The Theory Of Science And Architecture
Architecture can be related to anything such as society or science, society demands the building of
their dream and science made building possible. Science and architect share a mutual goal where both
intended to improve the society life style or in another word, to achieve community utopia. Science
and architect is one of the main elements to promote utopia and this really make the society to believe
that utopia exist. The future will be the combination of science and spirituality, and they should be
together forever. In fact, only when we successfully continue to improve our level of consciousness
and match the level of science and technology, human beings have a future. The future of humanity is
very unpredictable, science may change the world as they see fits such as no disease, no hunger or no
pain. Science can explain many problems, from the taste of the food to love, because love is the
product of science! Nowadays for the environment, sea level rises every year and many countries
started land reclamation to fix the problem such as Japan or Netherland. To face these problems, the
architect has made a lot of conceptual idea to accommodate future human life. Since then, conceptual
floating foundation design has been under development to adapt the environmental issue. It uses the
principle of buoyancy to support the design and the principle itself is discovered by the scientist,
which architect adapted this principle to the design.

Ovid And Tibullus
How and Whom Do We Love?
Roman poets Ovid, Catullus, Propertius, and Tibullus, all define love in a similar way. All four poets
describe love as being unrequited and sexual, with Ovid, Catullus and Tibullus being more erotic.
Though they all are in love with their mistresses, they describe verbal and physical signs of abuse
within the same timeframe of describing their passions. How can the two be connected when so vastly
apart? Ovid writes about the same type of puella as Catullus, Propertius, and Tibullus. Ovid, Catullus,
and Propertius make us question if the puella they describe is their mistress or just a fantasy. What
makes them a real person? What keeps them a fantasy?

As Catullus talks about Lesbia s beloved pet dying, we are led to believe that Lesbia is his girlfriend.
He speaks in great detail about her relationship with her pet sparrow. Surely Lesbia is as least his
girlfriend, if not his wife. We soon learn that Catullus is making a fool of himself. Though at some
point is appears that Lesbia returned his love, it is clear now that she does not as she tells him no. He
is left to prepare himself to be rigid against Lesbia. Propertius heart burns for Cynthia. He leads us to
believe that she returned his love at some time in which he was amongst those who are happy in love.
Cynthia then makes it clear in a formal letter that she does not share his feelings of love.
Each poet, Ovid, Catullus, Propertius, and Tibullus, has a puella that they are in love, or lust with.
Their puellas share similarities with each other. Some of them more than others. The similarity that
they all share is that each puella is described as a mistress. Or are they a fantasy? One cannot help but
envision the beauty these women bestow. Ovid talks of Corinna s hair tumbling down on each side of
her neck. He also goes into detail to describe her perfect body to us. Propertius also talks about
Cynthia s hair when he discusses forming curls with her loose hair. Is the visualization of hair enough
to make these women

The Dangers Of Social Pressure
The Dangers of Relenting to Social Pressure
From early childhood to adulthood, the urge to submit to social pressure is a reality that shapes
everyone on a daily basis. The desire to meet societal expectations is a factor that greatly impacts
decision making from fashion sense, to choosing friends, and to making the right choices in the work
force. Many times, this desire for acceptance repudiates one s beliefs and innate senses. In Opinions
and Social Pressure by Solomon Asch, and Perils of Obedience by Stanley Milgram, the two
psychologists conduct a series of experiments to observe how the influence of social pressure leads to
conformity and obedience to authority. Both experiments demonstrate the adverse effects of social
pressure, for conformity involves a sacrifice of self interests, while blind obedience to authority results
in the harm of others. According to the results of the experiments, social pressure is a force that can
cause people to act outside of their personal convictions and moral conscience.
In Asch s experiment, he gathers a group of seven to nine male college students, to participate in a
psychological experiment in visual judgment experiment in order to observe the time it would take for
a subject to yield to social pressure (Asch 9). The group is told match the length of a line in
comparison to three other lines of differing lengths. Unbeknownst to the subject, the other members of
the group were instructed by the experimenter to beforehand

The Endocrine System And The Nervous System
The endocrine system and the nervous system are essential organ systems in the human body. Both of
the systems have a critical role of transmitting information as well as promoting regulated functions in
the body. The endocrine system is responsible for secreting hormones to regulate the body s organs
and cells. The nervous system is accountable for sending signals to other cells in the body to allow the
body to react such as making the muscles move (eNotes, 18 September 2012). An example of the
endocrine system would be the process of growth and development. An example of the nervous
system would be if one was to touch a hot stove, they would pull back their hand and the nerves in the
body would send pain signals to the brain. This essay will discuss the similarities and differences of
the endocrine system and the nervous system for healthcare providers. ... Show more content on

The nervous system is made of two systems which consist of the central nervous system and the
peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system is composed of the brain, spinal cord, and the
nerves in the body. The peripheral nervous system is composed of nerves and a bundle of nerve cells
called ganglia, which is located on the outside of the spinal cord and the brain. The nervous system is
responsible for controlling and communicating with other parts in the body to maintain blood

Investigating The Changing Patterns Of Political And...
Introduction The Ezra Siyadhuba Archaeological Research Project proposes to investigate the
changing patterns of political and social organization in Southern Africa during the 19th century. The
project focuses on how social and economic practices were transformed by the way the political
system of the state worked on the people. The study will answer the questions asked about whether the
Ndebele people who migrated continued with their political and social status that they had before in
Kwazulu Natal. Data will be collected by archaeological survey and test excavations over a series of
three field seasons between July 2015 and September 2015.The data collected and survey conducted
will be used to test the social and economic changes from these two sites and compare whether they
are parallel. The artifacts collected will be put in the museum so that people who wants to learn about
these changes will have access to the artifacts. This project will answer all the questions posed by the
archeologists and will also help in teaching students interested in African cultures. Project Description.
This research tend to investigate, apply and evaluate how social and economic systems were enforced
amongst the Ndebele States. Currently there are a lot of arguments amongst the Archaeologists about
the economic and social system held in the Ndebele state. This research

Lawn Mowing Persuasive Speech
CUT YOUR GRASS, NOT YOURSELF: TIPS FOR SAFE MOWING
Mowing can be easy and fun; however it is alarming to know that hundreds or even thousands of
people get injured everywhere during the process. Not everyone realizes the importance of taking
proper caution for lawn mowing safety. Take note of the following tips to make sure that mowing is an
injury free process for yourself and other people.
1. Have the appropriate mowing equipment
A lawn mower is intended for frequent and long term usage; therefore you should invest in a good one
and maintain it well. Browsing online or reading magazines for detailed information of the suitable
lawn mowers for you. Read push lawn mower reviews carefully to choose the one with best

Leaving the mower unattended and still running can cause severe consequences.
Dress properly for the workout and wear necessary protection. One caution is never going barefoot
when mowing; it is even worse them wearing sandals of sneakers. Instead, a pair of slipping resistant
and sturdy shoes is advised. Protect your hearing from high decibel noises with earplugs or earmuff.
Taking care of your hand with gloves and wear close fitting clothes. Be as neat as you can.
3. Make sure the lawn area is safe for mowing
It seems to be a very simple tip but in fact, it helps you prevent injuries from flying objects or
damages to the mowing equipment. Before you start mowing, removing debris or objects such as
stones, toys, empty bottle, glass pieces, metal sticks...Put away any tools that are not in use too. It is
also noteworthy that the grass should be dry rather than damp or wet you don t want to slip out while
mowing, right?
4. Keep children and pets at bay during the mowing process.
It is sad to know that children are frequent victim of lawn related injuries. Extra caution should be take

