The history of Peru spans several millennia. Peruvian territory was home to the Norte Chico civilization, 1 of the oldest in the world, and to the Inca Empire, The largest state in Pre-Columbian America. It was conquered by the Spanish Empire in the 16 th  centaury, which established a Viceroyalty with jurisdiction over most of it's South American domains. Independence was declared in 1821 but consolidated on after the Battle of Ayacucho, 3 years later.  History
People Since pre-Columbian times Peruvians have been divided by nature. From the arid deserts of the coasts, the Andean Sierra rises up to 19,700 feet. The highlands comprise about a quarter of Peru's population. This mountain mass poses major problems for development and integration into a single society.
Charity Projects In Peru children in the poorest areas are 10 to 12 times more likely to die before their fifth birthday than the children of the richest 20%. One of the many charity projects is Save The Children they are trying to rise the quality of education and keep them away from violence.
Wildlife Peru has lots of wildlife, most of which is in the Amazon rainforest and the Andes.  Peru has over 1,800 species of birds,500 species of mammals and over 300 species of reptiles. Peru has the second largest population of birds in the world. New species are still being discovered and 42 spices have been added to science in the last 30 years.
Peru's reptile species includes creatures like giant anacondas and caimans, as well as many other snakes, lizards and turtles.   Out of the 500 species 70 are endemic and about 100 are threatened or endangered. Peru's reptile fauna
Terrain Peru is split up in to  the major areas the coast the Andes and the Amazon rainforest. The Andes are a huge mountain range. Peru borders the South Pacific Ocean, and shares borders with Chile and Ecuador.
