The Armed Forces
I am against the inclusion of women in the armed forces based on the utilitarian concepts of the
happiness of society as a whole, and the effectiveness of the armed services. I also draw conclusions
from the Aristotelian principles of justice and women s ability to be worthy of being soldiers
Since the repeal of Don t Ask, Don t Tell in 2011, there has been a quiet uproar over the idea of female
combat forces in our military. There are strong arguments from either side of the aisle; The
maintaining of historical values in the military, or the modernization of our armed forces. Most are
political or social arguments, pathos rhetoric in a logos dispute.
Taking a philosophical perspective on the case of women in the military would entail looking at the
problem from two sides: the effect it would have on society and the effect it has on the Armed Forces.
To argue it from either side will require the ascertaining of concepts based on great thinkers such
Bentham, Nozick, and Aristotle.
The defense of women in the military comes from the libertarian perspective that people have a
natural right to take part in any activity that they want to and have the ability to. Arguments for being
able to enlist in the active combat services of the military could be drawn parallel to the arguments
against the draft and forced enlistment.
The draft forced members of the American public to participate in a war they often did not believe in.
This was a breach of the American people s rights to

Analysis Of What More Can I Say From The 1991 Musical...
What More Can I Say from the 1991 musical Falsettos is a song which expresses one man s love for
his partner in a heartfelt way. The song is written from the point of view of Marvin, a father who has
rediscovered love for his boyfriend, Whizzer. Throughout the song, the authors, James Lapine and
William Finn, use common metaphors about love to display Marvin s emotions and confusion. In
stanza one, for example, lines four and five, Marvin states ...but when he sparkles, the earth begins to
sway... which is a metaphor for the fact that he finds himself lost in Whizzer and his affection for him.
The lyrics of the song make it easy to identify the its tone, which is affectionate and caring. In stanza
two, lines three and four, comes the line

Victor Frankenstein As A Monster
Mary Shelley describes how the behaviors of the characters in the story led to their downfall. In
Frankenstein, the main character, Victor Frankenstein is very irresponsible and naïve. His creation, the
monster is hideous and hopeless. When Victor was a young child, science was his favorite subject
because he was fascinated with experiments. He enjoyed and continued reading outdated books by
Agrippa to expand his knowledge in science, even though his father discouraged him to do so. Victor
was determined to fulfill his desires because he wanted to create his own innovation that would
benefit society. After Victor had become a student at the University of Ingolstadt, he locked himself in
the laboratory and worked hard to prove his theory on creating human life. When his creation was
nothing like Victor imagined, the start of his self destruction begins. While both humans and machines
rely heavily on information to acquire knowledge, machines are more sensible under any
circumstances.
Victor Frankenstein is introduced as an ambitious young man who aspires to be a scientist that finds
answers to all his questions. According to Shelley (2003), I opened it with apathy; the theory which he
attempts to demonstrate, and the wonderful facts which he relates, soon changed this feeling into
enthusiasm (34). When Victor discovered the works of Cornelius Agrippa, he suddenly found life
meaningful because natural philosophy caught his attention. Regardless of what people say, Victor

Operation Red Wings As A Multi Phase Joint Military Operation
Operation Red Wings was an operation that took place on June 27th, 2005 in northeastern Afghanistan
s Kunar province. The Afghan Parliamentary elections were scheduled for September of 2005, and
Red Wings was supposed to disrupt insurgent activity in the area. The operation, had it gone as
planned, would have helped bring stability to the region and facilitated successful elections later that
year. Red Wings was supposed to be a multi phase joint military operation. It was planned by the
Marines to be executed by SOF and Marines jointly. Due to bad planning, decision making and
resource management, the operation was a failure and never made it past the first phase. Phase one

The team observed the NAI for the first few hours on the 28th. They continued to try and get
communications with their higher headquarters. That afternoon when they were observing, the team
heard footsteps and when they realized an unsuspecting group of goat and sheep herders had walked
up on their position, they took action. They immediately surrounded the three Afghans. The team
realized they had been compromised and discussed their options. They worried that if they let the men
go, they would alert Shah and his men of their location. They could not kill unarmed civilians because
ROE prohibited it. It is debated how the decision was made via vote or other means, but ultimately the
team ended up letting the men leave to walk back down the mountainside. Because they had been
spotted, the team immediately grabbed their gear and relocated to a previous location that they had
found unsuitable for observing the village. It had been several hours since the release of the three men.
They assumed the sheep herders did not give away their position until they began to hear footsteps to
the rear and flank of their position. The team estimated a group of approximately 80 men at first. Shah
had positioned his men above the SEALS and to the flank taking advantage of the team s poor
location on the side of Sawtalo Sar. His men also had reliable communications and the SEAL team

Ratio Analysis of Boeing
The Boeing Company operates in the industry of aerospace and defense. The largest aerospace
company, Boeing is the #2 maker of large commercial jets (behind rival Airbus) and the #2 defense
contractor behind Lockheed Martin. The aerospace and defense industry did suffer the effects of a post
9/11 society. Because of the weakened and fearful tourism market, spending on commercial aircraft
did decrease. But recently, revenues have improved considerably as travelers are becoming more
comfortable with flying again. Defense expenditures are the leading source of revenue for the US
industry. Boeing, despite aerospace spending decreasing, has profited from projects such as the missile

