Abusive Relationships In The Stranger
In The Stranger, the author exposes the audience to many unhealthy relationships that may or may not
be identified. In part one of The Stranger the novel introduces Salamano, Meursault s neighbor, and
his dog who is in an abusive relationship some may consider physical and verbal. This type of
relationship is most remembered throughout the book because it is physical abuse but is it so different
from the relationship Meursault had with his deceased mother? Some readers argue that no harm was
inflicted onto the mother by Meursault, therefore, cannot be considered an abusive relationship but
neglect is still on the table for a factor in their connection. The correlation between Salamano and his
dog can be compared to Meursault and his mother in many ways but each link has different details.
The relationship Salamano has with his dog is more loving than what Meursault had with his mother.
The relationship Salamano had with his dog is very similar to the relationship Meursault had with his
mother. They are similar in the sense that both are considered abusive relationships due to the
treatment they gave to their loved ones. In the novel, it states Then he beats the dog and swears at it. ...
Then they both stand there on the sidewalk and stare at each other, the dog in terror, the man in hatred.
(27). This shows how Salamano treated his dog every day for eight years which caused the dog to
cower in fear whenever around him. Meursault also did not have the best relationship with

The Importance Of Amendments To The Constitution
The main idea common to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights is
a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. This idea of a republic was relatively
new in the late eighteenth century, with many of the nations in Europe (which had control over most
of the North American colonies) being governed either by constitutional monarchies, those being a
king or queen bound by a set of basic restrictions, absolute monarchies, those being a king or queen
with absolute power. King George III, to whom the Declaration of Independence was addressed,
would be considered a Constitutional Monarch. The independence of the United States (referred to at
the time as these united states, signifying their individual sovereignty over each ... Show more content

There are currently twenty seven amendments, but the first ten are the ones most commonly referred
to as the Bill of Rights. Among the liberties granted to the people by these amendments are the right to
free speech, to bear arms, to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, and suffrage for
oppressed groups such as African Americans and women. Between 1791 and 2016, the social and
political climate has changed significantly, as is evident in historical movements to amend the
Constitution. During the Civil War and Reconstruction eras, the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments
granting rights to African Americans, specifically an end to slavery, equal treatment for all citizens
under the law, and suffrage for black men, respectively, were passed. The women s vote was finally
granted in 1920 with the nineteenth amendment, after hundreds of years of unfair representation.
These amendments demonstrate that the ideas of our nation are constantly progressing, and provide a
method to adapt the Constitution to reflect those

The American With Disabilities Act
The American with Disabilities Act was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W.
Bush. (Mayerson, 1992). According to Hallahan, Kauffman, Pullen (2015, P, 14) the ADA provides
protection of the civil rights in the specific areas of employment, transportation, public,
accommodation, State and local government, and telecommunication. According to Mayerson (1992,
P1) the ADA did not began at the signing ceremony at the White House, but it began in the
communities, when parents with children with disabilities began to fight against the exclusion and
segregation of the children . The foundation of the ADA, is the disability rights movement. The
disability movement fought for the rights of the people with disability. According to Mayerson (1992,
P, 1) The disability rights movement, has made the injustices faced by the people with disabilities
visible to the American public and politicians. Without the contribution of the disabilities rights
movement there would not have been an ADA. Like the civil rights movement before the people with
disabilities sat in federal buildings, marched through the streets to protest the injustice. Also, they
sought justice in the courts (Mayerson, 1992). According to Mayerson (1992, P 2) From a legal
perspective, a profound and historic shift in the disability public policy occurred in the 1973 with the
passage of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act . Section 504 is the U.S federal law that protect the

The World Is Flat, By Thomas L. Friedman
The World Is Flat is a visionary and insightful text written by Thomas L. Friedman. In short, the text
brings about the study of globalization at its forefront. Moreover, Friedman analyzes the evolution of
business and importance of information with respect not only to the 21st century, but with regards to
the history of trade as we know it. It is from this study and understanding that Friedman engages in a
detailed thought process as to how an institution, government, or individual can remain competitive in
such a progressive environment. In summary, through engaging in the fifteen chapters and recalling
the historical events used as evidence, one may arrive at more substantial conclusion as to how certain
entities will remain ahead of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To explain with an example, Friedman gives the reader a story, stating when I was growing up, my
parents told me, Finish your dinner. People in China and India are starving. I tell my daughters, Finish
your homework. People in India and China are starving for your job (270). Apparent in this personal
example is the presence of two critical arguments of the text. First and foremost, the quote draws a
contrast between two generations and highlights the fact that they are in some respects, exponentially
different. Thus, Friedman is able to reinforce his claims of how rapidly changing the world truly is.
Secondly, he uses this example of drastic change occurring from one generation to the next to
reference on of the driving forces or catalysts. To clarify, the reference to China and India s population
as eager for a job opportunity indirectly reemphasizes the effects of the spread of information as well
as the strength of outsourcing. From this quote, the reader gathers that individuals outside of their
home state have the ability to do their job and will do so without ever having to step into their country.
Again, Friedman puts into context the vast contribution that the web and other information sharing
technologies have given the globe. Although there are more detailed explanations and relevant
evidence, this quote serves as a fairly strong summary of Friedman s arguments in the first half of the
text. Whereas the first half of Friedman s work aims to

captures additional customers that do not seek the branded Starbuck experience and would likely

stores and supermarkets and increase overall corporate revenues. Will the company continue its past
success? Yes. A continued emphasis on customer satisfaction, coupled with effective strategies that
develop new product lines, will stimulate revenue growth and stabilize share prices. The current vision
and path summarized by Starbucks president and CEO, Howard Schultz, is a commitment to
continually improving our customer experience as the roadmap to renewed growth and increasing
profitability, with emphasis on continued application of previously successful strategies, we will
continue to innovate and differentiate, two perennial hallmarks of the Starbucks brand. (Starbucks

