Overview Of Intellectual Property Rights
Overview of intellectual property rights and how it relates to Computing
The purpose of the following essay is to discuss inttelectual property rights and its relation to
software, I will then futher discuss the patentabillity of software.
Since the use of the first computer, software has been considered as an addition to the hardware. The
law was adapted to treat software as such. and as such law was made to treat it rightfully like so I.e.
Example law (insert quote here ).
An ongoing opening is rife in the world of law that computing has its own law however these this has
been dispeled by individuals such as Judge Frank Easterbrook who states there is no such thing as
computer law, and goes on to compare justify this statement by useing Dean Gerhard Casper
declaration in xxx that there was no law of the horse . (Easterbrook, 1996)
Whast is commonly computer law actually refers to a myrid of eclectic amalgamation connected of
concepts that exist in from existing law and said laws are subseqently , which are applied to the
relatively new the claiming of inttelectuall rights for technologies of computer hardware and computer
software, e mail, security theroms and the Internet and other networks like it.
The objective of this essay is to explorer the nature of software and draw comparisons to objects in
different paradigms to ascertain as to whether the current method of creating patents for software is
correct..

Traveling through the regions of France and taking a look at the fine cuisine available we have now
arrived in the Loire Valley. Here you can find high quality fruit like cherries which are specially grown
to produce the liqueur Guignolet.
There are also strawberries and melons. This regions specialty mushroom are known as champignons
de Paris.
Arriving in the Loire Valley is just like stepping back into time with its ancient castles, quaint old
villages and historic towns. The scenery is breathtaking.
One of the specialties in the Loire Valley is cheese with the most popular being goat cheese. There are
four well known cheeses here:
Sainte Maure, Pouligny St. Pierre, Selles sur Cher and Crottin de Chavignol.
For those who love meat you can find on the menu pheasant, duck, quail, pigeon, rabbit, venison and
even wild boar or deer. The game here is prepared in rich sauces ... Show more content on

Here you can find fish such as perch, pike, river crabs and snails. It is popular for Charolais beef or
game, red currants, black currants, honey cake, Chaource and Epoisses cheese.
A popular liquor made from black currants is Kir which is a cocktail made with creme de cassis (black
currant liquor) and topped with white wine.
This is the region from which comes the popular Dijon mustard.
Dishes unique to Burgundy are Boeuf Bourguignon a traditional French recipe. It is made with beef
braised in red wine and flavored with garlic, onions, carrots and garnished with pearl onions and
mushrooms. Not a too easy dish to prepare but well worth the effort. I have included a link to a recipe
below.
One of the dishes I love is made with escargots or cooked land snails. Usually made with garlic butter
and served as an appetizer.

Analysis Of Multicultural London English
One of English s most developing dialects is known as Multicultural London English, a sociolect of
English. MLE is considered a young dialect mainly spoken by young, working class people in the
multicultural neighbourhoods that incorporates both elements of Caribbean creole and other non
native influences. Paul Kerswill, an investigator from Lancaster University carried out research on the
theme of the emergence, acquisition, and diffusion of a new variety (2007 10.) Kerswill analysed
language use in Hackney, an area in the East End of London originally associated with working class
white Cockneys. However, due to post war reconstruction, many of the East End residents were
transferred to new housing estates further east or to new towns in Essex. Immigrants started to emerge
and the population started to increase. The earliest of immigrants to arrive were from the West Indies
bringing over their Caribbean creole. Kerswill describes responses to MLE in the media, where it has
been referred to as Jafaican , a term that sounds black . The sociolinguists term multiethnolect , then,
reflects the fact that MLE is spoken by young people from all ethnic groups living in the multilingual
inner city area. Other researchers of Multicultural London English are Jenny Cheshire and Sue Fox,
who refers to this dialect as Multi ethnic youth dialect, suggesting that this sociolect isn t only spoken
in London. Dr. Chris Lucas, Senior Lecturer in Arabic Linguistics at SOAS

The Foner And The Reconstruction Era
eric Foner is a history professor at Columbia University, who speciality is in the Civil War and
Reconstruction era. He has written many pieces and had many successful publication, and received
many awards. Foner is a very passionate man when it comes to the Reconstruction period that
occurred after the American Civil War. He wrote a piece entitled The New View of Reconstruction
which dissects the reconstruction whether the reconstruction succeed or failed. Foner wrote about the
political issues, such as the fight between President Johnson and congress, and the new amendments
that were created. And the fact that African Americans were slowly becoming more equally, and
organizations were being created to terror anyone supporting the equality of African Americans.
Throughout the reconstruction era the nation had to rebuilt itself as a unified nation, and making many

With over one million displaced people due to violence in Iraq, reports have surfaced of targeted
harassment, persecution, and killings of Iraqi religious minorities by the Islamic State with little to no
protection from the Iraqi Government and other security forces. I support this for simple fact that they
are protecting a brother and sister in Christ. Now For GOA (Gun Owners of America) they just
supported trump signing an act to repeal Barack Obama s noxious Social Security Gun Ban. This
important for this reason If you had PTSD, ADHD, Alzheimer s, or even anxiety, Social Security
would appoint a guardian for you and, like 257,000 veterans, you would lose your guns. You could
forget about passing on your guns as an inheritance to your children and grandchildren. Take into
consideration that you would have lost your guns at the hands of a bureaucrat who had no medical
degree and had never met you. The cost of appealing a bureaucrat s action would probably be in
excess of $10,000.And; finally, the SSI gun ban would have been the inevitable precursor for guns

Dreams And Dreams Are Important Or Meaningless Essay
Dreams have been around since the beginning of time. There is often controversy over whether or not
dreams are important or meaningless. Although many people believe that dreams are pointless and
have no meanings to them, research and experimentation show that there can be many different
interpretations of dreams. Dreams are hallucinations of the sleeping mind (Loftus Ketcham). Dreams
can be very vivid, loud, and even emotional. This is why it is easy to confuse them with reality.
Dreams are kind of like taking all of a person s wishes and emotions and putting them all in a little
shadow world (Bynum) when they go to sleep at night. What is common in all these dreams is
obvious. They completely satisfy wishes excited during the day which remain unrealized. They are
simply and undisguisedly realizations of wishes. (Freud). A person may be experiencing an emotion or
wishing for something without even realizing it at all. Dreams can sometimes show a person how they
are truly feeling without even their own awareness of these feelings or wishes. A lot of a person s
reality and emotions are used in their dreams, however, this is not always the case. Dreams can also be
extremely bizarre, confusing, and even repetitive. This is where the interpretation of dreams comes
into action. Many people find it hard to believe that when they have a dream over and over again that
it does not mean anything. These types of dreams are called recurring dreams. Recurring dreams
happen

African American Literature And Literature Essay
African American literature is the body of work produced in the United States by writers of African
descent. This particular genre traces back to the works from the late eighteenth century by writers such
as Phillis Wheatley to later reaching early high points with slave narratives and the Harlem
Renaissance, and thus continuing today with authors such as Colson Whitehead and Maya Angelou.
Among the themes and issues explored within African American literature are the roles of African
Americans within the larger American society, African American culture, racism, slavery, and equality.
African American writing has also tended to incorporate oral forms such as spirituals, gospel music,
jazz, and rap. Dating back to the pre Revolutionary War period, African American writers have
engaged in a creative dialogue with American letters. The result is a literature rich in culture and social
insight. These pieces offer illuminating assessments of American identities as well as its history. Since
the time of early slavery African American literature has been overlooked within the literature
criticism. This essay thrives to show that within the English profession African American literature
does belong alongside the great works such as A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and poetry as A
Road less taken by Robert Frost. I will dive deep into history to not only investigate what critics think
about African American literature, but why is it not held to a higher standard just as American

