Native Americans vs Europeans
In the time of the American Revolutionary War, there were many differences that influenced how
our country turned out today. Most of the cultural differences occurred between the Native
Americans and the Europeans that had newly settled in what is known today as America. Some of
the most notable differences were those of religion, political, economic, and social. These
differences divided the habitants of America in several ways and formed many bonds but also
brought them to many moments of conflict. When the Europeans landed in America, they sought
religious freedom and often tried to convert the Native Americans. The Native Americans as a
whole could not grasp the concept of worshiping only one god . Native Americans believed... Show

For example, the Powhatan tribe had traded its corn with the Virginia colony to show that they
were the more powerful force but this led to the First Anglo American War (1610 1614). When
trading with the Europeans, the Native Americans often contracted many foreign diseases; for
example: smallpox, typhoid, and dysentery. These diseases were often to blame for the Native
American s losses during the early settlement of the Americas by the Europeans. The more
people that the Native Americans lost, the weaker the tribe became and the easier it was for the
Europeans to take over their land. When Henry Hudson sailed up the Hudson River, he claimed
land from the Mohawk tribe. This was in exchange for fur, which established the Fur Trade.
Producing only what the tribe needed allowed the tribes to be self sufficient. The Europeans
mass produced everything because they were focused on exportation. The Europeans would
focus on one single product to produce to export but then found the need to trade with others to
obtain what they needed to survive. An example is the production of tobacco. The tobacco
planters had need for more land. They slowly took over some of the Native American land. The
Native Americans got really upset and killed five hundred of one colony s people. Some
Europeans jumped the gun and decided to kill the wrong tribe of Native Americans and that used to
be friendly tribe retaliated. All this

Voluntary And Compulsory Voting Systems
Voluntary and Compulsory Voting Systems: The Affect on Democracy
Across the globe day after day, nations have been progressively attempting to improve the political
systems in which they inhabit, the most prominent political system currently standing as
democracy. But what exactly constitutes as democracy? Democracy is a term holding a spectrum of
meanings, many frequently overlapping. In its simplest, most basic form, democracy is referred
to rule of the people. Being the broad term it is, democracy tends to be represented in various ways
around the world. Despite these differences in representation, the endgame is all the same, a rule in
the interest of the people. Using specific countries as models, I strategize to discuss the differences
between compulsory voting in Australia and voluntary voting in Canada to determine whether
compulsory voting augments the quality of democracy. In this essay, I argue compulsory voting
enhances the quality of democracy. Through the lens of different voting systems, I plan to defend
my claim by discussing the effect that voter turnout, civic duty and accurate representation has on
the quality of democracy. While voting is only one of the countless elements involved in politics, it
continues to be the very foundation of our democracy, affecting every aspect of our lives. Whether
compulsory or voluntary, voting exists as a link between ourselves and those who have the
authority to implement our interests. The ability to vote is a

Compare And Contrast The Gulf Of Tonkin
In August 1964, two US destroyed that were positioned in the Gulf of Tonkin in Vietnam claimed
that they had been attacked by North Vietnamese forces. President Lyndon B. Johnson demanded
authorization from the United States Congress to augment US military presence in Vietnam. As a
result, congress ended up passing the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution which authorized President
Jonson to act any way to retaliate against the Vietnamese. Later on, many would question if either
attacks had taken place. Key leaders included Barry Goldwater, William Westmoreland who was
the US general who advocated aggressive strategies against Viet Cong and NVA using large
numbers of US forces. Lastly, another key leader was Ho Chi Minh who was a North Vietnamese

Staples And Office Depot Inc.
Staples and Office Depot Inc. are both office supply chains. Today both companies are doing
great considering where they came from and their competitive market. It is safe to say Staples
has more than 2000 stores while Office Depot has above 1600 stores throughout the world.
According to the case they were both originated in 1986 and while being founded early on over
the next decade they and additional office supply chains have contended belligerently in order to
provide a suitable, unfailing and inexpensive supply of office materials to smaller industries or
businesses along with other persons who have home offices. Staples and Office Depot have been
extremely victorious in the field of office supplies. They have kicked out hundreds and thousands
of individual privately owned businesses out of selling and abolished even few competitors in the
office supply market by getting hold of their business or economic failure of their business. By
1996 they had only one existing contestant which even till today I remember and that is OfficeMax.
Office Depot has been very insistent, in addition, Staples and OfficeMax are to participate more
assertively as well. The office supply prices for staples are the cheapest in the cities that all three of
the nationwide office supply chains staples, office depot, and office max compete. Prices reach
higher in the markets that only the additional competitor is OfficeMax. Office Depot incriminates
drastically with increased prices that comes

John Orr Arsonist
I believe that John Orr does fit the profile of an arsonist in many ways, and not in other ways.
John Orr was a blue collar arson investigator, he also attended investigator conventions and
investigated one of his own fires; he kept the mask of sanity for quite some time. Orr burned
retail stores, specifically in sections where there was foam, he seemed comfortable with this type
of location and comfortable with the everyday items he used to start the fires; cigarettes, matches,
yellow paper, and rubber bands. John Orr wrote a manifest about how he would get sexually
excited at fires, becoming erected and even masturbating to the flames as they surrounded him.
Many arsonists keep mementos of their fires, Orr videoed before and after shots

Buprenorphine Research Paper
Buprenorphine is a semisynthetic opioid derivative of thebaine (1). It is a partial opioid agonist
(has both agonist and antagonist properties (2, 3)) that is used as a narcotic analgesic.
After 10 years of study and research, buprenorphine was successfully synthesized in 1969 by
researchers at Reckitt Benckiser. Its first name was RX6029 and was successful in reducing
dependence on animal trials for research (later named buprenorphine and began trials on humans in
1971). It was legalized in the United Kingdom as a painkiller in 1978 and was approved by the
FDA for use in opioid addiction treatment, which remains to be its most common use in clinical
practice till this day. (4)

Running Record Analysis
A Running Record is a tool that provides a way to assess an individual student s reading,
determine appropriate levels of text for reading, and to inform teaching. Taken at intervals, these
records can show growth over time in reading skills. This assessment tool can be done quickly and
frequently. It is individually conducted and informs the teacher on what strategies a student uses to
make meaning of individual words and text as a whole. While the student is readingthe teacher

