We Needs Energy For A Successful Existence Essay
Introduction
The humanity needs energy for a successful existence. However, the amount of fossil fuel is
decreasing every day. Proved global reserves of oil and gas, at current rates of consumption, would be
adequate to meet demand for another 40 and 60 years, respectively. Moreover, using of traditional
sources of energy causes the greenhouse gases emission. These gases keep heat energy of
electromagnetic waves at lower atmosphere. The process that produces this difference between the
actual surface temperature and the effective temperature is due to the atmosphere and is known as the
greenhouse effect.
One of the main consumers of fossil fuel and source of the greenhouse gases is buildings. The solution
of this problem is upgrade our houses; make them smarter, environmentally friendly and effective.
Moreover, the smart homes will have many devices, which will replace the big part of routine tasks,
and life of people will be much easier. (Stephene S. Intille, 2006). Governments support the building
of eco buildings, because they emit less carbon dioxide. For example, in the UK it planned to reduce
emissions by 2050 (DECC 2011, 30). Moreover, building of eco houses will improve IT and
alternative energy technologies. This paper will argue that building of eco houses is the best way of
future architecture and building technologies.
At this research project, I used basic criteria. First of them is economic benefits for average income
people. Second criteria is the degree of

Dark Comedy As A Satire
Johana Garcia
Cinema 3 Dark comedy is a subgenre of comedy and satire that has a way of making over sensitive
topics into pure hilarity. The term black comedy was created by French surrealist Andre Breton in his
book Anthology of Black Humor claiming that black humor is sympathizing with The abuser while
poking fun at the victim. Although Andre is not wrong black comedy is a difficult genre to incorporate
because it is willing to push the limit on what subjects the public can find funny. As for the next
aspect, black comedies are shrouded in the idea that we live in an absurd world because, otherwise,
the film would simply be sick or serious and certainly not comical. In the 1960s, themes which had
previously been dealt with only in the most serious fashion were suddenly subject to burlesque, or
parody, thus creating black comedy. This is because Dr. Strangelove (1964)(Strangelove s comedy

Deviance in Hockey
Violence in ice hockey has been an identifying staple in the sport since the first hockey leagues
formed in the mid 1880 s, (Ice Hockey Origins, Growth and Changes in the Game). Since the modern
era of hockey, and the creation of the Stanley Cup, hockey has been viewed as one of the most violent
sports in western civilization. Clarence Campbell, former NHL President has even said that [w]ithout
violence, there would be no such thing as hockey, (Coakley). To an extent hockey is unmatched in
illegal assaults by any other sport, in both amateur and professional leagues, (Colburn). This does not
mean that the contact in other sports is not as intense as hockey, for example rugby and football are
both very violent sports, but this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This institutionalization created a different atmosphere around the entire world of sport.
Sports became something that men and women could participate in as well as small children. Because
of this universalization of sport it began to attract the attention of everyone, rather than just the
participants. With a new audience came a new set of views and interpretations of what sports were and
most sports fit into this new set of norms, and if not they adapted to fit into them. Hockey, however,
did not conform to these new norms.
Violence, fistfights specifically, in hockey are viewed as deviant because; that very type of violence is
statistically rare in institutionalized sports and it is harmful to individuals, the sport of hockey, and
society as a whole. This violence also violates the norms that society has created for competitive sport.
Because of these harms, the rarity of such violence in sports, and the violation of the norms, a negative
societal reaction forms.
One of the ways that an act can contract a deviant label is by its statistical rarity, (Bereska). Violence,
such as the fistfights seen in hockey, is a statistical rarity. Statistical rarity in this sense means that the
type of violence seen in hockey, and the volume that it is seen in hockey, is unheard of in any

Rivalry Of Elizabeth
Rivalry between Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots
Religion is a main reason why Elizabeth executed Mary. Evidence which supports this reason is that
some English Catholics would have preferred Mary as Queen of England. This would have made
Elizabeth feel as she would need to execute Mary because Mary gave Catholics a reason to rebel
against Elizabeth. Elizabeth was a protestant queen and most Catholics preferred a queen of their own
belief. Thus, this was the best time to rebel against Elizabeth and gain a new catholic queen who lead
the country. All they had to do, was releasing her from imprisonment. An argument in support of this
evidence is that in 1570 the Pope issued a Bull ordering. Catholics should disobey Elizabeth because
she was heretic. Catholics must follow the Pope and believe in him as the legitimate head of church.
McLaren describes that not solely the papal bull had consequences in the year 1570, but also James
Stewart s assassination:
If the near conjunction of the papal bull and the Northern Rebellion does not explain the change in
character of English anti Catholicism, 1570 still remains a key date in its career. The key event,
however, belongs to a British history whose parameters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This would give the Catholics courage to take Elizabeth off the throne and crown a catholic queen
instead, as this is what the Pope wanted. A further piece of evidence is the Northern rebellion of 1569.
It was a catholic attempt to replace Elizabeth with Mary. This would have made Elizabeth feel that she
would need to execute Mary because this event happened so quickly as she has only been there for a
year. Mary did not agree to it because she knew it would fail. Religion links to other factors such as
dynastic reasons, because Mary said she was the rightful Queen of England and Elizabeth was
illegitimate because the Catholics did not believe in

The sculptures and paint show details how society viewed and interpreted women body, sexuality, and
maternity. In addition, revealed that these women were protected from threats around them with
ornaments. Civilizations since early times, believed that we were in permanent threat from forces we
do not see or cannot explain and because of it, we protected ourselves with artificial elements in a
form of jewelry, crowns or caps. This idea has been continue from one generation to the next to the
point that in modern societies some of us still use this type of protection in our bodies (e.g., small
cross, divine images, tattoos, etc.).These pieces of art also indicate that humans believed in gods with
superpowers and they are looking over us constantly. Humanity also believes in dark forces or demons
trying to makes us do things that would upset the good gods. Some of the differences between these
sculptures and paint are the material in which each one of them were created. The first figure, the
Woman of Willendorf was carved in limestone, the second piece, the portrait of Queen Tiye was
carved in wood and the last piece, the Virgin and Child Icon was created of tempera on a wood. You
can also notice how the details on their faces and bodies changes throughout the time and years. The
woman of Willendorf figurine offers details of a voluptuous nude women s body but there is not face,
or feet. Queen Tiye statue shows the face of a woman in detail closed to the gods but without any body
parts and lastly The Virgin and Child Icon, is an expression of divinity of the views, reflections and
beliefs from the gospel. Because communities started to innovate on the art of carving and painting,
populations began to discover and/or create art with the objective of expressing different purposes of

Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven Analysis
Lone Ranger and Tonto FistFight in Heaven On a sunny, warm spring day in May, how does a high
school teacher grab students attention? Dreams, sex,and humor will intrigue some but add in the idea
of analyzing a person or character s psyche and even more eyes perk up. Student begin questioning,
how do dreams reveal a person s unconscious thoughts? They ponder: when friends are joking around,
it is to be funny or is there more too it? Students consider what type of argument can be formed is
support or defense of why young children make humorous and sexual comments. Some answers can
be discovered by examining literature through psychoanalysis. In fact, Freudian psychoanalysis,
especially of literature, reveals as much about characters as it does about real people and society in
general. When analyzing literature, Sherman Alexie, a critically acclaimed, novelist and poet provides
a humorous and honest insight into Native American culture and the challenges of assimilating into
mainstream society. His novels, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian and The Lone
Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, lead readers through the trials of growing up on a Native
American reservation. His adolescent protagonists, Junior and Victor, fight through their
disillusionment of Native American life in a humorous and relatable way. Combining Alexie s work
with that of Freud much can be gained about the mindset of Native American youths and the enigma
of society. Looking through

