For many years, scholars have debated whether a standard form of English exists. Some argue that variants of English spoken in different places are incorrect, while others believe a standard form cannot exist given the evolving nature of language. The article explains that while scholars have sought to establish a standard English, this has not been possible as language is constantly changing and developing. The research is applied, using an established theory to investigate the topic, and relies on a priori knowledge gained from observing variants of English used in different countries.
