Pablo Picasso was a Spanish artist born in 1881 in Malaga, Spain. He moved with his family to Barcelona as a young artist where he was surrounded by other painters and writers. Picasso is considered one of the most influential artists of the 20th century for co-creating Cubism with Georges Braque, breaking from artistic traditions that had dominated Western art since the Renaissance. His long life and varied artistic styles make him a key figure for understanding the history of 20th century painting.
