The Song Analysis Of It s Quiet Uptown
It s Quiet Uptown spans the range of emotions one feels upon the loss of a loved one. Grief, anger,
depression, and guilt are all expressed through the lyrics. While the original number describes
Alexander Hamilton s move to Harlem after the death of his son during a duel (Pittsburgh Post
Gazette), the powerful imagery that is portrayed and the emotions that are conveyed are relatable to
anyone who has experienced loss. The piece serves a ritualistic function it takes us into grief, and then
it takes us out of it, as Oskar Eustis told the New York Times. It s Quiet Uptown is useful as an aid to
those who are grieving and the ones who are supporting the bereaved.
Listening to Kelly Clarkson sing It s Quiet Uptown is heart wrenching; she conveys so much emotion
with her voice that it compounds the meaning of the words. She was pregnant with her own son when
she was asked to cover the song for the Hamilton Mixtape, and she put emotion about the
unimaginable idea of losing a child into her rendition of it (Dinh). Although she changed a few words
to make the song more her own, Clarkson held true to the original message of the song. In both
Clarkson s rendition and the original version, the instrumental accompaniment is minimal. Soft piano
chords play slowly beneath the singer. Occasionally violin adds a somber line or two. During the
refrain, a steady, soft drumbeat accompanies the piano and vocals. Throughout most of It s Quiet
Uptown , the tempo is

Why Ipv6 May Be Adopted Later Rather Than Sooner
By this report I would like to explain the reasons for why IPV6 may be adopted later rather than
sooner. This report provides an information about what is IP, brief background on next version of IP,
IPv6. A review of the differences between IPv4 and IPV6, transition to ipv6, the features and benefits
of IPv6,barriers of IPV6,what are the risks will occur while moving to IPV6 from IPV4.
(IP)Internet Protocol:
The Internet Protocol (IP) is the most broadly utilized protocol as a part of web communications
because of its consistent communication technology . such a variety of individuals are relying upon
the protocol, because of the security examinations the IP got numerous patches and modification as it
has been sent comprehensively.
The present utilizing IP forms are IPv4 and IPv6 .Due to a few limitations of IPv4, IPv6 was created
IPV4 Limitations :
The principle purpose behind IPV4 tiredness arrives are more number of web clients and this number
is expanding day by day ,obviously the cell phones which are utilizing web connections are
additionally expanding excessively .
Most of the present IPv4 usage must be configured either physically or utilizing a Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol (DHCP). so there is a requirement for straightforward and more programmed
designs because of more PCs and devices utilizing IP.
At the Internet layer there is a prerequisite of extra security solution (IPv6 features concepts and
configurations) so all the above limitations of

The Issue Of Today s Society
Seminar Paper (Entangled) Introduction There is no denying consumerism has become an issue of
today s society. People are consuming more than they ever have before. Because of it material culture
has become an increasing area of study. Material culture is described as the relationship between
people and their material things. People are owning more stuff which is leading to major problems.
The mass consumptions of these goods has a negative impact on the planet. It takes lots of energy and
resources to produce a product, thus takes a negative toll on the planet. Rainforest are cut down, habits
are destroyed, global warming increases, waste and toxic gases have increased, animals are killed, and
people are displaced. The people in marginalized communities and third world countries are the ones
that are affected the most. People are employed in horrible conditions, and paid horrendous salaries by
these huge corporations profiting on the exploitation of these people, while profiting tremendously
from the boom in consumer goods. Not only have people of western societies but people around the
world are craving and desiring consumer goods. What is being consumed at an alarming rate is
technology. With the technological boom and technological advances at an alarming rate has led to
people purchasing such products. Because technology has become so globalize and so easy to acquire
at a price that is accessible by most, it has led to an increase in sales and production

Why We Shouldn T Go To Mars Essay
Two centuries ago, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark left St. Louis to explore the new lands
acquired in the Louisiana Purchase, They made that journey in the spirit of discovery. . . . America has
ventured forth into space for the same reasons. George W. Bush said. Although a remarkable
comparison, exploring space and exploring a new part of the continent are very different. Lewis and
Clark were certain that there was life on the continent whereas, space is a completely different frontier.

In the text, Why We Shouldn t Go To Mars by Gregg Easterbrook, it states, If new launch systems
could put weight into orbit affordably, and if advanced propulsion could speed up that long, slow
transit to Mars, then the dream of stepping onto the Red Planet might become reality. Mars will still be
there when the technology is ready. (973) This articulates that humans do not have enough technology
right now to study space and scientists should spend some time researching on what technology is best
instead of rushing and finding technology to study space immediately. Likewise, Mars is not going to
disappear if researchers spend the time to gather information that is beneficial. By researching, one
can have a better idea of what Mars would be like when astronauts explore it in the future. On the
contrary, those in favor of space exploration may say that if scientists take the time to collect
information about space, the Earth will overpopulate even before astronauts have the time to explore
Mars. However, if researchers try to explore Mars right now, it would not be successful due to the fact
that humans do not have the necessary technology that is needed to fulfill this intention. All in all, for
humans to inhabit Mars, technology will have to be more advanced to reach this

Research And Development ( R D ) And Acquisitions
Research and development (R D) and acquisitions are a firm s core areas for innovation, which sets
the stage for its ability to compete in the market based on what cutting edge technology or ideas the
company has gathered. Accordingly, globalization and increased competition has led companies to
become more efficient and reevaluate whether to outsource R D or to innovate in house. When opting
to outsource, companies should look at their organization at a functional level, and identify the
processes and tasks in order to identify opportunities that can be gained from outsourcing versus
developing in house. Additionally, companies should focus not on where the innovation occurs, but
rather who will ultimately have control of the final ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Efficiency of a company turns on being able to produce in the shortest amount of time while
maintaining quality. Thus, outsourcing allows a company to be efficient where in house the same task
could not be accomplished in a reasonable amount of time.
Opting to outsource R D is also a good business strategy when the skillset is not found within the
organization. No matter how talented a company is, it simply cannot possess all the talent and
innovation under one roof. Thus, outsourcing R D allows companies to utilize talent pools from all
over the world. Companies may even outsource within their own country by hiring contractors or
freelancers. For example, in order to stay competitive, technology companies simply do not have the
time to conduct in house R D. Instead, it is more efficient to outsource or acquire unique technologies
of other companies to expand their technology portfolio relatively quickly and align itself with
talented people. For example, Yahoo, Inc., an internet search engine tool, acquired Flickr, a photo
sharing site a completely different component than its own. Acquisitions give companies the ability to
acquire a product that is already created; access to a talent pool that has experience employing the
technology; and a market that is familiar with the product. Acquisition is also a strategic way to
eliminate a competitor and become an active player in the competitive market rather than

