This Way For The Gas Ladies And Gentlemen Analysis
In the documentary This Way for the Gas Ladies and Gentlemen, Tadeusz Borowski gathers multiple
different experiences whether it was directly or indirectly of the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a
genocide in which Adolf Hitler Nazi s Germany and its collaborators during World War II killed six
million jews. One of the most important aspects of this autobiography is the identification of the
author as actually the main character. He is one of the prisoners at the concentration camp in
Auschwitz where numerous jews are being exterminated. He had to learn how to accept this style of
living to make it home , even though he was not Jewish.
The narrator sets the scene of the concentration camp with the barbed wire, people emerging from
cattle cars

The Goals Of Managers And Shareholders Are Not Always Aligned
The goals of managers and shareholders are not always aligned. Agency theory suggests This
misalignment creates the need for costly monitoring through compensation contracts(Jensen And
Meckling, 1976; Fama and Jensen, 1983). To align the goals of the two parties, Compensation
contracts should be designed to motivate the executive to make decisions that will Not only increase
his or her wealth, but will also increase shareholder wealth. Steps taken to Increase shareholder wealth
should be reflected in improved firm performance. From the economist s viewpoint, value of
shareholder is created when management generates Revenues over and above the economic costs to
generate these revenues. Costs come from four Sources: employee wages and benefits; material,
supplies, and economic depreciation of physical Assets ;taxes; and the opportunity cost of using the
capital. Under this value based view, value is only created when revenues exceed all costs including a
Capital charge. This value accrues mostly to shareholders because they are the residual owners Of the
firm. Shareholders expect management to generate value over and above the costs of resources
Consumed including the cost of using capital. If suppliers of capital do not receive a fair return to
Compensate them for the risk they are taking, they will withdraw their capital in search of better
Returns, since value will be lost. A company that is destroying value will always struggle to Attract
further capital to

Midwestern English Is Also Diverse Enough To Have...
Midwestern English is also diverse enough to have sub varieties of English within the region. There
are two notable sub varieties: Yooper English and Iron Range English. Yooper English is spoken in the
Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is heavily affected by the Canadian Raising. While the origin of the
term Yooper is ambiguous, speakers of this sub dialect sound more like Northern Canadian speakers
than English speakers from the Dakotas. Iron Range English is along the Minnesotan coast of Lake
Superior, and developed when the region was mined for iron and taconite. This dialect is heavily
influenced by the Scandinavian pitch accent and the Canadian Raising as well. There are also
Midwestern English dialect islands areas settled by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Fargo is not a well known movie among younger generations, and this stereotyping seems
to be dying out.
The second is the overriding concept that Midwestern English is inherently accent less, when
compared to other variations of English within the United States. While Midwestern English is distinct
enough to be included in many hand drawn dialect maps of the US, the Midwestern accent is often
labeled as unknown accent (Hartley 2005) (Preston et al 2002). This is because many people outside
of the Midwest believe that the region has no distinguishable accent or linguistic feature to stereotype
(Preston et al 2002). As much of the Midwest was (and continues to be) agriculturally based, there are
very few distinct working class accents, as are common in New York City (Hartley 2005).
In US mainstream culture, there is a tradition of associating the Midwest with General American
English (Preston et al 2002) (Joos 1942) (Lippi Green 2012). Consequently, there are many who refer
to Midwestern English as the most accurate variation of English pronunciation in the United States
(Preston et al 2002). This is, understandably, a very dangerous assumption to make. First, individual
regions in the US are unified by a relatively common accent: Texas has the Texan accent, Southern
states have the Southern accent, the Southwestern states have the Western accent and so on (Lippi
Green 2012). By identifying the Midwest as

the gas chambers and how they looked like normal showers so they began to get scared. They were
told to take a shower once a month and thinking about the chambers can make them anxious. All they
were told was that they were to get undressed and to take a shower but they didn t know what was
going to come out of the shower head. It was either water like they were being told, or it could ve been

Strange Situation Theory
This assignment is going to be an evaluation of how the Strange Situations procedure is useful to our
understanding of attachment, specifically focusing on the work of Mary Ainsworth, who is probably
best known for her elaboration on the work of John Bowlby and attachment theory, and evaluating
how her work has proved crucial in developing other research surrounding the subject. It is easy
enough to know when you are attached to someone as you can understand how you feel when you are
away from that person and as adults we can put our feelings into words and describe these feelings.
However most of the research into attachment is carried out on infants and young children, so
psychologists have to devise ways of researching attachment styles, ... Show more content on

