How Does Memory Affect The Development Of Middle Childhood
With each growing year a child s vocabulary increases. By the time children are six years old, they
have become proficient at the knowledge of basic grammar and vocabulary of their main language. By
this age group, children are speaking parts of speech such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives. They are
capable of learning up to twenty words a day and they become more flexible and logical. Children can
comprehend prefixes, suffixes, metaphors, and other figures of speech. Because children can now
understand and use metaphors, it becomes easier for them to reveal and express their emotions. The
best way for children to learn most of their vocabulary is through their family and friends. Middle age
children tend to learn best when in an environment with their friends and family not in a class.
During middle childhood memory plays a large part in the child s developing and learning. Also,
memory improves significantly during this time period. At this age, all stages of memory are affected
by the development and experience of the child. Sensory memory, which is the first element of
memory, which improves slightly until the child reaches approximately ten years old, and then
remains sufficient until adulthood. Working memory improves steadily and significantly. Working
memory improves the most once in middle childhood because children of this ... Show more content

Metacognition allows a child to evaluate how they may accomplish a task and then improve or make
adjustments to it if needed. Like most skills, metacognition improves with age and experience.
Metacognition is a cognitive skill and helps children during middle childhood by helping them use
their brains when completing a task or goal. If that task or goal is not successfully done then the child
can use more cognitive brain power to figure out how they can improve it. Their ability to do this will
help them in many situations from academic to social and

The Nuremberg Trials Involvement With The Holocaust
War Crimes Trials
The War Crimes Trials, also known as the Nuremberg Trials, were a series of two hundred sixteen
court sessions and thirteen trials charging twenty four main Nazi party officials, highly ranked military
leaders, doctors and lawyers against their involvement with the Holocaust. The trials began on
November 20, 1945 at the Nuremberg Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany, due to its significant
connection to the Holocaust, and the Nazi Party. The trials were conducted by a U.S., French, British,
and Soviet military tribunal, and the trials were authorized by the London Agreement. The charges
against those being tried were crimes against peace including planning, starting and waging war; war

On October 1, 1946, verdicts on twenty two of the twenty four defendants had been handed down.
Twelve of the original twenty four were sentenced to death by hanging including Julius Streicher,
Alfred Rosenberg, Joachim von Ribbentrop, Martin Bormann, and Hermann Goering. Bormann was
tried and sentenced in absentia, Gustav Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach was deemed mentally unfit,
and too ill to stand at trial. Goering was sentenced to death, but on the eve of his execution, took a
cyanide crystal and died within minutes. Robert Ley, known as the undisputed dictator of labor in
Germany, was obsessed with the idea of becoming a martyr, and committed suicide in his prison cell
shortly before his trial began. Ten of twelve were sentenced to death by hanging, and were executed
on October 16,1946. The rest of the defendants received prison sentences from ten years imprisonment
to life imprisonment. Chancellor and dictator of Germany, and leader of the Nazi party, Adolf Hitler,

The Herbal And Dietary Supplement Market
INTRODUCTION Nutraceutical, a term derived from the words nutrition and pharmaceutical refers to
food or a constituent of the food which has been scientifically proven to provide health and
therapeutic benefits such as the prevention and treatment of a disease. The term was formulated by Dr
Stephen de Felice in 1989. Nutraceuticals have a role in maintaining and improving the wellbeing and
health of an individual as well as regulating immunity. Consequently preventing and treating
particular diseases (Chauhan et a.l, 2013). Nutraceuticals are found in a diverse group of products
coming forth from the food industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the herbal and dietary supplement
market. They are present in most of the food ingredients with varying concentration. A diet rich in
these along with regular exercise, stress reduction and maintainance of healthy body weight will
maximize health and reduce disease risks (Chaturvedi et al., 2011). Nutraceuticals are on demand
because medical science is now realising the importance of food in treatment and prevention of
diseases since regular consumption of synthetic drugs sometimes cause organ failure and so many
other effects. Again, consumers have the belief that food like substances are either harmless or less
toxic as compared to conventional drugs, furthermore nutraceuticals are cheaper and are safe with
regards to avoiding the side effects associated with drugs (Tapans et al., 2008). CLASSIFICATION
Nutraceuticals can be

How Does Henry Fleming Show Courage
Throughout history , we find courage weaving itself into the souls of remarkable people. A Soldier
shows courage by sacrificing his/her life for their comrades and their cause. The Merriam Webster
Dictionary defines Courage as the quality of mind and spirit as one has in the face of peril and fear .
Henry Fleming was naive, and a coward, but in the end, his mind and his spirit grew strong. As he
exposed himself to the gruesome side of war, he fulfilled the definition of the term courage by making
mistakes, learning to not overthink and misjudge, and by showing that love to one s home can be the
necessary inspiration to go down fighting. Henry finally flourishes from a boy to an American
courageous man. Fleming visualized war as a spotlight that would shine upon him. Fleming believed
in honor; not in the sense of fighting for what s right, (at first) but fighting for a reputation. He left his
home, his mother, and his boyhood to chase after a gilded future that would not come easy. Henry
entered the army with the wrong image on fighting, and remotely mused on the aspects of what came
with war. Considering the definition of courage, Henry did not start off with a strong quality of mind
and endurance. His spirit was childish, and, as said previously, quite naive. Fleming strutted to the war
with the hopes of fame and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As described in the text, the trees seemed to be murmuring and moving out of his way . Henry
interprets this as if the trees did not want to interact with a coward. He states that the sun was
beckoning anyone close by to humiliate and harangue him over his cowardly escape with it s bright
light. As an act of desperation, Fleming tries to find justification in his actions by comparing himself
to a squirrel. Henry overthinks his shameful situation without giving it much thought about the other
comrades and their personal

Comparing Sigmund Freud s Understanding Of Infant And...
For Freud, it s important to understand that Infant and waking life were full of emotions, drives,
wishes, traumas, aggression, sex, and experiences that our mind could not consciously handle and that
loaded psychic material could not regularly be repressed or barried in the unconscious. He once
quoted, There is, in fact, no better analogy for repression, by which something in the mind is at once
made inaccessible and preserved than burial of the sort to which Pompeii fell a victim and from which
it could emerge once more through the work of spades Freud The Problem is that during the night
there is less automatic repression. These latent dream thoughts would bubble up. If unchaste, these
infantile drives, wishes, and traumas would be experienced

Kant, The Rallying Call For Kant s Enlightenment
Sapere aude! is the rallying call for Kant s enlightenment. Translated, it roughly means dare to be
wise. Plato, through the voice of Socrates in the dialogues The Euthyphro and The Crito, demonstrates
the ultimate example of Kant s definition of enlightenment. Socrates fearlessly dares to be wise.
In 1784, Immanuel Kant wrote a groundbreaking essay addressing a question posed by Reverend
Johann Zollner. The essay was entitled What is Enlightenment . Within this essay, Kant defines what
enlightenment. Kant gives a very basic answer to the question what is enlightenment? in the very first
sentence of the essay. Kant very directly states, Enlightenment is man s release from his self incurred
tutelage (Kant, 1). This means that man prevents themselves from reaching enlightenment by allowing
themselves to stay in a state of immature tutelage or intellectual dependence on others. Kant continued
to explain how easy it truly is to remain in tutelage. Kant expressed If I have a book, which
understands for me, a pastor who has a conscience for me, a physician who decides my diet, and so
forth, I need not trouble myself. I need not think... (Kant, 1) It is once a person liberates themselves
from the bonds of immaturity and begins to make their own judgments and conjure up their own ideas
that a person is actually enlightened. Not only does Kant explain what it means to be enlightened, but
Kant describes all the different requirements for enlightenment to be achieved. This