The Us Treasury Yield Curve
Discuss and evaluate the major theories evaluating the shape of the yield curve. In your answer also
discuss the uses of the yield curve in financial markets, why strips are used in the construction of yield
curves and why investors would want to invest in zero coupon bonds or strips.
The yield curve is a graph that plots the yields of similar quality bonds against their maturities,
ranging from shortest to longest. The relationship between yield and maturity is referred to as the term
structure of interest rates. The Treasury yield curve is the base or benchmark for pricing bonds and
setting yields in other areas of the debt market. Moreover, the shape of the yield curve is constructed
from U.S Treasury strips which are zero coupon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there is no explanation for inverted or flat curves in this theory.
The market segmentation theory however, suggests that s there are two distinct markets for short and
long term bonds. The demand and supply in the long term bond market is the determinant of long term
yields whereas, the demand and supply in the short term bond market is the determinant of short term
rates. Under this theory, it is implied that the future interest rates have very little to do with the shape
of the Treasury yield curve. With a greater demand for shorter maturity T bills relative to T bonds, the
yield curve would typically be upward sloping. However, this theory doesn t explain why interest rates
on various maturities have positive correlations.
Lastly, the preferred habitat theory which is a hybrid of the three aforementioned theories, reject the
view that the risk premium must rise uniformly with maturity. Therefore this theory assumes that
investors who seek liquidity tend to prefer the short part of the Treasury curve. However, as a result of
the demand for short term T bills being greater than long term T bonds there is an upward slope in the
Treasury yield curve. In essence, this theory further modifies the market segmentation theory by
implying that investors will switch from their preferred bond markets if premiums are adequate.
Yield curves are used in financial markets as a measure of

1. What are the relationships among Earth s mantle, crust, asthenosphere, and lithosphere?
The lithosphere is basically the strong outer shell of earth. It is roughly 100km thick depending on its
age, and is broken into plates, known as the tectonic plates. Within the lithosphere is the crust as a
portion of the upper mantle.
The crust is the outer most portion of the earth and takes up less than 1% than the total volume of the
earth. It is commonly compared to the skin of an apple, whereas the apple represents the earth. The
temperature of the crust varies from the air on top, to upward of 1600 at the deepest parts. The tectonic
plates are part of the crust of the earth, moving and shifting on the softer mantle or ... Show more

Thanks to static electricity ice, dirt, rocks and other grains of solid material slowly began to gather
together forming bigger pieces, those pieces formed bigger pieces, having a snowball effect. They
eventually became big enough to have their own gravitational field which then collected more
material, eventually creating a planet. More material meant more mass, which gave the forming planet
even more gravity. With tons and tons of material, and gravity pushing it together, intense pressure
causes intense heat. This combination of pressure and heat gives the earth its molten interior.
The Jovian (gas) planets formed by a similar process but with less solid materials and with much more
gas that was blown further out by the solar winds. Jupiter and the rest of the gas giant probably
contain a solid core, of rock and other metals. Although none of the gas planets have a solid surface
like we do on earth, only a thicker and thicker atmosphere until reaching the core. It s important to
note, that because Jupiter is so large (317 times the mass of the earth, 1321 times bigger by volume),
and has such large pressure on the interior, elements found as gases on earth could possibly be a solid
or vice versa. For example, metallic hydrogen (which is a state where hydrogen behaves as an
electrical conductor) is only still a theory since we are unable to create the pressures needed here on
earth. Metallic hydrogen is known as the Holy Grail in high pressure physics.

Imperialism In King Leopold s Ghost
In Adam Hoschild s book, King Leopold s Ghost, readers are told of the brutal and unrelenting spirit
of King Leopold II as he colonizes Congo in the effort to build fortune and power in the name of
humanit. Hoschild s goal in the writing of this book is to display the horrors of forced labor during
Leopold s rule over the Congo and to display the negative consequences of imperialism.
Throughout this novel we see Leopold s secrecy as he convinces hundreds of people of his pure
intentions to create an area of free trade and prosperity of the African people. He did this by holding
conferences such as the Geographical Conference. There he explained his fictitious aspiration for the
abolishment of the slave trade and for peace in Africa. This colonial ... Show more content on

We have seen through lectures and through this book the dangers of imperialism. The use of indirect
leaders leads to very little reprentation in government and therefore not a whole lot of say for those
who are being colonized. We see the negative consequences of Imperialism very stated in colonial
India.
Leopold claimed he was doing all of these things for the good of the African people. He even said that
he was saving them from Arab slaves traders. It is also important to remember this period in history
because this story brings the chilling question of human nature into the forefront of minds. Are
humans at heart good or evil? Life is not black or while, and we see this displayed throughout the
book. While Leopold and his counterparts may have ensued appalling brutality into the lives of
millions of Africans, there were many people coming up behind them ready and willing to stand up for
the humanitarian rights of the abused. They were there to say that every human being has a right to be
treated as such. These people also led to the first human rights movement of the 20th century.

Habits of the Mind
Habits of Mind The habits of mind might better be termed the habits of a perfected mind since most
have not acquired all of these habits. The two selected for this paper are persistence and precision.
Both are difficult to embed because they require disciple and mental toughness. This paper discusses
the connection between the two and how they can be defeated if a student is distracted from them.
Persistence and precision are habits of mind that require many of the same skills to acquire.
Persistence is defined as sticking to a task until it is completed (Costa Kallick, 2008). It is the ability
to fail and to continue pressing towards a goal despite continuous rejection of the effort. People who
have this trait are not afraid of the outcome of a single endeavor, but press on until they are successful.
Having precision of language and thought is striving to communicate accurately in both written and
oral form, taking care to use precise language; defining terms; and using correct names, labels and
analogies (Costa Kallick, 2008). This ability is fostered by a mind that wants to ensure that it is
communicating thoughts clearly so that they are not misunderstood. It is also a skill that takes a great
deal of determination and discipline to perfect. These two skills can be innate, in a very few people,
but by the majority they are acquired (Watts, 2012). Thinking clearly is the first step to
communicating clearly, and this leads to the ability to accomplish tasks. A

someone can define it in a positive way where others in a negative way. According to the Merriam

money. The reality is whoever you ask would have different meanings for work according to the
experience that they had. For example, a worker would love and enjoy work if they are being paid

Chief Master Sergeant Paul W. Airey Essay
Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy Introduction There are many types of leaders
not only in the military, but also in every civilian company around the world. We rarely see a leader

Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, was this type of leader. Throughout this paper I will discuss
his ability to be both a visionary and ethical leader, which resulted in CMSgt Airey being labeled a