Pathos In The Other Face
Black holes are very huge formations in the space that have a tremendous tendency for absorbing
everything in the surrounding, and so our personalities are. We are born as void memory children who
couldn t differentiate between right and wrong. However, we were also programmed in a certain
manner that tells us what we are supposed to be, or exhibit. Socialization is a main clue which is
regarded as a programming utility for our personalities. Therefore, Salma Shalash, in The Other Face,
had a desire in shedding the light over the effect of personality programming, socialization, on
relationships, with respect to gender considerations. Shalash conducted her message by writing a short
temporary Egyptian story of a couple, being about to marry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Pathos was used explicitly by grabbing the emotions and feeling of the audience by the unexpected
spontaneous reaction of the fiancée ( Ethos, Pathos, and Logos ), showing her real mask, when she
noticed that her relationship and marriage are subjected to danger. Ethos is achieved by relying on a
divorced axial character, a friend of hers. The former dependence paves the audience mind for the fact
that marriage, at that environment, ceases being a divorce when problems, related to misperceiving
personalities, arise among couples. The author also accounted for the left brain audience who are
mainly interested in one to one events; consequently, Logos , as a persuasion mode, was used as a
transition between Shalash s knowing that her relationship with Fouad would be adversely affected
and her spontaneous reaction, based on her character, of the unexpected visit. To sum up, The Other
Face, by Salma Shallash, managed to conduct the message, triggered by the author s exigency, through
a theoretical writing model integrating both persuasion and original writing style. Salma Shallash, in
her story, assures the common Egyptian motto: Everything is with disagreement, except for marriage .
She also emphasizes that actions can be evaluated in different ways according to the one s perspective
in perceiving them. Therefore, a key to success and relax is the multi dimensional, or versatile,

Romeo And Juliet Romantic Love Essay
American author and psychotherapist, Robert A. Johnson, once said, Romantic love, being the single
greatest energy system in the Western psyche, is a tremendous power that attracts. Romantic love is
compelling and influential, however it is not the only kind of love. Love comes in many different
forms each with their own special bond between the lovers. Some of these different types of love are
friendship, unrequited love, parental love, love of family honor, and romantic love. Many of these
distinct types of love are present in William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, a play
about two young lovers from feuding families who are destined for doom. In the play, Romeo
Montague and Juliet Capulet go against their families ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, when Romeo drinks the poison to kill himself, he declares, Here s to my love [drinks] O
true apothecary./ Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die. (V. iii. 119 120). Romeo s action of
killing himself implies that he would rather die than have to live his life being separated from his lover
Juliet. Romeo s romantic love for Juliet was so influential that it drove him to kill himself, which no
other kind of love had the power or impact to do. When Juliet awoke from her faked death and found
Romeo s body, she was devastated and reacted to the death of her love the same way Romeo did, by
killing herself. For example, after discovering Romeo s dead body, Juliet comes upon Romeo s dagger
and picks it up while stating, This is thy sheath; there rust and let me die. [She stabs herself and falls.]
(V. iii. 170). Juliet s action of killing herself is prominent in the story because it establishes the
strength of love. Juliet loved Romeo enough to commit suicide, which indicates that the romantic love
Juliet had for Romeo was more significant than Juliet s will to live. Romeo and Juliet s decision to kill
themselves reveals the dominance of romantic love over other types of

Winter X Games have been held at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, and they will continue to
be held there through 2012.The Winter X Games gained media exposure due to their big name

marketing towards that certain demographic, which is why the Winter X Games marketing and

198 countries and 38,000 spectators attended the actual four day event. In 1998, the attendance

Civil Law
Civil law (common law)
Civil law is the branch of law dealing with disputes between individuals or organizations, in which
compensation may be awarded to the victim. For instance, if a car crash victim claims damages
against the driver for loss or injury sustained in an accident, this will be a civil law case.[1] Civil law
differs from criminal law, whose emphasis is more on punishment than in dispute resolution. The law
relating to civil wrongs and quasi contract is part of the civil law.[2]
Overview
In the common law, civil law is the area of laws and justice that affect the legal status of individuals.
Civil law, in this sense, is usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be contrasted with common law systems whose intellectual framework comes from judge
madedecisional law which gives precedential authority to prior court decisions on the principle that it
is unfair to treat similar facts differently on different occasions (doctrine of judicial precedent).[1][2]
Historically, civil law existed in the times of Ancient Egypt and it is the group of legal ideas and
systems ultimately derived from the Code of Justinian, but heavily overlaid by Germanic, canon law,
feudal, and local practices,[3] as well as doctrinal strains such as natural law, codification, and
legislative positivism.
Conceptually, civil law proceeds from abstractions, formulates general principles, and distinguishes
substantive rules from procedural rules.[4] It holds case law to be secondary and subordinate to
statutory law, and the court system is usuallyinquisitorial, unbound by precedent, and composed of
specially trained judicial officers with a limited authority to interpret law.Juries separate from the
judges are not used, although in some cases, benches may be sat by lay judges alongside legally
trained career judges.
Overview
The purpose of codification is to provide all citizens with an accessible and written collection of the
laws which apply to them and which judges must follow. It is the most widespread system

The Lady Tasting Te Summary
The Lady Tasting Tea: Summary of the book
The lady tasting tea takes the reader on a fascinating trip in the history of the statistical revolution. The
contributions of many brilliant minds to the field of statistics as well as their personal lives and
historical perspectives were described.
The story began in a sunny afternoon in Cambridge in the 1920s. A group of scientists was having a
tea party when a lady claimed that there was a difference in taste between the cups where tea was
poured into milk and the cups where milk was poured into tea. Sir Ronald Fisher who became a
famous statistician suggested an experiment to test the lady s hypothesis. The story then goes to the
1890s when the statistical revolution started. Karl Pearson was considered by many as the founder of
mathematical statistics. Pearson discovered the skew distributions stating that they would cover any
type of data scatter and he described these distributions by four numbers; mean, standard deviation,
kurtosis and symmetry. Later a Polish mathematician, Jerzy Neyman showed that Pearson s skew
distributions can not be used to explain all possible distributions. Sir Francis Galton who discovered
fingerprints was also interested in statistics and he founded a biometrical laboratory to measure height
and weights in families to find a mathematical formula that predict the height of children from the
heights of their parents. He described regression to the mean where heights of the children moved

Analysis Of Maple Leaf Rag
JOPLIN: MAPLE LEAF RAG
Scott Joplin was acknowledged, as king of ragtime in (1868 1917) he was a composer and pianist
whose father had been a slave. Joplin was trained in classical music. Scott Joplin s Maple Leaf Rag
was published in 1899 with a March Tempo.
You can hear strong, steady chords in left hand keeps the march beat going throughout the piece,
while the right hand plays a lively, syncopated melody against this steady beat. The sections are
repeated in the usual pattern. The melody begins higher and moves down. The section is repeated. The
opening section is played. The key is change too; there is a change in the right hand rhythmic; and left
hand leaps. Once again the section is repeated. Then it returns to the original key; strong final cadence
and the section are repeated as the music comes to end.
I feel like this piece, he wanted to wow his audience. The impressive tempo and difficulty of the piece
were his way of showing that ragtime was as legitimate as any other genre, regardless of its origins.
Maple Leaf Rag is playful, fun, and yet oddly mature. The use of the lower notes against the high
notes creates a contrast that feels like an adult borrowing childhood for a few moments. It makes me
feel young again, and the fast paced, quirky notes are a welcome break from the normal, more sober
piano recital. I like this. This is why I say to people, tunes of the old days really do show intuition and
good old fashioned wisdom on how to play tunes.