Third Wave Feminism
Have you ever seen a slut walk? I mean women walk around naked saying that they are not asking for
attention. Feminism originated in New York, 1848. The first wave of feminism in the United States
began with the Seneca Falls Convention, the first women s rights convention, held at the Wesleyan
Chapel in Seneca Falls, New York, on July 19 and 20, 1848. (Encyclopedia of Women and Religion in
North America:) Third Wave Feminism started in the mid 90 s. ( Four Waves of Feminism. ) More
women hate third wave feminism than men. Third Wave Feminism claims that North America is a
rape culture, that women are always right, and that all men are the same. We have no need for Third
Wave Feminism. Although people may claim that we need Third Wave Feminism in the United States
there are many reasons to prove that we indeed do not need this cancer in our country. Feminism is

The United States Legal Responsibility For Indian Education
According to Meza (2015), effects from the United States attempts to accommodate, assimilate, and
terminate the Indian are still being felt today. Many traditional Native American languages have
become extinct, and the future tribal leaders are struggling to perform at comparable levels with
mainstream American students. The upcoming generation does not know their traditional culture or
language. This threatens tribal sovereignty (Mesa, 2015). There are differing opinions regarding the
United States legal responsibility for Indian education. The Supreme Court has continually held that
Indian tribes are domestic dependent nations. However, Congress and the President agree the federal
government is responsible for the education of Indian students (Meza, 2015). To date, there have been
over 150 treaties between tribes and the United States. In 2001, the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act
reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Amendments to Title VII (Indian
Education) read as follows:
It is the policy of the United States to fulfill the Federal Government s unique and continuing trust
relationship with and responsibility to the Indian people for the education of Indian children. The
Federal Government will continue to ensure that programs that serve Indian children are of the highest
quality and provide for not only the basic elementary and secondary education needs, but also the
unique educational and culturally related academic needs of these

be a hard worker. I always do what I am told to do, especially when I am working. Whenever my boss

Evolution In Gift Of Cochise, All The Pretty Horses, And...
Consequently, as evidenced by the protagonists evolution in Gift of Cochise, All the Pretty Horses,
and The Martian, the foretold frontier hero defined in Turner frontier hypothesis only earns claim to
the title of hero after prospering in the face of unplanned isolation and proving their worth as a rugged
individual.
While Angie openly embraces the tumultuous life on the frontier for the sake of her family in The Gift
of Cochise, her heroism grows only after the abandonment of her husband through her steadfast
resolve to stand up against the ostensibly unjust Cochise. L amour conspicuously insinuates that the
initial motivation behind Angie s move westward is to support her husband and her future family. Her
choice of settlement most clearly illuminates her truly family focused intentions on moving west,
choosing a home with grass, water, and shelter from the wind, [that] Angie with an Irish eye for the
land saw would grow crops (L amour 58). L amour s description of Angie s familial role undoubtedly
evidences her unusually high power in her marital relationship. Her ability to dictate her family s
housing location bifurcates her from the rest of the 19th century women of her time, but she never
truly encapsulates the spirit of Turner s western hero while with Ed Lowe. Her implicit subservience
to Ed in the eyes of outsiders prevents her initially from exhibiting her heroic qualities, until she loses

Singer s Principle Of Equality
Singer s principle of equality is the equal, impartial consideration of all like interests (Singer, p. 20). It
is a non factual principle that presents an ideal, normative approach, rather than reflecting how the
world actually looks. It relates to racism as it is the neglect of the interests of a race, or the
prioritisation of a race that leads to racist policies (Study Guide, p. 63). Principle of equality would
require the interests are weighed impartially, and seeing as weighing interests based on race is as
arbitrary as hair colour or names and therefore irrelevant, it would eliminate much blatant racism.
Singer (p. 27)holds even if different averages in IQ among different races were found, it wouldn t
result in different treatment as intelligence doesn t affect basic human interests. This doesn t rule all
forms of racism, interests based on beliefs and statements, or attitudes and emotions are still
considered (Study guide, p. 58). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and all possible beings within the world. On the other hand, prior existence view of utilitarianism is an
approach that only cares about the utility of those that exist or will exist regardless of our actions
(Study Guide, p. 71). Total view utilitarianism (TVU) would advocate overpopulation (as it increases
overall utility), whereas prior existence utilitarian (PEU) would completely ignore future generations.
Consider the current discussion of the government forcing contraception on women on welfare. Ignore
right based approaches of bodily autonomy. The idea would be to avoid these women being a burden
and diverting resources away from existing children and to seek work/education. PUV would consider
that overall utility is higher as the resources aren t stretched, yet a TVU would disagree, they would

Sports In 19th Century America
In nineteenth century America, popularity and presence of sports increased dramatically. Sports
evolved from being associated as a children s pastime to that of a respected profession and man s
game. Sports were transforming not only into a job for the men who played, but also into a business
for the owners and a payday for gamblers. Prominent men in athletic circles favored an association
formed of clubs whose standing, financial and social, was of highest character (Janssen 5). Sports
became a respected business, officially leaving behind the childish association. Sport, recreation and
play were becoming more modern. Throughout the nineteenth century, Americans used sports,

As the increase in presence and respect for these recreation and play activities in America increased,
they transformed into organized sports where status and prowess were becoming exceedingly
important. This was seen in many people s desire to say that baseball originated in America and not as
a children s game that originated in Europe. Saying that baseball originated in America was a way to
display America s status to other countries in the world. It was imperative to people such as Albert
Spalding that America s baseball was perceived as important. Players were soon sent overseas for a
world tour, but who got to go had to be chosen very meticulously. They couldn t just ask for
volunteers, they had to choose the best players who had the right amount of skill and were men of
clean habits and attractive personality, men who would reflect credit upon the country and the game
(Spalding 252). It was critical for America and men who considered baseball a serious business to
prove to other countries around the world that they were of high status and that the sport that was
becoming ever present in the country deserved recognition and respect. This need for respect was also
represented on a less international basis by having expensive tickets, which limits the people who
could attend (Module 15c). It was crucial to portray baseball as exclusive and something that people
desired to be a part

Early Renaissance Vs. Renaissance Architecture
Early Renaissance architecture began in the early years from 1400 1500. During this era, classicism
played a huge role in architectural ideas as well as religious, secularization, and humanist influences.
This differed architecture from that time period to later mannerist architecture. Mannerism derived
from late renaissance architecture and continued through the early Baroque era in the years 1520
1600. The influences that changed the views on early architecture were the Sack of Rome, the
Copernican model of the universe, and the Protestant Reformation. The view in architecture during
these two time periods were quite different yet contained similarities due to the emerging work that
was inspired from early renaissance and into later mannerism.
The spirit of their revolutionary painting, sculpture, and architecture arose from the new Renaissance
worldview of humanism (and its accompanying condition of secularization), which celebrated
rationality and individuality and mankind s ability to make an act upon empirical observations of the
physical world. Humanist scholars and artists recovered Classical Greek and Roman texts, including
Vitruvius s De architectura, and aspired to create a modern world rivaling that of the ancients. (pg.
287)
Early Renaissance means rebirth, in this case rebirth of Greek and Roman culture. The traditional
views of the Renaissance emerged as a result of the fall of Constantinople in 1453. If the fall of
Constantinople would not have occurred,

characterize what they see as the NBPP s actively destructive extremism by pointing to examples such
as Muhammad s Million Youth March , a youth equivalent of the Million Man March in Harlem in
which 6000 people protested police brutality but also featured a range of speakers calling for the
extermination of whites in South Africa. The rally ended in scuffles with the NYPD as Muhammad

Chairs and bottles were thrown at the police but only a few in the conflict suffered injuries. Perhaps
more significantly was the fact that Al Sharpton appeared and spoke at this event, and was criticized