The Boeing Company performs very well in terms of ratios. Boeing s earnings per share on common
stock is 2.81. Also, Boeing s price earnings ratio is 33.31 and their dividend yield is 1.4%. Boeing s

that its mean target is 99.83 and its low target is 70, while the high target is 114.
Boeing is a global company, considering it has customers in over 90 countries around the world and is
one of the largest U.S. exporters based on sales. It also has employees in 70 of the countries that it

government defense contracts. They are taking large bounds to really work with their global partners.
Instead of just outsourcing call sources or manufacturing, they are actually outsourcing engineering

Classification Essay About Chicken Salad
What goes with chicken salad? It s high time you found out!
I am yet to find a person who does not like chicken. It is chicken that most of us love to make on
special occasions or when expecting guests that we are dying to impress. Maybe it s why we have
come up with so many ways to cook it.
I, for one am a hardcore chicken fan. Nothing a good chicken wing can t fix, my mother always said.
It then comes as no surprise that I love chicken salad. So, what goes well with chicken salad? Well, it s
high time you found out.
Suitable side dishes for chicken salad

There is a particular way that grapes taste with chicken that is irresistible. In fact, many chicken salads
will include grapes. Avocado salad can also be an excellent alternative.
Strawberries and raspberries are also a good choice. One fruit salad that I thoroughly recommend is
the kale, avocado, tangerine and sesame salad. These ingredients blend so well while also providing
vitamins.
Rice
Two types of rice that are suitable for eating with chicken salad are wild rice and brown rice. You can
even go ahead and make a rice salad. You can make brown rice, apple, walnuts and cherry salad.
The cherries make the rice sweet while the nuts make it crunchy. This salad is easy to make and goes
well with anything, so that s a bonus. You should always have brown rice like this in your kitchen.
You never know when you will need to fix up a good side dish. Better safe than sorry, we were always
taught.
Bread
Bread will make a beautiful side dish for the chicken salad, and it comes in a wide variety. Garlic
bread is a popular choice. Crusty bread like French or sourdough is an excellent addition. You can also
use good old fashioned white bread and make a

A leader is someone who that has a strong voice opinion and is easy to like. that is what people want
today, but back in the byzantine empire the people did not get to choose the person they want as a
ruler. Two leaders that were not chosen but were brought up to royalty were constantine and justinian.
One famous Byzantine Emperor was Justinian . Justinian ruled from AD 527 to 565. Justinian created
a set of laws called the Justinian code. Justinian had a goal of reuniting the Roman Empire. He sent
out armies to battle the barbarians who had taken control in the West. Justinian s Roman armies were
very successful. Some of his achievements are He extended the Byzantine Empire dramatically, He

The Southern Baptist Convention
Southern Baptist The Southern Baptist Convention is the largest denomination in the world. Claiming
about 16 million followers of Christ, the convention is known for its mission work and outreach
programs designed to draw in more and more members each day. The conventions future, though, did
not always look so bright. The convention was and still does play key parts in world controversy s like
war, homosexuality, race, and women s rights. Many would even say the world looks up to the
Southern Baptists. Which makes me ask myself a question, Have the Southern Baptists play a bigger
part in culture than I realized? . In the next few paragraphs, I would like to explore the culture and
history of Southern Baptists.
With the help of a slave owner by the name of William B. Johnson, the Southern Baptist convention
was formed in 1845 when controversy from the North forbid Johnson of becoming a missionary.
Johnson was respected in both the North and South, but the North was not willing to let a slave owner
go into the mission field. Johnson explained in defense of the convention when it was forced organize,
that belief in faith was no different from the north, despite some principle differences. The true
question that centered the convention though, was Is slavery sinful, in any circumstance? . Although
now, race isn t a big controversy for Baptists, it obviously was a game changer in the early years of the
conventions establishment. The basic beliefs of racial issues vary by

The Consistency Of Meeting The Customer Needs Essay
Problem Statement
The consistency of meeting the customer needs. In the hospitality industry, the customers need is
imperative. First the customer needs to be greeted and handle with dignity and respect. This will make
the customer feel comfortable about their entry into the establishment. When a customer does not
receive a warm, sincere greeting on their pre check in it may cause a tension among the hotelier and
customer. The hotelier primary responsibility is to make the customers feel welcome and provide
optimum service from the first contact. This need to be addressed because it will have an impact on
day to day business and a reputation of the hotelier.
The Macmillan Dictionary (2010) provides two distinct but related definitions of hospitality. The first
one defines hospitality as friendly and generous behavior towards visitors and guests, intended to
make them feel welcome while the second definition looks at hospitality as food, drink, and
entertainment given to customers by a company or organization. The latter definition is apparently
more specific than the former in terms of the types of service provisions.