Criminal Justice Essay
(J.Ken, 2006)COMING TO AMERICA STRUGGLE AND TRANSACTION
Introduction
To understand contemporary policing in America it is necessary to understand its antecedents; we will
gain a better understanding of this history by looking at its three eras. The police, said, are to great
extent, the prisoners of the past. Day to day practices are influenced by deeply ingrained traditions.
Another reason for analyzing historical developments and trends is that several discrete legacies have
been transmitters to modern police agencies. In view of the significant historical impact on modern
policing, it is necessary to turn back the clock to about A.D.900. Therefore, we begin with a brief
history of the evolution of four primary criminal justice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on HCC Industries
Context HCC Industries is a small publicly owned company headquartered in California that has four
divisions across the United States. Three divisions manufacture and sell hermetically sealed electronic
connection devices of various types, while one, Hermetite, produces microelectronic packages. HCC s
divisions are very self
‐contained and independent. A general manager runs each division and is
responsible for nearly all its functions. Additionally, a controller is employed to do the reporting for
each division. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to demoralizing situations for their divisions. With attainable targets, they have something
to aim for. These drastic goals could cause the managers and their teams to give up, knowing that they
will fail to meet expectations. Another issue with the budgets is that they supposed to be fixed. As a
result, they don t account for unforeseen events. Some of the criteria are under the
division s control such as delinquency and quality. However, criteria like shipping, bookings profit
before tax are highly exposed to macro
‐economic forces outside of HCC s control. The threat of
termination could create situations where managers make poor decisions that will hurt the company in
an effort to save their position.
In the case of Hermetite, its unpredictable nature makes it particular challenging to budget for.
Because Hermetite s results could vary significantly, a fixed budget approach is especially
inappropriate for evaluating the work of the Hermetite division.

The Land Of The Jordan River
After the nation of Israel had fled Pharaoh s domination in Egypt and just before crossing the Jordan
River into the Promised Land, Moses sent twelve spies, one from each tribe, to assess the new land.
After 40 days, they returned telling stories of a great land flowing with milk and honey that was
inhabited by a powerful people living in large well fortified cities. Caleb, one of the twelve, a
courageous and loyal colleague of Joshua, silenced the crowd. Standing before Moses, Caleb declared
boldly, We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.
The other ten spies filled with fear scoffed at both Joshua and Calab, We can t attack these people.
They are stronger than we are.
The ten then spread lies among the people about the new Promised Land that Joshua and Caleb had
just explored.
Only Joshua sided with Caleb. Both of them tore their clothes in anger before the assembled crowd
saying, The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us
he will lead us into that land and give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid
of the people of the land. But the Israelites had already forgotten God s promise and angrily threw
stones at them. Consequently, that rebellious and sinful generation of Israelites found only death in the
desert.
Joshua and Caleb possessed a pure Spirit. They had courageously risked their lives in order to speak
the Truth. They alone remembered how God

Norse Mythology Vs Greek Mythology
Everyone loves stories, we love to go into another s perspective and see their world and what they
believe in, and stories from Greek and Mesopotamian are ones to hear. They believed in the gods that
lived in heaven and they used them to explain some of the unexplainable things in life, using stories
and background to explain why things happen.in all these stories there is something different between
the Norse Myths and the Greek Myths. If you step back and look at the whole, you can see the
difference between the character s personalities and their morality. After reading many of stories from
each collection I see that Norse Mythology has higher morals than Greek Mythology because Norse
Mythology recognizes an individual s choices and the advantages of choosing right over wrong, they

Powell s The Last Stand
After the release of Mongrel Virginians Powell, Plecker and Cox kicked their racial integrity
campaign into high gear. To bring attention to the rampant miscegenation believed to have taken place
in the state Powell published a series of articles under the heading, The Last Stand. Released between
February 16 and March 2, 1926, the articles were largely inspired by the premise of Estabrook and
McDougle s study, as Powell wished to bring attention to the geographic location of the state s mixed
breeds. Powell harkened his fellow Virginians to awaken from [their] lethargy of pleasure and
prosperity! and to heed the call for a last stand, or else white civilization would be swallowed in the
quagmire of mongrelization. Powell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The unions these tribes were able to establish with their white supporters were often buttressed by a
mutual animosity toward black Americans. In testimony before the legislature to discuss the impact of
the racial integrity measures a member of the Pamunkey tribe referred to black Americans as dirty
negroes, while a Mattapponi man passionately declared that rather than submit to a negroid
classification we would prefer to be banished in the wilds of the forest and there let the wild fowls of
the air and the animals of the forest devour our bodies and leave our bones to bleach white in the sun
of the Great Spirit. By 1928 lawmakers seemed to be much more sensitive to the negative impact of
this law on Virginia s native descended citizens. As a result the bill stalled. The reticence on the part of
the legislature to pass this bill suggests that many white Virginians viewed the racial composition of
the state s native population in more positive terms. Their reticence to amend the bills also speaks to
the possibility that white Virginians understood that their state s unique history would allow for such
sharp racial divisions as could not be made as sharply as the members of the Anglo Saxon Clubs
hoped to enact.

