Pablo Picasso was born in Málaga, Spain in 1881. He showed an early talent for art from a young age, encouraged by his artist father who began formally training him at age 7. As a teenager, Picasso demonstrated artistic skills that surpassed his father. Between 1891-1895, Picasso and his family lived in La Coruña where he began his art studies. In 1895, Picasso visited the Prado Museum in Madrid and saw Las Meninas by Velázquez, which greatly influenced his work. After this, the family moved to Barcelona where Picasso studied at the Llotja School of Fine Arts for two years.
