I am surrounded by both friends and strangers - this is a painting class where you can drink wine and socialize while you paint. There is a stage in front of me with the instructor and her blank canvas (a camera magnifies it to a larger screen so that all of the patrons can see) and a picture of what we will be painting is located above her canvas (an impressionist painting of a park in Paris at night)

BREATH: My breath is rapid because I am both excited and talking to all of my friends.....as well as nervous....I am NOT artistic!

- 1. Ansleigh Oakley MAJOR: NURSING I AM A WOMAN FILLED WITH LOVE, COMMITMENT, AND MOTIVATION.
- 2. Favorite assignments The group scavenger hunt: I really enjoyed this “assignment” because it allowed me to get to know some of my class mates, and it forced me to find out what this campus offers. For example, I had no idea where the math hub was. When I actually needed to go there for my algebra class, I knew right where to go. The discussion over how to create a proper resume. This was very helpful because no one has really ever gone over what a resume is and how to do it. I really learned a lot and it gave me plenty of insight. It was interesting to learn the dos and donts to resumes. The discussions we had after sharing our favorite quotes in the chapter. I enjoyed this because many of the quotes were insightful and had lots of meaning. Also, it gave me a look into who my classmates were. Those quotes had to have some sort of meaning to them, and it was cool to try to understand why they chose such quotes.
- 3. Favorite journals The self assessment. This was one of my favorites because it allowed me to basically score myself on my strengths and weaknesses. This was helpful because it gave me a starting point for my first real semester in college. Because of this journal, I was able to work on what I needed to and become self aware. The journal where we discussed emotional awareness. I enjoyed this journal because it was interesting how it made me feel to right about things. By just writing about something sad, I instantly became sad. By writing about something that made me happy, I instantly became happy. This was important because it proves that controlling your thoughts allows you to control your emotions. The inner critic vs. inner defender journal. This was one of my favorite topics in general, but this journal in particular because it was fun to see how these two things work against each other. I believe that it was beneficial because it shows that in certain situations you need these things, because it is never good to beat yourself up, nor over-defend yourself.
- 4. Favorite week Though cliché, week one was probably my favorite. It not only opened my mind up to the class, but I definitely enjoyed when you separated us into teams. It really forced us to come out of our shell and get to know our teammates. I think without this first week, the whole semester would have been off course. None of us would have probably felt near as comfortable with participating. (I also enjoyed the week of Halloween because you brought us candy :,)
- 5. LESSONS!!!! USE YOUR CREATOR MINDSET DO NOT BE AFRAID TO PARTICIPATE BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF AND REALIZE THE AREAS IN YOUR LIFE THAT NEED WORK