The Social Marketing Aspects Of Twitter
Research Project 1: Comparing Brand Project This literature review will mainly discuss some
literatures that address on the social marketing aspects of Twitter. With the growing accessibility of the
internet, social media does not only change the dynamics of sustaining human relationships (O Brien,
2011), but enables consumers to establish a social community within a brand. Businesses center their
marketing strategy on social media branding because active engagement implies the domino effects
following the robust electronic word of mouth (eWOM). Barton (2006) defines eWOM as a statement
made by potential customers about a brand or a product, which potentially generates interest in the
category of products and influences purchasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Expanding beyond microblogs, the ease and openness of messages have made Twitter the best
alternative to reporting and accessing emergencies news such as earthquakes and political movements
(Muralidharan et al., 2011). More importantly, Jansen, Zhang, Sobel and Chowdhury (2009) reported
that approximately one quarter of the tweets touches on brands, among which users seek to provide
information or express opinions about the brand. Consistently, Zhang, Jansen Chowdhury (2011)
indicated that Twitter provides a rich plethora of resources for companies to grasps consumers taste,
trends and promote campaigns through engaging in the eWOM communication process. As shown,
social media platforms become an essential channel for brands to gather audiences and heighten brand
awareness, but no studies have analysed the well established Twitter community of big brands as a
good reference. It is worthy examining how the biggest brands such as McDonalds and KFC
manipulate their tweets on Twitter and uncover the type of messages that both food giants deliver.
There has been a mixture of views among researchers regarding the success measurements of social
marketing (Baumgartner, 2014). The importance of maximising tweets in social branding is
emphasized in Keller (2007) s study. Regardless of the nature of the tweet material, Keller argues that
the more frequent a brand tweets, the more probably it will attend to specific customers. While

Boxing
Roberto Hands of Stone Duran once said: Getting hit motivates me. It makes me punish the guy more.
A fighter takes a punch, hits back with three punches. Duran represents one of the hardest punchers in
boxing history, and the best middleweight that has ever fought. He is one of the most experienced and
successful boxers inside and outside of the ring. Boxing is a sport that provides excellent physical
condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It increases muscular tone,
cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength.
One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t
create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. By
punching and moving around, muscles are exercised at all times, which is very different from other
sports where only one muscle is exercised at a time. Exercising all muscles at once does not make
them bigger, it makes them healthy and able to develop properly. Bones also play an important role in
having well toned muscles. By boxing, bones gain power and size; therefore, the proportions of
muscles are affected in a positive way. When bones get stronger, muscles ... Show more content on

By punching and moving the hips, arms and legs constantly gain power and endurance. The oblique,

deltoids work in synergy with the pectorals, contracting the trapezius for another punch. This example
clearly demonstrates how boxing improves strength in a very good way and how it involves a vast
quantity of muscles. One of boxingÂŽs best attributes is giving the ability to defend yourself. It properly
teaches how to block a punch, dodge a strike, and hit properly. Because of this, you will be able to
defend yourself in any situation (even without hitting your opponent) and leave with no harm done to

Omnivore Vs Vegetarianism
Intro:
According to Albert Einstein, It is my view that the vegetarian manner of living... would most
beneficially influence the lot of mankind. The debate over whether or not it is healthier to be a
vegetarian or an omnivore has been a controversy for decades. Omnivores argue that vegetarians don t
consume enough protein and need meat to maintain a healthy regimen. Vegetarians disagree and call
attention to the risk of diseases while consuming meat in addition to the harmful effects of what eating
animals do to our planet. Einstein s quote perfectly expresses the concept that being vegetarian is more
beneficial to mankind. A vegetarian lifestyle is not only constructively for the human body, but it is
what will protect and preserve our fascinating planet.

express the positive and negative effects of each lifestyle. This is an informative article based on true
facts that display both sides of the vegetarian vs. omnivore debate. Humans will argue that
maintaining an omnivore diet is healthier for mankind. In this article the authors say, a vegetarian diet
is shown to have a lesser risk of certain diseases. This quote proves that by statistics a vegetarian diet
is better for your health and will decrease the chances of obtaining certain diseases. Omnivore diets
lead to heart disease, lower blood cholesterol levels... as well as lower overall cancer rates. I disagree
with the statement that an omnivore diet is healthier than a vegetarian diet because, as recent research

