Loss Of Innocence In Eugenia Collier s Marigolds
In Eugenia Collier s short story, Marigolds, the loss of innocence is described with the protagonist
s claim that innocence involves an unseeing acceptance of things at face value, an ignorance of the
area below the surface (Collier 6). Similarly, all members of society must eventually make the
transition from youthful children to mature adolescents. Recently, however, the rate at which
children mature has increased rapidly, due to the increasing influence of the media and society on
individual lives. The loss of innocence is caused by developing awareness of the suffering, danger,
and pain encountered in life, as shown through Lois Lowry s novel, The Giver; Jason Yu s poem,
Tears; and Nicoletta Ceccoli s painting, Love will tear us... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yu writes that a young 5 year old girl weeps in a city without care./Without anyone to save her
from her sins [...], exposed to beatings, not knowing that such behavior is normal (Yu Lines 7 8).
Due to the child s very young age, readers can assume that her loss of innocence must have been
influenced by external pressures from the media and society. As this child weeps in the middle
of an ignorant city of people, she feels conflicted because of her inability to define reality; she is
aware of the presence of dangers in the world, but is unable to let go of her childhood memories
involving fun and happiness. The young child now understands the concept of no magic, and
that the fairytale is dead [...] [Similarly,] this princess knows nothing of childhood./But rather the
bitter sorrows of the darkened morrow (Yu Lines 16 18). Although she understands the concept
of no magic (Yu Line 16), this girl holds on to the last shred of hope that she has to keep her
childhood memories alive. By writing that the girl knows the bitter sorrows of the darkened
morrow (Yu Line 18), Yu contrasts the girl s memories with the reality around her, showing the girl
s naiveness to the realities of the world. Finally, as the young child bleeds inside as though all was
lost, [she looks like a] five year old in a world of black

In Jackson S The Lottery, Custom And Tradition...
In Jackson s The Lottery, custom and tradition institutionalize atrocious acts. In the story the setting
is a small, what looks to be an inspiring community with a population of around three hundred
people. Jackson paints a picture of a community where he said, flowers were blossoming profusely
and the grass was richly green. (1) . Jackson wants the audience to believe that the community was
ordinary and innocent, but ends with a dramatic and unnecessary stoning. It leaves the readers
stunned, but Religious Persecution happens all over the world in the most remote place and right in
our back yards, and readers are not able to wrap their minds around that truth. On a quiet morning,
June 27th, the residents, beginning with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The color of the box even symbolizes the hate evil. The three legged stool that the black box sits
upon represents the Trinity. Each segment represents God the father, God the son, and the Holy
Spirit. The wooden stool that the black box of evil sits upon, is ironic because the Trinity
represents purity and perfectness, but the black box of death represents sin and evil. This is very
important because they are trying to justify their stoning with religion to support the violence that
will be committed, thinking that it s is justifiable to stone someone to death because of religious
views or ideas, and that God would be ok with the community sacrificing innocent people.
Although the villagers had forgotten the ritual and lost the original black box, they still
remembered to use stones. (123) This quote show that the community was willing to forget a little
from the past, but not the crude stoning of another human being. The townspeople seem to get
some sort of sick pleasure from the stoning. Bobby Martin had already stuffed his pockets full of
stones, and the other boys soon followed his example, selecting the smoothest and roundest stones;
(2) this shows us that the young kids were find the smoothest rocks. Most rocks were very raspy
and unsmooth . The reason is because the smoothest rock would not kill the victim fast, jagged
rocks will kill the victim very quickly, but with smooth stones, it would make the victim have a

Unholy Confessions Mood
I started off my day by waking up to my boyfriend s phone alarm. The song is called Unholy
Confessions by Avenged Sevenfold. It is in the genre of heavy metal and he picked that song to
help wake him up since he s a heavy sleeper. The tempo of the music was fast and the dynamics of
this song was forte. The main contributor to the dynamics is the vocalist who just screams the
majority of the song. The combination of loud and fast musiccreated an upbeat mood which makes
us feel like jumping out of bed every morning. For the meter, there were four beats in a measure,
and I found it by listening for the downbeat which was the combination of the bass, the bass
drum, and loud electric guitar on the first beat of every measure. I don t particularly like this
genre of music and listening to it makes me feel very uncomfortable because to me it s very
chaotic and not it s not peaceful enough. In my musical theatre class, we are studying the musical
Show Boat (1927). During class, we watched a YouTube video on the performance of the song
called Ol Man River. This song s genre is operaand I can tell because the style is to sing very long

I love this song because it is sung by my favorite artist Taylor Swift and the genre is pop. I can
immediately tell this song is pop because of the style of the song. The beat is fast, the guitar and
keyboard creates a hip and cool beat, and I can recognize the artists voices immediately. The
texture of this song is thick as it is edited to have many different instrumental parts adding to make
the song come together as one. Zayn is a male singer and sings in the countertenor vocal range, but
he can also sing in a high soprano vocal range like Taylor Swift does in this song. The couple both

The International Labour Organisation ( Ilo )
Responsible sourcing is a universal method to the sustainable evaluation of materials. This is an
environmental, economical and social way of obtaining construction supplies such as concrete.
Responsible sourcing is a progressively imperative factor for specifiers and clients in the
construction commerce. The idea first industrialized in fair trade of food products and fair
employment conditions for production of consumer goods. The International Labour Organisation
(ILO) was founded in 1919 to be accountable for drawing up and supervising international labour
standards. Responsible sourcing adds to this by involving other environmental, social and economic
characteristics of sustainability. The UK government spearheads in this aspect of ... Show more

There is an agenda for the organisational authority and supply chain management and this must be
adopted clearly by all companies.
It can be assumed that responsible sourcing can be a very crucial factor that contributes towards
construction and civil engineering as concrete is used in almost all projects. This is why it is
paramount to produce this concrete from trusted sources. Hence 89% of all concrete in 2012
was certified to BES 6001 and of the production tonnage certified, 99% has achieved Very Good
or Excellent performance rating. As sustainability is a key world issue now, it is important to
keep in mind where companies produce their resources. If concrete was not responsibly sourced
then a lot of unwanted issues could arise. For example it could lead to the concrete not being of
the same quality as a responsibly sourced one. Also it may increase the carbon footprint and
cause global warming if responsibly sourcing was avoided to keep costs low. Although the short
term effects of using cheap concrete is good the long term effects of responsibly sourced concrete
outweighs this. In their analysis Georgopoulos and Minson (2014, p. 129) say, The UK concrete
industry is supporting the BES 6001 as it is the most comprehensive standard available and
measures the whole infrastructure of the supply chain . It is not easy for companies to be certified
by this and they have to meet certain requirements, which includes having a

Drug Court Reflection
When I came into Drug Court, I was lost and confused. I thought it was a joke and I thought I
could keep doing what I wanted to do. I thought the Judge and everyone on the team was just out
to get me. I didn t know who I was because I built my life on lies. I never aspired to anything
great. Being in Drug Court this long has shown me that the Judge and the Drug Court team
really do care about each and every one of us personally. I can see that the Drug Court team cares
and always has time for me no matter what, to give me so much encouragement. It wasn t until I
was in Drug Court that my life changed and I believe that I was headed for a prison sentence
which that didn t matter to me at the time. Drug Court showed that they believe in us, that we
are okay, and they really do care about us to take the time to help us. It has taught me to be more
of a responsible person. Going to jail was honestly one of the best things that ever happened to
me and I needed to be in there. I no longer wanted to be everyone s burden and the family
disappointment. I have realized what all I have put my mom through and I am sorry for all the
wrong I ve done, the sleepless nights, the broken promises, and the stealing of money. I m sorry
for the embarrassment I ve caused. I m sorry for all of the pain, arguments and stress. I want my
mom understand that I never intended to hurt her. I have learned a lot about myself that I never
knew existed, because the person I used to be is a totally different person than I am today. Me
wanting to changeis why I changed and I changed everything. If people didn t share the same
interest as me or I sensed any type of negativity that could rub off on me, I disassociated myself
with those people. If you decide to change you have to change everything, not just the areas that
are convenient for you. No one can force you to do it and some do it cause they are told to but
when they are done with their program, they end up going right back to where they started off.
Drug Court is not easy and I have sat through a lot of graduations, and I would always hear the
graduates say if I can do it so can you and I am sorry to say that is just not true, or everyone would
graduate. I have seen a couple of