The Premier Artists Of The Italian High Renaissance
To start with, it seems important for me to define the concept artistic genius , which sheds the light
upon the mission any craftsman is going to manage. As far as I understood, the genius is the natural
talent or the outstanding skill, which allows the individual to perceive the objects and phenomena of
the everyday reality in the unconventional way. At the same time, the word artistic implies the
connection to any form of art: drawing, painting, sculpture and so on. All together, the artistic genius
is viewed by me as the complex of the intrinsic qualities, which finds its obvious embodiment in the
creative work. Therefore, by creating the particular piece of art, the maker is intended to transmit the
specific idea to the general public, which presupposes both the instruction and entertainment. ... Show

In this concern, the core characteristic of this period is the portrayal of the nudity and the natural
world (The Premier Artists of the Italian High Renaissance). This provides an explanation to the
renewed interest to the ancient culture, especially Greek and Roman, as well as the change of the
artistic canons. Here, it should be stressed that the High Renaissance has initiated the cult of
humanism, according to which, the man has been treated as the visual proof of God s power.
Moreover, the work of art has been considered as the result of the marvellous and hard labor rather
than the craft itself (The Premier Artists of the Italian High Renaissance). All in all, these changes are

Any such modeling in whole or part requires caution and humility, and the results are specific to the
model and its assumptions. They should not be endowed with a precision and certainty that is simply
impossible to achieve. The chief uncertainties with the impacts of climate change are ignorance of
time factor, technological advances, economics, policy, planning and society. These include the
difficulties of estimating the costs of technologies several decades into the future, as well as the way in
which fossil fuel prices evolve in the future. It is also hard to know how people will respond to price
changes.
Majority of current data uses time factors of different definitions that make such data hard to relate
from a reference line. For example is it possible to define the pre industrial era levels for health and
longevity of human life compared to current with respect to air pollution levels. Most data uses
probabilistic models to speculate for the variation in time. However, such models involve many
assumptions that inherently have uncertainties.
Technological advancements are hard to predict. The potential for, and costs of, technologies and
measures to cut emissions across different sectors is studied to weigh the impacts. Consider the case

The Life Of The Landscape Essay
The landscape changed quite drastically as we left the lush rainforest behind and entered the semi arid
region in the South of Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada. Green fir trees made way for golden
rolling hills and scrubby terrain. Adding a splash of colour to the otherwise dry looking terrain were
the green vineyards perched against the gentle sloping hills. This might come as a surprise, but
Canada s only desert is home to a growing wine community with many award winning wines being
produced here. Welcome to Osoyoos.
As we approached the town, a large lake came into view. Osoyoos Lake is the warmest freshwater
lake in Canada and is surrounded by pristine vineyards along its perimeter. 37 wineries are now a
member of The Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association, a non profit organization with a goal to develop
the wine industry in Oliver and Osoyoos through education and promotion. While driving through the
region, we decided to visit a few well known and lesser known wineries and learn about their history.

We passed many picturesque wineries as we drove through the valley, each offering wine tasting to
anyone who is keen to sample their BC wine. We stopped at Stoneboat Vineyards, a family owned
winery only 20 minutes from downtown Osoyoos. The lovely Julie Martiniuk greeted us, who
together with her husband Lanny, purchased a 15 acre orchard in 1979 and planted their first vines in
1983. 40 Years later, they now have over 48 acres and are producing award

Inherited Metabolism
The body uses a process called metabolism to break down carbohydrates, fat and protein in food and
chemicals in the system to convert that to energy that uses. Metabolism refers to all the chemical
reactions taking place in the body to convert or use energy ( Inherited Metabolic Disorders , 2017).
Metabolism also plays a key role excretion of wastes from the body by converting excess nitrogen to
waste products, which is disposed off the body through urine. Chemicals in the body have to be
equally transformed into other substances and moved inside cells. Waste, semi finished products and
raw materials, are often used, produced, moved, and excreted. The workers on the assembly line are

The diagnosis of the inherited metabolic disorders is conducted by routine testing and is normally
present at childbirth. Although this test is not conducted at childbirth many states are improving there
testing systems with use of improved technology. Thus, if the disorder is not detected at birth may go
undiagnosed until the symptoms present themselves on the patient, then a blood or DNA test can be
conducted to find out what type of disorder it is.
Treatment is quite limited for this sort of disorders because the genetic cause of the disorder can not be
corrected but this treatment that can help the patient such as reducing the intake of food or medicines

Don John, the Prince s brother, was a villain, (Shakespeare IV.ii.33 34)
The obvious conflict between Don John and Don Pedro develops the story of Much Ado About
Nothing. The men s differing interests create climactic deception and frustration. However, other
characters in the play do not always recognize this conflict, which accelerates Shakespeare s comic
conventions. The foil of these two characters and their actions emphasize particular character traits
between the families as well. In summary, Don John and Don Pedro s contrast proves important to the
function of the play because it creates conflict, builds dramatic irony, and develops characterization.
The majority of conflicts that occur in the play center around the contrast between Don John and Don
Pedro. Don John s strong envy for his brother, Don Pedro, initiates most of the disruptions. Don John
admits that he, had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in his [Don Pedro s] grace, (Shakespeare
I.iii.21). He commits to the promise of destroying Don Pedro, which he plans to uphold for the rest of
his life. For instance, when Don Pedro tries to influence the marriage of Claudio and Hero in Acts I
and II, Don John immediately tries to ruin his brother s reputation by spreading rumors. Don John
elaborates a fabricated story to Claudio, mentioning that Don Pedro loves Hero and wants her for
himself. Don Pedro and other characters fortunately exploit Don John s lies and intentions, which aim

The Creative Explosion By John Pfeiffer Essay
In the book, The Creative Explosion, John Pfeiffer addressed the issue of human origin, their cultures,
their religion, and social power. It takes into account the prehistoric art and how cave painting has
exploded over the years. This book can also be used to bring a deeper understanding of the then cold
war, the war on drugs, and the war on the common crimes in the modern world. The book also puts
into light the irony of how smart our ancestors were, despite their primitivism. The way the ancestors
used to spend their time also carried a major topic of discussion in the book. Hunting and gathering
are also considered important in the transformation of human beings culture.
This book offers an incredible account of the prehistoric times to the reader. It accurately explains how
cave arts evolved into the way in which human beings learned to express themselves in the following
historical advancements and cultures. It creates a link between the artistic ways of expression and its
relation to cultural ceremonies and practices during the ancient world. John Pfeiffer tries to explain the
human origin in a way that attracts readers to want more and more information for the origin of
humankind from the first form of hominids to the most current form of humanity; Homo sapiens. The
main purpose of the book is to show the importance of history in the modern lives by learning how
humans transformed. It puts into light the fact that, no human being or a group of humans has a

Comparing Confucianism and Christianity Essay
Comparing Confucianism and Christianity
The premise of Confucian teachings are centered around the idea of Jen or the ³virtue of humanity
(Ching 68).² To accomplish this divinity, five relationships must be honored: ruler and minister, father
and son, husband and wife, elder and younger brother, and friend and friend (Hopfe). These
relationships led a push for a revolution of the political system to adopt the methods of Jen. Confucius
sought to revive the ancient Chinese culture by redefining the importance of society and government.
He described a society governed by ³reasonable, humane, and just sensibilities, not by the passions of
individuals arbitrarily empowered by hereditary status² (Clearly). He felt that this ... Show more

