overall mission of its success. One of Palmer s Concrete strengths at the beginning of its conception is
experience.
Strength
According to Floyd Palmer, (personal communication, November 15, 2015), experience is the
founding strength to Palmer s concrete as Floyd himself has a combined thirty years. Total Quality
Management is important for Palmer s concrete, therefore as C.E.O focusing on the customer, having
a strategic approach to improvement, and encourage mutual respect, plus teamwork is all important

Methods And Approaches For The Collection And...
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter of the research intends to provide basic understanding of the adopted research design,
methods and approaches for the collection and interpretation of data (Kumar Phrommathed, 2005).
The methodology does not only offers the fundamentals of adopted research methods, but also intends
to present the rationale for the selected research i.e. specific research methods and techniques. In
addition, it provides a description of the research instruments through which the relevant information
was collected and gathered in the research study.
3.1 Research Design
The researcher decided to use primary data for the research study (Burns Bush, 2006). The use of
primary data provided the researcher with first hand information regarding the topic of interest, which
was then used to address the research questions. Considering the nature of the research study, the
researcher used quantitative research design to develop, predict, and address the research questions
(Polkinghorne, 2005).
3.2 Research Philosophy
In light of the literature, research philosophy is defined as the process of collecting and analysing
collected data in standardised and unique manner (Crossan, 2003). The most commonly used research
philosophies include; realism, positivism, and interpretivism. On the basis of the research objectives
and design, the most appropriate research philosophy was positivism.
According to positivist philosophy, the researcher remains disconnected from the

2. The structure succeeded in focusing the company on completing tasks
3. It accounted for a greater degree of control
Problems Created or persistent:
1. Confusion in defining the functions How many distinct functions should be created, should
marketing be a part of sales, should there be separate finance, human resource and accounting teams,
etc.
2. Confusion in assigning new management roles Who should head each of the teams, could the same
management personnel handle the responsibilities with the rapid growth of company, etc.
3. Horizontal reporting structure of the functions displeased the Board of Directors. The board wanted
a traditional hierarchical structure.
4. Politics came into existence People became concerned about their titles and desk locations
5. Heads of the teams started creating sub functions within their team Organizational chart grew
vertically and horizontally and managerial roles kept on increasing within sub functions.
6. Teams became polarized The distinction between various departments inhibited working

Financial Concepts
Financial Principles and Concepts

Financial Principles and Concepts Financial concepts can be used when a company is considering
various options. Which options cost more and which options will result in higher gains are two of the
financial factors that affect decisions. In the University of Phoenix (n.d.) scenario, Guillermo s
Furniture Store has several options to consider which can help bring the revenues back to the
company. This paper explains and relates three basic principles and concepts to the scenario.
Financial Principles When it comes to corporate finance, there are many principles that are important.
These include the principles of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Financial Concepts Financial concepts are just as easily related to the furniture store scenario as the
principles. The following concepts are only a few of the many financial concepts that are important
when making business decisions. Guillermo s furniture store provides many ways to look at these
concepts. An important financial concept, that can be applied in almost any situation, financial or not,
is the concept of the opportunity cost, or the difference between the value of one action and the value
of the best alternative, (Emery, Finnerty, Stowe, 2007, p. 20). Options are very valuable and Guillermo
had both the call option, the right to buy another company, and the put option, the right to sell his
company (Emery, Finnerty, Stowe, 2007). Guillermo s opportunity cost would be the cost of not
choosing one option, to buy or sell, over the other. Another cost concept that can be applied involve
sunk costs, costs that have already been incurred and subsequent decisions cannot change them
(Emery, Finnerty, Stowe, 2007). A sunk cost for Guillermo would be the materials used in his special
stain that he had already purchased before he chose the broker option where his special stain was no
longer needed. The zero sum game concept is when a transaction occurs where one party gains at the
expense of the other (Emery, Finnerty, Stowe, 2007). In this scenario, if

The Statue Of Athena Parthenos
It was dedicated to the city s deity Athena. The temple was made to give a statue made in Athena s
honor a home. When Athena led the Greek forces during the Persian wars, the people of Athens
thought the world needed to see her success through a statue. Pheidias began sculpting the statue in
447 BCE. The statue would remain the city s symbol for thousands of years until it completely
disappeared from the historical record during the Late Antiquity period. Some sculpture details and
descriptions of the statue allowed the piece to be accurately reconstructed.
The Parthenon was built to protect the Statue of Athena Parthenos. It was built in Athens, Greece on
the hill of the Acropolis . With the supervision of Phidias, Ictinus and Callicrates designed the temple.
The foundation of the temple was made out of limestone and the columns were made out of pentelic
marble. The Parthenon construction cost the Athenian treasury 469 silver talents. 1 It is unknown how
much money that is, but we do know that 1 talent was enough to pay a crew on a warship for a
month.1
Temples in ancient Greece were built to only be viewed from the outside. The Parthenon was designed
to create a smooth transition from the inside to the outside. At the entrance to the Parthenon, if a
viewer s gaze went upward, the viewer would see the birth of Athena. As the viewer s gaze beings to
shift downward, they would see the arrephores folding the peplos among the Olympian gods. Below

