What Went Wrong With Area 51
It was a normal day in Rachel Nevada, despite the superstitious date. The day was friday, November
thirteenth, in the year of two thousand one hundred and fourty three. The former tiny city of Rachel
had a huge population explosion after Area 51 was excavated due to the apparent proof against
extraterrestrial life. They knew this because scientists discovered a way to create a device to scan the
entire universe that would find and living organisms. No such things were found. However, they did
not scan earth. When Area 51 was destroyed, people started seeing weird things where Area 51 used to
be, so the former employees of Area 51 started building Area 52. The new alien sights and alien study
base spread across the western Americas and a lot of people moved to Rachel. During that time, the
population of Rachel increased to over fifty six thousand residents. Seventeen year old Lucas Duncan
was in his last period, English. This was his least favorite class because of his teacher, Mrs. Grow,
who gives her students a warning every time she catches them using improper grammar. Three
warnings and the student would get a lunch detention. Lucas called her Mrs. Slow because she was old

Dragged the box and Lucas to the car, and Derek went back to the crater to collect their things. When
he got back to the car, he put everything in and drove Lucas to the hospital. Apparently, the impact
was so bad that Lucas would be in a coma for the next three months. Then, Derek took the box with
the body in it to Area 51 and collected his five hundred thousand dollar reward. He used some to pay
for Lucas s hospital bill, and the rest he put into his college savings

Features Of Metaphysical Poetry
The first invention of the term Metaphysical Poetry by Samuel John as he pertained to the group of
writers in the beginning of the 17th century continues to give an impertinent impression for this kind
of works were made by men of high intellect. Presenting new ideas and marveling through the art of
conceit, imagery, and allusion surprises every reader and challenges them to the wonders of the poet s
learning. The metaphysical poets are the known writers for their originality. They were all unique and
original both in their thoughts and ideas. Instead of following the path of the contemporary poets, they
differentiated themselves in an unseen style of writing before them. Because of this, they were known
as the original poets of the English Literature. There are classified major poets who lived during 1500
1799. They are John Donne, George Herbert, Richard Crashaw, Abraham Cowley, Henry Vaughan,
Saint Robert Southwell, Thomas Traherne and Andrew Marvell. These are the well known
metaphysical poets of all time, but there are also lesser known poets and considered metaphysical
poets like Anne Bradstreet, George Chapman, Thomas Carew, Richard Leigh, Katherine Philips, Sir
John Suckling, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elliot, another characteristic of this poetry is the Unified Sensibility . It implies the interrelationship or
a combination of human thoughts and feelings. It delineates itself to some poetry works in which the
beauty of poetry only lies in the reason and judgment of the writer rather than the person s feelings.
That in the age of Pope, poets creates their work purely with the use of their intellect and not with
their emotions and feelings. With this the Unification of Sensibility became the imperative feature of
metaphysical poetry. And since the metaphysical poets did not disassociated feelings and reason from
one another, it indicated a more spiritual and physical , ethereal and earthly abstract and concrete ideas

Freud Vs Erikson Research Paper
Sigmund Freud s psychosexual theory and Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory are two important and
well known psychoanalytic theories on human development. Both theories are often compared and
contrasted in developmental studies. Like Freud, Erikson also believed that human development
occurs in a series of stages of a person s life. However, Freud s theory focuses on basic needs and
biological impulses like the need for food and sexual behaviors in the early stages of life. While
Erikson s theory emphasized on environment experiences and social interactions throughout the early
and later stages of life.
In the first year of development, the oral stage by Freud and the trust vs. mistrust stage by Erikson,
both psychologists believed children develop a sense of trust during this stage. Whereas through

In the 2nd stage, year 1 to 3, Freud described this as the anal stage and Erikson described this as
autonomy vs. shame and doubt. Both believed children develop the sense of independent at this stage.
During the 3rd stage, ages 3 6, we begin to see the differences in both Freud s and Erikson s theories.
Freud called this stage the phallic stage. During this stage Freud believed children begin to develop
pleasure in genitals, recognize their gender and develop self esteem. Erikson referred this stage as
initiative vs. guilt as children begin their preschool years. Children begin to face new challenges,
explore beyond themselves and develop a sense of initiative. If criticized or punished they begin to
feel guilty for their actions. Ages 7 to 11 is the 4th developmental stage. Freud

University of Phoenix Project Plan for Whitbread World Sailboat Race
In several months from now, on a misty spring morning the waters around London will be invaded by
sleek designs of the latest sailboats technology has to offer. Approximately 14 countries will converge
on the United Kingdom to participate in the Whitbread World Sailboat Race. One of the teams to
participate will be lead by Trygve Wallvik, chosen helmsman to represent his country. Over the next

Likewise, efforts in developing a routine sailing and maintenance program can commence on the old
vessel. As this maintenance program is developed, the crew will be able to use the new equipment as it
arrives to complete development of the program. This will take about 15 weeks. When the preliminary
routines are completed, the deck will be finished, and the boat parts (accessories, mast and seven sails)
will be ready for installation. After the parts are installed and crew maintenance training is complete,
the initial sail trainings effort will parallel the boat testing effort. Finally, when all initial training is
complete, there will be 8 weeks of see trials. Based on this plan the schedule from item M to S will
take 38 weeks to complete at an approximate direct cost of $270,000. The additional indirect expense
of operating the boats will cost $ 162,000 where the old vessel cost is $60,000, and the new vessel
cost is $102,000. The final effort will be the sea trials in the new boat will take eight weeks and have a
direct cost of $200,000 and indirect cost of $48,000 for using the boat. Based on the schedules and
paths lay out, the total cost of the project is $3,200,000, this would met the budget. Unfortunately, the
schedule for the design path through sea trials will take 44 weeks, whereas the schedule time for the
crew training through the sea trials will be 46 weeks. Since the initial two weeks were invested in cost
estimates, this means

John Ruskin s Unspoken Words
Unspoken words are harmless until they are spoken. One can think anything that he/she that comes
into their mind; however, no one will ever know what they are thinking. It is impossible to read minds;
therefore, no one can judge anyone based on what they know, their thoughts, and what they believe. In
fact, this is stated in John Ruskin s quote: What we think, or what we know, or what we believe is, in
the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do. This quote primarily means that
one cannot get into trouble unless they take action to access them into a situation. Moreover, John
Ruskin s statement is correct. This precision is demonstrated in numerous political/economical based
pieces of literature, and further displayed by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Implicit words are innocuous. One can think of anything that comes to their mind, and they cannot be
judged for it because no one knows what that thought is. Accordingly, thoughts, good or bad, are
harmless. A thought being innocuous is shown in George Orwell s novel, 1984. In this text, a
government attempts to take over the minds of its citizens. This happens if they are known to believe
in the wrong things. Wrong beliefs include believing in Big Brother as the nation s leader.
Furthermore, Winston, the main character, was down with the so called Big Brother, however, he
never stated his wrong beliefs (until revealed at the end). Because his thoughts were not spoken of, the
government did not find out that he wanted Big Brother to rule. In effect, Winston was not punished
for his beliefs, considering no one knew and could judge him on it. Not getting punishment shows that
there is no consequence in keeping your thoughts in, while the consequences can be extreme, getting
brainwashed, if you act on it. Similarly, within Barbara Ehrenreich s Serving in Florida, the narrator
went against her thoughts on speaking out in order to not be punished. In