CMSgt Airey used his leadership ability to address the low retention rates of first term Airmen, which
was at a 12 year low (Lucas, 1997). As a visionary leader he understood that it was not just the war in
Vietnam that was to blame for the low retention (Lucas, 1997). He realized that the promotion system
was broken and he set his sites on developing a system that would improve promotion opportunities
for every Airman (Lucas, 1997). Many would say that this was the most influential contribution he
made during his tenure. CMSgt Airey led a team from several career fields. He understood and used
the Z process according to Thomas N. Barnes Center (2012a) team building when he met with his
team (p.6 8). The teams use and understanding according to Thomas N. Barnes Center (2012a) change

which today is still in effect and is by far the fairest, most equitable enlisted promotion system of any
of the armed forces (Lucas, 1997, p3). Furthermore, CMSgt Airey understood that you could not have

The Fate of Women in The Birthmark Essay
The Fate of Women in The Birthmark
Wilson Sullivan in Nathaniel Hawthorne in New England Men of Letters states that Nathaniel
Hawthorne s tale, The Birthmark, depicts the efforts of a deranged scientist to obtain total perfection
in his wife by removal of a facial blemish. In this story the scientist operates on the superficial level of
the physical world, while the woman, the truly heroic woman, functions on the level of the heart and
soul, the more significant level. She it is who in her virtue provides for the reader an example to live
by, even though she loses her life in the process. This essay hopes to explore the status, role, attitude
toward women and other such issues.

The wife s virtue leads her onward and upward; the husband s lack thereof and inability to appreciate
virtue in his Georgiana leads him downward and downward.
Even after Aylmer has persuaded a beautiful woman to become his wife, he is not capable of loving
her properly, unselfishly, because he had devoted himself, however, too unreservedly to scientific
studies ever to be weaned from them by any second passion. The narrator seeks to justify this error or
lack in Aylmer by explaining that it was not unusual for the love of science to rival the love of woman
in its depth and absorbing energy. Already at the outset of the tale, the reader perceives that Georgiana
is going to be shortchanged in this marriage. She is exposed to the problem initially when her husband
asks whether it never occurred to you that the mark upon your cheek might be removed? Aylmer is in
quest of physical perfection in his wife; unfortunately he discounts her inner, spiritual value so clearly
manifested in her comment: ``To tell you the truth it has been so often called a charm that I was
simple enough to imagine it might be so. In using the word simple she is being honest and not
sarcastic; she is being humble and respectful of others (parents?) evaluation of herself. The reply

Persuasive Essay On Rap Music
Many believe that rap music has taken a complete 180 in the industry and has turned their lyrics of
inspiration and positivity, to drugs and gang violence. Although several signs can point to this
statement being true, rap music does not encourage teens to act violently. In fact, many artists/rappers
spread positive messages across, giving solutions, and inspiration to the audience.
Parents were and still are on the fence of their kids listening to rap music. The explicit types of rap
music are poisoning the minds of young teens and can even encourage them to act in the a violent
manner or rebel. Although, that is for explicit lyrics, not all rap has explicit lyrics. Altogether, rap
music does not encourage teen violence in any way and many individual artists even teach their
audience how to act positively. Teenagers seem to click easier to song lyrics, whether it s country, rap,
rock, or pop. It can affect teenagers in a positive and negative way, but violence being said in the
lyrics does not cause an indication of aggression for the listener. The lyrics may describe their
situation perfectly, what they go through and how they feel. That s why we always have those catchy
radio tunes stuck in our heads. Alison Churchill, a fan of rapper Eminem from Newsday feed shares
her input on what it can do to younger peers. But she thinks the song could have a positive impact, if it
can hit a nerve with a teenager and prompt them to go talk to someone about it. Because, Churchill
says, The more we talk about a subject, the easier it is to fix. If teens don t usually have anyone to talk
to, it can cause an empty feeling of loneliness that can turn into urges of depression, anxiety, mental
health issues. When rap music hits home for the younger generation it s telling them to open up to
somebody and share what you have to say. Talking about something that is bothersome can be a great
solution for those who need or want it.
Rap music was creating a negative influence throughout the music industry for awhile, it s agreeable
that modern day rap today mostly involves drugs, gangs, violence, money, etc. Although, a lot of it
also gives inspiration or at least has that goal being set when creating the music. Most

Bear Hunt Illustration
The children s book We re Going on a Bear Hunt utilises the switching between black and white
illustrations and full colour effectively. The pages of the story that are in black and white occur when
the family meet an obstacle, such as long wavy grass , and once they have overcome said obstacle the
illustration returns to colour. It repeats in this manner throughout the picture books entirety. In doing
this, the illustrator has emphasised the texts gloominess and foreboding of what the family will have to
do ( we have to go through it ).
The way this text has been structured by combining the aperture, exposition and inciting moment. The
first sentence We re going on a bear hunt tells the reader what the story is going to entail whilst giving
away what future conflict they could be if the family were to find a bear. The exposition is also viewed
here as the reader, with the illustrations help, knows that we (the family) are who is involved and it is
a beautiful day in the country. Conflict rises steadily on every second page revealing a new hurdle the
family has to conquer (mud, lake etc) but is resolved immediately until the climax when the big bear is
found and is not happy to see them. As the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Richard III Deformities
Richard III In Real Life Shakespeare used the physical deformities and the gray areas of history to
create one of the most well known villains of all time. Shakespeare s play, Richard III, is the leading
voice in the Richard III story. He is portrayed as an ugly villain, an image that is fueling the way
people think, talk and reference Richard III. In reality he differed as a person, but many mysteries
remain unsolved. The murder of the princes in the tower at the hand of Richard III is still undecided.
In more recent terms we are able to see what he actually looked like and if his physical appearance
played the role it did in real life. Richard III is an unloved king by many people even though we base
most of our assumptions on a play.
One of the most definitive differences between the play and history is Richard s appearance.
Shakespeare writes about him as a deformed man , who uses his deformities as a crutch, ( Richard)

princes were in the way of the throne (Hicks, 362). If he isn t guilty of this crime it could change the
way he is viewed. The uncertainty leaves room for us to turn to the one source that is definitive,
Shakespeare s play. Shakespeare used this uncertainty to gain our attention and amplify our
accusations against Richard. Murdering relatives may have not been so appalling in its day (

Judges Are Judges Vulnerable To Biases
Even though it is hard for people to admit, judges can fall prey to biases. After several studies,
researchers use the term cognitive biases to categorize the group of decision errors that can be made
by judges. Researchers have found that judges appear to be similar to juries in their inability to
disregard legally prejudicial and impermissible facts when deciding on a verdict. Three types of
cognitive biases or illusions have been identified as those which trail judges are most vulnerable.
These include anchoring, hindsight bias, and egocentric biases. These will all be explained further,
including examples. The first type of bias is anchoring, which is very common among civil cases. It
involves giving excessive weight to the initial starting value, the ... Show more content on

