Feudal Society In Medieval Europe
A feudal society is one in which the lords carry a significant measure of power by owning land.
Workers known as Serfs are included on the land. Serfs owe the lord a certain amount of labor as well
as give the lord a portion of their goods. The lords then gives protection to the serfs from their knights.
To get knights, the lord offers a fief(land) to the knight in exchange for military service. A feudal
society had the characteristic of being decentralized. It also had major roles and responsibilities that
everyone needed to follow in order to keep the society intact. During the early Middle Ages,
decentralized governments, attacks from the Vikings and other barbarians, and the strong power of the
Church strongly abetted the formation of the feudal society in Medieval Europe. ... Show more content

When a government system is decentralized, then it may lack a strong military and infrastructure.
After the fall of Charlemagne s empire, his society required a lot of strong lords with powerful armies
to protect the people because there was no strong centralized government. This led to feudalism
because the people were in need of protection and had no strong centralized government to make a
strong army. The feudal society consisted of a decentralized government and had a strong army.
Another factor that led to the development of feudal societies, were the attacks from the Vikings and
other barbarians. Because The Vikings were so fierce and quick when they attacked, it made them
almost indefensible and very difficult to fight. When Charlemagne s empire fell, it suffered many
attacks from The Vikings that gradually weakened their government. Feudalism allowed for protection
of everyone and people did not need to rely on a strong, centralized

Critical Thinker Needs
Martin Luther, King Jr once said The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to
think critically. Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education . This quote is one of the
many reasons why I want to attend Carmen High School of Science and Technology. By attending
Carmen High school I will be able to become a critical thinker and keep developing my writing, and
math skills. I will go more into detail in my next paragraphs. During my search for my high school
choices Carmen High school s mission intrigued me because it said that they want to graduate all
students as critical thinkers, and self directed learners . This can help me succeed in my career and in
college. By becoming a critical thinker it will help me analyze certain situations where I have to make
decisions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I cannot fail because if I fail I could be putting a life of an animal in danger which I do not want. If I
go to Carmen I am sure that they will help me prepare myself for when I have to face obstacles.
Another reason why I want to attend to your high school is because my brother attended there too.
During the time he was there he changed. His teachers never gave up on him and tried to help him. He
had even gotten some scholarships and now has graduated from college. This makes me even more
sure that I want to attend Carmen. Since the school offers various scholarships that can help me pay
for my veterinary career during college. Carmen also offers job internships that will help me gain

History Of The Black People Of Canada
If you think that the Black Canadians were unified, well by the end of this I will change your mind.
This is one of the first reasons why, all of the Black Canadians were promised to be given freedom if
they would fight on the British side during the war, but not all of them agreed to this order as nearly
3500 of them stayed to fight war and the rest went to find a better path of escaping slavery, many of
them worked as labor workers, soldiers, pilots cooks etc. After the Canadian Confederation took place,
many of the Black Canadians were enticed by the recruitment campaigns which led to Canada s
prairie provinces. Because of all this, the Black Canadians were divided into separate groups and sent
off to different prairie provinces, there were some of them in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. ...

Business Administration And Human Resource Management
Quantitative research is simply an extravagant name for analyzing data with numerical values. While
it does require numbers to calculate accurate hypothesis, quantitative research can be used to
eventually create hard factual data. Within my current field of study, quantitative research methods are
being used very frequently. I am studying in both business administration and human resource
management and will identify how both fields could benefit from this research method below.
Additionally, the pitfalls or negatives will be analyzed to ensure that there is a clear understanding of
how best to use this method of research to the absolute maximum.
First, let us examine how the world of business uses quantitative research methods on a daily basis. In
the business world, numbers generate all outlooks via positive or negative. For instance, when a
company is analyzing a new market, they will likely run some quantitative research to ensure there are
positive numbers to generate a profit. This could be numbers for population, spending trends or even
stock analysis. All of these examples would be identified through case studies.
However, quantitative research can also be used to track data within the company such as production,
manpower hours, quality of work and mishaps. This allows the management staff to keep operations
running smoothly and also monitor areas that could benefit from improved productivity. This method
could also be used to assist in determining awards,

The Buckminster Fullerene Is The Third Allotropic Form Of...
In general, the Buckminster Fullerene is the third allotropic form of Carbon, with the other two being
Graphite and Diamond. The more proper term used to describe these compounds in regards to Carbon
compounds would be Graphenes. (22)
The Buckminster Fullerene was first discovered in 1985 by scientists Harold Kroto, Rickard Smalley
and Robert Curl. (1) They were able to discover that when Graphite is vaporized by a laser, a variety
of large Carbon cluster compounds were formed, the C60 compound or Buckminster Fullerene, being
the most abundant. (1) The other Fullerenes found were C28 C32, C44 and C78. The C60 compound
was named after Buckminster Fuller, as he was responsible for the creation of many geodesic domes,
which resemble ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This involves setting up an arc between two graphite electrodes and using a stream of inert gas, such
as Helium. (1) This causes the Carbon to form vapors, which then condenses into the C60 Fullerene as
well as additional types of Fullerenes. Source: S. Chuanchen, G. Haibin, F. Dufei, Extraction of C60
cluster ion beam, Review of Scientific Instruments, 65, 1405 1407 (1994).
Due to the cage like structure formed during the synthesis of the Fullerene, the compound is able to
trap small molecules of the inert gas within the structure. The general formula used to represent a gas
enclosed within the structure of the Fullerene is nX@C60, where n is the number of trapped atoms and
X represents the trapped gas. (1) The interior diameter of the C60 compound is 7.09Å, which is large
enough to trap a variety of the noble gases including Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton and Xenon. (##)
In addition to trapping gases, the Fullerenes are also able to hold metal ions within the structure. Since
the C60 compounds have a high electron affinity, they can readily accept electrons from alkali metals.
The compounds that are formed from the enclosure of metal ions are known as Endohedral
Metallofullerenes. (1) Examples of alkali metals that can be placed inside the C60 compound include
Sodium, Potassium, Rubidium and Caesium. For the alkali metals, the formula would resemble,
M3C60. (1) The process of putting the alkali metals inside the C60