The New Yorker s Short Story Ghosts And Empties
The July 20, 2015 edition of The New Yorker magazine, contains short story Ghosts and Empties .
The name of which drew me in. Typically when you hear such a title, you gear yourself in the
direction of a mystery, suspense, or even a thriller. I was pleasantly surprised when the story took a
different turn than I was expecting. The story follows an unnamed narrator on her nightly walks
through her neighborhood. As I read the story Ghosts and Empties , many thoughts passed through my
head. I thought of how vividly everything was portrayed, the pace at which the sentence structure
proceeded, or for much better explanation, why I chose to take the walk with the narrator. On this
walk I enjoyed the same solidity, and calmness in the stillness ... Show more content on

This is the conclusion our narrator comes to after one of her many walks. She says, It is terribly true,
even if the truth does not comfort, that if you look at the moon for long enough night after night, as I
have, you will see that the old cartoons are correct, that the moon is, in fact, laughing, but not at us, we
who are too small and our lives too fleeting for it to give us any notice at all. Life goes on. This
statement brought me to think about one of my favorite quotes. A man said to the universe: Sir, I exist!
However, replied the universe. The fact has not created in me, A sense of obligation. Stephen Crane.
The world owes me nothing. The first time I read this quote it was a slap in the face. This story
slapped me in the face for a second time. I realized I have gone most of my feeling entitled to many
major and even minor things. I live life as though I have done much to deserve things handed to me on
a golden platter rather than through hard work. While so caught up in my own world I may have
missed out on the outside. While thinking about my misfortune, I never thought once about the
moments that passed and people I have gone by. The earth keeps turning without me giving it a reward
so then why do expect one from it. The moon laughs at a joke told by Venus about Mars, and I in my
lowly human state walk on in awe of the universe. Life goes on but it is too much of a treasure to

Philadelphia Eagles are likely to pursue to Washington Professional Football Team wide receiver

admirers of each other. Jackson, who just turned 30 years old, a few days ago has not slowed down

Foreshadowing In Of Mice And Men
The deaths of Lennie Small and John Coffey were foreshadowed throughout both novella and film,
respectively. Lennie s death is foreshadowed by the death of Candy s dog. Candy s dog was old and
therefore suffering. Carlson, one of the migrant workers shoots the dog, directly through the head.
After the death of his dog, Candy becomes extremely lonely. He regrets letting Carlson shoot his dog
and wished that he had done it himself. Just like the dog, Lennie is also shot through the back of the
head. After Lennie kills Curley s wife, he follows George s orders and runs back to the Salinas River;
knowing that trouble would arise. George ends up shooting Lennie through he back of the head,
knowing that if he left Lennie alive the other men would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first chapter of Of Mice and Men , George discovers that Lennie had been keeping dead mice in
his pocket. Lennie insists on an unlikely story, that the mice were already dead when he found them.
This shows the audience that although Lennie does not mean to kill the mice, it keeps recurring
because he is completely unaware of his own strength. Later on in the story, Lennie kills one of Slim s
puppies. He was warned to be gentle and keep the pup with its mother but didn t listen. These scenes
keep building and building until the climax of the novella, when Lennie breaks the neck of Curley s
wife and kills her. During the film The Green Mile there is frequent foreshadowing of the powers that
John Coffey possesses. The first sign of John s magic is at the start of the film, when he is seen
holding the bodies of the two dead girls and crying. Although the magic is not clear at the time, the
audience is able to look back upon that scene and realise that John was trying to heal the two girls, not
hurt them. When John first gets to the Green Mile, Paul has an extremely painful UTI. John is able to
take Paul s UTI onto himself and regurgitate it out in the form of flies. This is the first obvious sign of
his magic. Later on in the book, John uses slightly more magic when Percy steps on Mr. Jingles the
mouse and kills him. John is able to reanimate the

Hurricane Katrina Flood Risk Analysis
Article #1: Flood Risk Management in the United States and the Impact of Hurricane Katrina.
Article #1 Major points: The major points that the article focused on were that since people have first
stepped foot on this continent, flooding has always been present. This constant presence has required
the federal and local governments to help assist with the flood control, management, and the damages
that flooding causes. There have been many policies established to help with floodplain management,
but since the terrorist attack on September 11th, the risk analysis approach has taken precedent over
the other policies (Galloway 302). Different disasters in our history have encouraged a variety of
action from the government and other organizations. For instance, failing dams prompted a national
dam safety program and analyzed the risks of those living below dams (301). Also, after Hurricane
Katrina, levee maintenance importance was increased; as there were major levee malfunctions that
heightened the destruction. The integrity of these infrastructures (dams, bridges, levees) that protect
the population should be maintained and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, flood insurance was established in areas that are located within the floodplain (302), as
well as the relocation and removal of buildings in areas at risk of continual flooding. Furthermore,
after Hurricane Katrina, levee maintenance importance was increased. Hurricane Katrina also instilled
the importance of proper preparation before the disaster strikes. The government has actively helped
with the continual flood management in America; sharing the cost with local, state, and federal
governments (302). There are many factors and policies in the preparation and management for
flooding, but since the attacks on September 11th, the risk analysis approach has taken precedence

Similarities Between Dreams And Dreams
One of the interesting differences between the two is that often, we are aware of watching a film, but
not that we are in a dream, which is an important difference that can have interesting consequences for
answering if a dream is a fiction. Lastly, Curry argues that in dreams we have a bi sociative character,
meaning that we have both the sense of being in the dream and being a spectator in it, this is an
interesting phenomenon, however, I think that this also exists in normal everyday experience in the
form of reflexive awareness. By reflexive awareness, I mean that we can have an awareness that we
are aware, so this phenomenon is not exclusive to dreams. Looking at the similarities between film
and dreams is an interesting avenue to examine the question, but does not give a full enough evidence
to show that dreams are indeed fictions, nor does it answer the question if a dream is even like a film,
all it shows is that they have similarities. However, it is possible to think of a dream as a film, if you
imagine a device that can record your dreams and then project it onto a screen and watch the dream on
the screen then the dream would act as if it were a film, having the same similarities as mentioned
above. But, there would also be a lot lost in the translation as well, such as the bi sociative character
(Curry), and the ability to feel so much in a dream. But due to the ease in which it is possible to
imagine a dream as a film, it strengthens the argument for a

The Transformation Of Enkidu And Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh starts out as an immature, cruel and emotionally stunted character. He is described as
young and borne along by emotion by the elders of the city of Uruk before embarking on a foolhardy
and dangerous mission (II 289). Enkidu was created by the gods to be the equal of Gilgamesh, one
mighty in strength (MB Ni, pg. 4). Both Enkidu and Gilgamesh grow as characters; doors represent
transitions and mark key points where both characters mature. At these points they are put on the path
towards discovering what they should do with their lives and how they should approach the concept of
death. These transitions come in various forms, such as Enkidu stopping Gilgamesh s ruthlessness by
physically blocking him, Enkidu coming to terms with his certain death by disavowing a cedar door,
or Gilgamesh being questioned at the gates of Mashu by the scorpion people guardians. However, in
all cases, either one or both of the protagonists must reflect on their current state of moral
development.
One of the most significant ways that Gilgamesh matures is by becoming a good king. This process
begins right before the two heroes fight in Tablet II, demonstrated through the following narrative
description: Enkidu with his foot blocked the door of the wedding house, not allowing Gilgamesh to
enter (II 111 112). By physically preventing Gilgamesh from entering the house and taking advantage
of a bride, Enkidu shows that he is equal in strength to the king, and fulfills his initial