Negative Effects Of Body Image
With today s social media, the young generation sees an array of images that portray the ideal body.
Most of the pictures seen belong to young female models advertising beauty products. They are
presumed to have perfect and idyllic appearances (Cash, 2004). Young girls often feel the pressure to
attain this illusion which is mostly unachievable. Failure to achieve this height of beauty leads to low
self esteem and low self evaluation issues. The subject of body image among adolescents has become
a problem as they are always in pursuit of the high social standards of attractiveness that are
practically impossible. The teenagers in high schools are the ones who face this problem a lot. (Pope,

Reflection Paper On Communication
Analysis Communication
Communication is essential in all facets of an organization. It can aid in decision making, planning
and conflict resolution. The ability to effectively communicate allows facilitation of relationships
between superiors and subordinates; essentially this creates higher job satisfaction (Dogra, A., 2012).
Open communication where employees have opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns, corelates
to employees feeling a sense of value within the organization, which creates motivation (Dogra, A.,
2012). Furthermore, in conjunction with these ideas, a sense of partnership and loyalty begin to
develop between subordinates and superiors. The responses to this are typically seen in greater
responsibility being given to the subordinate.
Reflection on DFS Communication
At the start of my placement, I was anxious, and scared all at the same time. I had never worked with
youth before, or had a background in it. I was essentially thrown right in, and now I realize that is the
only way to become acquainted with this type of work. Early on open communication allowed me to
ask questions, and gain perspective on things I was unaware of. Before long I was communicating
ideas and concerns to superiors formally, and informally. It did not take long for increased roles and
responsibilities within the program and organization.
There was one scenario where as a youth worker I was able to provide assistance to an individual who
was threatening his own life.

Sir Lancelot And King Arthur
Honor. Honor, known as the chivalric code initially from the Catholic military rankings of the
Crusades, corresponding with medieval notions of morals of chivalry. This concept is the main theme
in the novel Le Morte de Arthur by Thomas Malory. In Le Morte de Arthur, King Arthur discovers the
betrayal of his wife Guinevere, and his best knight Sir Lancelot. However, although King Arthur is
married to Guinevere he feels the most betrayal by his best knight Sir Lancelot and is pained over his
dishonor. This loss of chivalry honor ultimately is the downfall for both Sir Lancelot and King Arthur.
Honor and loyalty is seen as the main code that the knights follow before any. The twelve knights take
upon themselves to uphold their knighthood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it is hinted, one could say that King Arthur knew of the relationship between Lancelot and
Guinevere but chose to look the other way in fear of losing Sir Lancelot. Sir Lancelot is an example of
what a perfect knight would be in the True Knighthood. His honor to King Arthur is what King Arthur
holds precious to himself. These three men want to stay loyal to one another and fight against what
others are trying to say.
Sir Gawain is a heroic knight who refuses to fight against Sir Lancelot as he sees him a friend and a
true knight. Whereas the Heroic Knight defines honor as a family matter, the Worshipful Knight
defines it rather as a matter between individuals (Kennedy 66). Sir Gawain s honor comes from his
individualize relationships with others. When accosted to join Sir Agravain and Sir Mordred he
refuses because Lancelot is his friend, and consider him to a brother to him. I will never be against Sir
Launcelot for one day s deed, when he rescued me from King Carados of the Dolorous Tower, and
slew him, and saved my life (Mallory 440). Sir Gawain refuses to fight against Lancelot and expose
him. He doesn t believe that he will ever be against Sir Lancelot. However, this does change when Sir
Gawain s sons are slain and he harbors anger towards Lancelot. This harbored anger displays how Sir
Gawain although honored Sir Lancelot before the loss of his sons, over powers the previous

Primary producers take energy from sunlight to produce glucose, which is an energy storing
monosaccharide, through photosynthesis to make glucose and carbon dioxide. Predators represent
higher trophic levels. Decomposers break down wastes and return nutrients back to the soil. They
process organic material and return nutrients to the ecosystem in inorganic form. Energy is released
but not recycled during decomposition. The gross primary productivity (GPP) is the amount of light
energy that is converted into chemical energy. The net primary production (NPP) is equal to gross
primary production minus the energy used by the primary producers for respiration and the storage of
chemical energy available to consumers in an ecosystem. As it is a food chain in which energy passes
from one level to the other. Sun provides energy to primary producers, to primary consumers, to
secondary consumers and to tertiary consumers. The trophic structure of a community is determined
by the feeding relationships between organisms. Trophic levels link in the trophic structure. The
transfer of food energy from plants to herbivores, to carnivores, to decomposers is called food chain.
Two or more food chains linked together are called food webs. Energy has to be lost as heat while