Examples Of Media Bias
Why So Biased? The media overtime, ever since the beginning of news reporting on campaigns and
elections, has become biased. With journalists having an unshakeable opinion of a specific person
leads to them writing biased articles or papers. Many readers believe certain news outlets are too
biased and refuse to even read articles that come from that station or watch a certain news channel,
this leads to many believing that the readers are biased and not the journalists. However, this is not the
case. Looking at many journalists it is incredibly clear that they try and persuade their readers against
one candidate and towards another. Through the development of new ways to spread news, such as
television, weblogs and news stations, the media has become biased and tries to persuade readers
against certain candidates and towards another. Many argue that the media does its job when it comes
to representing both sides when reporting on elections and campaigns. They ... Show more content on

Vacation On Easter Island
Conducting my research supporting a vacation on Easter Island, an atypical destination filled with
mystery and intrigue, I realized this destination is a must, not only for the adventure, but also for the
opportunity to experience a place not everyone is willing to expend the time and expense involved in
visiting, a vacation is ultimately a chance to escape the everyday drudgery and routine, all these
reasons make Easter Island the perfect, eclectic, vacation spot to enjoy a once in a lifetime
undertaking. Initial research led to the National Newspapers Core, perusing the hits: an article, The
Dream at the End of the World , by Edward Albee, (celebrated playwright) stood out. Scanning the
article, I realized he similarly regarded this undertaking, moreover: I realized his words summed up
exactly how I feel about this excursion. I have felt the need to experience cultures which grew, fell
into decadence and vanished (Albee 1). Easter Island, isolated and unknown until 1722 when it was

one of the drawing points for my desire to visit this paradise in the Pacific. Albee goes on to state: The

United States not properly using animal welfare. Animal rights activists believe that animals were not

[Simply said], Robert Frost was an intriguing man. [In the span of his career], he was awarded four
Pulitzer prizes and recited a poem at John F. Kennedy s inauguration. Many of his poems had
underlying messages that would influence many people, even today. [In short], many of Frost s poems
give life lessons and enlighten the readers on the subjects of nature and life altogether, making Robert
Frost an outstanding poet in American History. Robert Lee Frost, named after the famous Southern
General Robert E. Lee, was brought into this world on March 26, 1874, in San Francisco, California.

The first theme, the outdoors, is best revealed in his poem The Road Not Taken. In this poem, Frost
uses a fork in a road to describe making decisions in life. Given the main idea, most likely the poem is
referring to Frost s decision to leave farming to follow poetry. Frost uses five lines of poetry in each
verse with similar length. Using the technique of inferring, analysts can conclude that the poem relates
to the theme of perfect decision making. It shows that decisions can not always be perfect. Frost uses
symbolism and imagery to display a visual representation of a decision. For example, in lines 1 2 Frost
uses the fork in the road in a forest as a reference to a decision with two choices. He evaluates each
side (trade offs in a decision) and chooses a side as in lines 4 5. Shortly after, he describes the side he
chose. He says the road was grassy and that it was not worn. This creates not only a mental image but
the realization that one side can visually appear better than the other. On line 12, he states that there
are leaves on the ground which we can picture and also believe that it is autumn. From line 16 to 20,
he repeats the first stanza. This represents the reflection of his decision. Although he repeated the first
stanza, Frost removed the word yellow, that described the woods, and also said that he chose the one
less traveled, and he did not regret it. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I / I took the one less
traveled by, / And that has made all the difference (The Road Not Taken). Frost does this to show that
decision making can be hard, but it is best to evaluate and choose the decision that is best suitable, not
what everyone else chooses. Throughout this poem, Frost tries to bring attention to
questionable/uneducated decisions in life and make the best of them through his tone and word choice.
Frost s theme of imperfection can be seen either

Independence
As a child, one does not make decisions for oneself. Parents shape the lives of their children into the
person they want their child to become. They put their children into the sports, activities, and hobbies
that they think will take their children down a successful path. Then the time comes when their child
needs to start making decisions on their own. Although the children are not independent adults yet,
this time is a huge part of their transformation from sheltered childhood into independent adulthood.

The Tinker V. Des Moines Independent School District...
One of the most well known Supreme Cases involving student rights was the Tinker v. Des Moines
Independent School District decision of 1969. The verdict quickly became a precedent for many other
decisions involving school issues and is very relevant today. In December of 1965, students attending
Des Moines Public Schools held a meeting at Christopher Eckhardt s house to conduct a plan to show
their support for a truce in the ongoing Vietnam War. They resolved to wear black armbands during
the holiday season and also to fast on December 16 and on New Years. The principals at the school
received word of the plan, and on December 14, they established a policy that banned armbands in
school. Anyone who refused to remove the armband at a teacher s request would be suspended.
However, this did not deter Mary Beth Tinker and Christopher Eckhardt, who, on December 16, wore
their armbands and were sent home. John Tinker did the same thing the next day and was immediately
sent home. None of them returned to school until after New Years. Their fathers then sued the schools
for violating their children s right to freedom of expression. However, the District Court dismissed the
case, and the US Court of Appeals affirmed the decision, because of this, the families appealed to the
Supreme Court. The children s right to free speech was being violated. They argued that their
protesting of the war was within the confines of the First Amendment. Since their wearing of the

Descriptive Essay On Hippies
Hippies
When I think about the mountains my mind automatically goes to hippies. So I thought visiting Pigeon
Forge and Gatlinburg was fitting for this essay. During my time in Tennessee, I attended a car show
and I saw many Hippie vans and old style classic Volkswagen beetles. We walked the strip in
Gatlinburg and I came in close contact with many people who I thought were pretty close to Hippies.
The strip had tons of restaurants on each side and stores were filled with so many different people. But
mostly everyone was in touch with their hippie side or nature side. Many men had long untamed
beards while the women had super long hair and they all seemed to dress free . There was a
moonshine tasting store and right in front of it had a stage and three guys (very in touch with the
natural look) with long beards and they were playing banjos and guitars.
They were very much in touch with their hippie side . There was one certain store that stood out to me
because it had so many crazy colors and peace signs everywhere. It also had 420 written everywhere
and Bob Marley blankets displayed along with hoodies which I m sure you understand what they were
referring to. At the car show, I also observed the people around the cars. Many men like I had seen
before in Gatlinburg sported the long straggly beards. Pigeon Forge had a lot of RV campgrounds and
tons of gorgeous cabins you can rent out and stay in. Much like I said in my outline, Hippies love to
hang out in social events and I m sure there were many more hippie like groups/people in Tennessee I
just didn t get the chance to see them. I noticed there was a lot of older women at the car show dressed
what you would put in the same category of a hippie. I also associate drinking (not much like the
alcohol we have today) with hippies. Almost every of age person was drinking or already drunk. Since
marijuana is illegal in Tennessee so I didn t see anyone out in public smoking marijuana. Hippies are
known as the free spirited group and they love to congregate together to create peace instead of
violence. During my time in Tennessee I heard a lot of music, it overpowered everything. Guitars and
banjos being played, to just a song