Several scholars believe that his Heaven was analogous to the God unto which Christians served.
Christians feel that in order to also gain a Jen like status one must have a serious relationship with the
church and Jesus Christ himself. Confucius differed in that they feel that the body, mind and soul must
be recognized as one to reach Jen (Smith).
Through education or ritual practices one gains wealth. With wealth one achieved power. These are
the essentials to living a good life (O Briére).
However, relationships between men is the most desirable. These aspects are the embodiment of Li. Li
was love for authority and respect for others (Alexander).
Christianity also looks at wealth in a slightly different manner. ³At the heart of the Christian faith and
at its source of its traditions in Scripture is the belief in a covenant (Carmen 17).² It is the promise
between God and the individual that ensures (through faith) that one s kindly actions on Earth will be
divinely awarded. The five relationships of Jen are also honored in
Christianity with references to ³Honor thy father and mother, for this is the first commandment with
promise (Ephesians 6:1).² It is prevalent that Christianity and Confucius are very similar in their
philosophy. Some would argue that Confucius lack of a strong theology is its failure to comply with
the Christian ethics. Others would say it is there

Pablo Picasso s Cubism And Henri Matisse Fauvism
Art before the 20th century consisted of new styles and three dimensional spectrums to create the most
realistic painting possible. Portraits and landscapes were presented as sort of photographs with a paint
brush. Everything required specific fundamentals and anything different would be rejected and labeled
degenerate. During this time, foundations were put to the test and it was completely disordered by
revolutionary ideas and styles. This art influenced a vast majority of modern day art. Pablo Picasso s
cubism and Henri Matisse fauvism helped shape this era not only in style of painting, but a revolution
against conformity of a social artistic structure.

This gives it a much more vivid mood (Southgate, 1131).
Fauvism is an ideological style of painting that Henri Matisse is famously known for. Fauvism
consists of very strong colors that interfere with the realism portrayed by the painting. The goal of this
is to not only paint on a canvas, but create a story and all sorts of moods to the painting thanks to the
beautiful use of oddly realistic colors. This tactic also influenced some of Picasso s work, including
the Les Demoiselles d Avignon. These painting styles created a whole new era in traditional painting
that revolutionized art itself. Without these ideas, modern art will not be anywhere close to what it has
developed into. The influence these artists and their ideas took on 20th century art, changed art and
how we will see it forever.
Henri Matisse s Fauvism contributed to this revolutionary. Henri Matisse was born on December 31,
1869 and died on November 3, 1954. He was a French artist mostly recognized by his use of color and
diversity of spectrums in his art. Very much like Pablo Picasso, he was a draughtsman, printmaker,
and sculptor, but he was known primarily as a painter. He developed the idea of favism art in 20th
century art. A particular painting that Henri Matisse is known for is his Joy of Life (Le Bonheur de
Vivre) (1905 06). During Henri s Fauvism era, he

The Evolution Of Miley Cyrus Essay
The Evolution of Miley Cyrus
As Miley Cyrus s audience matured, she purposefully changed her image by creating a new star text
that was the polar opposite of her previous. A star text is everything that we associate with a start,
including their promotion and body of work. Her hit sitcom Hannah Montana built her previous brand
identity that connected with her audience of adolescent children. Miley s original image was known
for being a sweet and innocent teenage girl. Now her current start text identifies with heartbreak,
drugs, activism and nonconformity. The extreme change of start text shocked and dismayed
individuals. Many social media users and celebrity journalist wrote the transformation off implying it
as a lost girl in her twenties making slipups she will eventually regret. Despite the negative comments,
Miley has embraced her star text using it for free publicity and media attention. Despite Miley Cyrus s
claims that her controversial change was not for reward or fame. Her old star text became mundane to
mainstream media and her maturing audience, compelling her to reinvent her star text in order to
continue being famous and successful in the music industry.
To illustrate, many still remember Miley Cyrus as the sweet pop star and down to earth character from
her role as Hannah Montana on Disney Channel. At some point many fans believed that the
personality of Miley Cyrus corresponded to her role on Hannah Montana. In her authentic interviews

influences of previous artists and or styles for their work. The reuse of old ideas is present in many
artworks to date. One piece created in the last century is Seated Nude by Aristide Maillol which was
created in 1902. By using his experiences in France and his travels around Europe, Maillol
experienced many different cultures. With the presence of past cultural artifacts in our as influences in
Europe even today we see evidence of many past cultures. Classical Greek Art is one that is very
present even today. Seated Nude specifically shows Maillol s admiration of the Mediterranean with its
influences in Greek Classical Art. By the use of naturalistic and organic feature while highlighting
realism and humanism, Maillol shows Classical constructs through his piece.

Notes On Sumo Style Deadlift
Sumo Style Deadlift
The sumo style deadlift is easier to learn than the conventional style and although the concept is the
same, the exercise works different body parts. In this lift style, the lifter grabs the grip bar with arms
placed on the inside of legs and maintains a wider stance than the conventional lift. A sumo style lift
may not be the best way to pick up the most weight, but it is an easier position to learn the basics of
deadlifting (Roberts). Sumo style lifters need groin flexibility because in this stance, the hips are
closer to the bar and many push their knees out to get to the bar, rather than pushing the hips back. The
sumo stance also requires lifters to be much more upright, this adds an extra layer of muscle
engagement. In addition to the muscles worked out by a conventional deadlift, which include the
hamstrings, quads, and gluts, the sumo style lift also adds muscle engagement in the lower back and
some adductors (Roberts). Each stance comes with its problems and benefits for different body types.
In the sumo stance, there is a lower starting hip position. The sumo position allows for a more rounded
back to get the bar off the floor, but lifters often struggle at lockout in this position. Also, the sumo
deadlift has a smaller back angle compared to the conventional deadlift, which allows for more weight
to be lifted with a lesser degree of lower back strength. In the sumo lift, the barbell travel is minimized
because there is a shorter stroke. This

Relevance And Effectiveness Of Intelligence Tests
Emmanuel Ndukwe
AP Seminar
Mrs. Kristel Behrend
14 December 2015
The Relevance and Effectiveness of Intelligence Tests Intelligence tests are the most widely used
method for assessing intelligence. This method has developed greatly over the past several decades.
However, intelligence tests have continually been scrutinized for various reasons and due to this
criticism, one maycan suggest that intelligence tests may be inaccurate measurements of intelligence.
This issue is important because, in today s time, intelligence tests are used to determine various things
that pertain to individuals, and it would be wrong that for an individual to be put in a category in
which he or she does not fitis not to be in. The purpose of this paper is to prove this to its respective
audience by looking at our current standards of intelligence tests, what intelligence tests cover, various
flaws of intelligence and how to improve intelligence tests.
According to current standards, before an intelligence test can be used to assess intelligence, it must
meet certain criteria. An intelligence test must be reliable ( How Do We Measure Intelligence? ). The
reliability of a test refers to the consistency of the results of test takers ( How Do You Measure
Intelligence? ). If a test shows significant variation in its scores, then the results cannot be considered
accurate. Inaccurate scores cannot be used for other purposes such as predicting future information.

