This document provides information on the PMY 3310 General Pharmacognosy course offered at the University of Zambia School of Medicine Department of Pharmacy. The 3-credit, 120-hour course introduces pharmacy students to therapeutically active components from plants and natural sources. Topics include the anatomy, physiology, and phytochemistry of medicinal plants, as well as naturally-derived drugs and commercialization. Assessment includes tests, assignments, laboratory reports, and a final exam. The course aims to provide understanding of natural drug sources and components to support pharmacy training.
