Picasso was born in Malaga, Spain in 1881. He was influenced by his father, who was a drawing teacher. When Picasso went to Paris in 1900, he was influenced by the impressionist, abstract, and unique styles of other artists at the time. Between 1901-1904, Picasso's paintings were predominantly blue, known as his blue period. With cubism, Picasso and Braque transformed the way objects were represented in pictures. Picasso was supported early in his career, though his art was controversial among some critics. Picasso had a huge influence and is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