Wormian Bone Formation Case Study
Joselynne Macias
ANTH 344
Annotated Bibliography Draft
Arsdale, A. P., Clark, J. L. (2010). Re examining the relationship between cranial deformation and
extra sutural bone formation. International Journal of Osteoarchaeology,22(1), 119 126.
doi:10.1002/oa.1188
This study aimed to see whether cranial deformation leads to an increase in the presence/occurrence of
wormian bones. Finding appropriate samples to test this is particularly difficult because Hanihara and
Ishida s (2001) study of undeformed crania from a worldwide sample demonstrated that at least five
types of extra sutural bone show a large degree of between population variance in terms of frequency
of occurrence. This study analyzed a sample of 59 crania (deformed ... Show more content on

It also discussed the debated causal factors for wormian bones. Both genetic and environmental
factors have been discussed as possible causes and various theories exist that support both genetic and
environmental factors as possible influencers. For example, mechanical deformation of the cranium
(such as intentional deformation like the cradle boarding practiced in ancient cultures) has shown to
affect the number and location of wormian bones but does not seem to affect overall incidence of
them, which can be seen by the case study in the Arsdale article. In addition, some studies have shown
that the occurrence of wormian bones in the anterior fontanelle may have some genetic basis. Anther
support for genetic factors is that wormian bones definitely have pathological and diagnostic
implications. Because wormian bones are consistently seen in some autosomal dominant genetic
disorders, they are used as markers in the diagnostic disorders like pyknodysostosis, osteogenesis
imperfecta, rickets, cleidocranial dysplasia, hypothyroidism, Down syndrome, etc. I don t think
environmental and genetic factors are mutually exclusive. They are both supported hypotheses, though
how they intersect is yet to be

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Frying
Frying is one of the dehydration process. It is a process of heat transfer and mass transfer occur
simultaneously with the moisture out of food by water vapor, and the oil is absorbed into the food
simultaneously (Sun, 2014). Traditional frying is operated at atmospheric pressure which raw material
is dipped in hot oil. The oil will serve as an intermediary in the heat transfer lead to occur the complex
reactions between raw materials and oil. These processes result in high heat transfer rates and lead to
rapid develop of texture, flavor, and color. However, surface darkening, higher acrylamide formation,
nutritional loss and many characteristics adverse occur during frying process because its uses high
temperatures. In addition, as oxygen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Increasing concerns over product quality and production costs have motivated the researchers to

assisted vacuum frying include the following: lower frying temperature, shorter frying time, improved

Wang, 2006).
Following a brief discussion of some of the basic aspects of vacuum frying, the effect of different
operating parameters (pre treatment, frying temperature, frying time, pressure condition, and de oiling
step) and effect of vacuum frying on the quality of food products are presented in subsequent section.
In addition, effect of microwave assisted vacuum frying on the quality of fried foods also

Arthurian Legend
Arthurian Legend, group of tales in several languages that concern the legendary King Arthur of the
Britons, his realm, and the knights of his inner circle. The legend is one of the most enduring tales in
recorded history. It first appeared in the 5th or 6th century ad and took its basic form between the 12th
and 15th centuries. It continues as a popular subject in modern times.
The legend presents Arthur as a leader in ancient times who defeats the Saxons and other enemies. He
thereby unites the people of Britain in peace and harmony. Eventually his kingdom weakens from

and Arthur himself is struck down by his own illegitimate son, ... Show more content on

As Arthur fathers an illegitimate son, so too does Lancelot, although he does so while under a spell
that makes him think the woman (named Elaine) is actually Guinevere. Lancelot s son, Galahad, is
entirely free of sin and weakness, and thus he alone is ultimately qualified to complete the quest and
find the Holy Grail. (Sir Bors and Sir Percival accompany him, but they are excluded from the final
holy vision that appears to Galahad as he reaches the Grail.)
Once the quest is ended, peace does not last, and eventually Arthur s armies are embroiled in new
wars, including one with the Romans, who demand tribute from Arthur and provoke a battle. Not all
the conflicts involve foreign enemies, however. When Arthur discovers Lancelot and Guinevere s love
affair, his system of justice requires that Guinevere be arrested and condemned to death. Lancelot flees
but then returns to rescue her. During the ensuing battle, Lancelot kills the brothers of Sir Gawain,
who remain loyal to Arthur. As a consequence, Gawain and Lancelot, formerly the closest of friends,
become enemies.
Arthur s absence from court while battling the Romans and pursuing Lancelot offers Mordred the
opportunity to seize the throne. He attempts to do so by buying the allegiance of Arthur s barons, and
some texts say that he either

Nurse Competency
Practice problems are those that affects care, need a solution, and would make a difference when gets
improved (Assisting Nurses with Practice Problems). Every workplace has one or other practice
problems that are current (Current Issues and Topics, n.d.). In my workplace, one of the major
problems is the varying competency levels of nurses. The purpose of this paper is to establish that
varying levels of nurse competency is a current practice problem.
Identification of a practice problem

leads to the hiring of new nurses. My workplace accepts new graduates. As they are the beginners in

During the orientation period and after, she used to miss medications, charted incorrect etc. This
required other nurses to do her work too. The general levels of competency of nurses of my workplace
range from level competent to the expert. Based off of my statistics, thirty three percent of the nurses I
oriented were incompetent nurses. Hiring these nurses might be an easy way for the employer to solve
staffing shortage. But it raises another problem. No institution has time to train one third of their staff,
still tend to their patients when there is a staffing shortage. Neither the patients nor the existing nurses
deserve such a jeopardizing situation. Even though to achieve competence, there needs to be an
individualized time frame (Carraccio, Benson, Nixon, Derstine, 2008), the competence level requires
nurses to have at least two to three years of experience. This help them plan ahead and work
efficiently (Peña, 2015). What everyone expects from the newcomers is having theoretical knowledge
and just lacking experience. Thirty three percent of what we get are people with almost no theoretical
or practical knowledge or experience (Carraccio, et al.2008). Every nurse has different levels of
competency depending on their level of education and experience. When someone lacking both
requirements enters the workforce, the training time used slows the workforce till the new nurse
reaches the required

Compare And Contrast In Cold Blood Movie And Book
In Cold Blood tells the nonfictional story of the Clutter family murder in Holcomb, Kansas in 1959.
The novel also follows the lives of the murderers Dick Hickock and Perry Smith afterwards. Truman
Capote, the author, closely follows the investigation after the murder, interviewing everyone from the
main detective on the case to the townsfolk. Many of skeptical of In Cold Blood s authenticity; many
believed some parts of the book were fabricated. There were details many believed Capote would have
never known. In comparison to the film Capote, there are many inconsistencies within Capote s story
and the novel he wrote. In the novel, Capote writes the story as if he was never there. He reports