Deprivation In Middle School
Holding a grudge against someone would sometimes make situations worse than they already are.
In middle school, I had a friend who did not have a lot of materialistic things everyone else had,
clothes, shoes or jewelry, a fancy cell phone. Sometimes you would see her wearing the same shirts. A
lot of people would say she used to steal from friends or clothing stores or from grocery stores, in
general, I would have to say this lesson taught me a lot. You never know what someone is going
through. it is better to forget than to forgive well I beg to differ. On the first day of school Michele sat
beside me in Economics class I noticed she did not have any of her things. No books, pencils, pens, a
notepad, she just did not have anything it was just her. In my head, I started thinking oh she s one of
those students that comes to class unprepared and expects to copy off everyone s paper well she was
not copying off mine. Class started and she asked for a pencil, I was going to give her one of my
mechanical pencils but I knew I was not going to get it back so I gave her one of those wooden pencils
that no one uses they were just sitting in my pencil pouch taking up space anyway so why not? To my
surprise, she did her work but she never turned it in for some strange odd reason though. We were
doing a group assignment but we were required to have our own answers I would check her answers
from time to time and they were all correct, one day the teacher pulled me aside and asked

Sarcoplasmic Reticulum Essay
Sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) play s a critical role in the function of contraction and relaxation of the
muscle (John Wiley and Sons, 2003). It provides the ability to control and balance the amount of
calcium being released/uptake and for storage (John Sons, 2003). There is a correlation between
defects in calcium transport by SR and the ability for the heart to function (Alpert, Arai, MacLennan,
and Periasamy, 1993). By alternating the gene expression that encodes SR proteins, it will show if the
abnormalities in calcium uptake and release has a association with heat failure (Alpert et al., 1993).
Defects in the ability of the sarcoplasmic reticulum to uptake/release calcium could cause dysfunction

Valdivia, 2003). It is considered heart failure if there is an improper function of systolic and diastolic
for the heart to pump blood (Donald et al., 2003). It was difficult to obtain normal healthy hearts to
compare to therefore, looked at levels of mRNA and phospholamban (regulate Ca2+ pump) that
encodes SR to see the rate at which calcium is being uptake/released (Alpert et al., 1993). Patients
with heart failure, showed a delay in the rate of the calcium uptake/release of about 50% decrease in
the right ventricle by SR (Alpert et al., 1993).Furthermore, there was a 48% decrease of messenger
mRNA in binding with ATP and uptake of calcium in the left ventricle (Alpert et al., 1993).
Sarcoplasmic reticulum had a decrease rate in pumping calcium, which caused low rhythm that lead to
heart failure (Alpert et al., 1993). The gene expression mRNA is important for the sarcoplasmic

Definition Essay On Forgiveness
Even though many circumstances need forgiveness and God often calls is to forgive. Everyone makes
mistakes and some are easy to forgive but not always. Forgiveness isn t always easy, but is
enormously important for a relationship to move on.
According to the bible god desires that we as humans seek forgiveness. Forgiveness isn t always
pleasant to give to somebody, and giving forgiveness isn t always apparent. No doubt that forgiveness
may be hard but god will lead and follow you through it. Forgiveness is in over 20 bible verses, and
that shows that forgiveness is an important thing all around.
As read in Matthew 6:14 15 14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will
not forgive your sins. I once had to forgive a friend for something they did wrong terribly wrong to

Symptoms And Treatment Of A Long Term Condition
This essay will focus on a patients journey and the impact of a long term condition in their lives.
Firstly, an outline of the selected patients journey will be delivered and the pathophysiology and
related nursing care of the patient and their long term condition will be explained. Secondly, the wider
role of the nurse and the self management of the patient with the long term condition will be explored.
Finally, the knowledge gained from this assessment and how it will influence future practice will be
reflected upon. Mrs X is an 81 year old lady who suffered from an ischemic stroke. She first started
noticing the symptoms when she was visiting a friend. Mrs X started experiencing sudden trouble
speaking and seeing, weaknesses, sudden confusion and severe headache. As her symptoms worsened
her friend thought it was necessary to call the emergency services and after explaining Mrs X s
symptoms an ambulance arrived within 15minutes. Mrs X was quickly escorted to the local accident
and emergency department where she was immediately assessed. A number of tests were carried out
including an electrocardiogram to show how the stroke was caused, a CT scan to determine what type
of stroke Mrs X had and a swallowing test was carried out by speech and language therapy to assess
whether or not she could swallow properly, if not this would create a risk that food may get into the
lungs, causing the patient to aspirate which may lead to severe chest infection or pneumonia. After

The Impact Of The European Colonization Of North America
The Spanish and the European settlers that came to the North America took on the east coast part of
this region. Wherefore, there were many different Indian tribes that existed in this place whom spoke
different languages, practiced different customs, and used different techniques in raising their own
crops and hunting livestock. It was a mix of people who were better at farming while others were
better at agricultural activities. Some people involved in war while some did not. As for my example,
some of the Indian nations that existed here were the Seneca, the Mohawk, the Cherokee, and the
Seminole. They were able to practice and share amongst themselves a highly developed system of
trade wherein they traded goods over a wide area. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I understand and analyze the historical events which transpired through time, the native Americans
did not have a good relationship with the Europeans. One can see that the latter were not very
sensitive with the culture of the native Americans while, on the other note, these Europeans came from
a then more modernized country as the native Americans saw them as a group of people with enough
weapons or guns that is useful to them. Also, Indians were able to provide food for these foreigners.
At first, they traded well with each other in terms that both groups had benefits from one another.
However, towards the end, when there was already an imbalance with the animals that were being
hunted as food and the crops that were raised for agricultural purposes, the English people started
drawing boundaries on territories. Soon after, Indians started competing amongst themselves just to
find a suitable land for hunting and agriculture.
The pattern that I see here is the continuous dependency of Europeans on the land, resources, and
means of shelter from the Native Americans. The pattern also evolves on the notion of Europeans to
turn this new discovery and utilize this connection for trade and commerce of their interests with
another country or countries as well. In the end, both groups were able to trade with each other that
left Virginia having the Charter of the Virginia Company of London. This company, however,

The Six Principals Of Persuasion
Six Principals of Persuasion To run a successful business there are many qualities a person needs to
have. Some things are inherently given such as charm and good looks. There are also qualities than
can be learned like the art of being an eloquent speaker or how to be a persuasive speaker. The art of
persuasion can be delicate, you aim is to persuade you audience not to manipulate them. It is very
important not to confuse the two. On the one hand you are using facts to convey your point on the
other you are attempting to play on the emotions of your audience. Robert Cialdini explains it best
with his six principals of persuasion. The Principal of Reciprocity is the first of Robert Cialdini s
principals of persuasion. Reciprocity simply means a mutual exchange of privileges (Merriam
Webster. n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This principal teaches you how the clients appreciate commitment and consistency but also how you
can get commitment and consistency from your client. All you have to do is provide a timely and
consistent product or service and your part is done. To get your client to keep coming back to you,
there are a few things you can ask of them such as something small like writing a review of your
services, or rewarding them for their loyalty to your company. By getting your customer to write a
review, you are already helping yourself with the next principal of persuasion. Fifth, we have the
Principal of Consensus. It is true that people follow the path of least resistance and have a pack
mentality. One of the first things people do before they decide to buy a product is to read the customer
reviews. If majority of the people like it then it is more likely that they will buy it. Celebrity
endorsements and personal testimonials are some of the most effective ways to persuade you
audience. If you are selling sneakers you would not have Betty White endorse you, rather you would
have an athlete like Kobe

