Essay On Dual Federalism
Federalism is a division of power in a central government and their regional governments.
(Learners.org, Federalism US vs. The States). The first system of federalism is dual federalism. Dual
federalism is the state government has their own responsibilities and the national government has their
own responsibilities. Dual federalism was mainly based around the Tenth Amendment which states
that anything that isn t in the Constitution are reserved to the states. It is kind of like a tug of war, the
state governments are on one side and the federal government on the other. The rope is pulled back
and forth, and at one time one side sees to be winning, but then the rope gets pulled back to the other
side. In the dual federalism, each government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the past, the Congress and the House have forced the state governments to meet in certain
enviromental standards. (Sparknotes Editors, Federalism, page 2)
In the early 1970s, the US knew that they needed a change in federalism so they called it new
federalism. New federalism gave the states some power while knowing that the federal government is
the highest power. At this time, the state government regained some power. Richard Nixon started to
support this type of federalism during his presidency, and every president since Nixon has continued
to support new federalism.(Sparknotes Editors,Federalism,page 1)
Examples of when the National Government has withheld funding to the States to making them
comply was in World War II when the people were relying on the federal money and when the
government was relying on the states to follow federal policies. ( Sparknotes Editors, Federalism, page

purpose with no excuses. (Sparknotes Editors, Federalism, page

Red Meat Vs White Meat Research Paper
It is a controversial discussion over which meat is better: red or white meat? Both red and white meat
are good sources of protein and provide many beneficial nutrients that help with body function.
Protein is important in supporting the immune system and necessary for human consumption to
maintain a healthy balance. Many humans commonly consume meat as a source of protein. In
deciding what to consume, it is important to choose wisely to avoid risk of negative health effects.
Risk of various health issues can be increased through consumption of meats high in fat and
cholesterol. By exploring the comparison of nutritional and health aspects of red and white meat, one
can conclude that white meat is better for your overall health.

Unlike white meat, red meat is suggested to cause many health problems due to the higher levels of
saturated fat and cholesterol. These high amounts of cholesterol can increase risk of the buildup of
plaque. Red meat contains a compound called carnitine that is linked to the clogging of the arteries.
Red meat is associated with a increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and colorectal cancer.
Red meat may also contain harmful hormones that increase risk of breast cancer. Although the iron
present is more easily absorbed, heme iron has been linked to cancer. Red meat has even been linked
to increased risk of death. According to a Harvard Study conducted in March 2012, consuming a daily
serving of processed meat increased death risk by 20 percent...while a once per day serving of
unprocessed red meat was tied to a 13 percent increase in overall mortality risk (Jaslow). Another
issue is that when grilling, heterocylic amines, compounds linked to cancer, are released. As stated,
processed meat is unhealthier for consumption. Pork often comes in the form of processed meat which
is associated with increased risk for cancer. An additional problem is the harboring of bacteria in meat.
Cattle are often associated with harboring E.coli which may lead to E. coli poisoning upon
consumption. Studies support the idea that red meat and processed meat may increase risk of

Comparing Tale Of Genji And Ariwara No Narihira
The kishu ryūritan , or the exile of the young noble , is a recurring motif in Classical Japanese
literature where a young god or aristocrat undergoes a severe trial in a distant and hostile land as
punishment for a previous transgression (Haruo, 1987). With both the protagonists of the Tale of Genji
(Hikaru Genji) and the Tales of Ise (the anonymous man ) embarking on self imposed exiles, this
essay will examine the similarities and differences between the experiences of the two characters, as
well as the Heian socio political context that this literary trope reveals.
According to Ivy (1995), the theme of the wandering stranger god is one of the most important
literary...motifs in Japan . The formation of thematic oppositions such as exile and exclusion , travel
and return in Japanese literature is significant in light of the socio political system of Heian Japan (Ivy,
1995). Not only was the capital a primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often regarded as representatives of the irogonomi character type, both the protagonists are of the
aristocratic class and show a strong predilection for romantic entanglements, often multiple, with the
opposite sex (Levy, 2011). Their common status as connoisseurs of love and perfect Heian courtier[s] ,
however, is also what led to their downfall (Sprague, 2011). In the Tale of Genji, Genji becomes
amorously involved with one of Kokiden s younger sisters, Oborozukiyo, who has been promised to
the future Emperor Suzaku (Bowring, 2004). Similarly, Narihira is described in Episode 6 of the Tales
of Ise to have for years courted a most inaccessible lady , who is identified in the same episode as the
future Empress from the Second Ward (Tales of Ise, 72 73). The discovery of the affair with the
consort is thus a common plot element within the two texts that lead to the exile of Genji and Narihira

Hetch-Hetchy Valley was first discovered in 1871 by John...
Hetch Hetchy Valley was first discovered in 1871 by John Muir. Muir referred to this valley to
Yosemite Valley because of its glamorous views. The name of this valley is derived from Miwok word
hatchhatchie, meaning edible grass (tchistory). Hetchy Hetch was used shortly after as a reservoir and
water system for the Bay Area. Hetch Hetchy Valley is located in the Yosemite National Park of
California. Water from Hetch Hetchy was delivered through the damming of the Tuolumne River at
around 3,800 feet elevation; it travels through complex tunnels through the Sierra Nevada. The Hetch
Hetchy Valley presents two of the tallest waterfalls in North America. This valley is also a place where
visitors can witness the beautiful wildlife and water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even then, the proposal was rejected for a few years. At the time, San Francisco received water
support from Lake Eleanor, but both the lake and the valley was demanded. There was much criticism
to set up this dam by many conservatives and Muir himself. The proposal finally passed in 1913 even
after much opposition from all over the country. This Hetch Hetchy project began and the O
Shaughnessy Dam was built. The construction of this dam cost $100 million and 68 lives. This dam
streamed water over 160 miles to reach the Bay Area. This project was further improved in 1928 when
San Francisco voters approved of the $24 million payment, which was completed in 1934. San
Francisco voters decided to give the Hetch Hetchy project another improvement in 1947; $25 million
was invested for a second pipeline from the reservoir. In 1961, over $100 million in bonds was used to
develop and expand the project. In 1970, the Sierra Club wanted the restoration of the valley and the
removing of reservoirs from both Eleanor Dam and O Shaughnessy Dam. This idea and proposal was
rejected in 1988 with the reason that it would cost too much funding to return Hetch Hetchy to its
original form and would bring about the water problem in the Bay Area. The movement to recover the
valley was firm as Restore Hetch Hetchy, a non profit organization with Sierra Club members and
other environmental organizations, was pushing studies to find an alternative and ways to