The Production Of Energy And Regulation Of Apoptosis Onset
Recessive Mutations in TWINKLE Cause Infantile Onset Spinal Cerebral Atrophy

Abstract
The production of energy and regulation of apoptosis onset are some of the key roles of mitochondria
in the cell. These two functions are related in such that malfunctions of the oxidative phosphorylation
process can lead to release of apoptosis inducing proteins. In order to function properly, the
mitochondria requires many proteins encoded in the nuclear genome. Some genetic diseases such as
IOSCA, manifest symptoms because of large scale apoptosis or atrophy in specific tissues due to a
nuclear encoded mutant protein. A recessive Y508C missense mutation in C10orf2, a region of DNA
encoding mtDNA helicase TWINKLE, manifests as IOSCA. These individuals are homozygous,
however a number of different heterozygous individuals with a secondary mutation have been
documented with distinct similar phenotypes are described as a subclass of IOSCA. Homozygous
individuals develop symptoms approximately by one year as a result of atrophy of specific structures
in the hindbrain, posterior spinal cord and sensory axons. The additive atrophy over time manifests in
progressively worse symptoms eventually leading most affected individuals to become deaf, wheel
chair bound, suffer spine and foot deformities and eventually bouts of refractory epilepsy. Current
treatment is merely symptomatic and not preventative. As the

Analysis Of The Movie James Bond
Goldfinger Character Analysis Rough Draft James Bond is widely known for being a cunning secret
agent who will do everything to save whatever is in danger, anything from the world to an attractive
female, and doing even more just to get the girl. This may be so in the movie depictions, but in the
novels, James Bond can be depicted as a bumbling alcoholic who stumbles onto the right answers.
James Bond s successes are circumstantial by his actions, losses, and interactions with a variety of
characters from Ian Fleming s seventh James Bond novel, Goldfinger. Ian Fleming was born on May

Social Order Theory In The Giver
Some would say society is unpredictable and uncontrollable; which some may view this as either a
negative or positive. There have been multiple theories of what a more organized and harmonious
society would need, also known as social order theories. According to Reference.com, social order
theory is the way a society is organized which includes the rules and standards that are set in order to
maintain that organization . We can see one an example of a social order being put to practice in a
society through the social science fiction film The Giver. We can also see how this theory fits under
the collectivism and rational quadrant on the spectrum of order. And lastly, we see a greater
connection between the social order in the film and Marx s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First, Durkheim believes that society is already there rather than us creating it. In The Giver we see
how the elders go against the ideology since they are the ones who try to control and regulate their
society, in other words they are creating it. Second, Durkheim also believes the crime is a part of
society and plays a significant role since it forms solidarity amongst people in the society.etc. In the
film, we see that the elders do everything possible in order to prevent any crime from occurring.
Durkheim also is on the non rational spectrum where he is concerned about feelings instead of goal
orientation. In the film, the elders are unconcerned about feelings, and even take emotions away, in
order to maintain their social order which is their main goal. On the other hand, Marx believes that
there are two types of people in the world; the owners and the worker, whom are hostile towards each
other. In the beginning of the film, they mention how they took away certain divisions such as fame,
popularity, etc. so that people will not become envious. This shows that they understand the division
of groups can cause conflict which correlates with Marx

Analysis Of The Movie The Truman Show
The media has become so powerful in today s society that it has come to the point of controlling our
daily lives. We accept the reality of the world with which we re represented. It s as simple as that .
This was said by a character in the movie, The Truman Show that was released in 1998, distributed by
Paramount Pictures, directed by Peter Weir, and includes stars such as Jim Carrey, Laura Linney,
Natasha McElhone and many more. There is a crucial need to criticize the media in order to explore
the way something is presented and to be sure that we are thinking for ourselves because the media is
not always accurate in its portrayal of facts. The Truman Show is a non stop, 24 hour live broadcast of
a man named Truman Burbank. Truman has no idea that his life is fake, full of actors, and that there
are over 5,000 hidden cameras that document his entire life, although his life and emotions are still
genuine. The show is watched by Truman fans all over the world that are addicted and can t get
enough of it. These fans want to know his every move. The creator of the show was a man named
Cristof who claims that he knows everything about Truman because he has had him trapped in a fake
city called Seahaven in a giant television studio in a super dome his whole life and watches his every
move. Everything seems to change when Truman begins to notice strange things happening around
him. For example, while on his daily routines to work he sees a hobo who looks exactly like his

However, the 1973 4 oil crisis put a brake on the fast pace of steel production growth and further led
the global steel industry into a transformation era lasting two decades. The period 1975 2000 was
characterized by production stagnation, in terms of scale, and structural transformation driven by
widespread technological innovation which created 75% of the categories of steel products used today.
Current Global Scenario In the year 2000, the World Crude Steel production was 848 million tonnes,
showing an impressive growth of 7.6% over the previous year. The world steel consumption also rose
by almost 8%. The international steel trade constituted around 303 million tons or 40.5% of the
production. In 2001 and 2002, world crude steel production was 833.70 million tonnes and 886.70
million tonnes, respectively. The following significant developments have been witnessed recently in
the global steel scenario: There has been a spate of mergers and acquisitions all over the world in the
steel industry. This is a relatively new development in the steel industry and is not confined only to
companies within the same country but often involved cross border acquisitions and mergers. China
has emerged as the most vibrant market for steel production and consumption. The crisis of excess