Our Paper Today Will Be On Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo Is
Our paper today will be on Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is an American bank that was created in 1852
by Henry Wells and James Fargo. It is the second largest bank in the USA in terms of market cap,
operates in over 42 countries around the world, and has over 260,000 employees.
In 2016, federal regulators caught Wells Fargocreating millions of fake bank and credit card
accounts; over 1.5 million bank accounts were created. Furthermore, federal regulators also said
that 565,443 credit cards were created, and 1400 of those accounts had been charged over 400,000
dollars in fees. Wells Fargo employees broke many ethical and legal boundaries and engaged in
counterproductive work behavior.
Counterproductive work behavior has a negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This practice was so common that Wells Fargo employees had several methods for doing this.
The first method is sand bagging. Sand Bagging involves failing to open accounts by customers at
their requested date, instead accumulating accounts to open in the next sales period to inflate
profits. Another practice was called Pinning which was creating pin numbers without customer s
authorization, and attaching them to credit cards. Then employees would impersonate customers
on Wells Fargo s computers and use these pin numbers to create online banking and bills for
customers. Finally, a practice called bundling was done where Wells Fargo employees would
mislead customers saying that certain banking products were only available in bundles which
forced customers to add more products than they wanted. So, one wonders, how could this have
happened? Why did high expectations of sales lead to unethical, almost criminal behaviour? This
is tied to Goal Setting theory. Goal setting theory, created by Edwin Locke, states that employees
are motivated by clear goals, and appropriate feedback. Individuals that were given clear, specific
and difficult goals had greater performance than individuals given general and easy goals. However,
research has shown that setting unattainable and challenging goals can lead to risky or even
unethical behaviour. A study done by

Eastern and Western Medicine Essay
Eastern and Western Medicine
The complex structure and foreign nature of Tibetan medicine makes it difficult to relate its
practices to Western medicine, making it difficult to determine the clinical efficacy of Eastern
medical practice. Several clinical analysis studies have recently been performed in order to
determine the efficacy of the holistic practices of Eastern cultures. Whether the studies show
Eastern or Western practices to be more effective, I believe that the most effective treatment should
be a combination of both practices.
Eastern and Western practices differ on many levels. One of the main differencesbetween these two
methods is the way in which medicine is actually practiced. Western medicine is heavily... Show

It is a strong belief of the Tibetans that their karma of previous lives plays a significant role in their
health.5
Tibetan medicine practices the belief that methods must be practiced as equally as they are
learned academically. Misinterpretations of certain Buddhist aspects of Eastern medicine create
difficulties in relating Eastern and Western principles. Some Westerners feel that all you need to
practice medicine in the East is a strong sense of compassion to help people, without having any
real knowledge of the medical practices: A few weekend courses and all the good intentions in
the world it would seem is all that is thought to be necessary. (Dummer p. 11). This, however, is
not the case at all. Eastern practitioners spend years learning medical procedures and techniques
before going into practice. They are also fully educated in the spiritual aspects of medicine as
well, as for religion plays a significant role in Eastern practices. Inadequate training may result in
improper care and detrimental diagnosis to those who may be seriously ill or suffering from
undiagnosed diseases.7
Eastern medicine also differs from Western practices in the way in which the human body is
classified. In Tibetan medicine, the constituents of the body are quantified more on an observatory
and physical basis, rather than the scientific and technological methods used in Western medicine.

The Great Recession Essay
George Santayana, a Spanish poet and philosopher said, Those who do not learn history are
doomed to repeat it. This quote applies to the Great Depression of 1929 and the Great Recession of
2008. There are many similarities between the two, like the causes, the actual events, and the
aftermaths. Several factors led to the Great Depression, which were the following: overproduction
by business and agriculture, unequal distribution of wealth, Americans buying less, and finally, the
stock market crash of 1929. The Great Recession also had similar factors leading to it, like the
housing bubble burst and less consumer spending. In both events, the Presidents enacted programs
that they believed would help the American people. In the early... Show more content on

economy, people began buying stocks on the margin. They would borrow most of the stock s price
from a stockbroker and only pay a little bit of the price. If the stock prices kept rising, this system
would work well, but if the prices fell, people could not pay the loan back. Near the end of the 1929
year, prices were too high, so people wanted to sell their stocks. They thought the prices would
lower soon. Stock prices did go lower and people were not buying. They all wanted to sell their
stocks. Prices went even lower on October 29, where 16 million stocks were sold. This caused the
collapse of the market.
Similarly, the Great Recession was due to consumer spending cutbacks and a drop in demand
for the establishment of new housing. In the two decades previous to 2008, the American
growth rate was very high. Their household needs also became very high, which made demand
increase. Spending was at a high. However personal income was decreased. The consumers then
had to borrow money from the banks. This gave the consumers debt. So, when the house prices
rose, banks stopped loaning money to people and the people decreased their spending. This
happened because the people were not able to pay the banks back. People also cut back on buying
or making new houses, so household demand dropped. Many say that this decrease caused the
Great Recession. Housing was one of the main subjects that many believe, caused the Great
Recession. Subprime mortgage availability and low interest

Toys And Gender Stereotypes
Compartmentalization is a process that begins before a person even takes their first breath in this
world. The color of their room is picked out based upon gender as is their clothes, toys, and name
all before they are born. Girls get girl names, girl toys, and other girly things so that they know
what genderthey are, as if it was a hard thing to figure out. The same thing occurs with boys but
young ladies are the ones being held back from aspiring to do big things or really anything other
than cooking and being a mom. This issue is largely due to compartmentalization being that our
entire lives are predetermined by society based on our gender and while many break free from the
stereotypes it is much harder to do so when your entire community... Show more content on

The fashion doll Barbie came into the lives of children everywhere in America in 1959 when the
toy company Mattel Inc. began producing them on a mass scale. These toys would create a huge
gender stereotype at first where Barbies were just being made to look pretty and fashionable, it
was not until later they gave Barbie many versatile roles to inspire girls to be much more than
pretty. Pleasant Company later came out with American Girl in 1986 which were different from
Barbie and typically came with a book. The books usually captured the past in a romanticized
manor and but also had some very empowering messages for girls which was a step in the right
direction. Then Bratz in 2001 made by MGA Entertainment which had an entirely new take on
gender role orientation. Research presented by Karniol, Stuemler Cohen, and Lahav Gur (2012)
suggest that girls gender role orientations have an impact on which doll they prefer. The study
they conducted pertained only to younger girls who explained their preference as to why they
might choose a Bratz doll over a Barbie doll or why they might not even have a preference at all
and how their perception of gender coincides with their choices. Bratz were marketed to teens, or
dolls for tweens, which appealed largely to older girl on their way to becoming teens. In their
research they look at feminine versus masculine traits in the dolls and incorporate how the girls
might associate those traits with the dolls they state that, Feminine girls, who are more gender
stereotyped, would be expected to indicate greater liking of Barbie, which is more stereotypical in
her clothing, coloring, and appearance. (Karniol et al., 2012, p.889). Karinol argued that the doll
that the girls chose would be based off their gender role identity and that by following the four
gender roll orientations: masculine, feminine, undifferentiated, and androgynous she