Abstinence Research
During the 20th century, American society faced plights relating to human sexuality like the HIV crisis
(1968) and the enormous teenage pregnancy rate in 1990 s. In this era, technological developments
made in contraception led to colossal advancement in the quest for finding solutions to the previously
mentioned problems. The results of these advancements came in the form of the contraception pill
approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1957 and the development of the latex
condom in 1920.
There has been much debate about the best method to approach complications related to sexual health.
The oldest and most widely used method is the abstinence program in high schools. This program is
legally defined (Section 510 of the Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researchers used a categorization for the U.S. states of three levels of the only abstinence program
(Stanger Hall Hall 2011), where the level three is the firmly use of this educational program whereas
the level zero is where this program is barely used in high schools.
In this study also supports the argument from the other article (Greslé Favier 2013) where the states
classified as level three states are the generally denominated conservative states otherwise classified as
liberal states. This comprehensive study (2013) found that in those level three federation the teenage
pregnancy rates are even higher than in the level zero ones. This can serve as a strong example that
support the idea that the abstinence only programs are not effective in the reduction of the pregnancy

Prions Essay
Prions
Prions have been a mistery for scientists from the day they where discovered. Prions act like viruses
but they are not. Their structure and chemistry are unknown. They are believed to be proteins but that
is yet to be completely proved.
Prion stands for proteinaceous infectious particles . Prions are known to cause many diseases involved
with nervous systems like the brain. They are the ones that cause the well known mad cow disesase in
Britain and scrapie for animals. For humans they are known to cause a rare disease in Papua New
Guinea called Kuru ( or laughing death ) which striked only the cannibals in the Highlander tribes.
Investigation led to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This protein was found to be a glycoprotein (PrP): sugars are bounded to the amino acid, and it is half
the size of hemoglobin. PrP is the protein, but we can also find today PrPc (for cellular) and PrPsc (for
scrapie). Prp can be found in steak ( skeletal muscle) and also on the surface of lymphocytes present in
milk, but there is no evidence that the ingestion of this things can cause disease in humans , but there
is the still a risk.
Amyloid hypothesis.
Prions were found to form rods: long fibrils in brain tissues infected with scrapie and Creutzfeldt
Jacob disease. They believed that the fibrils can be distiguished from amyloid; that they represent a
filamentous animal virus causing scrapie and that they are elongated form of prion rods. The most
impotant aspect of these rods is the resemblance to amyloid. Amyloid plaques in the central nervous
system form considered accumulations of waste formed as some sort of a disease process. This
plaques are believed to be aggregations of prions in an almost crystalline state. The production of
antibodies to PrP allowed to demonstrate that amyloid plaques in the brain of scrapie infected
hamsters contain prion proteins. This amyloid plaques have been found on
Alzheimer s disease patients, which leads to the question if prions are related to that disease. Although
it has not been proven yet, the hypothesis is quite reliable. Can prions infectivity be reduced or
eliminated?

Qualia In The Great Gatsby
Time is a critical concern for Fitzgerald s axiological and epistemic narratives through chapter six.
There are many factors to show this, such as Gatsby s value and its similarity to the riddle of qualia ,
as well as what Nick learns and understands about his own, and others value qualia. Gatsby s value is
a topic to be considered when attempting to discuss this thesis. Gatsby appears to value the past, more
specifically the positive, romantic experiences of his past. Fitzgerald provides evidence for this at the
end of chapter six, when Gatsby proclaims I m going to fix everything just the way it was before .
Evidence for this also appears later in the form of two paragraphs describing [o]ne autumn night, five
years before. This may

be related. Things such as Amethyst, Himalayan Salt lamps, Tijuana, Jennifer Aniston, and Peace can
all be related in some way. A theory on how they are all somehow related should be easy to do with
the right research.

stated in the essay could also be related in other ways but not many would make sense. There are

The And The Leaf Blade
Petiole is the support that bind the leaf blade to the stem. It is the passage between the stem and the
leaf blade. Petiole ends where the blades begin. In a typical and carnivorous plant, the petiole is the
channel where the products of photosynthesis are moved from individual leaves to the rest of a plant,
making it an important part of photosynthesis. Lamina or blade, is the leaf tissue that encompasses
mesophyll cells, which contain chloroplasts, making its primary function photosynthesis. The
epidermis below or above the lamina contains stomata to facilitate gas exchange. Moreover, the
lamina in a typical and carnivorous plant contains xylem and phloem that deliver water and nutrients
and carry away the products of photosynthesis. Cuticle is a waxy covering in the epidermal cells.
Cuticles in a typical plant help reduce water loss and effectively decrease the entry of pathogen due to
their waxy secretion. The cuticle not only keep the plant surfaces from becoming wet, it also helps
prevent plants from drying out. In carnivorous plants, the cuticle allows for nutrients to go directly
into the tissues. The interior pitcher walls of Sarracenia lack a cuticle which allows the nutrients from
the pitcher fluids to enter the plant through its specialized gaps in the cuticle. Trichomes on typical
plants are outgrowths of the epidermis, such as hair, scale, or water vesicle and can have a variety of
functions. Root hairs are trichomes that facilitate the absorption of water

