Kim Richards Case Study
Kim Richards ex husband Monty Brinson has now lost his battle with cancer. Monty put up a
good fight for quite some time, but tonight TMZ shared the news that at the age of 58 Monty has
passed away. Kim Richards ex husband has been fighting lung cancer, but he has been doing it
with Kim by his side and supporting him the entire way. Kim and Monty were only married for
three years and it was a long time ago. Kim got married to Monty Brinson in 1985 and they
divorced in 1988. That didn t keep them from being close though. These past few years while
Monty was battling cancer, Kim Richards actually lived with him and was there to help him out
with his treatments and when he wasn t feeling well. The two were constantly posting pictures with

Kim was by his side during the entire time. This has been very hard on Kim Richards. Someone
close to Kim Richards spoke out revealing that they were worried about Kim and her sobriety
when something happened to Monty. Here is what they had to say about it. Kim has been by
Monty s side since he was diagnosed and when he passes she is going to be devastated. Everyone
is worried that his death will compromise her sobriety, since she is just so newly sober. Kim
Richards actually just celebrated 60 days of being sober. Monty Brinson actually lived with
Rick and Kathy Hilton for a while before he went to the hospital last time. This is Kim Richards
sister and brother in law and they have been nothing but supportive of him. Brinson was put in the
hospital recently and they assumed he wouldn t make it home, which turned out to be the case.
Up until his last day on this earth Kim Richards ex husband Monty Brinson was able to stay

How Did Chinese Technology Change Over Europe
China enjoyed a number of technological advances over Europe in the period running up to the
15th century, most significantly the development of gunpowder, compasses and printing. These
inventions revolutionised European technology facilitating exploration, conquest and literature.
Unlike in Europe, these inventions were not put to such use by the Chinese who held a fairly
isolationist view. Meaning that they did not involve themselves in trade to nearly the same degree
as many Europeans. In this essay I will be assessing Chinas technological lead over Europebefore
the 16th century and commenting on the extent to which they held this lead. I will then go on to
consider the main events, which took place in China, and particularly in Europe... Show more

This can be contributed to the fact that China did not utilize their inventions to nearly the same
extent as Europe. Lynda Shaffer is to a broad extent in agreement with this as she argues that
Needham s question can thus be understood to mean, Why didn t China use gunpowder to
destroy feudal walls? Why didn t China use the compass to cross the Pacific and discover
America, or to find an all sea route to Western Europe? (Lynda Shaffer, World History Bulletin,
Fall/Winter 1986/87). This can broadly be explained by the fact that long historical unity of
China, covering a large land mass, meant that it was mostly self sufficient. China did not need
the outside world, which was inferior anyway . (Roy Bailey, EC120, week 3). Moreover, China
was never exposed to the fiercely competitive states system of Europe (Roy Bailey, EC120, week
3), which would have demanded China to remove itself from an isolationist position in order for
the country to survive. In contrast to this, European countries took advantage of the newly
discovered technologies. The use of gunpowder in Europe made castles and other such structures
associated with the medieval period obsolete, as castles were no matches for something, which
could destroy their walls. This helped to free Europe from its feudal

Energy Price Volatility With Regards Natural Gas
Executive Summary
In this paper, energy price volatility with regards natural gas will be expounded on the essentials
of market requisites. The report explains a number of factors that lead to price differences in the
market and price volatility implications to oil and gas companies and industry. Supply and demand
factors play a major role in shaping natural gas prices but factors such as war, environment and
OPEC contribute to price differentials. Value at Risk (VaR) evaluates and quantifies risk for the
industry as a risk management tool.
Introduction
Global economy is driven by energy markets. Energy does not only play a significant role in
consumer products but also an important input in nearly all the industries. (Efimova O. and ... Show

Finally, recommendations and a conclusion made on natural gas price volatility based on the
analysis and information discussed in this report.
Overview
Huntington H. G. 2009 mentions that recent changes in natural gas market are attributed to market
forces and organizations operating in the industry. As the industry develops into new end user
markets and producers, prices adjust according to the changes in the market.
Due to the key roles of energy influence on global economic welfare, pricing is fundamental for
correct and efficient choice of appropriate energy source. (Davis L. W. and Muehlegger E. 2010).
Energy Information Administration (EIA) 2014 says the total gas consumption within industrial
and electric power sectors in the U.S. will improve from 25.6 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) in 2012 to
31.6Tcf in 2040. Natural gas usage escalates in all sectors apart from residential due to population
movement to warmer areas (EIA 2014) figure 1. For instance, in 2010 approximately 25% of
energy consumed in the U.S. came from natural gas (Lv X. and Shan X. 2013). This indicates
prices may adjust to demand changes accompanying its usage.

Conch In Lord Of The Flies
Symbols are important to many people because they are a representation of their individuality. In
the novel Lord of The Flies , the conch shell is a representation of leadership and the society. The
scene where the conch is used to take turns speaking throughout the book is one of the most
important scenes. It prevents the tribe from getting out of control, plus it was a great way for them
to understand each other. The conch also displays order through the rule that you must have the
conch to speak in an assembly or meeting. The reason for this rule is that we can t have everybody
talking at once. We ll have to have hands up like at school. Therefore it won t be messy. At first
everyone thinks that this is the best method to maintain order... Show more content on

They all participated with the conch. As Ralph and Jack have fifty percent leadership each.
They have all the power over the conch. Their goal was to control the fire, food, and have
everyone in control. They are the ones that can speak first or over take it. However Ralph has a
bit more power because during the voting for leader, Ralph won until he felt bad and offered his
opponent Jack half. Jack is eager to make rules and punish those who break them, although he
consistently breaks them him self when he needs to further his own interest. As jack with half
of the leadership, he is in charge of the hunters. This being one of his main interests, it begins
with the desire of meat and builds to the overwhelming urge to master and kill other living
creatures. The conch was also associated with Piggy. Piggy was the one that discovered it with
Ralph. Piggy was the one who showed Ralph how to blow it and recognized what shell the conch
was. S right, it s a shell! I had seen one like that before. On someone s back wall. A conch he
called it. He used to blow it and then his mum would come. Its ever so valuable. Also, it seemed
that piggy and the conch were linked together because in a way, they died at the same time.
When the conch was destroyed, the tribe civilized world has also become wrecked. One of the
boys was killed by a fire, which got out of control and swept through the island. More causes had

An Ethnographic Study On American Ethnic Identity
African Americans have been suffering a lot through continuous involvement in their lives and
activities since they were treated as slaves in the past. Today, prejudice against Black people is still
a complicated issue. In examining how people in a small group interpret and reinterpret their
identities, my thesis for this ethnographic study aims to illuminate how the ethnographic record
provides claims about African American ethnic identity in order to counter the impact of
discrimination.
I have figured out that attendant observation is beneficial to immerse myself into a community, in
order to gain a better information about the intricacies and inner psychology which could not be
obtained from literature or any other methods where information is simply provided. The selected
informant is known as a sample and is highly important for the research that characterizes an
ethnographic survey.
In addition, I will draw on my Profile essay where I interviewed one of my professors. The person
that I wrote about might be considered one of the most accurate model of how to deal with daily
experiences as an African American.
This essay is based on my personal experience at a Black Student Association. At this conference,
the speakers spoke about issues that African American deal with today. During the conference, I
was figuring out how much Black people have been going through from their daily activities. The
conference held by Black people gives me impression that I can never