Bonnie Steinbock On Infidelity

theory. Then, I will explain Steinbock s argument. Next, I will explain my thinking for reason
number one, and for reason number two on how it supports my argument. Following, I will address

In the article, Steinbock suggests that infidelity could be acceptable under some situations. She

Use Of Biodiesel Over Petroleum Diesel
1.0 Thesis:
The use of biodiesel over petroleum diesel can be proven be easier to make, more energy efficient
and a greener way to run you vehicle.
2.1 Argument 1: Process
The use of biodiesel over the more common petroleum diesel has become a more frequent sight
as people strive for an easier and more environmental beneficial way to run their vehicle with only
small modifications needed. Unlike diesel which uses crude oil, biodiesel is made by converting
oils such as waste vegetable oils to bio diesel.
Diagram 1: Waste oil
As can be seen in the comparison matrix like conventional petrol, biodiesel is also made up of long
chains of hydrogen and carbon atoms, though as can be seen in diagram 1 the oils used to create
biodiesel are slightly different in having three chains of these fatty acids being connected by a
backbone of glycerine. To be able to use these oils for fuel the glycerine backbone has to be
removed, which is done through a process called transesterification. Equation 1: transesterification
process
The transesterification process uses alcohols such as methanol which is seen in equation 1 to break
the bonds between the fatty acid chains and the glycerol backbone. Once the glycerol bonds have
been broken away from the fatty acid chain, they are then replaced by methoxy groups from the
methanol used in the process. According to (The Cemistry of Biodiesel, 2014) this process is best
done at a temperature of around 50В°C for a complete

The middle member of the Bakken Formation is a calcareous sandstone that formed offshore in a
regressional environment that formed with a rapid lowering of sea level.
One of the primary structures in the Bakken Formation is the Nesson Anticline which lies in the
northwestern part of North Dakota (Schieber, 2001). The Nesson Anticline in North Dakota trends
North for 176 km. The Williston Basin as a whole is a sedimentary basin that is located west on the
North American craton that dates Paleozoic in age, making the Bakken Formation an intracratonic
formation. The Williston Basin is located in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Saskatchewan,
and Manitoba. However, the Bakken Formation is not the only formation within the Williston
Basin, however it will be the only formation discussed in this paper.
II. Formation of the Bakken
The Bakken Formation is a Late Devonian to Early Mississippian formation within the Williston
Basin as seen below in Figure 1. To understand the process that formed the Bakken it is necessary
to understand the formation of the Williston Basin as a whole. Figure 1 represents the stratigraphy
of the Williston Basin. The Bakken Source Rock can be seen between the Devonian and the
Mississippian contacts in this diagram. This figure also shows that the Williston Basin began
subsiding in the Late Cambrian and continued to subside since then (Peterson, 1995). Also seen in
Figure 1 is the Nesson Anicline that

Alliteration In Into Thin Air
The text is an extract from chapter 8 in Jon Krakauer s adventurous nonfiction book, Into Thin Air,
based on the 1996 Mt. Everest disaster. In the text, the author utilizes simile, alliteration, and
symbolism to describe the hazardous climb in Mt. Everest to the readers, which the danger further
illustrate the theme of conflictof values.
First of all, similes are used to informs readers about the deadly climate on Mt. Everest. When
sunlight exposes, the author mentions the ice walls amplifying radiant heat like a huge solar oven
(line 4). The simile compares the radiant heat to a huge solar oven, which emphasizes the heat of
the climate as huge solar oven produces extreme heatwaves. Although this comparison is an

Everest. Camps such as Camp One and Two all symbolize small goals of the hikers because
climbers set their sights on reaching the next camp rather than to reach the summit. Camps
represent small goals of a larger goal. In this scene, Krakauer reaches Camp Two, only achieving
one of the first few small goals, yet he already encounters problems as he came upon a large
object wrapped in blue plastic sheeting... that was a human body (line 11 14) and becomes too
miserable to eat or even read (line 20 21) due to the altitude s malicious force. This is just the
situation in Camp Two, the early stage of the journey, and the situation is already bad with
things going to be worsening in the higher camps. The symbolism of the camps, therefore, help
picture how dangerous Mt. Everest is even in the lower level of the summit climb. The danger
further exerts pressures on hikers, making them face a conflict of values. As hikers, they have
values of being courageous. However, since Mt. Everest is established to be extremely dangerous
even at the early stages, they face inner conflict to whether or not to continue believing in their

since they only achieved a small goal, but are already confronted by the severe reality of

Why choose USSD?
It can run without both mobile softwares and SIMs.

Critical Analysis Of Long Day s Journey Into Night
In Anne Fleche s critical analysis essay, Long Day s Journey into Night: The Seen and the
Unseen, I can find that her views on the motives of the Tyrones are parallel to mine. The opening
sentence of her essay is, The characters in Long Day s Journey into Night find themselves creating
a new kind of religion, in which they experience, not sin without guilt, but guilt without sin the
habit of belief without its antecedent [preceding event] (Fleche). In other words, the characters are
recognizing the painfulness of their pasts, no matter how significant the event was. Each of the
four family members, Edmund, James, James Jr., and Mary Tyrone, are dealing with their own
painful disclosures, ranging from Mary s morphine addiction relapse to Edmund s realization that
he has tuberculosis and must enter a sanatorium. These revelations add up over time and it seems
as if the family is going to fall apart because of doubts and lack of remedies for their struggles.
In a typical story of success and happiness, a certain person or group starts off being lost or faced
with a challenge. Then, they face the challenge, break through it, and finally find themselves on a
path to a new life. Long Day s Journey Into Night, however, is quite the opposite. Fleche says, If it
were possible to say that something could be more lost, Long Day s Journey into Night could be
described as a play in which what is lost in the beginning becomes progressively, hopelessly,
implacably lost (Fleche).

Population Growth in South Florida and Salt Water Intrusion
Introduction
Rapid population growth in South Florida has significantly increased the demand for water and the
strain on the fresh groundwater supplies has triggered more saltwater intrusion to the Biscayne
aquifer. Saltwater intrusion has been one the main contaminant that continues to endanger the
Biscayne aquifer. It has occurred as a result of the followings: the over pumping by wells, the
construction of drainage canals, and the lowering of the water table by drought. Ongoing efforts by
South Florida water agencies to protect the aquifer from saltwater intrusion include groundwater
monitoring, water management and conservation.
The Biscayne Aquifer
An aquifer is defined as underground layers of rock saturated with water that can be brought to
the surface through natural springs or by pumping. Named after Biscayne Bay, the Biscayne
aquifer is a coastal, unconfined aquifer because its top portion is the water table and it merges
with the floor of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Underlies an area of approximately 4000
square miles, the Biscayne aquifer s maps out from the southern tip of the state northwest along a
wavy line to south Palm Beach County. The cross section of the aquifer resembles a wedge and
its gets deeper as it gets closer to the eastern coast. The Biscayne aquifer is the primary source of
freshwater to most of South Florida (Dade, Broward and part of Palm Beach counties).
Furthermore, water from the aquifer is pumped through pipeline to the

Essay about Illegal Aliens Have the Right to Healthcare
Everyday people are sent to the hospital. Not only are they in fear of losing their life but also in
fear of being in debt due to the prices of health care treatment they need. But what if this patient
happens to be an illegal alien? What if the patient has a foreign illness that needs to be cured so it
does not spread? Should healthcare providers continue to provide (s) he with treatment even if they
cannot pay? Or should illegal aliens be treated just like any other patients by having a right to

What the illegal aliens want are jobs that will potentially give them a higher wage in comparison to
the country they came from. To effectively weigh whether providing health care to immigrants
should be considered a right or privilege, one would have to consider how much they contribute to
economic growth. A Pew study from last year showed that undocumented immigrants add 600,000
to 700,000 new consumers to the economy every year. Since consumption makes up 70 percent of
economic activity in the U.S., this is important (and of course, more consumption means more sales
tax revenue). Immigration is also expected to account for one forth of the Census Bureau s
estimated labor force growth through 2012. Some economic estimates gauge that undocumented
immigrants contribute $22 billion, in total, to the economy each year a number that would increase
if they were given the opportunity to become legal (Karvounis, 2007). This evidence suggests that
illegal aliens are actually giving back to the nation by doing all of the dirty, low income jobs and
are only using approximately $11 billion in health care and they are contributing about $22 billion a
year to the economy. Although these illegals only using half of what they give, they contribute
more then what they use.