Richardson produced, directed and captured all the footage himself. The end result is a multitude of
powerful one on one interviews, archival footage of patients, and candid long takes. Richardson cuts
himself out of the interviews, and edits together strikingly frank sound bytes to showcase his subjects
talking about death and the affect of the law. His use of archival footage primarily captures his patients
when they were healthy, and provides a striking contrast as they seriously discuss death towards the
end of their lives. His use of candid long takes captures some of the most poignant moments of the
film, including the final minutes of one man s life after taking the lethal drugs. The camera is a
spectator in the room, as the man accompanied by his family; all face his personal decision to die
together. All of these different footage types work together to provide emotional weight to an already
troubling subject.
2) Richardson s non interventionist style is a prime example of observational documentary, and works
specifically well in capturing and promulgating the subject of death. According to Nichols,
observational documentaries started appearing in the 1960 s as result of more mobile and smaller
equipment. Furthermore, observational documentary stresses non intervention, as filmmakers
objectively observe indirect speech, candidness in the form of long takes, and create a world out of
historical reality not fabricated with

WHAT CAUSES A TORNADO AND THE EFFECT THEY HAVE
First the public is taught to recognize the environmental clues such as dark, often greenish sky, wall
clouds, large hail, and loud roaring sound like a train. The National Weather Service broadcasts
watches and warnings for tornadoes as well as for thunderstorms. The civil defense sirens are sounded
at night in conjuction with the warnings when everyone is asleep because they may not aware of the
watches or warnings, if the town has them.
Some other effects of these monsters are that people loose their houses and properties and for some
without insurance it is total devastation. There are many effects due to tornadoes and way too many to
go into on this short paper.
WHAT CAUSES A TORNADO AND THE EFFECT THEY HAVE
CONCLUSION
The effects of tornadoes are slight to major destruction and the cost can be very high up to the loss of
life. Prepare yourself, have a plan to escape to safety. If you are in a tornado prone area then you
might want to get a weather radio that has a siren to warn of impending activity.

Capitalism Essay
Capitalism
Throughout my duration in college, business has been my major area of concentration. Capitalism is
the most central and consequential topic which has to do with business. The ideals of capitalism, over
time, have faced much scrutiny. Many great minds within the past two centuries have discredited
capitalism, for the virtues of socialism and the whole of society. It is my intent to put forth a moral
justification of the ideals behind capitalism. Ayn Rand said The moral justification of capitalism does
not lie in the altruist claim that it represents the best way to achieve the common good .
It is true that capitalism does, if that catch phrase has any meaning, but this is merely a secondary ...

Assuming that consumers are most concerned with their own self interest, the demand for goods that
are the most useful or helpful for society will arise. Assuming, also, that producers are most concerned
with their own self interest, they will further their own cause by striving to produce those goods which
will be the most useful to society at the lowest possible cost. Many economists have debated that
capitalism is practical because it allows each individual to align their actions with their own thoughts,
instead of acting under the demands of bureaucrats. A multitude of minds attack each problem under
capitalism. The successful thinkers thrive because they are able to see the opportunities that the other
thinkers do not.
They think of new products and come up with more efficient production methods which are
innovative to their field. Everyone is able to begin a business, raise money, and market his own
product in a free market, and each individual thinker is free to use his own ideas, and his success or
failure is based on the merits of his own idea. The successful thinker brings improved and new
products at a lower cost which creates economic advance and opulence. In order to fully understand
capitalism, we must have some understanding of other politico economic systems. Socialism is a

Saint Sebastian Was An Important Event In Italian s Life
The saint that I choose to follow as an example and pray to and whose name I chosen for
Confirmation is Saint Sebastian. His feast day is January 20th. Saint Sebastian had many very
important events occur throughout his life, but there were three that stood out to me. The first thing
that impressed me about Saint Sebastian was that he converted many Roman prisoners and the
governor of Rome to Christianity. He did this even though he knew that if he was caught he would be
killed. The next important event was after he was discovered to be a Christian he was sentenced to be
executed. He was shot with arrows and left to die. Saint Sebastian survived his execution with the help
of God. The next important event in his life was when the Roman emperor ... Show more content on

The virtue that was he practiced the most was courage. Saint Sebastian shows courage when he
converts all of the prisoners and the governor to Christianity even though he knew he was putting his
own and their lives in great danger. Saint Sebastian resembles Jesus in many ways. One way that Jesus
is resembled by Saint Sebastian is that he risks his life to teach others about the word of God. Another
way Saint Sebastian resembles Jesus is that he encouraged others to be strong in their faith.
There are many ways that I could follow Saint Sebastian s example in my everyday life. One way I
could follow his example is when I am in a bad situation I could do what God would want me to do
just like what Saint Sebastian did. The next way I can follow Saint Sebastian s example is by helping
others who have any doubt about the teachings of God. The last way is by practicing the virtue of
courage just like Saint Sebastian did.
I chose the confirmation name Sebastian because Saint Sebastian had a unyielding relationship with
God. He inspires me to make even small sacrifices to God because he was willing to risk his life
teaching others about God.

Common Sense American History Essay
Throughout American history there have been many challenges and successes that have made the
Unites States what it is today. Without the role of important figures, long wars, and hard work the
country we love might not be where it is at today. Learning about the past of our nation is crucial in
order for us to move forward, learn from our mistakes, and continue to the best country in the world.
Luckily, because the founders of our nation knew how important it was to hold on to significant
documents we have access to read how our nation shifted into what it is today first hand. There are

Regardless of the weaknesses in Paine s article, Common Sense is extremely valuable to scholars and
students. For both scholars and students Common Sense allows them to learn exactly what was
happening during this time in America. This first hand document allows readers to get a better
understanding of where America was at and why they needed independence and why they were
capable of earning their independence. This pamphlet allowed scholars to see exactly how America
came one step closer to declaring its independence, and it allows students to get a glimpse of the
thoughts of a first hand colonist who was going through what they read in their history books. If
Thomas Paine never published Common Sense Americans today would not only fail to fully grasp the

The simple question is, what is the most useful way of employing it? All parties seem to be agreed on
one point, that the dialects commonly spoken among the natives of this part of India contain neither

what I could to form a correct estimate of their value. I have read translations of the most celebrated
Arabic and Sanskrit works. I have conversed both here and at home with men distinguished by their
proficiency in the Eastern tongues. I am quite ready to take the Oriental learning at the valuation of the
Orientalists themselves. I have never found one among them who could deny that a single shelf of a

exaggeration to say, that all the historical information which has been collected from all the books

all the white immigrants and refugees whenever they arrived into the United States of America