Persuasive Essay About Soccer
Soccer, also known as football is a sport played by millions all around the world. This is not only a
sport, but an activity available to anyone that offers valuable life lessons to those who play. Lessons
and skills such as leadership and teamwork, determination, and friendships are a few that I have gotten
out of playing soccer. Many people view soccer as a waste of two and a half hours because the game
becomes repetitive and predictable. The start off of the game is as follows, one team starts with
possession of the ball with the intention is to score a goal, while keeping it away from the other team
and vice versa. Watching the sport may seem boring to those who do not play because they don t
understand it. People who don t play soccer do not realize the amount of time and effort it takes to
excel in this sport, which comes down to the time spent practicing and conditioning. The more hours
spent on footwork and physical conditioning, the better you become. This sport can be extremely
physical, but it is also a mental game. It is important to be in the right mental state during a game
because distraction in the head leads to mistakes on the field. A strong mental state is extremely
important in soccer, as well as every day. The ability to multitask proves to be an advantage in the
game; when a player has the ball, they need to continue to move, look for open teammates on the
field, and maneuver around the opposing team simultaneously. People who understand this sport can

factors that Stone considers to pertain to an individual s natural environment include mental illness
that is coupled with psychosis, schizophrenia, manic depression, autism, and Aspergers Syndrome.
Also included in the list of natural factors are mental illnesses without psychosis such as ADD and
ADHD, alcoholism, epilepsy, and an inordinate sexual drive (201). Personality disorders are
considered to be inherent to an individual and are therefore considered to be a part of an individual s
natural environment; personality disorders include being antisocial, psychopathic, schizoid, sadistic,

physical/sexual/verbal abuse, parental abandonment and/or neglect, the loss of a parent, absence of a

However, if the consultant has been identified as an expert witness, only then is the work product

As an authority in the field, the forensic accountant is brought in during the discovery phase of

percent were found in unsheltered locations (Facts). People living in poverty are most likely have a

Trials and Tribulations of the Muslim Youth Today The Youth of Islam today are dwelling in a crisis
and it is a shame to say that most of them know not of what they are in engrossed in. Others out of
ignorance disobey the commandments of Allah (SWT) and the guidance of the Prophet, Muhammad
(SAW), thus bringing upon them the wrath and anger of Allah (SWT). The lack of authentic
knowledge and taqwa (fearing and being cautiously aware of Allah) allows the shaytaan to throw in
doubts and arrogance into the hearts of the young Muslims. This leads them directly towards the
wrong path and straight to the fire. Therefore without knowledge and a firm foundation of taqwa the
young Muslim well never see the light and the beauty of the religion they are obligated to embrace.
The lack of knowledge and taqwa also opens the doors to many major issues such as identity crisis,
venom of the media, bad companionship, love and attachment to the dunya, and lack of confidence.
Although there may be more reasons to the downfall of the youth these few that were mentioned are
the main issues that the youth must combat because they are things you deal with on a day to day

Spanish Speaking Countries Essay
American sports and Spanish speaking countries sports are very distinct to the countries cultures. In
Spanish speaking countries, many people play, watch, and are passionate for the sport fútbol (soccer).
Sports influence people s lives today in many ways, some being the culture of the sport, watching the
games on tv, or meeting your role model sports player. Soccer in America is looked at way differently
than fútbol (soccer) in Spanish speaking countries. Soccer here in America is looked at as a fun family
night with food, drinks, and merchandise. While in Spanish speaking countries they see fútbol (soccer)
as a way of life. They eat, sleep, and breathe the sport. They are very passionate in watching and
playing it.
In America the approximate amount of people that watch soccer is 14,156,000. In Spanish speaking
countries that number goes way up. There about 15.9 million people that watch soccer on average.
The number one ranked sport in the U.S is American Football. Soccer is ranked number three. In
Spanish speaking countries the number one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drug rule is that you cannot take steroids or use any drugs if you play football. You get tested
every so often to make sure people don t break this rule. If you do your punishment ranges from
suspensions to paying money. The game American Football is played the same in both places. You
have 4 downs until the ball goes to the other team, you get 6 points for a touchdown and can either go
for 2 or kick a field goal. Lastly, drafting is the same. In America if you play college football and want
to get drafted you go to the NFL draft and wait to hear your name. If you do not hear your name, then
you did not make it. In Spanish speaking countries it goes the same way except there is less
competition in the sport for

Review Of Ruth Ozeki s My Year Of Meats
My Year of Meats is a novel by Ruth L. Ozeki, exploring the differences between the food cultures of
America and Japan with the culture of generalizations on both. Through the exploration of the
Japanese and American views and food culture, and beef products points out the differences in the
views of the people from the two countries. For example, Akiko s husband believes that, if she learns
to cook and eat an American diet full of meat, it would be easier for her to grow fatter and to get
pregnant (Ozeki 37). In his attempts to make his wife adopt the American diet, he compels Akiko to
watch the show, My American wife, where each weekly half hour episode...culminated in the
celebration of a featured meat, climaxing in its glorious consumption ... Show more content on

In the book, the stereotypes hold in America are portrayed through Jane, who is of a Caucasian and
Japanese descent, and also Jane is the symbolic connection between the American and Japanese
cultures. Ozeki writes about Jane that, Being racially half neither here nor there I was uniquely suited
to the niche I was to occupy in the television industry (9). In the book, Ozeki communicates the
superiority perceived from the American culture and the stereotypical view that they are more
successful using the case of Jane (Ozeki 34). The evidence reveals the stereotypical views about
American success and superiority of their diet styles including the success of Jane with the TV show
and her figure. In one case, the character of John is used to communicate the stereotypical views
established by Americans and accepted in Japan, after he comments on her intelligence and height,
which he attributes to her Caucasian descent. Due to the perceived superiority established by the
American people and accepted globally, the diet of more meat easily recognized as a healthier and
more nutritional, as characters such as John s attribute to Americans. The stereotypical views about
America and other countries include that America is superior to Japan, which demonstrates through
the acceptance of the American food culture of

The Problem Of Prescription Drugs
There is also the issue of many people forgoing certain needs in order to not have to reduce their
prescription use. Rather than forcing themselves to space out their medication more than they are
supposed to be as prescribed, these people start cost cutting in other areas of their lives. Many will
forgo basic needs, such as food, in order to get to a point of affordability of their medication. This cost
cutting generally can occur before the gap, just as drug reduction does, and typically continues
through the gap until catastrophic coverage is reached, or until they reach the next year and reset the
entire process (Madden and Graves, 2009; Nekhlyudov and Madden, 2011; Zivin and Madden, 2009).
The danger of medication nonadherence also comes in the health outcomes of those who fail to
adhere. As explained above, when there is an increase in out of pocket spending required to get
prescription drugs, there is an increase in noncompliance of medication usage. This increase in
noncompliance can lead to an increase in a variety of negative outcomes in health. These can be
regression or complication of the illness that was being medicated, emergency room trips and even
admission into hospitals. No matter which negative health outcome occurs, it means a decrease in
overall health for the Medicare beneficiary (Dalen, 2009; Stuart, 2005; Zhang and Donohue, 2009).
This not only puts a strain on the beneficiary, once again spiking stress with illness relapse or hospital
issues, but

Chicana Epistemology
A general definition of Epistemology is the theory of knowledge; it s methods, validity, and scope.
From a Chicana Feminism standpoint, I believe it is how we analyze knowledge from the culture that
influences our daily lives. Chicanas strive and grow through the teachings and stories of past activists
which tells us the changes that have been made and the changes that are still to come. They are
important because it gives us different perspectives and understandings of Chicana history. Not every
story it the same, but there is a connection. Through this theory, we all gain the opportunity to see
through a Chicana feminist scope into each other s stories.
Elba Rosario Sanchez wrote a piece from A Critical Reader: Chicana Feminisms titled
Cartrohistography: One Voice s Continent in which she explains how she became her own territory. I

Cantu wrote an interesting novel titled Canicula: Snapshots of a Girlhood en la Frontera which she
categorizes it as a self reflection . She has found inspiration in written work by women who have
published similar works: Gloria Anzaldua, Sandra Cisneros, and Cherrie Moraga are all women who
published pieces that challenged traditional genres. Their creative non fiction stories widen the
feminist standpoint and create knowledge on their individual struggles. Unbeknownst to me, this new
genre, creative non fiction, was coming into being just as I was planning and writing Canicula in the
spring and summer of 1993, (98). As the genre was on the rise, Cantu was discovering a new side to
her writing. Chicana Feminist Epistemology relates to this because women of color writers
encouraged Cantu to embrace her own heritage in her writing. Canicula is a critical work of fiction
and an ethnography, (104). Her novel intersects both her skills and is an example of Chicana Feminist
work that contains other histories of influential women non creative