The movie, which was thoroughly researched so it could be as accurate as possible, is inaccurate with
the book. For example, in the novel, Capote states that Perry Smith revealed the details of the murder
to Alvin Dewey and Duntz in a car on a highway in Arizona (pg. 232). In the film, however, Perry tells
Capote the details of the murder directly in Perry s cell. This inconsistency was most notable,
especially since Capote never once mentioned actually meeting Perry. However, in the movie, Capote
befriends Smith and visits him regularly. Another notable difference is the coverage of the murderers.
In the book, you learn a lot about the lives of the killers before the murder, starting in their childhood,
especially for Perry (pg. 131). However, in the movie, Capote asks very few questions about their
lives prior to the murders. Another obvious detail is the presence of Harper Lee; there was no mention
of her in the novel but according to the movie, she was prevalent from the very second that Capote
went to Holcomb. Though many of these details could be counter argued for being omitted due to
relevance, it s interesting to observe the differences in two stories about the same plot. More questions
come to rise because in the movie, Capote pays for

The Lifestyle Of The Amphibian
The lifestyle of the amphibian is very complex and fragile. Just the mere fact that amphibians are
biphasic causes them to run into a variety of problems. Since they deal with both an aquatic and
terrestrial environment, they tend to run into an increased amount of pollutants and environmental
changes. Pollution both on land and in water can affect water pH and other variables that can be very
harmful to an amphibian s survival. Since amphibians can be used basically as biomarkers to the
environment, the study and resolution of this problem can aid in two conservation efforts. Not only
will we be able to increase amphibian populations but we also help make environments less polluted.
Healthy amphibians equal a healthy habitat for all. The reason why amphibians are considered
biomarkers is because they have a rather unique skin. It is thin and permeable because most all
amphibians use their skin for respiration. This also allows the skin to absorb and excrete water. That
means if the water is polluted or contains impurities, the amphibian will absorb all these changes
through their skin. This can make the animal very sick. It s even worse for the larvae and eggs of the
amphibians. Larval and neotenic amphibians are completely aquatic and have less keratinized skin
then most adult amphibians. This makes them more affected by changes in water composition. Since
amphibians don t lay shelled eggs, the embryos are directly exposed with the water and all its

Background Information On The Sykes Picot Agreement
Background Information on the Sykes Picot Agreement After the war broke out in the summer of
1914, the Allies Britain, France and Russia held many discussions regarding the future of the Ottoman
Empire, now fighting on the side of Germany and the Central Powers, and its vast expanse of territory
in the Middle East, Arabia and southern central Europe. In March 1915, Britain signed a secret
agreement with Russia, whose designs on the empire s territory had led the Turks to join forces with
Germany and Austria Hungary in 1914. By its terms, Russia would annex the Ottoman capital of
Constantinople and retain control of the Dardanelles (the crucially important strait connecting the
Black Sea with the Mediterranean) and the Gallipoli peninsula, ... Show more content on

On May 19, 1916 representatives of Great Britain and France secretly reach an accord, known as the
Sykes Picot agreement. The Sykes Picot Agreement , officially known as the Asia Minor Agreement
was a secret agreement between the governments of the United Kingdom(Britain) and France, with the
assent aid of Russia, defining their biased proposed spheres of influence that provide them with an
advantage of gaining control in the Middle East should the Triple Entente succeeded in dethroning the
mighty Ottoman Empire during the first World War back in early 1919. The negotiation of this
treaty/agreement occurred between November of 1915 and March of the year 1916. The agreement
finally came to a close on the 19th of May 1916.
The agreement effectively used, implied and put into action the famous imperialistic tactic of the
Europeans: Divide and Rule . This agreement divided the Arab provinces of the Ottoman Empire
outside the Arabian peninsula into areas of future British and French colonization using their
advantage in control and/or influence. Under Sykes Picot, the Syrian coast and much of modern day
Lebanon went to France; Britain would take direct control over central and southern Mesopotamia,
around the Baghdad and Basra provinces. Palestine would have an international administration, as
other Christian powers, namely Russia, held an interest in this region. The rest of the territory in

Impact Of The Dov Charney Of American Apparel Industry
In business, ethics is categorized by a business s ability to follow moral standards and regulations.
Often businesses or CEO s make moves that are considered unethical like stealing money from the
company expenses or saying something in public that is inappropriate, resulting in backlash. An
example of an unethical CEO is Dov Charney of American Apparel. Its CEO is extremely unethical,
unlike the CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, who is considered a very ethical CEO to a very ethical
company. Being an ethical CEO has to do with who you employ and how you treat your employees. It
also has to do with how you have your goods made and how the people that make them are treated.

Economic transparency is also required in the company meaning that suppliers have to submit

safety. They also comply with the minimum wage requirements and forbid child and forced labor.
Third party verifiers also protect the management of waste and water quality along with the
conservation of water and energy. All of this is considered ethical because it protects both the

Dobie Persuasive Techniques
4 Creative Ways to Exercise Your Dobie
In all my years on this Earth, I can only be absolutely sure of two things.
a) Dobies like to have fun.
b) Their owners like to have fun.
That is why I decided to come up with this list. Dobie s are adorable dogs, who happen to love
exercise a lot. Nothing beats walking in the park with a Dobie, inhaling the pine scented air, enjoying
the beauty of nature. That being said, there are other, less conventional, ways to exercise your dog
besides walking him. I will list my favorite four right here.
1) Swimming
Dogs love to swim and Dobie s are no exception. In the hot summer months, when a walk may be
impractical, nothing beats a nice refreshing swim.
If you live near a local lake, then let your Dobie dive right in. Otherwise, you may be able to find a
veterinarian, boarding kennel, or groomer that has a large dog pool. ... Show more content on

2) Laser Pointers
Dobie s have so much energy. Sometimes it is just hard to keep up with our four legged friends. That
is what laser pointers are for.
Dogs love these things. Dobies are no exception. Our friends will chase around a laser pointer for as
long as we can point it, burning up tons of calories in the process. In the midst of all the fun, make
sure you don t accidentally point the laser in your pal s eyes as it can damage his retina.
3) Make Your Dobie Work For His Supper
Okay, that headline was a joke. I could never do such a thing to my precious pal. However, hiding
after or before meal treats around the house is a great source of entertainment (also a great way to get
a house messy if you don t strategically place the treats). More importantly, it is great exercise for
your dog and a nice change of pace.
4) Tug of

Government does not have My College s Back
Last week, while having my morning coffee, I overheard a conversation between a college lecturer
and a well known secretary in The Ministry of Finance. I was about to return upstairs in my office
when I observed the secretary pushed forward, looking the lecturer directly in her eyes emphatically
and aggressively said, You academics just don t get it...the government aint gat no money to take care
no university. I relaxed in my seat as the conversation between the two raged on. This same discussion
is but a fragment of a national discussion that has been ongoing in this country for many years, and the
debate is whether or not The Bahamas is economically, financially and socially developed enough to
maintaina university. This situation has become a worrying problem indeed.According to her article,
We Do Not Need A University , Ms. Pam Burnside discusses the issue of The Bahamas being a small
independent nation who wants to ameliorate its tertiary level institution with inadequate financial
resources. She further explains that the Bahamas is too greedy and is ashamed of the College that we
already have in existence. In addition, she argues that The Bahamas does not need a university and
simply cannot afford it. In response to Burnside s arguments, I most certainly agree with her. The
College of The Bahamas is not well equipped to become a university as it lacks a few vital
components that need to be addressed urgently: Financial resources,Infrastructure and Staffing.

the firm s 25% average annual growth in net sales and net earnings from 1971 to 1980: The company s

Two GAFCEL salespeople one full time, the other about half time had reached a $1 million annual
sales rate. Several of AirCap s distributors had taken on the GAFCEL line. Hauser was preparing to
recommend Sealed Air s reaction to these somewhat unanticipated competitors. The firm could
produce an uncoated bubble as cheaply as GAFCEL within a month with no major capital investment;
it could run on machines used for another Sealed Air product. If Hauser were to recommend that the
historic champion of barrier coating offer an uncoated bubble, he would have to specify timing, the
marketing program for the new product, and any adjustments in policies for AirCap cushioning and
Sealed Air s other products. As Hauser thought about his options, he again flipped through the training
manual recently distributed to Sealed Air s sales force: How to Sell against Uncoated Bubbles.