Descriptive Statistics And Its Impact On The Visualization...
Introduction Statistics, the cornerstone of any empirical study, are the foundation for analyses. In this
instance, descriptive statistics, which are data points that describe the distinct qualities of a population,

represented, summarized, and interpreted in a meaningful, but simple, way. Exploring descriptive
statistics may provide for the appearance of a pattern or aid in the visualization of the collective

The goal of the experiment conducted was to determine the correlation, if any, between Texas A M
student alcohol consumption each week and the number of classes missed per week. Given the
abilities and constraints of descriptive statistics, choosing to focus on this type of statistic allowed for
the student to properly view the overall information, since there were many interacting values.
Method
In this study, the participants were randomly selected throughout a two week period (N = 35). The
people were all Texas A M students, ranging from freshman to senior classifications (M = 2.71, SD =
1.07, freshman to senior recorded as 1 to 4). The continuous predictors for this experiment were the
participants ages and how many alcoholic beverages that they said they consumed per week. The
participants had a mean age of of 20.43 (SD = 1.58). The variables in this study were how many
classes a student missed per week, how many hours they were taking, how likely they were to miss
class after a night of drinking, and how enjoyable class was after a night of consuming alcohol. How
likely they were to miss class after a night of drinking and how enjoyable class was the morning after

Diseases of the cardiovascular and lymphatic system can present itself in many ways. Often these
diseases circulate through the body creating a vehicle for pathogens to spread. We will look at four
different diseases that affect the cardiovascular and lymphatic system. Plague is an infectious disease;
it had a deadly effect on human history. The plague was known as Black Death in the middle ages.
The causative agents of the plague are Yersinia pestis Gram negative bacteria. This bacterium is

The causative agent is Filoviridae ebolavirus. There is no known reservoir for the virus, although
scientists believe that fruit bats may be a possible reservoir because they harbor the disease without

two to twenty one days, which resembles the flu and often mistaken or misdiagnosed as the flu.
However, as the disease progress, bleeding from the inside is noticeable through stool, coughing up
blood, bleeding from the eyes and ears. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for this deadly infection
and usually involves treating the symptoms as they appear. Nursing interventions are a major part in
treating the patient and possible survival from this disease. Priority nursing interventions include,
watching for any changes in the patient s respiration rate and pattern, monitor the patient s fluid and

Analysis Of John Updike s A P
John Updike is viewed by his readers as a progressive voice in his work that promotes feminist issues.
He makes these issues stand out more evidently, rather than hidden, in order for the reader to realize
how women are viewed in society. From reading Updike s A P, the story sends the message to readers
of genders working together to strive for equality. If readers do not carefully and actively read A P
they may miss key messages about the power men hold over women, not just in society but in
literature as well. Even though Updike s A P seems to be a story about a teenager finally standing up
to his boss and quitting the job he hates, the tone used reveals the hidden message on how women are
in a male oriented world. The relationship between both men are women are shown as unequals, men
on the top and women always below them, Updike makes sure to open up the reader s eyes in
realizing the way females are being treated unfairly.
The first bathing suit girl who walks into the A P and catches Sammy s immediately looks at the
chunky girl with a two piece plaid bathing suit on that showed off her sweet broad soft looking can
(Updike 157). Sammy goes in detail at pointing out this girl s body features, especially her behind,
those two crescents of white just under it, where the sun never seems to hit (Updike 158). If the girl

Theories And Theories Of The Social Analysis Of Max Weber,...
Concepts are a general idea about something commonly delivered as a single word or a phrase such as
Power Freedom and Revolution . Whereas, theories are an explanation of observed data which is
conveyed as reliable. As it is difficult to give one singular, finite and definitive definition to both
terms, the definitions offered above are the perspective through which the two will be looked at in this
essay. Concepts and theories influence political analysis through marginalising important aspects to be
considered within them, stretching definitions to allow concepts to reach beyond their limits and by
displaying biases through underlying assumptions. Nonetheless, this is not problematic as they allow

As reality is in fact quite complex these concepts allow us to shrink reality which reduces complexity
making it easier for us to analyse that which is being observed. This betters our understanding of
politics through allowing us to simplify the political world. This is done through creating categories
which make politics seem simpler to engage with and understand which shows us that concepts are in
fact not problematic but helpful when analysing.
However, this is not the case as when looking further it becomes clear that are a result of simplifying
there are certain implications. This is evident in Weber s concept of the ideal type which states that
concepts are created by putting forward the central feature of the phenomenon. This in turn
marginalises other features that play a part. It becomes problematic as politics is complicated and
intricate in its nature and requires every aspect to be explored. Concepts simply ignore the parts of the
political world which make politics political . Ultimately leading us to fail to investigate and explore
that which defines the political world. Wedeen explores this further when analysing Democracy in the
minimalist sense which constrains ourselves to simply a state level definition. Nevertheless, when

we are talking about everything that is external to an organism, all the biotic and abiotic. Nowadays it
also attempts to understand and explain the how and why of the origins and mechanisms of

Twilight Moms, By Stephenie Meyer s Twilight Books And...
Living in the United States in 2016, one is familiar with the fandom spurred from Stephenie Meyer s
Twilight books and the subsequent Twilight movies. Twilight Moms, a controversial sector of the
fandom composed of adult female fans, have garnered attention in recent years. One of the most well
known photographs of Twilight Moms captures the fans emotions at a 2009 Twilight Event (Buckner).
However, what strikes viewers most is not the emotions of the women, but rather their age; the
subjects of the image are not tweens and teens, but adult women. The visual rhetoric argues that
Twilight s appeal is not exclusive to young adults; it also encompasses older women. The media
claims that Twilight Moms are anti feminist women who refuse to grow up. However, the media s
biased accusations are simply not true. In all reality, Twilight Moms are a group of women that relate
to Twilight s protagonist and seek bonding experiences with their daughters as well as an escape from
the monotony of everyday life. So what exactly constitutes a Twilight Mom? The term Twilight Moms
was first coined in December of 2007 when Lisa Hansen launched the Twilight Moms MySpace page
(Brodesser akner). According to Hansen, she originally created Twilight Moms for married women
and mothers; however, that definition has since changed (Hare). Today, Twilight Moms is a more
inclusive group consisting of any female fan of Twilight beyond her teen years. Because Twilight

Safety In South Street Philadelphia
South Street Philadelphia s sidewalk s safety is not determined by the strangers shuffling in and out of
the area, but instead by the local residents and community members who live there. Based on my
personal observations, the biggest asset to South Street in regard to safety and overall quality of the
area are the locals who reside there. This idea of community investment relating to the safety of a
street is presented in Jane Jacob s novel The Death and Life of Great American Cities and is one of her
ideas that is accurately displayed throughout South Street. By examining the various ways people
interact in different areas and shops on South Street, I was able to evaluate what aspects of her writing
proved to be beneficial to the overall safety of the area.