Gladrioters And Roman Gladiators
Response Paper #3 Gladiators vs. Charioteers Roman charioteers and Roman gladiators were at the
pinnacle of the entertainment industry during ancient Roman times. They both had large followings,
were keys to political power, and were the reasons for architectural masterpieces. Charioteers and
gladiators, however, were quite different in many ways. They had differences in backgrounds, in risks
of their profession, in their professional careers, and in the various things they can stand for and
represent. Gladiators and Charioteers in Ancient Rome are brought up and trained in different ways.
The gladiators, for example, could either be prisoners of war, criminals, or free men . However, The
taint of becoming a gladiator essentially took away one s free status, even from those who entered the
profession voluntarily. One could say that all gladiators were slaves (Futrell 125). Being as everyone
is essentially a slave, free men becoming gladiators would have to sign an agreement giving away
their rights to choose. This wasn t something that you would see happen in the realm of chariot racing.
Although, both were still considered infamis essentially meaning they did not enjoy the rights of
citizens. The background in training was also quite different for these two. A gladiator would go to a
ludi ran by lunista who were in charge of acquisition and training of the gladiators. They would then
be assigned a doctor to go with the style they are to be trained in. This is different from the way
charioteers were brought up. Often time they would be trained from adolescents specifically for
chariot racing. These riders as well as their horses would be controlled by four different factions who
were responsible for the training, negotiating, and maintenance of the individual riders. The large
difference here coming in the early up bringing of the charioteers as well as the factions versus the
ludi. The risk in these two professions also varied greatly. Both involved a lot of risk, but it came in
different ways. For a gladiator everytime they suited up for the arena they had someone coming after
them with the soul purpose of inflicting pain or killing them whereas a charioteer risked death, but
many times due to just

The Distribution Network Of Amazon Essay
Page 102 5. The most recommended distribution network suited for highly differentiated products
would be drop shipping network. It is the process where shipping avoids the retailers, meaning the
retailer isn t informed to hold any type of inventory for the customers, and instead, the products are
directly delivered to the end customers from the manufacturers. In this network, the supply chain can
divert and expand low level of inventory to a higher level of availability. It also gives an opportunity
for manufacturers to reschedule the customization when necessary. This is excellent for sellers that are
able to build to order, and for end customers who wants highly differentiated products that are in low
demand but are highly valued and are willing to wait for delivery. 10. Amazon is a company that sells
many open product categories online by allowing customers to take the time to search and shop
through the product offerings. Many product categories that are offered on Amazon may include
device accessories, kindle devices, beauty, books, electronics, health personal care, etc. The foremost
product category that can offer the greatest advantage compared with a retail store chain is most
definitely the books category. Reason to this is that the company has expanded the customer s online
shopping experience by offering such a wide range of physical and electronic books, depending on the
preference of the customers. They are able to search for the top rated selling

The Impact Of Gaming On Today s Youth Essay
During the eighth week of study a forum post was submitted regarding gaming and young people by
T. Wilson (2016). This post questioned how people feel about the impacts of gaming on today s youth.
I responded with a summary of my experience with gaming and what it was to me by writing, ...
[gaming was] just another way to interact with my family. I then wrote about how I believe parents
should interact with their children through gaming. Mostly everyone agreed that it was ... ok in
moderation. (Waddell, 2016). Some, however, did write that gaming does more harm than good,
particularly in regards to social interaction. I disagreed and wrote that your neglecting the massive
benefit technology has had on communication... we can use what we learn [from gaming] in face to
face communications. During this incident I thought about the situation in a context of my own
experience growing up. I thought about how my parents raised me with technology and what they did
in regards to restrictions and interaction with me. I also thought about all the people who say that
gaming is bad for people and how I disagreed with that opinion because of the possible cognitive,
physical, psychological and, social benefits games can have. As the discussion went on I became
increasingly frustrated with what people were saying. I felt they ignored what I was trying to say. I
became increasingly agitated once people were talking about how detrimental gaming is on
communication. Although,

CBA Situation Analysis
To prevent further disruptions of league and staff operations, the recommendation for bi annual
meetings between the NFL and the player s union should be considered. This would provide both sides
a reasonable outlook period in which to improve the conditions of business. This time could be used
by the parties to undergo voluntary mediation for the union s members to come to a mutual agreement
into what the players want and feel they need. The main purpose of this suggestion would be to
alleviate the threat of strikes and lockouts due to expired CBA contracts.
The next thing that could have been done differently is allowing for amendments to be placed into
order in circumstances such as the replacement players in 1987 or the 132 day lockout

Analysis Of The Specialty Of Obstetrics And Gynecologists
Cesarean Section by Maternal Request
In the specialty of obstetrics, there is an ongoing major controversy about cesarean sections by
maternal request (CSMR). In the case that there is no other medical indication for a cesarean section,
mothers are requesting this procedure over a vaginal birth. More specifically the American College of
Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG, 2013) define it as a primary prelabor cesarean delivery on
maternal request in the absence of any maternal or fetal indications (p. 905). Over the past decade, in
the United States alone, there has been a 42% increase in elective primary cesarean sections (Shek
Dietz, 2013). Cesarean sections, alone, have reached it s highest rates in the United States with ...

From a different perspective, those outside the patient community take a more ethical approach,
suggesting that physicians should honor patient autonomy because it is, the mother s role to act as the
primary guardian of fetal well being (Minkoff, 2006, p. 311). Therefore, the mother should have the
autonomy to decide what happens to lives of her and the baby. With this innate right to self ownership,
it would be unjust for another to make decisions without respect to the patient and what happens to
these lives. This position on elective cesarean sections is the one I agree with and will argue for.
The physicians and governing body of ACOG are the majority in the argument against CSMR. Their
collective position on the debate declares, given the risks and benefits the Committee on Obstetric
Practice believes that in the absence of maternal and fetal indications for cesarean delivery, a plan for
vaginal delivery is safe and appropriate and should be recommended to patients (ACOG, 2013, p.
905). In addition to this guidance, there is foundational evidence about the potential maternal and fetal
risks of cesarean sections.
It is associated with risk of infection [66 68], wound complication [66,67], hemorrhage leading to
hysterectomy [66], anesthetic complications [66], longer hospital

The Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
Since its inception in 1982 the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, very much like its primary
architect Pierre Trudeau, has been one of the most celebrated yet controversial elements of Canadian
politics and governance. Revealing how this dynamic emerged requires a nuanced understanding of
the motivation behind the Charter and the techniques it employed to succeed. The Canadian Charter of
Rights and Freedoms, like the entire patriation process, was motivated by and mobilized support
through, constitutionally enshrining democratic core values, multiculturalism and a sense of
nationalism. However, it should not be seen as merely a symbolic gesture on the part of Britain and
Canada or merely a strengthening of core values. Instead it was a fundamental reinvention of
Canadian federalism that shifted power away from the provinces to the federal government and from
the Parliament to the courts. This was accomplished by incentivizing provincial acceptance,
developing common interests, and, as a result, formalizing a national identity where the protection and
expansion of core values was encouraged as fundamental. This dynamic allowed the reinvention to, by
and large, succeed. An understanding of the provisions and effects of the Charter and how it ultimately
succeed as a re invention of the Canadian Government requires knowledge of the patriation process.
Before 1982, the formal power to amend the Canadian Constitution was held by the British
Parliament. This was seen

