I really enjoyed Holly Weeks piece on stressful conversations. It aligns well with my own
experience. Her keen insight has been shared through exploration of three scenarios where the stress
gets high very easily. In each of these three examples the author lets the people in the conversation
fail, this is a thought provoking technique that stimulates introspection. Holly is counting on the
reader to remembers similar experiences that they may have gone through. The author is also
provoking us to examine the large role our subconscious has in our actions when confronted with
stressful conversations. The author provides help in solving these quarrelsome situations by
describing the processes necessary for us to improve the stress of conversation unilaterally.

Know yourself, this is a common theme in many articles on communication and it is a central point
in this piece. Much of how emotions work into communication is unconscious, they seem to
evolve without our own control. Just as we felt for the characters in the examples the author

In Sarah Bianchi Sand s article, she details the glass ceiling, or an unofficial boundary that prevents
women and minorities alike from reaching their highest potential. Her work is meant to persuade
readers that the glass ceiling isn t a myth, but a real and serious problem. Being the Chair and

The fact that this takes place in USA late 1900s makes this book more relatable. Also this novel
has problems such as love, hatred, and violent crime. These real world problems are what makes
this novel even relatable. There is nothing like seeing superheros go through the same struggles we
go through daily. Finally, another reason why this book is very influential is that even though it is
a novel about superheroes it does not follow how, normally, a superhero story would be told. For
example, in
Superman comics, the clear villain is Lex Luthor and the clear hero is none other than
Superman. However in Watchmen Adrian Veidt was thought to be a superhero for most of the
novel until it was revealed that he was actually a villain. Also, the watchmen are supposed to be
heroes yet most of them come from terrible or violent backgrounds. This makes this novel that
much more riveting.
In Summation, Alan Moore s Watchmen is one of the best novels of all time. I believe it is
because this book is the embodiment of identity, real world problems, and nonВsuperhero like
storytelling. Identity in this novel is led by in my opinion the best character Rorschach

The Agony Of Rejection From Friends, Family, Schools, And...
By the time I was fourteen ... the nail in my wall would no longer support the weight of the
rejection slips impaled upon it. I replaced the nail with a spike and kept on writing. This quote
from Stephan King really hit me. The famous, successful man that we all know for his works
Carrie or The Shining , had once been rejected. It s crazy to think that someone so successful had
once been struggling. Maybe I choose this quote because that s how I m feeling right now and
the quote gives me some sort of hope. Unsuccessful, down, rejected are a few words to describe
it. The agony of rejection from friends, family, schools, and jobs all contribute. There s the pain
of boys denying you at my age, or applying for a job that you never hear back from. The constant
pressure to fit in with groups of girls in sororities and the fear they will judge you. The pressure
of school and the four tests coming up next week along with the everlasting point to make your
parents proud is a constant cycle in my life. These all are reasons that brought my attention to
Stephan King s quote. The thing is, he gives me hope for the future. Hope. That s a strong word.
It s not a promised outcome, or a permanent solution but it is something. It is something to look
forward to in the future and having a better outcome then before. Stephan King may have been
rejected from many schools and many jobs, but he decided to push through and keep going and
look where is he is now. That s what I have been