Mesopotamia vs. Egypt
Mesopotamia and Egypt were very different because of their geography and world view. Mesopotamia
was often flooded because of their bad geography, but the land around the Nile river was built well so
the Egyptians didn t have to worry about the river flooding as often. The land in Mesopotamia was
often attacked and invaded. Ultimately the geography of Egypt was significantly better than
Mesopotamia because of the benefits of the nile river created a positive world view, a strong
government and a universal religion.
Mesopotamia s land required more work than Egypt s because of their unscheduled flooding. The land
in Mesopotamia was fertile, but was very harsh due to the amount of excess water coming off the two
rivers. The people in Mesopotamia had a bad world view because they were constantly working and
fixing the land and it would get ruined again after the flooding because it was constant. The Epic of
Gilgamesh connects to the flooding of the river because his writings showed how the Mesopotamians
were under the mercy of the gods. It also described how the Mesopotamians had to keep fixing their
land after the unscheduled flooding. The people of Mesopotamia also had bad world because of the
overload of water that caused them to have a surplus of food. The Nile allowed the Egyptians to work
their crops instead of worrying about the river, unlike the people in Mesopotamia. Due to the flooding

Cliques Research Paper
The Problems with Cliques Relatively 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying ( 11
Facts about Bullying n.p.). A majority of that bullying is stemmed from cliques within schools. Also,
according to Psychcentral.com, around twenty percent of teens experience depression before they
reach adulthood ( Why Are So Many Teens Depressed n.p.). Most of this depression is derived from
social issues such as being rejected at school. Depression is rampant in schools where bullying cliques
reside. According to the Webster dictionary, a clique is defined as a small group of people with shared
interests or other features in common who spend time together and do not readily allow others to join
them (Merriam Webster s Online dictionary). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is founded on choices. People can either choose to encourage others or bring them down by
excluding them. Various internet sources estimate that an adult makes about 35,000 choices or
decisions each day. According to researchers at Cornell University, people make 226.7 decisions on
just food alone each day (Wansink and Sobal, 2007). Even though choices cannot be made for others,
positive reinforcements can persuade people to make the right choice again and again. Everyone needs
to make a conscious effort and a choice to connect with others using positive reinforcements.
Although including more group work in the classroom and using the sit with us app could help some
kids, it does not stop the problem completely. If cliques are going be abolished, then bullying can be
limited, and lives can be put back together for future generations. The only long lasting and effective
way to abolish all cliques that are constantly increasing bullying is to use positive reinforcement when
people include others in a healthy way.

‘Countries at Very Low Levels of Economic Development Face...
Countries at very low levels of economic development face such a huge challenge that they cannot
hope to address them without the assistance from the rest of the world To what extent do you agree
with this view? [40]
In this essay I shall try and explore if countries of low levels of economic development; LICs, can
only develop if they receive aid from already developed countries; HICs. I shall be weighing up both
the benefits of aid and it downfalls, as well as the possibilities presented through trade alone. Is it
easier for an LIC to develop through aid or by letting itself trade its way forward?
With two thirds of the world being made up by LICs, economic growth, the increase in output of
goods and services that a country produces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LICs fail to act upon the aid in order to develop but instead many see it as a way to keep afloat. Why
put the time, resources and effort into developing when you will always be bailed out by these HICs.
Another problem associated with aid is the idea that an LIC can receive too much of it. As free aid
such as food and clothing comes in, LICs citizens, instead of purchasing these commodities, simply
pick them up for free. This dumping of goods leads to unemployment as markets are forced to close
down due to the option of getting their produce for free instead.
With failures such as these it s clear to see why many opted instead to trade with LICs in order to
cause some sort of knock on effect. LICs are often provided with trade rather then aid due to
modernization. Essentially this consists of two key elements, the first being an increase in
international trade and the second being a process of intensive industrialization to help provide goods
for export. In effect, the developing countries were being encouraged to use the same kind of model

1. Technology Lab or Self Help Technology Law Center The University of Maryland Carey School of
law establishes a law practice technology center within the law school or within the UMB Community
Engagement Center. The purpose of the center is to provide a means to assist self represented litigants
and to provide law students with the opportunity to deliver legal services in a client centric practice.
Self represented litigants will have access to the building (during business hours), to computers in
order to access the clinical law firm s created online delivery of legal service, which contains

3. Technology practicum The clinical law program establishes a course to teach law practice
technology using the classroom and the clinic components. This program can be modeled after the
Justice Technology Practicum taught at IIT Chicago Kent College). The program is as follows: The
Justice and Technology practicum offers both clinical and classroom methods using technology to
provide legal services to moderate low income individuals. A real life justice problem is posed to each
student or student team. The students are challenged to utilize document assembly or the A2J Author®
software to solve the justice problem. In class, the students explore how technologies are changing the
practice of law. List of readings assist students as they begin their research to define the scope of their
projects. The research should address the ethical issues of using the new technology. As student create
a new technology to deliver legal services, they are encouraged to write plain language for the public,
which is becoming an admirable trait for lawyers as providing legal services moves towards more self
represented litigants (S M, p. 712). In the clinical portion, students are required to spend several weeks
observing the legal processes that are at the core of the justice problem that they are assigned to solve
(p. 712). Secondly, student spend a minimum of twenty hours during first five weeks of the semester

Loyalty Program Trends Within Retail
Loyalty Program Trends in Retail A loyalty program is a reward based program that is offered by a
company to their customers who make purchases frequently. Loyalty programs have been known to
gain customers more coupons, exclusive access to certain sales, free promotions, and much more.
Many different organizations and stores have created different types of loyalty programs for their
customers over the years. These programs are important to prospective customers in gaining their
loyalty so that they may shop at their store as opposed to another local competitor. Having various
stores with these programs is also beneficial to the customer because stores are constantly competing
against each other. Stores over the years, especially during holiday seasons, are always trying to outdo
their competitors to get you the lowest price possible and them the most sales. Many stores have now
introduced price match where you can bring in a local competitor s ad and they will honor the same
price in their store. This is a great way to bring in customers because the price is no problem if it is
easily adjusted. Stores that you go to every day such as Target, Walmart, Kmart, BestBuy and Toys R
Us all offer price match all year round. Typically with most of these stores, there is a 14 day policy
that you have to bring in another competitor s ad to get that price adjusted to the lowest price. This