The Boom from the Sky and The Joys of Nature as a Young Boy
The smell of the pine permeates the air I breath as I climb up the mountain trail with the excitement of
a child exploring new and exciting adventures. The buzzing of mosquitoes intensifies near a slow
moving stream I reach down with my hand to pick some of the western yarrow growing near the trail.
I have been told that it acts as a natural repellant. I chew on some of plant, flooding my mouth with an
almost pleasant, bitter sweet flavor. This hike up Red Ridge Mountain feels completely removed from
the world in which I grew up. We are miles from the nearest car or road, over 8500 feet above sea
level, and I am hearing sounds of nature that I have never yet experienced. Before reaching the
summit we set up camp. We brought almost nothing, not even tents, and we are learning to build a
lean to shelter for the night. The adults check the construction of our lean to s before we start a
campfire. Our camp was set up and we sat down for smores and dinner. Finally I climb into my
sleeping bag, feeling proud for the shelter I created with limbs, leaves, and only a small amount of
twine from my pack. I was ready for a great night s rest, listening the orchestra of natural sounds, and
the more still I got the more new instruments I was able to hear in this great symphony; the chittering
of bugs and the rustling of nocturnal animals was the music that finally lures me into slumber. I am
suddenly jarred out of sleep as the earth starts to shake. The leaves rustle, and my entire

Policy Making Analysis
The first three chapters of the Introduction to the Policy Process talks about how our society makes
policy and how different events in the country s history can have drastic effects on policy, and how
these different kinds of policy s can have an effect on the American people as well. In this country
policy making has been there from the start after the signing of the Declaration of Independence and
our separation from Great Britain. The readings mention what policy is and its purpose in our
government and the population at large, why policy making is important to study, the elements of the
policy making system, the different environments that can affect policy, and the historical and
structural contexts of policy making in this country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that the readings mentions that when we look at the policy making process, we should look
at the separation of powers. The separation of powers in our government, is the balance that was put in
place so that no branch has too much power, and that each branch can override a decision, that one
branch makes when it comes to policy. The three branches are the executive branch, which deals with
the president, the legislative branch which deals with the House of Representatives and the Senate,
and the Judicial Branch, which deals with the Supreme Court. Each branch has a separate job to do,
and can influence policy in different ways. For example, the Supreme Court had overruled a policy
that had said that schools could separate kids due to the color of the skin. The Famous court case of
Brown v. Board of Education changed this policy and allowed kids to go to the same school,
regardless of the color of their skin. Many people across the country knew that the separate schools
policy was wrong and the government did nothing to change it for many years. The court case
changed this and overruled a policy that had been put in place many years ago and created a new
policy in its

Oedipus Rex Critical Analysis
The ending of Oedipus Rex by Sophocles leaves its viewers imagining themselves in the main
character s position, grateful to be without his problems. All over the course of one day, Oedipus
learns that he has unintentionally manifested a prophecy which he thought he had previously resolved
by killing his father, replacing him as king, and marrying his wife, Oedipus mother. By the end of the
day, Oedipus is so distraught after finding out the truth and seeing that Jocasta, his mother, has killed
herself, he feels compelled to do something with all his misunderstood, piled up emotions. He takes
the gold pins off Jocasta s clothing and uses them to stab out his eyes. Oedipus takes part in this self
punishment because he believes that he, not the prophecy, is to blame for his actions, that being blind
will make him oblivious again, and because he thinks it will somehow make up for his actions so that
he can partially relieve himself of the bottomless guilt he now feels. Rather than blaming the gods and
their prophecy, Oedipus places all the guilt upon himself, and for this reason, Oedipus feels he is fully
deserving of inflicting pain onto himself in the form of gauging his eyes out. Though deep down he
may know that the future was not in his hands, when he pictures the past he sees himself, not the gods,
committing the murder, marrying his mother, etc. Because of this disconnect, he can t bring himself to
blame the gods, for in the end, he feels that he was the one in

Congruent Communication In The Classroom
Haim Ginott
Focuses on how adults can build the self concepts of children, especially emphasizing that adults
should avoid attacks on the child s character and instead focus on the situation or actions.
Finding effective alternatives to punishment.
Effective classroom management is dependent on the manner the teacher interacts with the students.
Teachers should maintain a secure, humanitarian, and productive classroom through the use of
congruent communication and appropriate use of praise.
Congruent communication essentially means to match the students feelings towards a certain situation
or current feelings about themselves.
A variety of ways a teacher can express congruent communication:
Deliver sane messages
Addresses the situation, not how the student handled the situation.
Express anger appropriately
Rather than go on a rampage telling the student how annoying they are or something wrong that they
did, walk the student(s) through your frustrations. For example, instead of saying, You are so
irresponsible when you... simply say, It makes me angry when you... .
Invite cooperation
Allow students to demonstrate their independence. For example, rather than selecting the seating chart
let the students pick; or an example we talked about in class, include the students in creating the
classroom rules.
Accept and acknowledge student feelings
Be someone that they can go to express their feelings. Walk the student(s) through their emotions and

Textual Analysis Of Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven
Textual Analysis of Edgar Allen Poe
The Raven
Michelle Zaharek
December 1, 2014
The Raven Edgar Allen Poe was a poet, author, editor, literary critic, and husband. His works have
been pulled apart many times and the DNA of his words dissected by critics and literary analytical
writers. He has been the center of attention, but he did not start off that way. Beneath his sad eyes is a
story that rarely gets told. When people think of Poe, they think of a gothic horror writer, not
necessarily an imaginative with a single effect of a literary work. He was also part of what they call
the American Romantic Movement. Many of his poems interact with a female named Lenore. But in
order to understand their relationship, you must first understand his history to fully break down his
most famous tale, The Raven. Poe was born on January 19, 1809. He was born into a family of two
actors. The father really destroyed the family when Edgar turned one. He would drink and become
very abusive, until he decided to walk out the door and never return. The following year his beloved
mother fell ill and died of consummation. This little child had a life almost predestined just from his
past. Edgar began writing at the young age of thirteen and worked very hard at it constantly. In 1830
Poe enrolled in WestPoint, and after WestPoint he went on to write full time, and in 1835 Poe married
his cousin whom he loved. He continued to write but was never seen fully as a writer by many until he

Women s Suffrage Dbq Essay
After the Civil War, the movement of women s suffrage had a new inspiration, as they used African
American suffrage as a stepping stone towards women s suffrage. Organizations, such as the National
Association Women s Suffrage Association and Women s Christian Temperance, had clear goals to
reform the urban areas with women s suffrage. As this empowering reform took place, women of the
late 19th and early 20th centuries started to question their own roles within society. As women faced
opposition and had diminished roles within society, the women of the late 19th century sought
equality.
An important reform for the Progressives, was women s suffrage. Their reforms reflected the goals

The Historical Period of Enlightenment
Enlightenment The historical period which is known as the Enlightenment occurred during the latter
half of the 17th century and the first half of the 18th century. The period was marked by a decided
increase placed on the importance of scientific and philosophical investigation. Political philosophy
was one of the most frequent and important branches of theorizing and discourse. One of the most
famous political theoreticians was a man named John Locke. His theories would revolutionize the way
that people thought about their governments and what right they had, if any, in questioning their
government. Later, the rebellion between the colonies and Great Britain and then the subsequent
founding of the United States of America would be based upon the writings of Locke, particularly his
theories of toleration, the concept of republic, and his social contract theory. In his book Letters
Concerning Toleration, John Locke wrote in response to the frequent holy wars on English history.
English history and their colonies were based upon Christian tenets, and the governments and armies
of the English throne were acting based upon their religious principles. Because of that cause, many
people died. It would logically then reason that if there were more toleration of religious differences,
there would be far fewer occasions of bloodshed because of religious viewpoint (McGrath 1998, page
214). This would become the basis then for the First Amendment of the United States Constitution

Space Exploration: Apollo missions
By Kenneth Hanks FDSCI 101 41 fall 2015 10/30/2015
What was the motivation that led to the discovery?
The Apollo program was conceived during the Eisenhower administration in 1960. Up until this time
the US space program had only supported one astronaut in flight. The Apollo program would carry 3
astronauts. The motivation was to be able to orbit 3 instead of 2 or 1. At the beginning of the research
and design into Apollo, the trips to the moon were not anticipated until the far future. The US was
perceived to be behind the USSR in space exploration. President Kennedy changed all that.

THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666
THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666 The Great Fire of London of 1666 that was started by
Thomas Farrinor s bakery caused the destruction of 80 percent of London and led to the creation of
insurance and firefighting companies. The fire marked a time of rebirth for the British capital since the
city had to rebuild entirely. The fire was quite an interesting event owing the fact that it caused such an
extreme amount of destruction and took the lives of only six people. Londoners remember the
seventeenth century as a time of desolation, but the events that occurred have impacted the world
today. With the creation of insurance and firefighting, not only are people protected, but their property

Farrinor immediately ran upstairs and when he reached the top, he saw flames, but the flames were not
near his ovens, or even close to a pile of wood near the ovens (Shields 80 81). The family then
searched for an escape route out of the house (Alagna 4). Unable to exit downstairs due to a blocked
path, the Farrinor family fled to the roof. The family begged their maid to follow them but she was
more afraid of heights than the fire. She stayed in the house and was the first person to die in the Great
Fire. The family, however, continued across rooftops until they were safe from the fire (Shields 81).
Subsequently, the flames were halfway across London Bridge soon after the fire was started. Two
groups of buildings, separated by a clearance, sat on London Bridge (Alagna 19). Pieces of the
burning buildings fell into the river causing the water to turn into smoke and steam (Hanson 53). The
sights and sounds of the London Bridge burning and falling in the water, created a dark perception for
onlookers. The previously mentioned clearance in the London Bridge was a successful firebreak in an
earlier fire, and it was successful again in the Great Fire. London was lucky that only one third of
London Bridge burned (Alagna 19). Furthermore, the fire continued to spread rapidly. Huge pieces of
wood fell, burning and blazing, forming bridges for the fire to spread to other buildings. Every house
became fuel to the fire, so it could grow

Antwone Dream Analysis
Psychodynamic therapists find that free association is helpful in treating their clients because it allows
them to say whatever comes to mind. The client is encouraged to talk about anything and everything
seeing as it may help them accept any kind of limitations or discord they may have. This process of
treatment would not be the best route for Antwone s therapist to take. Antwone struggles in creating
conversation out of nothing and when it comes to talking about his issues, that process is no different.
Dream analysis, however, could be an effective way for a counselor to treat the problems that
Antwone is having. As a currently angry individual, Antwone recalls some of the dreams he was
having when trying to sleep. The movie opens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many concepts that can be used to help conceptualize the problems that Antwone Fisher
experiences.
To begin conceptualizing Antwone s feelings through an Adlerian lens, a counselor might try to spot
inferiority feelings within the client. These feelings are always present and ultimately act as a
motivating force behind an individual s outward behavior. One could argue that Antwone s
inferiorities stem from the abuse he suffered at such a young age, which halted the average
development most humans encounter. In order for an individual to overcome these inferiorities, they
begin to act in compensative behaviors. Since Antwone s traumas began in infancy, he never had any
kind of stable environment and the one in which he was finally placed (the Tate s) caused him to
quickly feel inferior. Antwone may have ultimately developed an inferiority complex because he was
never able to compensate his inferiority feelings as an infant. The inferiority complex that Antwone
developed has prevented him from being able to cope with the demands of life enabling him to use
violence as a way to forget.
Antwone s problems can be further conceptualized when thinking about social interest and community
feeling. Social interest is being concerned about others just as much as an individual is concerned
about oneself. Community feeling is concerned with feeling connected to all of humanity. Antwone,
throughout the movie, is seen drawing, writing, and

The Godfather Essay examples
The Godfather is the story of a Mafia family. It follows the rise of Michael Corleone within the family.
Michael was once a war hero and did not want to be involved in the family business. When his father
is shot though, Michael takes revenge on the people who did it and becomes a part of the Mafia
lifestyle. When his older brother is murdered, Michael ascends to become the boss of the family, and
proves to be more ruthless than his father and brother combined. The scene that I am analyzing is one

There are no special camera angles, with the exception of a few close ups. The camera remains
stationary. The meaning of the scene is inferred through the editing and the content. Coppola uses this
montage in order to give the audience an insight into Michael. He contrasts religion and murder in
order to show the complexity of Michael. The newly baptized baby is without sin, and Michael is his
guardian into life. Michael is extremely sinful; he has ordered murder as he is taking the godfather
vows. The use of religion and murder contrasted is representative of Michael himself. It is used to
show the mix of good and evil in him. In Hegel s dialectic, Michael is the synthesis, a twisted mix of
good and evil. The line between the two has become blurred for him. He claims to reject Satan yet he
commits the worst sin. He claims to believe in god, yet does not follow the tenets of religion. He is the
guardian of this child without sin, and he is full of sin.
Coppola chose to use a montage in this segment.
The hard cuts between such polar opposites as baptism and murder reflects on the contrasts in the
main character. Overall, Coppola used this segment to communicate how twisted Michael has become.
Michael can no longer distinguish between good and evil or right and wrong. He only evaluates his
actions on whether or not they help him. It also shows the changes he has made in the movie. The

The Cause Of Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile Delinquency has been an issue in sociological and criminological context for decades. It is
basically at state when a person who is under the age of 18 years is antisocial and has a criminal
behavior. It has become a major social problem in the youth that is attracting a lot of youths to get into
crimes. Many researches have been done to find the cause of juvenile delinquency. Sociologists
explain this context using different theories. While investigating about the cause of juvenile
delinquency theorists come up with the factors associated with it such as racial status, gender
discrimination and the economic status. Childhood assaults are also seen as one of the factors that can
be in the form of sexual abuse or physical abuse faced by the child either in their family environment
or the school environment. Peer pressure as examined by many theorists provides a wide area for the
juvenile crimes to occur. The delinquent youth lack ethical standards and emotional feelings.
Impulsivity, social insensitivity and lack of guilt feeling make them perform socially unacceptable
behavior. They lose the ability to choose what is right and what is wrong. Juvenile delinquency rates
take a rise when young people see their fellow members of society as offenders. The way of them
being viewed as criminals in the society makes them more prone to become delinquents. The paper
discusses about the cause of juvenile delinquency and the problems that arise due to it. Later it would
focus on two sociological theories that would evaluate the criminal phenomenon.
In the criminal justice system juvenile delinquency is one of the highly rated problem. It is the society
itself that can increase the juvenile delinquency rates and on the other hand they are the ones who can
help deal this problem by reducing the crime. Among 1755 young students surveyed in Portugal,
29.4% reported they had committed at least one offence in their life time (Cardoso, Perista, Carrilho
Silva, 2013, p. 520). The problem arises when the adolescents or young people are unable to achieve
their dreams, than they try to take the path of crime by using illegal means to reach their expectations.
The probability of juvenile delinquency to take place

The Natural Gas Price Of Gas
There are various reasons that prediction of natural gas price is imperative to producers, suppliers,
traders, market makers, and bankers involved in natural gas exploration, production, transportation
and trading as well as consumers involved in utilization of natural gas (Mishra, 2012). The prices of
energy commodity including natural gas price are very volatile that make the parties engaged in a high
risk and uncertain activities. More accurate forecast of the price, help them to select an appropriate
strategy to lower the uncertainty and hedge the risk. This research attempt to find the best way to
model and forecast natural gas price among different approaches and choose the optimum practice to
use.
The natural gas price is also important in evaluation of gas reserves (Caldwell Heather, 1996). The
price of gas has huge effect on the value of the reserves which is a massive part of Gas Company s
assets. Fluctuation in gas price make an oscillation in company s value that increase the investment
risk which results a decrease in company s stock price.