War Photographer Poem Analysis
War Photographer by Carol Ann Duffy is about a photographer who is struggling with the
consequences and reality of war. The voice of criticism from the experience of war combined with the
use of poetic devices exposes the theme of war. The poet uses compelling and distressing illustrations
in this poem to enthrall pathos into the reader s feelings. The use of pathos stirs up emotions of
sympathy, sorrow, and despair. Thus, his photographic films are filled with pictures of the genuine
agony caused by the bloodshed of warfare. The rhyme scheme is laid out in four regular six line
stanzas, with each stanza ending with a rhyming couplet. It sets the tone to create a wonderful contrast

images of hardship and suffering endured by those affected by the war.
The war photographer is described as a priest who is ready to intone a mass. The use of euphemism of
the photographer gives the readers a convincing mind of the thoughts and feelings of the
photographer. The word priest suggests that the photographer gets a keen sense of responsibility and
obligation. In this instance, he acts like a messenger showing the suffering societies in war zones

Persuasive Essay On Pet Animals
I have had pets, specially cats, since the day I was born. Some of these cats my family bought from a
family with a litter of kittens they needed to get rid of. Others we got from humane societies. Over the
years, I have had 6 different pet cats, not all at once of course. The most memorable were the ones that
were rescued from a shelter because we saved them from the lonely, tiny cages that they were forced
to live in day in and day out. As we were looking for the most recent additions, I grew tired of looking
in shelters, not because it was time consuming finding the right one, but because of all the sad faces
that stared back at me from the cages. Adopting and rescuing is the better option when it comes to
adding a pet to the family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people may think that only sick animals are in shelters or that shelter animals aren t healthy
enough to adopt, but that s not true. There are sick animals, but they are treated for their illnesses by
veterinarians and watched carefully by volunteers and staff. They are not eligible for adoption until
they pass their vet exam. No matter where you get your pet from, whether it be breeder or shelter,
there is a chance they could get sick at some point in their life.
The adopter will benefit by seeing their new family member thrive and watching their personality
emerge. They will also feel the sense of having saved a life because in a way they did. Older animals
spend approximately 4 times more time in shelters than younger ones, which may make adopting an
older animal seem pointless because you may only get to have them for a few years, but if you do it,
you are giving an animal the most amazing end to their lives and a good home to live out their golden
years in (Madrone). They may even surprise you by living longer than they are expected to. Adopting
an animal from a shelter is also cheaper in the long run. Animals from shelters are spayed or neutered
before they can be adopted. They have also likely visited the vet to get shots and make sure they are
generally in good health. They are usually microchipped. If you were to buy an animal elsewhere, you
would have to pay for all those things yourself, on top of the price

Homework Controversy
Is homework helpful or harmful?
The homework controversy has been going on for a quiet a long time with no end in sight. Homework
is defined as an out of class task assigned to the students to help with practice or prepare for the future.
Homework has been around a long period of time. It has set and traced as a tradition of having
teachers assigning work and students completing it. Parents say that teachers require it and teachers
say s that parents demand to help their kids to finish it. Teachers assign homework to help some
students improve their grade, pass course, re learn the subject you learn in the class, and pass the
course for those of who do not do well on tests and exams. Can homework be considered helpful or
harmful? This interrogation turns into an argument or debate between two reasonable subjects.
Especially for the student s athletes or any students who enjoys after school activities, homework hurts
probably the most. The assignments take away time, which could be spent on doing more productive
actions or spend time with your family or may cause unnecessary stress.
Parents, educators, students and indeed general public have all deeply divided over the homework
issues for a while. When a student s falls asleep in class, he or she is unusually is disciplined for it.
The parents of the younger K 12 students are revolting against the reportedly increasing amounts of
homework assigned their children (David) . The parents are not happy about their kids to do

The Edison Electric Light Company
GENERAL ELECTRIC Thomas Edison the inventor of the light bulb and many other great inventions
founded the Edison Electric Light Company in 1878. His reason for building the company was to have
a place where could house all of his experiments in one place and which would also contained a
workshop to support the inventions he an eventually other inventors were working on. It is a little
known fact that Thomas Edison was not only known to be a great inventor but also a great
businessman. In fact a lot of people of his time regarded him as a genius when it came to both aspects
of his person. With his accumulation of many businesses and the numerous inventions coming out of
the Edison Electric Light Company, Edison decided in 1890 to combine the two aspects of all his
workshops and businesses into one company which he named the Edison General Electric Company.
Two years later in 1892 Edison merged with his primary competitors to form the General Electric
Company. Since its forming the General Electric Company known as GE , has become one of the
world s most powerful and inventive companies to exist. Electric lighting, power transmission,

Bradford And Lowry Assay Lab Report
The Bradford and Lowry assay are two color changing proteins with similar processes. Color changes
of the solution can be measured using a device called a spectrometer. In lab, the two assays can be
used to determine the amount of protein in a solution. This can be done in an experiment by reacting a
specific reagent with amino acids or peptide bonds present in the proteins. This produces a color
change in the solution depending on the amount of peptide or amino acid reactions with the reagents.
This color change can then be measured using a device called a spectrophotometer.

acids arginine and lysine. It under goes changings in acidic conditions ... Show more content on

