PetroSync - Introduction to Oil and Gas AccountingPetroSync
The Oil & Gas Industry is one of the top industries in the world requiring intensive capital investment and involves significant risks. Accounting in the Oil & Gas industry is also very unique. Applying accounting rules and regulation are complex and different from any other industry.
The 2-day course focuses on these issues and provides an overall understanding of a series of major IFRS and US GAAP accounting principles and standards that are particularly applicable to the upstream oil and gas business; shows how to apply these accounting rules; discusses financial reporting requirements as applicable to upstream companies and all related Joint Ventures and Production Sharing Contracts.
Designed to provide comprehensive of the fundamentals of estimation & control, this masterclass covers many subtle and advanced estimating & control concepts for specific industry like Oil & gas which are “equipment-centric”, and this influence is important in the selection of estimating methodologies and techniques used in estimate preparation. This process will be covered from both the contractor and owner’s points of view, noting the similarities and differences in the respective approach of each.
An emphasis will be placed on examining the conceptual estimating methodologies that can assist in preparing accurate estimates at early design stages of project. The cost control process will be based on the concept of Plan-Do-Check-Assess of total cost management framework.
Cost engineering is the art of assigning value to that which has been or will be engineered. One key objective of cost engineering is to arrive at accurate cost estimates and schedules and to avoid cost overruns and schedule slips. Cost engineering goes beyond preparing cost estimates and schedules by supporting assessment and decision making. "The discipline of ‘cost engineering’ can be considered to encompass a wide range of cost-related aspects of engineering and programme management, but in particular cost estimating, cost analysis/cost assessment, design-to-cost, schedule analysis/planning and risk assessment."
This course will help you keep the cost down for your engineering phases, but as a result you can also prevent budget overruns. A number of cases will be presented during the course to make it more practical and allow you to apply the principles you have learned.

Most organizations have accident investigation procedures. However, these procedures are often based on a blame culture & do not inspire the investigator to nd & correct the defects in the management system (root causes) that allowed the hazards to exist & the accident to occur.
Several industries have adopted excellent accident investigation & analysis techniques. Competence in the application of modern accident/incident investigation tools will assist organizations to learn & to prevent the recurrence of accidents & to evaluate the extent & location of management defects (root-causes), which contributed to the accident event. A good analytical accident investigation is invaluable to achieve continuous improvement in an organization’s HSE performance.