The Character Analysis Of The Film Smoke Signals
It s a good day to be indigenous! (00:04:55 00:04:56) says Randy Peone, the voice of the KREZ
radio, setting the mood for the whole film, Smoke Signals. Smoke Signals is about Native
Americans, specifically Thomas Builds The Fire, played by Evan Adams, and Victor Joseph,
played by Adam Beach, that live on the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. The story follows
these two proud to be Indian boys all the way through their adulthood. The audience gets to see
their relationship develop from distant friends to a brother like bond. This film is a Native
American masterpiece; however, I believe that the true magic lies in the work of Evan Adams.
As soon as Thomas enters on screen, the audience falls in love. He wears two side braids, nice
suits, and a huge smile plastered across his face. At the beginning of the film, he is a happy and
curious kid that is everything but refreshing to his friend Victor. They both have known each
other their entire lives. One thing that is truly captivating about Evan s performance is his
ability to truly encapsulate his character. While watching the film, one can really see the
emotion and feeling in his eyes and in his voice. In part in particular, he says, So then he [Arnold,
Victor s father] took me to Denny s. It was afternoon ya know and I still had the Grand Slam

The Problem of Badger Control in Great Britain Essay
Introduction
Since 1973, controlling badgers in Great Britain has been a political problem. Badgers are one of
the most well known animals in Britain; hence the Protection of Badgers Act 1992 was designed to
protect them (Natural England). However, tuberculosis was discovered in badgers as a result of
Mycobacterium bovis (Muirhead et al., 1974). Till this day, some argue that badgers are a
significant source of infection for cattle, which raises a concern for the society (Krebs, 1997).
Therefore, it raises the issue of whether trials to test the efficacy of badger culling in control of
bovine tuberculosis should be permitted.
Review
Mycobacterium bovis not only causes bovine tuberculosis in badgers but also infects cattle and deer.

The culling of badgers disrupts the structure of their social group, which leads to a widespread
of tuberculosis as they move further away to establish new groups (Briggs, 2012). As a result,
there is an increase in incidence outside areas where badgers were not culled. Consequently,
people are relying on vaccinations and even the government in Devon is providing funds to
farmers who are in areas of high risk (Jones, 2013). The vaccination project in Gloucestershire has
been very successful and in one year it has already immunised 998 badgers. Additionally, improving
biosecurity could decrease transmission by preventing badgers from entering farms and coming
into contact with cattle (Briggs, 2012).
Discussion
Even though vaccinations are expensive and require a lot of effort, rather than immunising badgers,
cattle would relatively cost less and still be successful in controlling bovine tuberculosis (Jones,
2013). However, at the moment the legislation of the European Union bans the vaccination of cattle
because checking for infection in the animals would become challenging (Department for
Environment Food and Rural Affairs). Farmers need a solution to the problem immediately and
they cannot wait for ten years to abolish the ban as incidents in cattle herds are rising increasingly
over the past few years (Briggs, 2012). Thus, culling badgers is the most effective method at present
when considering

Ex Conscientious Objectors In Ww1
Bread was not rationed, but by law had to be sold by weight and not by the loaf. Even so, the
government took steps to decrease its consumption further by banning the sale of bread until
twelve hours after it had been baked. The government decided that fresh bread was very difficult to
cut thinly so, if everyone cut their loaves in thick slices, they would consume more. Additionally,
the more appetising taste of fresh baked breadcould encourage people to eat it immoderately. Plans
were put in place to substitute the established white loaf with a national loaf made from
wholemeal grain. It is a loaf we are familiar with today but in 1918 many thought the taste and
colour unappetising, and some blamed it for a variety of digestive problems.... Show more content

At the outbreak of war I looked upon taking life as a horrible and wicked thing something I, with
my religious training, could never do, and had genuine conscientious objections to becoming a
soldier for that reason, but as the weeks went by and instance after instance of Hun brutality the
fruits of militarism became common knowledge I had often to take myself to task. Before
Xmas, 1914, the truth dawned on me I had been selfish ignoring the fact that thousands of fine,
brave fellows had already given their lives good Christian men most of them and presumed to
put my conscientious objections before my country s need and the cause of God. The Germans

Covert And Hidden Like A Country Is Ruled By A Long Time
Anyone that considers themselves a student of history understands that the world has always
been ruled by a few powerful people. Sometimes it is very overt and in our face, like when a
country is ruled by a dynasty of kings, queens, emperors or pharaohs coming from the same
bloodline. Sometimes it is very covert and hidden like it is today with a variety of oligarchies
running the show from behind the scene. But the constant theme has been that very few people
have ruled this planet for a very long time.
However, just because this small group of people has ruled over a much bigger populace does not
mean they have the true power in the situation. Since they are vastly outnumbered they need the
people they rule over to go along with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, most of us are against invading a county without being provoked. The problem is the
ruling class are not wired like us. They seem to have an unquenchable thirst for power and
control over the rest of us. So, to them, war is beneficial for many reasons no matter who
provokes it. Many will say the biggest reason is that war makes people a lot of money. While
this is true, money is now being created out of thin are by the ruling class. Making money not
relevant in anything they do. War does do two major things for them, however. Since we vastly
outnumber them war is a great way for them to cull the population to levels more easily
manageable. It is also a great why for them to steal resources. The last important reason they start
wars is to dethrone a sitting leader that has been a puppet to them but is now not playing by their
rules. This can be seen in the Middle East when leader have tried refusing or bypassing the petro
dollar.
Now that I established why the ruling class needs the common folk to go along with constant wars,
let s look at what exactly a False Flag is and how it gets us into wars.
A False Flag is best described as an attack on a country by its government that is then blamed on
someone else to justify going to war or to push a political agenda that usually consist of them
gaining power and us common folk losing it (all in the name of protecting us of course). When a