English 250 Introduction to Literary Studies
July 7, 2015
Use of Literary Techniques in A Good Man is Hard to Find The confrontation between good and evil
detailed in Flannery O Connor s A Good Man is Hard to Find wouldn t be nearly as vivid without the
use of various literary techniques such as similes, personifications, imagery, foreshadowing, and irony.
While all of the aforementioned literary techniques contribute to the central confrontation, they are
also used to create the distinctive tone of the entire account. Ultimately, the most influential
techniques are the meaningful use of imagery and foreshadow along with the significant use of irony
throughout the tale. O Connor uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator s tale uses foreshadowing when describing the fine attire of the grandmother. The
grandmother is dressed in a navy blue dress with a small white dot in the print. Her collars and cuffs
were white organdy trimmed with lace and at her neckline she had pinned a purple spray of cloth
violets containing a sachet. (423) While initially this doesn t tell a reader the full story, when the
reader finds the ending to include the unexpected death of the grandmother, one sees that likely the
narrator was likely foreshadowing how at ones own funeral, one is put together just so. Furthermore,
the narrator describes the small cemetery the traveler s pass that contains 5 or 6 graves, which happens
to be the same number of occupants in the vehicle. The reader is left to interpret that perhaps this
convincing use of imagery is used to foreshadow the impeding untimely deaths of grandmother,
Bailey, June Star, John Wesley, the mother, and the baby. Irony is perhaps the most distinct and
powerful literary technique used in A Good Man is Hard to Find. The entire tale revolves around the
battle between what is perceived as good and evil. The narrator asks the reader to see the grandmother
as good and the Misfit as

The Problem Of A Housing Crisis
In order to prevent another housing crisis we must implement programs that would teach housing
buyers and potential homeowners how to buy homes wisely because most potential homeowners are
unsophisticated and do not know at what rate to buy homes and set personal guidelines for mortgages.
The complexity of buying homes not only affected homeowners and home buyers but also confused
sophisticated securities investors in that these securities investors sold MBS (Mortgage Backed
Securities) at an excessive price range that the MBS should never had been sold at. We need
legislative reforms that makes home mortgages to be more simplified and transparent market practices
such as underwriting standards, in bonds or other security measures based on these mortgages. There
must be oversight in terms of those originating mortgages and selling them, at an astronomical price.
Unless legislature implement legal parameters that set the structural ground work for simplification we
won t be able to stave off another mortgage crisis. Denmark for instance has set up simplified system
of residential lending and finance with logical costs of capital to borrowing home buyers.
Economically speaking it would be great if the United States government enact reforms that would
bring about lower rates of household investments in home ownership in this country. Households in
the United States have long been overinvested in where they lived. In previous bygone eras residential
lending in the United States

The Progress of an Aztec Warrior
The image of The Progress of an Aztec Warrior taken from the Codex Mendoza gives us some idea of
the highly ritualized, even religious, character of Aztec warfare (Austin 209). The dress adopted by
Aztec warriors was hardly protective: from the depictions in the Codex Mendoza it appears that they
fought mostly naked. Although protected by a shield, otherwise they were adorned with feathers,
flowers, and animal skins, indicating that the warrior s identity was in some way dedicated to the
totemic animal gods of the Aztec religion. But the ideology of warfare was practically inculcated in
the Aztecs from birth. Inga Clendinnen notes that childbed was conventionally designated a
battlefield, where a woman could take a captive by capturing a baby. The midwife greeted the birth of
a male child with warcries and a formal exhortation, addressed to the child, but directed, of course, to
the panting, newly delivered mother, who was emphatically not given the baby to hold: My precious
son, my youngest one...heed, hearken: thy home is not here, for thou art an eagle, a jaguar...here is
only the place of thy nest...out there thou hast been consecrated...War is thy desert, thy task. Thou
shalt give drink, nourishment, food to the sun, lord of the earth...perhaps thou wilt receive the gift,
perhaps thou wilt merit death by the obsidian knife...The flowered death by the obsidian knife [that is,
death on the killing stone] (Clendinnen 17) Because the Aztec mode of warfare was focused on

Essay on Illegal Music Downloading
Ever since the start of illegal music downloading there has been an ongoing debate. As with any
controversy, there are those whose positions stand at one end of the spectrum or the other and also
those who are moderate or nonchalant. Many believe that downloading a song without paying for it is
not only illegal, but also immoral. None the less, people continue to download songs, rationalizing that
the record companies are getting what they deserve after years of overpriced CD s or that the artists
won t really miss the money. Some people are not sure what to make of the situation, sympathizing in
some respects with either side. There are several proposed solutions to this problem, but it has become
obvious that there is not easy or clear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Companies like Apple, have decided that it is best to get in with the downloading business. However,
an end to the illegal downloading conflict remains to be realized. The RIAA and associated artists
continue to wage war against illegal downloaders while computer savvy audiences persist in sharing
music files online every day. While it is undoubtedly true that downloading music is a crime, it
remains to be proven that it is wrong. Without establishing this principle, most downloader s are likely
to continue the activity. Even with new, inexpensive and available means of downloading files, they
can still be shared for free online. The rift must be repaired between music lovers who feel that they
have been taken advantage of in the past and recording companies and artists who worry about their
future livelihood. I believe that at the heart of this controversy is a drive to bring music production
into the twenty first century. Making CD s more accessible, economical and usable benefits all
everyone except maybe the CD producers, in the end. Listeners can access music when, where and
how they want to for less money, as the have grown accustomed to doing. Musicians cut out the
middleman, allowing them to keep more of the profit. This is undoubtedly the future of the industry.
While companies are searching for ways to hold on to 90 percent of the profit and to continue to
combat illegal downloading, others are negotiating new terrain