Eolian Harp Essay
In Coleridge s poem Eolian Harp , the harp itself used as a motif to represent creativity. Another poet
that used the eolian harp motif was Percy Shelly. Shelly s poem Ode to the West Wind , uses the harp
and nature as a motif to represent creativity. Throughout Shelly s poem, he expresses his creativity
with nature. An example like the season of autumn and the changes of season. He also uses a describe
style of writing and the Eolian harp to define creativity with nature. And the poem has similarities to
the Eolian Harp .
The poem Ode to the West Wind , expresses creativity through nature. Shelly used the aspects of
nature to express creativity. He used autumn, the sea and changing of the seasons to convey creativity.
For example, in Ode to the West Wind , Shelly writes the line Wild spirit, which art moving
everywhere . In this line, Shelly is expressing that in the spirit of nature art is moving. In this passage,
he is talking about the season of autumn. The being verse O wild west wind thou breath of autumn s
being . Both verses express that autumn can bring out creativity. The moving of the wind is being
compared to art moving everywhere in nature that can fuel creativity. Shelly also uses the sea to
express creativity. There are a few lines that Shelly uses to show this. One line is, Thou who ... Show

Relationships In Shakespeare sTitus Andronicus And Henry...
Shakespeare lights a candle of conflict in the beginning of his plays and appeals to individual opinions
throughout his plot, only to cause the fire of confusion to engulf the reader s mind at the end. He uses
the themes of violence, bravery and lust in his plays, the Titus Andronicus and Henry IV Part 1, to
show the masculinity of the characters. Moreover, he portrays societal expectations and the father s
prejudices as the main culprits for the ill understanding between the father and the son. How can a
father s personal prejudice overpower his love for his child? Is it the father s greed for respect and
societal grandeur that causes a clash between him and his son? In Titus Andronicus and Henry IV Part
1, Shakespeare sculpts unique and convoluted Father Son relationships, which are a result of the
fathers expectations and their perception of masculinity. Titus Andronicus introduces the reader to a
multifaceted relationship of a father and a son. In the very first scene of the play, just after Titus says,
What, villain, boy / Barr st me my way in Rome? (1.1.295 96), he kills Mutius, his own son. Titus is
not concerned about his daughter eloping with Bassianus, rather he believes that the ten year long war
has won him the ownership of Rome. His pride cannot let anyone, even his son, stand between him
and his prized possession. Shakespeare uses violence to depict the masculine character of Titus. Titus
ego shines more brightly in these lines than his love for his son.

The customisation features mentioned above are only the beginning of the personalisation movement,
as user monitoring technologies continue to progress, websites will have much greater access to
information and be able to use this information in more productive ways. One example is Digital
Rights Management (DRM) which was initially developed to prevent copyright infringement,
however more advanced forms of DRM can now be used to gather digital media usage data which is
used to develop preference profiles and implement price discrimination (Inderscience, November
2008). The information gathered via such new technologies would allow websites to develop adverts
that are designed to appeal to each individual consumer and promote products and services the
customer has the greatest interest in. Looking further into the future, websites may be able to work
together to produce and share individual user profiles which contain personal details and information
on preferences that could be used for marketing, or possibly creating universal user logins which give
access to all participating websites.
Although there is strong evidence to suggest that personalisation can greatly improve the appeal of a
website, restraints would still need to be used when setting the level of customisability as too much
can be detrimental to the website by making the experience confusing and feel intrusive (Fung, T.
Dec. 2008).

Rhetorical Analysis Of Neville Longbottom
Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can t practice any other
virtue consistently. This quote by Maya Angelou exemplifies a value that Neville Longbottom
eventually comes to terms with. In the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Neville
Longbottom gives out a speech that captivates everybody s attention. Neville is a friend to Harry,
Hermione, and Ron, who all belong to the Gryffindor house, which symbolizes the bravery in
Hogwarts. Throughout the series, Neville had always been a very shy and timid character, but as the
end of the last movie approached, he started becoming more and more like a Gryffindor should be.

This is mostly displayed when Neville exclaims, They didn t die in vain. [he turns to Voldemort] But
you will! Because you re wrong! Harry s heart did beat for us. For all of us! By raising his voice,
Neville is able to convey an angry and exasperated tone which makes the audience see the emotion
that the speaker is trying to portray. The screaming shows how he is challenging Voldemort and
demonstrating his bravery and credibility towards the concerned audience. This tone is an effective
rhetorical strategy since it basically shows the speaker s emotions and his ability to pass on these
emotions towards the audience. By doing so, Neville is able to successfully motivate the audience and
make sure that they all are involved in killing Lord Voldemort. Furthermore, Neville also uses an
authoritative tone, showing that he is not afraid of Voldemort, and ultimately proving that his life is
not worthy in comparison of any of the lives that he has taken from Neville s group of friends. This
specific tone is appropriate for the occasion because it was right after Harry s death, which made all of
the audience vulnerable, and making Voldemort feel like he had essentially won the war he had been
fighting. By having an authoritative and challenging tone, it made Voldemort see that this war was not
over yet and that he was not done fighting since he would have to pay for all the harm he

The Importance Of A Teacher Leadership Program
Talking Point #1
Drawing upon class activities, course materials and professional experiences explain why it is
important for a school leader to demonstrate skills that promote teacher leadership functions focused
on instructional proficiency and enable faculty and staff to work as a system focused on student
learning. (2a, 7d)
Nowadays it is paramount to appreciate the teacher leadership idea. When school leaders demonstrate
skills that promote teacher leadership functions that are focused on instructional proficiency to enable
faculty and staff to work as a system focused on student learning, it not only makes students progress
academically, but it also makes the job of any school leader much easier. Hitherto, some school
leaders prefer to organize their schools by centralizing most of the decision around them. Danielson
(2007) wrote that successful schools have administrators who incentivize teachers to become leaders
and which makes students learn more than those schools that do not. To embrace this idea, I will
welcome the teacher leadership concept and give the appropriate support so my schools may achieve
great success and teachers are able to present their full talent. Indeed, school administrators must do
their best to promote proper teacher leadership. When that happen, their actions make teachers and
staff members work responsibly and independently with a well defined application of their roles. Once
this kind of attitude becomes accepted and trust is