Hamlet s Descent Back Into Madness In Hamlet
William Shakespeare s Hamlet is a complex text that details the failing mental status of a young
prince. Hamlet s antic disposition is all part of a diluted plot to exact revenge of Claudius and shifts
in severity based on the characters Hamlet is surrounded by. The clinical definition of insanity
explains that the person suffering cannot distinguish between fantasy and reality. Given the fact
Hamletmanipulated his illness he cannot be ruled insane as he was mentally aware of his reality

The Security Environment That Is Shaping The Joint Force...
The security environment that is shaping the Joint Force 2025 (JF25) is incredibly complex and
rapidly evolving. Challengers to security and stability include two aggressive competing powers
(China and Russia), two nuclear capable regional hegemons (North Korea and Iran), and a
persistent threat of terrorism to the homeland. The global commons are contested and access to the
space and cyber domains are no longer guaranteed. Fiscal constraints limit the available means for
the Joint Force (JF) to meet these challenges and therefore increases risk to accomplishing the
national militaryobjectives.
Despite the complexity of this environment and fiscal austerity, the JF25 must protect our Nation
and win our wars. It must deter and defeat state adversaries, disrupt and defeat terrorist
organizations, and strengthen the global network of allies and partners. The prioritized capabilities
required for Joint Force 2025 are linked to the imperatives of securing the homeland and
maintaining strategic agility. This essay discusses general attributes of the JF, specific capability
requirements by service, and the risk associated with focusing the rebalance on these two
imperatives.
Strategic guidance on the general attributes of JF25 is provided in the Quadrennial Defense

How Does Brecht Make A Form Of Theatre
In this essay I will be discussing the theatrical style of Brecht and how he created his own form of
theatre and I will be using his play Mother Courage and Her Children to back up the innovation and
techniques that Brecht used during his career.
Mother Courage and Her Children is set in the 30 year s war and follows Mother Courage
making a living by selling supplies from her wagon to armies that they encounter. Trying to make
a living for herself and her family. The focus is on the conflict that occurs between war
profiteering and maintaining a family. Her children end up dying due to the struggle of trying to
live like a family and trying to survive the war. Brecht wanted to show audiences that if families are
going to survive they need to understand that capitalism needs to go. (Theatre Histories:2010)
Although Brecht was a Marxist he did take interest into a form of theatre that differed from socialist
realism, that was brought upon by Stalin s culture. When Brecht had written Mother Courage and

Personal Note On Sexual Violence

Assignment Turnitin Week 3
Identify and briefly describe the two specific types of individual, couple, and/or family crisis
situations you have selected.
In the assignment application, I have identified partner violence and lethality as the two types of
crisis situations to discuss about. Partner violence may occur in three different forms. First,
Physical violence which involves intentional use of physical force with the aim of causing harm,
injury, disability or death. Physical violence may also involve activities such as biting, slapping,
choking, punching, burning, using a weapon to inflict pain, shoving, throwing as well as using
restrains on one body. Secondly, Sexual violence which generally refers to involuntary sexual
act in which a person is physically compelled or coerced to engage against their will. This
violence does no necessary require sexual intimacy and can occur between same sex couples and
heterosexual couples (Baldry Winkel, 2008). This may occur in three main ways: By use of
excessive physical force to compel an individual to engage into a sexual act which is contrary to his
or her will, forcible sexual act to a victim who is unable to resist or understand the nature of the
situation in order communicate his /her unwillingness to engage in the sexual act and finally the
abusive sexual contact (Garcia McManimon, 2010). Thirdly,

Reactions And Reactions Of Redox Reactions
Introduction:
Without the millions of chemical reactions that occur every day, life would be completely different.
An important class of common reactions includes those which involve the simultaneous transfer of
electrons between chemicals, commonly referred to as redox reactions or oxidation reduction
reactions. Redox reactions are whole reactions composed of two different half reactions known as
oxidation (where electrons are lost) and reduction (where electrons are gained) (Chemguide, 2013).
When there is an increase in the oxidation state, the reaction is oxidation; when there is a decrease,
it is reduction. Oxidation cannot possibly occur without an affiliated reduction, and vice versa.
Redox reactions are notated as such:
Cu(s) пѓ Cu2+ + 2e
In the half reaction above, a copper ion (with a plus 2 charge) is formed from the oxidation of
solid copper (with no charge). The e in the equation is an electron which is free to reduce other
chemical atoms, such as in the half reaction:
2Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ 2Ag(s)
Two electrons are added to the two silver ions in this half reaction, in order to produce a solid
silver. These two half reactions can be combined to form a redox equation as follows:

All The King s Men By Robert Penn Warren
Robert Penn Warren wrote All the King s Men to showcase the reality of political life in early
twentieth century. The reader is introduced to the narrator Jack Burden, a young political
muckraker for Willie Stark, governor of an unnamed Southern state in the 1930s. The novel is
about Willie s rise to importance and transformation from a modest lawyer to a fiery manipulator
who uses corrupt means in order to do well for the poor crowds of his state. It is also the story of
Willie s downfall and the complicated personal story of Jack as the latter comes to realize his
responsibility for the world around him. The insight that this book gives on politician life s can
compare and contrast history events thought the different themes like visions of America, alcohol,
politics, and education.
To begin, the theme of the visions of America is used to compare and constant history events. The
U.S. s history of slavery continues to trouble generations of Americans and impacts Americans
view of themselves. The book questions how a hopeful vision of America is possible with such a
bad past. For all the potential risks and outcomes of truth telling, only truth can give us hope for a
great future of America. By revealing issues dealing with the environment, education, labor,
welfare, football, politics, journalism, and the secrets of the South, interrogates American s
practices and hopes to find a way to a better vision of America. Anne backs up this theme when she
say, I told

National Collegiate Athletic Association
Dr. Mark A. Emmert, since October of 2010 you have been the president of a great organization
by the name of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or NCAA for short. Prior to being the
president for the NCAA, it is known that you have made a great impact on the success of various
well known universities. While at the University of Washington, the university was second in
standings among all public and private institutions in research funding with $1 billion in grants and
contracts per year. With your experience in the financial field, you hold the potential to make the
NCAA a better organization for its most important habitants, the players. I believe that you, Dr.
Emmert, hold the key to better conditions for college athletes across the United States of America.
(Jcoram) Others that should join the cause are university presidents, athletic departments, sport
commissioners, and coaches as well. When it comes to the world of sports, all sports, many topics
come into debate when discussing the day to day issues facing athletes and their chosen careers.
Many concerns with athletes are usually two sided and are black and white arguments without
much gray area in between. Most of these issues with sport revolve around the athletes who play
them. Such problems that sports spectators argue about are the leagues and athletes choices and if
they are beneficiary to the sport that they consume. Many athletes of all levels make great sacrifices
for the sport that they play,

Business Law Final Exam. Kellogg Business School
Law and Corporate Managers Prof. Larry Franklin
Question Two A. (i) For refusal
In order to honor the LC, the Seller has to comply exactly with the terms of the letter of credit.
There are numerous typo errors in the LC and misspellings of the destination port and the Seller
name, hence only a waiver of the discrepancies from JFTC will enable Bank of China to pay the
Seller. As long as the waiver is not received, the BOC cannot make any payments. BOC has to
state why it is not going to pay. The seller reviewed the LC before the shipment of goods, so it is
his mistake that he didn t point out the discrepancies.
(ii) Against refusal
Since the LC is irrevocable, then JFTC can t make any modifications or cancellation without the ...