However, the attitudes and mentalities of those eyes on the street directly affects their willingness to
keep it safe. Undoubtedly, South Street Philadelphia is a well populated area that generates hundreds
of tourists every day, whether it be through the allure of the various shops or the dozens of restaurants
and bars that reside there. The main downside to having these strangers present on the streets is the
fact that they have virtually no ties to the area. Due to the fact that many of these visitors have little to
no investment in the quality and safety of South Street, they play a seemingly small role in the safety
of the sidewalk. Sure, they provide extra eyes on the street, but if those eyes have little reason to care

Iroquois Indian Creation Myths
Creation Myth and legend
Let There Be Light , A saying used to illustrate the illumination, or beginning of something. Through
creation stories and myths, we can analyze, or have a better understanding of how past civilizations
may have looked at life, science, and nature. I will compare the similarities, and point out the
differences between the Greek culture, Christian/Jewish, and Iroquois Indian civilizations. How they
characterized the primordial, creation, and the gender gap through narrative. This gives us insight to
their societies values and beliefs at the time they were written. As discussed in class, and watched a
video of Alan Watts speaking about the concept of something from nothing, the term Tao says that
space and form go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Greek civilization suggest the Gender gap as being of a more strategic implication rather than a
gender viewpoint. The male having dominance over woman is a theme in Greek mythology, from sons
allying with mothers to defeat the fathers, to the rape of Persephone. As Homer and Hesiod describe
Hera as being second and subservient to her husband, using trickery to overcome Zeus plans.
Although the feminine does play an important role it is one of creation and nurturing. Likewise, in the
Genesis story, woman is created from man and is made to give him aid. After they had eaten of the
fruit from the tree of good and evil, God was as a parent and correcting, or punishing the children.
God said to Eve in Genesis 3:16 your desire will be for your husband and he shall rule over you.

How Far Do You Agree That Hitler’s Regime Was a ‘Consensus...
How far do you agree that Hitler s Regime was a consensus dictatorship ? A consensus dictatorship is
on that suggests Hitler s regime was surrounded by a general agreement. This would mean that the
majority of the German public were in cooperation with the Nazi regime and agreed with both the
enforced and promoted concept of the regime. Hitler had mainly achieved this by trying to win over
the hearts and minds of all non Jewish Germans this would mean he would have the majority of the
Germans citizens on his side. However, it is also suggested that many of the people had only
consented due to fear which can be inferred from source 5 that it was the methods of the Nazi
apparatus of terror that had led to the people conforming. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The public voluntarily had given in the names of Jews to the Nazis due to jealousy and terror imposed
on them by the Nazi s which suggests that the terror apparatus used on civilians was effective and the
public were forced to conform to the dictatorship but overall most people acted towards their own
benefit and the countless denunciations which included false accusations indicate that the regime was
a consensus dictatorship. On the other hand, the opposition faced by the Nazi regime is evidence that
the Nazi Regime was not a consented one. In Source 5 it mentions the political opponents being
detained in the concentration camps but even with this sort of mass terror of demolishing the left there
was signs of opposition against the regime. The fact that there were low level resistance jokes around
shows the Nazis were unpopular. People were trying to pick holes in the system rather than just accept
it. People were trying to spread the word. This also indicated the fear people had of Hitler and it was
this fear that forced the people to conform. The Church although having an agreement with Hitler
called the concordat had stood against the regime a number of times. For example, Bishop von Galen
of Munster had stood against the euthanasia programmes. There was also opposition from the youth,
an example the swing kids, they expressed their individuality by wearing their hair long and listened
to jazz. But most opposition and resistance was only involved

The changes that occur in the niche are more important than in stem cells themselves when it comes to
the failure of stem cell activity with aging. (Fowler, 2012)
Haematopoietic stem cells (HSC) regulate the turnover of platelets, erythrocytes and all immune cells
by changing between self renewal and differentiation to a variety of specialised cells. Osteoblasts has
a major role of secretion of mineralized bone matrix proteins and cells of the osteoblast lineage
regulating osteoclast differentiation. (Purton Scadden, 2008)
WNT signalling has a role in HSC regulation. Osteoblast specific overexpression of the WNT
inhibitor dickkopfhomolog 1 leads to impairment of HSC self renewal.
The expression of Notch1 and Notch2 in HSCs is shown to be important for their response to
endothelial derived maintenance factor.
Hedgehog signalling can cause the HSC expansion through the activation of bone morphogenetic
protein signalling pathways (Celso and Scadden 2011).
The JAK STAT pathway also regulates haematopoiesis in Drosophila. This pathway is a common
mechanism for niche signalling in somatic tissues. BMP signalling is required for the maintenance of
ES cells (Agosto, et al., 2007)

Alison Hargreaves Research Paper
In the history of mountaineering, there are those who fall through the cracks of history, and those who
outshine the sun itself. Alison Hargreaves was one of these astonishing people who set a new standard
in the climbing community. Born in England during the early 1960 s, Hargreaves mother was a
teacher, and father a scientist. By the time she was six she had already fallen in love with the outdoors
through her parent s hobby of hiking. Hargreaves was fortunate to live in the era she did. Due to the
cultural revolution in the 60s, while she was still a child, doors were opened for her that would have
been closed if she d been born a decade earlier. By the time she turned 13, Alison had been introduced
to rock climbing through climbing before school. A mere four years later Hargreaves left home to
pursue her passion full time. In a way Alison s decisions reflect the nature of the climbing community.
She easily could have gone into higher education, but turned it down to rather explore who she was
and get busy doing what she loved. She didn t waste time going with the flow, Alison was dedicated to
her personal life, and everything was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She took flack from those who did not know her, and from those that had not drive to accomplish
great things. Yet on the other hand, women have sent letters to Ballard saying that they envied
Hargraves personal ambition and achievement. The most important thing she could have done, and
accomplished, for her children is showing them how much she cared for them, and showing them that
hard work pays off. Alison Hargreave is an iconic figure for mountaineers. She exemplified the free
natured tendencies of the subculture and pushed her body to its limits. She is someone to be looked up
to for her raw determination and strength of will. Thankfully these are traits she passed on to her
children, along with love and respect for the sport of

First Movement of Beethoven s Symphony No. 3 Essay
First movement of Beethoven s symphony No. 3 Eroica Beethoven s Symphony No.3 also known as
the Eroica consists of four parts, namely, allegro con brio, adagio assai, scherzo and allegro, which is
the standard structure of a symphony. In this work, the analysis focuses on the first movement so as to
show how Beethoven enriched symphony. The first movement has a distinctive sonority and texture. It
is considerably long as it takes about 14 minutes (it may depend on the version). Some complete
symphonies from the classical period are about the same length as this first movement, so Beethoven s
work set aside from the traditional symphony. It tells other composers that there is no such thing as a
standard length of symphony s movement. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The resonant sound of brass generates some tension in the form of dissonant chords. The combination
of unusual sounds, vivid dynamics and rhythm changes, are incorporated in the symphony by
Beethoven. However there is more as the first movement goes on. Beethoven uses a minor key for a
short passage. The agitated sound of strings adds some tension and drama in the movement, which is
finally resolved by the woodwinds. The clarinet and flute return music to a major key and a state of
calm. The minor passage is a new concept which stands out the traditional symphony. It adds a
different texture that clearly departs from the leading motive. This brief minor passage is also repeated
so it may be thought of as a second motive. Another striking quality of this first movement is the use
of a set of chords played by the whole orchestra. It serves as a bridge to connect the major and minor
motives. Towards the end of the first movement, there is a brief passage embellished by the strings
while the horns and trumpets remind us the sounds of the leading motive. The lively sound is
interrupted by a brief minor passage. Then, the leading motive is repeated by the clarinet and flute.
Strong and bright sounds prepare the audience to the conclusion of the first movement. One can
conclude that Beethoven s unique expressiveness and passion are reflected in every note of the Eroica
s first