This is the tendency to change a previous judgment or decision in the direction of newly provided
information. This is one of the most common errors in everyday human judgement and prediction.
Legal scholars have noted that it is rare to expect people to predict the outcome of past events in real
life. However, people in law are asked to make the type of judgment quite often. Since courts usually
evaluate events after they have happened, judges are extremely vulnerable to hindsight bias.
Researchers note that judges could not help but rely on information that was not available before a
relevant event took place, but that later became available. The susceptibility to hindsight bias is
troubling because judges are frequently expected to suppress their knowledge of some set of facts
before making decisions. An example of this bias can be seen from exactly this. Judges are to ignore
their knowledge of the outcome of a police search for purposes of determining whether the officers
had probable cause to conduct said search. If the evidence found during the search was damning, this
could prove to be incredibly difficult for the judge to write off when making their

The objective of these unknown experiments was to take a mixed culture, which contains two

one species of bacteria would be a gram negative bacillus and the other would be a gram positive

be conducted was discussed and agreed upon by all group members. The results of each test were

From last week s test, we achieved pure cultural characteristics from the two slants we made. The
growth we saw on the agar slant that contained the yellow specimen was a soft, smooth, yellow
growth. The growth we saw on the beige specimen was a thin, even, beige growth. Both cultural
characteristics were achieved in the appropriate categories. The categories we were looking for
contained abundance of growth, pigmentation, optical characteristics, and consistency. Today we will
be preparing two bacterial smears from each specimen and Gram staining them. The reason we are
conducting this test is to differentiate between two principle groups, gram positive and gram negative
and to further know if a pure culture from both organisms was achieved. This is important for
classification and differentiation of microorganisms. The Gram stain reaction will help us tell the
difference of the chemical composition of bacterial cell walls. The Gram stain procedure uses four
different reagents such as crystal violet, gram s iodine, ethyl alcohol, and safranin. Before the Gram
stain is performed we must make two bacterial smears of the two specimens. We placed one loop of
distilled water on a clean slide aseptically. He transferred the specimen from the agar slant that
contained the yellow growth and placed it on the slide with the water and gently mixed it together in a

arose to help preserve wildlife resource for general public, through that need and the efforts of hunter
to preserve that access to everyone several legislative actions have been taken to generate money to
fund these efforts. On the national level the first legislation aimed towards collection of taxes from
hunting to fuel conservation and wild life management was the The Pittman Robertson Wildlife

Social Security Number Of An Individual
Social Security Number of an Individual The number one priority would be to keep the SSN
confidential, this information does not need to be accessed by most individuals. Behind that integrity
would be the next priority, to make sure this matches up with the individual at hand. Third of course
would have to be availability, without this information, it could prove to be difficult to verify
someones identity.
First Name and Last Name I feel that all of these attributes serve the same level of importance, due to
the fact there is no description of what sort of situation this worksheet is in reference to. A lot of
information can be had, just from a persons first and last name, especially if this name is not very
common.
Credit Card Number I also see credit card numbers as all holding the same level of importance. I feel
this way because these numbers need to kept confidential to minimize the risk of theft. Integrity needs
to be held for the fact that if these are manipulated, depending on the situation, refunds may be pushed
to the wrong individuals bank account. And I feel availability is just as important for verification
reasons.
Qualification I feel that integrity in this care is the most important, for the fact that that these need to
match up with the persons actual qualifications to prevent someone being placed in a position that
may hold confidential information, when in fact they are not qualified to hold this type of information.

Creation Myths And Its Impact On Society
As human beings, we have our own general understanding of how our world came to be. Whether we
are in church, the synagogue, or the temple humans have established ideologies. Humans use the
creation myths to bring about some understanding as to how humans magically or purposely inhabited
the earth. However, even though myths satisfy this yearning for how and why, the scientific world
revolted with the idea that creation myths are no longer satisfactory. In unison paleoanthropologists
and archeologists along with many other historians said that we as humans need a scientific, concrete,
and factual basis for our existence. As a result of many years of research and discovery the scientific
world came to two conclusions. Either Homo erectus evolved into Homo sapiens in each region of
migration (Spodek 16) most notably known as Candelabra. Or the Homo erectus evolved into Homo
sapiens only once in Africa (Spodek 16) most notably known as the Noah s Ark model. Through my
journey of understanding both schools of thought I began to rethink the basic sugar coated origins of
humanity that teachers spoon feed in high school. Spodek along with the associate authors shined a
little light on the fact that Homo sapiens most likely stemmed directly from Africa and migrated to
other places in the world. Which leads me to my thesis: Homo erectus evolved into Homo sapiens
only once in Africa, and then emigrated to the rest of the world. Even though my thesis aligns with the

Happiness By Jane Kenyon
While reading all three articles about happiness one common theme arose. What is truly happiness?
Many different people interpret this question differently, and all three works of writing seem to have a
different view on what happiness is. The poems, Happiness written by Jane Kenyon, addresses the
come and go nature of happiness, while the essay, A Balanced Psychology and A Full Life, focuses on
what needs to be done to increase happiness. With this being said Pig Happiness by Lynne McFall best
addressed the question of what happiness is . The poem Happiness does not fulfill the question of
what happiness truly is, but does provide some good incite on certain parts of what happiness is. The
poem focuses on how happiness has a nature like a prodigal (Kenyon 2). This shows that happiness
comes and goes with no specific pattern just like the prodigal son came back to his father after

The authors of the article believe that there are three things that form happiness as a whole, pleasure

needs to be a way to increase these three constituents in the lives of people. With this being said most
people in the world cannot increase all three constituents, but a person can live a full life when A
person uses all three routes to happiness (541). The main goal of people is to increase all three paths or
constituents because through living a full life a person can have more satisfaction. This article gives
many interesting facts about happiness and gives a very direct definition of what happiness is. This
definition of what happiness is might match what some other people might think, but it cannot satisfy

The Myth Of Justice Analysis
The article, The myth of Justice, by Michael Dorris is intriguing and insightful because he provides
his stance on justice and how he thinks we have come to the point of thinking life is supposed to be
fair. He believes that justice is something that isn t achievable. He even goes a step farther and says in
his thesis that justice is one of those palliative myths... and that it isn t even something that exists. It s
just something that we, as a human race, have developed and created over time. His thoughts are
really intriguing because he has a point and he backs it up with things most people could probably
relate too. However, I noticed that he never discussed when we actually think justice is achieved or
gained. This has led me to disagree with his thought that justice is only a myth and it can t be
achieved.
This article is about how and why Dorris thinks justice is a palliative myth. He says that over time, we
have created this idea that life should be fair and life should have a balance. He questions those who
think that that s the way it should be and is yet to meet somebody who has had that experience. If you
believe it, then you haven t lived long enough to know differently. He was taught to believe that we

Liberalism is a political viewpoint that is established on the thoughts of liberty and equality. Thus,
liberalists promote various ideas that are aligned to the concepts of liberty and equality such as
freedom of speech, freedom of religion, gender equality, and civil rights. In general, it can be argued
that the philosophy of liberalism is focused on protecting and promoting the freedom of the people
(Celikates and Jansen). As such, it presents the people as the central issue of politics. In fact,
according to the liberalists, the main function of the government is to protect individuals from being