Far Right Extremism
Far right extremism in the United States contains a large number of ideas and beliefs. The term far
right extremism is commonly used to refer to a network of groups who contain a combination of
anti government, racist, anti semitic, homophobic, anti abortion, and anti immigrant beliefs. For
example, the Ku Klux Klan, Christian Identity sects, Aryan Nation, as well as the creativity
movement are all far right extremist groups that support violence, separation, deportation, and
immigration restrictions of nonwhites so as to maintain the purity of the white race (Dyson).
The attacks of September 11, 2001 had a large impact on the United States, and marked the

The Factors Of Adolescent Behavior

Love is the answer/ It s the only thing that everybody needs A. Blacc
The presence of love plays a distinct role on society. The amount of compassion and support given
greatly affects an individual s outcome in life. The story told in Aloe Blacc s music video Love Is
The Answer centers on two teenage brothers who become separated after their parents divorce.
With each son residing with one parent, the video shows a contrast of the lives of the boys. The
message of the video suggests that family life, social environments, and love are factors of
adolescent behavior. The music video uses imagery, videography techniques, and lyrics to convey its

The video also captures scenes of the father s son attending a good school. The neatly maintained
lockers and hallways, student computers, football field, and suburbia looking teenagers conveys
the thought that he has a quality education that perhaps teaches moral ethics to their students.
This son is also seen dedicating himself to football. The scenes highlight his passion and hard
work as he is seen practicing on the football field. The second son s quality of life is not the same
as his brother s. His mother is rarely seen in the music video. She only makes one appearance
with her son. Her short appearance shows her yelling at him as he lies on the couch, holding a
football. This son attends a school with damaged lockers and enters a classroom that appears to be
a rundown portable building. Most of the students have rebellious looks on their faces and show no
interest in their education. He spends his free time gambling and drinking with rebellious people.
The contrast in the lifestyles of the two brothers suggests that the factors of behavior vary in each
situation. Although social behavior is learned by youth through a variety of sources, including
peers, school, the family and the neighborhood, it is the family that is the single most important
influence on youth socialization (Donegan 1996). Both sons are highly influenced by the parent
they live with. Judging by the stern facial expressions seen on the mother s son throughout

Active Versus Passive Learning Essays
Most students these days just think they have to go to class, pay attention, write some notes and
they will do fine. That may be true for some people but if they were to use a more active learning
approach instead of passive, they could do even better. Active learning is a learning approach that
gets the student more involved which helps lead to a better understanding and idea of the material
being learned (VickyRN, 2009). Passive learningis the common classroom learning approach
where you listen to a teacher and read information (VickyRN, 2009). If students were more aware
of the benefits of active learning and the difference between active and passive learning, they could
achieve higher academic results and may even enjoy it more. Many... Show more content on

Expert learners are people who know their learning goals and do their best to reach those goals
(O Brien Moran, 2012). They start early, come up with strategies to help them achieve their
goals and are often satisfied with their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). Novice learners however,
have no goals, they cram the night before a test and just do not give a full effort into their
learning and are usually disappointed with their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). Expert learners
often engage in self regulated learning. Someone who is a self regulated learner is said to begin
with setting goals, planning how to achieve those goals taking into account their time constraints
as well as their strength and weaknesses related to that specific learning task (O Brien Moran,
2012). Once they set their goals and have a strategy, they carry on while monitoring their results
(O Brien Moran, 2012). If their strategies are working well for them, they continue on, but if they
aren t, they adjust until they find something that works for them and helps them reach their goal
(O Brien Moran, 2012). Being an expert learner would be a great technique to use if you want to
learn more actively because it gets you more involved with your work and you are not just showing
up to class, writing some notes and never looking at them again. Another technique we have talked
about in class that would help students learn more actively is working in groups. Working

Homeless Problem
Homeless people are those that cannot maintain regular, secure and adequate housing. They are on
the side of streets, looking for ways to earn money and provide for themselves and their families.
The underprivileged and poor health is exceedingly interconnected. Poverty arises from political,
social and economical inequalities. Povertyleads to one becoming sick because of the lack of
sanitation, poor nutrition, making the choice of putting health at risk to provide for their family.
Poor health in turn traps communities in poverty. Residing in overcrowded and poor conditions

Military Recruitment In High Schools
As I m sure you know, military recruitment in high schools has been a hot topic ever since the No

government funding must provide military recruiters the same access to secondary school students
as is provided generally to post secondary educational institutions or to prospective employers of
those students (No Child Left Behind Act of 2001). And unfortunately, any schoolthat refuses this

Some people such as yourself, who do not support military recruiting in high schools, worry that
military recruiters prey on the poor students and persuade them to join by offering things such as

although not specifically for those of a lower income household, but for all recruits, and they are
not intended to be used to trap those students into the Military service. In a study done by the
Center for Naval Analyses under the Department of Defense it was found that when the nation is

three middle income brackets while the poorest (under $36,74 a year) and the wealthiest (over

The Freedom Of Property, And Karl Marx s Theory Of Private...
Today people have many possessions. Possessions range from cell phones to property to even
people s individual selves. There are also many laws that protect their property and rules that
govern the transfer of property as well. But how did society get private property? Karl Marx argues
that private propertyinitially began through theft, violence, or other unjust mechanisms. Does this
mean that people should not have private propertysince it was based on unjust methods? I believe
that Hume would still defend individual property ownership, despite Marx s critique of its
origins because the origins do not damage people or society when Hume s theory of justice is
applied. Hume s theory requires justice when people have individual property, justice in turn
provides stability, and finally, this stability allows for everyone to forget the past and forge their
own future. First, explore why justice is necessary and what it is for Hume. Hume thinks people
need justice because people are self interested. He writes that people are naturally partial to
[themselves], and to [their] friends (Anomaly, Brennan and Munger 135). When he writes this he
means that if someone has something that someone else desires, then they will just attempt to take
it so that it becomes theirs. This is similar to Hobbes s state of nature, where everything is chaotic
and people are constantly at war with one another. This is not a state that anyone truly wants to be