Similarities Between Freedom Writers And The Great Debaters
The films Freedom Writers and The Great Debaters tell inspirational success stories of students
fighting racism on their way to the top. Freedom Writers tells a story of a school filled with gang
violence. One class, led by teacher Erin Gruwell, is taught to overlook their differences and unite. The
Great Debaters accounts Wiley College s debate team and how they had to fight extreme racism, on
top of becoming a successful team. In both movies, discrimination based on race is clear. A group in
power is looking down and taking advantage of people, based on their race. A strong teacher figure, in
Erin Gruwell and Melvin Tolson, is present to push the students to their potential. Although there is
racial tension and discrimination in both

Nazi Concentration Camp Essay
Dachau Nazi Concentration Camp Dachau was the first concentration camp ever built by the Nazis. It
was built on March 30, 1933, 10 miles away from Munich. In the beginning of the The Third Reich,
Dachau was built to hold the political prisoners. As the years went by there were Jews, and later on
there were more people brought in from different countries and races. When Dachau built new
buildings it could have fit 5,000 prisoners. By 1938 Dachau was finished, it had 32 barracks and was
able to fit in 6,000 prisoners. There was seven watch towers around the camp, along with electrical
fences. Later in 1942 Dachau built gas chambers. It was March 22, 1938 the first prisoners arrived

Advantage And Disadvantages Of Depreciation
4. Discuss about depreciation.
Depreciation is a method of allocating the cost of a tangible asset over the period in which the assets
are used. Most types of tangible assets such as machinery, vehicles, furniture, equipment and buildings
are depreciable. The only exception of tangible asset which is not depreciated is land because land is
not depleted over time. Depreciation also is a monetary value of an asset decreases over time due to
use, wear and tear, unfavourable market conditions or obsolescence of the property.
Besides, businesses depreciate long term assets for both tax and accounting purposes. For accounting
purpose, depreciation indicates how much of an asset s value has been used up. For tax purposes,
businesses can deduct the cost of the tangible assets they purchase as business expenses. Depreciation
is a non cash expense. In addition, depreciation is used in accounting to try to match the expense of an
asset to the income that the asset helps the company earn. For example, if a ... Show more content on

The one of advantages of straight line method is easy to understand and simple to calculate. The next
advantage of straight line method is it may be suitable where an asset such as plant, machinery and
vehicles utilization is the same in each year. Straight line method is useful where the pattern of
economic benefits is hard to determine with precision. Another advantage of straight line method is it
is most appropriate for assets that are depleted as a result of the passage of time, such as buildings,
leases and patents.
The disadvantage of straight line method is it assumes the benefits contributed by an asset are the
same over the period in which the assets are used. Besides, straight line method may not give an
accurate measure of the loss in value or reduction in useful life. The other disadvantage is it may not
reflect the true pattern of asset s economic benefits.

I Am A Girl, The World Of Esthetics Intrigued Me
About Me
Every since I was a little girl, the world of esthetics intrigued me. I have always loved the way people
can manipulate their features and transform them, whether that is hair, skin, nails or cosmetics. As I
grew up to began to become more and more attracted to cosmetics. My passion for it did not begin
until high school, where I realized my full potential. Throughout my four years of high school I was
on the dance team, where our makeup had to look uniform. As a freshman, my 15 year old friends did
not know a thing about makeup and I knew the basics. They would have me do their makeup and
would always tell me that I should be a makeup artist. As the years went by my abilities in makeup

My makeup line will be sure not to anything harmful to a consumer s skin, which is why the proper
research is necessary.
Starting a Makeup Line
Research and Design
One of the most important steps in starting a makeup line is finding a research lab to work with, which
is where most of my time will be spent. (Marlena, 2012) In a research lab I will decide what
ingredients that I want in my line. It is very important to find a lab that is credible and trustworthy.
There are many expensive brands in the industry that are in the higher range of prices. I want my line
to be affordable therefore I need a affordable lab that will help me create quality products. Another
important step is finding a factory for packaging and filling. This is where I will be able to decide how
I want my line to look. Smart packaging helps its targeted consumers feel an emotional attachment to
a brand. (Jarski,2014) choosing the smartest color scheme, shape, and design of my product can
determine how well my product can sell. About one third of a consumer s decision to purchase
something is its display or packaging. Especially in the beauty market today, I have to make sure my
products appeal to consumers. Cosmetics is all about empowerment therefore I need a product that is
going to appeal to that side of a woman.
According to the graph, many women have an emotional attachment to makeup which makes them
feel in control (Gaillie, 2013) It is important for me to

Pros And Cons Of Flood Control Essay
Flood control is a public good that helps to prevent flooding which, benefits the community, but can
cause market failure. Flooding can cause serious property damage and harm the lives of people and
other species. Floods can be caused by many reasons such as, high tides, hurricanes, tsunamis, heavy
rains, broken dams and more. Flood control is used to help prevent disasters caused by flooding
waters. Flood control is important everywhere, but it is even more important in areas where there are
large amounts of water like the Mississippi River, the Gulf Coast, East and West Coast, and even the
Great Lakes. There are many more areas, but those are just to name a few. In areas like these, flood
control is a public good because everyone has the ability to benefit from whatever is being used to
control the flood such as, dams, levees, sea or break walls, sand bags etc. Public goods are not
excludable nor rival in consumption which means everyone has access to it. The government provides
money for flood control to be built making them a public good and free for everyone to use as
protection against floods. Since flood control is free and the government pays for the flood prevention
this means it is a free market. A free market is an economic system where price is determined by
unrestricted competition. Market failure is when a market fails to allocate resources efficiently. A
public good can cause a market failure because if people get to use an item for free, firms cannot

Gun Violence In Schools Research Paper
Schools across the nation have hired a police officer to patrol the buildings throughout the school.
With an officer patrolling a school s campus all day, fewer acts of gun violence would occur. The
students would feel much safer if there was an officer patrolling the campus all day long. Also when
an act of violence occurs on a campus, the officer patrolling would be able to react quickly and
hopefully stop the violence. An officer at a school can do a lot more than protect the members
throughout the school though. Schools will hire officers that have first aid training. Officers could
respond to an emergency before any medical help can arrive. However, school officers might use
extreme force on a student, and people think that is unnecessary.

How Is Lennie Different In Of Mice And Men
Being different can make it hard to be accepted by others. They tend to push the abnormal people
away even if there s nothing they can do to change the way society sees them. In the novel, Of Mice
and Men, Lennie, a very needy and troublesome man, isn t accepted because of the way he acts and
talks to others. Lennie is not accepted for many reasons like how he acts like a child and never really
speaks for himself. Since Lennie does whatever George tells him to do, he tries blaming George for

with different results due to his strength. Lennie is unstable due to the fact that when he tries to do
good he doesn t understand his own strength which leads to bad things. After Lennie couldn t control
his desire to touch soft things, George had to help him escape Weed. As George was telling Slim the