Nuclear Weapons And Atomic Weapons Essay
Nuclear weapons are a threatening war tactic that has become more frequent in the new media,
especially in the past few weeks after Hillary Clinton released an updated version of the Daisy ad
inferring that if elected, Donald Trump will misuse the nuclear weapons of the United States. Nuclear
power is a big responsibility and since the start of its use, scientists and politicians have tried to
separate weapons and nuclear power. However, one must first understand what a nuclear weapon truly
is to understand how they can be a threat. Nuclear weapons are devices that are designed to release
energy in an explosive manner as a result of nuclear fission, nuclear fusion or a combination of the
two processes (Norris).
There are various kinds of nuclear weapons, the most common being fission, and fusion weapons.
Fission weapons are often called atomic bombs. Fission (atomic) bombs can be simple to build
although obtaining the materials for them can be tough. The material needs to have a high probability
of undergoing neutron induced fission, produce a fair number of neutrons with each reaction, have a
reasonably long half life, and have fissile material that is accessible (easy to dig up or easily made in a
nuclear reactor) (Bryan 83). The National Academy of Sciences says, the critical and indispensable
ingredient of a nuclear explosive device is either highly enriched uranium or separated plutonium 239.
Highly enriched uranium is produced by separating the fissionable

Being A Black Woman Essay
Being a black woman, Tiana has many pressures since she has to deal with poverty and
discrimination. Influenced by her mother, she decided to go to university because she believed that
only education can help her figure out what exactly happened to black women and how to deal with
these issues. She insisted that women are capable of exercising equal political and social rights with
men. With this belief, Tiana studied hard and got pay off. She was admitted to study at NYU with a
Major in Gender and Sexuality Studies. At NYU, she took many classes related to women, race, and
history, such as Social and Cultural Analysis, Minority Women in America, and Minority Women in
America. She learned how women were described as a weak group in terms of body, intelligence, and
psychology; she learned why gender stereotypes became the excuses to legitimately exclude women

Since she had a deep understanding of how the prejudice devalues and drives minorities and minority
women far away from power center, Tiana decided to work for a national organization fighting for

should do something for people who are unable to do for themselves.
As mentioned in the introduction, racial segregation exists in the educational area; not every black
people has an opportunity to pursue a high degree but Tiana did. Tiana s experience and cultural
identity motivated her to explore the ways in which minority groups were formed in the U.S., figure
out the social, economic, political and sexual realities of women of color, and understand how race,
ethnicity, gender, and sexuality intertwine and impact women of color. With knowledge about race and

Relationship Between Democracy And Economic Growth
Economic growth of a country is something that depends on a number of factors. In this dissertation, I
will investigate the effect of democracy and political freedom on economic growth. Both democracy
and autocracy have various examples of leading countries to economic growth as well as deterioration
of the economy. Along with the nature of the political regime in the nation there are several other
factors that influence economic growth in a country. I will also look in detail at the effects of these
variables on growth and will also later isolate their effects since the direct relationship between
political regime and growth can be established. Looking at non democracy in countries such as China
and the Arab countries, one may feel that democratic institutions are not important for economic
growth. Some may even go ahead and term it as a disturbance in the path of growth, for instance in a
paper written by Daren Acemoglu et al titled Democracy Does Cause Growth , the authors described
the view that some consider democracy a hindrance. Robert Barro presents the academic view on the
issue and says that the key lesson to be learnt is that democracy is not a key to growth and neither do
more political rights mean that there are more chances of economic growth (Barro 1997, pp. 1 and 11).
The literature written with regards to the relationship between democracy and growth mainly suggests
that there is a relationship in existence. Robert J Barro published a paper in 1996 where he

Ethical Failures Of A Professional Work Environment
Jerry Mason, senior vice president and general manager at Morton Thiokol, and Morton Thiokol were
on the brink of negotiating the booster rocket contract renewal with NASA. Although, it is not an
acceptable reason, we could see how engineers and others below the authority of Jerry could be afraid
to state something contrary to what he stood by. When someone s self interest and pride gets in the
way of engineering, it can neglect the welfare of the public, and cause them harm. This case study
highlights many irresponsible, and ethical failures in a professional work environment. Jerry Mason
failed to abide by the following impediments for responsible action; self interest, ignorance, and group
thinking. Ethics should always be the base of any engineering project. There are some instances where
people, like Jerry Mason, become self interested and forget that at the core of engineering, lies the
responsibility to act with the public s welfare in mind, above all else. The Challenger incident shows
us how Jerry Mason acts contrary to the standards that the public expects professionals engineers to
stand by. His sole comment to Bob Lund, to take off your engineering hat and put on your
management hat, speaks greatly about what the Challenger meant to him. Jerry Mason viewed the
launch as a business transaction that would allow him and Morton Thiokol to benefit greatly at the
midst of a contract renewal. Success brings advancement in managerial positions, but in this

The Bolsheviks and the Tragedy of the October Revolution
The majority of the people are with us. The majority of the working and oppressed people all over the
world are with us. Ours is the cause of justice. Our victory is assured. 1
October was a classic coup d état, the capture of governmental power by a small minority, carried out
without mass engagement. 2
The October Revolution was perhaps the most momentous event of the twentieth century. It led to the
creation of the Soviet Union, the first avowedly Communist nation in history, which was to become a
global superpower, an inspiration to many, an object of the hatred of many more. Possibly more
important was the role the memory of the October Revolution played in the ... Show more content on

The October Revolution was interpreted quite differently by those hostile to the Communist leaders of
the Soviet Union. In their top down histories of the Russian Revolution the common people appeared
as the passive objects of the evil machinations of the Bolsheviks. 4 The Bolsheviks cynically adopted
populist and anarchist slogans in order to recruit the masses as foot soldiers in their own quest for
power. If any apparent support for the October Revolution was seen among the masses, it was the
product of ignorance, skilled propaganda and a supple improvisation by the Bolsheviks themselves,
who transformed their elite operation into a temporary mass organization 5 to seduce the Russian
masses. The socialist reality of October was imaginary, and the Revolution itself was an amateur
police operation masked with expert propaganda to give an appearance of proletarian legitimacy 6
Both of these interpretations are heavily politicized. The former s purpose was to establish the
legitimacy of the Soviet Union as the genuine embodiment of the will of the Russian Proletariat, the
authentic People s State. The latter was meant to strip the USSR of that legitimacy and expose the
oppressive and unpopular dictatorship that ruled the country with an iron fist. As is not uncommon in
such situations, both of these interpretations

Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment
Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine
which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault
188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon
allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticon produces power. Most inventions
develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or solve a problem.
Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to describe
two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these events. He
suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of the plague and
colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a seventeenth century
order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the
town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The town was further divided into
quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of an intendant supervised each
family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and guards at the gate ensured that the
magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the syndics, intendants, and
guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and reported the

The Disappointment By Virginia Woolf Essay
Virginia Woolf once wrote that All women together ought to let flowers fall upon the tomb of Aphra
Behn ... for it was she who earned them the right to speak their minds (66). Since then, it seems that
the Restoration author has been deemed the one of first true feminists. Many argue that this is
apparent both in her being the first woman author to support herself with her writing as well as her
critique of gender and their assigned roles within her works. And while Behn has without a doubt
inspired countless women to take up the arts in similar ways, regarding her political views, she may
not have been the best advocate for all women. Conservative in her views, it is her acceptance of the
divine right of kings as well as the superiority of the aristocracy that calls into question if she fits into
the label feminist as we give it today. Contrasting Aphra Behn s poem, The Disappointment, against
her renowned novel, Oroonoko, reveals the author s prejudices both in terms of class as well as race,
especially in regards to their power. For while the lower class, English shepherdess represents a
character on the cusp of sexual liberation; the virtuous, African noble woman is often left at the will of
the men in her life. The fate of these two women are very much reflective of their status in society. Yet
critics have failed to see how Behn links Cloris sexuality as well as Imoinda s oppression are linked to
class as well as race. Some such as Gqola, instead, see a

Soccer Concussions
Although soccer is one of the leading sports to cause concussions, I believe that soccer players should
be able to head the ball at all ages because it takes away from the fundamentals of the game, and it
causes the game to feel unnatural to the players while it also causes players to overthink. On February
16, 2016, the United States Soccer Federation declared that no one under the age of 13 was allowed to
head the ball because of the staggering concussion numbers that soccer had brought in. A concussion
is any trauma or blow to the head, and some symptoms of a concussion is headache, unconsciousness,
nausea, and dizziness. This new rule has made drastic changes to the game that we used to think was
soccer. Not enabling heading for soccer players clearly defies the fundamentals of the game because
players will, or would, often use their head to propel the ball forward to move away from their
defender, but now with the new heading rule, players are not allowed anymore to use their head until
they are at least 13. This new rule will forever change the way that soccer will develop all around the
United States because players will not be able to use a very useful part of their body until they are a
teenager. As stated by Sahar Milani of the American Youth Soccer Organization(AYSO), The new
policy includes that an indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a player age 10 or
younger, deliberately touches the ball with his/her head during a game . This

on its high quality and brand image, regarding them as the key components in their advertisements.
Therefore, on the one hand, Washburn guitar is completely in a non price competition, for its quality

Within the text, the author speaks to the audience about the Subaru Legacy s uniqueness, including its

rhetoric is the set of values on which the argument rests, subtly telling the audience about the strength

Advantages Of Self-Driving Car
Should Self Driving Cars Become a Normal Method of Transportation?
Through improvements of technology during the 21st century, new inventions to the modern day car
have been applied and the future has arrived. The self driving car facilitates the idea that humans don t
have to drive the car, but rather the car can drive itself. The cars recently debuted after being a concept
in the making for several years. One example of the car in the making is Tesla, a car producing
company, that initiated a test run of these cars calling the setting, autopilot (Source 3). The setting
allowed the driver to sit back and relax as the car attempted to drive without assistance. The self
driving car should be a normal mode of transportation because they reduce accidents, are accessible to
all ages, and are cost efficient. Self driving cars prevent accidents by reacting to stimuli faster than
humans. Associated Press writes, The system can brake when it spots obstacles and keep cars in lanes.

only in its short term effects, but also in the long term result. Although it may be tempting to use

The destruction that followed was unparalleled; according to the BBC, over 200,000 people were
killed immediately following the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and countless survivors became

following the nuclear attacks because the majority of those killed were civilians. If such a situation
occurred in Iran, it can only be assumed that results would be similar, if not more devastating. If the
U.S. attacked Iran in a more conventional manner, like a ground invasion, the question of sovereignty
and enforcement of international law is raised. Although the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty
prohibits states without nuclear weapons from acquiring them, it is difficult to enforce international
law, especially as states have sovereignty within their own borders. Only a few countries, including
the U.S., are able to threaten and deter countries that violate international law. Because of this, often
the only laws that are enforced are those that concern the most powerful countries. The International

Difference Between Intuition And Learning
The two systems had different terms from author to author; for example; rational versus experiential
(Epstein et al., 1992), rule based versus associative (Sloman, 1996), noetic versus experiential (Strack
Deutsch, 2004), deliberative versus affective (Loewenstein O Donoghue, 2005), and System 1 versus
System 2 (Evans, 2003; Kahneman Fredrick, 2002). These researchers do not only used different
names for each of the two systems, they also used different terms to describe their meaning. The most
frequently used terms are two system, dual mode, and dual process. These theories have in common
that there are two different processing modes. The most natural terms are system 1and system 2 modes
(Evans, 2008 and (Keren Schul, 2009). There are differences between intuition and reasoning thoughts
which have been discussed for years. These variances have been appealed in efforts to form apparently
conflicting results in judgment studies under uncertainty (Kahneman Frederick, 2002; Sloman, 1996,
2002; Stanovich, 1999; Stanovich West, 2002). Stanovich and West (2000) have been labelled these
two cognitive processes system 1 and system 2 which have been agreed on by many researchers on
features that discriminate the two types from each other. The processes ofsystem 1 are emotionally
charged most of the time, they are usually fast, automatic, and effortless. They are hard to control or