Myers-Briggs Assessment
After taking a Myers Briggs assessment my mind has been changed. The very first time I took any
kind of personal assessment was my second year of college. I had taken my general education classes
and it was time to pick a major. The thing is, what 19 year old know what they want to do for the rest
of their lives? None I tell you! So I went to an advisor and was given the test. Many seemingly
random questions the results were in; you can be a doctor or lawyer or astronaut they said! The least
helpful 45 minutes of my life I gave to that advisor. Taking the Myers Briggs seemed no different. A
long test with seemingly unsystematic questions about nothing specific. This time, for the first time, I
got it. After I read the results I understood. This test didn t try to tell me what career I should select, or
what degree to pick. It simply gave me results about me. My result gave me a type ISTP, where each
letter stands for personality traits. Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Perception. To me that didn t
mean much, until I started reading up on them. With every sentence I found myself agreeing more and
more. Factual, realistic, and impersonal. Cool headed, perceptive, and ... Show more content on

(S)ensing: preferred to intuition; ISTPs tend to be more concrete than abstract. They focus their
attention on the details rather than the big picture, and on immediate realities rather than future
possibilities. There have been many times in my life where I couldn t understand why people were
worried about the future, or things they had no control over. If you can t know what tomorrow holds
then why worry about it? Live in the now, how hard can it be? I often thought to myself. Now I know,
it can be hard. If that s not part of your personality, part of how God made you to think, that can be
very hard. Just as hard as it is for me to be around large groups of people for extended periods of

Tattoo Identity Essay
With much apprehension starting the learning spec project for my Introduction to Communication
class, it begins as I walk up to the doors of Loyalty Tattoo in New Philadelphia, Ohio. When Loyalty
first opened in October of 2010, it had a sterile demeanor and a passerby might question what kind of
shop it was. Today, Loyalty has come a long way and is now a booming tattoo business, woven and
snug in the heart of the community in the New Philadelphia mall. Then 2010 Now 2017
(LoyaltyTattoo NewPhiladelphia. (n.d.)
The atmosphere is uplifting and in appearance as a group of coworkers collaborating on projects for a
presentation. The shop is clean and inviting with art adorning the walls and anxious faces greeting
customers whom walk in. Although there are six to ten employees at a time, they are their own boss
with a vast range in personalities. The dynamic of so many occurrences going on at the same time was
exasperating to me. Personally, I could not wait to find out how they kept everything organized. They
worked together, but separately in what appeared more like a symphony than a tattoo shop. Feeling
like an alien in a world only for the tattoo artist and piercers, I merely pretended to comprehend
everything by nodding my head. (LoyaltyTattoo NewPhiladelphia. (n.d.)

Star Trek Gender Sterotypes Essay
The Star Trek television series was truly a groundbreaking show not just for its plot lines and
ideological messages, but also for its revolutionary cast. Two of the main actors were Jewish, one
main actor was a gay Asian, and of course, one was a black woman. Uhura was one of the first main
black characters on a television show and of course, her kiss with Kirk was the first interracial kiss
ever on television. For a show in the 1960s, Star Trek broke many barriers across religious, racial, but
most significantly gender lines. From television to film, from music to advertising, men are often
portrayed as strong willed and powerful, while women are often shown as submissive, powerless, and
sexually promiscuous. Particularly in American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems that the film breaks out of traditional gender stereotypes. However, looking a little deeper one
will see that in all the fight scenes, Uhura plays no part in giving out commands or taking initiative,
which perpetuates the stereotype that women don t take initiative. The women officers are shot with
the camera from the top down rather than from the bottom up as the men are which emphasizes the
physical size difference between the men and the women officers and belittles the power of the
women officers. Although the film appears to show strong women, the women in fact are weak and
are depicted as mostly useless the women also don t break out of any traditional gender stereotypes.
Despite, the apparent strength of Uhura, the film eroticizes Uhura through camera angles, her romantic
action toward Spock, and her costume. At the end of the film, the camera darts back and forth between
the main characters aboard the Enterprise. All of the men shown are siting up straight, and shot from
the bottom up to assert their strength and physical size. When Uhura is shown, her entire body is
shown while the men s bodies were only shown from the chest up she puffs out her chest, rests her
hands on her legs, and puts her legs together all signs that the film is trying to establish a sexual appeal
with Uhura s character. In addition, the