Pike and Hunting Snakes are unusual topics to be discussed with an approbational tone. They are
fierce and violent animals, but in the poems Pike written by Ted Hughes and Hunting Snake written by
Judith Wright, they are discussed with high regard and acclaim. Both poets observe the beauty and
allure of these animals who have killer instincts and an aggressive nature. In Hughes poem Pike he
uses paradox to highlight the pike s beauty and a sense of threat, in the introductory four stanzas. He
uses highly praising adjectives such as grandeur , gold , emerald and delicacy to portray the beauty,

Introduction
Hinduism is a religion that originated in India and is still practiced by most of the Natives as well as
the people who have migrated from
India to other parts of the world. Statistically there are over seven hundred million Hindus, mainly in
Bharat, India and Nepal. Eighty five percent of the population in India is Hindu. The word Hindu
comes from an ancient Sanskrit term meaning dwellers by the Indus River, referring to the location of
India s earliest know civilization, the Pakistan. There is not much organization and hierarchy is

In the medieval times the Hindus evolved into having philosophers, plays and music with their
religion. A man named Chaitanya came into power and claimed to have a god reincarnated inside of
him. In the
19th century, movements to reconcile traditional Hinduism with the social reforms and political ideas
of the day took place. Many people where sent out to Europe and Asia preaching and spreading the
religion. Throughout all these periods of time, the religion mutated and changed to fit with the times
and as it did it just kept gathering more and more followers.
Hinduism Today Today there are numerous self proclaimed teachers who have migrated to Europe and
the United States, where they have inspired large followings. In India Hinduism thrives despite all the
reforms and shortcuts made in the practicing due to the gradual modernization and urbanization of
Hindu life. Hinduism continues to serve vital function by giving passionate meaning to the Hindus of
today.

Caste System The ideal way of life is referred to as the duties of one s class and station . In the phrase
the word class is changed to CASTE. The ancient texts tell of four great classes, or castes: the
Brahmins, or priests; the
Ksatriyas, or warriors and rulers; the Vaisayas, or merchants and farmers; and the Sudras, or peasants
and laborers. A fifth class, Panchamas, or untouchables, are people whose jobs make them touch

Play, Recreation, And Sport In The Colonial Era
The concepts of play, leisure, recreation, and sport are often used interchangeably in conversation,
however, each concept has a different meaning, and a different role, in both individual lives and
society as a whole. After defining, comparing, and contrasting each concept, it is clear just how much
they differ from each other. Not only is it important to understand the similarities and differences of
each concept, but it s also important to know that historical factors represent a huge part of what we
know play, leisure, recreation, and sport to be today. The Colonial Era has been just one of the many
historical factors that has been influential in the development of these terms, specially in the

Often limited to children only, in today s society play can be associated with adults as well. Play
cannot be easily defined, but could be described by activity or behavior desired by an individual for
pleasure (Henderson, 2010, p. 32). Often seen in leisure activity, it also has the ability to allow
someone to express themselves in a passionate, energetic, imaginary way, whether the play is done in
a systematic or an unsystematic manner, with no tangible goal or reward expected (Henderson, 2010,
p. 9 p. 33). Play differs from leisure, recreation, and sport significantly in the fact that play refers to
behavior rather than the activity itself (Henderson, 2010, p. 45); however, it could be seen by some as
an essential part of life that enables an individual to deal with internal conflict, socialize with others,
and grants them the ability to function properly in our everyday life. Leisure is vital to an individual s
quality of life (Henderson, 2010, p.

Compare and Contrast Mitosis and Meiosis Essay
Compare and Contrast Mitosis and Meiosis
Meiosis and mitosis describes the process by which cells divide, either by asexual or sexual
reproduction to produce a new organism.
Meiosis is a form of cell division that produces gametes in humans these are egg cells and sperms,
each with reduced or halved number of chromosomes. The number of chromosomes is restored when
two gametes fuse together to form a zygote. A cell with two copies of each chromosome is called
diploid cell and a cell with one copy of each chromosome is called a haploid cell. Meioses produces
haploid daughter cells that are genetically different from each other and from the parent cell. However,

These bivalents line up along the equator during metaphase I, the arrangement of the bivalent is
completely random and relative to the orientation of the other bivalents, this is known as the
independent assortment of chromosomes. This is followed by anaphase I where the homologous
chromosomes separate and move to the opposite poles of the cell.
At telophase I the cell divides into two, each cell contains one chromosome from each homologous
pair. The second stage of meiosis is similar to mitosis. These centrioles replicate and the chromosomes
line along the equator at metaphase II and spilt at the centromeres causing the chromatids to move to
opposite sides at anaphase II. At telophase II the cell divides to form four haploid cells, these are not
identical to each other because the cells contains chromosomes from two different parent gametes
therefore differ genetically.
However, during mitotic division the cells produced are genetically identical to each other because
they are produced from the same parent cell. The cell begins to replicate during interphase to produce
two identical sister chromatids. At prophase the chromosomes become condense to become visible
and the membrane begins to break down. The chromosomes line up along the centre of the equator
during metaphase.
The chromatids separate and are pulled to opposite poles during anaphase. In telophase these separate
chromatids

Castles In Japan Research Paper
Castles in Japan were built for two main purposes. First, it was built as a defensive platform. Daimyo
(feudal lords) all over the country built these strongholds so they could retreat during an attack. Both
the castle itself and the grounds surrounding it are fortified with numerous defenses. The main keep of
the castle also stored food and weapons in case of prolonged battles.
A castle was constructed to display the daimyo s wealth and power as well. Of course, the grander the
castle, the stronger and wealthier the daimyo.