The type of amino acid sample affected the ability of the reagents to react with the peptide bonds and
amino acids. It also affected the amount of amino acids and peptide bonds in the protein. Each of the
four proteins used in the experiment had the same concentration, which was reflected in the accuracy
of the standards. In relation to the Bradford reagent, the amount of reactions that occurred depended
on the amount of arginine and lysine amino acids present in the protein. In relation to the Lowry
reagent, the amount of reactions that occurred depended on the amount of tryptophan and tyrosine
amino acids in the protein and the number of peptide bonds linking the amino acids. The absorbance
measured in the spectrophotometer was affected also by the differences in amino acid compositions
and the ability of the reagents to react as a result. Since all the protein standards had the same
concentration of 0.5 mg/mL, it allowed for the accurate comparison of the absorbance, mean, and

Your credit standing determines your ability to obtain or not a loan, reasonable utility deposits, cell

Debt Settlement What with coming up with the agreed upon amounts, interest continuing to

Bankruptcy This option removes a good portion of debt entirely, with a few exceptions, such as
student loans and mortgages. However, the filing and attorney fees can be high and are often required
during the process.
Which option is right for you will be determined by your current financial situation. For those who
experienced a temporary reduction in income, but have since returned to near normal income may find

Moral Philosophy Of Thomas Hobbes
In this entry published in an encyclopedia, Lloyd and Sreedhar explain Thomas Hobbes s most
important philosophical thoughts, in particular his thoughts on the state of nature, natural law, and the
social contract. Hobbes believed that the state of nature is a state of war, and to avoid war, humans
must submit to the authority of an absolute sovereign power. The authors also recognize Hobbes s
moral philosophy, and discusses how differences in the interpretation of Hobbes s moral philosophy
can be traced to differing understandings of Hobbes s laws of nature.
Sharon A. Lloyd is a Professor of Philosophy, Law, and Political Science at the University of Southern
California, and has extensive knowledge to the moral and moral theory of philosopher Thomas
Hobbes. Susanne Sreedhar is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Boston University, and shares

In this review published in an academic journal, McClure attempts to clarify the main arguments and
claims Peres Zagorin made in his book Hobbes and the Law of Nature. The author discusses Zagorin s
argument about how natural law acts as a brake on the sovereign s absolutism and imposes a moral
obligation on the sovereign. The review also clarifies what Zagorin aims to point out in his book,
namely Hobbes s originality as a philosopher, and how his theory of natural law fits in in a historical
context.
Christopher S McClure has a PhD in Political Theory from Georgetown University, and have written a
book on Hobbes s philosophy in addition to a number of articles on Hobbes and various other
philosophers.

Cybercrime Is A Serious Issue
What are the main risks to cyber security and are states or non state actors the main challenge? Word
Count 1188
Cybercrime is a serious issue that the international community faces today, with risks such as theft,
espionage, surveillance and sabotage, a very real and accessible threat exists. Cyber security can be
defined as a cyber activity that may threaten the security of a system or its information (Threat report
2015). There are various state and non state actors that both participate, instigate and also defend for
and against these risks to both manage and maintain security and safety for the nation it protects. This

Cyberspace has many vulnerabilities in which malicious actors can use this system in ways it was not
intended to do. There was a variety of ways in which state and non state actors can use these
vulnerabilities such as malicious software to launch a cyber attack such as theft, espionage,
surveillance and sabotage. The effects of a cyber attack can be highly uncertain and unexpected.
Worms and viruses, attack tools, can spread uncontrollably and globally. Cyber attacks are then seen
as a tool for a state to employ as a utility against an adversary to create a bargaining range to prevent
an apparent war (Brantly, 2014).
Cybertheft is the act of using an internet to steal someone s or interfere with someone s use of property
(USlegal.com). This theft can include financial or personal information from the hacking use of a
computer. Malware (Malicious software) has been used increasingly lately becoming a concern for
businesses, governments and individuals. Malware uses backdoor Trojans to capture people s
information covertly. Examples of Cyber thefts include embezzlement, fraud and theft of intellectual
property. The National Computer Security Survey found that in 2005 of 7818 businesses surveyed,
67% detected at least one cybercrime and 11% of those detected Cybertheft. Macdonald and
Fitzgerald (2014) states that the most common type of fraud is embezzlement, being over 35% of

Moral Panic And Its Effects On Society
Moral panic is a condition, episode, person or group of persons emerges to become defined as a threat
to societal values and interests and its nature is presented in a stylized and stereotypical fashion by the
mass media; the moral barricades are manned by editors, bishops, politicians and other right thinking
people; socially accredited experts pronounce their diagnoses and solutions; ways of coping are
evolved or resorted to; the condition then disappears, submerges or deteriorates and becomes more
visible (Cohen, 1973, p.9). This means moral panic is an exaggeration or distortion of some perceived
deviant behaviour by the media. In contemporary context, moral panics are not just one off events, it is
their reappearance that confirms their status as moral disturbances of any significant order (Marsh and
Melville, 2011, p.7). Basically moral panics are social issues that relate to real fears about a particular
behaviour such as paedophilia due to the exaggeration of media influence. Throughout the ages, media
and society have been concerned over children. Instead of youth as folk devils, children nowadays
serve as the victims of folk devils (Critcher, 2002, p.532). With these trigger events popping up,
stereotypes are gradually formed. In recent British history, Paedophile had become one of the most
terrifying folk devils (Jenkins, 1992, p.99). Paedophile behaviour is a moral panic one legal case and
the panic is generally fuelled by the sensationalism of media in