3. What is neoliberalism (you get a sense of neoliberalism in David Harvey, Elizabeth Povinelli,

encourages people to participate in socio economic activities at all the time in a bid to realizing the
desired development. It plays an essential role in empowering the people to remain committed to
realizing success in life by engaging them to work at all the times (Harvey 44). It does not
acknowledge the significance of leisure in the socio economic development of an individual. Critics of
neoliberalism are against the fact that a person solely focuses on realizing success at the expense of

analysis including numerous factors before make their enormous financial decisions. Over their course
in business, Disney has made several costly mistakes that changed their perception of their business
ideas. When Disney decides to build a new location they must take every factor into consideration.
Even when they believe they have covered all the bases, in reality there is no way to be completely
sure in how things will turn out in the future. One example is EuroDisney and their poor performance.
Disney initially believed they built a true masterpiece. They believed the new location would be just
like the Tokyo park; which was a rare example. Furthermore, Disney was over optimistic in how
successful their locations could be compared to Tokyo. However, they were sadly mistaken in reality.
Their creation of EuroDisney was a huge flop, contrary to the extensive research they left out key
factors that destroyed their success. They disregarded key factors such as competition, cultural
differences and environment; these factors were key to their failure. If Disney would have came in
with a different mindset, these factors would have been taken into consideration. As a result, there

was his status worth his life? Is death a worthy price for eternal life in legend and song? Is it wrong for

unrest that cause by a group of people or organization usually in contempt of a law or regulation
related to a sociopolitical issues. Civil unrest is a direct result of the misconduct and mistrust of the
government and police departments. According to FatalEncounters.org a different investigation is
being pursued by the United States justice department due to possible civil rights violations as well as
an investigation into unethical racial disparities in violation of the fourth amendment by the Ferguson,
Cleveland, and Albuquerque police departments. These incidences can be hard to swallow for many
citizens, however there is another problem with tracing maltreatment of citizens by law enforcement
and that is faulty and inconsistent reporting. Most incidents of excessive, unnecessary force go

Northeastern University Press, 2013. ProQuest Ebook Central,
http://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/apollolib/detail.action?docID=1093565. This book offers
information of the policies of New York City, and other large urban centers and their long living
policies of zero tolerance policing or order maintenance and how these deal with catching criminals
before a crime is committed. These policies have contributed to growing racial tensions and have
lowered crime rates nationwide as many departments utilize these methods of catching suspects.
However, they have negatively impacted the black and Latino communities as they are concentrated in
the low income diverse neighborhoods. The book offers qualitative and quantitative data on the nature
of the American criminal justice system and its contributions to this prevalent issue. The book also

Violence And The Problem Of Sexual And Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence is an issue that keeps increasing. The abusers usually have issues such as, drinking,
major aggression problems, and some may even have a mental illness. In domestic violence there are
many different types of abuse that a person can go through. Domestic Violence is the most common
but there is also Sexual and Mental Violence. There are many problems that lead up to domestic
violence but also there´s many solutions.
A major problem of domestic violence is the abuser is gaining control over someone and their life.
¨Domestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose and one purpose only: to gain and maintain
total control over you. An abuser doesn t play fair. (domestic violence)¨. The abuser (man or woman)
uses fear, shame, guilt, and will use the people you love against someone. The abuser also threatens
them and hurts them and people around them that they could run to for help. The abuser uses their fear
of them, makes them feel like they re worthless, makes all the money and isolates them from family
and friends unless they are there to keep them from telling family or friends about what s going on or
leaving them.
Many abusers have a drinking problem, and this is also another big leading cause to abuse. Research
shows that drinking and alcohol abuse lead to physical aggression. People who tend to already have a
problem with anger and drink get so much worse and get out of control. ¨Alcohol use has been
reported in between 25 percent and 85 percent

The Cut Short Story
Jordyn Vicente

The Cut
It was a Friday, I hopped off the bus and sprinted home as fast as I could to pack my clothes in my
suitcase. I regretted procrastinating the night before, because my mom would be home any minute to
leave for Oklahoma. I grabbed my suitcase and flung it carelessly on my bed. I was so excited for my
basketball tournament that I stood on my bed and began packing quickly. Suddenly i remembered that
I left a shirt in the laundry room. I stepped down from my bed and felt something cut through my toe
like butter. I looked down and saw a big piece of glass with blood dripping down the side.
Immediately I knew what happened. With my quick thinking, I grabbed my cell phone and I hopped
into the bathroom. Trying my best not to get blood on the clean carpet. I sat on the edge of the bathtub
and turned on the water. While the water washed the fresh blood, I called my dad on my phone. I
heard his thunderous footsteps coming down the hallway. He swung open the door and wrapped my
foot in a towel.
He helped me into the car as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Except this time it felt colder and had a different atmosphere. You could hear the roaring of machines
but at the same time there was an ominous silence to it. I sat alone with my thoughts until they were
broken by the sound of my name. They helped me inside and looked at my foot once more. Instantly
they decided that I would need stitches. That was what I figured from the very beginning, but still
dreaded the idea. Right before they began the stitches they looked once more and realized the cut
wasn t deep enough for something as drastic as stitches. They simply decided to use skin glue instead.
They glued the skin back together with much less pain and effort that stitches could have caused. I
walked out with my cautiously trying not to break the glue because I never wanted to walk back into
that place ever

Feminist Criticism of Frankenstein and The Yellow Wallpaper
Feminism in literature has existed as early as the 16th century, the belief that men and women should
have equal rights and opportunities (Shneir, Miram). Throughout history, women have portrayed the
idea of feminism in literature, with one of the most famous feminist writers being Mary Shelley.
Shelley was born in 1797 into a notable family, with her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, being a
renowned feminist writer herself (Biogram). Her novel Frankenstein was published in 1818, a time
when most women were extremely conservative, and were deprived of the rights and opportunities
that men held. In the novel, Shelley portrays feminism by essentially mocking women and giving
them a lack of power showing how women should not be. One way Shelley mocks women in
Frankenstein is the societal role she gives her female characters. This is first seen in the beginning of
the novel, when young Elizabeth is presented to Victor Frankenstein in the form of a pretty present
(Shelley 7), portraying Elizabeth as being in a sense a gift to Victor, causing her to be seen as inferior
to him. Elizabeth s physical appearance is also frequently referred to: her golden hair, blue eyes, and
thin body; but rarely are her non superficial attributes, assuming that those hold little value. The focus
on only the physicality of women is also portrayed in The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The
short story discusses a husband, Alymer s, wishes to have his wife s facial birthmark removed, due to

