It is know that two-third of the original oil in place are still in the ground. Petroleum companies are looking for techniques to improve sweep efficiency and increase recovery factors. As a result, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) processes need to be carried out. Successful WAG floods can yield 5-20% additional oil recovery over waterflood because of improved microscopic displacement efficiency by the solvent coupled with improving areal and vertical sweep efficiency.

There are three primary techniques of EOR: gas injection, thermal injection, and chemical injection. Gas injection, which uses gases such as natural gas, nitrogen, or carbon dioxide (CO2), accounts for nearly 60 percent of EOR production in the United States. Thermal injection, which involves the introduction of heat, accounts for 40 percent of EOR production in the United States, with most of it occurring in California. Chemical injection, which can involve the use of long-chained molecules called polymers to increase the effectiveness of waterfloods, accounts for about one percent of EOR production in the United States. In 2013, a technique called Plasma-Pulse technology was introduced into the United States from Russia. This technique can result in another 50 percent of improvement in existing well production.
These slides were presented for the webinar CO2 EOR and the transition to carbon storage which was presented by Dr Ernie Perkins, a geologist based in Alberta, Canada, with over 20 years experience in carbon dioxide sequestration and acid gas/EOR.
Ernie currently works for both the Global CCS Institute and Alberta Innovates Technology Futures and presented an informative and educational dive into the realities and science of EOR.
The webinar can be viewed by visiting the Global CCS Institute website (http://www.globalccsinstitute.com/community/events/2011/08/17/co2-eor-and-transition-carbon-storage).

PetroSync - Surface Geochemical Exploration for Oil and GasPetroSync
The great majority of oil and gas pools and mature source rocks have recognizable surface geochemical expression. The O&G industry devotes significant time and resources in finding and defining traps, but little or none in establishing the likely presence of hydrocarbon in those traps, especially for older onshore basins.
Cost engineering is the art of assigning value to that which has been or will be engineered. One key objective of cost engineering is to arrive at accurate cost estimates and schedules and to avoid cost overruns and schedule slips. Cost engineering goes beyond preparing cost estimates and schedules by supporting assessment and decision making. "The discipline of ‘cost engineering’ can be considered to encompass a wide range of cost-related aspects of engineering and programme management, but in particular cost estimating, cost analysis/cost assessment, design-to-cost, schedule analysis/planning and risk assessment."
This course will help you keep the cost down for your engineering phases, but as a result you can also prevent budget overruns. A number of cases will be presented during the course to make it more practical and allow you to apply the principles you have learned.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Petroleum companies are looking for techniques to improve sweep efficiency
and increase recovery factors. The Water Alternating Gas (WAG) process can
be optimized by using CO2 instead of natural gas, and adding some chemical
additives in the water slug such as Alkalis, Surfactant and Polymers. This
improvement in the WAG process by using chemical in the water slug is
known as Chemical WAG or CWAG.

Course Overview
Benoît Paul Émile Clapeyron's Fun Fact
Do you know that Clapeyron’s father in law is the one who
designed and constructed The First Engineer Bridge in Saint
Petersburg?
Course Design
This course is designed to cover the introduction of EOR methods, factors to be considered in
designing WAG & CWAG processes to provide participants the best practices in CWAG.
Includes Specific and Practical Case Studies
Participants will gain a through understanding of the theory and practices of the Chemically
Enhanced Water Alternating Gas process to improve the efficiency of current WAG technology.
Participants will be given practical exercises and case studies from SPE papers to enhance the
knowledge and theory they have learnt in class.