Although they were built to endure and used more stone in their construction than most Japanese

Adoration Of The Magi And Bruegi Analysis
The two paintings Adoration of the Magi, by Botticelli, and Peasant wedding, by Pieter Bruegel the
Elder are both Renaissance art works made in the 14th and 15th centuries. Botticelli completed the
Adoration of the Magi during the Italian Renaissance. The piece was commissioned by Cosimo de
Medici and encaptures the Medici family witnessing the birth of Jesus Christ. Likewise, Pieter
Bruegel the Elder completed the painting Pheasant Wedding in 1567, which is a depiction of the local
pheasant s daily lifestyle and the simple pleasures it had to offer. Although at first the two pieces of
artwork may appear to be similar in style, they contain several subtle differences because of the era
they came from. For example, Botticelli ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With their family and friends blissfully dining, the peasants depicted in Peasant Wedding manifest the
simple Lutheran religion that was being innovated at the time. The two paintings contrast in this way
because of the indistinct and undeniable religious backgrounds the paintings have.
Although there are many singularities in between the Northern and Southern Renaissance styles there
are distinct similarities in the two artistic communities. One similarity is the the belief in Humanism
that is represented in both the Adoration of the Magi and Peasant Wedding. Humanism is the belief
that stresses the potential value and goodness of human beings and was innovated in both the Italian
and Northern Renaissance. This belief can be seen in the painting Peasant Wedding by the way that
Bruegel the Elder illustrates the congregation of people that had attended the wedding. Likewise, in
The Adoration of the Magi, Botticelli communicates his belief in Humanism by the way he precisely
draws each person in the painting. The two paintings portray the Humanist beliefs through the precise
details in which they paint each person and indicates that they have faith and trust in the human race.
In southern Renaissance artwork, the subject matter was usually centered and results in drawing the
eyes attention to a certain focal point. Conversely, in northern renaissance art, the placement of the

Responsibilities for Offering of Securities Essay
The federal law requires disclosure of material information in order to ensure the quality and fairness
of an offering. I believe this responsibility should be shared responsibility between all parties
including the investment bankers, the securities lawyers, and most importantly the managers and the
directors of the issuing company have the duty to ensure the quality and fairness of an offering.
Investment banker s have the duty to advise their clients on high level issues of financial organization.
They manage the issuance of bonds, recommend and execute strategies for taking over and merging

According to the information on the SEC website, all investors, whether large institutions or private
individuals, should have access to certain basic facts about an investment prior to buying it, and so
long as they hold it. The SEC requires public companies to disclose meaningful financial and other
information to the public. This provides a common pool of knowledge for all investors to use to judge
for themselves whether to buy, sell, or hold a particular security. Only through the steady flow of
timely, comprehensive, and accurate information can people make sound investment decisions.
According to The Securities Act of 1933, the law requires full disclosure of information relevant to the
securities been offered to the public. The Securities Act of 1933 provides that the investors must be
provided with the registration statement and the prospectus that describes the security being offered,
the issuing corporation, and the investment or risks related to the security to promote sufficient info to
enable sophisticated investors to evaluate the financial risk involved. It is through such disclosure and
openness on the part of the directors of the issuing company that there can be an existence of quality
and fairness of the offering to the investors. I believe that appointing an independent agency to
oversee such offerings will be a further leap in the attempt to

Effects of Air Pollution in Delhi
Introduction
Air is the ocean we breathe. Air supplies us with oxygen which is essential for our bodies to live. Air
is 99.9% nitrogen, oxygen, water vapor and inert gases. Human activities can release substances into
the air, some of which can cause problems for humans, plants, and animals.
There are several main types of pollution and well known effects of pollution which are commonly
discussed. These include smog, acid rain, the greenhouse effect, and holes in the ozone layer. Each of
these problems has serious implications for our health and well being as well as for the whole
environment.
One type of air pollution is the release of particles into the air from burning fuel for energy. Diesel

Disruptive behavior
The Ontario College of Physicians and surgeons defined the disruptive behavior as inappropriate
conduct, whether in words or action, that interferes with, or has the potential to interfere with, quality
health care delivery. Disruptive doctors, nurses and most of healthcare employees are found in almost
all hospitals and clinics. Although most observers noticed that only 6% of physicians fall into this
category, the influence of this small percent far outweighs their percentage. Examples of disruptive

The factors are either endogenous related to the individual or exogenous related to the work
environment. Certain personalities are associated with disrespectful behavior. Self esteem is extremely
important to doctors as it is very related to doctors` perception of their own reputation and
competence. The reason for this is doctors usually spend a huge amount of time and energy to achieve
a great success and reputation so they become more sensitive to anything that may endanger their self
esteem or success. Doctors might react with aggressive personal behavior, if anyone directly or
indirectly tries to touch their self esteem, as a way to confirm their professional dominance. They
could feel insecurity and anxiety especially if they felt that they are prone to challenges of practicing
medicine. Doctors or any healthcare professionals who do not feel confident about their skills may
reflect this anxiety to the coworkers around him in terms of blaming others or making hypercritical
comments. In fact they might overreact blaming themselves for real or unreal inadequacy,
hypercriticize themselves or others. The huge amount of energy and time doctors spend to succeed
professionally make physicians self involved and become vulnerable to narcissistic character traits. In
fact medical narcissism is term used to reflect feeling of being superior and perfectionism are usually

