This document outlines a research study that will identify problems that speakers of the Shina language face in pronouncing English consonants. The objectives are to determine the specific problems Shina speakers encounter and ways to overcome them. The research questions ask what problems exist, why, and how they can be addressed. The hypothesis is that there is a significant difference between how Shina and native English speakers produce consonant sounds. The study aims to help Shina speakers in northern Pakistan improve their English pronunciation through quantitative analysis of recordings. It will be limited to students at one university.