A Report Of The Bezymianny Volcano During The Kamchatka...
Abstract
Zoning in plagioclase feldspar is often an indicator of magmatic differentiation. This is mainly due
to the process of fractional crystallization changing the chemistry of magmatic bodies, and has been
documented in many localities. A case study will examine a 2010 report of the Bezymianny
Volcano in the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia, where researchers studied oscillatory zoning in the
plagioclase. An interpretation of the results has shown frequent replenishments to the magma
chamber, and many magmatic differentiation processes including magma mixing, addition of
volatiles, and reheating and convection the melt body (Shcherbakov et al., 2010).
Introduction
Zoning occurs in plagioclase feldspars as they crystallize out of a melt, as composition of the
magma changes. These changes occur due to the formation of minerals consuming certain elements
present in the magma (Gill, 2010). Plagioclase is an excellent indicator for this progressive
depletion of elements, as it forms a continuous series of anorthite (calcium rich, CaAl2Si2O8) to
albite (sodium rich, NaAlSi3O8) (Nesse, 2011). Because of the differences in composition, the
feldspar chemistry can be used to interpret the magmatic processes which led to the production of
these feldspars. The zoning pattern reflects the chemical changes, which have occurred to the
magma body and can show magmatic differentiation processes such as magma mixing and changes
in temperature, pressure and water content (Churikova

The Destruction Of Offred In The Handmaid s Tale
After failing to change Iliad s misguided ways, Offred is taken away from her home by strange
men, but she is not frantic nor worried. After losing all that she holds dear, she sees no purpose
and has grown accustomed to the present state of cruelty and mistreatment. [She is] orderly and
calm, and Atwood makes it clear that this is her biggest fear (287). Transitioning from a fighter of
progress working against the system to one adjusted and relented to rampant injustice, Offred
embodies the theme of Atwood s messaging. Quietly accepting her fate, she has little drive within
motivating her further to tackle her suppressors and resist. She simply [steps] up into the van taking

In Iliad, women abandon their identity, freedom, sanity, and hope to conform, but eventually,
they end up giving up much more than they bargain for: themselves. Offred is only a whim
(159) in the eyes of this society and she too comes to believe it herself. To her commander who
controls her entire life, she is merely a toy or tool. To her superiors, she is just a method for
repopulation. To her friends, she is only a source of companionship. To Atwood, she is a sign that
silence and acceptance should be feared. Because [she has] been emptied (282) by society and those
around her, Atwood clarifies these hazards of ignorance, which are additionally expanded upon
through Offred s transformation. It may seem inconsequential at first, but one may become so
deeply entangled in this new world, such as Iliad, that the line between truth and fiction, good and
evil is blurred. An enemy is difficult to fight when one cannot see nor comprehend it, and
Atwood s characterizes Offred as a girl condemned to her reality because she is unable to see her
foe. More than that, she is alone or feels like she is. When detailing her story, Offred [feels] as if
[she is] talking to a wall and she has no one to confide in with. She [feels] so alone (195). In

Kevin Jonson Winning Balance Quotes
When a defining moment comes along, you define the moment, or the moment defines you.
Kevin C. This quote from Winning Balance by Shawn Jonson has had a great impact on my life
along with Shawn Jonson, an Olympic silver medalist in gymnastics. The book is about a
teenage gymnast who went to the Olympics and some of her struggles along the way. Being a
gymnast myself, I can also relate to some of these struggles and although I haven t been to the

inspired me to try hard in everything that I do and has also taught me with hard work comes
great success. Whether its school, sports, or anything else important, trying hard and giving your
best in all that you do is very important. Shawn Jonson would have never made it to the Olympics

overnight. Shawn Jonson and her novel helped me see that. Shawn went to the gym almost

as well as any sport. When Shawn injured herself, she conditioned and still worked hard to

stitches. When I was recovering, I tried to be like Shawn in the book and I worked hard to build up
my strength for when I came back. Although giving it all every day is hard, I try to when I can.

Racist Material At Their Age
With criminal records, blacks have a five percent chance of getting accepted into a job, but
whites have a seventeen percent chance of getting accepted into the same job. Blacks and other
races are being discriminated in school by their own peers and by teachers and principals. Even in
their work environment blacks are being treated unfairly. Law enforcement is also treating blacks
like every single one of them is a thug.
Blacks are being discriminated throughout the country by their peers in school and by their
teachers and principals. A black fifth grader came home one day and told his parents he was
being called a nigger. He was the only black child in his class and it started when the class started
reading a book which contained the word nigger. A fifth grade class reading a book that contains
such words can cause them to become racist in the future. Reading a book that has racist material
at their age can make them develop a racist attitude towards blacks and other races. This bad
attitude towards black children can destroy their self esteem and prides, making them feel that
their life has no value and that they re less than everybody else. Children learning slang terms like
nigger and bad representations of black people can change their view towards blacks for the rest
of their lives and it can even make them feel hostile towards blacks, an incident of this occurred at
the University of Mississippi. Three college students at the University of Mississippi hung a

A Comparison of Women in Beowulf, Widsith and Icelandic...

The roles of the women in Beowulf, Widsith, The Saga of The Volsungs, and the Saga of King

The Song Ten Minutes Ago, Is From Rodgers And Hammerstein...
The song Ten Minutes Ago is from Rodgers and Hammerstein s Cinderella. A musical adaption
of the classic fairytale by the same name, it became a musical sensation when Richard Rodgers
and Oscar Hammerstein transformed it into a live musical television broadcast in 1957. Starring
Julie Andrews, it retold the fairytale of a young girl living a miserable life under the roof of her
evil stepmother and her three equally vicious stepsisters. With the Prince s Ball nearing, the four
women in her family were planning to go, leaving Cinderella at home on the night of the ball.
When all hope seemed lost, Cinderella s Fairy Godmother appears, granting her wishes by
transforming her from rags to riches, and giving her a pair of glass slippers. Cinderella was able
to go to the ball unrecognized, under the condition to be home by midnight, when the spell wore