Natural gas (also called marsh or swamp gas in older texts and more recently Landfill gas) is a

Discrimination Through Ethical Norms Essay
Analyzing Discrimination through Mythical Norms
An in depth analysis of Canadian law and it s process can account for the indication in development of
a mythical norm. A specific staple has been made in our society that has shaped the way in which our
expectations are altered and cropped to an extenuating level that puts individuals in our society at a
disadvantage. This can be illustrated through discrimination of sexism and racism which expose the
many forms of inequality that are reproduced in our legal system and society today. A mythical norm
is often a narrow set of characteristics that often exclude and disadvantage a broad spectrum of people.
When reading Lorde s (Lorde, 1995 p.192) interpretation of a mythical norm she writes Somewhere,
on the edge of consciousness, there is what I call a mythical norm, which each of us within our hearts
know that is not me. This refers to how a mythical norm is often described or referred to as a white,
thin, male, young, heterosexual, christian, financially secure as Barbara Perry says (Perry, 2011 p. 57)
when discussing that these characteristics are a trapping of power that is extremely present in society,

impelled by the demographic, economic, social and psychological attributes of the location (Desbarats

Occupation became the driving force for some; the numbers of professional immigration, however,
were lower than compared to other Asians. Unlike the low rate of workers, there is an increasing
number of Thai youngsters, in keeping with the national tradition of openness to Western influences
(Desbarats 306). It was believed that education through the United States would lead to professional
success. Student visas were only obtained if the student had financial support as well as the incentive
to go back to Thailand usually in the form of financial ties with their home country (Desbarats 307).
Many immigrants found themselves burdened by the conditions of living in the states. The financial
and psychological struggles were not worth it when immigrants were risking to construct networks,
maintain homeland ties and, ensure that remittances reach families left behind (Barkan 19).
Immigrants who stay in the states try to balance assimilation to the dominant American culture while
still want to feel a sense of their homeland. They try to make a connection whether it be through food,
familiar neighbors or the knowledge of language and dance which gets lost in the later generations.

Horus, an Ancient Egyptian god, is one of the most important gods in Ancient Egypt. There are many
different forms of Horus. Each of these different forms are treated as a different god. There is a very
popular story about Horus, which I will focus on in this essay. It described Horus as a son of Osiris
and Isis. According to ancient.eu, Osiris was worshiped the most, and as he is one of the oldest gods in
Ancient Egypt. He was considered to be the god of afterlife. Everyone respected and admired him.
This is because in Ancient Egypt, the afterlife was considered to be more important than real life. The

He was mostly thought of as the god of protection. According to Nanno Marinatos, author of Gods,

considered to be the role model for all rulers of the Kingdom of Egypt. It was believed that Horus
would guide the pharaohs and help them. Horus was also considered to be the god of the sun and sky.
His name and appearance proved this. Horus eyes were symbols for the sun and moon. His right eye
was the sun, and his left eye was the moon. Horus eyes became the moon and the sun when Set and
Horus had endlessly battled for the control over Egypt. They fought many times until the other gods
finally stopped them. They decided since Set had killed Osiris for the throne and Horus has killed no
one for the throne, that Horus will take the throne since it is his birth right. When Horus won the
battle, he became Horus the Elder. In the fight between Set and Horus, Set lost his testicle. Set was the
god of fertility. This is why the Egyptian desert cannot grow crops. Horus lost his left eye in the battle.
It became the moon, since it was very weak when compared to the sun, which was his right eye.

and, He who is above, over something . Horus was a man who had a falcon s head. The Eye of Horus

The eager to please and endearingly tame animals that we know today as the domestic dog (MacHugh,

Late Pleistocene canines that fall morphologically somewhere between this wolf and the modern dog
have been directly associated with early European human settlements as long ago as 40,000 BP
(Germonpré et al. 2009). The close relationships that one can see today between humans and their

By approximately 10,000 BP a new manner of existence had arisen within human societies, the
deliberate cultivation and manipulation of plants and animals for agriculture. The domestication of the
dog, from a now extinct Pleistocene wolf ghost population (Thalmann et al. 2013), is thought to have
occurred at least by 15,000 (Shannon et al. 2015), making it the first animal to be domesticated by
humans and the only animal to be domesticated before the advent of agricultural societies.
Additionally, while the first remains that researchers have been able to be confidently designated as

Canis cranial remains from the Czech Republic have been undertaken by Mietje Germonpré, Martina

laws and other restrictions. However, Britain s futile attempts to block the development of new
technologies in the American colonies led directly to the rise of the textile industry and the beginning
of the Industrial Revolution in the United States. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Navigation Acts forbade the American colonies to manufacture any finished goods, and these acts
defined anyone living within the British colonies as an English subject. The purpose of the Navigation
Acts was duel: to protect British shipping against competition from the Dutch, as well as from other
powerful foreign countries, and to grant a British monopoly on colonial produce, such as tobacco and
sugar, to the English merchants. Under these acts, the American colonists were limited to buying only
British goods and could only import and export goods in English ships rather than in their own vessels
(Balik). In addition to the Navigation Acts, the British also passed the Trade Acts, which were to
ensure that the entire British Empire was prosperous and that the trade of the various colonies was
complimentary to each other and to Britain. The British Parliament enacted additional acts that
became known as the Intolerable Acts. Colonists resisted the passage of the Stamp Act and Townshend
Acts, which ultimately resulted in the ever famous Boston Tea Party and an organized colonial boycott
of British goods. However, the British Parliament did not give up its right to tax its colonies.
Furthermore, Great Britain was able to prevent the flow of new technology to the American colonies
even while new machinery was being used to develop and enhance textile manufacturing in England.
This was due to the British parliament s outlaw of the emigration of any textile mechanics