(ii) The five subsequent investors
IF the venture will be established as a LP, then the investors could limit their liability up to the
amount of their investment, therefore they will have one level of tax (they will not pay corporate
tax). However, the return on their investment is subject to the performance of the LP and the profits
that derive from it.
In case of corporation, the investors could invest their investment as shareholders with limited
liability. But they will have to pay two levels of taxes. In re the fixed return on the investment, they
could provide a loan to the corporation with a fixed rate of interest that will be guaranteed by the
company. (iii) The CEO manager
Bernie will prefer to act as a CEO in a Corporation with a board of directors that will direct him
and will borne the direct responsibility for the acts of the corporation. He will also have the
responsibility for the acts of the corporation. In order to attract Bernie to join the business, it is
likely to offer him shares or options to purchase the shares of the corporation. This is not possible
under a LP.
B.I will recommend Jameson to choose Corporation for the following reasons: 1. He is not
investing money and he wants to be owner and involved in the business. The best for him is to be
a shareholder of the company and a director. His tax considerations in this case are not relevant. So
there is no advantage in LP.

Symbols In The Scarlet Ibis
Symbolism Used In the Scarlet Ibis The book The Scarlet Ibis is about a little boy named
Doodle who is physically weak and his older Brother is ashamed of that. Throughout the story
Doodles older Brother pushes him to his limits to teach how to walk, run, and swim so that he
will be ready for school the following year. But one day Doodles Brother pushes him a little too
far, causing him to die. In the book The Scarlet Ibissymbolism is used to indicate at the death of
Doodle specifically the color red, the changes in weather, and the death of nature around them. For
example, when they described things as red or bleeding that implied that something bad was going
to happen. You also know something bad is about to happen when the weather

What is your favorite activity out of school? Would you continue to do that activity, even if you
had a disease that could stop you? Earvin Magic Johnson was a famous basketball player, who
went to the Olympics in 1992 in Barcelona, Spain, and brought America the Gold Medal for
Basketball games, even though he had dyslexia and HIV s, which he was diagnosed in 1991. In
Earvin Magic Johnson s early life, he had six brothers. His father worked the day shift at an auto
factory, and hauled trash at night for extra money. Magic Jonson had several jobs, and many of
them were helping his father at his work or at the house , but Magic Johnson s main priority was

Literary Analysis Of C. S. LewisThat Hideous Strength
Julie Overton
Professor Harding
ENGL 215 013
25 September 2017
Literary Analysis
The element of fog has been long recognized as a major symbol in That Hideous Strength by C.S.
Lewis. Most scholars view the fog as a symbol of Mark feeling trapped (Cheaney) but in addition to
that, it is believed that the fog is symbolizing a dark period of time where the town of Edgestow is
being overtaken. The fog that begins to cover Edgestow symbolizes much more than just a thick
cloud of tiny water droplets suspended in the atmosphere. The fog, made of water, is a kind of
darkness which can be felt.
The fellows of Bracton College are debating the sale of a portion of college land to the National
Institute for Co Ordinated Experiments, or N.I.C.E. The most controversial business before the
College Meeting was the question of selling Bragdon Wood. The purchaser was the N.I.C.E, a cult
like group that has hopes of forming complete human control over nature, including the face of the
Earth and the human body itself. They wanted a site for the building which would worthily house
this remarkable organization (Lewis). The sale is controversial since the land in question is an
ancient woodland believed to be the resting place of Merlin. In Chapter 6, the people associated
with N.I.C.E reinforce the idea that the institute is a single personality rather than a body made up
of individuals. Once again, it is made clear that you are not to question anything.
During this time, a dense fog begins to cover Edgestow. Lewis depicts that the fog is thick, and
stays for days. As N.I.C.E begins its diversion of the Wynd River, it becomes polluted. The
people of Edgestow are enraged at the college for allowing the construction to begin. During this
time, Bracton is divided. Colleagues are being mobbed, prices are going up in town, and all of
the hotels are booked. The town which was once known for being small and quaint is quickly
becoming outgrown due to the large amount of traffic. Nearly all the hotels in the town had passed
into the hands of the Institute, so that a man could no longer drink with a friend in his accustomed
bar; that familiar shops were crowded with strangers who seemed to have plenty of money, and that
the prices

Green Cities As A Pollution To The Green City
The urbanization which has been growing rapidly in the early twenty first century is going along
with the issues related to jobs, housing, transportation, and the polluted environment within urban
areas. In order to deal with those issues, green cities has been given as a great solution. Green city
is a program of building smart constructions and technologies that are friendly with the environment
, and establishing the smart growth policies to resolve the economic, social, and as well as
environmental issues in the city. There are some opinions claimed that green cities should not be
developed due to the high cost and negative environmental effects. Despite those opposing opinions,
green city would still be an effective program for the sustainabilityof the city by creating more
jobs, reducing traffic congestion, and protecting the environment. While the cities officials are
considering whether they should establish the policies of building green cities, there are some
opinions that oppose the program. For example, a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, Randal O
Toole, claims that public transportation especially the rail transit has some limitations since it
requires high cost of making rail cars to make sure they are safe and the high cost of building more
rail lines. Therefore, it would be hard for a city to develop the public transportation system if it
cannot afford the funding. Another problem comes with the green cities is that it might cause some
negative effects

Evaluation Methods For Best Electronics
After evaluating Best Electronics website using three different usability evaluation methods which
are observations, questionnaires and heuristics evaluation.
These usability evaluation methods allowed us to recognize the major flaws of the website, also
assisted to identify the key features and aspects of the website which have to be improved.
The first aspect needs to be changed within the website is the colors and the font size used
throughout the entire website. Based on the heuristics evaluation we performed, the font size used
in the website is big, which makes reading the content uncomfortable, also there are many colors
used in the website without any professionalism , which led to make the website unattractive, also
the color ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is one of the biggest flaws of the website, for this reason it is essential to create enough space
between the paragraphs and images so the viewer has space to breathe, minimize the paragraphs
size of the content, divide large blocks of information into more manageable groups where natural
and appropriate, avoid content clutter especially on the homepage, present information in more
precise and ordered way to minimize the scrolling required, and finally, organize the content with
respect to the principles of contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity. All these steps must be
taken to accomplish three of our usability goals (effective home page, Clarity of the interface,
Motivating website), as well as to meet two of the Windows Interface Guidelines, aesthetics and
simplicity .
Another aspect is the lack of menu, quick links and search engine, based on our observations,
users were not able to find different kinds of information they were looking for, and the reason
for that is because the website does not offer any menu or quick links to allow users to navigate
quickly, additionally, the website does not have a search engine which allows users to find
products quickly, so one goal when redesigning the website is to build a main menu, and

Common Propositional Argument Evaluation
On pages 164 175, we learn over the 8 common propositional argument evaluations. Every
argument must be valid in order to pass the Proper Form Test. In the cases of fallacies, not every
premise will support the conclusion making that argument invalid. The first argument we see is
Denying the Disjunct, which involves two statements, in two forms, which can be explained
through four forms. The first form is If S1 or S2, not S1, therefore S2 (pg. 164). The second form
is If S1 or S2, Tf S1 (pg.164). This means that if the premise denies the disjunct, then the conclusion
is false. We see this form because a disjunct is when a premise denies the conclusion. The second
argumentwe see is the Fallacy of Affirming the inclusive Disjunct,... Show more content on