Objectivity In Autophenonmenology And Heterophenomenology.
Objectivity in Autophenonmenology and Heterophenomenology
In the journal How to Study Human Consciousness Empirically, Daniel Dennett claims that people are
often just wrong about what they are doing and how they are doing it. Rather than having an objective
and complete understanding of our own intentions and processes, we tend to use assumptions as
knowledge, alter facts to align with our beliefs, and theorize about causes and effects. As a result,
studies of traditional phenomenology (referred to in this situation as autophenomenology) are often
clouded by personal biases and misinterpretations. The evidence of this confabulation is very similar
to a curious child it reveals itself through one repeated question: why? For example, ... Show more

This intrinsic subjectivity is important to keep in mind when studying consciousness from a
heterophenomenological perspective. The only true basis we have to determine the individual
experience of another person is what they communicate to us. If this communication is inherently
jumbled with misunderstandings and theories of one s qualia, the data on which heterophenomenology
is based is flawed and, consequently, so is heterophenomenology itself. Rather than providing a
scientific third person view of consciousness, it creates more of a collective fictional narrative that
describes the average experiences of others. In analogous terms, heterophenomenology aims to create
a textbook, but can only produce a pop culture magazine. This view may be debated by analyzing the
validity of personal experience. The fact that an individual s view of their own internal processes is
flawed could be seen as irrelevant; in the end, what truly matters to the study of consciousness is what
one is experiencing. If what one believes differs from the truth, does this incongruity not reveal key
factors of consciousness? Furthermore, these subjective claims can be cross referenced with scientific
facts to neutralize human error. This can be seen in one of the examples above, in which an individual
claims that they went to a restaurant because they were hungry because they had not eaten in

Examples Of Gender Bias In Julius Caesar
In sexism, gender bias has existed throughout history and still exists today. Gender bias is frequently
called sexism or gender discrimination. A study by four researchers, Kelly Jones, Cay Evans, Ronald
Byrd, and Kathleen Campbell, analyzed videotapes of teachers while they taught the students in the
classroom, then they had the teachers watch themselves on the video while pointing out the gender
biased attitudes, languages and behavior; most teachers were surprised to see how they gave their
attention on one gender over the other and the unintentional gender bias happening in the classroom
(A World of Gender Bias, 2015). Researchers recommended methods for the teachers to use when

Sexism puts a barrier on what society views as acceptable for a man and woman to do. It also may be
true that men and women are not necessarily equal physically. Men are scientifically proven are
stronger than women physically in terms of muscles and athletic ability. Men are physically stronger
than women, who have, on the average, less total muscle mass, to the total body mass and men also
have denser, stronger bones, tendons and ligaments (Burton, 2012). Men tend to be larger than women
in size which makes them tend to carry out more muscles and more muscles normally points toward
having more strength than women. But on the other hand, people should approach fairness and not
equality because sexism has negative impacts on the people which causes them to commit suicide. In
Antigone, Antigone was a strong, courageous and an independent person and there was no definite
evidence that Antigone was strong and brave person but based on what the readers gather from the
play Antigone seems psychologically capable of the things that she did more than the other characters.
The leading cause of death of women ages 15 to 19 worldwide is suicide and the most expected reason
is sexism and gender discrimination (Valenti, 2015). In Antigone, Antigone buries her brother because

Second Wave Feminism In The 1960s And 1970s
Second wave feminism in the 1960s and 1970s, in conjunction with other social movements, built a
foundation for much of the activist and intellectual work that followed. However, there was an
assumption of whiteness in the second wave feminist movement as well as a prominence of
heteronormativity, which blinded most of the populace to activist work done by women of color and
lesbians. For example, there was a whole strata of work in lesbian and gay scholarship which date
from the early 1970s which came out of the gay liberation movement. Lesbians (often in association
with Jewish women) led the way among white women in articulating a politic that accounted for white
women s position as both oppressed and oppressor. It can thus be appreciated ... Show more content

not easy to find. Women who had a desire to create such atmospheres were unable because they had

Space Shuttle Experiment
The Space Shuttle was an interesting exhibit with many fascinating attractions. There were a lot of
connections between how the spaceship works and our class, electricity and magnetism. One of the
main connections between these two were the tires on the space shuttle. The spaceship only used one
set of tires per trip because it needed to have a lot of traction in order to stop the ship in time which
means that they can not be reused. Throughout the trip however, the tires go through a lot of change.
Once they escape the Earth s atmosphere, they lose a lot of pressure. The air inside the tires could go
through a phase change that would cause energy be created which in return energy is calculated by
Q=mLf.
The next piece that helped me gain insight into how the physics of our class is used in the space
program was a sample of the control room in NASA s headquarters. I saw how they use infrared
displays to check the spaceship s surroundings. The infrared displays use multiple concepts from our
class, including infrared spectrums and frequency. These infrared spectrums can be measured with

from the heat of leaving the atmosphere. Again, the entire ship will expand due to this extreme heat
blast. Here, you not only have to take into account the thermal expansion, but you also have to account
for volume expansion 흙V=βV0흙T. Towards the end of the exhibit, I learned that there are close to
2.5 million moving parts on the ship. Even though our Physics 20B class only touches on the basics of
thermodynamics and electricity, many of the concepts we have learned are observable in the space