Medusa Brewing Company Narrative Report
Narrative for Notice of Intent
Medusa Brewing Company
1 Houghton Street, Hudson MA
General
The site is located at the northwestern side of the intersection between Houghton Street and South
Street. The project site is shown in Figure One, Locus Map: 1 Houghton Street, Hudson MA.
The project site is labelled as Assessors Sheet 29, Lot 218 and is a historic mill complex. Therefore,
certain activities are exempted from requirements stated in 310 CMR 10.58(1) through (5), but Best
Management Practices (BMP) will still be applied.
The site area is currently vacant and is approximately 14,757 SF. The lot is bordered to the west by the
Danforth Brook, with Houghton Street to the east, South Street to the South, and a one story
commercial structure to the north. There is a footbridge southwesterly of the site which connects to a
parking lot. The site is flat with an elevation change of 1 foot from the northern property line to south
street.
The Danforth Brook is a perennial stream, with a running water depth of roughly one foot. The bottom
of the stream is covered with plants and various pieces of rubble. It is confined by stone walls, both of
which are over 100 years old. The riverfront is degraded because, parts of the stone wall are covered
by overgrowth and a tree has grown in the riverbed in an area adjacent to the footbridge. The wall is in
various states of disrepair with pieces of it lying in the riverbed.
Additionally, a small area of Bordering Land Subject to Flooding (BLSF), extends onto the western
portion of the property. Based on the FEMA Flood Insurance Study for Middlesex County from July
6, 2016, the elevation of the floodplain was determined to be at 204.2 feet. The flood zone area is
having been calculated to be approximately 4,588 SF. The actual area of the flood zone could vary
slightly because the site is flat and could have various undulations not considered in the survey.
Description of Existing Conditions
Prior to its demolition in 1999 the building housed a three story shoe factory. After its demolition it
was used as a drive through ATM until 2002, when the ATM was removed. Currently the lot is vacant
with low lying plant growth and random debris. The stone wall requires repair at

A. B. Westrick s Brotherhood Book Report
Grand Dragon, Grand Titan, Grand Cyclops, and Grand Wizard. These are all names given to
members with high authority in the Ku Klux Klan, or KKK. In the historical fiction novel,
Brotherhood by A.B. Westrick, fourteen year old Shadrach Weaver, along with his brother, Jeremiah,
and his Grandfather, are secretly members of the newly formed Ku Klux Klan. The ¨Brotherhood that
they call the Ku Klux Klan met almost every night in the novel, and they always planned negative
things, as in real life. In the novel, the Ku Klux Klan burned down a school for blacks in Richmond,
Virginia, which is similar to what the Ku Klux Klan did in the 1800s and 1900s. The Ku Klux Klan
exposed negative influences on the United States after the Civil War, and caused countless tragedies in
the United States. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Started by Confederate veterans, the name Ku Klux Klan comes from the greek word ¨kuklos meaning
circle or group. (www.britannica.com) The Klan goes by many names, including White Brotherhood,
Heroes of America, Constitutional Union Guards, and Invisible Empire. (legal
dictionary.thefreedictionary.com) These nicknames of the organization make it seem like what they
are doing is for a good cause, although, they are doing the exact opposite of that. They wore long
white robes with eye holes to see, and a long pointed hat. The Ku Klux Klan has had two eras of
existence, lasting from 1866 1872, ended by The Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, and made a comeback in
1915 and is still scattered through the U.S. today.

Athletic Trainer Case Summary
Terrell did retire to a really nice retirement community. His decision to retire from his work as an
Athletic Trainer was largely based on his deteriorating health. His job had high physical demands,
whether it was carrying injured athletes off the field and always carrying heavy medical kits.
Especially with his arthiritis worsening, even performing simple tasks has become very difficult. He
was also facing some pressure to retire and he believed it was due to ageism, discrimination based on
age (pg. 412). His employers had less confidence in his competence and ability to carry out his job
considering he was very old. Eventhough, as people age their muscle fibers shrink thereby decreasing
strength, he exercised daily and was on healthy diet, which would slow down the decline (pg. 415). He
was very proactive in maintaining his shape and strength which was a requirement of his job, but his
health problems were dampening his efforts. Furthermore, he wanted to spend more time with his son
and grandchildren, who were just entering adolescence. And after, his wife s death, he has been unable
to cope with the loneliness and was seeking to connect with people who had similar experiences as he
had and believe he could find them in the retirement community. He felt he needed to have sense of
belonging in a community, where he would be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So far he has 15 years to spend in his retirement period. He has always been very active person and
will continue to do so. The active theory of aging model definitely applies to him, eventhough, he can
not very active life as he did during his middle adulthood years primarily due to health. He can still
engage in volunteering activities where he could give other retirees physical training and could
become a health fitness expert. He does not intend to have his health problems destroy his life
completely, he intends to stay as fit and active as he can and for as long as he

Personal Price That The Tree Has Nothing Wrong With It Are...
IP 2 Development Reason 1
Individuals have to pay a personal price when they decide to strength and serve their own
individuality.
Two Part Pear Able
And someone says how horrible... there will be revulsion won t there?... demand for expulsion.. (
Swenson 88 97).
The non pear tree represents the individual in this part of the poem.
The tree has nothing wrong with it, infact its only difference is that it has no pears.
It is fairly tall tree sturdy, capable looking... exceptionally pleasing, ( Swenson 9 14).
Because the tree is different from its surroundings, it is faced with discrimination and judgement.
When a person is judged as different and described as horrible just because of the way they look,
The personal price that the tree pays is that it more prone and open to the judgement of those who are
conformists.
He Named Me Malala ( holistic) Holistically, Malala is an individual because she does not try to
conform or give up her values to appease the masses: the Taliban. She holds onto her inner strength
and continues to fight for her beliefs
Family Card Game (clip) I chose this life... and now I must continue it
Malala reflects upon the personal choice that she made to stand up for her human rights, specifically
the right for women to be educated. The personal choice that she makes threatens her life, forcing her
to leave her country. Even after almost being killed by the Taliban, Malala still speaks out about
human rights and the