Dr. Strangelove: Or how I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. A textual and contextual
analysis In 1964 with the Cold War at its peak, the Vietnam War about to get underway and the Cuban
Missile Crisis still prominent in the minds of its audience Dr. Strangelove: Or how I Learned to Stop
worrying and Love the bomb , was exposed to the world during perhaps, one of the most fragile and
tense political climates of all time. Kubrick s utterly ironic black comedy that plays on the possibility
of nuclear obliteration was based loosely on the celebrated 1958 novel, Red Alert by Peter George but
differed in the fact that the film was highly satirical. That Kubrick even so boldly dared to make a film
that openly mocked the situation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Merkin is also a type of wig, the president is bold and it s common for most men to feel apprehension
towards loosing their hair, this is cleverly reflected in Muffley s anxious personality. Buck Turgidson
is another name with certain connotations; a buck refers to an adult animal such as a dear, the
character definitely displays multiple animalistic (a doctrine that humans are merely animals with no
spiritual nature) attitudes towards the soviets (he particularly dislikes the Russian ambassador),
describing them as commie bastards , perhaps not something you might expect to hear in the War
room of the Pentagon. The name Buck Turgidson also insinuates a dominant male no longer masculine
or able to perform. Then there s the obvious, Jack D Ripper referencing the notorious serial killer that
cut the throats of prostitutes from the slums of London, In an interview for the guardian newspaper
Stanley Kubrick once stated that the great nations have always acted like gangsters and the small
nations like prostitutes this is relevant to the characters status and how he retains the power to destroy
a country at the push of a button. Finally, Captain Lionel Mandrake; Mandrake is a plant with a root
used for medicinal purposes, applied by some to increase sexual fertility, this can be found to relate to
the captains role in the film