Effects Of Overpopulation
With the fast paced and growing world that we live in today, we are overpopulating, over consuming
and a significant amount of our resources are being used up. Malthusian focuses on bringing
importance to the issue of overpopulation and how it strains many aspects of our lives such as the
environment, and economy. Therefore, Thomas Robert Malthus theory of overpopulation is a prime
example of the dangers overpopulation can have on our planet if there are no measures taken to ensure
that there will be a sustainable future. For instance, we are going through a crisis in many parts of the
world where overpopulation is an issue and is resulting in poverty. Additionally, many countries are
suffering economically due to the very limited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also present in Kenya since AIDS and HIV are a critical issue in the country and it doesn t help
when families are having a lot of children that they cannot provide for. Northern India is an example
needs help controlling their population since the negative aspects are going to continue to increase
overtime if it continues to grow at the current rates. China and the one child policy is an example of
how population control helped keep the country more sustainable. It s crucial to keep in mind that the
more people that there are, the more resources are needed and is very difficult to create a sustainable
society when the members are having many children that they cannot provide for.
Furthermore, there are inconsistent population to food growth in many countries and this can be very
damaging to the economy. For instance, there has been a rapid growing population in India but
agricultural production has slowed down. Which means that there is a scramble for increasingly scarce
resources. This does not only affect the economy exports but it also negatively impacts the citizen of
the country since it can get more expensive for large families to provide food for their children. This is
very similar to Thomas Robert Malthus theory of overpopulation since he stated that there would be a
gap between population and food sources since population would significantly outweigh food sources.
In addition to that, many developing

Tax Taxes And Income Taxes
Everyone gets frustrated with income taxes and everyone complains that they are paying more than
enough, but who really pays more in federal income taxes? Having a progressive tax system; meaning
that the more money you earn, the more you will have to pay in taxes; would lead to the rich paying
for most of the taxes and not the poor. Unfortunately, many people do not realize some of the
problems with the tax system itself that offsets the balance as well as the results when it comes to
taxes. There are many unseen things when looking at no more than just the statistics of who pays the

Many taxes are regressive, meaning they take a larger share of income from poor and middle income
families than they do from the rich. (2015, 3) Along with the federal income taxes, Americans pay for
state and local taxes also, seven states are excluded from the state taxes. Federal income taxes take up
the majority of what Americans pay in taxes, calculating for two thirds of all taxes paid by Americans.
Altogether, forty three states levy individual income taxes, forty one tax wage and salary income, two
states specifically tax dividend and investment income while seven states levy no state income taxes.
The seven states that have no state income taxes includes: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota,
Texas, Washington and Wyoming. (Fact Check, [3]) Federal income tax and local sales taxes would be
the only source of taxes these states would need to pay. Unlike the federal income taxes, the state
taxes are regressive meaning that they take more income from low and middle income families and
individuals rather than from the wealthy. Three of the most regressive states for state income taxes are
Washington as number one, Florida in second and Texas ranked number three with the low income
families paying twelve and a half percent and the wealthy paying only three percent. Taxes that are
truly causing a problem would be the state income taxes, which are

The Independence Of Poland During The World War II
Poles tend to view their nation as becoming nationalistic and heroic after the Second World War. In
Polish cultural memory, the struggle of the newly independent nation after the First World War is

is an achievement for those who remember their heritage and culture. The country existed over one

Once it gained its independence, however, the new nation had to face the aftermath of the Great War.

Poles were a force within the countries which governed their territories. Poles were recognized as a

The Thought Of Owning Or Bringing Home A Cute Adorable
The thought of owning or bringing home a cute adorable puppy, or kitten, for the first time can be an

attention from children and their owners, but what happens when the pets grow and get older? Not
every pet is brought to or born into a responsible home. Some pets that are no longer wanted, are left
behind or dumped out of town because it is easier than finding them a new home. According to PETA,

also depends on the size and breed of the dog; large dogs can carry more puppies. So, it s important to
have pets spayed and neutered, at least after 2 litters. According to Hill County Paw Pals, the root of
pet overpopulation stems for irresponsible people who allow their pets to remain unsterilized, run at
large, and to breed at will. Lately, Raymondville has had an increase of strays, mostly dogs that roam
around from house to house. It used to be just out of town where people would leave or dump their

What Is Violation Of Philip Malloy s First Amendment Rights
Would you believe me if I told you a child was suspended for humming the national anthem? In the

Malloy s rights were violated because, he has the right to freedom of speech, he was suspended from

things. Philip was asked to stop humming when the national anthem was being played. This violated
his first amendment rights because he was not allowed to express which is restricting his freedom of

The Catholic Views Of The Roman Catholic Church
The Roman Catholic Church has consistently condemned abortion the direct and purposeful taking of
the life of the unborn child. In principle, Catholic Christians believe that all life is sacred from
conception until natural death, and the taking of innocent human life, whether born or unborn, is
morally wrong. The Church teaches, Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the
creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole
end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance
claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being ( Donum vitae, 5).
The respect for the sacredness of life in the womb originates in Christianity s Jewish roots. The
ancient Jewish world was much different from the surrounding cultures of Palestine where infanticide,
infant sacrifice and abortion were not uncommon, and in some cases prevalent. For the Jewish people
of those times and orthodox Jews to this day, all human life has as its author the one God whose
creative power produces the child in the mother s womb and brings it step by step to full life. The Old
Testament revelation, which the Church inherited and accepted, gives clear evidence that life in the
womb was considered as sacred. Moses proclaimed, When you hearken to the voice of the Lord, your
God, all these blessings will come upon you and overwhelm you: May you be blessed in the city,

Family Systems Theory Paper
Family Systems
Ja Keitha Brown
Liberty University
Family systems play an intricate role in human development for children. To understand how it all
works together, family must be defined. According to Merriam Webster, a family is defined as a group
of people living under one roof and usually under one head. (2015). One person could interpret this
definition, as a family being mother, father and child or children however, to someone else that
definition could be completely different. Their definition of family could include grandparents, aunts,
uncles or cousins. There will also be children that grow up in same sex families that will define their
family system differently.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind provides a good example of the possibility of presenting
philosophical concepts in a fictional feature film. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is science
fiction based romantic and comedy film written by Charlie Kaufman and is directed by Michel
Gondry. The film is based on romance and mainly the scientific aspect to explore and flourish the
nature of the human memory. The film was presented to the viewers in March 2004. The film is made
closer to originality, something like troubling memories forgotten by the mind of the person but still it

we are alone and making assumptions about matter, the film is based on such phenomenon and is a