Ratio Analysis Report
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of the following report is to aid Over the Hill Pty Ltd in planning the direction that the
company may want to go over the next few years. The report entails a financial analysis and
summaries, which will give the executive board an understanding of how well the current managing
director is performing, and whether his contract should be renewed.
Figures were obtained from comparative balance sheets and profit and loss statements from the
relevant years as well as additional information that was forwarded by the board. This information
enabled the development of percentage and ratio analysis (see appendices), which was then used to
create the report.
The investigation revealed that the company had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The receivables turnover has significantly decreased over the three year period and has indicated an
improvement in the crediting procedures that have been developed within the company. The average
collection period has decreased significantly to an average of 42 days, which enables the company to
use this money within the business at an earlier stage.
Poor sales and lower inventory balances in 2001 contributed to the inventory turnover dropping to
almost 3 times a year. This improved slightly in 2002 as sales picked up within the business. This does
affect the liquidity but does not have a real damaging effect to the products sold due to the nature of
the business (antiques).
The liquidity ratios do indicate that Over the Hill Pty Ltd is in a stable position and is a reasonably
liquid business. This would need to be carefully observed over time tough to guarantee the short term
obligations of the business.
SOLVENCY
The debt and Equity ratios are valuable tools used to indicate asset protection and therefore the long
term stability of the company. Over the Hill Pty Ltd had a strong long term position in 2000 due to the
smaller amount of liabilities it had. As these liabilities have grown, the assets have fluctuated slightly
but have not increased much in the three year

Life of a Merchant in 1700s
The Turbulent Life of a Merchant in the Revolutionary Era The following paper, through the mind and
words of a fictionalized character, examines the crucial issues and various changes the imperial
relationship between Great Britain and its North American colonies underwent in the mid to late
eighteenth century. Drawing upon various historical events and enactments, the story of Gerald
Gardner, a Bostonian merchant, will try to synthesize these events and provide a reflection upon the
American Revolution from the point of view of those who shared his line of work. While the
following opinions expressed display the feelings and attitudes of one man, the same cannot be
applied historically to all of the merchant class. The characters and ... Show more content on

The reform also ordered the officers to transmit exact Accounts of the Imports and Exports in their
several Districts, of the state of the Revenue, and of the illicit Commerce with other European States
(Greene, 15). The reform of the customs service would ensure no financial transaction would go
unaccounted for and provided the manpower to meet that objective. A year later in 1764, the passing
of the Sugar Act provided for arbitrary vice admiralty courts to be established for the purpose of
overseeing enforcement cases (Greene, 24). The reforms in trade policy may not have drastically
changed the lives for many colonists, but for a merchant like Gerald Gardner they ushered in
extravagant changes. Gerald Gardner, in a December of 1763 diary entry, reflects upon the life
changes the customs reforms forced him to undergo. The newly enacted customs regulations have had
a most detrimental effect upon business. The original reforms back in 1763 and the Sugar Act of the
following year have provided for what seem to me unlawful searches and seizures of ships and cargo.
Violators of the law have had their ships and cargo taken by the British who in turn sell the assets. The
proceeds are divided into thirds split evenly amongst the English treasury, the governor of the
respective colony, and lastly the officers responsible for prosecuting the