Jacque And Verbal Altercation
On Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at approximately 2332 hours, I responded to Kroger, 1745 Highway 138,
for an altercation in the parking lot. Upon my arrival I noticed a female, Ashley Franks, involved in
verbal altercation with a male, Jacque Carter, inside a Kia Sorento, Ga tag number PFJ3945. I exited
my vehicle and met with the victim/complainant Franks. Franks advised me a physical altercation had
taken place inside of the vehicle and Carter had hit/bumped her in the course of the altercation. While
Franks gave detail description about the course of events, I noticed that she was very upset and
disgruntled. There was no physical evidence that indicated and physical altercation had taken place.
Franks stated she needed medical attention because she had high blood pressure. While we waited for
medical personnel to arrive, I conducted a field interview with the individuals at the location. ... Show

Carter stated Franks would not exit his vehicle; therefore, he grabbed her belongings and threw them

advised me she was involved in a verbal altercation with Carter. Once the altercation escalated Carter
lunged towards her and made contact/hit her arm. Franks stated in the process she stopped him from
attacking her. Franks then noticed that Carter became upset and grabbed her bag and tossed them in
the parking lot. A witness statement was written by Franks and placed into the

Millennials In The Workplace
Millennials In The Workplace
The only people who need to be motivated are those who cannot see a future. Simon Sinek on
Millennials in the Workplace was one of the most depressing and it the same time thought provoking
talks I have ever listened to in a long time. Simon O. Sinek is a British/American author, motivational
speaker and marketing consultant, he is the author of three books, and has his own business Sinek
Partners. In Sinek s interview, he introduces four reasons why he believes so many millennials are
unhappy at work: Parenting, technology, impatience and environment. Sinek says millennials are
tough to manage and that they want what every generation before them wanted but the only difference
is that millennials are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which bring us to Sinek s other point impatience and how millennials expect instant gratification and
instant praise from doing minimal work.
Millennials are faced with a challenge of instant gratification , Sinek suggests that millennials can
have whatever they want whenever they want. Personally, I believe he is missing a key point; most
young people have been impatient since the beginning of time. Worst case scenario is we re seeing an
increase in suicide rates. The best case scenario is you have an entire population growing up and going
through life and just never really finding joy, they ll never really find deep, deep fulfillment in work or
in life. In my view, the fact that most young people have impatience is a good thing; they will have the
drive to help change the world. I happen to believe there is far too much patience in the workplace and
school right now. We keep teaching young adults the same thing repeatedly instead of speeding up the
process and teaching them to move forward and wanting to complete tasks faster is a good thing. I was
impatient in my current job and kept pushing for what I wanted and was promoted to a management
position in less than a year of working for the company, bypassing that have worked there for year
who were patiently waiting for an opportunity to fall into their laps. The world is changing now and
we need to change with it.

How significant is the theme of violence in Of Mice and...
The novel Of Mice and Men , written by John Steinbeck, is a tale of an extraordinary friendship
between two ranch workers who fight for survival in the harsh times of the 1930s, the great depression
of America. The essay concerns the role of violence throughout the novel and explores the theme of
violence in different parts of the tale, as well as looking how specific characters use violence for
different reasons. Specific areas of which the novel will explore are parts such as the death of Curlys
wife, the fight between Curly and Lennie and the death of Lennie. The content of the book as a strong
historic and social element, as well as a literary one. The social element refers to the way they lived.
This would have been poorly, as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Carlson has belittled Curly by calling him weak, Curly feels foolish. This causes him to pick on
a person weaker than him, as he feels he can rebuild his respect and keep his last little bit of dignity.
This person happens to be Lennie. No big son of a bitch is gonna laugh at me. I ll show ya who s yella
. This show Curly trying to show everyone that he is not weak, and that he is still in charge. He also
uses the word yella to insult Lennie with. The fight between Lennie and Curly is a major point in the
novel. This mid point to the story displays the most violence, aggression and emotive language in a
single scene, and also sees the two most physical characters go head to head. On one side there is
Curly a psychotic mad man who craves violence and respect. On the other side there is Lennie a
simple, child minded man who would not whish to hurt anyone until he is forced to. When Curly starts
to attack Lennie, Lennie does not retaliate until George instructs him to. This is because Lennie s use
of violence is unintentional. He does not use violence to hurt them on purpose, but will when he is
forced to. In this case Lennie grabs Curly s hand. When this happens he panics. This causes him to
hang on, and he will not let go until he calms down. This can also be seen in the incident at weed,
when Lennie grabs a women s dress. In this incident, the woman yells. This causes Lennie to panic,
and therefore he grabs tighter. This also

Dystopia In The Giver, By Lois Lowry

Lois Lowry
First Published in the USA by Houghton Mifflin in 1993
First Published in the Great Britain by HarperCollins in 1994
No. of pages 224
Lois Lowry s The Giver depicts the living in a futuristic society that has eliminated warfare, hunger,
agony, pain and has been converted to Sameness . It illustrates the story of a young boy, Jonas who s
living in this highly controlled community. This novel fits into a larger genre called dystopian
literature. It is set in a society which appears as a utopian society but as we progress it is revealed to
be a dystopian one. There is no prejudice in the community and it has also eliminated choice where at
the age of 12 every member of the community used to be selected by the Committee ... Show more

Since Jonas lives in a community where each person s choice is restricted since they have the fear of
making wrong choices. Jonas lives in a community where the people have not been exposed to the
risks of climate variation nor to the any forms of pain or suffering. Their development is stunted in
many ways in the name of stability and predictability. This novel has also depicted the relationship
between memory and wisdom because as we reach towards the end, Jonas has well understood what
will benefit and what will hamper the stability of the community and that has come through his new
memories and his discussion of these memories with the Giver. Jonas, the novel s protagonist is a
brave and quick witted boy with the Capacity to See Beyond. As the acquisition of society s memories
gives him wisdom and new appreciation for individual differences and human emotions, he gradually
becomes disillusioned with his society and is eventually faced with the choice either to continue being
the Receiver or to take action to place his community on a new path. Jonas here serves as an
intermediary with the humanity, who is supposed to deliver this newfound knowledge of memories to
the other people. This aspect can be closely related to Prophecy in religion. Here Jonas is likely to
perform the role of a Prophet. The book ends with the standard nonspecific transgressive spiritual
event that marks all

The Silent Killer
A mother walks in to find her child hanging by the neck at the top of the staircase. She cries out, Why?
I just don t understand why... she has been quiet lately, but I would have never imaged this! Why didn
t I see the signs? What could I have done? Thousands of teens commit suicide each year in the United
States. In fact, suicide is the third leading cause of death for fifteen to twenty four year olds (Healthy
Children.org). Teenagers are committing suicide due to mental illness. Safety of the children relies on
the public s expansion of knowledge to ensure appropriate treatment is provided in a timely manner.
Depression is commonly referred to as the silent killer . You never know what people are truly feeling.
Teenage depression and increased suicide rates are issues that must be addressed with a sense of
urgency. What additional education can be provided to expand the knowledge of school administrators
and educators which will allow continuity of care throughout the child s treatment plan process?

