 Your Sport and Exercise Physician may diagnose concussion by reviewing your
medical history, carrying out a thorough physical examination and performing some
simple cognitive tests. Radiological investigations such as a CT or MRI scan may be

 80-90% of concussions will resolve within a few days of relative rest, followed by a
short spell of active recovery and gradual resumption of sporting activities.

 Links between the cervical proprioceptors and the autonomic nervous,

 Postural control may have potential to alter other systems and affect pain
and should be considered as one of the processes that might influence
the transition to chronicity after a whiplash
 The causes of transition into chronicity after whiplash trauma are present
early and appear to be multifactorial. Postural control deficits and the
symptoms of dizziness appear to have a role.

1) Structural evaluation of the eyes does not provide a complete
screening or diagnostic assessment for a comprehensive
understanding of the visual system.
2) Vision is a skill. Visual learning and re-learning have
hierarchies that are fundamental to the development and re-
establishment of visual pathways in visual perception and
visual behavior.
3) We should not put central exercises on a system that has
had a potential concussion. Building on an already challenged
peripheral system and/or vestibular/proprioceptive system may
cause the athlete to get worse.