How Did Palladio Influence Architecture
Palladio s influence on architects and recognition
Architectural community as well as public sees Palladio s work as attractive mainly because of the
sheer beauty of his architecture. Beauty that does not have to be explained nor justified. Palladio is
often labelled as the most influential architect in history mainly due to his dominance in architectural
development from Renaissance until present day (Scruton, 2013). Many tried to directly imitate his
work however only Palladio could benefit from prestige on a scale he has received, mostly because he
was the first European architect who worked out many variations on a basic theme to build separate
structures and on his own. Some buildings, built with symmetry in accordance with Palladio, however

His work is often recognised as work around geometrical rules. It s about tight and tidy synthesis
whilst using workable and logical grammar. There are ongoing discussions on what the rules may be
as he only ever described a few, but nonetheless they imply he had an extraordinary mind. Like many
influential artists, Palladio has measured, calculated, mirrored and counted to execute perfection
(Tavernor, 2005). Palladio s plans and facades are hypothesised to be ideal, harmonic. This ideal is
reached by an assembly of ideal shapes and dimensions, whilst taking into an account that some
numbers are more noble in Renaissance than others (Hersey and Freedman, 1992). He used
mathematical tools as devices whilst working on his designs. In order to appreciate his work fully, the
concept of symmetry and proportion is to be viewed as the key to understanding. Palladio s work was
inspired by Roman times, although build with nature in mind. The buildings are regarded as an
exercise in pure form rather than models of themselves, they fulfilled and embodied the ideal and
harmony of the magnificence own to upper class. The high class life in Palladio s buildings became a
standard and was not viewed as anything peculiar or out of place. The reason why this way of life was
widely accepted was that Italy in 16th century was not spiritual nor moral, it was political and