Subliminal Messages Of Gender-Role Stereotypes
Subliminal and direct messages of gender role stereotyping can be found in advertisements for
children s toys, television cartoons, foods, and many other items that are marketed towards young
children. Specifically, children in the age ranges of six to ten years old. For example, McDonald s
Restaurant has a new Happy Meal commercial that runs often on television. Actually, it is a set of

intelligent math language and the little girl is worried about her pretty smile. However, the product in
the two commercials are the same but the portrayals of the children in the commercials are vastly
different. The commercials are examples of the types of gender role stereotyping that occurs often in
advertisement. Advertisements that push gender role stereotypes on young children should be banned
from television. Television advertisement are among the leading ways children are exposed to

decisions about the post war world, and to further their own, often imperialistic, prerogatives.
The Treaty of Versailles agreed upon in 1919 set in motion events that would be direct causes of
World War II. According to Robert Cowley, the treaty stripped Germany of many territories, including
Eupen Malmeacutedy, given to Belgium, Alsace Lorraine to France, large amounts of eastern lands to
Poland, the Memel region to Lithuania, and most of the Schelswig area of the Danish peninsula to
Denmark. Germany lost all of her overseas colonies as well. It also forced Germany to limit their army
to 100,000 men, and forbade them certain types of weapons common to modern armies. The worst
part of all was that Germany was made to assume all the guilt for the war, and forced them to pay an
amount of war reparations unspecified at first, then set around 33 billion gold marks(Cowley). World

My Personal Development Of Business
Personally, it has always been hard for me to stay organized and develop plans to achieve whatever it
is I am doing if I do not have passion for it. I have always had a dislike for most of the things I have
learned in school, but developed a passion for the world of business. Tony Hsieh said, Chase the
vision [or plan], not the money; the money will end up following you. Over the past years, my
intellectual development involving business has resulted in a growth of my desire to learn and succeed
in school.
One day I was helping my dad pressure wash one of our rental houses. After finishing, I realized that it

children. There is a great importance on knowing how much technology is too much, what kind of
content is appropriate or beneficial, and how to protect children from situations that occur in online
platforms, such as cyber bullying.
Our society has made astounding advancements in the world of technology, and as a result it is
becoming increasingly integrated into the daily lives of adults and children alike. Children seem to be
spending less time outdoors and doing other activities than they are on the computer, watching
television, or playing video games. There is a legitimate concern for children who seem to use media
with excess. Adults often wonder, how much is too much. There is differing opinion among many on
the answer. There are benefits and consequences to prolonged media use, that need to be examined in
order to discover and promote a healthy balance.
There can be substantial advantages to incorporating the use of technology into a child s education.

High School Should Not Be Legal
What is the most common reason why high school would go to college? My old friend Sean Kisch is
going to graduate with a major in music. His eldest sister will be done with her degree in modern
dance this semester. Looking at myself, I am not that far along. I attempted to navigate around college
because it was seen as too expensive. The mountain of debt for going to a private Christian college is
to grate to pay off. Most people are not made out of money. The money may not be the case because
an alternative does exist, it just is not as glorious. A person can obtain an associate s degree at a
community college for considerably less. Which is the choice I have made. I remember watching part
of my brothers Dave Ramsey financial piece university video. It stated that most high school teens
have the expectation of making mountains of cash. Most expected after college, they would make
around one hundred thousand dollars or more. That figure is much lower, an entry level position with
a college degree is between thirty and thirty five thousand. If you survive the odds of finishing school,
there is still the mammoth task of finding a job. The majority of student who graduate do not have any
not enough experience to enter most jobs. My friend Sean is going to Seedarville Univercity in Ohio,
he will have around forty to eighty thousand dollars of debt unless his parents are paying for it. My
own parent told me they would not pay for my school, because my parent not not make

1.) In chapter 1, Black women slaves were defined as either a jezebel or mammy . In detail define the
characteristics of a jezebel and mammy . Why were black women defined in these two extreme ways?
By contrast, how were Southern white women characterized? * One of the most standout images of
black women in white slavery America was of a woman who ran entirely off of her sex drive, a
Jezebel. A jezebel was considered to be the complete opposite of a proper white woman. She was
thought to have little to none religious affiliation. A jezebel took no instances to cover her body, and
showed no signs of prudery. The idea that black women were over sexualized first ... Show more