If a disjunction is false, because of the alternatives presented then it is considered a false
dichotomy. (pg.168). We are now presented with Affirming the Antecedent, whose form is If S1,
then S2, S1, tf, S2 (Pg.170). This is shown because if the first statement affirms or supports the
second statement, then it affirms the antecedent. The statements do not contradict or deny each
other. The next argument we see is the Fallacy: Denying the antecedent, which is when premise is
conditional, but it denies the antecedent. The antecedent is the part of the statement we learned
through facts of background knowledge, but if S1 denies S2, then the argument as a whole is
invalid (pg.172). Denying the Consequent is not a fallacy, but it occurs when one premise is
conditional, but it denies the consequent. Because the consequent is denied, then we know that the
conclusion is denied as well. (pg.173). The form is If S1, then S2, not S2, therefore, not S1.
(pg.173) We know this through the proper form and true premise test, because the form indicates
that it is invalid and the premises are false, so it fails the true premise test. The last argument we
see is Tri Conditional. This argument differs from the other arguments, because we are now using
three statements to confirm if the premise are true. The form is If S1, then S2, If S2, then S3,
therefore If S1,

Explain How To Apply Makeup Essay
There are many different ways to apply makeup. There is really no correct way to do it. These
are the steps that I go through when I apply my makeup. It all depends on how you like to apply
your makeup and what is easiest for you. The first step to having perfect looking makeup is to get
out all the tools and products you will be using. For most people the products will include
concealer, foundation, setting powder, bronzer, highlighter, eyeliner and mascara. The variety of
tools you use depends on what you are comfortable using. Some of these tools may include
different brushes, a beauty blender, your fingers and an eyelash curler. The next step is applying
and blending out concealer in the places you need more coverage. Then you dot

Pursuit Of Happyness Book And Movie Comparison
In The Pursuit of Happyness, both the movie and the story had to do with Christopher Gardner s
struggles through his life to get a well paying job while he tries to take care of his young son. The
director, Gabriele Muccino, made some choices that correlated pretty well with some of the events
that happened in the story. For example, in both the film and and the real life story, according to
Christophers Biography Christopher Gardner never knew his father, and lived with his beloved
mother, Bettye Jean. As a result of this, when Christopher Gardner had his own child with his wife
before she left him, he wanted to raise his son without putting him through what he experienced as
a child. As Christopher Garner was trying to be a good father... Show more content on

An example of a similarity are that his wife took his son away from Christopher Garner for short
period of time before Christopher had his son. Furthermore, as mentioned before, Chris Gardner
grew up without a father and lived with his single mother. The reason Chris Gardner didn t have
a dad in his life is kept the same pretty much in both the movie and the true story. In both the
movie and the actual event, Chris Gardiner didn t have a father in his life because his father was
abusive to him(Christopher Gardiner Biography) In addition, Christopher promised his young
self that when he had his own kids, he was not going to mistreat them and that he was always
going to be there and would not go anywhere and leave them. Another similarities between the
movie and the real event was when Gardeners Girlfriend left him and their son. Gardiner and his
girlfriend had started to run out of money to do anything, so instead of helping she went for the
door and left. She started to visit them one in a blue moon but eventually just stopped coming. He
soon moved in with Jackie after leaving his wife, and was blessed with a baby boy, Christopher