Television And Radio Ratings Data
Television and radio ratings data are used primarily to assist decision making with regard to
advertising, programming, financial analysis, and policy making, all of which have significant
economic or social implications. It is important to realise that audience measurement is a business; the
firms involved are intent on using their analysis to make money. This essay will discuss why ratings
are used, what ratings actually measure, specific to radio audience ratings, and the extent to which this
information provides a satisfactory understanding of broadcast audiences. It will be seen that ratings
do not usually generate any deep understanding of why people are listening to particular programmes,
but do capture audience size and make up reasonably well. It is the responsibility of broadcasters to
understand their audience in order to effectively grow it. Radio and television ratings measure various
aspects of the broadcast audience, from how many people are in an audience, their demographic make
up and sometimes their preferences, with the objective of gaining understandings which will help the
broadcaster to grow audience participation and loyalty. The reality is, though, that little true
understanding of audience preferences is gained. The understandings which are gained are often
superficial, but sufficient to support business decision making, particularly around advertising. As will
be seen, the extent to which ratings generate understanding of audience is all

The Domestic Policies of Diefenbaker and Pearson
Essay Plan Compare and contrast the successes and failures of the domestic policies of Diefenbaker
and Pearson
John George Diefenbaker and Lester Bowles Pearson both acted as Prime Minister of Canada during
the Cold War. The two were from different Canadian political parties that accorded to their beliefs and
principles, Diefenbaker being a Progressive Conservative party member and Pearson a Liberal.
Diefenbaker was leaning left as a Conservative, similarly to Eisenhower, who was presiding at the
time, and thus shared a fair relationship with him, though the same could not be said for the US in
general; Pearson s administration presided also along a Democratic administration in the US, though
they clashed often due to the American actions in the Vietnam War. Diefenbaker was elected to office
as his party held the greatest proportion in the Parliament, however, he won only with a minority.
During his administration, Diefenbaker implemented policies that were considered liberal, most of
which he was able to pass, in contrast to Pearson, who only succeeded in passing near half of his due
to the majority he lacked most times in the House of Commons. Both Diefenbaker and Pearson had
political experience before they became PMs, they also share a similarity in that they attempted to
solidify Canada as a nation and to remove the hyphenation in Canadian citizenship; both achieving
success in varying extents. However, Diefenbaker shared differing views on Canadian dependence and

Comparative Analysis Of The Attention Getter And The...
Comparative Analysis of The Attention Getter and The Denouement: In the movie The Incredibles, the
director Brad Bird had the beginning of the film start with interviews of the heroes to subvert viewer
expectations and have the audience focus on the people behind the masks. After interview scene, an
action police chase takes place so that the audience would be on the edge of their seats interested to
watch the film. The attention getter draws the audience in as they can easily understand the heroes
personalities before the action takes place. The police chase is fast paced and there are lots of fast
camera movements occurring. As well, in the attention getter Mr. Incredible is trying to multitask and
time is ticking which leaves the audience with curiosity to see what will happen. It s easy to observe
that Mr. Incredible works alone and seems extremely excited to fight crime as every time he gets a
crime in progress notification he looks at his watch and states, I ve got time. And speeds to the next
crime scene. When the denouement is occurring Dash and Violet have both received what they
wanted, Dash got to do track and show off a small portion of his running and Violet is now confident
in herself and not timid. This allows the viewers to witness the transformation the two kids have gone
through. The next scene we see is an action shot of a new villain emerging from the ground causing
conflict and right away the whole family has their masks on and are ready to fight.

Explain How Software Utilities Improve The Performance Of...
D1: explain how software utilities can improve the performance of computer systems
There are many software utilities that can be used to improve a computer system. Below is a list of
them.
Virus Protection
This utility helps to improve the performance of a computer system by maintaining a safe environment
for the user to use and keep out viruses that slow down a system performance and its effectiveness on
devices; it does this by preventing malware from entering a system and ultimately removing the virus
from the system if required. If the system has no viruses it will run effectively. This is because without
the virus protection, the viruses would be activate and could start slowing down the computer. Virus
protection will help slowdown this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This helps to improve system performance as it will clear up more space for the computer and make it
quicker and effective.
Drive Formatting
This utility prepares storage media for use by creating barriers from other files and readying it for file
storage, this benefits the system by allowing it to have a fully functioning storage media device that is
ready to use. This is an improvement to current systems by ensuring storage media is ready to use and
makes the computer more effective and efficient as you can access files instantly.
Backup Tools
This utility duplicates any files and stores them in an alternate location such as a separate hard drive to
the one were the original files are, this is done so that if the computer fails, then there is a copy of that
file in a separate location so that it can be obtained and sent back into the system, this will stop files
from truly being lost. This improves the performance of a system as it allows the users to resume as
quickly as possible in the event of a systems failure. Also it will help stop the computer from faulting
as the computer will have back up files to recover. So hence this will improve the performance of a
computer as the computer can resume its functions

Review of Maybe Tomorrow
The book Maybe Tomorrow tells the story of Boori Monty Pryor. It describes the career path and life
story of an Aboriginal in Australia. From being a model to eventually becoming a writer or like it is
called in the aboriginal cultural, a storyteller. The book is not a typical biography, because it has been
written as a one way conversation between Boori and the reader. Personally I find this somewhat
confusing; jumping from one topic to the other does not feel comfortable to read. What it definitely
does deliver on is giving a better understanding about the aboriginal culture, the difficulties they face
from white Australians in this country and how every person in this culture needs to adapt to the way
of the white men . There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What was also very interesting is the shame indigenous people have against their own culture.
Especially the children, which Boori describes he saw when preforming in classrooms all over
Australia. Children that think they are not really an Aboriginal because they do not life in the outback,
do not play the traditional instruments and do not look like the stereotypical aboriginal. Therefore they
are more white which means that they are normal. This is very similar to black people outside
Australia, the mind set exist that looking white and acting white is considered better. This creates a
negative stereotypical version of aboriginals, which goes together with ignorance. For example how
Boori describes the reactions of the children in the classrooms he had visited. One chid expressed that
after the performance of Boori, he was not afraid anymore of aboriginals. Or other child asking him
when he started becoming an aboriginal, I thought this was interesting because it shows how this
child, like some children of aboriginal descent, see only one stereotypical abstract of an indigenous
person. They only have this figure in their mind, which is that aboriginals are not civilised or
educated. A person that is always half naked and plays traditional aboriginal instruments. That is why
some children of aboriginal descent try to remove themselves from everything that is linked to the
Aboriginal culture, because if you do not act like an