Because of her expertise in all domestic matters, she was the premier house servant and all others
were her subordinates. This, therefore, is the broad outline of Mammy. She was a woman completely
dedicated to the white family, especially to the children of that family. She was the house servant who
was given complete charge of domestic management. She served also as friend and advisor. She was,
in short, a surrogate mistress and mother, giving into the modern day nanny. The Mammy image is
fully as misleading as that of Jezebel. Both images have enough instances in reality to lend credibility
to stereotypes that would profoundly affect black women. For instance, Black women served in all
capacities, from cook to waiting maid, or seamstress. In very wealthy Southern households there were
many female servants. Children grew very attached to Mammy, as she was seen as their primary
caregiver. Being a Mammy was idyllic for a slave women, for they were given better care and the
work wasn t as tasking. Hard as cleaning, cooking, sewing, dairy work, and child care were, they were
not as physically taxing as a sun up to sun down day in the cropbe it sugar, rice, or cotton. On the
whole, house women could expect to eat better, dress better, and get better medical care than field
women, if only because they were more familiar to the master and mistress, not to mention nearer to

Hydrologic Cycle Of The Hydrological Cycle
In this assignment, I shall be examining the hydrological cycle and I shall be answering the following
questions provided in the D2L. I will be showing my understanding/knowledge, thinking and
communication.
Define:
¬ Condensation: The process where water vapor or in other words (gas) transitions into water droplets
(a liquid). This is when we begin to see clouds form.
¬ Evaporation: The change of the state from water to water vapor, an estimated average 47 inches is
evaporated into the atmosphere from the ocean each year.
¬ Sublimation: It is the process where ice and snow change into water vapor. They are able to do that
without moving through the liquid phase
¬ Evamp transpiration: The cumulative loss by evaporation and transpiration.
To begin with, the hydrologic cycle doesn t have an area where the sequences commence. Therefore, it
will begin in the ocean since that s where the most of the earth s water exists. The energy from the sun
heats the ocean water, causing it to evaporate. Condensation, the water vaporizes into water vapor.
Subsequently, the vapor ascends into the atmosphere condensation is crucial to the hydrologic cycle
because it is in charge of forming the clouds. Sublimation is the process where ice directly converts
into water vapor without converting into liquid. Furthermore, it has a slower process than evaporation.
Precipitation, clouds begin to form and it begins to precipitate due to either wind or temperature
change. Transpiration,

World War I And Great War
World war one was one the biggest wars in recorded history. It lasted from 1914 1918 and was a brutal
conflict in Canadian history. More than 60,000 Canadians died in this war. When the First World War
began in the year of 1914, some believe that it would last for a long time. Many young individuals in
Canada and others saw this war as a privilege to travel, adventure, and great beauty. Some individuals
were afraid that the conflict would be over before they could get into the battle. Many people signed
up dreaming that they would have the honour of fighting for the British Empire, to which Canada
belonged. The somewhat Great War was different in the dreamy vision than it was in reality. This war

Some of the causes of world war one are imperialism, militarism, nationalism, and alliances.
Imperialism is when one country rules over another through establishment of colonies. Imperialism
resulted from Industrialization, which was needed for raw goods and markets for manufactured goods.
The countries fought with each other over colonies. Militarism was used for building a strong military
and in order for that country to have its interests dominate the government. In the past, war was seen
as something that was acceptable to solve conflicts and enhance a country. Some examples of
imperialism include: naval arms race between Great Britain and Germany. Nationalism is a strong
feeling of loyalty and protection of culture and need of ethnic group to have a country that is their
own. Alliances are countries that form cooperative groups in order to protect everyone s interests.
However, the most significant cause of world war one was industrialization, which had fueled
imperialism, and Nationalism. Together they both caused three factors that led to war: German
unification, territorial rivalries, and economic competition.
The Great powers were prepared to participate in the war because in the 15th century, some European
nations were expanding their territory forcefully. Countries that were powerful used imperialism by
creating colonies all over the world in order to create empires. They used the land and resources of the
nations that were weak and controlled by the great

Animal Experimentation Is Necessary For Medical Purposes
For decades, the use of animal experimentation has played a vital role in science and has lead to the
development of numerous vaccines. However, since it s beginning, numerous amounts of people have

organizations have worked to try and abolish animal testing in order to protect animal rights. Against
their accusations and beliefs, scientist disagree greatly with the extinction of animal testing because of
its value as well as importance to science. Animal experimentation is necessary for medical purposes
due to the fact that it has led to many groundbreaking and beneficial advancements in science. The
practice of using animals in medical research has led to significant scientific leaps in the treatment of

INTRODUCTION In my paper I decided to write about Harley Davidson Motorcycles influence in
Saudi Arabia and the Arab nations in general. I selected this topic in regards to a comment that my
professor, Dr. Thomas Coyle, for MTML 4330 mention during one of his lectures. During Dr. Coyle
lecture he mention that Saudi Arabia woman used to dress as men to drive Harley Davidson
motorcycles. According to Dr. Coyle Arab woman used to dress as men to be able to be on their own
since it is customary for woman to be escorted by a man of her family at all times. Arab woman used
to dress as men so they couldn t be recognize as woman while riding and feeling free. Although, I
couldn t find any specific source about Arab woman riding Harley Davidsons motorcycles it did
brought up allot of questions. First of all, it brought up to my attention how Harley Davidson has been
a brand that impacted the global community. Especially, since I couldn t imagine an American product
being sold in the part of the world where is presume most countries hate Americas beliefs and
lifestyle. It was even harder to imagine Harley Davidson being sold in Saudi Arabia which represent
freedom, adventure, and individuality. Totally opposite to what I imagine the Arab culture beliefs
towards American products would stand for. During my research I discovered that Harley Davidson it