Morality, Moral, And Morality
Introduction As part of leadership, morality has been seen as a fundamental part. Among the
leadership traits, morality is has been defined as a very significant reality in how the leaders would
interact. By extension, various definitions have been brought forward in the attempts to understand
morality. However, moral relativism has been defined as a theoretical approach under which what
is right and what is wrong is effectively studied, (Sergiovanni, 2013). Therefore, it is very difficult
to distinguish ethics from morality. Ethics and morality seem to augment each other in
emphasizing the guiding principles of life. Clearly, morality encompasses almost all aspects of
the human life starting from an individual level and extending to the societal level. In the same
light, there is no agreed definition of leadership. Gini (2011) in the article, Moral Leadership: An
Overview, asserts that leadership entails numerous points of view that seem to all be centered on
the fact that a leader will prioritize efforts so as to realize positive results for others. Thus,
leadership is a social process that involves positive influence between a leader and their followers
(Gini, 2011). The fact that leaders would have to be in touch with their followers; emphasizes
should be morality. Moral leadership entails a leader who is concerned with their principles
regarding rightness or wrongness of their human character (Sergiovanni, 2013). Moral leadership is
important since its

Thomas Hobbes And The Enlightenment
Can you imagine America with a monarchy? Can you imagine America with a king? All the
power possessed by a single individual. This means that there will be no voting on who should be
a leader, but the power goes from one to the other by inheritance. There will be a king fulfilling his
role as a supreme leader by surrounding himself with people who will help him govern. This is hard
to imagine, but Enlightenment thinkers expressed their opinions on different questions related to
this. The Enlightenment was an era from 1600 to 1800. It was a break from strictness of the
Catholic Church and a period of intelligence and business growth in Europe. It grew out of the
Renaissance, especially humanists. During this era, there were philosophers who were known as
Enlightenment thinkers. They thought about two questions. First, are people naturally good or
evil? Second, what type of governmentis best? Thomas Hobbes, an Englishman born in 1588, is one
of the Enlightenment thinkers. Hobbes wrote The Leviathan, published in 1651, observing the
violence and behavior of people near the end of the English Civil War. He believed that monarchy
is the best government. John Locke, another Enlightenment thinker, is an Englishman born in
1632. Locke wrote Two Treatises of Government, published in 11689,expressing his opinions on the
state of nature and types of government. He, on the other hand, believed that democracy is the best
government. While Thomas Hobbes believed that people are

expecting to have many opportunities and thus, leading a better life. However, little did she
know about the prevailing division of social class in the country, which determines the harsh
realities of life as a member of the lower class. And once she realizes that she is bound by her
social status to follow the unwritten rules determined by the upper class, she becomes
overwhelmed with the feeling of helplessness, a feeling which is not only felt by her, but also by
all lower class people. Throughout the story, the narrator portrays a sharp contrast between her life

The Theme Of Isolation In The Lamp At Noon And The Painted...
The two stories The Lamp At Noon by Sinclair Ross and The Painted Door by Sinclair Ross,
both deal with the theme isolation. This is significant because it reveals that in the two stories,
isolation had varied negative effects on each of the families. In the two stories, there is emotional
isolation that influences the characters in multiple different ways. In The Lamp At Noon Ellen is
driven insane by the loneliness she feels from the isolation which drives her to make the decision
to try to run away which results in the baby s death The child was quite cold. It had been her arms,

The story The Lamp At Noon is set in the 1930s while the Dust Bowl occurred. The Dust Bowl
was when in the Prairies the drought and winds were so intense that farmers could not grow
crops and the wind made the air hard to see through because of all the dust the dust was
thickening to an impenetrable fog (73). The setting provided physical isolation to Ellen, Paul,
and the baby. The story The Painted Door is set in the 1930s while a snowstorm occurred. The
snowstorm provides isolation from the outside for Ann considering she could not leave her
house during the storm She went to the window, and thawing a clear place in the frost with her

Cause And Effects Of The Congo Crisis
The DRC has experienced a long history of political and economic subjugation. The colonial rule
under Belgium was marked with extensive violence and extreme exploitation of resources. This
created a situation in which few Congolese had higher education or the necessary skills to run a
modern government or an effective economy. Furthermore, the Congo s traditional socioeconomic
structures were disrupted long before the end of the colonial era. After the country finally gained
independence, the state was unable to maintain political or economic stability. Independence In
1960, the Congo gained independence from Belgium under a nationalist government headed by
Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Kasa Vubu. Their dedication to Congolese nationalism was not
shared nationwide however, and shortly after the new government was formed, army garrisons in
Katanga and South Kasai rebelled. The resulting conflict, known as the Congo Crisis, would
become particularly notable for the heavy military intervention of the United Nations and Belgium,
as well as financial backing from the United States and the Soviet Union. The fear and confusion
surrounding the unrest soon resulted in the deposition of Lumumba during a military coup d etat by
Colonel Joseph Mobutu. After being imprisoned by Mobutu and Kasa Vubu, Lumumba was later
turned over to the rebel Katangan authorities and executed in 1961. By 1963, the Katangan
separatists had largely been defeated by UN troops. The government was reformed

The Genealogy of Jesus Christ
The New Testament includes four Gospels that encompass a variety of narrative accounts relating
to Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Matthew; is sequentially placed as the first book within the New
Testament. Furthermore, it is a canonical account of the life of Jesus, and is recognized as one of
the synoptic Gospels. These accounts are divided into twenty eight chapters that appear in the form
of a parable, proverb, law, or miracle story found within modern day poetry, letters, or literary tracts.
Moreover, each narrative account possesses influential and intellectual material that attracts readers
to examine it further. However, out of the four Gospels, Matthew s is the one that encompasses the

The content and tenor of the Gospel relates to Jewish ideals and values, which lead to the belief that
Matthew s audience had a large Jewish population. His designations of the person of Jesus are
designed to appeal to a Jewish audience. His main goal was to divert the Jews perception from
Jesus being a false Messiah but rather their long awaited Messiah. Also he tries to prove to them
that the Jewish prophecies had been fulfilled in Jesus; by refuting other Jewish leaders and their
different views and practices . Furthermore, great competition between Matthews audiences formed
because of Jesus, thus caused Matthew s plot to solely focus on conflict. This is because Matthew
is engaged in some sort of polemic against the Jewish authorities. This is exemplified through the
groups signified by the Pharisees, with Jesus speaking about the incompetence of the Pharisees,
their influence and their actions. It is evident that Matthew s audiences were confused because
Matthew brings forth a different point of view from what they are accustomed too, through his
attempt of proving to them that Jesus is the Messiah.
In order for one to understand the opposing viewpoints within this era, Matthew s readers need to
have a thorough understanding of what the Jews perceived the Messiah to be and the criterion the
Messiah had to fulfill. The term Messiah was derived from the Hebrew Mashiach, which means the
anointed one, and refers to the ancient practice of