Description Of The Snowy Egret
SPECIES PROFILE for SNOWY EGRET
(Egretta thula)
prepared for
MSC 276 Marine Vertebrate Zoology by Ashley Wells alwells705@cfcc.mail.edu Submitted: February
8, 2017
Names and classification
Egretta thula
Snowy Egret
Synonyms: Aigrette neigeuse (French), Garceta pie dorado/Garza chusmita/Garza nivea (Spanish)
Family: Ardeidae (Herons, Bitterns, and Egrets)
Description
The snowy egret Egretta thula is a relatively large wading bird, standing at around 24 inches [60.96
cm] high and displaying a brilliant white plumage. Very similar in appearance to the Great Egret, the
Snowy Egret can be distinguished by its bright yellow feet, sometimes referred to as golden slippers,
which contrast against its black legs. However, even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fig. 1 Distribution of Egretta thula throughout North and South America based on seasons.
Habitat
Snowy egrets inhabit marshes, ponds, swamps, and mudflats (Bull Farrand). Since snowy egrets are
wading birds, like other herons and egrets, they prefer habitats that are close to water. Wading birds
breed and build their nests in close proximity to water, allowing them to have access to food while
raising their young. In North America, the snowy egret s favorite habitats include salt marshes,
shallow bays, and mangroves. Snowy egrets prefer similar habitats throughout South and Central
America and the Caribbean (Weslosky, 2002).
Conservation Biology
Life cycle and reproduction
Breeding colonies, sometimes of multiple different species, form on islands surrounded by water or
guarded by a vegetative buffer. Such features are presumed to be desirable due to the protection they
provide from predators on the ground (Frederick, 2002). Nests are often built using sticks, reeds, and
other vegetation and constructed in trees, shrubs, or other aquatic vegetation (Elphick, 2014). A clutch
consists of 3 5 eggs, a pale blue green in color, laid in a nest located in a bush or reedbed, specific to
the species of egret (Bull Farrand, 1994). Breeding season begins in March or early April and males
will perform both flight and vocal displays to attract females. Snowy egrets are social nesters

Social Network Sites and Social Interaction
Introduction Literature Review Human beings are social beings and as such, social interaction with
others is crucial to one s definition, and perception of the self. Social interaction happens everyday,
and there are many components that work collaboratively in order to make these encounters flow in a
smooth manner (Goffman). Everyone engages in what Goffman called impression management (IM)
and this is which means that every participant in a social interaction defines the situation with the
information that is being exchanged, and this information is modified in a way that allows individuals
to obtain a desired reaction from others. There are various tactics of IM and one of them is called self
presentation. Self presentation encompasses all of the efforts individuals make in order to influence
others perceptions of themselves (cite). Early scholars such as Goffman referred to these practices as
happening on a face to face basis. However, as society adopted SNSs, social interaction as well as IM,
and self presentation have also been adapted into the virtual world, and so all of the WEB s a stage
(cite). Social network sites is defined as web based services that allow individuals to (1) construct a
public or semi public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users with whom
they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others
within the system (cite, real). Social network sites such as

I Had Known George For As Long As I Could Remember
I had known George for as long as I could remember. Our families were good friends, our mothers
liked to gossip over stale biscuits and diluted tea and our fathers liked to go fishing during the summer
months and hunting in the winter months. We d always spend holidays together too. My parents would
host the Fourth of July barbecue and Thanksgiving and his parents would host Christmas and Easter
dinner. Every time our families got together, George would be there. From the times he threw mud at
me when we were six or the time he pushed me through the ice when we were ten or the time he
locked me out of the house during a thunderstorm when we were fifteen, it wasn t until he left that we
fell in love.
George had been drafted in the war when we were 18, and while he was gone he wrote me letters.
Through the letters I saw a different side of George and I fell in love with him. He was poetic and
kind. We wrote letters back and forth for the entire two years he was gone and started dating not long
after he returned. And not long after we started dating, we were engaged to be married. George had
insisted we get married as soon as possible, we had known each other since we were in diapers, why
wait any longer? I had been so blinded with the new love, I had agreed. I can t begin to explain how
happy our mothers were when we announced our relationship, or how elated they were when we
announced our engagement. The wedding wasn t anything too extravagant. The ceremony took

Elie Wiesel s Night and Corrie Ten Boom s The Hiding Place
Many outsiders strive but fail to truly comprehend the haunting incident of World War II s Holocaust.
None but survivors and witnesses succeed to sense and live the timeless pain of the event which
repossesses the core of human psyche. Elie Wiesel and Corrie Ten Boom are two of these survivors
who, through their personal accounts, allow the reader to glimpse empathy within the soul and the
heart. Elie Wiesel (1928 ), a journalist and Professor of Humanities at Boston University, is an author
of 21 books. The first of his collection, entitled Night, is a terrifying account of Wiesel s boyhood

These strong survivors pose as teachers and role models by revealing strengths, weaknesses and
survival techniques. Wiesel and Ten Boom survive against the odds, but not without physical and
emotional scars.
The unsung hero and heroin pair experience tremendous suffering, but confront that affliction with
distinct contrary responses. The theme and style of Wiesel and Ten Boom reveal individual personal
beliefs and strength levels in reaction to their concentration camp experience during WWII s
Holocaust. Theme is the window which Wiesel and Ten Boom open through words and thoughts to
reveal the true purpose of their tales. Although both authors experience the grime of concentration
camp and grief of family loss, their responses to this suffering are distinct.
This distinctness is not unexpected, for as one s strengths and beliefs are personal, as is the effect of
events effecting those strengths and beliefs. Wiesel and Ten Boom state the purpose of their self
exposed stories clearly, and their purposes differ just as clearly. Wiesel stresses the importance of
applying lessons of the past to the present for the sake of the world s future. He writes to create a
feeling of such horror and catharsis within the reader to prevent the evil of the Holocaust or any type
of unjust persecution to ever occur again. He opens the reader s eyes with vividly horrible images of
human suffering and creates no barrier

a) E Waste
In the 21st century, everyone feels the need to be up to speed with all of the new gadgets and
technology. When new technology is released, people drop everything they re doing to run out and
buy it. But what happens to their fairly used devices that have been labeled out of style ? They are
thrown away and become electronic waste. Types of it, E Waste as it is better known as, includes
unwanted or broken circuit boards, computers, monitors, mp3 players, keyboards and DVD players.
Approximately 82% of these end up in landfills or incinerators. Most people fail to realize that
electronics are made from valuable materials that can be recycled, such as gold, silver, aluminum,
copper, nickel, and sometimes even platinum! Some E Waste products are extremely hazardous to
humans and to our environment. Polyvinylchloride, mercury and lead are all harmful substances found
in electronics. Fortunately many states and countries have created laws and made it very well known
to their citizens on how to deal with E waste.
The hazardous side effects of E Waste have the most impact on labor workers in other countries.
Where health regulations are not enforced, most of the labor workers are frail children with no
protection from the harmful chemicals that use their bare hands to take apart the electronics in order to
salvage valuable and reusable electronic parts. In Guiyu, China where child labor is the norm,
approximately 82% of

The Formula Of Magnesium Oxide
The purpose of this experiment is to verify the formula of magnesium oxide based on the masses of
magnesium and the product (MgO). We verify the formula firstly by calculating the empirical formula
of magnesium oxide and then calculating creating the magnesium oxide itself a magnesium ribbon is
combined with oxygen in the presence of air through combustion and this forms MgO. The empirical
formula of a compound is the simplest method of expressing a chemical formula in whole number
ratios of the constituent atoms that are consistent with masses measured in the experiment; whereas
the molecular formula expresses the chemical formula using the actual number of atoms. For example,
the molecular formula of anthracene is C14H10 while the empirical formula is C7H5.
Because of the Law of Definite Proportions, when the elements of magnesium and oxygen chemically
react to form a compound they do so in definite proportions by weight. The Law of Definite
Proportions states that if elements form a compound, they must combine in definite proportions by
weight. This means that all atoms form chemical compounds by combining in whole number ratios.
Take for example the elements of hydrogen and oxygen: they can combine to make water (H2O) but
in other conditions can combine to make hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). In both examples the ratio stays
the same. Likewise, in this experiment the elements magnesium and oxygen combine in whole
number ratios. We have hypothesized that magnesium and oxygen

