This document discusses several basic electronic components: resistors, which reduce current flow and lower voltage; capacitors, which store energy electrostatically between conductive plates separated by an insulator; diodes, which allow current to flow easily in one direction but not the other due to their semiconductor material and p-n junction; and integrated circuits, which integrate multiple electronic components onto a single small chip of semiconductor material.

4. A resistor is a passive two-terminal
electrical component that
implements electrical resistance as a
circuit element. Resistors act to
reduce current flow, and, at the
same time, act to lower voltage
levels within circuits. In electronic
circuits resistors are used to limit
current flow, to adjust signal levels,
bias active elements, terminate
transmission lines among other uses

5. CAPACITORS

6. A capacitor (originally known as a
condenser) is a passive two-terminal
electrical component used to store
energy electrostatically in an electric
field. The forms of practical
capacitors vary widely, but all contain
at least two electrical conductors
(plates) separated by a dielectric (i.e.
insulator). The conductors can be thin
films of metal, aluminum foil or disks,
etc

7. DIODES

8. Diode is a two-terminal electronic
component with asymmetric conductance; it
has low (ideally zero) resistance to current in
one direction, and high (ideally infinite)
resistance in the other. A semiconductor
diode, the most common type today, is a
crystalline piece of semiconductor material
with a p–n junction connected to two
electrical terminals

integrated circuit (also referred to as
an IC, a chip, or a microchip) is a set
of electronic circuits on one small
plate ("chip") of semiconductor
material, normally silicon. This can be
made much smaller than a discrete
circuit made from independent