Elizabeth Barrett-Browning and Virginia Woolf Essay
Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Virginia Woolf
I chose to compare and contrast two women authors from different literary time periods. Elizabeth
Barrett Browning (1806 1861) as a representative of the Victorian age (1832 1901) and Virginia Woolf
(1882 1941) as the spokeswoman for the Modernist (1914 1939) mindset. Being women in historical
time periods that did not embrace the talents and gifts of women; they share many of the same issues
and themes throughout their works however, it is the age in which they wrote that shaped their
expressions of these themes. Although they lived only decades apart their worlds were remarkably
different their voices were muted or amplified according to the beat of society s drum. ... Show more

The Modernist skepticism is vivid in Woolf s portrayal of a woman, Isabella, who has not conformed
to society s accepted norms and would seem to be at first glance all the better for it. But, upon closer
inspection it is with a sigh of resignation that Virginia recognizes the illusion that her fanciful
exploration created for her. Isabella (possibly representative of Virginia herself or of womanhood in

Physical Education And Physical Education
My issue I have chosen to focus on is physical education (PE) and gender in upper key stage 2. This is
because 39% of children across the United Kingdom have a poor attitude towards any sort of physical
activity by 11 years old (Harris, 2015). My aim is to mainly focus on why some girls do not like the
thought of taking part in a PE lesson and what we can do in school to help. Mason (2014), found that
some girls do not join in any activity in or out of school due to what they experience in school PE
lessons. Supporting evidence shows how physical activity attitudes are linked back to our experiences
throughout school (Griggs, 2015). It is important to ensure what children experience through school
during physical education is consistently positive and enjoyable to encourage physical activity within
and outside of school too. There may be many reasons for why children do not enjoy joining in PE
lessons and the excuses to avoid them can vary. However, it is important as a country that physical
exercise is encouraged to ensure children are remaining active. I find it interesting that it is mainly
girls who are wanting to avoid PE, therefore my aim is to find a way to overcome this problem by
implementing strategies that will give children, especially girls, the best experience in school PE
lessons possible, in order to encourage them to participate.
I have chosen this issue as it has been a problem for years; research shows that teachers have noticed
how girls do not want to