  • 2. The Song Analysis Of It s Quiet Uptown It s Quiet Uptown spans the range of emotions one feels upon the loss of a loved one. Grief, anger, depression, and guilt are all expressed through the lyrics. While the original number describes Alexander Hamilton s move to Harlem after the death of his son during a duel (Pittsburgh Post Gazette), the powerful imagery that is portrayed and the emotions that are conveyed are relatable to anyone who has experienced loss. The piece serves a ritualistic function it takes us into grief, and then it takes us out of it, as Oskar Eustis told the New York Times. It s Quiet Uptown is useful as an aid to those who are grieving and the ones who are supporting the bereaved. Listening to Kelly Clarkson sing It s Quiet Uptown is heart wrenching; she conveys so much emotion with her voice that it compounds the meaning of the words. She was pregnant with her own son when she was asked to cover the song for the Hamilton Mixtape, and she put emotion about the unimaginable idea of losing a child into her rendition of it (Dinh). Although she changed a few words to make the song more her own, Clarkson held true to the original message of the song. In both Clarkson s rendition and the original version, the instrumental accompaniment is minimal. Soft piano chords play slowly beneath the singer. Occasionally violin adds a somber line or two. During the refrain, a steady, soft drumbeat accompanies the piano and vocals. Throughout most of It s Quiet Uptown , the tempo is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the text, Why We Shouldn t Go To Mars by Gregg Easterbrook, it states, If new launch systems could put weight into orbit affordably, and if advanced propulsion could speed up that long, slow transit to Mars, then the dream of stepping onto the Red Planet might become reality. Mars will still be there when the technology is ready. (973) This articulates that humans do not have enough technology right now to study space and scientists should spend some time researching on what technology is best instead of rushing and finding technology to study space immediately. Likewise, Mars is not going to disappear if researchers spend the time to gather information that is beneficial. By researching, one can have a better idea of what Mars would be like when astronauts explore it in the future. On the contrary, those in favor of space exploration may say that if scientists take the time to collect information about space, the Earth will overpopulate even before astronauts have the time to explore Mars. However, if researchers try to explore Mars right now, it would not be successful due to the fact that humans do not have the necessary technology that is needed to fulfill this intention. • 11. Research And Development ( R D ) And Acquisitions Research and development (R D) and acquisitions are a firm s core areas for innovation, which sets the stage for its ability to compete in the market based on what cutting edge technology or ideas the company has gathered. Accordingly, globalization and increased competition has led companies to become more efficient and reevaluate whether to outsource R D or to innovate in house. When opting to outsource, companies should look at their organization at a functional level, and identify the processes and tasks in order to identify opportunities that can be gained from outsourcing versus developing in house. Additionally, companies should focus not on where the innovation occurs, but rather who will ultimately have control of the final ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Efficiency of a company turns on being able to produce in the shortest amount of time while maintaining quality. Thus, outsourcing allows a company to be efficient where in house the same task could not be accomplished in a reasonable amount of time. Opting to outsource R D is also a good business strategy when the skillset is not found within the organization. No matter how talented a company is, it simply cannot possess all the talent and innovation under one roof. Thus, outsourcing R D allows companies to utilize talent pools from all over the world. Companies may even outsource within their own country by hiring contractors or freelancers. For example, in order to stay competitive, technology companies simply do not have the time to conduct in house R D. Instead, it is more efficient to outsource or acquire unique technologies of other companies to expand their technology portfolio relatively quickly and align itself with talented people. For example, Yahoo, Inc., an internet search engine tool, acquired Flickr, a photo sharing site a completely different component than its own. In your answer also discuss the uses of the yield curve in financial markets, why strips are used in the construction of yield curves and why investors would want to invest in zero coupon bonds or strips. The yield curve is a graph that plots the yields of similar quality bonds against their maturities, ranging from shortest to longest. The relationship between yield and maturity is referred to as the term structure of interest rates. The Treasury yield curve is the base or benchmark for pricing bonds and setting yields in other areas of the debt market. Moreover, the shape of the yield curve is constructed from U.S Treasury strips which are zero coupon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there is no explanation for inverted or flat curves in this theory. The market segmentation theory however, suggests that s there are two distinct markets for short and long term bonds. The demand and supply in the long term bond market is the determinant of long term yields whereas, the demand and supply in the short term bond market is the determinant of short term rates. Under this theory, it is implied that the future interest rates have very little to do with the shape of the Treasury yield curve. With a greater demand for shorter maturity T bills relative to T bonds, the yield curve would typically be upward sloping. However, this theory doesn t explain why interest rates on various maturities have positive correlations. Lastly, the preferred habitat theory which is a hybrid of the three aforementioned theories, reject the view that the risk premium must rise uniformly with maturity. Therefore this theory assumes that investors who seek liquidity tend to prefer the short part of the Treasury curve. However, as a result of the demand for short term T bills being greater than long term T bonds there is an upward slope in the Treasury yield curve. In essence, this theory further modifies the market segmentation theory by implying that investors will switch from their preferred bond markets if premiums are adequate. Yield curves are used in financial markets as a measure of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is roughly 100km thick depending on its age, and is broken into plates, known as the tectonic plates. Within the lithosphere is the crust as a portion of the upper mantle. The crust is the outer most portion of the earth and takes up less than 1% than the total volume of the earth. It is commonly compared to the skin of an apple, whereas the apple represents the earth. Thanks to static electricity ice, dirt, rocks and other grains of solid material slowly began to gather together forming bigger pieces, those pieces formed bigger pieces, having a snowball effect. They eventually became big enough to have their own gravitational field which then collected more material, eventually creating a planet. More material meant more mass, which gave the forming planet even more gravity. With tons and tons of material, and gravity pushing it together, intense pressure causes intense heat. This combination of pressure and heat gives the earth its molten interior. The Jovian (gas) planets formed by a similar process but with less solid materials and with much more gas that was blown further out by the solar winds. Jupiter and the rest of the gas giant probably contain a solid core, of rock and other metals. Although none of the gas planets have a solid surface like we do on earth, only a thicker and thicker atmosphere until reaching the core. It s important to note, that because Jupiter is so large (317 times the mass of the earth, 1321 times bigger by volume), and has such large pressure on the interior, elements found as gases on earth could possibly be a solid or vice versa. For example, metallic hydrogen (which is a state where hydrogen behaves as an electrical conductor) is only still a theory since we are unable to create the pressures needed here on earth. Imperialism In King Leopold s Ghost In Adam Hoschild s book, King Leopold s Ghost, readers are told of the brutal and unrelenting spirit of King Leopold II as he colonizes Congo in the effort to build fortune and power in the name of humanit. Hoschild s goal in the writing of this book is to display the horrors of forced labor during Leopold s rule over the Congo and to display the negative consequences of imperialism. Throughout this novel we see Leopold s secrecy as he convinces hundreds of people of his pure intentions to create an area of free trade and prosperity of the African people. He