Sexual Selection In Charles Darwin s The Descent Of Man
Darwin s theory on sexual selection, conceptualized throughout the course of The Descent of Man,
examines how inherent factors shape the structures and mental capabilities of males and females
through nature and the influence of humanity s ancestors. Darwin purports that it is biology that
dictates human traits. According to Darwin, whose work was influenced by the Victorian period, the
hierarchy of the natural realm, in which mankind is placed at the summit, is further stratified between
the two sexes. As an underlying theme of his work, Darwin emphasizes his claim that, under the
rationale of sexual selection, [...] man has ultimately become superior to woman (Darwin 565). In

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the current inequality of men and women had become a
frequently debated and highly controversial issue. At the time, it was a widely thought notion that
women could not vote due to their innate, supposed, inferiority to men. This conceptual hierarchy was
supported by Darwin s observations that men and women were developmentally divergent, owing to
selection. Many, including Darwin, believed male traits to be factors owing to male superiority
(Darwin, 565). However feminists, including Gamble, interpreted his works quite differently. In
Chapter Five of her essay, The Evolution of Woman, Gamble agrees with some of Darwin s
assessment of gender based characteristics, specifically concluding that men and women are indeed
different in behavior. But Gamble s argument challenges that it is not the superior traits of the male
that inforce the hierarchy, but the enslavement and oppression of the female gender via male control

How Does Tobacco Advertising Affect Children
Children s Introduction to Tobacco Products
As a result of anti tobacco organizations, there have been laws enacted meant to prevent tobacco
favored media from being viewed or consumed by children in the United States. Much to the chagrin
of anti tobacco organizations, tobacco products continue to be widely consumed not only within the
United States, but also around the world, and tobacco companies continue to produce advertisements
appealing to younger generations. While companies such as Philip

The Cultural Body In The Cultural Body
How does Melati Suryodarmo explore the Cultural Body in her performance art work? Through this
essay I am going to explore the Cultural Body in the works and career of Melati Suryodarmo. In aid of
my research and exploration I will consider two of the most influential artists during her training and
two of her works: Rindu, her first solo performance in 1996, and Ballad of Treasures, performed in
2004. The Cultural Body in performance is the presentation of a person or country s culture through
the body. It could be shown through the interpretation or performance of an art form that means
something to the heritage of a country, civilisation or period in time. Melati takes inspiration for her
pieces from her experiences in the world and uses them to express her pain and struggle of being a
foreigner in Germany (Tsai, 2013) during her training, the beginning of her career and her life
following her move there with her husband. She attempts to push through everyday experiences and
present cultural and political encounters that would stimulate the discovery of new identification .
Melati produces a concentrated level of nervous intensity, a bodily experience that does not have any
narrative , which leads to a factual absurdity outcome in the performance that is welcome in
Suryodarmo s work (Pearl Lam Galleries, undated). Melati trained with Anzu Furukawa, an expert
Butoh dance professor, and Marina Abramović to gain her experience in performance art while she
lived in Germany during the 1990s. Following her training, Melati has gone on to present her works at
many international festivals and exhibitions around the globe; and since 2007 has organised an annual
performance art event, Undisclosed Territory, and a Performance Art Laboratory in Indonesia. Melati,
despite not originally choosing performance art as her career path, now finds that using un verbalised
communication opens the door to the different forms of perception and the mind s freedom to interpret
these inputs is a fascinating area of research which Melati is very fond of (Pearl Lam Galleries,
undated). Melati, an Indonesian born artist based in Germany, creates performances that have strong
cultural, social and political aspects, with many