  • 2. Loss Of Innocence In Eugenia Collier s Marigolds In Eugenia Collier s short story, Marigolds, the loss of innocence is described with the protagonist s claim that innocence involves an unseeing acceptance of things at face value, an ignorance of the area below the surface (Collier 6). Similarly, all members of society must eventually make the transition from youthful children to mature adolescents. Recently, however, the rate at which children mature has increased rapidly, due to the increasing influence of the media and society on individual lives. The loss of innocence is caused by developing awareness of the suffering, danger, and pain encountered in life, as shown through Lois Lowry s novel, The Giver; Jason Yu s poem, Tears; and Nicoletta Ceccoli s painting, Love will tear us... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yu writes that a young 5 year old girl weeps in a city without care./Without anyone to save her from her sins [...], exposed to beatings, not knowing that such behavior is normal (Yu Lines 7 8). Due to the child s very young age, readers can assume that her loss of innocence must have been influenced by external pressures from the media and society. As this child weeps in the middle of an ignorant city of people, she feels conflicted because of her inability to define reality; she is aware of the presence of dangers in the world, but is unable to let go of her childhood memories involving fun and happiness. The young child now understands the concept of no magic, and that the fairytale is dead [...] [Similarly,] this princess knows nothing of childhood./But rather the bitter sorrows of the darkened morrow (Yu Lines 16 18). Although she understands the concept of no magic (Yu Line 16), this girl holds on to the last shred of hope that she has to keep her childhood memories alive. By writing that the girl knows the bitter sorrows of the darkened morrow (Yu Line 18), Yu contrasts the girl s memories with the reality around her, showing the girl s naiveness to the realities of the world. Finally, as the young child bleeds inside as though all was lost, [she looks like a] five year old in a world of black ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the story the setting is a small, what looks to be an inspiring community with a population of around three hundred people. Jackson paints a picture of a community where he said, flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green. (1) . Jackson wants the audience to believe that the community was ordinary and innocent, but ends with a dramatic and unnecessary stoning. The three legged stool that the black box sits upon represents the Trinity. Each segment represents God the father, God the son, and the Holy Spirit. The wooden stool that the black box of evil sits upon, is ironic because the Trinity represents purity and perfectness, but the black box of death represents sin and evil. This is very important because they are trying to justify their stoning with religion to support the violence that will be committed, thinking that it s is justifiable to stone someone to death because of religious views or ideas, and that God would be ok with the community sacrificing innocent people. Although the villagers had forgotten the ritual and lost the original black box, they still remembered to use stones. It is in the genre of heavy metal and he picked that song to help wake him up since he s a heavy sleeper. The tempo of the music was fast and the dynamics of this song was forte. The main contributor to the dynamics is the vocalist who just screams the majority of the song. The combination of loud and fast musiccreated an upbeat mood which makes us feel like jumping out of bed every morning. For the meter, there were four beats in a measure, and I found it by listening for the downbeat which was the combination of the bass, the bass drum, and loud electric guitar on the first beat of every measure. I don t particularly like this genre of music and listening to it makes me feel very uncomfortable because to me it s very chaotic and not it s not peaceful enough. It can be assumed that responsible sourcing can be a very crucial factor that contributes towards construction and civil engineering as concrete is used in almost all projects. This is why it is paramount to produce this concrete from trusted sources. Hence 89% of all concrete in 2012 was certified to BES 6001 and of the production tonnage certified, 99% has achieved Very Good or Excellent performance rating. As sustainability is a key world issue now, it is important to keep in mind where companies produce their resources. If concrete was not responsibly sourced then a lot of unwanted issues could arise. For example it could lead to the concrete not being of the same quality as a responsibly sourced one. Also it may increase the carbon footprint and cause global warming if responsibly sourcing was avoided to keep costs low. Although the short term effects of using cheap concrete is good the long term effects of responsibly sourced concrete outweighs this. In their analysis Georgopoulos and Minson (2014, p. 129) say, The UK concrete industry is supporting the BES 6001 as it is the most comprehensive standard available and measures the whole infrastructure of the supply chain . I thought the Judge and everyone on the team was just out to get me. I didn t know who I was because I built my life on lies. I never aspired to anything great. Being in Drug Court this long has shown me that the Judge and the Drug Court team really do care about each and every one of us personally. I can see that the Drug Court team cares and always has time for me no matter what, to give me so much encouragement. It wasn t until I was in Drug Court that my life changed and I believe that I was headed for a prison sentence which that didn t matter to me at the time. Drug Court showed that they believe in us, that we are okay, and they really do care about us to take the time to help us. It has taught me to be more of a responsible person. Going to jail was honestly one of the best things that ever happened to me and I needed to be in there. I no longer wanted to be everyone s burden and the family disappointment. I have realized what all I have put my mom through and I am sorry for all the wrong I ve done, the sleepless nights, the broken promises, and the stealing of money. I m sorry for the embarrassment I ve caused. I m sorry for all of the pain, arguments and stress. I want my mom understand that I never intended to hurt her. Me wanting to changeis why I changed and I changed everything. Sand Bagging involves failing to open accounts by customers at their requested date, instead accumulating accounts to open in the next sales period to inflate profits. Another practice was called Pinning which was creating pin numbers without customer s authorization, and attaching them to credit cards. Then employees would impersonate customers on Wells Fargo s computers and use these pin numbers to create online banking and bills for customers. Finally, a practice called bundling was done where Wells Fargo employees would mislead customers saying that certain banking products were only available in bundles which forced customers to add more products than they wanted. So, one wonders, how could this have happened? Why did high expectations of sales lead to unethical, almost criminal behaviour? This is tied to Goal Setting theory. Goal setting theory, created by Edwin Locke, states that employees are motivated by clear goals, and appropriate feedback. Individuals that were given clear, specific and difficult goals had greater performance than individuals given general and easy goals. This quote applies to the Great Depression of 1929 and the Great Recession of 2008. There are many similarities between the two, like the causes, the actual events, and the aftermaths. Several factors led to the Great Depression, which were the following: overproduction by business and agriculture, unequal distribution of wealth, Americans buying less, and finally, the stock market crash of 1929. The Great Recession also had similar factors leading to it, like the housing bubble burst and less consumer spending. If the stock prices kept rising, this system would work well, but if the prices fell, people could not pay the loan back. Near the end of the 1929 year, prices were too high, so people wanted to sell their stocks. They thought the prices would lower soon. Stock prices did go lower and people were not buying. They all wanted to sell their stocks. Prices went even lower on October 29, where 16 million stocks were sold. This caused the collapse of the market. Similarly, the Great Recession was due to consumer spending cutbacks and a drop in demand for the establishment of new housing. In the two decades previous to 2008, the American growth rate was very high. Their household needs also became very high, which made demand increase. Spending was at a high. However personal income was decreased. The consumers then had to borrow money from the banks. This gave the consumers debt. So, when the house prices rose, banks stopped loaning money to people and the people decreased their spending. This happened because the people were not able to pay the banks back. People also cut back on buying or making new houses, so household demand dropped. Many say that this decrease caused the Great Recession. Pleasant Company later came out with American Girl in 1986 which were different from Barbie and typically came with a book. The books usually captured the past in a romanticized manor and but also had some very empowering messages for girls which was a step in the right direction. Then Bratz in 2001 made by MGA Entertainment which had an entirely new take on gender role orientation. Research presented by Karniol, Stuemler Cohen, and Lahav Gur (2012) suggest that girls gender role orientations have an impact on which doll they prefer. The study they conducted pertained only to younger girls who explained their preference as to why they might choose a Bratz doll over a Barbie doll or why they might not even have a preference at all and how their perception of gender coincides with their choices. Use Of Biodiesel Over Petroleum Diesel 1.0 Thesis: The use of biodiesel over petroleum diesel can be proven be easier to make, more energy efficient and a greener way to run you vehicle. 2.1 Argument 1: Process The use of biodiesel over the more common petroleum diesel has become a more frequent sight as people strive for an easier and more environmental beneficial way to run their vehicle with only small modifications needed. Unlike diesel which uses crude oil, biodiesel is made by converting oils such as waste vegetable oils to bio diesel. Diagram 1: Waste oil As can be seen in the comparison matrix like conventional petrol, biodiesel is also made up of long chains of hydrogen and carbon atoms, though as can be seen in diagram 1 the oils used to create biodiesel are slightly different in having three chains of these fatty acids being connected by a backbone of glycerine. To be able to use these oils for fuel the glycerine backbone has to be removed, which is done through a process called transesterification. Equation 1: transesterification process The transesterification process uses alcohols such as methanol which is seen in equation 1 to break the bonds between the fatty acid chains and the glycerol backbone. Once the glycerol bonds have been broken away from the fatty acid chain, they are then replaced by methoxy groups from the methanol used in the process. Formation of the Bakken The Bakken Formation is a Late Devonian to Early Mississippian formation within the Williston Basin as seen below in Figure 1. To understand the process that formed the Bakken it is necessary to understand the formation of the Williston Basin as a whole. Figure 1 represents the stratigraphy of the Williston Basin. The Bakken Source Rock can be seen between the Devonian and the Mississippian contacts in this diagram. This figure also shows that the Williston Basin began subsiding in the Late Cambrian and continued to subside since then (Peterson, 1995). Also seen in Figure 1 is the Nesson Anicline that ... Critical Analysis Of Long Day s Journey Into Night In Anne Fleche s critical analysis essay, Long Day s Journey into Night: The Seen and the Unseen, I can find that her views on the motives of the Tyrones are parallel to mine. The opening sentence of her essay is, The characters in Long Day s Journey into Night find themselves creating a new kind of religion, in which they experience, not sin without guilt, but guilt without sin the habit of belief without its antecedent [preceding event] (Fleche). In other words, the characters are recognizing the painfulness of their pasts, no matter how significant the event was. Each of the four