The experiment is made up of a small room with one way glass, so the behaviour can easily be
observed without being distracting, infants were aged between 12 and 18 months and around 100
middle class American families took part in the procedure. The situation for each subject was exactly
the same, the room was set up the same and toys were scattered on the floor, though not haphazardly,
she set out black tape on the floor so she knew exactly how the room should be laid out. (Howard
Egeth, 2015.) The behaviour of the Infant was observed in a series of eight episodes that lasted
approximately three minutes each. The different stages were: 1) Mother baby and experimenter. 2)
Mother and baby alone. 3) Stranger joins mother and baby. 4) Mother leaves baby and stranger alone.
5) Mother returns, stranger leaves. 6) Mother leaves; baby left completely alone. 7) Stranger returns.
8) Mother returns and stranger leaves. From this series of observations Ainsworth defined four
different types of attachment. Firstly Secure Attachment which was seen is 60 70% of the infants, the
infant was seen to explore the environment in the mother presence, upset when she left and not well
comforted by the stranger but calms down quickly when the mother returns. 15 20% of the infants
showed Avoidant Attachment, they were not distressed when their mother left and were equally as
comforted by the stranger and their mother and showed little interest when their mother returned.
Resistant Attachment was shown in 10 15% of cases. This means the infant didn t explore the
environment and was very distressed when their mother left, they avoided the stranger completely and
resisted their mother when she returned. They were not easily comforted. Lastly is Disoriented
Attachment which was shown in 5 10% of the infants involved. These infants had random outburst

BRUCE LEE
Bruce Lee was perhaps the greatest Martial Artist ever. He was born in San Francisco, California on
November 27th, 1940. A few months after his birth, Bruce and his family move back to Hong Kong.
Bruce starred in a number of films as a child. His first starring role was actually when he was six years
old! It was a role in a film titled quot;Little Orphan Sam quot;.
At the age of 12, Bruce begins taking Martial Arts instruction from the legendary Sifu Yap Man, a
master of the art of quot;Wing Chun quot; gung fu. During the next few years, when he was not
practicing his art, he could be found in the movie studios with his father. At the age of 18, due to the
numerous streetfights he was involved in, Bruce alone was forced ... Show more content on

He also gets a small role in the film quot;Marlowe quot;. Sometime after the film quot;Marlowe quot;
is made, Bruce marries Linda. Months later, he opens his first quot;Jun Fan Institute quot;, where he
continues to share his knowledge of Martial Arts.
Word spreads that Bruce Lee is teaching the quot;sacred quot; Martial Arts to foreigners. Bruce is
quot;warned quot; by various other instructors of his quot;violation of the sacred law quot;. According
to the instructors, it was considered forbidden to teach the quot;sacred quot; Martial Arts to anyone
who wasn t of Asian decent. Bruce argued this, saying that he wanted to show the beauty of their
culture to the world. The instructors laid down an ultimatium. Bruce was to either teach only Asians,
or stop teaching altogether. Bruce refused their instructions, vowing to teach whoever wanted to learn.
Needless to say, the instructors were not pleased, and challenged Bruce to fight Wong Jack Man,
another Martial Arts master in the area. The rules were set, if Bruce lost, he was to stop teaching. If he
won, he would be able to teach who he pleased. There has been alot of speculation concerning the true
outcome of this battle, even some 25 years later. Publicly, all that is known, is that Bruce won, barely.
After this fight, Bruce decides to re evaluate his fighting technique, because the fight quot;should have

The Effect Of Digital Analog Audio Signal Processing
Abstract
As technology advances, the research of digital signal processing is undergoing rapid development. At
present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics
applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP
application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech
enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc..
With the development of IT technology and voice processing technology, people have more and more
high quality requirements of audio. However, the traditional analog audio signal processing has been
impossible to meet people s needs, at this time, digital signal processing began to ... Show more

In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system
which based on DSP technology.
In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a numerical
system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain characteristics of
unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response
(IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just
one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily
realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which
is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is widely used in the field of high fidelity signal
processing, such as digital audio, image processing, data transmission, biomedical and other fields.
This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can do
sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve the
system will be put forward.
Key word: DSP, Audio signal processing, FIR filter

Examples Of Creon As A Tragic Figure In Antigone
Aristotle, an ancient Greek philosopher, defines a tragic figure as one who represents goodness,
superiority, a tragic flaw, and a realization of their tragic flaw and inevitability. A tragic figure is
normally someone of royalty, or importance, and also experiences a great devastation. A big flaw of a
tragic hero is usually their pride. The figure will experience an ironic plot twist, where they realize
things are not what they expected, and then are to face the reality of their fate. In, The Theban Plays,
by Sophocles (translated by E. F. Watling), the characters Creon and Antigone represent tragic figures.
In the play Antigone, Sophocles depicts the character Creon as a tragic hero. Creon portrays many
characteristics of a tragic figure. His tragic story begins when makes the decision of becoming a
hubris. A hubris is one who ignores the gods, and follows their own path. When Creon does this, his
decisions greatly affect the fate of his loved ones; his son, wife and Antigone. Along with Creon,
Antigone portrays a tragic hero in as well. Antigone s tragic fate comes from her loyalty to her family
and the gods. She chooses to stick to her own beliefs, rather than having obedience towards the king,
and this was the cause of her downfall.
Creon is first portrayed as a leader with rational laws and consequences for breaking them. But by the
end of the play, Creon is a completely different character; he has let his excessive pride and hubris
take over him. He doesn t realize his change in character until it is brought to him through the
prophecy of Teiresias, when it is already too late. Creon can be identified as a tragic hero because he
shows great signs of stubbornness and pride. Considering he is the King of Thebes, he follows his
rules and laws without listening to his citizen s concerns, nor does he care about the gods wishes. His
role as a hubris influences many of his choices, he believes in only his own thoughts and wishes.
Creon abuses his power just because he can, without thinking of the consequences.
Creon becomes so prideful to the point where he will not listen to anyone, and will not acknowledge
he is wrong. During a conversation with Haemon, Creon tells him, No. I am king, and only