Methods And ApproachesFor The Collection And... RESEARCH METHODOLOGY This chapter of the research intends to provide basic understanding of the adopted research design, methods and approaches for the collection and interpretation of data (Kumar Phrommathed, 2005). The methodology does not only offers the fundamentals of adopted research methods, but also intends to present the rationale for the selected research i.e. specific research methods and techniques. In addition, it provides a description of the research instruments through which the relevant information was collected and gathered in the research study. 3.1 Research Design The researcher decided to use primary data for the research study (Burns Bush, 2006). The use of primary data provided the researcher with first hand information regarding the topic of interest, which was then used to address the research questions. Considering the nature of the research study, the researcher used quantitative research design to develop, predict, and address the research questions (Polkinghorne, 2005). 3.2 Research Philosophy In light of the literature, research philosophy is defined as the process of collecting and analysing collected data in standardised and unique manner (Crossan, 2003). The most commonly used research philosophies include; realism, positivism, and interpretivism. On the basis of the research objectives and design, the most appropriate research philosophy was positivism. According to positivist philosophy, the researcher remains disconnected from the ... Which options cost more and which options will result in higher gains are two of the financial factors that affect decisions. In the University of Phoenix (n.d.) scenario, Guillermo s Furniture Store has several options to consider which can help bring the revenues back to the company. The following concepts are only a few of the many financial concepts that are important when making business decisions. Guillermo s furniture store provides many ways to look at these concepts. An important financial concept, that can be applied in almost any situation, financial or not, is the concept of the opportunity cost, or the difference between the value of one action and the value of the best alternative, (Emery, Finnerty, Stowe, 2007, p. 20). Options are very valuable and Guillermo had both the call option, the right to buy another company, and the put option, the right to sell his company (Emery, Finnerty, Stowe, 2007). Guillermo s opportunity cost would be the cost of not choosing one option, to buy or sell, over the other. Another cost concept that can be applied involve sunk costs, costs that have already been incurred and subsequent decisions cannot change them (Emery, Finnerty, Stowe, 2007). A sunk cost for Guillermo would be the materials used in his special stain that he had already purchased before he chose the broker option where his special stain was no longer needed. The zero sum game concept is when a transaction occurs where one party gains at the expense of the other (Emery, Finnerty, Stowe, 2007). In this scenario, if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Statue OfAthena Parthenos It was dedicated to the city s deity Athena. The temple was made to give a statue made in Athena s honor a home. When Athena led the Greek forces during the Persian wars, the people of Athens thought the world needed to see her success through a statue. Pheidias began sculpting the statue in 447 BCE. The statue would remain the city s symbol for thousands of years until it completely disappeared from the historical record during the Late Antiquity period. Some sculpture details and descriptions of the statue allowed the piece to be accurately reconstructed. The Parthenon was built to protect the Statue of Athena Parthenos. It was built in Athens, Greece on the hill of the Acropolis . With the supervision of Phidias, Ictinus and Callicrates designed the temple. The foundation of the temple was made out of limestone and the columns were made out of pentelic marble. The Parthenon construction cost the Athenian treasury 469 silver talents. 1 It is unknown how much money that is, but we do know that 1 talent was enough to pay a crew on a warship for a month.1 Temples in ancient Greece were built to only be viewed from the outside. The Parthenon was designed to create a smooth transition from the inside to the outside. At the entrance to the Parthenon, if a viewer s gaze went upward, the viewer would see the birth of Athena. As the viewer s gaze beings to shift downward, they would see the arrephores folding the peplos among the Olympian gods. Below this, the viewer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Objectivity In AutophenonmenologyAnd Heterophenomenology. Objectivity in Autophenonmenology and Heterophenomenology In the journal How to Study Human Consciousness Empirically, Daniel Dennett claims that people are often just wrong about what they are doing and how they are doing it. Rather than having an objective and complete understanding of our own intentions and processes, we tend to use assumptions as knowledge, alter facts to align with our beliefs, and theorize about causes and effects. As a result, studies of traditional phenomenology (referred to in this situation as autophenomenology) are often clouded by personal biases and misinterpretations. The evidence of this confabulation is very similar to a curious child it reveals itself through one repeated question: why? For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This intrinsic subjectivity is important to keep in mind when studying consciousness from a heterophenomenological perspective. The only true basis we have to determine the individual experience of another person is what they communicate to us. If this communication is inherently jumbled with misunderstandings and theories of one s qualia, the data on which heterophenomenology is based is flawed and, consequently, so is heterophenomenology itself. Rather than providing a scientific third person view of consciousness, it creates more of a collective fictional narrative that describes the average experiences of others. In analogous terms, heterophenomenology aims to create a textbook, but can only produce a pop culture magazine. This view may be debated by analyzing the validity of personal experience. The fact that an individual s view of their own internal processes is flawed could be seen as irrelevant; in the end, what truly matters to the study of consciousness is what one is experiencing. If what one believes differs from the truth, does this incongruity not reveal key factors of consciousness? Furthermore, these subjective claims can be cross referenced with scientific facts to neutralize human error. This can be seen in one of the examples above, in which an individual claims that they went to a restaurant because they were hungry because they had not eaten in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of GenderBias In Julius Caesar In sexism, gender bias has existed throughout history and still exists today. Gender bias is frequently called sexism or gender discrimination. A study by four