Women In The 1900 s
Tennis Clothes for Women in the 1800 s
Women have been playing tennis since tennis was originated. Back in 1874, women played tennis, but
they only played mixed doubles, which is when men and women play together as partners. The clothes
women wore back then is way different then what we wear nowadays. Back then, women had to wear
a bustle skirt and a corset. This wasn t really the ideal clothing to wear on a sweltering day while
playing tennis. This is probably why a woman playing in the Wimbledon, a tennis tournament which
began in 1877 as a fundraiser, fainted in the second set on that hot, sunny day. This incident probably
occurred because that women was wearing tight and hot clothes while playing tennis, but instead of
taking this incident as a reason to change women s clothing, this incident became one of the reasons
why today women play less sets than men, which was one of the reasons why they got less prize
money than men.

Lincoln Vs Calhoun
As with Calhoun, Lincoln s notion of the Union and state sovereignty also ties into the principle of
majority rule. However, Lincoln has a far different opinion than Calhoun, arguing that within the
Union, the people, not the states, are the sovereign body, founded on the principle of majority rule.
Furthermore, in Lincoln s opinion, if you have a government based on majority rule, secession cannot
possibly be considered legal or constitutional. While Calhoun fears majority rule will lead to tyranny
and the infringement of the minority s liberty, Lincoln believes it is the foundation of our government
and protects majority will from suppression by a smaller party. Discussing this point further, Lincoln
writes, Unanimity is impossible; the rule of the minority, as a permanent arrangement, is wholly
inadmissible; so that, rejecting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All rules, laws, or amendments will produce a majority and minority opinion. Ultimately, while
Calhoun argues that majority rule leads to majority tyranny, Lincoln claims that secession allows
tyranny of the minority by allowing a small group of people to undermine the entire government.
Furthermore, because government is based on majority rule, secession violates both the Union and
Constitution. As Lincoln notes, if all the States, save one, should assert the power to drive that one out
of the Union, it is presumed the whole class of seceding politicians would at once deny the power, and
denounce the act as the greatest outrage against State rights (Lincoln 252). Lincoln points out the
hypocrisy in Calhoun s argument, claiming that if the roles were reversed and the majority was trying
to drive out the minority, advocates of secession would be outraged. As a whole, Lincoln is a large
critic of the views of Calhoun, and presents arguments that are polar opposites of his ideology
regarding the Union and majority

Stock Engine Essay
Stock engines are widely used for research purposes as the base engines for further research and
development of their components, optimization of their engine management and related experimental
work. Experimental work on an ICE usually requires changes in the engine control unit (ECU) data.
The cost of the software and the required hardware for ECU connection is beyond the budget of most
institutions, such as universities and small research centres. There are many other programmable
ECUs used mainly in motorsport, but these are not suited for research purposes because they have
limited programming capabilities. Developing an ECU based on NI CompactRIO equipment was
chosen as a solution which is both cost and time effective. The NI ECU ... Show more content on

An ECU defined by (Arun Manohar) [26] is an electronic device, essentially a computer, in an internal
combustion engine that reads several sensors in the engine and uses the information to control the fuel
injection and ignition systems of the engine. Arun Manohar definition does not include that an ECU
also controls aspects of an engine like air/fuel ratio, idle speed, valve control and variable valve timing
[1]. Controlling an engine via electronic means allows an engines operation to be controlled in greater
detail, allowing greater fuel efficiency, better power and responsiveness. Modern ECUs use a
microprocessor which can process the inputs from the engine sensors in real time. An ECU contains
the hardware and software (firmware). Hardware consists of electronic components on a printed
circuit board (PCB). The main component on this circuit board is a micro controller chip. The
software is stored in the microcontroller on the PCB, or flash memory so the CPU can be re
programmed by uploading updated code. Sensors located on the engine send data to the ECU and
within the software exists look up tables, from the inputs the ECU is able to map the required output
based on the input data from the lookup table.
The research report titled Engine Control Unit based on the NI CompactRIO Platform highlights that
it is possible to develop an ECU from the NI CompactRIO hardware to control and change an internal
combustion engine parameters.[25]

Speech On Safety Of Students And Teachers
The Safety of Students and Teachers All around the world thousands of people are dying from selfless
acts of terrorists along with misunderstood children taking their lives along with the people around
them in their school. In one school police took 20 minutes to show up to the scene, why not have this
be stopped sooner? What can we do about this situation to make it better? Armed guards should be
placed in all schools around the world. First off, school shootings and threats are becoming more and
more common in schools around the world. Many children and teachers are being shot, many dying
and others with very serious injuries when they have done nothing wrong. Wayne LaPierre from U.S.
News states The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. I find this
statement true because most people that have a gun and see a police officer with a gun will get rid of
theirs because they fear the outcome. Secondly, the armed guards are only told to use their weapons in
situations like school shootings. Some parents and other citizens are fearing that the armed guards are
using their weapons to threaten the students and scare them. Mo Canady, Executive director of the
National Association of school resource officers stated We re not talking about officers walking
around with this strapped on all day long, but certainly to have reasonable access to defend against a
really bad situation This quote proves that officers aren t using the weapons