Theme Of Sonnet XIV
John Donne s poem Sonnet XIV delves into the relationship with God and his enemy, Satan. The
form of the poem is a source of tension. When conflicting elements resist, one another tension is
produced. Therefore, Donne creates tension by abandoning the traditional Petrarchan Sonnet that
conforms to the speaker s love for a woman and he speaks about his love for God. Donne s
resolution to the conflict of an overcrowded relationship is in him telling God to take control, so
that he can be free from sin.
In John Donne s poem, Sonnet XIV, the poem s controlling meter is an Iambic Pentameter. The

The speaker is comparing himself to a seized town. Meaning in more blatant terms, a town in
captivity. The site town in this case is a symbol that the speaker has used to represent himself.
The symbol is a contribution to the unity of the story. The symbol helps to create a more vivid
picture of the way in which the speaker is in bondage and needs to be freed. The speaker
continues his train of thought by saying labor to admit you, but oh, to no end meaning he tries to
let the rightful owners in but his attempt was futile. Then he makes mention that he should be
protected by the statement Reason your viceroy in me, me should defend/ But is captiv d, and

or disloyal. All of the aforementioned have a congruous effect to the unity of the poem in entirety.

that God could intervene and free him from sin. However, the part of him that should have taken

Hamlet Dek Revenge In Hamlet
William Shakespeare hamlet is a poem illustrating a prince seeking revenge over his father tragic
death. Hamlet the prince is left clueless who killed his father until some night watcher gave him
some news about a ghost that looked like his dead father. Hamlet decides to go see the ghost for
himself and is shocked what the ghost has said to him. The murder of his father was no accident

Analyzing Themes Throughout Edgar Allen Poe s Short Stories

Themes Throughout Edgar Allen Poe s Stories Edgar Allen Poe exhibits many different themes
throughout his poems and short stories, most readers see his stories as consistently and exclusively
putting death at the fore front in themes but there are countless other themes that Poe puts in his
stories and poems. These themes include love, uncertainty, subconscious self, nature, human
imagination, hope and despair so one can see that Poe is not as death oriented as many people
think and say he is. The first theme I will be focusing on in this evaluation is death, Poe wrote
many if not most of his short stories and poems focusing on death for example in Eldorado the
main character can only fulfill his goals through dying, another example is The Raven where the
main character is increasingly focused on imminent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story Telltale Heart the narrator for nights on end ponders in detail of how he will kill the
old man who is living in his house while trying to explain how he has not lost his own sanity this
depiction of the human imagination ties directly into Poe s theme of death because he not only
thinks about how he will kill he old man but inevitably kills the old man and hides him under the
floor boards of his home. Nature, this theme is an underlying one and is not easily picked out of
his stories yet the connection can still be made, in the short story The City in the Sea the city that
had once prospered inevitably gets destroyed and sinks to hell, this gives the reader the idea that
Poe does not like urbanized life and prefers nature. To support this idea, you can also make the
connection that many of the Protagonists in Poe s stories and poems wander around in forests and
other natural areas to discover something about their selves and have an epiphany you could call it
like in the story

Problems Associated With Hepatitis C
Introduction:
Indigenous peoples in Canada (First Nations, Inuit and MГ©tis) are recognized as having a
significantly increased hepatitis C disease burden in comparison to non Indigenous Canadians
(Uhanova, Tate, Tataryn, Minuk, 2013). Due to over representation in many groups considered high
risk for hepatitis C transmission, such as those living in unstable housing or engaging in injection
drug use, Indigenous peoples living in urban settings are particularly affected (Miller et al., 2010).
Recent studies have shown that comprehensive research on the risk factors associated with hepatitis
C acquisition in urban Indigenous populations is lacking (Uhanova et al., 2013; Plitt et al., 2011).
Furthermore, available evidence suggests that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The digestive system is a group of organs that work together. It is responsible for taking whole
foods and turning them into energy and nutrients to allow the body to function, grow and repair
itself. Today, I will explain how the digestive systemperforms this unique process. I m having a
loaded tuna sandwich with lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayonnaise. The bread of my sandwich
is mostly carbohydrates. Carbs are the sugars, starches and fibers found in fruits, grains,
vegetables and milk products. Carbohydrates contain macronutrients that provide fuel for the
Central Nervous System and energy for working muscles. The tuna in my sandwich contains
mostly proteins and is also high in vitamin B12. Proteins are substances that have amino acids,
compounds, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sometimes sulfur and are found in many
foods. They are essential in the diet for growth and repair of tissue and can be obtained from
foods such as meat, fish, eggs, milk and legumes. The lettuce contains fiber, carbs, and vitamins
C and A. The tomato also has vitamin C. My cheese has protein, calcium, vitamin B12 and also
fats, or lipids. The mayonnaise is mostly lipids as well. Lipid is another word for fats . They are
stored in the body as energy reserves and are also important components of cell membranes. As I

Injustice Native American Injustice
Native Americans have been subjected to injustice since the beginning of the discovery of the
New World. Whether it s been through what is defined as genocide by some people, or being
pushed out westward by the government and having land stripped away. This maltreatment has
shaped the views of many people about Native American s rights. The topic of Native Americans
has interested me because there has been so much injustice committed against them, yet there have
been little to no attempts to amend them. I have never encountered a Native American and it made
me realize how scarce their race is at this point in time. This realization made me keen on
researching the discrimination Native Americans have been put through and what people have
been doing to stop it. Through my research, I found that there is quite a large controversy about
whether or not the mass killings of Native Americans were considered Genocide. Native Americans
are still being stripped of their holy lands, such as the Dakota Pipeline, ruining their beautiful
culture and history in the process. Native Americans have been subjected to mistreatment, however
there remains a large population of people that don t think about the inequality they are exposed to.
The injustice being committed needs to be read about in order to understand and improve the
conditions that Native American tribes live in. Upon the arrival of the Europeans, Native
Americans were subjected to mass murder, or as some people refer to it