Summary Of Dr. Heidegger s Experiment By Nathaniel Hawthorne
People like to reflect on the past. Some enjoy it, and take pleasure in what they had accomplished and
done. Others look back in misery, and wish they could change it. However, in both cases, some may
long for it to come back. This may be because they want to be there again where it was perfect in their
eyes, or to change it, because their past is full of regret. One of these instances is the four old friends
from the short story Dr. Heidegger s Experiment by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The four, Mr. Medbourne,
Colonel Killigrew, Mr. Gascoigne, and Widow Wycherly, all had terrible pasts, and had extreme desire
to go back in time to fix it, which they almost did. The four want to change their past, and this brings
about the theme of it is impossible to change it. When the four enter the Doctor s house, they are
introduced to the reader as, They were all melancholy old creatures, who had been unfortunate in life,
and whose greatest misfortune it was that they were not long ago in their graves. Through this quote
Hawthorne is pointing out they were all failures in life. They all wished they were dead, their lives so
wasted and dreary. This shows their longing to change their past. They had been unfortunate in life,
and the fact they wanted to take the elixir to be young again shows they want to fix that. The narrator
also points out, And, before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The text says, and though utter sceptics as to its rejuvenescent power, they were inclined to swallow it
at once The four wanted to be young again, and possibly fix their past mistakes. Without this desire
from the old friends the theme would not have come across. But, since they wanted to change their
past, the theme could get across that you cannot change it. Hawthorne used the failures and longing of
his characters to get across a deeper message, and without that longing of the characters his point may
have not gotten so clearly

My Letter And Their Description
First part: My Four Letter and their description.
My conformed profile is ENTJ, stands for Extravert, Intuitive, thinking, and judging. This means that
in business and school I am very open to the external world, I like receiving information from internal
and imaginative world, I am very logic so all the decisions I make are based on logical facts and
reasons, and I like organizing, planning, and ordering everything before starting doing something. In
other words, as an ENTJ, I do like to plan and organize, and I do not need the support of anyone to
build up my plan and perform it. I am really determined to achieve my plan once I have created it. I
am able to place people where they are and lead them to do their work properly. I think ... Show more

It is easier for this type of personality to integrate acquaintances, and be observed. An ISFP can appear
very competitive and become difficult to lose (Joe Butt, n. d). An

theories (Joe Butt, n. d). ISFP is attached to living experiences instead of theoretical things; a person
with such personality likes apprehending events rather than reading and writing about them.
One of my friends is often boring about reading and spending time taking notes in class. She has a
penchant for adventures and she always thinksthat learning while being in the heart of experience is
better than staying behind a book, just read and listing to the tone of your voice and then nothing else
happens. She expresses great feelings when she is at ease of doing something. It is like she plunges
into the activity and becomes one with. I think that ISPF is the four letter that can describe her
personality.
Part 3: Experiences from the past
I faced some difficult situations, and I am going to recall two of them. I had a friend, he was
completely different of me. He was always ready to help even if he does know what to do.
Someday, he asked me to do something for him and on that time I was quite busy and in the
impossibility to help. Although it was something that could wait, he was really mad at me. When
I saw that he had any right to be

Foucault, Femininity And The Modernization Of Patriarchal...
In Foucault, Femininity, and the Modernization of Patriarchal Power, Sandra Bartky utilizes Michel
Foucault s concepts about power to help explain femininity. Throughout the article, she details how
society forces women to fit within the confines of this construct and how it affects them.
Sandra Bartky begins her piece by explaining Michel Foucault s ideas about modern power dynamics.
Unlike in the past, power in modern society focuses not only on controlling the products of the body
but, rather, on governing all its activities. In order for this power to continue, people are disciplined
into becoming docile bodies which are subjected and practiced (Bartky, 63). This discipline is imposed
through constant surveillance in a manner similar to the Panopticon. Inmates in said prison are always
visible to a guard in the central tower, so they mentally coerced into monitoring their own behavior. In
the same way, individuals become their own jailers and subject themselves to the society s whim due
to being in a state of conscious and permanent visibility to its all seeing eye (65). Bartky, however,
breaks from Foucault s theory by claiming that there is a clear difference in the disciplines imposed on
men and women that are ignored in the latter s writings.
Bartky posits that neither women nor men are born feminine or masculine; they are disciplined into
those molds. She delineates three categories of disciplinary practices that produce feminine women.
The first she

