Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot Plan
Project title:
Project:
Project Description:
A monthly music magazine that focuses on indie and underexposed artists, that
has a unique edgy style. The magazines that inspired it are Kerrang for style, and
NME for content. My magazine also competes with these as monthly magazines,
which is why I have made UNKNWNS price considerably cheaper than NME and
Kerrang, so that it can have a similar demographic, but remain in direct
competition.
Photographer:
- I will be the photographer
- Technical code, Mid Angle shot , from a straight angle
- The lighting will be low key
- The effects I will use after will depend on what I can do to make the picture look
even better, I might also use the eye dropper tool to change the colour of the
eyes, or make them more vibrant. I may also use a black and white filter
It is called UNKNWN (derived from unknown) as I want the magazine to bring
people acts and bands that are unknown to them, and to promote unknown
bands generally. The verbal code ‘UNKNWN’ suggests that this magazine brings
people lesser known bands. The denotations of ‘UNKNWN’ is that the magazine
endeavors to bring people new and exciting music every month.

Reference images and ideas:
For inspiration I looked into other music magazines, like NME, Kerrang and Q,
past and present, paired with my own preexisting knowledge of the genre. I also
looked at album covers and pictures of artists to form an understanding of what I
wanted. I like this images as they are moody and black and white, reflecting the
Magazines style, many of them also incorporate black and white imagery,
showing the band together in unity, such a coming together of people is
something common in the rock genre which promotes togetherness and unity.
Casting:
They have the right style, similar to myself, meaning that the three of us match
up and would be suitable
Model requirements:
At least 6 feet tall, long, or distinguishable hair, male, average build in order to look
like someone stereotypical of the genre. It is also important however to look laidback
Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot Plan
as it is part of UNKNWN’s image to be more about the music than anything else
particularly appearance, although they should still clearly be within the rock genre.
Preferably the person should be slightly more pale to reflect the rock stereotype.
Wardrobe and Look:
 Plaid Flannel shirt
 Guitar
 Ripped Jeans

Hair and Make up:
I would like my model to have long unkempt hair, not a lot of styling is needed,
but generally thicker slightly more curly hair would be ideal