In A Glaringly White Room, I Sat With My Colleagues For
In a glaringly white room, I sat with my colleagues for three weeks. In this room with little décor, we
sat with our weary but bright eyes as we discussed, argued, and made claims about ourselves and the
way we viewed the world. I insisted, pompously, on views that I claimed were the truth; which I now I
have changed. Towards the end of the three weeks, I came to the realization that I was standing on a
foundation made of water. Fortunately, I came to this realization before I drowned. In week two, we
talked about our ethics. Our ethics create our visions, our paths, and our inertia. Our ethics also plays a
heavy part into how outsiders will view us (UN Ethics Office, 2012). Since DPMI, I have reviewed

is dead for the future. To understand how I should proceed with my desired vision for the future, I
have to reflect on my previous failures and successes (CARE). I have been traveling alone since
DPMI. Which is something I have not been able to do that much in my 25 years. Being able to travel
alone and talking to new people from around the world, has allowed to me observe and reflect on the
path I have taken. I travelled up and down California and flew to New Zealand. In New Zealand I
worked at an all vegan animal sanctuary in the bush north of Auckland. While I did take a year off to
do AmeriCorps after receiving my BA in anthropology, this was the first time I have ever taken a real
break from paid work and school. And with this came a lot of clarity. Maybe it is society or how I was
raised, but I am quite envious of successful women. Successful women inspire me and make me push
myself. However, envy is a double edge sword; it makes you push yourself till mental exhaustion or
makes you feel like the world is against you. I want women to succeed; rising tide lifts all boats. When

Misogyny Reoccurs In Candide
Voltaire, the pen name of François Marie Arouet, was very creative in his way of outing the pure
ridiculousness of the ideas and morals of 18th century Europeans. In the mid 1700 s, Voltaire penned
the adventures of Candide s quest to find his love, and how his innocence is corrupted along the way.
Candide possesses many main ideas, including misogyny, the exploitation of women, the unholy acts
that holy men perform, and the fatal flaws of optimism, which leads me to believe that 18th century
Europe was doomed to a fate of death, terror, and violence.
The theme of misogyny reoccurs throughout the entire story of Candide and scenes of violence and
the rape of women imply that these were common occurrences at this time. As Candide deserts ...

becomes a friend of Candide s and tells him that she is the daughter of Pope Urban the Tenth and the

ironically breaks this promise by stealing the gold and jewels from Cunegonde. This man who
promised to live in poverty sins when he falls into the trap of thinking money equals happiness and

be full of hypocrisy as many religious authorities in Candide go against what they claim to believe

Is Guatemala A Developing Country
A developing country is an impoverished country that is seeking to become more advanced
economically and socially. Guatemala is very much so in the position of a developing country. As one
who lives in the United States of America, it is often times hard to understand what this exactly
means. The majority of people born and raised in America will never experience the same situations
that those from a developing country will experience. The cultural lifestyle of Guatemalans is much
different than Americans because of the experiences they observe or participate in each day. Although
Guatemala has not been successful in the aspects of society or economics, they are in the process of
ameliorating. Guatemala is a particularly large country in South America. The country s terrain is
dominated by mountains with narrow coastal plains, limestone plateaus, and volcanoes and jungles.
The current population of Guatemala is 17,033,253 as of November 2017, according to the latest
United Nations estimates (Guatemala Population (LIVE), 2017). The capital of the country is
Guatemala City. For the past years, the politicians have been extremely corrupt. In 2016, Jimmy
Morales had won the Guatemalan election to become the new president. His campaign slogan was
neither corrupt not a thief . Because the people of Guatemala were beyond ready for a change in
leadership, he won by a landslide. At the start of his term, people loved him and he seemed to be a