Comparison Of The BookThe Stepford Wives And Get Out
Georgios Araujo
Dr. Andy Schopp
ENG_251
17 November 2017
Technology can be our friend or our worst enemy. In Forbes The Stepford Wives and in Peele s film,
Get Out, both directors have a central idea of reconstructing our society for it to best suited for us, as
individuals. Unless you knew going in that both of these movies were in the genre of Horror, you
wouldn t be expecting it, more in The Stepford Wives than in Get Out. However the interesting part
about both of these works is that they both have an oddly similar theory behind them, and it leads the
viewer to believe that The Stepford Wives could have been an inspiration for Get Out, unless you
already knew that after hearing Peele s interview stating that it was. Both of the works use technology
and science in a way that by the end of both works the viewer is shocked, at least I was.
For some brief background, in Forbes The Stepford Wives, Joanna Eberhardt and her two children are
uprooted from the busy bustling streets of Manhattan to the quiet streets of Stepford. Where the crime
rate is zero and so is the poverty rate, her husband insists this is the best place to raise a family. But
almost immediately, like an instinct, Joanna is uncertain of the women living in Stepford, she feels as
though they are living on a different planet. They are overly obsessed with keeping a clean house, and
pleasing their husbands, all whom are members of the Men s Association. All of their husbands are
executives and very

Greek Religion And Public Life In Ancient Greece
The Greek people had many things they were proud of for evolving as their era began to pick up
steam. The things they were well known for were their religious beliefs and their philosophies.
Though both were pivotal for the Greek people, these two areas were very different.
Greek Religion To the Greeks, religion, was a major part of their private and public life every day.
Greek religion was big on public rituals, community festivals, showed great community pride, and
was big on their heritage. Their religion was more public than private. Their religion was divided up
into two categories. The Olympian deities whom they felt dwelled in the skies or mountaintops.
Olympian religion felt that the deities intercede in daily activities, and that