Pressure Distribution Around Symmetrical Aerofoilc
Pressure Distribution around a Symmetric Aerofoil
Abstract:
The following report is based on an experiment conducted to calculate the lift curve slope for a
symmetrical aerofoil subjected to varying angles of attack. Pressure readings were taken at
different points on the upper and lower surface of the aerofoil. The report concludes that maximum
lift is generated between 12 Вє 15Вє, which is also the stall point. It also states that region close to
the leading edge contributes most to the lift force.
Introduction:
This experiment is designed to measure the static pressure distribution around a symmetric aerofoil,
find the normal force and hence to determine the lift curve slope.
For zero angle of attack the pressure distribution is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the graphs above it can be seen that maximum suction for all the angles (except 4Вє) exists at
Hole 1, which is 1.27 mm from the leading edge on the upper surface. The angle of attack at which
most suction is achieved is 11Вє where the CP value reaches 3.0; and it increases as the angle of
attack is increased or decreased from 11Вє.
The CP values at the trailing edge vary for different angles. They all range between 0 and 0.5. It is
maximum at 4Вє and 0Вє while it is minimum at 16Вє.
For all positive angles, the lowest CP values are found around 1.27 mm from the leading edge on
the upper surface while the highest CP values are found around 2.29mm from the leading edge on
the lower surface of the aerofoil. Such that, the maximum differences in the CP values exists at
these points, which are closest to the leading edge. The bigger the difference between CP values
the greater the lift force as the suction is maximum. Therefore, it can be concluded that the region
close to the leading edge of the aerofoil contributes most to the lift force.
The Lift Coefficient CL is calculated using the graphs 1 6. In this report counting the squares
method is used to calculate the area between the curves for pressure distribution on the upper
surface and lower surface. The area gives the lift coefficient at particular angles

as are a failure by some participants to recognise the urgency of stroke signs and symptoms
Miller, et al., (2015). The importance of caregivers and relatives in facilitating access to EMS is
therefore also apparent, this is indicated in Omar s case, when Omar s wife phone the GP.
However, the results from the study shows that majority of the patient reported being aware of
the FAST (Fast, Arms, Speech, Time) campaign, at the time of stroke (Madeleine, et al., (2012).
The rest of the patient argued that the campaign had no impact on stroke recognition or response.
Therefore, lack of knowledge has huge impact on people not seeking emergency help. This could
be the reason Omar did not seek for help when he had the first attack. However, Department of
health (DH, 2010) and Public Health England (PHE, 2015), indicates that public health
interventions have helped the public to recognise the signs of stroke and take appropriate action.
Moreover, the study signposts that patient fear to call for emergency help as they were not sure of

Native Title Case Study
Law reform in relation to Native Title has developed and become testament to the growing justice
for the ATSI community, however effective mean and complete justice is yet to be achieved. From
the changing values and attitudes of society, alongside conditions of social change and new
concepts of justice ATSI justice is being implemented, with law reform. With seminal cases alike
Mabo and Wik, legislation has been delegated and changed accordingly; with the recognition of
Native titlefinally succeeding in overturning the terra nullius doctrine, which for centuries has
damaged and hurt the ATSI peoples. Despite this, with the Wik decision and largely the 10 point

With the change from Keatings progressive labour government to John Howard s conservative
Coalition government, came resounding regression to the Native Title act, with the 10 point plan,
and the coinciding Wik decision nine months after. The Wik VS Queensland case (1996)
established that in cases of conflict between pastoral leases and native title, pastoral leases override
and can successfully extinguish native title , which was adopted with the change of legislation and
introduction of the Native Title amendment Act (1998). If there is no conflict, they can coexist.
Many cases of Native Title extinguishment has occurred, and only approximately 600 areas hold
Native Title in all of Australia, with less than 1% in NSW. As a procession from the Native Title
declaration, this legislature has digressed justice to the ATSI community , and as further iterated by
Sydney Morning Herald has undone the good of the Mabo decision . ATSI discrimination following
the legislation of the Native title Act (1996) significantly rose in the public discourse with
renowneded personalities claiming they could take their backyards , and an unspoken deeply rooted
fear for many, dating back to Australia s colonization; that Australia could be declared completely
under Native Title, and the sovereignty of the Crown could be questioned . For ATSI peoples , the
introduction of the 10 point plan, and the Native Title Ammendment Act (1998) marks a significant
national regression upon achieving justice for their community as they sought to pour bucket loads
of extinguishment on the native title rights of Indigenous Australians. Law reform, in this case has
been dominantly ineffective in achieving justice for the ATSI peoples, and rather revoking

Comparison Between Hamlet And Aristotelian Tragedy
Aristotle describes tragedy as beginning of a staid deed, that is total and of high degree.
Tragedy he defines: Is a sign of action that is serious, full and of a firm magnitude?

Moreover, they have as their centre of notice, the tragic leading actor whose tragic error eventually

compassion and dread of tragedy to us rather than criticize the whole skills and positions.

Inherit The Wind Moral Analysis
Morals are everywhere in the movie Inherit The Wind and in everyday life. Morals are always
changing and there are different kinds of beliefs everywhere. Merriam Webster describes morals
being of or relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior and a belief as a state or habit of
mind in which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing. Beliefs and morals go hand
in hand when you think about it. Each one of the billions of people on this earth has different
morals depending on who they and where they are. Our morals are challenged every day and we,
ourselves, question them every hour of the day if they are right or wrong; should we defend our

The Second Treatise Of Government By Locke
One of Locke s most influential writings was his Second Treatise of Government . In this essay,
Locke discusses his ideal version of government, in which a social contract is exchanged between
the subjects and the government in power. In discussing this social contract, Locke provides a
distinction between express consentand tacit consent. In our discussion today, much of our time
will be spent discussing tacit consent. For our purposes, we will define tacit consent as a
nonverbal, implied, voluntary act of permission or agreement. In Locke s Second Treatise of
Government, he asserts that all individuals are equal and independent, so thus no one is superior
over another. In governments though, there is a fundamental hierarchical nature in which there are
leaders, who are superior, than say, the subjects. In order to fix this problem, Locke introduces the
concept of Tacit Consent. Locke sums up tacit consent by saying And to this I say, that every man,
that hath any possessions, or enjoyment, of any part of the dominions of any government, cloth
thereby give his tacit consent, and is as far forth obliged to obedience to the laws of that
government, during such enjoyment, as any one under it; Basically, if an individual is benefitting
from resources given to them by the government, then they have tacitly consented to also accept the
burdens of that government and follow the laws set forth by that government. So, have we as a
nation, provided tacit consent to the US