Related Literature Of Blindness
Chapter 2: Review of Related Literature
Blindness may be perceived differently among individuals. It can be a blessing or a curse. It
may be physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate
to the loss or gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much
passion or excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016).
Blindness in a figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment.
Literarily, it can be seen in the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind
stupor (lacking awareness), blind prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste
test (tasting without looking), blind presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson,
2014). Blindness not only means the lack of vision but also the lack of intellectual perception. In
our everyday life it can cost a lot. It necessary then to use our sight, insight and/or foresight to be

A computer is one of the most brilliant inventions of mankind. Thanks to computer technology,
we were able to achieve storage and processing of huge amounts of data; we could rest our brains

  • 2. Native Americans vs Europeans In the time of the American Revolutionary War, there were many differences that influenced how our country turned out today. Most of the cultural differences occurred between the Native Americans and the Europeans that had newly settled in what is known today as America. Some of the most notable differences were those of religion, political, economic, and social. These differences divided the habitants of America in several ways and formed many bonds but also brought them to many moments of conflict. When the Europeans landed in America, they sought religious freedom and often tried to convert the Native Americans. The Native Americans as a whole could not grasp the concept of worshiping only one god . Native Americans believed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the Powhatan tribe had traded its corn with the Virginia colony to show that they were the more powerful force but this led to the First Anglo American War (1610 1614). When trading with the Europeans, the Native Americans often contracted many foreign diseases; for example: smallpox, typhoid, and dysentery. These diseases were often to blame for the Native American s losses during the early settlement of the Americas by the Europeans. The more people that the Native Americans lost, the weaker the tribe became and the easier it was for the Europeans to take over their land. When Henry Hudson sailed up the Hudson River, he claimed land from the Mohawk tribe. This was in exchange for fur, which established the Fur Trade. Producing only what the tribe needed allowed the tribes to be self sufficient. The Europeans mass produced everything because they were focused on exportation. The Europeans would focus on one single product to produce to export but then found the need to trade with others to obtain what they needed to survive. An example is the production of tobacco. The tobacco planters had need for more land. They slowly took over some of the Native American land. The Native Americans got really upset and killed five hundred of one colony s people. Some Europeans jumped the gun and decided to kill the wrong tribe of Native Americans and that used to be friendly tribe retaliated. All this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Voluntary And Compulsory Voting Systems Voluntary and Compulsory Voting Systems: The Affect on Democracy Across the globe day after day, nations have been progressively attempting to improve the political systems in which they inhabit, the most prominent political system currently standing as democracy. But what exactly constitutes as democracy? Democracy is a term holding a spectrum of meanings, many frequently overlapping. In its simplest, most basic form, democracy is referred to rule of the people. Being the broad term it is, democracy tends to be represented in various ways around the world. Despite these differences in representation, the endgame is all the same, a rule in the interest of the people. Using specific countries as models, I strategize to discuss the differences between compulsory voting in Australia and voluntary voting in Canada to determine whether compulsory voting augments the quality of democracy. In this essay, I argue compulsory voting enhances the quality of democracy. Through the lens of different voting systems, I plan to defend my claim by discussing the effect that voter turnout, civic duty and accurate representation has on the quality of democracy. While voting is only one of the countless elements involved in politics, it continues to be the very foundation of our democracy, affecting every aspect of our lives. Whether compulsory or voluntary, voting exists as a link between ourselves and those who have the authority to implement our interests. The ability to vote is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