The first system of federalism is dual federalism. Dual federalism is the state government has their own responsibilities and the national government has their own responsibilities. Dual federalism was mainly based around the Tenth Amendment which states that anything that isn t in the Constitution are reserved to the states. It is kind of like a tug of war, the state governments are on one side and the federal government on the other. Both red and white meat are good sources of protein and provide many beneficial nutrients that help with body function. Protein is important in supporting the immune system and necessary for human consumption to maintain a healthy balance. Many humans commonly consume meat as a source of protein. In deciding what to consume, it is important to choose wisely to avoid risk of negative health effects. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike white meat, red meat is suggested to cause many health problems due to the higher levels of saturated fat and cholesterol. These high amounts of cholesterol can increase risk of the buildup of plaque. Red meat contains a compound called carnitine that is linked to the clogging of the arteries. Red meat is associated with a increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and colorectal cancer. Red meat may also contain harmful hormones that increase risk of breast cancer. Although the iron present is more easily absorbed, heme iron has been linked to cancer. Red meat has even been linked to increased risk of death. According to a Harvard Study conducted in March 2012, consuming a daily serving of processed meat increased death risk by 20 percent...while a once per day serving of unprocessed red meat was tied to a 13 percent increase in overall mortality risk (Jaslow). Another issue is that when grilling, heterocylic amines, compounds linked to cancer, are released. As stated, processed meat is unhealthier for consumption. Pork often comes in the form of processed meat which is associated with increased risk for cancer. An additional problem is the harboring of bacteria in meat. Comparing Tale Of Genji And Ariwara No Narihira The kishu ryūritan , or the exile of the young noble , is a recurring motif in Classical Japanese literature where a young god or aristocrat undergoes a severe trial in a distant and hostile land as punishment for a previous transgression (Haruo, 1987). With both the protagonists of the Tale of Genji (Hikaru Genji) and the Tales of Ise (the anonymous man ) embarking on self imposed exiles, this essay will examine the similarities and differences between the experiences of the two characters, as well as the Heian socio political context that this literary trope reveals. According to Ivy (1995), the theme of the wandering stranger god is one of the most important literary...motifs in Japan . In the Tale of Genji, Genji becomes amorously involved with one of Kokiden s younger sisters, Oborozukiyo, who has been promised to the future Emperor Suzaku (Bowring, 2004). Muir referred to this valley to Yosemite Valley because of its glamorous views. The name of this valley is derived from Miwok word hatchhatchie, meaning edible grass (tchistory). Hetchy Hetch was used shortly after as a reservoir and water system for the Bay Area. Hetch Hetchy Valley is located in the Yosemite National Park of California. Water from Hetch Hetchy was delivered through the damming of the Tuolumne River at around 3,800 feet elevation; it travels through complex tunnels through the Sierra Nevada. At the time, San Francisco received water support from Lake Eleanor, but both the lake and the valley was demanded. There was much criticism to set up this dam by many conservatives and Muir himself. The proposal finally passed in 1913 even after much opposition from all over the country. This Hetch Hetchy project began and the O Shaughnessy Dam was built. The construction of this dam cost $100 million and 68 lives. This dam streamed water over 160 miles to reach the Bay Area. This project was further improved in 1928 when San Francisco voters approved of the $24 million payment, which was completed in 1934. San Francisco voters decided to give the Hetch Hetchy project another improvement in 1947; $25 million was invested for a second pipeline from the reservoir. In 1961, over $100 million in bonds was used to develop and expand the project. In 1970, the Sierra Club wanted the restoration of the valley and the removing of reservoirs from both Eleanor Dam and O Shaughnessy Dam. This idea and proposal was rejected in 1988 with the reason that it would cost too much funding to return Hetch Hetchy to its original form and would bring about the water problem in the Bay Area. The movement to recover the valley was firm as Restore Hetch Hetchy, a non profit organization with Sierra Club members and other environmental organizations, was pushing studies to find an alternative and ways to ... In this era, technological developments made in contraception led to colossal advancement in the quest for finding solutions to the previously mentioned problems. The results of these advancements came in the form of the contraception pill approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1957 and the development of the latex condom in 1920. Prions are known to cause many diseases involved with nervous systems like the brain. They are the ones that cause the well known mad cow disesase in Britain and scrapie for animals. They believed that the fibrils can be distiguished from amyloid; that they represent a filamentous animal virus causing scrapie and that they are elongated form of prion rods. The most impotant aspect of these rods is the resemblance to amyloid. Amyloid plaques in the central nervous system form considered accumulations of waste formed as some sort of a disease process. This plaques are believed to be aggregations of prions in an almost crystalline state. The production of antibodies to PrP allowed to demonstrate that amyloid plaques in the brain of scrapie infected hamsters contain prion proteins. Gatsby s value is a topic to be considered when attempting to discuss this thesis. Gatsby appears to value the past, more specifically the positive, romantic experiences of his past. In a typical and carnivorous plant, the petiole is the channel where the products of photosynthesis are moved from individual leaves to the rest of a plant, making it an important part of photosynthesis. Lamina or blade, is the leaf tissue that encompasses mesophyll cells, which contain chloroplasts, making its primary function photosynthesis. The epidermis below or above the lamina contains stomata to facilitate gas exchange. Moreover, the lamina in a typical and carnivorous plant contains xylem and phloem that deliver water and nutrients and carry away the products of photosynthesis. Cuticle is a waxy covering in the epidermal cells. Cuticles in a typical plant help reduce water loss and effectively decrease the entry of pathogen due to their waxy secretion. The cuticle not only keep the plant surfaces from becoming wet, it also helps prevent plants from drying out. In carnivorous plants, the cuticle allows for nutrients to go directly into the tissues. The interior pitcher walls of Sarracenia lack a cuticle which allows the nutrients from the pitcher fluids to enter the plant through its specialized gaps in the cuticle. Some of these cats my family bought from a family with a litter of kittens they needed to get rid of. Others we got from humane societies. Over the years, I have had 6 different pet cats, not all at once of course. The most memorable were the ones that were rescued from a shelter because we saved them from the lonely, tiny cages that they were forced to live in day in and day out. As we were looking for the most recent additions, I grew tired of looking in shelters, not because it was time consuming finding the right one, but because of all the sad faces that stared back at me from the cages. No matter where you get your pet from, whether it be breeder or shelter, there is a chance they could get sick at some point in their life. The adopter will benefit by seeing their new family member thrive and watching their personality emerge. They will also feel the sense of having saved a life because in a way they did. Older animals spend approximately 4 times more time in shelters than younger ones, which may make adopting an older animal seem pointless because you may only get to have them for a few years, but if you do it, you are giving an animal the most amazing end to their lives and a good home to live out their golden years in (Madrone). They may even surprise you by living longer than they are expected to. Adopting an animal from a shelter is also cheaper in the long run. Animals from shelters are spayed or neutered before they can be adopted. They have also likely visited the vet to get shots and make sure they are generally in good health. This produces a color change in the solution depending on the amount of peptide or amino acid reactions with the reagents. Altogether, forty three states levy individual income taxes, forty one tax wage and salary income, two states specifically tax dividend and investment income while seven states levy no state income taxes. The seven states that have no state income taxes includes: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. (Fact Check, [3]) Federal income tax and local sales taxes would be the only source of taxes these states would need to pay. Unlike the federal income taxes, the state taxes are regressive meaning that they take more income from low and middle income families and individuals rather than from the wealthy. Three of the most regressive states for state income taxes are Washington as number one, Florida in second and Texas ranked number three with the low income families paying twelve and a half percent and the wealthy paying only three percent. The Thought Of Owning Or Bringing Home A Cute Adorable The thought of owning or bringing home a cute adorable puppy, or kitten, for the first time can be an emotional and exciting time for families. According to Hill County Paw Pals, the root of pet overpopulation stems for irresponsible people who allow their pets to remain unsterilized, run at large, and to breed at will. Lately, Raymondville has had an increase of strays, mostly dogs that roam around from house to house. • 32. The Catholic Views Of The Roman Catholic Church The Roman Catholic Church has consistently condemned abortion the direct and purposeful taking of the life of the unborn child. In principle, Catholic Christians believe that all life is sacred from conception until natural death, and the taking of innocent human life, whether born or unborn, is morally wrong. The Church teaches, Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being ( Donum vitae, 5). The respect for the sacredness of life in the womb originates in Christianity s Jewish roots. The ancient Jewish world was much different from the surrounding cultures of Palestine where infanticide, infant sacrifice and abortion were not uncommon, and in some cases prevalent. For the Jewish people of those times and orthodox Jews to this day, all human life has as its author the one God whose creative power produces the child in the mother s womb and brings it step by step to full life. The Old Testament revelation, which the Church inherited and accepted, gives clear evidence that life in the womb was considered as sacred. Furthermore, in Lincoln s opinion, if you have a government based on majority rule, secession cannot possibly be considered legal or constitutional. While Calhoun fears majority rule will lead to tyranny and the infringement of the minority s liberty, Lincoln believes it is the foundation of our government and protects majority will from suppression by a smaller party. An ECU defined by (Arun Manohar) [26] is an electronic device, essentially a computer, in an internal combustion engine that reads several sensors in the engine and uses the information to control the fuel injection and ignition systems of the engine. Arun Manohar definition does not include that an ECU also controls aspects of an engine like air/fuel ratio, idle speed, valve control and variable valve timing [1]. Controlling an engine via electronic means allows an engines operation to be controlled in greater detail, allowing greater fuel efficiency, better power and responsiveness. Modern ECUs use a microprocessor which can process the inputs from the engine sensors in real time. An ECU contains the hardware and software (firmware). Hardware consists of electronic components on a printed circuit board (PCB). The main component on this circuit board is a micro controller chip. The software is stored in the microcontroller on the PCB, or flash memory so the CPU can be re programmed by uploading updated code.