Ambrose Biierce Writing Style
The writing style of Ambrose Bierce can essentially be depicted as bitter. His stories include the
1891 story Chickamauga , the 1891 story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge and the adapted
An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge Twilight Zone film in 1964. Both stories had some kind of
incongruity or plot twist that made his stories fascinating. Occasions throughout his life molded
his view on the world. This perspective reaches out into his written work when he takes a gander
at the sharp side of the world in a large portion of his stories and into the aspects of death. The
story Chickamauga tells of a small boy who with a toy sword who wanders off into the woods to
fight invisible foes. The boy strays too far and evidently becomes lost and lies down to rest and
sleeps for several hours. Soon after he awakes he is joined by hundreds of dead or wounded
soldiers and rather than being frightened by them he is entertained by them and eventually, with
a sword in hand, takes a position in front of the group to lead them. Soon he and the soldiers
come across a small body of water and the soldiers make a rush for in which many with the lack
of strength die. With seeing a fire in the distance, the child becomes excited and moves towards the
flames. When the boy finally reaches the fire he sees that the flames were sprouting from his own

and deception the group rescues Alice from the Huron s. At the camp of the Delaware where
Magua was holding Cora, Magua convinced the others that Hawkeye and the Mohicans were the
enemy. Hawkeye then proves that he is a chief to the sage Tamenund. At this point they had
rescued all but Cora who Magua managed to flee with. After a chase and a fight, Magua and his
Huron s were defeated but one Huron killed Cora. Uncas then killed that Huron because at that
point, he had fallen deeply in love with Cora. Magua then killed
Uncas by stabbing him in the back. Magua was then chased until he was forced to jump over a
cliff and died.
While James Cooper doesn t express his personal opinion on the history of our nation, he speaks
through his characters and discusses how the Europeans introduced alcohol to the Indians. And had
them drink until they thought they were enlightened and lost their land. Throughout the story it
becomes more and more apparent that Indians were used and abused by the French and the English.
The book makes me think that our history is full of ruthless deception. From the beginning when

A Brief Note On Psychic And Paranormal Phenomena
Parapsychology is the study of psychic and paranormal phenomena, more commonly known as psi
phenomena. These phenomena include psychokinesis, precognition, and extrasensory perception.
Psychokinesis is defined as the power to move objects through psychic means. Precognition is the
ability to foresee and predict the future. Extrasensory perceptionis the ability to sense things
through the power of the mind, rather than through the five traditional physical senses. Some
people believe in the reality of psi phenomena because parapsychologists are often able to put on
convincing shows and do seemingly impossible acts. Uri Geller convinced people around the
world of his parapsychological powers, as he could perform mind reading tricks and see... Show

Thus, the subjects can easily cheat by seeing the shapes themselves or reading body language
instead of blindly guessing. The study would likely conclude that the subject is a psychic because
they had abnormal results, but this is a questionable argument by elimination because there is no
evidence that the abnormal results were due to psychic powers.
Parapsychologists explain the lack of evidence by claiming that psi phenomena are a type of
elusive phenomena, meaning that they do not work properly when skeptics are present. Therefore,
people who perform experiments on psi phenomena are causing the tests to be faulty. This
explanation is an ad hoc rescue because it creates a fake excuse for why psi phenomena cannot
produce positive results when tested. If the psi phenomena were actually real, scientists believe that
the parapsychologists would easily be able to supply prove of their existence. Furthermore,
parapsychologists find it unfair the scientific establishment has extremely high standards of
evidence for psi phenomena. However, extraordinary evidence is needed to prove extraordinary
assertions. The scientific establishment views parapsychology as a pseudoscience because while
currently there is no concrete evidence of the existence of psi phenomena, it is impossible to prove
that psi phenomena are nonexistent. Additionally, because there are no repeatable paranormal
phenomena, the scientific community feels that it is unlikely that such phenomena could exist.

Why Might Parents Allow Their Children to read Gothic Literature? According to some parents,
Gothic Literature provides a sense of escape for the child and allows the child to relate to their

their children to read Gothic Literature, they are opening their children s minds up and allowing
them to go into the dark world and face many unknown challenges and experiences, in hopes of

It allows the child to grow and become faced with hardships that later on in life, they are able to
overcome and gain a true understanding of life itself. In the Importance of Externalization,
Bettelheim states that fantasy fills the huge gaps in a child s understanding which are due to the
immaturity of his thinking and his lack of pertinent information (61). Gothic Literature teaches
children valuable, moral lessons that they are able to take with them throughout their life to help
them gain overall maturity. Children learn that in order to gain maturity, they must work hard in
order to achieve their goals and dreams in life. Allowing children to read these Gothic themed
novels, will also help in aiding the child to develop both more mentally and psychologically through
the dark themes and unknown that it portrays. Bettelheim argues that if a parent shadows his/her
child from these mature ways, then the child suffers from an arrest of development ( Transcending

children to grow into mature, young adults. Bettelheim states that This is what maturity ought to

This gave Rome different types of people to work with and different ideas on ways of training
their soldiers. In general, typical Roman military training consisted of endurance marching,
building field fortifications, developing specialist skills, and weapons exercises (Coulston). A
form of training within Rome, Disciplina or physical and technical training, helped enhance the
bravery of the soldiers along with proper diet and medical support (Coulston). For a warrior
heading into the battlefield, the bravery of the soldiers was a necessity to hold the formations
performed by the Roman warriors. Coupled with this bravery was the security of medical support
mechanisms in the form of surgeons and field medics. Along with disciplina, the weapon training
enhanced the speed and performance of the warriors which included long, repetitive practice and
extra weight equipment (Coulston). This bravery increased the strength at which Rome s armies
would charge at the opposing side; loss of a soldier s brethren usually resulted in an angered state
and could usually turn the tides in a battle. Qualifications for the Roman army were simplistic in
that only males could actually fight in wars, although some women did actually achieve the rank
of general. The population was divided into seven classes; generally the highest classes, or the

The Information Age And The Management Information System...
The readings this week discuss the challenges of competing in the information age and the
management information system tools managers can use to help them support the business
strategies. With so much data available, there is an opportunity and advantage for companies to
utilize information systems to capture and make sense of this information. There are a variety of
information system modules that are available, including Customer Relationship management
(CRM), Supply Chain management (SCM), Human Resource management (HRMS). While they all
have their own emphasis, the advantages of each of these modules include the ability to store data,
create reports that enable management to make sense out of the data, and share this information, in
real time, throughout the organization. With good input data, information systems can provide a
company with a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Discussion
Information systems can provide great value to all departments within a company. For customer
service, dealing regularly with the buyers of products or services, having a information system that
captures buying patterns, pricing, credit terms, and customer preferences, greatly simplifies the job,
reduces errors, speeds order processing and can create customer loyalty. For finance, information
systems enable the group to generate reports to understand product profitability, customer pricing
and terms, and more. For all departments, having access to meaningful information

The United States General Election Essay
While the 2016 United States general election has been in itself special with regards to the deep
division among the electorate and lack of favorability of the two frontrunners for the presidency,
it still has the unique American system of being dominated by two major political parties;
Republicans and Democrats. Over time these political parties have experienced massive changes
but in modern America they have crafted very unique identities. With regards to social issues such
as abortion rights and treatment of minority groups and economic issues such as fiscal spending,
income taxes and welfare, Republicans in general have been characterized as mainly conservative,
tax averse and against government entitlements while Democrats have been generally
characterized as mainly liberal on these same issues. Altogether political affiliations to either the
right or the left can be categorized based on their preference for stability. Liberals are generally
seen as being more adaptable to a changing environment for example in the case for LGBTQ rights
where the changing environment has generally led them to be more acceptable while conservatives
are more likely to be less open, sticking to what they consider traditional values. These attributes
have for a long time been seen to be largely determined by the political atmosphere in an individuals
environment but growing research has shown that these characteristics have a significant
association with human genetics. In this paper I