It s good to pick a topic that you can actually find information on. If the topic you pick doesn t have
any information on it, it ll be hard to write a ten page paper on it. This brings you to the next step,
which would be finding information or sources on the topic that you choose. I have learned there are
five main types of sources: primary sources which presents original words of a writer, secondary
sources which analyzes somebody else s work, objective sources which uses experiments/survey
results, subjective sources which uses blogs and essays, and living sources from in person interviews
or phone calls. When you are finding sources I have learned that there are unstable sources out there. I
figured taking information from a website that wasn t reliable wasn t really the best thing to do but I
never knew it as an unstable source. I now know to use sources from websites like end with .org, .edu,
or .gov. The internet has so many endless and pointless information that it can be really easy to get off

Analysis Of The Beatles Moulin Rouge !
Moulin Rouge! Analysis
All you need is love; love is all you need. These famous lyrics sung by The Beatles, is the central
theme of the narrative and resonates throughout the film, Moulin Rouge! A romantic tragedy with a
hint of Shakespearean forbidden love, Moulin Rouge is encapsulated from its tragic but touching
romance by melodic and ambient singing. Baz Luhrmann, known for having vibrant cinematography
and theatrical mise en scene, showcases his directing as shown by the choreography and art direction.
The narrative structure of the film is a cinematic fairy tale romance as if the audience was reading a
classic tale.
The film begins with a hauntingly beautiful voice sung by what seems to be the narrator (whom we
later find out to be Toulouse Lautrec). The skyline of Paris is silhouetted in a grainy type of sketch
drawing, resembling the artwork of a children s book. As the story progresses, we are pulled into this
universe as we observe this fantasy. The voice conveys the pain of a writer, Christian, who we learn,
has lost a lover, Satine. Christian is obviously in agony as he types away on his type writer. The
greatest thing you ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return, he types. This statement
commences the plot to fall into place and sets the theme of the narrative. Within the first few minutes,
the tone of the film is already established. There is a sense of tragedy and heartbreak just from the
melancholic score and dark lighting. The main