  • 2. We Needs Energy For A Successful Existence Essay Introduction The humanity needs energy for a successful existence. However, the amount of fossil fuel is decreasing every day. Proved global reserves of oil and gas, at current rates of consumption, would be adequate to meet demand for another 40 and 60 years, respectively. Moreover, using of traditional sources of energy causes the greenhouse gases emission. These gases keep heat energy of electromagnetic waves at lower atmosphere. The process that produces this difference between the actual surface temperature and the effective temperature is due to the atmosphere and is known as the greenhouse effect. One of the main consumers of fossil fuel and source of the greenhouse gases is buildings. The solution of this problem is upgrade our houses; make them smarter, environmentally friendly and effective. Moreover, the smart homes will have many devices, which will replace the big part of routine tasks, and life of people will be much easier. (Stephene S. Intille, 2006). Governments support the building of eco buildings, because they emit less carbon dioxide. For example, in the UK it planned to reduce emissions by 2050 (DECC 2011, 30). Moreover, building of eco houses will improve IT and alternative energy technologies. This paper will argue that building of eco houses is the best way of future architecture and building technologies. At this research project, I used basic criteria. First of them is economic benefits for average income people. Second criteria is the degree of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dark Comedy As A Satire Johana Garcia Cinema 3 Dark comedy is a subgenre of comedy and satire that has a way of making over sensitive topics into pure hilarity. The term black comedy was created by French surrealist Andre Breton in his book Anthology of Black Humor claiming that black humor is sympathizing with The abuser while poking fun at the victim. Although Andre is not wrong black comedy is a difficult genre to incorporate because it is willing to push the limit on what subjects the public can find funny. As for the next aspect, black comedies are shrouded in the idea that we live in an absurd world because, otherwise, the film would simply be sick or serious and certainly not comical. In the 1960s, themes which had previously been dealt with only in the most serious fashion were suddenly subject to burlesque, or parody, thus creating black comedy. This is because Dr. Strangelove (1964)(Strangelove s comedy heavily release one the actors saying very ridiculous things in very ... • 4. Deviance in Hockey Violence in ice hockey has been an identifying staple in the sport since the first hockey leagues formed in the mid 1880 s, (Ice Hockey Origins, Growth and Changes in the Game). Since the modern era of hockey, and the creation of the Stanley Cup, hockey has been viewed as one of the most violent sports in western civilization. Clarence Campbell, former NHL President has even said that [w]ithout violence, there would be no such thing as hockey, (Coakley). To an extent hockey is unmatched in illegal assaults by any other sport, in both amateur and professional leagues, (Colburn). This does not mean that the contact in other sports is not as intense as hockey, for example rugby and football are both very violent sports, but this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This institutionalization created a different atmosphere around the entire world of sport. Sports became something that men and women could participate in as well as small children. Because of this universalization of sport it began to attract the attention of everyone, rather than just the participants. With a new audience came a new set of views and interpretations of what sports were and most sports fit into this new set of norms, and if not they adapted to fit into them. Hockey, however, did not conform to these new norms. Violence, fistfights specifically, in hockey are viewed as deviant because; that very type of violence is statistically rare in institutionalized sports and it is harmful to individuals, the sport of hockey, and society as a whole. This violence also violates the norms that society has created for competitive sport. Because of these harms, the rarity of such violence in sports, and the violation of the norms, a negative societal reaction forms. One of the ways that an act can contract a deviant label is by its statistical rarity, (Bereska). Violence, such as the fistfights seen in hockey, is a statistical rarity. Statistical rarity in this sense means that the type of violence seen in hockey, and the volume that it is seen in hockey, is unheard of in any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Rivalry Of Elizabeth Rivalry between Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots Religion is a main reason why Elizabeth executed Mary. Evidence which supports this reason is that some English Catholics would have preferred Mary as Queen of England. This would have made Elizabeth feel as she would need to execute Mary because Mary gave Catholics a reason to rebel against Elizabeth. Elizabeth was a protestant queen and most Catholics preferred a queen of their own belief. Thus, this was the best time to rebel against Elizabeth and gain a new catholic queen who lead the country. All they had to do, was releasing her from imprisonment. An argument in support of this evidence is that in 1570 the Pope issued a Bull ordering. Catholics should disobey Elizabeth because she was heretic. Catholics must follow the Pope and believe in him as the legitimate head of church. McLaren describes that not solely the papal bull had consequences in the year 1570, but also James Stewart s assassination: If the near conjunction of the papal bull and the Northern Rebellion does not explain the change in character of English anti Catholicism, 1570 still remains a key date in its career. The key event, however, belongs to a British history whose parameters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would give the Catholics courage to take Elizabeth off the throne and crown a catholic queen instead, as this is what the Pope wanted. A further piece of evidence is the Northern rebellion of 1569. It was a catholic attempt to replace Elizabeth with Mary. This would have made Elizabeth feel that she would need to execute Mary because this event happened so quickly as she has only been there for a year. Mary did not agree to it because she knew it would fail. Religion links to other factors such as dynastic reasons, because Mary said she was the rightful Queen of England and Elizabeth was illegitimate because the Catholics did not believe in ... • 9. The United States Legal Responsibility For Indian Education According to Meza (2015), effects from the United States attempts to accommodate, assimilate, and terminate the Indian are still being felt today. Many traditional Native American languages have become extinct, and the future tribal leaders are struggling to perform at comparable levels with mainstream American students. The upcoming generation does not know their traditional culture or language. This threatens tribal sovereignty (Mesa, 2015). There are differing opinions regarding the United States legal responsibility for Indian education. The Supreme Court has continually held that Indian tribes are domestic dependent nations. However, Congress and the President agree the federal government is responsible for the education of Indian students (Meza, 2015). To date, there have been over 150 treaties between tribes and the United States. In 2001, the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Amendments to Title VII (Indian Education) read as follows: It is the policy of the United States to fulfill the Federal Government s unique and continuing trust relationship with and responsibility to the Indian people for the education of Indian children. While Angie openly embraces the tumultuous life on the frontier for the sake of her family in The Gift of Cochise, her heroism grows only after the abandonment of her husband through her steadfast resolve to stand up against the ostensibly unjust Cochise. L amour conspicuously insinuates that the initial motivation behind Angie s move westward is to support her husband and her future family. Her choice of settlement most clearly illuminates her truly family focused intentions on moving west, choosing a home with grass, water, and shelter from the wind, [that] Angie with an Irish eye for the land saw would grow crops (L amour 58). L amour s description of Angie s familial role undoubtedly evidences her unusually high power in her marital relationship. Her ability to dictate her family s housing location bifurcates her from the rest of the 19th century women of her time, but she never truly encapsulates the spirit of Turner s western hero while with Ed Lowe. • 12. Singer s Principle Of Equality Singer s principle of equality is the equal, impartial consideration of all like interests (Singer, p. 20). It is a non factual principle that presents an ideal, normative approach, rather than reflecting how the world actually looks. It relates to racism as it is the neglect of the interests of a race, or the prioritisation of a race that leads to racist policies (Study Guide, p. 63). Principle of equality would require the interests are weighed impartially, and seeing as weighing interests based on race is as arbitrary as hair colour or names and therefore irrelevant, it would eliminate much blatant racism. Singer (p. 27)holds even if different averages in IQ among different races were found, it wouldn t result in different treatment as intelligence doesn t affect basic human interests. Sports evolved from being associated as a children s pastime to that of a respected profession and man s game. Prominent men in athletic circles favored an association formed of clubs whose standing, financial and social, was of highest character (Janssen 5). As the increase in presence and respect for these recreation and play activities in America increased, they transformed into organized sports where status and prowess were becoming exceedingly important. This was seen in many people s desire to say that baseball originated in America and not as a children s game that originated in Europe. Saying that baseball originated in America was a way to display America s status to other countries in the world. It was imperative to people such as Albert Spalding that America s baseball was perceived as important. Players were soon sent overseas for a world tour, but who got to go had to be chosen very meticulously. They couldn t just ask for volunteers, they had to choose the best players who had the right amount of skill and were men of clean habits and attractive personality, men who would reflect credit upon the country and the game (Spalding 252). It was critical for America and men who considered baseball a serious business to prove to other countries around the world that they were of high status and that the sport that was becoming ever present in the country deserved recognition and respect. This need for respect was also represented on a less international basis by having expensive tickets, which limits the people who could attend (Module 15c). • 14. Early Renaissance Vs. Renaissance Architecture Early Renaissance architecture began in the early years from 1400 1500. During this era, classicism played a huge role in architectural ideas as well as religious, secularization, and humanist influences. This differed architecture from that time period to later mannerist architecture. Mannerism derived from late renaissance architecture and continued through the early Baroque era in the years 1520 1600. The influences that changed the views on early architecture were the Sack of Rome, the Copernican model of the universe, and the Protestant Reformation. The view in architecture during these two time periods were quite different yet contained similarities due to the emerging work that was inspired from early renaissance and into later mannerism. The spirit of their revolutionary painting, sculpture, and architecture arose from the new Renaissance worldview of humanism (and its accompanying condition of secularization), which celebrated rationality and individuality and mankind s ability to make an act upon empirical observations of the physical world. Humanist scholars and artists recovered Classical Greek and Roman texts, including Vitruvius s De architectura, and aspired to create a modern world rivaling that of the ancients. (pg. 287) Early Renaissance means rebirth, in this case rebirth of Greek and Roman culture. The traditional views of the Renaissance emerged as a result of the fall of Constantinople in 1453. The rally ended in scuffles with the NYPD as Muhammad urged the crowd to attack those officers who had attempted to confiscate the NBPP members guns. The Premier Artists Of The Italian High Renaissance To start with, it seems important for me to define the concept artistic genius , which sheds the light upon the mission any craftsman is going to manage. As far as I understood, the genius is the natural talent or the outstanding skill, which allows the individual to perceive the objects and phenomena of the everyday reality in the unconventional way. At the same time, the word artistic implies the connection to any form of art: drawing, painting, sculpture and so on. All together, the artistic genius is viewed by me as the complex of the intrinsic qualities, which finds its obvious embodiment in the creative work. Therefore, by creating the particular piece of art, the maker is intended to transmit the specific idea to the general public, which presupposes both the instruction and entertainment. ... • 19. The Life Of The Landscape Essay The landscape changed quite drastically as we left the lush rainforest behind and entered the semi arid region in the South of Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada. Green fir trees made way for golden rolling hills and scrubby terrain. Adding a splash of colour to the otherwise dry looking terrain were the green vineyards perched against the gentle sloping hills. This might come as a surprise, but Canada s only desert is home to a growing wine community with many award winning wines being produced here. Welcome to Osoyoos. As we approached the town, a large lake came into view. Osoyoos Lake is the warmest freshwater lake in Canada and is surrounded by pristine vineyards along its perimeter. 