researchers, Kelly Jones, Cay Evans, Ronald Byrd, and Kathleen Campbell, analyzed videotapes of teachers while they taught the students in the classroom, then they had the teachers watch themselves on the video while pointing out the gender biased attitudes, languages and behavior; most teachers were surprised to see how they gave their attention on one gender over the other and the unintentional gender bias happening in the classroom (A World of Gender Bias, 2015). Sexism puts a barrier on what society views as acceptable for a man and woman to do. It also may be true that men and women are not necessarily equal physically. Men are scientifically proven are stronger than women physically in terms of muscles and athletic ability. Men are physically stronger than women, who have, on the average, less total muscle mass, to the total body mass and men also have denser, stronger bones, tendons and ligaments (Burton, 2012). Men tend to be larger than women in size which makes them tend to carry out more muscles and more muscles normally points toward having more strength than women. But on the other hand, people should approach fairness and not equality because sexism has negative impacts on the people which causes them to commit suicide. Second Wave FeminismIn The 1960s And 1970s Second wave feminism in the 1960s and 1970s, in conjunction with other social movements, built a foundation for much of the activist and intellectual work that followed. However, there was an assumption of whiteness in the second wave feminist movement as well as a prominence of heteronormativity, which blinded most of the populace to activist work done by women of color and lesbians. For example, there was a whole strata of work in lesbian and gay scholarship which date from the early 1970s which came out of the gay liberation movement. Space Shuttle Experiment TheSpace Shuttle was an interesting exhibit with many fascinating attractions. There were a lot of connections between how the spaceship works and our class, electricity and magnetism. One of the main connections between these two were the tires on the space shuttle. The spaceship only used one set of tires per trip because it needed to have a lot of traction in order to stop the ship in time which means that they can not be reused. Throughout the trip however, the tires go through a lot of change. Once they escape the Earth s atmosphere, they lose a lot of pressure. The air inside the tires could go through a phase change that would cause energy be created which in return energy is calculated by Q=mLf. The next piece that helped me gain insight into how the physics of our class is used in the space program was a sample of the control room in NASA s headquarters. I saw how they use infrared displays to check the spaceship s surroundings. The infrared displays use multiple concepts from our class, including infrared spectrums and frequency. His eldest sister will be done with her degree in modern dance this semester. Looking at myself, I am not that far along. I attempted to navigate around college because it was seen as too expensive. The mountain of debt for going to a private Christian college is to grate to pay off. Most people are not made out of money. The money may not be the case because an alternative does exist, it just is not as glorious. A person can obtain an associate s degree at a community college for considerably less. Which is the choice I have made. I remember watching part of my brothers Dave Ramsey financial piece university video. It stated that most high school teens have the expectation of making mountains of cash. Most expected after college, they would make around one hundred thousand dollars or more. African American Studies VictoriaBraden Jasmine Sullivan AAAS 2000 23 April 14 1.) In chapter 1, Black women slaves were defined as either a jezebel or mammy . In detail define the characteristics of a jezebel and mammy . Why were black women defined in these two extreme ways? By contrast, how were Southern white women characterized? * One of the most standout images of black women in white slavery America was of a woman who ran entirely off of her sex drive, a Jezebel. A jezebel was considered to be the complete opposite of a proper white woman. She was thought to have little to none religious affiliation. A jezebel took no instances to cover her body, and showed no signs of prudery. The idea that black women were over sexualized first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of her expertise in all domestic matters, she was the premier house servant and all others were her subordinates. This, therefore, is the broad outline of Mammy. She was a woman completely dedicated to the white family, especially to the children of that family. She was the house servant who was given complete charge of domestic management. She served also as friend and advisor. She was, in short, a surrogate mistress and mother, giving into the modern day nanny. The Mammy image is fully as misleading as that of Jezebel. Both images have enough instances in reality to lend credibility to stereotypes that would profoundly affect black women. For instance, Black women served in all capacities, from cook to waiting maid, or seamstress. In very wealthy Southern households there were many female servants. Children grew very attached to Mammy, as she was seen as their primary caregiver. Being a Mammy was idyllic for a slave women, for they were given better care and the work wasn t as tasking. Hard as cleaning, cooking, sewing, dairy work, and child care were, they were not as physically taxing as a sun up to sun down day in the cropbe it sugar, rice, or cotton. On the whole, house women could expect to eat better, dress better, and get better medical care than field women, if only because they were more familiar to the master and mistress, not to mention nearer to the kitchen and potential handmedowns. Hydrologic Cycle OfThe Hydrological Cycle In this assignment, I shall be examining the hydrological cycle and I shall be answering the following questions provided in the D2L. I will be showing my understanding/knowledge, thinking and communication. Define: ¬ Condensation: The process where water vapor or in other words (gas) transitions into water droplets (a liquid). This is when we begin to see clouds form. ¬ Evaporation: The change of the state from water to water vapor, an estimated average 47 inches is evaporated into the atmosphere from the ocean each year. ¬ Sublimation: It is the process where ice and snow change into water vapor. They are able to do that without moving through the liquid phase ¬ Evamp transpiration: The cumulative loss by evaporation and transpiration. To begin with, the hydrologic cycle doesn t have an area where the sequences commence. Therefore, it will begin in the ocean since that s where the most of the earth s water exists. The energy from the sun heats the ocean water, causing it to evaporate. Condensation, the water vaporizes into water vapor. Subsequently, the vapor ascends into the atmosphere condensation is crucial to the hydrologic cycle because it is in charge of forming the