Pablo Picasso was a highly influential Spanish painter born in 1881. He began painting and drawing at a very young age and showed early talent that was recognized by his father. Picasso experimented with different artistic styles throughout his career, including his Blue Period where he depicted sadness, his Rose Period featuring more cheerful scenes, and his revolutionary Cubist Period where he broke objects down into geometric forms. Later in his career, Picasso painted his monumental anti-war piece "Guernica" depicting the brutality of the Spanish Civil War. He had connections to the Surrealist movement as well. Picasso was one of the most famous and impactful artists of the 20th century.