  • 2. The Armed Forces I am against the inclusion of women in the armed forces based on the utilitarian concepts of the happiness of society as a whole, and the effectiveness of the armed services. I also draw conclusions from the Aristotelian principles of justice and women s ability to be worthy of being soldiers Since the repeal of Don t Ask, Don t Tell in 2011, there has been a quiet uproar over the idea of female combat forces in our military. There are strong arguments from either side of the aisle; The maintaining of historical values in the military, or the modernization of our armed forces. Most are political or social arguments, pathos rhetoric in a logos dispute. Taking a philosophical perspective on the case of women in the military would entail looking at the problem from two sides: the effect it would have on society and the effect it has on the Armed Forces. To argue it from either side will require the ascertaining of concepts based on great thinkers such Bentham, Nozick, and Aristotle. The defense of women in the military comes from the libertarian perspective that people have a natural right to take part in any activity that they want to and have the ability to. Arguments for being able to enlist in the active combat services of the military could be drawn parallel to the arguments against the draft and forced enlistment. The draft forced members of the American public to participate in a war they often did not believe in. This was a breach of the American people s rights to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of What More Can I Say From The 1991 Musical... What More Can I Say from the 1991 musical Falsettos is a song which expresses one man s love for his partner in a heartfelt way. The song is written from the point of view of Marvin, a father who has rediscovered love for his boyfriend, Whizzer. Throughout the song, the authors, James Lapine and William Finn, use common metaphors about love to display Marvin s emotions and confusion. In stanza one, for example, lines four and five, Marvin states ...but when he sparkles, the earth begins to sway... which is a metaphor for the fact that he finds himself lost in Whizzer and his affection for him. The lyrics of the song make it easy to identify the its tone, which is affectionate and caring. In stanza two, lines three and four, comes the line ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Victor Frankenstein As A Monster Mary Shelley describes how the behaviors of the characters in the story led to their downfall. In Frankenstein, the main character, Victor Frankenstein is very irresponsible and naïve. His creation, the monster is hideous and hopeless. When Victor was a young child, science was his favorite subject because he was fascinated with experiments. He enjoyed and continued reading outdated books by Agrippa to expand his knowledge in science, even though his father discouraged him to do so. Victor was determined to fulfill his desires because he wanted to create his own innovation that would benefit society. After Victor had become a student at the University of Ingolstadt, he locked himself in the laboratory and worked hard to prove his theory on creating human life. When his creation was nothing like Victor imagined, the start of his self destruction begins. While both humans and machines rely heavily on information to acquire knowledge, machines are more sensible under any circumstances. Victor Frankenstein is introduced as an ambitious young man who aspires to be a scientist that finds answers to all his questions. According to Shelley (2003), I opened it with apathy; the theory which he attempts to demonstrate, and the wonderful facts which he relates, soon changed this feeling into enthusiasm (34). When Victor discovered the works of Cornelius Agrippa, he suddenly found life meaningful because natural philosophy caught his attention. Regardless of what people say, Victor ... • 5. Operation Red Wings As A Multi Phase Joint Military Operation Operation Red Wings was an operation that took place on June 27th, 2005 in northeastern Afghanistan s Kunar province. The Afghan Parliamentary elections were scheduled for September of 2005, and Red Wings was supposed to disrupt insurgent activity in the area. The operation, had it gone as planned, would have helped bring stability to the region and facilitated successful elections later that year. Red Wings was supposed to be a multi phase joint military operation. It was planned by the Marines to be executed by SOF and Marines jointly. Due to bad planning, decision making and resource management, the operation was a failure and never made it past the first phase. They continued to try and get communications with their higher headquarters. That afternoon when they were observing, the team heard footsteps and when they realized an unsuspecting group of goat and sheep herders had walked up on their position, they took action. They immediately surrounded the three Afghans. The team realized they had been compromised and discussed their options. They worried that if they let the men go, they would alert Shah and his men of their location. They could not kill unarmed civilians because ROE prohibited it. It is debated how the decision was made via vote or other means, but ultimately the team ended up letting the men leave to walk back down the mountainside. Because they had been spotted, the team immediately grabbed their gear and relocated to a previous location that they had found unsuitable for observing the village. It had been several hours since the release of the three men. They assumed the sheep herders did not give away their position until they began to hear footsteps to the rear and flank of their position. The team estimated a group of approximately 80 men at first. Shah had positioned his men above the SEALS and to the flank taking advantage of the team s poor location on the side of Sawtalo Sar. His men also had reliable communications and the SEAL team had still been unable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The largest aerospace company, Boeing is the #2 maker of large commercial jets (behind rival Airbus) and the #2 defense contractor behind Lockheed Martin. The aerospace and defense industry did suffer the effects of a post 9/11 society. Because of the weakened and fearful tourism market, spending on commercial aircraft did decrease. But recently, revenues have improved considerably as travelers are becoming more comfortable with flying again. Defense expenditures are the leading source of revenue for the US industry. Boeing s stock is currently selling at 93.67. Boeing looks to be a pretty steady stock, as analysts are predicting that its mean target is 99.83 and its low target is 70, while the high target is 114. Boeing is a global company, considering it has customers in over 90 countries around the world and is one of the largest U.S. exporters based on sales. It also has employees in 70 of the countries that it deals with. Boeing is in a bit of a tough spot with outsourcing considering that they deal with government defense contracts. They are taking large bounds to really work with their global partners. Instead of just outsourcing call sources or manufacturing, they are actually outsourcing engineering and design positions as well. One of Boeing s executives really summed up their goal quite well with this quote, One of the things we have found [is that] it s best to have the people building the parts designing the parts, says Michael Bair, Boeing s vice president in charge of the 787 program. Claiming about 16 million followers of Christ, the convention is known for its mission work and outreach programs