This document discusses the nature and importance of academic freedom. It defines academic freedom as the freedom of teachers and students to teach, study, and pursue knowledge without unreasonable restrictions. The document outlines historical events where academic freedom was suppressed, such as Galileo being imprisoned for his scientific ideas. It discusses declarations by organizations like AAUP in support of academic freedom and independence of faculty. Additionally, it notes the responsibilities and rights of students, teachers, and institutions regarding academic freedom.
Academic Freedom, is not a term to define; is not a formula to apply. When the sun rises to brighten the world, irrespective of any region, country or continent, it is natural. When mind quests to brighten the wisdom, irrespective of any subject or matter, it is also natural.
When we learn, we need a teacher whose ideas are free from any flexuous psychological blockage. Who ignites the minds of a generation. Who never confines his vision into the vial of syllabuses. And when we teach, we need a student who is not proud of his eye-glasses, but of his eyesight. Who learn to be excellent. Who learn to innovate, who learn to inspire. Who learn to implement the accumulated knowledge for the betterment of civilization. When we born, we were casted to play the dual role in our life..both as learner and as a teacher, sometimes simultaneously. Success is a blind-follower of excellence. Institutions are contributed to teachers and learners. Their researches should not be circumscribed by any dominating narcissistic principle.
The history of human civilization talks of many evidences where academic freedom were attacked many times. But in long run they failed repeatedly. And in future history will repeat itself.
Because the thirst of truth is always unquenchable.
Since we don’t know, what we don’t know….
….LEARNING NEVER ENDS.

Japan's educational system is clever that indeed made them placed fourth in the international science and math study in 2007,and many other achievements wherein they are competing globally.
Amidst these achievements in the said major subjects, Japan also gives emphasis and importance to what they really own; their language as part of their curriculum.
Above all of these, agencies both in public and private sectors made a big part in which they provided the needs and necessities in education.
By this, its quite obvious that Japan will continue reigning in the international education studies and also continue aiming the reality of their vision; to produce a globally-competitive individuals.

Values in University Education: Academic Freedom: A Provocation? - Paddy Pren...The Royal Irish Academy
On Monday 10 June at 1pm the Royal Irish Academy Social Sciences committee organised a half day seminar. The event explored shifting principles, aims and values in higher education, such as academic freedom, impact, peer review and open innovation, against the backdrop of current economic challenges. Speakers considered the effective 're-visioning' of education and the values–open and hidden–at play. Contributions included a look at higher education in Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.

Presentation status of inclusion of children with special needs and effectiv...SIDDHI SOOD
Inclusion, right of Children with Special Needs, is an approach to educate students with special educational needs with non-disabled children, i.e., Inclusive Education. And therefore, the point here to think about is when we think about teaching in an inclusive classroom, what are our concerns? Do we have enough training? Will we get the support we need from school administrators or specialists? Will working with the children with special needs take time away from our other responsibilities? These questions are common ones, and sometimes concerns are justified.

Academic freedom is the right of scholars, researchers, and students to pursue their academic work without fear of censorship, retaliation, or persecution. It is the freedom to explore and express ideas, opinions, and beliefs without interference or coercion from external forces. Academic freedom is essential for the advancement of knowledge, critical thinking, and innovation. It allows scholars to conduct research, publish their findings, and engage in open and honest discussions without fear of repression or punishment. Academic freedom is protected by law in many countries and is considered a fundamental human right. It enables scholars to challenge conventional wisdom, explore new ideas, and make discoveries that can have a profound impact on society. However, it is also important to note that academic freedom comes with responsibilities, including ethical conduct, respect for intellectual property rights, and adherence to professional standards.Overall, academic freedom is crucial for the pursuit of knowledge, the advancement of society, and the development of well-informed citizens capable of critical thinking and innovation. It provides a foundation for intellectual growth, societal progress, and the preservation of democratic values in education and research institutions.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