37 wineries are now a member of The Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association, a non profit organization with a goal to develop the wine industry in Oliver and Osoyoos through education and promotion. While driving through the region, we decided to visit a few well known and lesser known wineries and learn about their history. Stoneboat Vineyards We passed many picturesque wineries as we drove through the valley, each offering wine tasting to anyone who is keen to sample their BC wine. We stopped at Stoneboat Vineyards, a family owned winery only 20 minutes from downtown Osoyoos. The lovely Julie Martiniuk greeted us, who together with her husband Lanny, purchased a 15 acre orchard in 1979 and planted their first vines in 1983. 40 Years later, they now have over 48 acres and are producing award ... • 21. Don John And Don Pedro Character Analysis Battling Brothers Don John, the Prince s brother, was a villain, (Shakespeare IV.ii.33 34) The obvious conflict between Don John and Don Pedro develops the story of Much Ado About Nothing. The men s differing interests create climactic deception and frustration. However, other characters in the play do not always recognize this conflict, which accelerates Shakespeare s comic conventions. The foil of these two characters and their actions emphasize particular character traits between the families as well. In summary, Don John and Don Pedro s contrast proves important to the function of the play because it creates conflict, builds dramatic irony, and develops characterization. The majority of conflicts that occur in the play center around the contrast between Don John and Don Pedro. Don John s strong envy for his brother, Don Pedro, initiates most of the disruptions. Don John admits that he, had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in his [Don Pedro s] grace, (Shakespeare I.iii.21). Comparing Confucianism and Christianity Essay Comparing Confucianism and Christianity The premise of Confucian teachings are centered around the idea of Jen or the ³virtue of humanity (Ching 68).² To accomplish this divinity, five relationships must be honored: ruler and minister, father and son, husband and wife, elder and younger brother, and friend and friend (Hopfe). These relationships led a push for a revolution of the political system to adopt the methods of Jen. Fauvism is an ideological style of painting that Henri Matisse is famously known for. Fauvism consists of very strong colors that interfere with the realism portrayed by the painting. This tactic also influenced some of Picasso s work, including the Les Demoiselles d Avignon. These painting styles created a whole new era in traditional painting that revolutionized art itself. • 29. Notes On Sumo Style Deadlift Sumo Style Deadlift The sumo style deadlift is easier to learn than the conventional style and although the concept is the same, the exercise works different body parts. In this lift style, the lifter grabs the grip bar with arms placed on the inside of legs and maintains a wider stance than the conventional lift. A sumo style lift may not be the best way to pick up the most weight, but it is an easier position to learn the basics of deadlifting (Roberts). Sumo style lifters need groin flexibility because in this stance, the hips are closer to the bar and many push their knees out to get to the bar, rather than pushing the hips back. The sumo stance also requires lifters to be much more upright, this adds an extra layer of muscle engagement. In addition to the muscles worked out by a conventional deadlift, which include the hamstrings, quads, and gluts, the sumo style lift also adds muscle engagement in the lower back and some adductors (Roberts). Each stance comes with its problems and benefits for different body types. In the sumo stance, there is a lower starting hip position. The sumo position allows for a more rounded back to get the bar off the floor, but lifters often struggle at lockout in this position. Also, the sumo deadlift has a smaller back angle compared to the conventional deadlift, which allows for more weight to be lifted with a lesser degree of lower back strength. In the sumo lift, the barbell travel is minimized because there is a shorter stroke. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yusuf Jaaber Islamic Studies October 24, 2015 Trials and Tribulations of the Muslim Youth Today The Youth of Islam today are dwelling in a crisis and it is a shame to say that most of them know not of what they are in engrossed in. Others out of ignorance disobey the commandments of Allah (SWT) and the guidance of the Prophet, Muhammad (SAW), thus bringing upon them the wrath and anger of Allah (SWT). The lack of authentic knowledge and taqwa (fearing and being cautiously aware of Allah) allows the shaytaan to throw in doubts and arrogance into the hearts of the young Muslims. This leads them directly towards the wrong path and straight to the fire. In the book, Ozeki communicates the superiority perceived from the American culture and the stereotypical view that they are more successful using the case of Jane (Ozeki 34). The evidence reveals the stereotypical views about American success and superiority of their diet styles including the success of Jane with the TV show and her figure. In one case, the character of John is used to communicate the stereotypical views established by Americans and accepted in Japan, after he comments on her intelligence and height, which he attributes to her Caucasian descent. • 44. The Problem Of Prescription Drugs There is also the issue of many people forgoing certain needs in order to not have to reduce their prescription use. Rather than forcing themselves to space out their medication more than they are supposed to be as prescribed, these people start cost cutting in other areas of their lives. Many will forgo basic needs, such as food, in order to get to a point of affordability of their medication. This cost cutting generally can occur before the gap, just as drug reduction does, and typically continues through the gap until catastrophic coverage is reached, or until they reach the next year and reset the entire process (Madden and Graves, 2009; Nekhlyudov and Madden, 2011; Zivin and Madden, 2009). The danger of medication nonadherence also comes in the health outcomes of those who fail to adhere. As explained above, when there is an increase in out of pocket spending required to get prescription drugs, there is an increase in noncompliance of medication usage. This increase in noncompliance can lead to an increase in a variety of negative outcomes in health. These can be regression or complication of the illness that was being medicated, emergency room trips and even admission into hospitals. No matter which negative health outcome occurs, it means a decrease in overall health for the Medicare beneficiary (Dalen, 2009; Stuart, 2005; Zhang and Donohue, 2009). This not only puts a strain on the beneficiary, once again spiking stress with illness relapse or hospital issues, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Chicana Epistemology A general definition of Epistemology is the theory of knowledge; it s methods, validity, and scope. From a Chicana Feminism standpoint, I believe it is how we analyze knowledge from the culture that influences our daily lives. Chicanas strive and grow through the teachings and stories of past activists which tells us the changes that have been made and the changes that are still to come. They are important because it gives us different perspectives and understandings of Chicana history. Not every story it the same, but there is a connection. Through this theory, we all gain the opportunity to see through a Chicana feminist scope into each other s stories. Cantu wrote an interesting novel titled Canicula: Snapshots of a Girlhood en la Frontera which she categorizes it as a self reflection . She has found inspiration in written work by women who have published similar works: Gloria Anzaldua, Sandra Cisneros, and Cherrie Moraga are all women who published pieces that challenged traditional genres. Their creative non fiction stories widen the feminist standpoint and create knowledge on their individual struggles. Unbeknownst to me, this new genre, creative non fiction, was coming into being just as I was planning and writing Canicula in the spring and summer of 1993, (98). As the genre was on the rise, Cantu was discovering a new side to her writing. Chicana Feminist Epistemology relates to this because women of color writers encouraged Cantu to embrace her own heritage in her writing. Canicula is a critical work of fiction and an ethnography, (104). Her novel intersects both her skills and is an example of Chicana Feminist work that contains other histories of influential women non creative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The receivables turnover has significantly decreased over the three year period and has indicated an improvement in the crediting procedures that have been developed within the company. The average collection period has decreased significantly to an average of 42 days, which enables the company to use this money within the business at an earlier stage. Poor sales and lower inventory balances in 2001 contributed to the inventory turnover dropping to almost 3 times a year. This improved slightly in 2002 as sales picked up within the business. This does affect the liquidity but does not have a real damaging effect to the products sold due to the nature of the business (antiques). The liquidity ratios do indicate that Over the Hill Pty Ltd is in a stable position and is a reasonably liquid business. This would need to be carefully observed over time tough to guarantee the short term obligations of the business. SOLVENCY The debt and Equity ratios are valuable tools used to indicate asset protection and therefore the long term stability of the company. Life of a Merchant in 1700s The Turbulent Life of a Merchant in the Revolutionary Era The following paper, through the mind and words of a fictionalized character, examines the crucial issues and various changes the imperial relationship between Great Britain and its North American colonies underwent in the mid to late eighteenth century. Drawing upon various historical events and enactments, the story of Gerald Gardner, a Bostonian merchant, will try to synthesize these events and provide a reflection upon the American Revolution from the point of view of those who shared his line of work. While the following opinions expressed display the feelings and attitudes of one man, the same cannot be applied historically to all of the merchant class. The characters and ... The reform also ordered the officers to transmit exact Accounts of the Imports and Exports in their several Districts, of the state of the Revenue, and of the illicit Commerce with other European States (Greene, 15). The reform of the customs service would ensure no financial transaction would go unaccounted for and provided the manpower to meet that objective. A year later in 1764, the passing of the Sugar Act provided for arbitrary vice admiralty courts to be established for the purpose of overseeing enforcement cases (Greene, 24). The reforms in trade policy may not have drastically changed the lives for many colonists, but for a merchant like Gerald Gardner they ushered in extravagant changes. Gerald Gardner, in a December of 1763 diary entry, reflects upon the life changes the customs reforms forced him to undergo. The newly enacted customs regulations have had a most detrimental effect upon business. The original reforms back in 1763 and the Sugar Act of the following year have provided for what seem to me unlawful searches and seizures of ships and cargo. Violators of the law have had their ships and cargo taken by the British who in turn sell the assets. The proceeds are divided into thirds split evenly amongst the English treasury, the governor of the respective colony, and lastly the officers responsible for prosecuting the ...