President Lyndon B. Johnson demanded authorization from the United States Congress to augment US military presence in Vietnam. As a result, congress ended up passing the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution which authorized President Jonson to act any way to retaliate against the Vietnamese. Later on, many would question if either attacks had taken place. Key leaders included Barry Goldwater, William Westmoreland who was the US general who advocated aggressive strategies against Viet Cong and NVA using large numbers of US forces. • 5. Staples And Office Depot Inc. Staples and Office Depot Inc. are both office supply chains. Today both companies are doing great considering where they came from and their competitive market. It is safe to say Staples has more than 2000 stores while Office Depot has above 1600 stores throughout the world. According to the case they were both originated in 1986 and while being founded early on over the next decade they and additional office supply chains have contended belligerently in order to provide a suitable, unfailing and inexpensive supply of office materials to smaller industries or businesses along with other persons who have home offices. Staples and Office Depot have been extremely victorious in the field of office supplies. They have kicked out hundreds and thousands of individual privately owned businesses out of selling and abolished even few competitors in the office supply market by getting hold of their business or economic failure of their business. By 1996 they had only one existing contestant which even till today I remember and that is OfficeMax. Office Depot has been very insistent, in addition, Staples and OfficeMax are to participate more assertively as well. The office supply prices for staples are the cheapest in the cities that all three of the nationwide office supply chains staples, office depot, and office max compete. Prices reach higher in the markets that only the additional competitor is OfficeMax. Office Depot incriminates drastically with increased prices that comes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. John Orr Arsonist I believe that John Orr does fit the profile of an arsonist in many ways, and not in other ways. John Orr was a blue collar arson investigator, he also attended investigator conventions and investigated one of his own fires; he kept the mask of sanity for quite some time. Orr burned retail stores, specifically in sections where there was foam, he seemed comfortable with this type of location and comfortable with the everyday items he used to start the fires; cigarettes, matches, yellow paper, and rubber bands. John Orr wrote a manifest about how he would get sexually excited at fires, becoming erected and even masturbating to the flames as they surrounded him. Many arsonists keep mementos of their fires, Orr videoed before and after shots ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Andy read with volume and a lot of expressions, he has to go back to repeat words in the sentences on numerous occasions. Andy has trouble with specific words using them in the wrong forms such as the singular form or present tense. This puts his fluency level at a 10 and means he needs additional instruction in fluency. After reading I ask Andy to recall and tell me what this story is about. • 9. The Character Analysis Of The Film Smoke Signals It s a good day to be indigenous! (00:04:55 00:04:56) says Randy Peone, the voice of the KREZ radio, setting the mood for the whole film, Smoke Signals. Smoke Signals is about Native Americans, specifically Thomas Builds The Fire, played by Evan Adams, and Victor Joseph, played by Adam Beach, that live on the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. The story follows these two proud to be Indian boys all the way through their adulthood. The audience gets to see their relationship develop from distant friends to a brother like bond. This film is a Native American masterpiece; however, I believe that the true magic lies in the work of Evan Adams. As soon as Thomas enters on screen, the audience falls in love. He wears two side braids, nice suits, and a huge smile plastered across his face. At the beginning of the film, he is a happy and curious kid that is everything but refreshing to his friend Victor. They both have known each other their entire lives. One thing that is truly captivating about Evan s performance is his ability to truly encapsulate his character. While watching the film, one can really see the emotion and feeling in his eyes and in his voice. In part in particular, he says, So then he [Arnold, Victor s father] took me to Denny s. • 10. The Problem of Badger Control in Great Britain Essay Introduction Since 1973, controlling badgers in Great Britain has been a political problem. Badgers are one of the most well known animals in Britain; hence the Protection of Badgers Act 1992 was designed to protect them (Natural England). However, tuberculosis was discovered in badgers as a result of Mycobacterium bovis (Muirhead et al., 1974). Till this day, some argue that badgers are a significant source of infection for cattle, which raises a concern for the society (Krebs, 1997). Therefore, it raises the issue of whether trials to test the efficacy of badger culling in control of bovine tuberculosis should be permitted. Review Mycobacterium bovis not only causes bovine tuberculosis in badgers but also infects cattle and deer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The culling of badgers disrupts the structure of their social group, which leads to a widespread of tuberculosis as they move further away to establish new groups (Briggs, 2012). As a result, there is an increase in incidence outside areas where badgers were not culled. Consequently, people are relying on vaccinations and even the government in Devon is providing funds to farmers who are in areas of high risk (Jones, 2013). The vaccination project in Gloucestershire has been very successful and in one year it has already immunised 998 badgers. Additionally, improving biosecurity could decrease transmission by preventing badgers from entering farms and coming into contact with cattle (Briggs, 2012). Discussion Even though vaccinations are expensive and require a lot of effort, rather than immunising badgers, cattle would relatively cost less and still be successful in controlling bovine tuberculosis (Jones, 2013). However, at the moment the legislation of the European Union bans the vaccination of cattle because checking for infection in the animals would become challenging (Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs). Farmers need a solution to the problem immediately and they cannot wait for ten years to abolish the ban as incidents in cattle herds are rising increasingly over the past few years (Briggs, 2012). Thus, culling badgers is the most effective method at present when considering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even so, the government took steps to decrease its consumption further by banning the sale of bread until twelve hours after it had been baked. The government decided that fresh bread was very difficult to cut thinly so, if everyone cut their loaves in thick slices, they would consume more. Additionally, the more appetising taste of fresh baked breadcould encourage people to eat it immoderately. Plans were put in place to substitute the established white loaf with a national loaf made from wholemeal grain. It is a loaf we are familiar with today but in 1918 many thought the taste and colour unappetising, and some blamed it for a variety of digestive problems.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before Xmas, 1914, the truth dawned on me I had been selfish ignoring the fact that thousands of fine, brave fellows had already given their lives good Christian men most of them and presumed to put my conscientious objections before my country s need and the cause of God. Sometimes it is very covert and hidden like it is today with a variety of oligarchies running the show from behind the scene. But the constant theme has been that very few people have ruled this planet for a very long time. They seem to have an unquenchable thirst for power and control over the rest of us. So, to them, war is beneficial for many reasons no matter who provokes it. Many will say the biggest reason is that war makes people a lot of money. While this is true, money is now being created out of thin are by the ruling class. Making money not relevant in anything they do. War does do two major things for them, however. Since we vastly outnumber them war is a great way for them to cull the population to levels more easily manageable. It is also a great why for them to steal resources. The last important reason they start wars is to dethrone a sitting leader that has been a puppet to them but is now not playing by their rules. This can be seen in the Middle East when leader have tried refusing or bypassing the petro dollar. Now that I established why the ruling class needs the common folk to go along with constant wars, let s look at what exactly a False Flag is and how it gets us into wars. • 13. A Report Of The Bezymianny Volcano During The Kamchatka... Abstract Zoning in plagioclase feldspar is often an indicator of magmatic differentiation. This is mainly due to the process of fractional crystallization changing the chemistry of magmatic bodies, and has been documented in many localities. A case study will examine a 2010 report of the Bezymianny Volcano in the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia, where researchers studied oscillatory zoning in the plagioclase. An interpretation of the results has shown frequent replenishments to the magma chamber, and many magmatic differentiation processes including magma mixing, addition of volatiles, and reheating and convection the melt body (Shcherbakov et al., 2010). Introduction Zoning occurs in plagioclase feldspars