Science and architect share a mutual goal where both intended to improve the society life style or in another word, to achieve community utopia. Science and architect is one of the main elements to promote utopia and this really make the society to believe that utopia exist. The future will be the combination of science and spirituality, and they should be together forever. In fact, only when we successfully continue to improve our level of consciousness and match the level of science and technology, human beings have a future. The future of humanity is very unpredictable, science may change the world as they see fits such as no disease, no hunger or no pain. Science can explain many problems, from the taste of the food to love, because love is the product of science! Nowadays for the environment, sea level rises every year and many countries started land reclamation to fix the problem such as Japan or Netherland. To face these problems, the architect has made a lot of conceptual idea to accommodate future human life. Since then, conceptual floating foundation design has been under development to adapt the environmental issue. It uses the principle of buoyancy to support the design and the principle itself is discovered by the scientist, which architect adapted this principle to the design. • 3. Ovid And Tibullus How and Whom Do We Love? Roman poets Ovid, Catullus, Propertius, and Tibullus, all define love in a similar way. All four poets describe love as being unrequited and sexual, with Ovid, Catullus and Tibullus being more erotic. Though they all are in love with their mistresses, they describe verbal and physical signs of abuse within the same timeframe of describing their passions. How can the two be connected when so vastly apart? Ovid writes about the same type of puella as Catullus, Propertius, and Tibullus. Ovid, Catullus, and Propertius make us question if the puella they describe is their mistress or just a fantasy. What makes them a real person? What keeps them a fantasy? Ovid, Catullus, and Propertius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Catullus talks about Lesbia s beloved pet dying, we are led to believe that Lesbia is his girlfriend. He speaks in great detail about her relationship with her pet sparrow. Surely Lesbia is as least his girlfriend, if not his wife. We soon learn that Catullus is making a fool of himself. Though at some point is appears that Lesbia returned his love, it is clear now that she does not as she tells him no. He is left to prepare himself to be rigid against Lesbia. Propertius heart burns for Cynthia. He leads us to believe that she returned his love at some time in which he was amongst those who are happy in love. Cynthia then makes it clear in a formal letter that she does not share his feelings of love. Each poet, Ovid, Catullus, Propertius, and Tibullus, has a puella that they are in love, or lust with. Their puellas share similarities with each other. Some of them more than others. The similarity that they all share is that each puella is described as a mistress. Or are they a fantasy? One cannot help but envision the beauty these women bestow. Ovid talks of Corinna s hair tumbling down on each side of her neck. He also goes into detail to describe her perfect body to us. Propertius also talks about Cynthia s hair when he discusses forming curls with her loose hair. Is the visualization of hair enough to make these women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Dangers Of Social Pressure The Dangers of Relenting to Social Pressure From early childhood to adulthood, the urge to submit to social pressure is a reality that shapes everyone on a daily basis. The desire to meet societal expectations is a factor that greatly impacts decision making from fashion sense, to choosing friends, and to making the right choices in the work force. Many times, this desire for acceptance repudiates one s beliefs and innate senses. In Opinions and Social Pressure by Solomon Asch, and Perils of Obedience by Stanley Milgram, the two psychologists conduct a series of experiments to observe how the influence of social pressure leads to conformity and obedience to authority. Both experiments demonstrate the adverse effects of social pressure, for conformity involves a sacrifice of self interests, while blind obedience to authority results in the harm of others. According to the results of the experiments, social pressure is a force that can cause people to act outside of their personal convictions and moral conscience. In Asch s experiment, he gathers a group of seven to nine male college students, to participate in a psychological experiment in visual judgment experiment in order to observe the time it would take for a subject to yield to social pressure (Asch 9). The group is told match the length of a line in comparison to three other lines of differing lengths. Both of the systems have a critical role of transmitting information as well as promoting regulated functions in the body. The endocrine system is responsible for secreting hormones to regulate the body s organs and cells. The nervous system is accountable for sending signals to other cells in the body to allow the body to react such as making the muscles move (eNotes, 18 September 2012). An example of the endocrine system would be the process of growth and development. • 8. Pathos In The Other Face Black holes are very huge formations in the space that have a tremendous tendency for absorbing everything in the surrounding, and so our personalities are. We are born as void memory children who couldn t differentiate between right and wrong. However, we were also programmed in a certain manner that tells us what we are supposed to be, or exhibit. Socialization is a main clue which is regarded as a programming utility for our personalities. Therefore, Salma Shalash, in The Other Face, had a desire in shedding the light over the effect of personality programming, socialization, on relationships, with respect to gender considerations. Shalash conducted her message by writing a short temporary Egyptian story of a couple, being about to marry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pathos was used explicitly by grabbing the emotions and feeling of the audience by the unexpected spontaneous reaction of the fiancée ( Ethos, Pathos, and Logos ), showing her real mask, when she noticed that her relationship and marriage are subjected to danger. Ethos is achieved by relying on a divorced axial character, a friend of hers. • 9. Romeo And Juliet Romantic Love Essay American author and psychotherapist, Robert A. Johnson, once said, Romantic love, being the single greatest energy system in the Western psyche, is a tremendous power that attracts. Romantic love is compelling and influential, however it is not the only kind of love. Love comes in many different forms each with their own special bond between the lovers. Some of these different types of love are friendship, unrequited love, parental love, love of family honor, and romantic love. Many of these distinct types of love are present in William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, a play about two young lovers from feuding families who are destined for doom. For instance, when Romeo drinks the poison to kill himself, he declares, Here s to my love [drinks] O true apothecary./ Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die. (V. iii. 119 120). Romeo s action of killing himself implies that he would rather die than have to live his life being separated from his lover Juliet. Romeo s romantic love for Juliet was so influential that it drove him to kill himself, which no other kind of love had the power or impact to do. When Juliet awoke from her faked death and found Romeo s body, she was devastated and reacted to the death of her love the same way Romeo did, by killing herself. For example, after discovering Romeo s dead body, Juliet comes upon Romeo s dagger and picks it up while stating, This is thy sheath; there rust and let me die. [She stabs herself and falls.] (V. iii. 170). Juliet s action of killing herself is prominent in the story because it establishes the strength of love. Juliet loved Romeo enough to commit suicide, which indicates that the romantic love Juliet had for Romeo was more significant than Juliet s will to live. The contributions of many brilliant minds to the field of statistics as well as their personal lives and historical perspectives were described. The story began in a sunny afternoon in Cambridge in the 1920s. A group of scientists was having a tea party when a lady claimed that there was a difference in taste between the cups where tea was poured into milk and the cups where milk was poured into tea. Sir Ronald Fisher who became a famous statistician suggested an experiment to test the lady s hypothesis. The story then goes to the 1890s when the statistical revolution started. Karl Pearson was considered by many as the founder of mathematical statistics. Pearson discovered the skew distributions stating that they would cover any type of data scatter and he described these distributions by four numbers; mean, standard deviation, kurtosis and symmetry. Later a Polish mathematician, Jerzy Neyman showed that Pearson s skew distributions can not be used to explain all possible distributions. Joplin was trained in classical music. Scott Joplin s Maple Leaf Rag was published in 1899 with a March Tempo. You can hear strong, steady chords in left hand keeps the march beat going throughout the piece, while the right hand plays a lively, syncopated melody against this steady beat. The sections are repeated in the usual pattern. The melody begins higher and moves down. The section is repeated. The opening section is played. The key is change too; there is a change in the right hand rhythmic; and left hand leaps. Once again the section is repeated. Then it returns to the original key; strong final cadence and the section are repeated as the music comes to end. I feel like this piece, he wanted to wow his audience. The impressive tempo and difficulty of the piece were his way of showing that ragtime was as legitimate as any other genre, regardless of its origins. Maple Leaf Rag is playful, fun, and yet oddly mature. The use of the lower notes against the high notes creates a contrast that feels like an adult borrowing childhood for a few moments. LICs fail to act upon the aid in order to develop but instead many see it as a way to keep afloat. Why put the time, resources and effort into developing when you will always be bailed out by these HICs. Another problem associated with aid is the idea that an LIC can receive too much of it. As free aid such as food and clothing comes in, LICs citizens, instead of purchasing these commodities, simply pick them up for free. This dumping of goods leads to unemployment as markets are forced to close down due to the option of getting their produce for free instead. With failures such as these it s clear to see why many opted instead to trade with LICs in order to cause some sort of knock on effect. LICs are often provided with trade rather then aid due to modernization. Essentially this consists of two key elements, the first being an increase in international trade and the second being a process of intensive industrialization to help provide goods for export. In effect, the developing countries were being encouraged to use the same kind of model that Western HICs had used to develop many decades ago. These modern socialist ideas of trade and economic growth took hold and became known as neoliberalism. This concept consisted of the idea that free trade is essential for economic growth, so markets should be as open as possible. This economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After Lennie couldn t control his desire to touch soft things, George had to help him escape Weed. As George was telling Slim the story of what happened in Weed he stated The guys in Weed start a party to lynch Lennie. So we hid in an irrigation ditch under water the rest of that day. Very similar in appearance to the Great Egret, the Snowy Egret can be distinguished by its bright yellow feet, sometimes referred to as golden slippers, which contrast against its black legs. However, even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fig. 1 Distribution of Egretta thula throughout North and South America based on seasons. Habitat Snowy egrets inhabit marshes, ponds, swamps, and mudflats (Bull Farrand). Since snowy egrets are wading birds, like other herons and egrets, they prefer habitats that are close to water. Wading birds breed and build their nests in close proximity to water, allowing them to have access to food while raising their young. In North America, the snowy egret s favorite habitats include salt marshes, shallow bays, and mangroves. Snowy egrets prefer similar habitats throughout South and Central America and the Caribbean (Weslosky, 2002). Conservation Biology Life cycle and reproduction Breeding colonies, sometimes of multiple different species, form on islands surrounded by water or guarded by a vegetative buffer. Such features are presumed to be desirable due to the protection they provide from predators on the ground (Frederick, 2002). Nests are often built using sticks, reeds, and other vegetation and constructed in trees, shrubs, or other aquatic vegetation (Elphick, 2014). A clutch consists of 3 5 eggs, a pale blue green in color, laid in a nest located in a bush or reedbed, specific to the species of egret (Bull Farrand, 1994). Breeding season begins in March or early April and males will perform both flight and vocal displays to attract females. Snowy egrets are social nesters