  • 2. Feudal Society In Medieval Europe A feudal society is one in which the lords carry a significant measure of power by owning land. Workers known as Serfs are included on the land. Serfs owe the lord a certain amount of labor as well as give the lord a portion of their goods. The lords then gives protection to the serfs from their knights. To get knights, the lord offers a fief(land) to the knight in exchange for military service. A feudal society had the characteristic of being decentralized. It also had major roles and responsibilities that everyone needed to follow in order to keep the society intact. During the early Middle Ages, decentralized governments, attacks from the Vikings and other barbarians, and the strong power of the Church strongly abetted the formation of the feudal society in Medieval Europe. ... After the fall of Charlemagne s empire, his society required a lot of strong lords with powerful armies to protect the people because there was no strong centralized government. This led to feudalism because the people were in need of protection and had no strong centralized government to make a strong army. The feudal society consisted of a decentralized government and had a strong army. Another factor that led to the development of feudal societies, were the attacks from the Vikings and other barbarians. Because The Vikings were so fierce and quick when they attacked, it made them almost indefensible and very difficult to fight. While it does require numbers to calculate accurate hypothesis, quantitative research can be used to eventually create hard factual data. Within my current field of study, quantitative research methods are being used very frequently. I am studying in both business administration and human resource management and will identify how both fields could benefit from this research method below. Additionally, the pitfalls or negatives will be analyzed to ensure that there is a clear understanding of how best to use this method of research to the absolute maximum. First, let us examine how the world of business uses quantitative research methods on a daily basis. In the business world, numbers generate all outlooks via positive or negative. For instance, when a company is analyzing a new market, they will likely run some quantitative research to ensure there are positive numbers to generate a profit. This could be numbers for population, spending trends or even stock analysis. All of these examples would be identified through case studies. However, quantitative research can also be used to track data within the company such as production, manpower hours, quality of work and mishaps. This allows the management staff to keep operations running smoothly and also monitor areas that could benefit from improved productivity. The more proper term used to describe these compounds in regards to Carbon compounds would be Graphenes. (22) The Buckminster Fullerene was first discovered in 1985 by scientists Harold Kroto, Rickard Smalley and Robert Curl. (1) They were able to discover that when Graphite is vaporized by a laser, a variety of large Carbon cluster compounds were formed, the C60 compound or Buckminster Fullerene, being the most abundant. Dufei, Extraction of C60 cluster ion beam, Review of Scientific Instruments, 65, 1405 1407 (1994). Due to the cage like structure formed during the synthesis of the Fullerene, the compound is able to trap small molecules of the inert gas within the structure. The general formula used to represent a gas enclosed within the structure of the Fullerene is nX@C60, where n is the number of trapped atoms and X represents the trapped gas. With journalists having an unshakeable opinion of a specific person leads to them writing biased articles or papers. Many readers believe certain news outlets are too biased and refuse to even read articles that come from that station or watch a certain news channel, this leads to many believing that the readers are biased and not the journalists. [In short], many of Frost s poems give life lessons and enlighten the readers on the subjects of nature and life altogether, making Robert Frost an outstanding poet in American History. Robert Lee Frost, named after the famous Southern General Robert E. Lee, was brought into this world on March 26, 1874, in San Francisco, California. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first theme, the outdoors, is best revealed in his poem The Road Not Taken. In this poem, Frost uses a fork in a road to describe making decisions in life. Given the main idea, most likely the poem is referring to Frost s decision to leave farming to follow poetry. Frost uses five lines of poetry in each verse with similar length. Using the technique of inferring, analysts can conclude that the poem relates to the theme of perfect decision making. It shows that decisions can not always be perfect. Frost uses symbolism and imagery to display a visual representation of a decision. For example, in lines 1 2 Frost uses the fork in the road in a forest as a reference to a decision with two choices. He evaluates each side (trade offs in a decision) and chooses a side as in lines 4 5. Shortly after, he describes the side he chose. He says the road was grassy and that it was not worn. This creates not only a mental image but the realization that one side can visually appear better than the other. On line 12, he states that there are leaves on the ground which we can picture and also believe that it is autumn. From line 16 to 20, he repeats the first stanza. This represents the reflection of his decision. Although he repeated the first stanza, Frost removed the word yellow, that described the woods, and also said that he chose the one less traveled, and he did not regret it. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I / I took the one less traveled by, / And that has made all the difference (The Road Not Taken). Frost does this to show that decision making can be hard, but it is best to evaluate and choose the decision that is best suitable, not what everyone else chooses. Throughout this poem, Frost tries to bring attention to questionable/uneducated decisions in life and make the best of them through his tone and word choice. Des Moines Independent School District decision of 1969. The verdict quickly became a precedent for many other decisions involving school issues and is very relevant today. In December of 1965, students attending Des Moines Public Schools held a meeting at Christopher Eckhardt s house to conduct a plan to show their support for a truce in the ongoing Vietnam War. They resolved to wear black armbands during the holiday season and also to fast on December 16 and on New Years. The principals at the school received word of the plan, and on December 14, they established a policy that banned armbands in school. Anyone who refused to remove the armband at a teacher s request would be suspended. However, this did not deter Mary Beth Tinker and Christopher Eckhardt, who, on December 16, wore their armbands and were sent home. John Tinker did the same thing the next day and was immediately sent home. None of them returned to school until after New Years. Their fathers then sued the schools for violating their children s right to freedom of expression. However, the District Court dismissed the case, and the US Court of Appeals affirmed the decision, because of this, the families appealed to the Supreme Court. The children s right to free speech was being violated. They argued that their protesting of the war was within the confines of the First Amendment. Since their wearing of the bands did not ... During my time in Tennessee, I attended a car show and I saw many Hippie vans and old style classic Volkswagen beetles. We walked the strip in Gatlinburg and I came in close contact with many people who I thought were pretty close to Hippies. The strip had tons of restaurants on each side and stores were filled with so many different people. But mostly everyone was in touch with their hippie side or nature side. Many men had long untamed beards while the women had super long hair and they all seemed to dress free . There was a moonshine tasting store and right in front of it had a stage and three guys (very in touch with the natural look) with long beards and they were playing banjos and guitars. They were very much in touch with their hippie side . There was one certain store that stood out to me because it had so many crazy colors and peace signs everywhere. It also had 420 written everywhere and Bob Marley blankets displayed along with hoodies which I m sure you understand what they were referring to. At the car show, I also observed the people around the cars. Many men like I had seen before in Gatlinburg sported the long straggly beards. Pigeon Forge had a lot of RV campgrounds and tons of gorgeous cabins you can rent out and stay in. Much like I said in my outline, Hippies love to hang out in social events and I m sure there were many more hippie like groups/people in Tennessee I just didn t get the chance to see them. I noticed there was a lot of older women at the car show dressed what you would put in the same category of a hippie. I also associate drinking (not much like the alcohol we have today) with hippies. Almost every of age person was drinking or already drunk. Since marijuana is illegal in Tennessee so I didn t see anyone out in public smoking marijuana. The Production Of Energy And Regulation Of Apoptosis Onset Recessive Mutations in TWINKLE Cause Infantile Onset Spinal Cerebral Atrophy Biology 2B03 November 23, 2014 Arthur Patterson Student Number: 1300982 Abstract The production of energy and regulation of apoptosis onset are some of the key roles of mitochondria in the cell. These two functions are related in such that malfunctions of the oxidative phosphorylation process can lead to release of apoptosis inducing proteins. In order to function properly, the mitochondria requires many proteins encoded in the nuclear genome. Some genetic diseases such as IOSCA, manifest symptoms because of large scale apoptosis or atrophy in specific tissues due to a nuclear encoded mutant protein. A recessive Y508C missense mutation in C10orf2, a region of DNA encoding mtDNA helicase TWINKLE, manifests as IOSCA. These individuals are homozygous, however a number of different heterozygous individuals with a secondary mutation have been documented with distinct similar phenotypes are described as a