Enron Is An Energy Trading, Electric Utilities And Natural...
Enron is an energy trading, electric utilities and natural gas formed in 1931. It was merged to
Houston s Natural Gas Company in 1985 by Kenneth Lay. It was the most innovative company for
6 years until it came crashing down in a terrible scandal known as the Enron Scandal which led to
the suspension of Arthur Anderson. Enrons stock price decreased rapidly and abruptly collapsed and
filed for bankruptcy.
Unfortunately, in 1987 Enron merged with Valhalla. The problem began because traders exceeded
their trading limits, executing contracts to delivers tens of millions barrels of crude oil. Then they
couldn t afford to buy oil because they ran out of cash. It was discovered that Valhalla, had been
manipulating the books. In fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enron had no other choice than to bluff the market and they were then able to cover the short fall
by purchasing small amounts of now inexpensive oil and distributing it to customers in quietness.
Once Enron was recognized as a chief competitor in the gas marketplace, it began using capitals to
employ its impact on U.S. dogmatic developments. For instance, Kenneth Lay remained indeed one
of President Bush s crucial sponsors through the president s prompt dogmatic profession. On the
other hand, Clinton management retorted to Enron s politicization by associating the deregulation
of power at the national level as demonstrated by the U.S. Division of Energy s unsuccessful
deregulation notice of the central 1990 s. California hooked on the dogmatic burden produced
through Enron s politicization existence in their municipal council and ultimately elected to
liberalize their overtly alleged electric efficacies. The catastrophic penalties of this act, comprising
Enron s participation in the, gaming of the California system, headed to the Western Energy Crisis
of 2000 as well as 2001 have been very acknowledged. Enron charged less on average for
electricity than the greatest of the municipally possessed utilities in the Pacific West during the
energy crisis. Enron committed accounting and securities fraud with corporate shell games and
derivative that were not exposed by regulators but by stockholders who were knowledgeable that

Research Paper on Hurricane Wilma
Hurricane Wilma
November 24, 2015
Geology 1401
Introducion: Cyclones, Hurricanes, and Typhoons, these cyclonic storms are known by many
names but are all born from the same mechanism: low pressure systems. Also known as
depressions. Thankfully, most hurricanes form only during hurricane season, which is from June
1st to November 30th. Within this season about 85 percent of the most intense hurricanes and 60
percent of minor Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes originate from African easterly waves
(NOAA Cyclone Report). These waves, which have a wavelength of 2000 to 2500 kilo meters,
originate close to or from the highlands of Ethiopia, Africa. Not all easterly waves become
hurricanes, but the ones that do travel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to its 213 trillion teraflops, NOAA is able to release fairly accurate 5 day forecasts of
hurricanes. Granted, after 3 days the accuracy of these forecasts declines but they do serve as very
accurate maps within those first 3 days.
Hurricane Wilma On the evening of October 15, 2005 tropical depression number 24 appeared in
Atlantic Ocean, its winds at a mere 35 kilo meters per hour, pressure of about 1004 mb and
heading West at a pace of 5 kilo meters per hour. In the next few hours, the winds of depression
number 24 gradually increased to 45 km/h and on the morning of October 16, it had reached
speeds of 55 km/h. On the 17nth of October this depression developed into tropical storm Wilma ,
with wind speeds at about 65 km/h and an internal pressure of 1000 mb. At about 10 A.M the
Yucatan Peninsula was issued a warning, alerting them of the possible dangers from Wilma.
Following an erratic pattern of movement, experts were not sure where Wilma was headed. On
the morning of October 18 Wilma was about 810 km from Punta Allen, Mexico. Wilma once
again intensified reaching speeds of 120 km/h, by the end of the day it was officially a category
II hurricane at 175 km/h. On the 19nth at 4 A.M, about 595 km from Punta Allen, Mexico
hurricane Wilma quickly reached wind speeds of 280 km and pression levels of 980 mb, at these
speeds Wilma was now classified as a category V. The rate at which

What Are The Effects Of Argumentative Essay On Child Soldiers
In multiple developing countries right now, there are ongoing wars. These battles are greatly
affecting the local communities, but especially the children. Extremist or terrorist groups are
forcing these children to fight for them. The majority of child soldiers are given no choice whether
or not they desire to fight. Therefore, as long as these children show remorse for their actions and
are mentally stable, they should be granted amnesty. Many child soldiers are drugged before going
into battle, and threatened to avoid them running away. If imprisoning them wasn t inhumane
enough, this is truly unacceptable. Some people may think that child soldiers might pose a danger
to the public because of their previous experience in a war zone, but... Show more content on

If a child can not comprehend the idea of death yet, then why would they be able to comprehend
how awful it was to murder someone? This is an advantage for those who desire to use them as
soldiers, but a great disadvantage for the children themselves, or anyone who gets in their way.
Fortunately, many governments have argued that, If a child under the age of 15 is too young to
fight, then he or she must also be considered too young to be held criminally responsible...
(Johannesburg, paragraph 6). This rule of thumb protects those who truly don t yet understand the
terrible things that they ve done and can t be trusted to make large decisions for themselves.
However, no matter how many children are freed, there are always more to use. These soldiers are
so effective because of many factors, but mainly because children are much more easy to
manipulate than adults. Said by Ishmael Beah himself, Everybody asks why do they go after
children? Because you can easily manipulate them, (Barnett, paragraph 19). Even if, miraculously,
all child soldiers were set free, they would still be targeted, which is why they need to be granted
amnesty. After all, why train a new soldier when you can just as easily reclaim an old

Jefferson Vs Hamilton Essay
Following the ratification of the Constitution in 1788, the 1790s in the United States was a period
of unrest that characterized a new country with little experience. A partisan divide was formed
during this time period, due to the establishment of Hamilton s plan which resulted in conflict of
interest between Federalists and Republicans, the U.S involvement within the French and British
conflict, and the domestic affairs that dominated Adam s presidency. While each issue had strong
opposition, the true problem was rooted in a government that was more focused on combating
tyranny, rather than finding resolutions to the conflicts at hand. Alexander Hamilton was the
secretary of treasury during Washington s presidency. In 1790, Hamilton established a five step
program that essentially privatized the state treasury, and validated stronger bonds in industry based
foreign trade. This policy had support from merchants, manufacturers and financiers, but not small
farmers, headed by Jefferson and Madison, who wanted the U.S to stay agrarian and expand
Westward. From these two ideals sprouted partisan politics; Federalists under Hamilton, and
Republicans under Jefferson and Madison. The U.S Founders were primarily focused on preventing
the abuse of power when creating the Constitution, and thus there was no method to resolving the
conflict that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
American citizens supported this revolt as Americans historically hate tyranny, while the
government saw it as a way of raising the prospect of anarchy within their own country. The John
Jay Treaty of 1794 gave Britain priority in American trade, which in return concluded the U.S.
involvement with France. This alignment with the British monarchy deepened the partisan divide
in the states, with those in support aligning themselves with the Federalist party, while those in
opposition,with the Republican