designed to draw in more and more members each day. The conventions future, though, did not always look so bright. The convention was and still does play key parts in world controversy s like war, homosexuality, race, and women s rights. Many would even say the world looks up to the Southern Baptists. Which makes me ask myself a question, Have the Southern Baptists play a bigger part in culture than I realized? . In the next few paragraphs, I would like to explore the culture and history of Southern Baptists. With the help of a slave owner by the name of William B. Johnson, the Southern Baptist convention was formed in 1845 when controversy from the North forbid Johnson of becoming a missionary. Johnson was respected in both the North and South, but the North was not willing to let a slave owner go into the mission field. Johnson explained in defense of the convention when it was forced organize, that belief in faith was no different from the north, despite some principle differences. The true question that centered the convention though, was Is slavery sinful, in any circumstance? . Although now, race isn t a big controversy for Baptists, it obviously was a game changer in the early years of the conventions establishment. The basic beliefs of racial issues vary by ... • 11. The Consistency Of Meeting The Customer Needs Essay Problem Statement The consistency of meeting the customer needs. In the hospitality industry, the customers need is imperative. First the customer needs to be greeted and handle with dignity and respect. This will make the customer feel comfortable about their entry into the establishment. When a customer does not receive a warm, sincere greeting on their pre check in it may cause a tension among the hotelier and customer. The hotelier primary responsibility is to make the customers feel welcome and provide optimum service from the first contact. This need to be addressed because it will have an impact on day to day business and a reputation of the hotelier. The Macmillan Dictionary (2010) provides two distinct but related definitions of hospitality. The first one defines hospitality as friendly and generous behavior towards visitors and guests, intended to make them feel welcome while the second definition looks at hospitality as food, drink, and entertainment given to customers by a company or organization. The latter definition is apparently more specific than the former in terms of the types of service provisions. Play cannot be easily defined, but could be described by activity or behavior desired by an individual for pleasure (Henderson, 2010, p. 32). Often seen in leisure activity, it also has the ability to allow someone to express themselves in a passionate, energetic, imaginary way, whether the play is done in a systematic or an unsystematic manner, with no tangible goal or reward expected (Henderson, 2010, p. 9 p. 33). Play differs from leisure, recreation, and sport significantly in the fact that play refers to behavior rather than the activity itself (Henderson, 2010, p. 45); however, it could be seen by some as an essential part of life that enables an individual to deal with internal conflict, socialize with others, and grants them the ability to function properly in our everyday life. • 17. Compare and Contrast Mitosis and Meiosis Essay Compare and Contrast Mitosis and Meiosis Meiosis and mitosis describes the process by which cells divide, either by asexual or sexual reproduction to produce a new organism. Meiosis is a form of cell division that produces gametes in humans these are egg cells and sperms, each with reduced or halved number of chromosomes. The number of chromosomes is restored when two gametes fuse together to form a zygote. A cell with two copies of each chromosome is called diploid cell and a cell with one copy of each chromosome is called a haploid cell. Meioses produces haploid daughter cells that are genetically different from each other and from the parent cell. However, mitosis is a form of cell division that produces daughter cells ... These bivalents line up along the equator during metaphase I, the arrangement of the bivalent is completely random and relative to the orientation of the other bivalents, this is known as the independent assortment of chromosomes. This is followed by anaphase I where the homologous chromosomes separate and move to the opposite poles of the cell. At telophase I the cell divides into two, each cell contains one chromosome from each homologous pair. The second stage of meiosis is similar to mitosis. These centrioles replicate and the chromosomes line along the equator at metaphase II and spilt at the centromeres causing the chromatids to move to opposite sides at anaphase II. At telophase II the cell divides to form four haploid cells, these are not identical to each other because the cells contains chromosomes from two different parent gametes therefore differ genetically. However, during mitotic division the cells produced are genetically identical to each other because they are produced from the same parent cell. The cell begins to replicate during interphase to produce two identical sister chromatids. At prophase the chromosomes become condense to become visible and the membrane begins to break down. The chromosomes line up along the centre of the equator during metaphase. The chromatids separate and are pulled to opposite poles during anaphase. In telophase these separate chromatids ... Daimyo (feudal lords) all over the country built these strongholds so they could retreat during an attack. Both the castle itself and the grounds surrounding it are fortified with numerous defenses. The main keep of the castle also stored food and weapons in case of prolonged battles. A castle was constructed to display the daimyo s wealth and power as well. Of course, the grander the castle, the stronger and wealthier the daimyo. Japan s history is intimately intertwined with the history of castles. (19) Popes must solemnly promise to be celibate and Pope Urban breaks his promise by having a child. The fact that the highest figure of authority in the Catholic faith sinned by corrupts his vow of chastity conveys the message that nobody can be completely pure and honest. At the inn where Candide, Cunegonde, and the old woman stay while escaping punishment for killing the Grand Inquisitor and a Jew, all of Cunegonde s riches are stolen by the reverend Franciscan friar (17) who stayed at the inn with them. Guatemala is very much so in the position of a developing country. As one who lives in the United States of America, it is often times hard to understand what this exactly means. The majority of people born and raised in America will never experience the same situations that those from a developing country will experience. The cultural lifestyle of Guatemalans is much different than Americans because of the experiences they observe or participate in each day. • 38. Tale of Multak- A Tragic Odyssey Essay Ben Multak Unperson stands out unmistakably from the rest of the pedantic language denouncing my existence. Even the old coffee maker hissed and snarled as it served another cup of cappuccino . At that moment, a sense of despair washed over me as I realized that the whole world was against me. As a matter of fact, the world is against me, I was to be executed soon, not only will I not exist physically; I would cease to exist in memories, and history as well. Scarier still, ... A well respected identity that people don t ask too many questions about. With the telescreen buzzing incessantly in the background, I am reminded of an identity that is present in the lives of all Oceanian citizens, a reporter.