  • 2. How Does Memory Affect The Development Of Middle Childhood With each growing year a child s vocabulary increases. By the time children are six years old, they have become proficient at the knowledge of basic grammar and vocabulary of their main language. By this age group, children are speaking parts of speech such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives. They are capable of learning up to twenty words a day and they become more flexible and logical. Children can comprehend prefixes, suffixes, metaphors, and other figures of speech. Because children can now understand and use metaphors, it becomes easier for them to reveal and express their emotions. The best way for children to learn most of their vocabulary is through their family and friends. Middle age children tend to learn best when in an environment with their friends and family not in a class. During middle childhood memory plays a large part in the child s developing and learning. Also, memory improves significantly during this time period. At this age, all stages of memory are affected by the development and experience of the child. Sensory memory, which is the first element of memory, which improves slightly until the child reaches approximately ten years old, and then remains sufficient until adulthood. Working memory improves steadily and significantly. Working memory improves the most once in middle childhood because children of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If that task or goal is not successfully done then the child can use more cognitive brain power to figure out how they can improve it. Their ability to do this will help them in many situations from academic to social and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Herbal And Dietary Supplement Market INTRODUCTION Nutraceutical, a term derived from the words nutrition and pharmaceutical refers to food or a constituent of the food which has been scientifically proven to provide health and therapeutic benefits such as the prevention and treatment of a disease. The term was formulated by Dr Stephen de Felice in 1989. Nutraceuticals have a role in maintaining and improving the wellbeing and health of an individual as well as regulating immunity. Consequently preventing and treating particular diseases (Chauhan et a.l, 2013). Nutraceuticals are found in a diverse group of products coming forth from the food industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the herbal and dietary supplement market. They are present in most of the food ingredients with varying concentration. A diet rich in these along with regular exercise, stress reduction and maintainance of healthy body weight will maximize health and reduce disease risks (Chaturvedi et al., 2011). Nutraceuticals are on demand because medical science is now realising the importance of food in treatment and prevention of diseases since regular consumption of synthetic drugs sometimes cause organ failure and so many other effects. Again, consumers have the belief that food like substances are either harmless or less toxic as compared to conventional drugs, furthermore nutraceuticals are cheaper and are safe with regards to avoiding the side effects associated with drugs (Tapans et al., 2008). • 5. How Does Henry Fleming Show Courage Throughout history , we find courage weaving itself into the souls of remarkable people. A Soldier shows courage by sacrificing his/her life for their comrades and their cause. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines Courage as the quality of mind and spirit as one has in the face of peril and fear . Henry Fleming was naive, and a coward, but in the end, his mind and his spirit grew strong. As he exposed himself to the gruesome side of war, he fulfilled the definition of the term courage by making mistakes, learning to not overthink and misjudge, and by showing that love to one s home can be the necessary inspiration to go down fighting. Henry finally flourishes from a boy to an American courageous man. Fleming visualized war as a spotlight that would shine upon him. Fleming believed in honor; not in the sense of fighting for what s right, (at first) but fighting for a reputation. He left his home, his mother, and his boyhood to chase after a gilded future that would not come easy. Henry entered the army with the wrong image on fighting, and remotely mused on the aspects of what came with war. Considering the definition of courage, Henry did not start off with a strong quality of mind and endurance. His spirit was childish, and, as said previously, quite naive. Fleming strutted to the war with the hopes of fame and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As described in the text, the trees seemed to be murmuring and moving out of his way . For Freud, it s important to understand that Infant and waking life were full of emotions, drives, wishes, traumas, aggression, sex, and experiences that our mind could not consciously handle and that loaded psychic material could not regularly be repressed or barried in the unconscious. He once quoted, There is, in fact, no better analogy for repression, by which something in the mind is at once made inaccessible and preserved than burial of the sort to which Pompeii fell a victim and from which it could emerge once more through the work of spades Freud The Problem is that during the night there is less automatic repression. • 7. Kant, The Rallying Call For Kant s Enlightenment Sapere aude! is the rallying call for Kant s enlightenment. Translated, it roughly means dare to be wise. Plato, through the voice of Socrates in the dialogues The Euthyphro and The Crito, demonstrates the ultimate example of Kant s definition of enlightenment. Socrates fearlessly dares to be wise. In 1784, Immanuel Kant wrote a groundbreaking essay addressing a question posed by Reverend Johann Zollner. The essay was entitled What is Enlightenment . Within this essay, Kant defines what enlightenment. Kant gives a very basic answer to the question what is enlightenment? in the very first sentence of the essay. Kant very directly states, Enlightenment is man s release from his self incurred tutelage (Kant, 1). This means that man prevents themselves from reaching enlightenment by allowing themselves to stay in a state of immature tutelage or intellectual dependence on others. Kant continued to explain how easy it truly is to remain in tutelage. Kant expressed If I have a book, which understands for me, a pastor who has a conscience for me, a physician who decides my diet, and so forth, I need not trouble myself. I need not think... (Kant, 1) It is once a person liberates themselves from the bonds of immaturity and begins to make their own judgments and conjure up their own ideas that a person is actually enlightened. Not only does Kant explain what it means to be enlightened, but Kant describes all the different requirements for enlightenment to be achieved. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Deprivation In Middle School Holding a grudge against someone would sometimes make situations worse than they already are. In middle school, I had a friend who did not have a lot of materialistic things everyone else had, clothes, shoes or jewelry, a fancy cell phone. Sometimes you would see her wearing the same shirts. A lot of people would say she used to steal from friends or clothing stores or from grocery stores, in general, I would have to say this lesson taught me a lot. You never know what someone is going through. it is better to forget than to forgive well I beg to differ. On the first day of school Michele sat beside me in Economics class I noticed she did not have any of her things. No books, pencils, pens, a notepad, she just did not have anything it was just her. In my head, I started thinking oh she s one of those students that comes to class unprepared and expects to copy off everyone s paper well she was not copying off mine. Class started and she asked for a pencil, I was going to give her one of my mechanical pencils but I knew I was not going to get it back so I gave her one of those wooden pencils that no one uses they were just sitting in my pencil pouch taking up space anyway so why not? To my surprise, she did her work but she never turned it in for some strange odd reason though. We were doing a group assignment but we were required to have our own answers I would check her answers from time to time and they were all correct, one day the teacher pulled me aside and asked ... • 11. Sarcoplasmic Reticulum Essay Sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) play s a critical role in the function of contraction and relaxation of the muscle (John Wiley and Sons, 2003). It provides the ability to control and balance the amount of calcium being released/uptake and for storage (John Sons, 2003). There is a correlation between defects in calcium transport by SR and the ability for the heart to function (Alpert, Arai, MacLennan, and Periasamy, 1993). By alternating the gene expression that encodes SR proteins, it will show if the abnormalities in calcium uptake and release has a association with heat failure (Alpert et al., 1993). Wherefore, there were many different Indian tribes that existed in this place whom spoke different languages, practiced different customs, and used different techniques in raising their own crops and hunting livestock. It was a mix of people who were better at farming while others were better at agricultural activities. Some people involved in war while some did not. As I understand and analyze the historical events which transpired through time, the native Americans did not have a good relationship with the Europeans. One can see that the latter were not very sensitive with the culture of the native Americans while, on the other note, these Europeans came from a then more modernized country as the native Americans saw them as a group of people with enough weapons or guns that is useful to them. Also, Indians were able to provide food for these foreigners. At first, they traded well with each other in terms that both groups had benefits from one another. However, towards the end, when there was already an imbalance with the animals that were being hunted as food and the crops that were raised for agricultural purposes, the English people started drawing boundaries on territories. Soon after, Indians started competing amongst themselves just to find a suitable land for hunting and agriculture. The pattern that I see here is the continuous dependency of Europeans on the land, resources, and means of shelter from the Native Americans. The pattern also evolves on the notion of Europeans to turn this new discovery and utilize this connection for trade and commerce of their interests with another country or countries as well. In the end, both groups were able to trade with each other that left Virginia having the Charter of the Virginia Company of London. This company, however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Six Principals Of Persuasion Six Principals of Persuasion To run a successful business there are many qualities a person needs to have. Some things are inherently given such as charm and good looks. There are also qualities than can be learned like the art of being an eloquent speaker or how to be a persuasive speaker. The art of persuasion can be delicate, you aim is to persuade you audience not to manipulate them. It is very important not to confuse the two. On the one hand you are using facts to convey your point on the other you are attempting to play on the emotions of your audience. Robert Cialdini explains it best with his six principals of persuasion. The Principal of Reciprocity is the first of Robert Cialdini s principals of persuasion. Reciprocity simply means a mutual exchange of privileges (Merriam Webster. n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This principal teaches you how the clients appreciate commitment and consistency but also how you can get commitment and consistency from your client. All you have to do is provide a timely and consistent product or service and your part is done. To get your client to keep coming back to you, there are a few things you can ask of them such as something small like writing a review of your services, or rewarding them for their loyalty to your company. By getting your customer to write a review, you are already helping yourself with the next principal of persuasion. Fifth, we have the Principal of Consensus. It is true that people follow the path of least resistance and have a pack mentality. One of the first things people do before they decide to buy a product is to read the customer reviews. If majority of the people like it then it is more likely that they will buy it. Celebrity endorsements and personal testimonials are some of the most effective ways to persuade you audience. Richardson produced, directed and captured all the footage himself. The end result is a multitude of powerful one on one interviews, archival footage of patients, and candid long takes. Richardson cuts himself out of the interviews, and edits together strikingly frank sound bytes to showcase his subjects talking about death and the affect of the law. His use of archival footage primarily captures his patients when they were healthy, and provides a striking contrast as they seriously discuss death towards the end of their lives. His use of candid long takes captures some of the most poignant moments of the film, including the final minutes of one man s life after taking the lethal drugs. The camera is a spectator in the room, as the man accompanied by his family; all face his personal decision to die together. All of these different footage types work together to provide emotional weight to an already troubling subject. 