Knowledge Management, Project Integration And Corporate...
Knowledge Management Article Evaluation
Article Summary
This is a summary of the article Knowledge management, project integration and corporate
sustainability: is there a link? by Everton Michels, Paulo Eduardo Antunes Grijб»Џ, Elizandra
Machado and Paulo Mauricio Selig. In the article, the authors study begins by addressing the use of
knowledge management which is defined to combine together knowledge and communication in an
acceptable preservation that should support the formation, operation, and retention of knowledge.
The authors talk about how there is a substantial gap between knowledge management and project
management, but they make the claim that uniting knowledge management and project
management produces several benefits to a project, which in turn can help with a return on
investments.
The study involved texts and database searches that identified keywords such as knowledge
management, project integration, and corporate sustainability in order to help in the search for
relevant documentation and journals for the study. The authors chose to analyze, compile and
utilize 84 studies dated between the years 2004 through 2012, along with already established
bibliographies on the subject matter. The authors claims of the study of knowledge management is
about introducing change within a procedure which in turn is a way to back up the alliances of the
projects and provide corporate sustainability. However, the study ended up being somewhat
restricted because of

City Dump Film Analysis
City Dump is a film that explains the City College of New York scandal, where players were
curving the game spread and being paid for it. A majority of the interviews conducted in the film
were not those of whom were on the team and partook in the scandal, but rather journalists and
other players who weren t part of it. This is accepted a legitimate criticism of the film. In order to
portray the effect this incident had on the player, interviews with them would be appropriate. But, it
makes sense that the filmmakers did not interview them because it could ve potentially hurt the
case they made in 1951. Additionally, they didn t want to make a bad situation worse. Adolph Rupp

What I really love about Comcast NBC is that they obtain the broadcasting rights to marquee
sporting events. This is where they defer from different broadcasting corporations. Comcast
NBC focus on sporting events such as the Kentucky Derby, NHL games when they are played
outdoors, Indy Car racing, and the Olympics. Outside of the NFL NBC does not obtain the
broadcasting rights to the NBA or the MLB where there are frequent games played. So when
you combine the hallmark sporting events with primetime NFL broadcast it makes for a great
business decision. People in North America love football and broadcasting events that are scarce
makes the viewership rating go up. I have wondered why NBC has not made a competitive bid
lately for the NBA or MLB but after evaluating their company it makes perfect
sense.NBCUniversal was also another great expansion to their company but broadcasting on a
global stage to reach customers all around the world. Another evaluation I have made with NBC
comcast was how important the Olympics are to them.NBC loves broadcasting the olympics
because the viewership is global which leads to huge profits. Comcast NBC is a great company
who is expanding their horizons on a daily basis to make their company more profitable. I enjoyed
learning about this corporation I originally thought that NBC was independently owned so it was

Essay On China s Emergence As A Global Power
China s emergence as a global power has coincided with a somewhat heavy handed foreign policy
towards its neighbors. Internal disputes have included a political crisis in Hong Kong over the right
to vote, minority oppression in Inner Mongolia, and unhealthy air quality. China s rise has changed
the Asian power dynamic. Chinese foreign policy towards North Korea, protective in nature, has
drawn criticism. Worried about instability in Korea driving untrained refugees into China, its
leadership opposes any transformative actions in the region. China s policy towards Japan
increasingly features hostile rhetoric, as the two countries struggle for influence in the region.

International Law does not support China s claims. The principle of effective occupation was
established by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Island of Palmas in 1928. Effective
occupation entails an ability and intention to exercise continuous and uninterrupted jurisdiction,
which is distinguished from conquest. China has occupied the Paracel Islands, an archipelago of
thirty islands between China and Vietnam, but it has not occupied the Spratly Islands, an
archipelago off the coasts of the Philippines and Malaysia. It once occupied nine islands between
1988 and 1992, but the islands are now occupied by various other claimants. China s claims are
also disputed by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Under UNCLOS, claims to
resources are based on exclusive economic zones and continental shelves. China s claims far surpass
its exclusive economic zones and continental shelves, overlapping with the legal claims of other
ASEAN states. China s claims rely on historical interests, which carries no weight under
international law.
Another problem stems from the natural resource potential of the sea. Estimations of oil in the
region present varied statistics, but everyone agrees that the area has oil. According to the
Ministry of Geological Resources and Mining of the People s Republic of China, the sea may
contain 17.7 billion tons of crude oil. The United States Energy Information Administration