  • 2. What Went Wrong With Area 51 It was a normal day in Rachel Nevada, despite the superstitious date. The day was friday, November thirteenth, in the year of two thousand one hundred and fourty three. The former tiny city of Rachel had a huge population explosion after Area 51 was excavated due to the apparent proof against extraterrestrial life. They knew this because scientists discovered a way to create a device to scan the entire universe that would find and living organisms. No such things were found. However, they did not scan earth. When Area 51 was destroyed, people started seeing weird things where Area 51 used to be, so the former employees of Area 51 started building Area 52. The new alien sights and alien study base spread across the western Americas and a lot of people moved to Rachel. During that time, the population of Rachel increased to over fifty six thousand residents. Seventeen year old Lucas Duncan was in his last period, English. This was his least favorite class because of his teacher, Mrs. Grow, who gives her students a warning every time she catches them using improper grammar. Three warnings and the student would get a lunch detention. Lucas called her Mrs. Slow because she was old and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he got back to the car, he put everything in and drove Lucas to the hospital. Apparently, the impact was so bad that Lucas would be in a coma for the next three months. Then, Derek took the box with the body in it to Area 51 and collected his five hundred thousand dollar reward. Features Of Metaphysical Poetry The first invention of the term Metaphysical Poetry by Samuel John as he pertained to the group of writers in the beginning of the 17th century continues to give an impertinent impression for this kind of works were made by men of high intellect. Presenting new ideas and marveling through the art of conceit, imagery, and allusion surprises every reader and challenges them to the wonders of the poet s learning. The metaphysical poets are the known writers for their originality. They were all unique and original both in their thoughts and ideas. Instead of following the path of the contemporary poets, they differentiated themselves in an unseen style of writing before them. Because of this, they were known as the original poets of the English Literature. There are classified major poets who lived during 1500 1799. They are John Donne, George Herbert, Richard Crashaw, Abraham Cowley, Henry Vaughan, Saint Robert Southwell, Thomas Traherne and Andrew Marvell. These are the well known metaphysical poets of all time, but there are also lesser known poets and considered metaphysical poets like Anne Bradstreet, George Chapman, Thomas Carew, Richard Leigh, Katherine Philips, Sir John Suckling, ... It delineates itself to some poetry works in which the beauty of poetry only lies in the reason and judgment of the writer rather than the person s feelings. That in the age of Pope, poets creates their work purely with the use of their intellect and not with their emotions and feelings. With this the Unification of Sensibility became the imperative feature of metaphysical poetry. • 4. Freud Vs Erikson Research Paper Sigmund Freud s psychosexual theory and Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory are two important and well known psychoanalytic theories on human development. Both theories are often compared and contrasted in developmental studies. Like Freud, Erikson also believed that human development occurs in a series of stages of a person s life. However, Freud s theory focuses on basic needs and biological impulses like the need for food and sexual behaviors in the early stages of life. While Erikson s theory emphasized on environment experiences and social interactions throughout the early and later stages of life. In the first year of development, the oral stage by Freud and the trust vs. mistrust stage by Erikson, both psychologists believed children develop a sense of trust during this stage. Whereas through feeding or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freud called this stage the phallic stage. During this stage Freud believed children begin to develop pleasure in genitals, recognize their gender and develop self esteem. Erikson referred this stage as initiative vs. guilt as children begin their preschool years. Children begin to face new challenges, explore beyond themselves and develop a sense of initiative. If criticized or punished they begin to feel guilty for their actions. Ages 7 to 11 is the 4th developmental stage. Freud ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As this maintenance program is developed, the crew will be able to use the new equipment as it arrives to complete development of the program. This will take about 15 weeks. When the preliminary routines are completed, the deck will be finished, and the boat parts (accessories, mast and seven sails) will be ready for installation. After the parts are installed and crew maintenance training is complete, the initial sail trainings effort will parallel the boat testing effort. Finally, when all initial training is complete, there will be 8 weeks of see trials. Based on this plan the schedule from item M to S will take 38 weeks to complete at an approximate direct cost of $270,000. One can think anything that he/she that comes into their mind; however, no one will ever know what they are thinking. It is impossible to read minds; therefore, no one can judge anyone based on what they know, their thoughts, and what they believe. In fact, this is stated in John Ruskin s quote: What we think, or what we know, or what we believe is, in the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do. This quote primarily means that one cannot get into trouble unless they take action to access them into a situation. Moreover, John Ruskin s statement is correct. One can think of anything that comes to their mind, and they cannot be judged for it because no one knows what that thought is. Accordingly, thoughts, good or bad, are harmless. A thought being innocuous is shown in George Orwell s novel, 1984. In this text, a government attempts to take over the minds of its citizens. This happens if they are known to believe in the wrong things. Wrong beliefs include believing in Big Brother as the nation s leader. Furthermore, Winston, the main character, was down with the so called Big Brother, however, he never stated his wrong beliefs (until revealed at the end). Because his thoughts were not spoken of, the government did not find out that he wanted Big Brother to rule. In effect, Winston was not punished for his beliefs, considering no one knew and could judge him on it. Not getting punishment shows that there is no consequence in keeping your thoughts in, while the consequences can be extreme, getting brainwashed, if you act on it. Similarly, within Barbara Ehrenreich s Serving in Florida, the narrator went against her thoughts on speaking out in order to not be punished. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The New Yorker s Short Story Ghosts And Empties The July 20, 2015 edition of The New Yorker magazine, contains short story Ghosts and Empties . The name of which drew me in. Typically when you hear such a title, you gear yourself in the direction of a mystery, suspense, or even a thriller. I was pleasantly surprised when the story took a different turn than I was expecting. The story follows an unnamed narrator on her nightly walks through her neighborhood. As I read the story Ghosts and Empties , many thoughts passed through my head. I thought of how vividly everything was portrayed, the pace at which the sentence structure proceeded, or for much better explanation, why I chose to take the walk with the narrator. She says, It is terribly true, even if the truth does not comfort, that if you look at the moon for long enough night after night, as I have, you will see that the old cartoons are correct, that the moon is, in fact, laughing, but not at us, we who are too small and our lives too fleeting for it to give us any notice at all. Life goes on. This statement brought me to think about one of my favorite quotes. A man said to the universe: Sir, I exist! However, replied the universe. The fact has not created in me, A sense of obligation. Stephen Crane. The world owes me nothing. The first time I read this quote it was a slap in the face. This story slapped me in the face for a second time. I realized I have gone most of my feeling entitled to many major and even minor things. I live life as though I have done much to deserve things handed to me on a golden platter rather than through hard work. While so caught up in my own world I may have missed out on the outside. While thinking about my misfortune, I never thought once about the moments that passed and people I have gone by. The earth keeps turning without me giving it a reward so then why do expect one from it. The moon laughs at a joke told by Venus about Mars, and I in my lowly human state walk on in awe of the universe. Life goes on but it is too much of a treasure to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lennie s death is foreshadowed by the death of Candy s dog. Candy s dog was old and therefore suffering. Carlson, one of the migrant workers shoots the dog, directly through the head. After the death of his dog, Candy becomes extremely lonely. He regrets letting Carlson shoot his dog and wished that he had done it himself. Just like the dog, Lennie is also shot through the back of the head. After Lennie kills Curley s wife, he follows George s orders and runs back to the Salinas River; knowing that trouble would arise. Lennie insists on an unlikely story, that the mice were already dead when he found them. This shows the audience that although Lennie does not mean to kill the mice, it keeps recurring because he is completely unaware of his own strength. Later on in the story, Lennie kills one of Slim s puppies. He was warned to be gentle and keep the pup with its mother but didn t listen. These scenes keep building and building until the climax of the novella, when Lennie breaks the neck of Curley s wife and kills her. During the film The Green Mile there is frequent foreshadowing of the powers that John Coffey possesses. The first sign of John s magic is at the start of the film, when he is seen holding the bodies of the two dead girls and crying. Although the magic is not clear at the time, the audience is able to look back upon that scene and realise that John was trying to heal the two girls, not hurt them. When John first gets to the Green Mile, Paul has an extremely painful UTI. John is able to take Paul s UTI onto himself and regurgitate it out in the form of flies. This is the first obvious sign of his magic. Later on in the book, John uses slightly more magic when Percy steps on Mr. Jingles the mouse and kills him. John is able to reanimate the ... • 11. Hurricane Katrina Flood Risk Analysis Article #1: Flood Risk Management in the United States and the Impact of Hurricane Katrina. Article #1 Major points: The major points that the article focused on were that since people have first stepped foot on this continent, flooding has always been present. This constant presence has required the federal and local governments to help assist with the flood control, management, and the damages that flooding causes. There have been many policies established to help with floodplain management, but since the terrorist attack on September 11th, the risk analysis approach has taken precedent over the other policies (Galloway 302). Different disasters in our history have encouraged a variety of action from the government and other organizations. For instance, failing dams prompted a national dam safety program and analyzed the risks of those living below dams (301). Also, after Hurricane Katrina, levee maintenance importance was increased; as there were major levee malfunctions that heightened the destruction. The government has actively helped with the continual flood management in America; sharing the cost with local, state, and federal governments (302). • 12. Similarities Between Dreams And Dreams One of the interesting differences between the two is that often, we are aware of watching a film, but not that we are in a dream, which is an important difference that can have interesting consequences for answering if a dream is a fiction. Lastly, Curry argues that in dreams we have a bi sociative character, meaning that we have both the sense of being in the dream and being a spectator in it, this is an interesting phenomenon, however, I think that this also exists in normal everyday experience in the form of reflexive awareness. By reflexive awareness, I mean that we can have an awareness that we are aware, so this phenomenon