as they crystallize out of a melt, as composition of the magma changes. These changes occur due to the formation of minerals consuming certain elements present in the magma (Gill, 2010). Plagioclase is an excellent indicator for this progressive depletion of elements, as it forms a continuous series of anorthite (calcium rich, CaAl2Si2O8) to albite (sodium rich, NaAlSi3O8) (Nesse, 2011). Because of the differences in composition, the feldspar chemistry can be used to interpret the magmatic processes which led to the production of these feldspars. The zoning pattern reflects the chemical changes, which have occurred to the magma body and can show magmatic differentiation processes such as magma mixing and changes in temperature, pressure and water content (Churikova ... • 23. Morality, Moral, And Morality Introduction As part of leadership, morality has been seen as a fundamental part. Among the leadership traits, morality is has been defined as a very significant reality in how the leaders would interact. By extension, various definitions have been brought forward in the attempts to understand morality. However, moral relativism has been defined as a theoretical approach under which what is right and what is wrong is effectively studied, (Sergiovanni, 2013). Therefore, it is very difficult to distinguish ethics from morality. Ethics and morality seem to augment each other in emphasizing the guiding principles of life. Clearly, morality encompasses almost all aspects of the human life starting from an individual level and extending to the societal level. In the same light, there is no agreed definition of leadership. Gini (2011) in the article, Moral Leadership: An Overview, asserts that leadership entails numerous points of view that seem to all be centered on the fact that a leader will prioritize efforts so as to realize positive results for others. Thus, leadership is a social process that involves positive influence between a leader and their followers (Gini, 2011). The fact that leaders would have to be in touch with their followers; emphasizes should be morality. Moral leadership entails a leader who is concerned with their principles regarding rightness or wrongness of their human character (Sergiovanni, 2013). Moral leadership is important since its ... This means that there will be no voting on who should be a leader, but the power goes from one to the other by inheritance. There will be a king fulfilling his role as a supreme leader by surrounding himself with people who will help him govern. This is hard to imagine, but Enlightenment thinkers expressed their opinions on different questions related to this. The Enlightenment was an era from 1600 to 1800. It was a break from strictness of the Catholic Church and a period of intelligence and business growth in Europe. It grew out of the Renaissance, especially humanists. During this era, there were philosophers who were known as Enlightenment thinkers. They thought about two questions. First, are people naturally good or evil? Second, what type of governmentis best? Thomas Hobbes, an Englishman born in 1588, is one of the Enlightenment thinkers. Hobbes wrote The Leviathan, published in 1651, observing the violence and behavior of people near the end of the English Civil War. He believed that monarchy is the best government. John Locke, another Enlightenment thinker, is an Englishman born in 1632. Furthermore, great competition between Matthews audiences formed because of Jesus, thus caused Matthew s plot to solely focus on conflict. This is because Matthew is engaged in some sort of polemic against the Jewish authorities. This is exemplified through the groups signified by the Pharisees, with Jesus speaking about the incompetence of the Pharisees, their influence and their actions. It is evident that Matthew s audiences were confused because Matthew brings forth a different point of view from what they are accustomed too, through his attempt of proving to them that Jesus is the Messiah. In order for one to understand the opposing viewpoints within this era, Matthew s readers need to have a thorough understanding of what the Jews perceived the Messiah to be and the criterion the Messiah had to fulfill. The term Messiah was derived from the Hebrew Mashiach, which means the anointed one, and refers to the ancient practice of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When conflicting elements resist, one another tension is produced. Therefore, Donne creates tension by abandoning the traditional Petrarchan Sonnet that conforms to the speaker s love for a woman and he speaks about his love for God. In John Donne s poem, Sonnet XIV, the poem s controlling meter is an Iambic Pentameter. The poems rhyme scheme is regular. The rhyme scheme of a Petrarchan sonnet being abbaabbacdcdee . The symbol is a contribution to the unity of the story. The symbol helps to create a more vivid picture of the way in which the speaker is in bondage and needs to be freed. The speaker continues his train of thought by saying labor to admit you, but oh, to no end meaning he tries to let the rightful owners in but his attempt was futile. Then he makes mention that he should be protected by the statement Reason your viceroy in me, me should defend/ But is captiv d, and proves weak or untrue . Suggesting that the ruler in him is either being held in confinement, puny or disloyal. All of the aforementioned have a congruous effect to the unity of the poem in entirety. Analyzing Themes Throughout Edgar Allen Poe s Short Stories Andrew Diamond Guadagnino English 3 11/12/16 Themes Throughout Edgar Allen Poe s Stories Edgar Allen Poe exhibits many different themes throughout his poems and short stories, most readers see his stories as consistently and exclusively putting death at the fore front in themes but there are countless other themes that Poe puts in his stories and poems. These themes include love, uncertainty, subconscious self, nature, human imagination, hope and despair so one can see that Poe is not as death oriented as many people think and say he is. The first theme I will be focusing on in this evaluation is death, Poe wrote many if not most of his short stories and poems focusing on death for example in Eldorado the main character can only fulfill his goals through dying, another example is The Raven where the main character is increasingly focused on imminent ... In the story Telltale Heart the narrator for nights on end ponders in detail of how he will kill the old man who is living in his house while trying to explain how he has not lost his own sanity this depiction of the human imagination ties directly into Poe s theme of death because he not only thinks about how he will kill he old man but inevitably kills the old man and hides him under the floor boards of his home. Nature, this theme is an underlying one and is not easily picked out of his stories yet the connection can still be made, in the short story The City in the Sea the city that had once prospered inevitably gets destroyed and sinks to hell, this gives the reader the idea that Poe does not like urbanized life and prefers nature. To support this idea, you can also make the connection that many of the Protagonists in Poe s stories and poems wander around in forests and other natural areas to discover something about their selves and have an epiphany you could call it like in the story ... Problems Associated With Hepatitis C Introduction: Indigenous peoples in Canada (First Nations, Inuit and MГ©tis) are recognized as having a significantly increased hepatitis C disease burden in comparison to non Indigenous Canadians (Uhanova, Tate, Tataryn, Minuk, 2013). Due to over representation in many groups considered high risk for hepatitis C transmission, such as those living in unstable housing or engaging in injection drug use, Indigenous peoples living in urban settings are particularly affected (Miller et al., 2010). Recent studies have shown that comprehensive research on the risk factors associated with hepatitis C acquisition in urban Indigenous populations is lacking (Uhanova et al., 2013; Plitt et al., 2011). Whether it s been through what is defined as genocide by some people, or being pushed out westward by the government and having land stripped away. This maltreatment has shaped the views of many people about Native American s rights. The topic of Native Americans has interested me because there has been so much injustice committed against them, yet there have been little to no attempts to amend them. I have never encountered a Native American and it made me realize how scarce their race is at this point in time. This realization made me keen on researching the discrimination Native Americans have been put through and what people have been doing to stop it. Through my research, I found that there is quite a large controversy about whether or not the mass killings of Native Americans were considered Genocide. Native Americans are still being stripped of their holy lands, such as the Dakota Pipeline, ruining their beautiful culture and history in the process. Native Americans have been subjected to mistreatment, however there remains a large population of people that don t think about the inequality they are exposed to. The injustice being committed needs to be read about in order to understand and improve the conditions that Native American tribes live in. It may be physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate to the loss or gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much passion or excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016). Blindness in a figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment. Literarily, it can be seen in the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind stupor (lacking awareness), blind prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste test (tasting without looking), blind presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson, 2014).