family members, Edmund, James, James Jr., and Mary Tyrone, are dealing with their own painful disclosures, ranging from Mary s morphine addiction relapse to Edmund s realization that he has tuberculosis and must enter a sanatorium. These revelations add up over time and it seems as if the family is going to fall apart because of doubts and lack of remedies for their struggles. In a typical story of success and happiness, a certain person or group starts off being lost or faced with a challenge. Then, they face the challenge, break through it, and finally find themselves on a path to a new life. Long Day s Journey Into Night, however, is quite the opposite. Saltwater intrusion has been one the main contaminant that continues to endanger the Biscayne aquifer. It has occurred as a result of the followings: the over pumping by wells, the construction of drainage canals, and the lowering of the water table by drought. Ongoing efforts by South Florida water agencies to protect the aquifer from saltwater intrusion include groundwater monitoring, water management and conservation. The Biscayne Aquifer An aquifer is defined as underground layers of rock saturated with water that can be brought to the surface through natural springs or by pumping. Named after Biscayne Bay, the Biscayne aquifer is a coastal, unconfined aquifer because its top portion is the water table and it merges with the floor of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. What the illegal aliens want are jobs that will potentially give them a higher wage in comparison to the country they came from. To effectively weigh whether providing health care to immigrants should be considered a right or privilege, one would have to consider how much they contribute to economic growth. A Pew study from last year showed that undocumented immigrants add 600,000 to 700,000 new consumers to the economy every year. Since consumption makes up 70 percent of economic activity in the U.S., this is important (and of course, more consumption means more sales tax revenue). Immigration is also expected to account for one forth of the Census Bureau s estimated labor force growth through 2012. Some economic estimates gauge that undocumented immigrants contribute $22 billion, in total, to the economy each year a number that would increase if they were given the opportunity to become legal (Karvounis, 2007). This evidence suggests that illegal aliens are actually giving back to the nation by doing all of the dirty, low income jobs and are only using approximately $11 billion in health care and they are contributing about $22 billion a year to the economy. How Does Brecht Make A Form Of Theatre In this essay I will be discussing the theatrical style of Brecht and how he created his own form of theatre and I will be using his play Mother Courage and Her Children to back up the innovation and techniques that Brecht used during his career. Mother Courage and Her Children is set in the 30 year s war and follows Mother Courage making a living by selling supplies from her wagon to armies that they encounter. • 38. Reactions And Reactions Of Redox Reactions Introduction: Without the millions of chemical reactions that occur every day, life would be completely different. An important class of common reactions includes those which involve the simultaneous transfer of electrons between chemicals, commonly referred to as redox reactions or oxidation reduction reactions. Redox reactions are whole reactions composed of two different half reactions known as oxidation (where electrons are lost) and reduction (where electrons are gained) (Chemguide, 2013). When there is an increase in the oxidation state, the reaction is oxidation; when there is a decrease, it is reduction. Oxidation cannot possibly occur without an affiliated reduction, and vice versa. Redox reactions are notated as such: Cu(s) пѓ Cu2+ + 2e In the half reaction above, a copper ion (with a plus 2 charge) is formed from the oxidation of solid copper (with no charge). The e in the equation is an electron which is free to reduce other chemical atoms, such as in the half reaction: 2Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ 2Ag(s) Two electrons are added to the two silver ions in this half reaction, in order to produce a solid silver. These two half reactions can be combined to form a redox equation as follows: Cu(s) пѓ Cu2+(aq) + 2e 2 Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ 2Ag(s) Cu(s) + 2Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ Cu2+(aq) + 2Ag(s) + 2e OR Cu(s) + 2Ag+(aq) пѓ Cu2+(aq) + 2Ag(s) A ... There are numerous typo errors in the LC and misspellings of the destination port and the Seller name, hence only a waiver of the discrepancies from JFTC will enable Bank of China to pay the Seller. As long as the waiver is not received, the BOC cannot make any payments. BOC has to state why it is not going to pay. The seller reviewed the LC before the shipment of goods, so it is his mistake that he didn t point out the discrepancies. (ii) The five subsequent investors IF the venture will be established as a LP, then the investors could limit their liability up to the amount of their investment, therefore they will have one level of tax (they will not pay corporate tax). However, the return on their investment is subject to the performance of the LP and the profits that derive from it. In case of corporation, the investors could invest their investment as shareholders with limited liability. But they will have to pay two levels of taxes. In re the fixed return on the investment, they could provide a loan to the corporation with a fixed rate of interest that will be guaranteed by the company. (iii) The CEO manager Bernie will prefer to act as a CEO in a Corporation with a board of directors that will direct him and will borne the direct responsibility for the acts of the corporation. He will also have the responsibility for the acts of the corporation. In order to attract Bernie to join the business, it is likely to offer him shares or options to purchase the shares of the corporation. This is not possible under a LP. B.I will recommend Jameson to choose Corporation for the following reasons: 1. He is not investing money and he wants to be owner and involved in the business. The best for him is to be a shareholder of the company and a director. His tax considerations in this case are not relevant. So there is no advantage in LP. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Literary Analysis Of C. S. LewisThat Hideous Strength Julie Overton Professor Harding ENGL 215 013 25 September 2017 Literary Analysis The element of fog has been long recognized as a major symbol in That Hideous Strength by C.S. Lewis. Most scholars view the fog as a symbol of Mark feeling trapped (Cheaney) but in addition to that, it is believed that the fog is symbolizing a dark period of time where the town of Edgestow is being overtaken. The fog that begins to cover Edgestow symbolizes much more than just a thick cloud of tiny water droplets suspended in the atmosphere. The fog, made of water, is a kind of darkness which can be felt. The fellows of Bracton College are debating the sale of a portion of college land to the National Institute for Co Ordinated Experiments, or N.I.C.E. The most controversial business before the College Meeting was the question of selling Bragdon Wood. The purchaser was the N.I.C.E, a cult like group that has hopes of forming complete human control over nature, including the face of the Earth and the human body itself. They wanted a site for the building which would worthily house this remarkable organization (Lewis). The sale is controversial since the land in question is an ancient woodland believed to be the resting place of Merlin. In Chapter 6, the people associated with N.I.C.E reinforce the idea that the institute is a single personality rather than a body made up of individuals. Once again, it is made clear that you are not to question anything. During this time, a dense fog begins to cover Edgestow. Lewis depicts that the fog is thick, and stays for days. As N.I.C.E begins its diversion of the Wynd River, it becomes polluted. The people of Edgestow are enraged at the college for allowing the construction to begin. During this time, Bracton is divided. Colleagues are being mobbed, prices are going up in town, and all of the hotels are booked. The town which was once known for being small and quaint is quickly becoming outgrown due to the large amount of traffic. Nearly all the hotels in the town had passed into the hands of the Institute, so that a man could no longer drink with a friend in his accustomed bar; that familiar shops were crowded with strangers who seemed to have plenty of money, and that the prices ... • 46. Green Cities As A Pollution To The Green City The urbanization which has been growing rapidly in the early twenty first century is going along with the issues related to jobs, housing, transportation, and the polluted environment within urban areas. In order to deal with those issues, green cities has been given as a great solution. Green city is a program of building smart constructions and technologies that are friendly with the environment , and establishing the smart growth policies to resolve the economic, social, and as well as environmental issues in the city. There are some opinions claimed that green cities should not be developed due to the high cost and negative environmental effects. Despite those opposing opinions, green city would still be an effective program for the sustainabilityof the city by creating more jobs, reducing traffic congestion, and protecting the environment. While the cities officials are considering whether they should establish the policies of building green cities, there are some opinions that oppose the program. For example, a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, Randal O Toole, claims that public transportation especially the rail transit has some limitations since it requires high cost of making rail cars to make sure they are safe and the high cost of building more rail lines. Therefore, it would be hard for a city to develop the public transportation system if it cannot afford the funding. Another problem comes with the green cities is that it might cause some negative effects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Common Propositional Argument Evaluation On pages 164 175, we learn over the 8 common propositional argument evaluations. Every argument must be valid in order to pass the Proper Form Test. In the cases of fallacies, not every premise will support the conclusion making that argument invalid. The first argument we see is Denying the Disjunct, which involves two statements, in two forms, which can be explained through four forms. The first form is If S1 or S2, not S1, therefore S2 (pg. 164). The second form is If S1 or S2, Tf S1 (pg.164). This means that if the premise denies the disjunct, then the conclusion is false. We see this form because a disjunct is when a premise denies the conclusion. The second argumentwe see is the Fallacy of Affirming the inclusive Disjunct,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a disjunction is false, because of the alternatives presented then it is considered a false dichotomy. (pg.168). We are now presented with Affirming the Antecedent, whose form is If S1, then S2, S1, tf, S2 (Pg.170). This is shown because if the first statement affirms or supports the second statement, then it affirms the antecedent. The statements do not contradict or deny each other. The next argument we see is the Fallacy: Denying the antecedent, which is when premise is conditional, but it denies the antecedent. The antecedent is the part of the statement we learned through facts of background knowledge, but if S1 denies S2, then the argument as a whole is invalid (pg.172). Denying the Consequent is not a fallacy, but it occurs when one premise is conditional, but it denies the consequent. Because the consequent is denied, then we know that the conclusion is denied as well. (pg.173). The form is If S1, then S2, not S2, therefore, not S1. (pg.173) We know this through the proper form and true premise test, because the form indicates that it is invalid and the premises are false, so it fails the true premise test. The last argument we see is Tri Conditional. This argument differs from the other arguments, because we are now using three statements to confirm if the premise are true. The form is If S1, then S2, If S2, then S3, therefore If S1, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pursuit Of Happyness Book And Movie Comparison In The Pursuit of Happyness, both the movie and the story had to do with Christopher Gardner s struggles through his life to get a well paying job while he tries to take care of his young son.