  • 2. Abusive Relationships In The Stranger In The Stranger, the author exposes the audience to many unhealthy relationships that may or may not be identified. In part one of The Stranger the novel introduces Salamano, Meursault s neighbor, and his dog who is in an abusive relationship some may consider physical and verbal. This type of relationship is most remembered throughout the book because it is physical abuse but is it so different from the relationship Meursault had with his deceased mother? Some readers argue that no harm was inflicted onto the mother by Meursault, therefore, cannot be considered an abusive relationship but neglect is still on the table for a factor in their connection. The correlation between Salamano and his dog can be compared to Meursault and his mother in many ways but each link has different details. The relationship Salamano has with his dog is more loving than what Meursault had with his mother. The relationship Salamano had with his dog is very similar to the relationship Meursault had with his mother. They are similar in the sense that both are considered abusive relationships due to the treatment they gave to their loved ones. In the novel, it states Then he beats the dog and swears at it. ... Then they both stand there on the sidewalk and stare at each other, the dog in terror, the man in hatred. (27). This shows how Salamano treated his dog every day for eight years which caused the dog to cower in fear whenever around him. Meursault also did not have the best relationship with ... • 3. The Importance Of Amendments To The Constitution The main idea common to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. This idea of a republic was relatively new in the late eighteenth century, with many of the nations in Europe (which had control over most of the North American colonies) being governed either by constitutional monarchies, those being a king or queen bound by a set of basic restrictions, absolute monarchies, those being a king or queen with absolute power. King George III, to whom the Declaration of Independence was addressed, would be considered a Constitutional Monarch. The independence of the United States (referred to at the time as these united states, signifying their individual sovereignty over each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are currently twenty seven amendments, but the first ten are the ones most commonly referred to as the Bill of Rights. Among the liberties granted to the people by these amendments are the right to free speech, to bear arms, to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, and suffrage for oppressed groups such as African Americans and women. Between 1791 and 2016, the social and political climate has changed significantly, as is evident in historical movements to amend the Constitution. During the Civil War and Reconstruction eras, the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments granting rights to African Americans, specifically an end to slavery, equal treatment for all citizens under the law, and suffrage for black men, respectively, were passed. The women s vote was finally granted in 1920 with the nineteenth amendment, after hundreds of years of unfair representation. These amendments demonstrate that the ideas of our nation are constantly progressing, and provide a method to adapt the Constitution to reflect those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The American With Disabilities Act The American with Disabilities Act was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush. (Mayerson, 1992). According to Hallahan, Kauffman, Pullen (2015, P, 14) the ADA provides protection of the civil rights in the specific areas of employment, transportation, public, accommodation, State and local government, and telecommunication. According to Mayerson (1992, P1) the ADA did not began at the signing ceremony at the White House, but it began in the communities, when parents with children with disabilities began to fight against the exclusion and segregation of the children . The foundation of the ADA, is the disability rights movement. The disability movement fought for the rights of the people with disability. According to Mayerson (1992, P, 1) The disability rights movement, has made the injustices faced by the people with disabilities visible to the American public and politicians. Without the contribution of the disabilities rights movement there would not have been an ADA. Like the civil rights movement before the people with disabilities sat in federal buildings, marched through the streets to protest the injustice. Also, they sought justice in the courts (Mayerson, 1992). According to Mayerson (1992, P 2) From a legal perspective, a profound and historic shift in the disability public policy occurred in the 1973 with the passage of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act . Section 504 is the U.S federal law that protect the people with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The World Is Flat, By Thomas L. Friedman The World Is Flat is a visionary and insightful text written by Thomas L. Friedman. In short, the text brings about the study of globalization at its forefront. Moreover, Friedman analyzes the evolution of business and importance of information with respect not only to the 21st century, but with regards to the history of trade as we know it. It is from this study and understanding that Friedman engages in a detailed thought process as to how an institution, government, or individual can remain competitive in such a progressive environment. In summary, through engaging in the fifteen chapters and recalling the historical events used as evidence, one may arrive at more substantial conclusion as to how certain entities will remain ahead of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To explain with an example, Friedman gives the reader a story, stating when I was growing up, my parents told me, Finish your dinner. People in China and India are starving. I tell my daughters, Finish your homework. People in India and China are starving for your job (270). Apparent in this personal example is the presence of two critical arguments of the text. First and foremost, the quote draws a contrast between two generations and highlights the fact that they are in some respects, exponentially different. Thus, Friedman is able to reinforce his claims of how rapidly changing the world truly is. Secondly, he uses this example of drastic change occurring from one generation to the next to reference on of the driving forces or catalysts. To clarify, the reference to China and India s population as eager for a job opportunity indirectly reemphasizes the effects of the spread of information as well as the strength of outsourcing. From this quote, the reader gathers that individuals outside of their home state have the ability to do their job and will do so without ever having to step into their country. Again, Friedman puts into context the vast contribution that the web and other information sharing technologies have given the globe. Although there are more detailed explanations and relevant evidence, this quote serves as a fairly strong summary of Friedman s arguments in the first half of the text. Whereas the first half of Friedman s work aims to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Land Of The Jordan River After the nation of Israel had fled Pharaoh s domination in Egypt and just before crossing the Jordan River into the Promised Land, Moses sent twelve spies, one from each tribe, to assess the new land. After 40 days, they returned telling stories of a great land flowing with milk and honey that was inhabited by a powerful people living in large well fortified cities. Caleb, one of the twelve, a courageous and loyal colleague of Joshua, silenced the crowd. Standing before Moses, Caleb declared boldly, We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it. The other ten spies filled with fear scoffed at both Joshua and Calab, We can t attack these people. They are stronger than we are. The ten then spread lies among the people about the new Promised Land that Joshua and Caleb had just explored. Only Joshua sided with Caleb. Both of them tore their clothes in anger before the assembled crowd saying, The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us he will lead us into that land and give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land. To bring attention to the rampant miscegenation believed to have taken place in the state Powell published a series of articles under the heading, The Last Stand. Released between February 16 and March 2, 1926, the articles were largely inspired by the premise of Estabrook and McDougle s study, as Powell wished to bring attention to the geographic location of the state s mixed breeds. In testimony before the legislature to discuss the impact of the racial integrity measures a member of the Pamunkey tribe referred to black Americans as dirty negroes, while a Mattapponi man passionately declared that rather than submit to a negroid classification we would prefer to be banished in the wilds of the forest and there let the wild fowls of the air and the animals of the forest devour our bodies and leave our bones to bleach white in the sun of the Great Spirit. By 1928 lawmakers seemed to be much more sensitive to the negative impact of this law on Virginia s native descended citizens. As a result the bill stalled. The reticence on the part of the legislature to pass this bill suggests that many white Virginians viewed the racial composition of the state s native population in more positive terms. Their reticence to amend the bills also speaks to the possibility that white Virginians understood that their state s unique history would allow for such sharp racial divisions as could not be made as sharply as the members of the Anglo Saxon Clubs hoped to enact. ... Consistently, Zhang, Jansen Chowdhury (2011) indicated that Twitter provides a rich plethora of resources for companies to grasps consumers taste, trends and promote campaigns through engaging in the eWOM communication process. As shown, social media platforms become an essential channel for brands to gather audiences and heighten brand awareness, but no studies have analysed the well established Twitter community of big brands as a good reference. It is worthy examining how the biggest brands such as McDonalds and KFC manipulate their tweets on Twitter and uncover the type of messages that both food giants deliver. There has been a mixture of views among researchers regarding the success measurements of social marketing (Baumgartner, 2014). The importance of maximising tweets in social branding is emphasized in Keller (2007) s study. Regardless of the nature of the tweet material, Keller argues that the more frequent a brand tweets, the more probably it will attend to specific customers. While ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Duran represents one of the hardest punchers in boxing history, and the best middleweight that has ever fought. He is one of the most experienced and successful boxers inside and outside of the ring. Boxing is a sport that provides excellent physical condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It increases muscular tone, cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength. One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. By punching and moving around, muscles are exercised at all times, which is very different from other sports where only one muscle is exercised at a time. Exercising all muscles at once does not make them bigger, it makes them healthy and able to develop properly. Bones also play an important role in having well toned muscles. The debate over whether or not it is healthier to be a vegetarian or an omnivore has been a controversy for decades. Omnivores argue that vegetarians don t consume enough protein and need meat to maintain a healthy regimen. Vegetarians disagree and call attention to the risk of diseases while consuming meat in addition to the harmful effects of what eating animals do to our planet. The ability to effectively communicate allows facilitation of relationships between superiors and subordinates; essentially this creates higher job satisfaction (Dogra, A., 2012). Open communication where employees have opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns, corelates to employees feeling a sense of value within the organization, which creates motivation (Dogra, A., 2012). Furthermore, in conjunction with these ideas, a sense of partnership and loyalty begin to develop between subordinates and superiors. The responses to this are typically seen in greater responsibility being given to the subordinate. The midwife greeted the birth of a male child with warcries and a formal exhortation, addressed to the child, but directed, of course, to the panting, newly delivered mother, who was emphatically not given the baby to hold: My precious son, my youngest one...heed, hearken: thy home is not here, for thou art an eagle, a jaguar...here is only the place of thy nest...out there thou hast been consecrated...War is thy desert, thy task.