clouds. Sublimation is the process where ice directly converts into water vapor without converting into liquid. Furthermore, it has a slower process than evaporation. Precipitation, clouds begin to form and it begins to precipitate due to either wind or temperature change. Transpiration, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the causes of world war one are imperialism, militarism, nationalism, and alliances. Imperialism is when one country rules over another through establishment of colonies. Imperialism resulted from Industrialization, which was needed for raw goods and markets for manufactured goods. The countries fought with each other over colonies. Militarism was used for building a strong military and in order for that country to have its interests dominate the government. In the past, war was seen as something that was acceptable to solve conflicts and enhance a country. Some examples of imperialism include: naval arms race between Great Britain and Germany. Nationalism is a strong feeling of loyalty and protection of culture and need of ethnic group to have a country that is their own. Alliances are countries that form cooperative groups in order to protect everyone s interests. However, the most significant cause of world war one was industrialization, which had fueled imperialism, and Nationalism. Together they both caused three factors that led to war: German unification, territorial rivalries, and economic competition. The Great powers were prepared to participate in the war because in the 15th century, some European nations were expanding their territory forcefully. INTRODUCTION In my paper I decided to write about Harley Davidson Motorcycles influence in Saudi Arabia and the Arab nations in general. I selected this topic in regards to a comment that my professor, Dr. Thomas Coyle, for MTML 4330 mention during one of his lectures. During Dr. Coyle lecture he mention that Saudi Arabia woman used to dress as men to drive Harley Davidson motorcycles. According to Dr. Coyle Arab woman used to dress as men to be able to be on their own since it is customary for woman to be escorted by a man of her family at all times. Arab woman used to dress as men so they couldn t be recognize as woman while riding and feeling free. Although, I couldn t find any specific source about Arab woman riding Harley Davidsons motorcycles it did brought up allot of questions. First of all, it brought up to my attention how Harley Davidson has been a brand that impacted the global community. Especially, since I couldn t imagine an American product being sold in the part of the world where is presume most countries hate Americas beliefs and lifestyle. It was even harder to imagine Harley Davidson being sold in Saudi Arabia which represent freedom, adventure, and individuality. Totally opposite to what I imagine the Arab culture beliefs towards American products would stand for. During my research I discovered that Harley Davidson it s a very popular commodity in the Arab nation and the world not only the United States. I honestly imagine that Harley Davidson was ... Sexual Selection InCharles Darwin s The Descent Of Man Darwin s theory on sexual selection, conceptualized throughout the course of The Descent of Man, examines how inherent factors shape the structures and mental capabilities of males and females through nature and the influence of humanity s ancestors. Darwin purports that it is biology that dictates human traits. According to Darwin, whose work was influenced by the Victorian period, the hierarchy of the natural realm, in which mankind is placed at the summit, is further stratified between the two sexes. As an underlying theme of his work, Darwin emphasizes his claim that, under the rationale of sexual selection, [...] man has ultimately become superior to woman (Darwin 565). In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the current inequality of men and women had become a frequently debated and highly controversial issue. At the time, it was a widely thought notion that women could not vote due to their innate, supposed, inferiority to men. This conceptual hierarchy was supported by Darwin s observations that men and women were developmentally divergent, owing to selection. Many, including Darwin, believed male traits to be factors owing to male superiority (Darwin, 565). However feminists, including Gamble, interpreted his works quite differently. In Chapter Five of her essay, The Evolution of Woman, Gamble agrees with some of Darwin s assessment of gender based characteristics, specifically concluding that men and women are indeed different in behavior. But Gamble s argument challenges that it is not the superior traits of the male that inforce the hierarchy, but the enslavement and oppression of the female gender via male control (Gamble ... The Cultural BodyIn The Cultural Body How does Melati Suryodarmo explore the Cultural Body in her performance art work? Through this essay I am going to explore the Cultural Body in the works and career of Melati Suryodarmo. In aid of my research and exploration I will consider two of the most influential artists during her training and two of her works: Rindu, her first solo performance in 1996, and Ballad of Treasures, performed in 2004. The Cultural Body in performance is the presentation of a person or country s culture through the body. It could be shown through the interpretation or performance of an art form that means something to the heritage of a country, civilisation or period in time. Melati takes inspiration for her pieces from her experiences in the world and uses them to express her pain and struggle of being a foreigner in Germany (Tsai, 2013) during her training, the beginning of her career and her life following her move there with her husband. She attempts to push through everyday experiences and present cultural and political encounters that would stimulate the discovery of new identification . Melati produces a concentrated level of nervous intensity, a bodily experience that does not have any narrative , which leads to a factual absurdity outcome in the performance that is welcome in Suryodarmo s work (Pearl Lam Galleries, undated). Melati trained with Anzu Furukawa, an expert Butoh dance professor, and Marina Abramović to gain her experience in performance art while she lived in Germany during the 1990s. Following her training, Melati has gone on to present her works at many international festivals and exhibitions around the globe; and since 2007 has organised an annual performance art event, Undisclosed Territory, and a Performance Art Laboratory in Indonesia. Melati, despite not originally choosing performance art as her career path, now finds that using un verbalised communication opens the door to the different forms of perception and the mind s freedom to interpret these inputs is a fascinating area of research which Melati is very fond of (Pearl Lam Galleries, undated). Melati, an Indonesian born artist based in Germany, creates performances that have strong cultural, social and political aspects, with many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