  • 3. How Did Chinese Technology Change Over Europe China enjoyed a number of technological advances over Europe in the period running up to the 15th century, most significantly the development of gunpowder, compasses and printing. These inventions revolutionised European technology facilitating exploration, conquest and literature. Unlike in Europe, these inventions were not put to such use by the Chinese who held a fairly isolationist view. Meaning that they did not involve themselves in trade to nearly the same degree as many Europeans. In this essay I will be assessing Chinas technological lead over Europebefore the 16th century and commenting on the extent to which they held this lead. I will then go on to consider the main events, which took place in China, and particularly in Europe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be contributed to the fact that China did not utilize their inventions to nearly the same extent as Europe. Lynda Shaffer is to a broad extent in agreement with this as she argues that Needham s question can thus be understood to mean, Why didn t China use gunpowder to destroy feudal walls? Why didn t China use the compass to cross the Pacific and discover America, or to find an all sea route to Western Europe? (Lynda Shaffer, World History Bulletin, Fall/Winter 1986/87). This can broadly be explained by the fact that long historical unity of China, covering a large land mass, meant that it was mostly self sufficient. China did not need the outside world, which was inferior anyway . (Roy Bailey, EC120, week 3). Moreover, China was never exposed to the fiercely competitive states system of Europe (Roy Bailey, EC120, week 3), which would have demanded China to remove itself from an isolationist position in order for the country to survive. In contrast to this, European countries took advantage of the newly discovered technologies. The use of gunpowder in Europe made castles and other such structures associated with the medieval period obsolete, as castles were no matches for something, which could destroy their walls. This helped to free Europe from its feudal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finally, recommendations and a conclusion made on natural gas price volatility based on the analysis and information discussed in this report. Overview Huntington H. G. 2009 mentions that recent changes in natural gas market are attributed to market forces and organizations operating in the industry. As the industry develops into new end user markets and producers, prices adjust according to the changes in the market. Due to the key roles of energy influence on global economic welfare, pricing is fundamental for correct and efficient choice of appropriate energy source. (Davis L. W. and Muehlegger E. 2010). Energy Information Administration (EIA) 2014 says the total gas consumption within industrial and electric power sectors in the U.S. will improve from 25.6 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) in 2012 to 31.6Tcf in 2040. Natural gas usage escalates in all sectors apart from residential due to population movement to warmer areas (EIA 2014) figure 1. For instance, in 2010 approximately 25% of energy consumed in the U.S. came from natural gas (Lv X. and Shan X. 2013). This indicates prices may adjust to demand changes accompanying its usage. • 7. Conch In Lord Of The Flies Symbols are important to many people because they are a representation of their individuality. In the novel Lord of The Flies , the conch shell is a representation of leadership and the society. The scene where the conch is used to take turns speaking throughout the book is one of the most important scenes. It prevents the tribe from getting out of control, plus it was a great way for them to understand each other. The conch also displays order through the rule that you must have the conch to speak in an assembly or meeting. The reason for this rule is that we can t have everybody talking at once. We ll have to have hands up like at school. Therefore it won t be messy. At first everyone thinks that this is the best method to maintain order... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their goal was to control the fire, food, and have everyone in control. They are the ones that can speak first or over take it. However Ralph has a bit more power because during the voting for leader, Ralph won until he felt bad and offered his opponent Jack half. Jack is eager to make rules and punish those who break them, although he consistently breaks them him self when he needs to further his own interest. As jack with half of the leadership, he is in charge of the hunters. This being one of his main interests, it begins with the desire of meat and builds to the overwhelming urge to master and kill other living creatures. The conch was also associated with Piggy. Piggy was the one that discovered it with Ralph. Piggy was the one who showed Ralph how to blow it and recognized what shell the conch was. S right, it s a shell! I had seen one like that before. On someone s back wall. A conch he called it. He used to blow it and then his mum would come. Its ever so valuable. Also, it seemed that piggy and the conch were linked together because in a way, they died at the same time. When the conch was destroyed, the tribe civilized world has also become wrecked. • 8. An Ethnographic Study On American Ethnic Identity African Americans have been suffering a lot through continuous involvement in their lives and activities since they were treated as slaves in the past. Today, prejudice against Black people is still a complicated issue. In examining how people in a small group interpret and reinterpret their identities, my thesis for this ethnographic study aims to illuminate how the ethnographic record provides claims about African American ethnic identity in order to counter the impact of discrimination. I have figured out that attendant observation is beneficial to immerse myself into a community, in order to gain a better information about the intricacies and inner psychology which could not be obtained from literature or any other methods where information is simply provided. The selected informant is known as a sample and is highly important for the research that characterizes an ethnographic survey. In addition, I will draw on my Profile essay where I interviewed one of my professors. The person that I wrote about might be considered one of the most accurate model of how to deal with daily experiences as an African American. This essay is based on my personal experience at a Black Student Association. At this conference, the speakers spoke about issues that African American deal with today. During the conference, I was figuring out how much Black people have been going through from their daily activities. The conference held by Black people gives me impression that I can never ... The story told in Aloe Blacc s music video Love Is The Answer centers on two teenage brothers who become separated after their parents divorce. The second son s quality of life is not the same as his brother s. His mother is rarely seen in the music video. She only makes one appearance with her son. Her short appearance shows her yelling at him as he lies on the couch, holding a football. This son attends a school with damaged lockers and enters a classroom that appears to be a rundown portable building. Most of the students have rebellious looks on their faces and show no interest in their education. He spends his free time gambling and drinking with rebellious people. The contrast in the lifestyles of the two brothers suggests that the factors of behavior vary in each situation. Although social behavior is learned by youth through a variety of sources, including peers, school, the family and the neighborhood, it is the family that is the single most important influence on youth socialization (Donegan 1996). • 11. Active Versus Passive Learning Essays Most students these days just think they have to go to class, pay attention, write some notes and they will do fine. That may be true for some people but if they were to use a more active learning approach instead of passive, they could do even better. Active learning is a learning approach that gets the student more involved which helps lead to a better understanding and idea of the material being learned (VickyRN, 2009). Passive learningis the common classroom learning approach where you listen to a teacher and read information (VickyRN, 2009). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Expert learners are people who know their learning goals and do their best to reach those goals (O Brien Moran, 2012). They start early, come up with strategies to help them achieve their goals and are often satisfied with their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). Novice learners however, have no goals, they cram the night before a test and just do not give a full effort into their learning and are usually disappointed with their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). Expert learners often engage in self regulated learning. Someone who is a self regulated learner is said to begin with setting goals, planning how to achieve those goals taking into account their time constraints as well as their strength and weaknesses related to that specific learning task (O Brien Moran, 2012). Once they set their goals and have a strategy, they carry on while monitoring their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). If their strategies are working well for them, they continue on, but if they aren t, they adjust until they find something that works for them and helps them reach their goal (O Brien Moran, 2012). Being an expert learner would be a great technique to use if you want to learn more actively because it gets you more involved with your work and you are not just showing up to class, writing some notes and never looking at them again. Another technique we have talked about in class that would help students learn more actively is working in groups. Working ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a study done by the Center for Naval Analyses under the Department of Defense it was found that when the nation is divided into five strata of affluence , from poorest to wealthiest areas, most recruits hail from the three middle income brackets while the poorest (under $36,74 a year) and the wealthiest (over $76,981 a year) brackets are under represented (CNA 2014). There are also many laws that protect their property and rules that govern the transfer of property as well. But how did society get private property? Karl Marx argues that private propertyinitially began through theft, violence, or other unjust mechanisms. Does this mean that people should not have private propertysince it was based on unjust methods? I believe that Hume would still defend individual property ownership, despite Marx s critique of its origins because the origins do not damage people or society when Hume s theory of justice is