  • 4. Analysis Of Multicultural London English One of English s most developing dialects is known as Multicultural London English, a sociolect of English. MLE is considered a young dialect mainly spoken by young, working class people in the multicultural neighbourhoods that incorporates both elements of Caribbean creole and other non native influences. Paul Kerswill, an investigator from Lancaster University carried out research on the theme of the emergence, acquisition, and diffusion of a new variety (2007 10.) Kerswill analysed language use in Hackney, an area in the East End of London originally associated with working class white Cockneys. However, due to post war reconstruction, many of the East End residents were transferred to new housing estates further east or to new towns in Essex. Immigrants started to emerge and the population started to increase. The earliest of immigrants to arrive were from the West Indies bringing over their Caribbean creole. Kerswill describes responses to MLE in the media, where it has been referred to as Jafaican , a term that sounds black . The sociolinguists term multiethnolect , then, reflects the fact that MLE is spoken by young people from all ethnic groups living in the multilingual inner city area. Other researchers of Multicultural London English are Jenny Cheshire and Sue Fox, who refers to this dialect as Multi ethnic youth dialect, suggesting that this sociolect isn t only spoken in London. • 7. Dreams And Dreams Are Important Or Meaningless Essay Dreams have been around since the beginning of time. There is often controversy over whether or not dreams are important or meaningless. Although many people believe that dreams are pointless and have no meanings to them, research and experimentation show that there can be many different interpretations of dreams. Dreams are hallucinations of the sleeping mind (Loftus Ketcham). Dreams can be very vivid, loud, and even emotional. This is why it is easy to confuse them with reality. Dreams are kind of like taking all of a person s wishes and emotions and putting them all in a little shadow world (Bynum) when they go to sleep at night. What is common in all these dreams is obvious. They completely satisfy wishes excited during the day which remain unrealized. They are simply and undisguisedly realizations of wishes. (Freud). A person may be experiencing an emotion or wishing for something without even realizing it at all. Dreams can sometimes show a person how they are truly feeling without even their own awareness of these feelings or wishes. A lot of a person s reality and emotions are used in their dreams, however, this is not always the case. Dreams can also be extremely bizarre, confusing, and even repetitive. This is where the interpretation of dreams comes into action. Many people find it hard to believe that when they have a dream over and over again that it does not mean anything. These types of dreams are called recurring dreams. Recurring dreams happen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. African American Literature And Literature Essay African American literature is the body of work produced in the United States by writers of African descent. This particular genre traces back to the works from the late eighteenth century by writers such as Phillis Wheatley to later reaching early high points with slave narratives and the Harlem Renaissance, and thus continuing today with authors such as Colson Whitehead and Maya Angelou. Among the themes and issues explored within African American literature are the roles of African Americans within the larger American society, African American culture, racism, slavery, and equality. African American writing has also tended to incorporate oral forms such as spirituals, gospel music, jazz, and rap. Dating back to the pre Revolutionary War period, African American writers have engaged in a creative dialogue with American letters. The result is a literature rich in culture and social insight. These pieces offer illuminating assessments of American identities as well as its history. Since the time of early slavery African American literature has been overlooked within the literature criticism. This essay thrives to show that within the English profession African American literature does belong alongside the great works such as A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and poetry as A Road less taken by Robert Frost. I will dive deep into history to not only investigate what critics think about African American literature, but why is it not held to a higher standard just as American ... • 9. Gladrioters And Roman Gladiators Response Paper #3 Gladiators vs. Charioteers Roman charioteers and Roman gladiators were at the pinnacle of the entertainment industry during ancient Roman times. They both had large followings, were keys to political power, and were the reasons for architectural masterpieces. Charioteers and gladiators, however, were quite different in many ways. They had differences in backgrounds, in risks of their profession, in their professional careers, and in the various things they can stand for and represent. Gladiators and Charioteers in Ancient Rome are brought up and trained in different ways. The gladiators, for example, could either be prisoners of war, criminals, or free men . However, The taint of becoming a gladiator essentially took away one s free status, even from those who entered the profession voluntarily. One could say that all gladiators were slaves (Futrell 125). Being as everyone is essentially a slave, free men becoming gladiators would have to sign an agreement giving away their rights to choose. This wasn t something that you would see happen in the realm of chariot racing. Although, both were still considered infamis essentially meaning they did not enjoy the rights of citizens. The background in training was also quite different for these two. A gladiator would go to a ludi ran by lunista who were in charge of acquisition and training of the gladiators. They would then be assigned a doctor to go with the style they are to be trained in. This is different from the way charioteers were brought up. Often time they would be trained from adolescents specifically for chariot racing. These riders as well as their horses would be controlled by four different factions who were responsible for the training, negotiating, and maintenance of the individual riders. The large difference here coming in the early up bringing of the charioteers as well as the factions versus the ludi. The risk in these two professions also varied greatly. Both involved a lot of risk, but it came in different ways. For a gladiator everytime they suited up for the arena they had someone coming after them with the soul purpose of inflicting pain or killing them whereas a charioteer risked death, but many times due to just ... • 10. The Distribution Network Of Amazon Essay Page 102 5. The most recommended distribution network suited for highly differentiated products would be drop shipping network. It is the process where shipping avoids the retailers, meaning the retailer isn t informed to hold any type of inventory for the customers, and instead, the products are directly delivered to the end customers from the manufacturers. In this network, the supply chain can divert and expand low level of inventory to a higher level of availability. It also gives an opportunity for manufacturers to reschedule the customization when necessary. This is excellent for sellers that are able to build to order, and for end customers who wants highly differentiated products that are in low demand but are highly valued and are willing to wait for delivery. 10. Amazon is a company that sells many open product categories online by allowing customers to take the time to search and shop through the product offerings. Many product categories that are offered on Amazon may include device accessories, kindle devices, beauty, books, electronics, health personal care, etc. The foremost product category that can offer the greatest advantage compared with a retail store chain is most definitely the books category. During this incident I thought about the situation in a context of my own experience growing up. I thought about how my parents raised me with technology and what they did in regards to restrictions and interaction with me. I also thought about all the people who say that gaming is bad for people and how I disagreed with that opinion because of the possible cognitive, physical, psychological and, social benefits games can have. Analysis Of The Specialty Of Obstetrics And Gynecologists Cesarean Section by Maternal Request In the specialty of obstetrics, there is an ongoing major controversy about cesarean sections by maternal request (CSMR). In the case that there is no other medical indication for a cesarean section, mothers are requesting this procedure over a vaginal birth. More specifically the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG, 2013) define it as a primary prelabor cesarean delivery on maternal request in the absence of any maternal or fetal indications (p. 905). From a different perspective, those outside the patient community take a more ethical approach, suggesting that physicians should honor patient autonomy because it is, the mother s role to act as the primary guardian of fetal well being (Minkoff, 2006, p. 311). Therefore, the mother should have the autonomy to decide what happens to lives of her and the baby. With this innate right to self ownership, it would be unjust for another to make decisions without respect to the patient and what happens to these lives. This position on elective cesarean sections is the one I agree with and will argue for. The physicians and governing body of ACOG are the majority in the argument against CSMR. Their collective position on the debate declares, given the risks and benefits the Committee on Obstetric Practice believes that in the absence of maternal and fetal indications for cesarean delivery, a plan for vaginal delivery is safe and appropriate and should be recommended to patients (ACOG, 2013, p. 905). In addition to this guidance, there is foundational evidence about the potential maternal and fetal risks of cesarean sections. • 14. The Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms Since its inception in 1982 the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, very much like its primary architect Pierre Trudeau, has been one of the most celebrated yet controversial elements of Canadian politics and governance. Revealing how this dynamic emerged requires a nuanced understanding of the motivation behind the Charter and the techniques it employed to succeed. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, like the entire patriation process, was motivated by and mobilized support through, constitutionally enshrining democratic core values, multiculturalism and a sense of nationalism. However, it should not be seen as merely a symbolic gesture on the part of Britain and Canada or merely a strengthening of core values. Instead it was a fundamental reinvention of Canadian federalism that shifted power away from the provinces to the federal government and from the Parliament to the courts. This was accomplished by incentivizing provincial acceptance, developing common interests, and, as a result, formalizing a national identity where the protection and expansion of core values was encouraged as fundamental. This dynamic allowed the reinvention to, by and large, succeed. An understanding of the provisions and effects of the Charter and how it ultimately succeed as a re invention of the Canadian Government requires knowledge of the patriation process. Before 1982, the formal power to amend the Canadian Constitution was held by the British Parliament. This was seen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The three branches are the executive branch, which deals with the president, the legislative branch which deals with the House of Representatives and the Senate, and the Judicial Branch, which deals with the Supreme Court. Each branch has a separate job to do, and can influence policy in different ways. • 18. Oedipus Rex Critical Analysis The ending of Oedipus Rex by Sophocles leaves its viewers imagining themselves in the main character s position, grateful to be without his problems. All over the course of one day, Oedipus learns that he has unintentionally manifested a prophecy which he thought he had previously resolved by killing his father, replacing him as king, and marrying his wife, Oedipus mother. By the end of the day, Oedipus is so distraught after finding out the truth and seeing that Jocasta, his mother, has killed herself, he feels compelled to do something with all his misunderstood, piled up emotions. He takes the gold pins off Jocasta s clothing and uses them to stab out his eyes. Oedipus takes part in this self punishment because he believes that he, not the prophecy, is to blame for his actions, that being blind will make him oblivious again, and because he thinks it will somehow make up for his actions so that he can partially relieve himself of the bottomless guilt he now feels. Rather than blaming the gods and their prophecy, Oedipus places all the guilt upon himself, and for this reason, Oedipus feels he is fully deserving of inflicting pain onto himself in the form of gauging his eyes out. Though deep down he may know that the future was not in his hands, when he pictures the past he sees himself, not the gods, committing the murder, marrying his mother, etc. Because of this disconnect, he can t bring himself to blame the gods, for in the end, he feels that he was the one in ... • 21. Textual Analysis Of Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven Textual Analysis of Edgar Allen Poe The Raven Michelle Zaharek December 1, 2014 The Raven Edgar Allen Poe was a poet, author, editor, literary critic, and husband. His works have been pulled apart many times and the DNA of his words dissected by critics and literary analytical writers. He has been the center of attention, but he did not start off that way. Beneath his sad eyes is a story that rarely gets told. When people think of Poe, they think of a gothic horror writer, not necessarily an imaginative with a single effect of a literary work. He was also part of what they call the American Romantic Movement. Many of his poems interact with a female named Lenore. But in order to understand their relationship, you must first understand his history to fully break down his most famous tale, The Raven. Poe was born on January 19, 1809. He was born into a family of two actors. The father really destroyed the family when Edgar turned one. He would drink and become very abusive, until he decided to walk out the door and never return. The following year his beloved mother fell ill and died of consummation. This little child had a life almost predestined just from his past. Edgar began writing at the young age of thirteen and worked very hard at it constantly. Organizations, such as the National Association Women s Suffrage Association and Women s Christian Temperance, had clear goals to reform the urban areas with women s suffrage. As this empowering reform took place, women of the late 19th and early 20th centuries started to question their own roles within society. As women faced opposition and had diminished roles within society, the women of the late 19th century sought equality. An important reform for the Progressives, was women s suffrage. The Historical Period of Enlightenment Enlightenment The historical period which is known as the Enlightenment occurred during the latter half of the 17th century and the first half of the 18th century. The period was marked by a decided increase placed on the importance of scientific and philosophical investigation. Political philosophy was one of the most frequent and important branches of theorizing and discourse. One of the most famous political theoreticians was a man named John Locke. His theories would revolutionize the way that people thought about their governments and what right they had, if any, in questioning their government. Later, the rebellion between the colonies and Great Britain and then the subsequent founding of the United States of America would be based upon the writings of Locke, particularly his theories of toleration, the concept of republic, and his social contract theory. In his book Letters Concerning Toleration, John Locke wrote in response to the frequent holy wars on English history. English history and their colonies were based upon Christian tenets, and the governments and armies of the English throne were acting based upon their religious principles. Because of that cause, many people died. It would logically then reason that if there were more toleration of religious differences, there would be far fewer occasions of bloodshed because of religious viewpoint (McGrath 1998, page 214). THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666 THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666 The Great Fire of London of 1666 that was started by Thomas Farrinor s bakery caused the destruction of 80 percent of London and led to the creation of insurance and firefighting companies. The fire marked a time of rebirth for the British capital since the city had to rebuild entirely. The fire was quite an interesting event owing the fact that it caused such an extreme amount of destruction and took the lives of only six people. The family begged their maid to follow them but she was more afraid of heights than the fire. She stayed in the house and was the first person to die in the Great Fire. The family, however, continued across rooftops until they were safe from the fire (Shields 81). Subsequently, the flames were halfway across London Bridge soon after the fire was started. Two groups of buildings, separated by a clearance, sat on London Bridge (Alagna 19). Pieces of the burning buildings fell into the river causing the water to turn into smoke and steam (Hanson 53). The sights and sounds of the London Bridge burning and falling in the water, created a dark perception for onlookers. There are many concepts that can be used to help conceptualize the problems that Antwone Fisher experiences. To begin conceptualizing Antwone s feelings through an Adlerian lens, a counselor might try to spot inferiority feelings within the client. These feelings are always present and ultimately act as a motivating force behind an individual s outward behavior. One could argue that Antwone s inferiorities stem from the abuse he suffered at such a young age, which halted the average development most humans encounter. In order for an individual to overcome these inferiorities, they begin to act in compensative behaviors. Since Antwone s traumas began in infancy, he never had any kind of stable environment and the one in which he was finally placed (the Tate s) caused him to quickly feel inferior. Antwone may have ultimately developed an inferiority complex because he was never able to compensate his inferiority feelings as an infant. The inferiority complex that Antwone developed has prevented him from being able to cope with the demands of life enabling him to use violence as a way to forget. Antwone s problems can be further conceptualized when thinking about social interest and community feeling. The newly baptized baby is without sin, and Michael is his guardian into life. Michael is extremely sinful; he has ordered murder as he is taking the godfather vows. The use of religion and murder contrasted is representative of Michael himself. It is used to show the mix of good and evil in him. In Hegel s dialectic, Michael is the synthesis, a twisted mix of good and evil. The line between the two has become blurred for him. He claims to reject Satan yet he commits the worst sin. He claims to believe in god, yet does not follow the tenets of religion. He is the guardian of this child without sin, and he is full of sin. Coppola chose to use a montage in this segment. The hard cuts between such polar opposites as baptism and murder reflects on the contrasts in the main character. Overall, Coppola used this segment to communicate how twisted Michael has become. • 34. The Cause Of Juvenile Delinquency Juvenile Delinquency has been an issue in sociological and criminological context for decades. It is basically at state when a person who is under the age of 18 years is antisocial and has a criminal behavior. It has become a major social problem in the youth that is attracting a lot of youths to get into crimes. Many researches have been done to find the cause of juvenile delinquency. Sociologists explain this context using different theories. While investigating about the cause of juvenile delinquency theorists come up with the factors associated with it such as racial status, gender discrimination and the economic status. Childhood assaults are also seen as one of the factors that can be in the form of sexual abuse or physical abuse faced by the child either in their family environment or the school environment. Peer pressure as examined by many theorists provides a wide area for the juvenile crimes to occur. The delinquent youth lack ethical standards and emotional feelings. Impulsivity, social insensitivity and lack of guilt feeling make them perform socially unacceptable behavior. They lose the ability to choose what is right and what is wrong. Juvenile delinquency rates take a rise when young people see their fellow members of society as offenders. The way of them being viewed as criminals in the society makes them more prone to become delinquents. The paper discusses about the cause of juvenile delinquency and the problems that arise due to it. Later it would focus on two sociological theories that would evaluate the criminal phenomenon. In the criminal justice system juvenile delinquency is one of the highly rated problem. It is the society itself that can increase the juvenile delinquency rates and on the other hand they are the ones who can help deal this problem by reducing the crime. Among 1755 young students surveyed in Portugal, 29.4% reported they had committed at least one offence in their life time (Cardoso, Perista, Carrilho Silva, 2013, p. 520). Discrimination Through Ethical Norms Essay Analyzing Discrimination through Mythical Norms An in depth analysis of Canadian law and it s process can account for the indication in development of a mythical norm. A specific staple has been made in our society that has shaped the way in which our expectations are altered and cropped to an extenuating level that puts individuals in our society at a disadvantage. This can be illustrated through discrimination of sexism and racism which expose the many forms of inequality that are reproduced in our legal system and society today. A mythical norm is often a narrow set of characteristics that often exclude and disadvantage a broad spectrum of people. When reading Lorde s (Lorde, 1995 p.192) interpretation of a mythical norm she writes Somewhere, on the edge of consciousness, there is what I call a mythical norm, which each of us within our hearts know that is not me. This refers to how a mythical norm is often described or referred to as a white, thin, male, young, heterosexual, christian, financially secure as Barbara Perry says (Perry, 2011 p. 57) when discussing that these characteristics are a trapping of power that is extremely present in society, and often steers the ways in which we rationalize things.