did this by holding conferences such as the Geographical Conference. There he explained his fictitious aspiration for the abolishment of the slave trade and for peace in Africa. This colonial ... The use of indirect leaders leads to very little reprentation in government and therefore not a whole lot of say for those who are being colonized. We see the negative consequences of Imperialism very stated in colonial India. Leopold claimed he was doing all of these things for the good of the African people. He even said that he was saving them from Arab slaves traders. It is also important to remember this period in history because this story brings the chilling question of human nature into the forefront of minds. Are humans at heart good or evil? Life is not black or while, and we see this displayed throughout the book. While Leopold and his counterparts may have ensued appalling brutality into the lives of millions of Africans, there were many people coming up behind them ready and willing to stand up for the humanitarian rights of the abused. They were there to say that every human being has a right to be treated as such. These people also led to the first human rights movement of the 20th century. • 15. Habits of the Mind Habits of Mind The habits of mind might better be termed the habits of a perfected mind since most have not acquired all of these habits. The two selected for this paper are persistence and precision. Both are difficult to embed because they require disciple and mental toughness. This paper discusses the connection between the two and how they can be defeated if a student is distracted from them. Persistence and precision are habits of mind that require many of the same skills to acquire. Persistence is defined as sticking to a task until it is completed (Costa Kallick, 2008). It is the ability to fail and to continue pressing towards a goal despite continuous rejection of the effort. People who have this trait are not afraid of the outcome of a single endeavor, but press on until they are successful. Having precision of language and thought is striving to communicate accurately in both written and oral form, taking care to use precise language; defining terms; and using correct names, labels and analogies (Costa Kallick, 2008). This ability is fostered by a mind that wants to ensure that it is communicating thoughts clearly so that they are not misunderstood. It is also a skill that takes a great deal of determination and discipline to perfect. These two skills can be innate, in a very few people, but by the majority they are acquired (Watts, 2012). Thinking clearly is the first step to communicating clearly, and this leads to the ability to accomplish tasks. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although several signs can point to this statement being true, rap music does not encourage teens to act violently. In fact, many artists/rappers spread positive messages across, giving solutions, and inspiration to the audience. Parents were and still are on the fence of their kids listening to rap music. The explicit types of rap music are poisoning the minds of young teens and can even encourage them to act in the a violent manner or rebel. Although, that is for explicit lyrics, not all rap has explicit lyrics. Altogether, rap music does not encourage teen violence in any way and many individual artists even teach their audience how to act positively. Teenagers seem to click easier to song lyrics, whether it s country, rap, rock, or pop. It can affect teenagers in a positive and negative way, but violence being said in the lyrics does not cause an indication of aggression for the listener. The lyrics may describe their situation perfectly, what they go through and how they feel. That s why we always have those catchy radio tunes stuck in our heads. Alison Churchill, a fan of rapper Eminem from Newsday feed shares her input on what it can do to younger peers. But she thinks the song could have a positive impact, if it can hit a nerve with a teenager and prompt them to go talk to someone about it. Because, Churchill says, The more we talk about a subject, the easier it is to fix. If teens don t usually have anyone to talk to, it can cause an empty feeling of loneliness that can turn into urges of depression, anxiety, mental health issues. When rap music hits home for the younger generation it s telling them to open up to somebody and share what you have to say. The pages of the story that are in black and white occur when the family meet an obstacle, such as long wavy grass , and once they have overcome said obstacle the illustration returns to colour. After several studies, researchers use the term cognitive biases to categorize the group of decision errors that can be made by judges. Researchers have found that judges appear to be similar to juries in their inability to disregard legally prejudicial and impermissible facts when deciding on a verdict. Three types of cognitive biases or illusions have been identified as those which trail judges are most vulnerable. These include anchoring, hindsight bias, and egocentric biases. This is the tendency to change a previous judgment or decision in the direction of newly provided information. This is one of the most common errors in everyday human judgement and prediction. Legal scholars have noted that it is rare to expect people to predict the outcome of past events in real life. However, people in law are asked to make the type of judgment quite often. Since courts usually evaluate events after they have happened, judges are extremely vulnerable to hindsight bias. Researchers note that judges could not help but rely on information that was not available before a relevant event took place, but that later became available. The susceptibility to hindsight bias is troubling because judges are frequently expected to suppress their knowledge of some set of facts before making decisions. An example of this bias can be seen from exactly this. However, even though myths satisfy this yearning for how and why, the scientific world revolted with the idea that creation myths are no longer satisfactory. Within the text, lies the struggles of life and death and the relationships between a god with a man, earth and the heavens, and a boy with his mother. This is the tale of the, birth, life, and death of one of the greatest heros ever to live. However was his status worth his life? Is death a worthy price for eternal life in legend and song? Is it wrong for a mother to let her son die, for an ultimately pointless cause, to let him give his life for glory. How does she do this when she knows, beyond the shadow of a doubt, he would ve lived his life....a peaceful man. How can she reach the conclusion this is acceptable? Furthermore, how does she reason to herself that being remembered is worth dying for or that giving up everything for the uncertainty of death is worth his life, all for glory? There are many uncertainties and speculative points to be made while reviewing this moving litituare. Would one die to be remembered? First, what must be evaluated is the clear psychopathology of anyone who would. To die for any reason goes against every survival bound viber in your subconscious tapestry, For any mortal man this is the source of fear and loathing (especially in Las Vegas.) • 45. Feminist Criticism of Frankenstein and The Yellow Wallpaper Feminism in literature has existed as early as the 16th century, the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities (Shneir, Miram). Throughout history, women have portrayed the idea of feminism in literature, with one of the most famous feminist writers being Mary Shelley. Shelley was born in 1797 into a notable family, with her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, being a renowned feminist writer herself (Biogram). Her novel Frankenstein was published in 1818, a time when most women were extremely conservative, and were deprived of the rights and opportunities that men held. In the novel, Shelley portrays feminism by essentially mocking women and giving them a lack of power showing how women should not be. One way Shelley mocks women in Frankenstein is the societal role she gives her female characters. This is first seen in the beginning of the novel, when young Elizabeth is presented to Victor Frankenstein in the form of a pretty present (Shelley 7), portraying Elizabeth as being in a sense a gift to Victor, causing her to be seen as inferior to him. Elizabeth s physical appearance is also frequently referred to: her golden hair, blue eyes, and thin body; but rarely are her non superficial attributes, assuming that those hold little value. The focus on only the physicality of women is also portrayed in The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne. In my view, the fact that most young people have impatience is a good thing; they will have the drive to help change the world. I happen to believe there is far too much patience in the workplace and school right now. We keep teaching young adults the same thing repeatedly instead of speeding up the process and teaching them to move forward and wanting to complete tasks faster is a good thing.