Social Network Sites and Social Interaction Introduction Literature Review Human beings are social beings and as such, social interaction with others is crucial to one s definition, and perception of the self. Social interaction happens everyday, and there are many components that work collaboratively in order to make these encounters flow in a smooth manner (Goffman). Everyone engages in what Goffman called impression management (IM) and this is which means that every participant in a social interaction defines the situation with the information that is being exchanged, and this information is modified in a way that allows individuals to obtain a desired reaction from others. There are various tactics of IM and one of them is called self presentation. Self presentation encompasses all of the efforts individuals make in order to influence others perceptions of themselves (cite). Early scholars such as Goffman referred to these practices as happening on a face to face basis. However, as society adopted SNSs, social interaction as well as IM, and self presentation have also been adapted into the virtual world, and so all of the WEB s a stage (cite). Social network sites is defined as web based services that allow individuals to (1) construct a public or semi public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system (cite, real). • 32. I Had Known George For As Long As I Could Remember I had known George for as long as I could remember. Our families were good friends, our mothers liked to gossip over stale biscuits and diluted tea and our fathers liked to go fishing during the summer months and hunting in the winter months. We d always spend holidays together too. My parents would host the Fourth of July barbecue and Thanksgiving and his parents would host Christmas and Easter dinner. Every time our families got together, George would be there. From the times he threw mud at me when we were six or the time he pushed me through the ice when we were ten or the time he locked me out of the house during a thunderstorm when we were fifteen, it wasn t until he left that we fell in love. George had been drafted in the war when we were 18, and while he was gone he wrote me letters. Through the letters I saw a different side of George and I fell in love with him. He was poetic and kind. We wrote letters back and forth for the entire two years he was gone and started dating not long after he returned. And not long after we started dating, we were engaged to be married. George had insisted we get married as soon as possible, we had known each other since we were in diapers, why wait any longer? I had been so blinded with the new love, I had agreed. I can t begin to explain how happy our mothers were when we announced our relationship, or how elated they were when we announced our engagement. The wedding wasn t anything too extravagant. The ceremony took ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Elie Wiesel s Night and Corrie Ten Boom s The Hiding Place Many outsiders strive but fail to truly comprehend the haunting incident of World War II s Holocaust. None but survivors and witnesses succeed to sense and live the timeless pain of the event which repossesses the core of human psyche. Elie Wiesel and Corrie Ten Boom are two of these survivors who, through their personal accounts, allow the reader to glimpse empathy within the soul and the heart. Elie Wiesel (1928 ), a journalist and Professor of Humanities at Boston University, is an author of 21 books. The first of his collection, entitled Night, is a terrifying account of Wiesel s boyhood experience as a WWII Jewish prisoner of Hitler s dominant and secretive Nazi party. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These strong survivors pose as teachers and role models by revealing strengths, weaknesses and survival techniques. Wiesel and Ten Boom survive against the odds, but not without physical and emotional scars. The unsung hero and heroin pair experience tremendous suffering, but confront that affliction with distinct contrary responses. The theme and style of Wiesel and Ten Boom reveal individual personal beliefs and strength levels in reaction to their concentration camp experience during WWII s Holocaust. Theme is the window which Wiesel and Ten Boom open through words and thoughts to reveal the true purpose of their tales. Although both authors experience the grime of concentration camp and grief of family loss, their responses to this suffering are distinct. This distinctness is not unexpected, for as one s strengths and beliefs are personal, as is the effect of events effecting those strengths and beliefs. Wiesel and Ten Boom state the purpose of their self exposed stories clearly, and their purposes differ just as clearly. Wiesel stresses the importance of applying lessons of the past to the present for the sake of the world s future. He writes to create a feeling of such horror and catharsis within the reader to prevent the evil of the Holocaust or any type of unjust persecution to ever occur again. He opens the reader s eyes with vividly horrible images of human suffering and creates no barrier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Questions On Environmental Summer Assignment 3) Environmental Summer Assignment Essays a) E Waste In the 21st century, everyone feels the need to be up to speed with all of the new gadgets and technology. When new technology is released, people drop everything they re doing to run out and buy it. But what happens to their fairly used devices that have been labeled out of style ? They are thrown away and become electronic waste. Types of it, E Waste as it is better known as, includes unwanted or broken circuit boards, computers, monitors, mp3 players, keyboards and DVD players. Approximately 82% of these end up in landfills or incinerators. Most people fail to realize that electronics are made from valuable materials that can be recycled, such as gold, silver, aluminum, copper, nickel, and sometimes even platinum! Some E Waste products are extremely hazardous to humans and to our environment. Polyvinylchloride, mercury and lead are all harmful substances found in electronics. Fortunately many states and countries have created laws and made it very well known to their citizens on how to deal with E waste. The hazardous side effects of E Waste have the most impact on labor workers in other countries. Where health regulations are not enforced, most of the labor workers are frail children with no protection from the harmful chemicals that use their bare hands to take apart the electronics in order to salvage valuable and reusable electronic parts. In Guiyu, China where child labor is the norm, approximately 82% of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Formula Of Magnesium Oxide The purpose of this experiment is to verify the formula of magnesium oxide based on the masses of magnesium and the product (MgO). We verify the formula firstly by calculating the empirical formula of magnesium oxide and then calculating creating the magnesium oxide itself a magnesium ribbon is combined with oxygen in the presence of air through combustion and this forms MgO. The empirical formula of a compound is the simplest method of expressing a chemical formula in whole number ratios of the constituent atoms that are consistent with masses measured in the experiment; whereas the molecular formula expresses the chemical formula using the actual number of atoms. For example, the molecular formula of anthracene is C14H10 while the empirical formula is C7H5. Because of the Law of Definite Proportions, when the elements of magnesium and oxygen chemically react to form a compound they do so in definite proportions by weight. The Law of Definite Proportions states that if elements form a compound, they must combine in definite proportions by weight. This means that all atoms form chemical compounds by combining in whole number ratios. Take for example the elements of hydrogen and oxygen: they can combine to make water (H2O) but in other conditions can combine to make hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). In both examples the ratio stays the same. Likewise, in this experiment the elements magnesium and oxygen combine in whole number ratios. We have hypothesized that magnesium and oxygen ... ENGL 102 Reflective Essay When August rolled around the corner I started to get nervous and excited about taking ENGL 102 Research Writing, nervous because writing isn t my strong point and excited because it would mean learning something new. I have heard the horror stories from other students about writing ten page papers and couldn t fathom the idea of having to write about one topic for ten pages long. I remember when I first looked at the syllabus and felt quite over whelmed. After about a month into the class I realized it wasn t so bad after all, and really started to understand the whole concept of writing based off of research. Through exercises, reading, and discussion boards it was all starting to make sense. The first step in starting a research essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s good to pick a topic that you can actually find information on. If the topic you pick doesn t have any information on it, it ll be hard to write a ten page paper on it. This brings you to the next step, which would be finding information or sources on the topic that you choose. I have learned there are five main types of sources: primary sources which presents original words of a writer, secondary sources which analyzes somebody else s work, objective sources which uses experiments/survey results, subjective sources which uses blogs and essays, and living sources from in person interviews or phone calls. When you are finding sources I have learned that there are unstable sources out there. I figured taking information from a website that wasn t reliable wasn t really the best thing to do but I never knew it as an unstable source. I now know to use sources from websites like end with .org, .edu, or .gov. The internet has so many endless and pointless information that it can be really easy to get off task. It s easier to stay on task if you go straight to websites that have reliable information. When finding sources it is equally important to start making a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Analysis Of The Beatles Moulin Rouge ! Moulin Rouge! Analysis All you need is love; love is all you need. These famous lyrics sung by The Beatles, is the central theme of the narrative and resonates throughout the film, Moulin Rouge! A romantic tragedy with a hint of Shakespearean forbidden love, Moulin Rouge is encapsulated from its tragic but touching romance by melodic and ambient singing. Baz Luhrmann, known for having vibrant cinematography and theatrical mise en scene, showcases his directing as shown by the choreography and art direction. The narrative structure of the film is a cinematic fairy tale romance as if the audience was reading a classic tale. The film begins with a hauntingly beautiful voice sung by what seems to be the narrator (whom we later find out to be Toulouse Lautrec). The skyline of Paris is silhouetted in a grainy type of sketch drawing, resembling the artwork of a children s book. As the story progresses, we are pulled into this universe as we observe this fantasy. The voice conveys the pain of a writer, Christian, who we learn, has lost a lover, Satine. Christian is obviously in agony as he types away on his type writer. The greatest thing you ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return, he types. This statement commences the plot to fall into place and sets the theme of the narrative. Within the first few minutes, the tone of the film is already established. There is a sense of tragedy and heartbreak just from the melancholic score and dark lighting. The main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
