LIFE
Pablo Ruiz Picasso, born in a town called Malaga in Spain, known as Pablo Picasso, was a Spanish painter
and sculptor, creator, along with other artists of the cubist movement. Considered one of the greatest artists
of the 20th century, painted more than two thousand works currently present in museums and collections
throughout Europe and the world.
He was a member of the French Communist Party until his death on 8 April 1973 in France, he died at the
age of 91. He is buried in the Vauvenargue Castle Park.
His father was José Ruiz y Blasco and his mother was Maria Picasso y Lopez.
EDUCATION
At the age of 13, he enters the same Barcelona art school where his father worked as a teacher,
learning new and different types of artistic expression, and his formal education takes him to the
Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid.
In Barcelona, Picasso enters the group of the intellectual vanguard of the city, which meets at the 'Els
Quatre Gats' brewery, where his first solo exhibition takes place.

CUBISM
Cubism is the name given to an artistic movement of the 20th century that broke into the European
artistic scene in 1907. Its characteristic style explores a new geometric perspective of reality. Cubism
does not consist of painting through cubes. On the contrary, cubism recognizes and embraces the two-
dimensional nature of the canvas and renounces three-dimensionality, rather trying to represent in its
paintings all possible points of view of an object, simultaneously.