subclass of IOSCA. Homozygous individuals develop symptoms approximately by one year as a result of atrophy of specific structures in the hindbrain, posterior spinal cord and sensory axons. The additive atrophy over time manifests in progressively worse symptoms eventually leading most affected individuals to become deaf, wheel chair bound, suffer spine and foot deformities and eventually bouts of refractory epilepsy. Current treatment is merely symptomatic and not preventative. As the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Nuclear Weapons And Atomic Weapons Essay Nuclear weapons are a threatening war tactic that has become more frequent in the new media, especially in the past few weeks after Hillary Clinton released an updated version of the Daisy ad inferring that if elected, Donald Trump will misuse the nuclear weapons of the United States. Nuclear power is a big responsibility and since the start of its use, scientists and politicians have tried to separate weapons and nuclear power. However, one must first understand what a nuclear weapon truly is to understand how they can be a threat. Nuclear weapons are devices that are designed to release energy in an explosive manner as a result of nuclear fission, nuclear fusion or a combination of the two processes (Norris). There are various kinds of nuclear weapons, the most common being fission, and fusion weapons. Fission weapons are often called atomic bombs. Fission (atomic) bombs can be simple to build although obtaining the materials for them can be tough. The material needs to have a high probability of undergoing neutron induced fission, produce a fair number of neutrons with each reaction, have a reasonably long half life, and have fissile material that is accessible (easy to dig up or easily made in a nuclear reactor) (Bryan 83). The National Academy of Sciences says, the critical and indispensable ingredient of a nuclear explosive device is either highly enriched uranium or separated plutonium 239. Highly enriched uranium is produced by separating the fissionable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Relationship Between Democracy And Economic Growth Economic growth of a country is something that depends on a number of factors. In this dissertation, I will investigate the effect of democracy and political freedom on economic growth. Both democracy and autocracy have various examples of leading countries to economic growth as well as deterioration of the economy. Along with the nature of the political regime in the nation there are several other factors that influence economic growth in a country. I will also look in detail at the effects of these variables on growth and will also later isolate their effects since the direct relationship between political regime and growth can be established. Looking at non democracy in countries such as China and the Arab countries, one may feel that democratic institutions are not important for economic growth. Some may even go ahead and term it as a disturbance in the path of growth, for instance in a paper written by Daren Acemoglu et al titled Democracy Does Cause Growth , the authors described the view that some consider democracy a hindrance. Robert Barro presents the academic view on the issue and says that the key lesson to be learnt is that democracy is not a key to growth and neither do more political rights mean that there are more chances of economic growth (Barro 1997, pp. 1 and 11). The literature written with regards to the relationship between democracy and growth mainly suggests that there is a relationship in existence. Robert J Barro published a paper in 1996 where he ... Although, it is not an acceptable reason, we could see how engineers and others below the authority of Jerry could be afraid to state something contrary to what he stood by. When someone s self interest and pride gets in the way of engineering, it can neglect the welfare of the public, and cause them harm. This case study highlights many irresponsible, and ethical failures in a professional work environment. Jerry Mason failed to abide by the following impediments for responsible action; self interest, ignorance, and group thinking. Ethics should always be the base of any engineering project. There are some instances where people, like Jerry Mason, become self interested and forget that at the core of engineering, lies the responsibility to act with the public s welfare in mind, above all else. The October Revolution was interpreted quite differently by those hostile to the Communist leaders of the Soviet Union. In their top down histories of the Russian Revolution the common people appeared as the passive objects of the evil machinations of the Bolsheviks. 4 The Bolsheviks cynically adopted populist and anarchist slogans in order to recruit the masses as foot soldiers in their own quest for power. If any apparent support for the October Revolution was seen among the masses, it was the product of ignorance, skilled propaganda and a supple improvisation by the Bolsheviks themselves, who transformed their elite operation into a temporary mass organization 5 to seduce the Russian masses. The socialist reality of October was imaginary, and the Revolution itself was an amateur police operation masked with expert propaganda to give an appearance of proletarian legitimacy 6 Both of these interpretations are heavily politicized. The former s purpose was to establish the legitimacy of the Soviet Union as the genuine embodiment of the will of the Russian Proletariat, the authentic People s State. • 30. Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault 188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticon produces power. Most inventions develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or solve a problem. Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to describe two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these events. He suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of the plague and colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a seventeenth century order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The town was further divided into quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of an intendant supervised each family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and guards at the gate ensured that the magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the syndics, intendants, and guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and reported the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Disappointment By Virginia Woolf Essay Virginia Woolf once wrote that All women together ought to let flowers fall upon the tomb of Aphra Behn ... for it was she who earned them the right to speak their minds (66). Since then, it seems that the Restoration author has been deemed the one of first true feminists. Many argue that this is apparent both in her being the first woman author to support herself with her writing as well as her critique of gender and their assigned roles within her works. And while Behn has without a doubt inspired countless women to take up the arts in similar ways, regarding her political views, she may not have been the best advocate for all women. Conservative in her views, it is her acceptance of the divine right of kings as well as the superiority of the aristocracy that calls into question if she fits into the label feminist as we give it today. Contrasting Aphra Behn s poem, The Disappointment, against her renowned novel, Oroonoko, reveals the author s prejudices both in terms of class as well as race, especially in regards to their power. For while the lower class, English shepherdess represents a character on the cusp of sexual liberation; the virtuous, African noble woman is often left at the will of the men in her life. The fate of these two women are very much reflective of their status in society. Soccer Concussions Although soccer is one of the leading sports to cause concussions, I believe that soccer players should be able to head the ball at all ages because it takes away from the fundamentals of the game, and it causes the game to feel unnatural to the players while it also causes players to overthink. On February 16, 2016, the United States Soccer Federation declared that no one under the age of 13 was allowed to head the ball because of the staggering concussion numbers that soccer had brought in. A concussion is any trauma or blow to the head, and some symptoms of a concussion is headache, unconsciousness, nausea, and dizziness. This new rule has made drastic changes to the game that we used to think was soccer. Not enabling heading for soccer players clearly defies the fundamentals of the game because players will, or would, often use their head to propel the ball forward to move away from their defender, but now with the new heading rule, players are not allowed anymore to use their head until they are at least 13. This new rule will forever change the way that soccer will develop all around the United States because players will not be able to use a very useful part of their body until they are a teenager. As stated by Sahar Milani of the American Youth Soccer Organization(AYSO), The new policy includes that an indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a player age 10 or younger, deliberately touches the ball with his/her head during a game . Others look back in misery, and wish they could change it. However, in both cases, some may long for it to come back. This may be because they want to be there again where it was perfect in their eyes, or to change it, because their past is full of regret. One of these instances is the four old friends from the short story Dr. Heidegger s Experiment by Nathaniel Hawthorne. This means that in business and school I am very open to the external world, I like receiving information from internal and imaginative world, I am very logic so all the decisions I make are based on logical facts and reasons, and I like organizing, planning, and ordering everything before starting doing something. Bartky, however, breaks from Foucault s theory by claiming that there is a clear difference in the disciplines imposed on men and women that are ignored in the latter s writings. Bartky posits that neither women nor men are born feminine or masculine; they are disciplined into those molds. She delineates three categories of disciplinary practices that produce feminine women.