applied. Hume s theory requires justice when people have individual property, justice in turn provides stability, and finally, this stability allows for everyone to forget the past and forge their own future. First, explore why justice is necessary and what it is for Hume. Hume thinks people need justice because people are self interested. He writes that people are naturally partial to [themselves], and to [their] friends (Anomaly, Brennan and Munger 135). When he writes this he means that if someone has something that someone else desires, then they will just attempt to take it so that it becomes theirs. This is similar to Hobbes s state of nature, where everything is chaotic and people are constantly at war with one another. This is not a state that anyone truly wants to be in. Pressure Distribution Around Symmetrical Aerofoilc Pressure Distribution around a Symmetric Aerofoil Abstract: The following report is based on an experiment conducted to calculate the lift curve slope for a symmetrical aerofoil subjected to varying angles of attack. Pressure readings were taken at different points on the upper and lower surface of the aerofoil. The report concludes that maximum lift is generated between 12 Вє 15Вє, which is also the stall point. It also states that region close to the leading edge contributes most to the lift force. Introduction: This experiment is designed to measure the static pressure distribution around a symmetric aerofoil, find the normal force and hence to determine the lift curve slope. For zero angle of attack the pressure distribution is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the graphs above it can be seen that maximum suction for all the angles (except 4Вє) exists at Hole 1, which is 1.27 mm from the leading edge on the upper surface. The angle of attack at which most suction is achieved is 11Вє where the CP value reaches 3.0; and it increases as the angle of attack is increased or decreased from 11Вє. The CP values at the trailing edge vary for different angles. They all range between 0 and 0.5. It is maximum at 4Вє and 0Вє while it is minimum at 16Вє. For all positive angles, the lowest CP values are found around 1.27 mm from the leading edge on the upper surface while the highest CP values are found around 2.29mm from the leading edge on the lower surface of the aerofoil. Such that, the maximum differences in the CP values exists at these points, which are closest to the leading edge. The bigger the difference between CP values the greater the lift force as the suction is maximum. Therefore, it can be concluded that the region close to the leading edge of the aerofoil contributes most to the lift force. The Lift Coefficient CL is calculated using the graphs 1 6. In this report counting the squares method is used to calculate the area between the curves for pressure distribution on the upper surface and lower surface. Qualitative approach is appropriate as the study is therefore, concerned with exploring and understanding human experience as they occur and interpret in real life, (Cook, et al., 2013). It can be argued that qualitative researchfocuses on the credibility of the evidence presented as an authentic account and accurate interpretation of the respondent s viewpoints in relation to the research question being explored (Burns, et al. Efforts to gain access to EMS are evident within these data as are a failure by some participants to recognise the urgency of stroke signs and symptoms Miller, et al., (2015). The importance of caregivers and relatives in facilitating access to EMS is therefore also apparent, this is indicated in Omar s case, when Omar s wife phone the GP. With the change from Keatings progressive labour government to John Howard s conservative Coalition government, came resounding regression to the Native Title act, with the 10 point plan, and the coinciding Wik decision nine months after. The Wik VS Queensland case (1996) established that in cases of conflict between pastoral leases and native title, pastoral leases override and can successfully extinguish native title , which was adopted with the change of legislation and introduction of the Native Title amendment Act (1998). If there is no conflict, they can coexist. Many cases of Native Title extinguishment has occurred, and only approximately 600 areas hold Native Title in all of Australia, with less than 1% in NSW. As a procession from the Native Title declaration, this legislature has digressed justice to the ATSI community , and as further iterated by Sydney Morning Herald has undone the good of the Mabo decision . ATSI discrimination following the legislation of the Native title Act (1996) significantly rose in the public discourse with renowneded personalities claiming they could take their backyards , and an unspoken deeply rooted fear for many, dating back to Australia s colonization; that Australia could be declared completely under Native Title, and the sovereignty of the Crown could be questioned . For ATSI peoples , the introduction of the 10 point plan, and the Native Title Ammendment Act (1998) marks a significant national regression upon achieving justice for their community as they sought to pour bucket loads of extinguishment on the native title rights of Indigenous Australians. • 27. The Second Treatise Of Government By Locke One of Locke s most influential writings was his Second Treatise of Government . In this essay, Locke discusses his ideal version of government, in which a social contract is exchanged between the subjects and the government in power. In discussing this social contract, Locke provides a distinction between express consentand tacit consent. In our discussion today, much of our time will be spent discussing tacit consent. For our purposes, we will define tacit consent as a nonverbal, implied, voluntary act of permission or agreement. In Locke s Second Treatise of Government, he asserts that all individuals are equal and independent, so thus no one is superior over another. In governments though, there is a fundamental hierarchical nature in which there are leaders, who are superior, than say, the subjects. In order to fix this problem, Locke introduces the concept of Tacit Consent. Locke sums up tacit consent by saying And to this I say, that every man, that hath any possessions, or enjoyment, of any part of the dominions of any government, cloth thereby give his tacit consent, and is as far forth obliged to obedience to the laws of that government, during such enjoyment, as any one under it; Basically, if an individual is benefitting from resources given to them by the government, then they have tacitly consented to also accept the burdens of that government and follow the laws set forth by that government. • 32. A Brief Note On Psychic And Paranormal Phenomena Parapsychology is the study of psychic and paranormal phenomena, more commonly known as psi phenomena. These phenomena include psychokinesis, precognition, and extrasensory perception. Psychokinesis is defined as the power to move objects through psychic means. Precognition is the ability to foresee and predict the future. Extrasensory perceptionis the ability to sense things through the power of the mind, rather than through the five traditional physical senses. Parapsychologists explain the lack of evidence by claiming that psi phenomena are a type of elusive phenomena, meaning that they do not work properly when skeptics are present. Therefore, people who perform experiments on psi phenomena are causing the tests to be faulty. This explanation is an ad hoc rescue because it creates a fake excuse for why psi phenomena cannot produce positive results when tested. If the psi phenomena were actually real, scientists believe that the parapsychologists would easily be able to supply prove of their existence. Furthermore, parapsychologists find it unfair the scientific establishment has extremely high standards of evidence for psi phenomena. However, extraordinary evidence is needed to prove extraordinary assertions. The scientific establishment views parapsychology as a pseudoscience because while currently there is no concrete evidence of the existence of psi phenomena, it is impossible to prove that psi phenomena are nonexistent. Additionally, because there are no repeatable paranormal phenomena, the scientific community feels that it is unlikely that such phenomena could exist. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States General Election Essay While the 2016 United States general election has been in itself special with regards to the deep division among the electorate and lack of favorability of the two frontrunners for the presidency, it still has the unique American system of being dominated by two major political parties; Republicans and Democrats. Over time these political parties have experienced massive changes but in modern America they have crafted very unique identities. With regards to social issues such as abortion rights and treatment of minority groups and economic issues such as fiscal spending, income taxes and welfare, Republicans in general have been characterized as mainly conservative, tax averse and against government entitlements while Democrats have been generally characterized as mainly liberal on these same issues. Altogether political affiliations to either the right or the left can be categorized based on their preference for stability. Liberals are generally seen as being more adaptable to a changing environment for example in the case for LGBTQ rights where the changing environment has generally led them to be more acceptable while conservatives are more likely to be less open, sticking to what they consider traditional values. These attributes have for a long time been seen to be largely determined by the political atmosphere in an individuals environment but growing research has shown that these characteristics have a significant association with human genetics. Jefferson Vs Hamilton Essay Following the ratification of the Constitution in 1788, the 1790s in the United States was a period of unrest that characterized a new country with little experience. A partisan divide was formed during this time period, due to the establishment of Hamilton s plan which resulted in conflict of interest between Federalists and Republicans, the U.S involvement within the French and British conflict, and the domestic affairs that dominated Adam s presidency. While each issue had strong opposition, the true problem was rooted in a government that was more focused on combating tyranny, rather than finding resolutions to the conflicts at hand. Alexander Hamilton was the secretary of treasury during Washington s presidency. In 1790, Hamilton established a five step program that essentially privatized the state treasury, and validated stronger bonds in industry based foreign trade. This policy had support from merchants, manufacturers and financiers, but not small farmers, headed by Jefferson and Madison, who wanted the U.S to stay agrarian and expand Westward.