is not exclusive to dreams. Looking at the similarities between film and dreams is an interesting avenue to examine the question, but does not give a full enough evidence to show that dreams are indeed fictions, nor does it answer the question if a dream is even like a film, all it shows is that they have similarities. However, it is possible to think of a dream as a film, if you imagine a device that can record your dreams and then project it onto a screen and watch the dream on the screen then the dream would act as if it were a film, having the same similarities as mentioned above. But, there would also be a lot lost in the translation as well, such as the bi sociative character (Curry), and the ability to feel so much in a dream. But due to the ease in which it is possible to imagine a dream as a film, it strengthens the argument for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Transformation Of Enkidu And Gilgamesh Gilgamesh starts out as an immature, cruel and emotionally stunted character. He is described as young and borne along by emotion by the elders of the city of Uruk before embarking on a foolhardy and dangerous mission (II 289). Enkidu was created by the gods to be the equal of Gilgamesh, one mighty in strength (MB Ni, pg. 4). Both Enkidu and Gilgamesh grow as characters; doors represent transitions and mark key points where both characters mature. At these points they are put on the path towards discovering what they should do with their lives and how they should approach the concept of death. These transitions come in various forms, such as Enkidu stopping Gilgamesh s ruthlessness by physically blocking him, Enkidu coming to terms with his certain death by disavowing a cedar door, or Gilgamesh being questioned at the gates of Mashu by the scorpion people guardians. However, in all cases, either one or both of the protagonists must reflect on their current state of moral development. One of the most significant ways that Gilgamesh matures is by becoming a good king. This process begins right before the two heroes fight in Tablet II, demonstrated through the following narrative description: Enkidu with his foot blocked the door of the wedding house, not allowing Gilgamesh to enter (II 111 112). By physically preventing Gilgamesh from entering the house and taking advantage of a bride, Enkidu shows that he is equal in strength to the king, and fulfills his initial ... Re examining the relationship between cranial deformation and extra sutural bone formation. International Journal of Osteoarchaeology,22(1), 119 126. doi:10.1002/oa.1188 This study aimed to see whether cranial deformation leads to an increase in the presence/occurrence of wormian bones. Finding appropriate samples to test this is particularly difficult because Hanihara and Ishida s (2001) study of undeformed crania from a worldwide sample demonstrated that at least five types of extra sutural bone show a large degree of between population variance in terms of frequency of occurrence. This study analyzed a sample of 59 crania (deformed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also discussed the debated causal factors for wormian bones. Both genetic and environmental factors have been discussed as possible causes and various theories exist that support both genetic and environmental factors as possible influencers. For example, mechanical deformation of the cranium (such as intentional deformation like the cradle boarding practiced in ancient cultures) has shown to affect the number and location of wormian bones but does not seem to affect overall incidence of them, which can be seen by the case study in the Arsdale article. In addition, some studies have shown that the occurrence of wormian bones in the anterior fontanelle may have some genetic basis. Anther support for genetic factors is that wormian bones definitely have pathological and diagnostic implications. Because wormian bones are consistently seen in some autosomal dominant genetic disorders, they are used as markers in the diagnostic disorders like pyknodysostosis, osteogenesis imperfecta, rickets, cleidocranial dysplasia, hypothyroidism, Down syndrome, etc. I don t think environmental and genetic factors are mutually exclusive. They are both supported hypotheses, though how they intersect is yet to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a process of heat transfer and mass transfer occur simultaneously with the moisture out of food by water vapor, and the oil is absorbed into the food simultaneously (Sun, 2014). Traditional frying is operated at atmospheric pressure which raw material is dipped in hot oil. The legend is one of the most enduring tales in recorded history. It first appeared in the 5th or 6th century ad and took its basic form between the 12th and 15th centuries. It continues as a popular subject in modern times. The legend presents Arthur as a leader in ancient times who defeats the Saxons and other enemies. He thereby unites the people of Britain in peace and harmony. Lancelot s son, Galahad, is entirely free of sin and weakness, and thus he alone is ultimately qualified to complete the quest and find the Holy Grail. (Sir Bors and Sir Percival accompany him, but they are excluded from the final holy vision that appears to Galahad as he reaches the Grail.) Once the quest is ended, peace does not last, and eventually Arthur s armies are embroiled in new wars, including one with the Romans, who demand tribute from Arthur and provoke a battle. Not all the conflicts involve foreign enemies, however. When Arthur discovers Lancelot and Guinevere s love affair, his system of justice requires that Guinevere be arrested and condemned to death. Lancelot flees but then returns to rescue her. During the ensuing battle, Lancelot kills the brothers of Sir Gawain, who remain loyal to Arthur. As a consequence, Gawain and Lancelot, formerly the closest of friends, become enemies. Arthur s absence from court while battling the Romans and pursuing Lancelot offers Mordred the opportunity to seize the throne. The general levels of competency of nurses of my workplace range from level competent to the expert. Based off of my statistics, thirty three percent of the nurses I oriented were incompetent nurses. Hiring these nurses might be an easy way for the employer to solve staffing shortage. But it raises another problem. No institution has time to train one third of their staff, still tend to their patients when there is a staffing shortage. Neither the patients nor the existing nurses deserve such a jeopardizing situation. Even though to achieve competence, there needs to be an individualized time frame (Carraccio, Benson, Nixon, Derstine, 2008), the competence level requires nurses to have at least two to three years of experience. This help them plan ahead and work efficiently (Peña, 2015). What everyone expects from the newcomers is having theoretical knowledge and just lacking experience. The movie, which was thoroughly researched so it could be as accurate as possible, is inaccurate with the book. For example, in the novel, Capote states that Perry Smith revealed the details of the murder to Alvin Dewey and Duntz in a car on a highway in Arizona (pg. 232). In the film, however, Perry tells Capote the details of the murder directly in Perry s cell. This inconsistency was most notable, especially since Capote never once mentioned actually meeting Perry. However, in the movie, Capote befriends Smith and visits him regularly. Another notable difference is the coverage of the murderers. In the book, you learn a lot about the lives of the killers before the murder, starting in their childhood, especially for Perry (pg. 131). However, in the movie, Capote asks very few questions about their lives prior to the murders. Another obvious detail is the presence of Harper Lee; there was no mention of her in the novel but according to the movie, she was prevalent from the very second that Capote went to Holcomb. • 20. The Lifestyle Of The Amphibian The lifestyle of the amphibian is very complex and fragile. Just the mere fact that amphibians are biphasic causes them to run into a variety of problems. Since they deal with both an aquatic and terrestrial environment, they tend to run into an increased amount of pollutants and environmental changes. Pollution both on land and in water can affect water pH and other variables that can be very harmful to an amphibian s survival. Since amphibians can be used basically as biomarkers to the environment, the study and resolution of this problem can aid in two conservation efforts. Not only will we be able to increase amphibian populations but we also help make environments less polluted. Healthy amphibians equal a healthy habitat for all. The reason why amphibians are considered biomarkers is because they have a rather unique skin. It is thin and permeable because most all amphibians use their skin for respiration. This also allows the skin to absorb and excrete water. That means if the water is polluted or contains impurities, the amphibian will absorb all these changes through their skin. This can make the animal very sick. It s even worse for the larvae and eggs of the amphibians. Larval and neotenic amphibians are completely aquatic and have less keratinized skin then most adult amphibians. This makes them more affected by changes in water composition. Since amphibians don t lay shelled eggs, the embryos are directly exposed with the water and all its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare lights a candle of conflict in the beginning of his plays and appeals to individual opinions throughout his plot, only to cause the fire of confusion to engulf the reader s mind at the end. He uses the themes of violence, bravery and lust in his plays, the Titus Andronicus and Henry IV Part 1, to show the masculinity of the characters. Moreover, he portrays societal expectations and the father s prejudices as the main culprits for the ill understanding between the father and the son. How can a father s personal prejudice overpower his love for his child? Is it the father s greed for respect and societal grandeur that causes a clash between him and his son? In Titus Andronicus and Henry IV Part 1, Shakespeare sculpts unique and convoluted Father Son relationships, which are a result of the fathers expectations and their perception of masculinity. Titus Andronicus introduces the reader to a multifaceted relationship of a father and a son. In the very first scene of the play, just after Titus says, What, villain, boy / Barr st me my way in Rome? (1.1.295 96), he kills Mutius, his own son. Titus is not concerned about his daughter eloping with Bassianus, rather he believes that the ten year long war has won him the ownership of Rome. The Modernist skepticism is vivid in Woolf s portrayal of a woman, Isabella, who has not conformed to society s accepted norms and would seem to be at first glance all the better for it. But, upon closer inspection it is with a sigh of resignation that Virginia recognizes the illusion that her fanciful exploration created for her. Isabella (possibly representative of Virginia herself or of womanhood in general) is elevated and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Physical Education And Physical Education My issue I have chosen to focus on is physical education (PE) and gender in upper key stage 2. This is because 39% of children across the United Kingdom have a poor attitude towards any sort of physical activity by 11 years old (Harris, 2015). My aim is to mainly focus on why some girls do not like the thought of taking part in a PE lesson and what we can do in school to help. Mason (2014), found that some girls do not join in any activity in or out of school due to what they experience in school PE lessons. Supporting evidence shows how physical activity attitudes are linked back to our experiences throughout school (Griggs, 2015). It is important to ensure what children experience through school during physical education is consistently positive and enjoyable to encourage physical activity within and outside of school too. There may be many reasons for why children do not enjoy joining in PE lessons and the excuses to avoid them can vary. However, it is important as a country that physical exercise is encouraged to ensure children are remaining active. I find it interesting that it is mainly girls who are wanting to avoid PE, therefore my aim is to find a way to overcome this problem by implementing strategies that will give children, especially girls, the best experience in school PE lessons possible, in order to encourage them to participate. I have chosen this issue as it has been a problem for years; research shows that teachers have noticed how girls do not want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