2) Richardson s non interventionist style is a prime example of observational documentary, and works specifically well in capturing and promulgating the subject of death. According to Nichols, observational documentaries started appearing in the 1960 s as result of more mobile and smaller equipment. Capitalism is the most central and consequential topic which has to do with business. The ideals of capitalism, over time, have faced much scrutiny. Many great minds within the past two centuries have discredited capitalism, for the virtues of socialism and the whole of society. It is my intent to put forth a moral justification of the ideals behind capitalism. Many economists have debated that capitalism is practical because it allows each individual to align their actions with their own thoughts, instead of acting under the demands of bureaucrats. A multitude of minds attack each problem under capitalism. The successful thinkers thrive because they are able to see the opportunities that the other thinkers do not. They think of new products and come up with more efficient production methods which are innovative to their field. Everyone is able to begin a business, raise money, and market his own product in a free market, and each individual thinker is free to use his own ideas, and his success or failure is based on the merits of his own idea. The successful thinker brings improved and new products at a lower cost which creates economic advance and opulence. • 40. Twilight Moms, By Stephenie Meyer s Twilight Books And... Living in the United States in 2016, one is familiar with the fandom spurred from Stephenie Meyer s Twilight books and the subsequent Twilight movies. Twilight Moms, a controversial sector of the fandom composed of adult female fans, have garnered attention in recent years. One of the most well known photographs of Twilight Moms captures the fans emotions at a 2009 Twilight Event (Buckner). However, what strikes viewers most is not the emotions of the women, but rather their age; the subjects of the image are not tweens and teens, but adult women. The visual rhetoric argues that Twilight s appeal is not exclusive to young adults; it also encompasses older women. The media claims that Twilight Moms are anti feminist women who refuse to grow up. However, the media s biased accusations are simply not true. In all reality, Twilight Moms are a group of women that relate to Twilight s protagonist and seek bonding experiences with their daughters as well as an escape from the monotony of everyday life. So what exactly constitutes a Twilight Mom? The term Twilight Moms was first coined in December of 2007 when Lisa Hansen launched the Twilight Moms MySpace page (Brodesser akner). According to Hansen, she originally created Twilight Moms for married women and mothers; however, that definition has since changed (Hare). Today, Twilight Moms is a more inclusive group consisting of any female fan of Twilight beyond her teen years. Because Twilight Moms are grown women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Safety In South Street Philadelphia South Street Philadelphia s sidewalk s safety is not determined by the strangers shuffling in and out of the area, but instead by the local residents and community members who live there. Based on my personal observations, the biggest asset to South Street in regard to safety and overall quality of the area are the locals who reside there. This idea of community investment relating to the safety of a street is presented in Jane Jacob s novel The Death and Life of Great American Cities and is one of her ideas that is accurately displayed throughout South Street. By examining the various ways people interact in different areas and shops on South Street, I was able to evaluate what aspects of her writing proved to be beneficial to the overall safety of the area. However, the attitudes and mentalities of those eyes on the street directly affects their willingness to keep it safe. Undoubtedly, South Street Philadelphia is a well populated area that generates hundreds of tourists every day, whether it be through the allure of the various shops or the dozens of restaurants and bars that reside there. The main downside to having these strangers present on the streets is the fact that they have virtually no ties to the area. Due to the fact that many of these visitors have little to no investment in the quality and safety of South Street, they play a seemingly small role in the safety of the sidewalk. Sure, they provide extra eyes on the street, but if those eyes have little reason to care about the street itself, how beneficial can they really be? Jacobs even states herself, Bars, and indeed all commerce, have a bad name ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through creation stories and myths, we can analyze, or have a better understanding of how past civilizations may have looked at life, science, and nature. I will compare the similarities, and point out the differences between the Greek culture, Christian/Jewish, and Iroquois Indian civilizations. How they characterized the primordial, creation, and the gender gap through narrative. This gives us insight to their societies values and beliefs at the time they were written. The Greek civilization suggest the Gender gap as being of a more strategic implication rather than a gender viewpoint. The male having dominance over woman is a theme in Greek mythology, from sons allying with mothers to defeat the fathers, to the rape of Persephone. As Homer and Hesiod describe Hera as being second and subservient to her husband, using trickery to overcome Zeus plans. Although the feminine does play an important role it is one of creation and nurturing. Likewise, in the Genesis story, woman is created from man and is made to give him aid. After they had eaten of the fruit from the tree of good and evil, God was as a parent and correcting, or punishing the children. A consensus dictatorship is on that suggests Hitler s regime was surrounded by a general agreement. This would mean that the majority of the German public were in cooperation with the Nazi regime and agreed with both the enforced and promoted concept of the regime. Hitler had mainly achieved this by trying to win over the hearts and minds of all non Jewish Germans this would mean he would have the majority of the Germans citizens on his side. However, it is also suggested that many of the people had only consented due to fear which can be inferred from source 5 that it was the methods of the Nazi apparatus of terror that had led to the people conforming. ... The public voluntarily had given in the names of Jews to the Nazis due to jealousy and terror imposed on them by the Nazi s which suggests that the terror apparatus used on civilians was effective and the public were forced to conform to the dictatorship but overall most people acted towards their own benefit and the countless denunciations which included false accusations indicate that the regime was a consensus dictatorship. On the other hand, the opposition faced by the Nazi regime is evidence that the Nazi Regime was not a consented one. In Source 5 it mentions the political opponents being detained in the concentration camps but even with this sort of mass terror of demolishing the left there was signs of opposition against the regime. The fact that there were low level resistance jokes around shows the Nazis were unpopular. People were trying to pick holes in the system rather than just accept it. People were trying to spread the word. This also indicated the fear people had of Hitler and it was this fear that forced the people to conform. The Church although having an agreement with Hitler called the concordat had stood against the regime a number of times. For example, Bishop von Galen of Munster had stood against the euthanasia programmes. There was also opposition from the youth, an example the swing kids, they expressed their individuality by wearing their hair long and listened to jazz. (Fowler, 2012) Haematopoietic stem cells (HSC) regulate the turnover of platelets, erythrocytes and all immune cells by changing between self renewal and differentiation to a variety of specialised cells. Osteoblasts has a major role of secretion of mineralized bone matrix proteins and cells of the osteoblast lineage regulating osteoclast differentiation. (Purton Scadden, 2008) WNT signalling has a role in HSC regulation. Osteoblast specific overexpression of the WNT inhibitor dickkopfhomolog 1 leads to impairment of HSC self renewal. The expression of Notch1 and Notch2 in HSCs is shown to be important for their response to endothelial derived maintenance factor. Hedgehog signalling can cause the HSC expansion through the activation of bone morphogenetic protein signalling pathways (Celso and Scadden 2011). The JAK STAT pathway also regulates haematopoiesis in Drosophila. This pathway is a common mechanism for niche signalling in somatic tissues. BMP signalling is required for the maintenance of ES cells (Agosto, et al., 2007) 225 3. ES and iPS cells are both pluripotent stem cells but are obtained in different ways. First Movement of Beethoven s Symphony No. 3 Essay First movement of Beethoven s symphony No. 3 Eroica Beethoven s Symphony No.3 also known as the Eroica consists of four parts, namely, allegro con brio, adagio assai, scherzo and allegro, which is the standard structure of a symphony. In this work, the analysis focuses on the first movement so as to show how Beethoven enriched symphony. The first movement has a distinctive sonority and texture. It is considerably long as it takes about 14 minutes (it may depend on the version). Some complete symphonies from the classical period are about the same length as this first movement, so Beethoven s work set aside from the traditional symphony. It tells other composers that there is no such thing as a standard length of symphony s movement. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The resonant sound of brass generates some tension in the form of dissonant chords. The combination of unusual sounds, vivid dynamics and rhythm changes, are incorporated in the symphony by Beethoven. However there is more as the first movement goes on. Beethoven uses a minor key for a short passage. The agitated sound of strings adds some tension and drama in the movement, which is finally resolved by the woodwinds. The clarinet and flute return music to a major key and a state of calm. The minor passage is a new concept which stands out the traditional symphony. It adds a different texture that clearly departs from the leading motive. This brief minor passage is also repeated so it may be thought of as a second motive. Another striking quality of this first movement is the use of a set of chords played by the whole orchestra. It serves as a bridge to connect the major and minor motives. Towards the end of the first movement, there is a brief passage embellished by the strings while the horns and trumpets remind us the sounds of the leading motive. The lively sound is interrupted by a brief minor passage. Then, the leading motive is repeated by the clarinet and flute. Strong and bright sounds prepare the audience to the conclusion of the first movement. One can conclude that Beethoven s unique expressiveness and passion are reflected in every note of the Eroica s first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Did Palladio Influence Architecture Palladio s influence on architects and recognition Architectural community as well as public sees Palladio s work as attractive mainly because of the sheer beauty of his architecture. Beauty that does not have to be explained nor justified. Palladio is often labelled as the most influential architect in history mainly due to his dominance in architectural development from Renaissance until present day (Scruton, 2013). Many tried to directly imitate his work however only Palladio could benefit from prestige on a scale he has received, mostly because he was the first European architect who worked out many variations on a basic theme to build separate structures and on his own. It s about tight and tidy synthesis whilst using workable and logical grammar. There are ongoing discussions on what the rules may be as he only ever described a few, but nonetheless they imply he had an extraordinary mind. Like many influential artists, Palladio has measured, calculated, mirrored and counted to execute perfection (Tavernor, 2005). Palladio s plans and facades are hypothesised to be ideal, harmonic. This ideal is reached by an assembly of ideal shapes and dimensions, whilst taking into an account that some numbers are more noble in Renaissance than others (Hersey and Freedman, 1992). He used mathematical tools as devices whilst working on his designs. In order to appreciate his work fully, the concept of symmetry and proportion is to be viewed as the key to understanding. Palladio s work was inspired by Roman times, although build with nature in mind. The buildings are regarded as an exercise in pure form rather than models of themselves, they fulfilled and embodied the ideal and harmony of the magnificence own to upper class. The high class life in Palladio s buildings became a standard and was not viewed as anything peculiar or out of place. The reason why this way of life was widely accepted was that Italy in 16th century was not spiritual nor moral, it was political and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