In Individuals, Insanity
The term nationalism refers to loyalty of an individual or a group to a nation. This term is primarily
used when referring to a group which has extreme love for their own country but hatred for others;
these people can go to any extent for the sake of protecting their country. Friedrich Nietzsche
explained this as In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the
rule.
According to Karl Marx theory, class struggle is actually the struggle between two classes; the
bourgeoisie owner of the capital and the proletariat the labor. There are many examples of class
struggle like 1930s Spain where the capitalist were landlords, Catholic Church was the biggest
landlord, and even New York City today, is one

Quiet Boy Themes
In addition to the idea that the Cullen s express devout loyalty to one another, it is also important to
note that they possess extreme self control in all that they do. Even from the founding days of The
Cullen s, their rule about not eating human flesh demonstrates extreme self control. Every single day
the vampires struggle between their greatest desire, human blood, and peacefully existing in a mortal
community. This overarching theme of resisting their craving, then is played out in several details in
the novel. One specific example is when Edward restrains from his initial lure towards Bella is when
he switches out of her biology class (Meyer, Twilight, 89). In an awkward, quiet boy way that Edward

In one instance when Edward and Jacob were working together, Jacob was taunting Edward by
creating inappropriate romantic thoughts in his head about Bella. Edward, having the capability to

control is a quality that has been proven to be trained and can improve over time, similar to the way
Carlisle is immune to blood almost completely, there is also research that shows that individuals who
are in love are more likely to demonstrate self controls that individuals who are in lust (Minjung). In
Minjung s article, How Love and Lust Influence Self Control, he discusses this debate. He says
Forster et al. explored various possible differences between people who were primed with love versus
those who were primed with lust; and the only difference they found was in temporal perspectives
(Minjung). What Minjung means by this is that when researching love stricken versus lust stricken, he
found that the love individuals had the temporal perspective that was focused more on the future,
while the lust individuals did not think about the

Civil Rights Movement Essay
The Civil Rights Movement, also known as the American Civil Rights, was a mass movement during
the 1950s and 1960s. It was one of the most intricate social movements of mankind. The Civil Rights
Movement was a period where African Americans did not have the same equal rights or treatment as
the whites. Instead, African Americans were segregated from whites by not going to school together,
having to sit in the back of the bus, not being able to move freely, or not having the right to vote. Over
the past few decades, the Civil Rights Movement has evolved to restructure the equality amongst all
races across the world.

one of Martin Luther King Jr. non violent protest was the Little Rock Nine . The Little Rock Nine was
nine African American students who went to Little Rock Central High school and were treated very
unethically by many of the whites in the school. This gave rise to the Supreme Court s Decision in the
Brown V. Board of Education which later resulted in the desegregation of schools. This was another
one of the Civil Rights Movement that was successful. Back then, Martin Luther King Jr. and his non
violent protest required gathering of people to his reason. During this period, hundreds of thousands of
people marched in front of the Lincoln Memorial, to beg the federal government to support
desegregation. The movement was to reestablish the rights of citizenship guaranteed by the 14th and
15th amendments. The 14th Amendment of the constitution gave blacks equal protection under the
law and the 15th amendment granted blacks the right to vote. During the protest at the Lincoln
Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. gave his, I have a dream speech, which helped change the Civil
Rights Movement. Ultimately, however, the movement changed the nation for the better and improved
lives of millions of Americans. This helped the African Americans to attain assurance in their
capability to form and to effect political change. They increased more pride in their cultural strengths

Church received was by families paying a tenth of the yearly income to the Church. Due to this the
Church became very wealthy and powerful gaining a lot of land and it was on this land that they built
the monasteries. The Monasteries provided religious service to the community and received money in
return. They also received donations in the form of money or goods, which was used or sold. Multure
was a big part of the income that monasteries received which was a fee paid to the owner of the mill
and everyone needed to use it to grind their grain. Monasteries also received money by holding courts
and handing out fines to the people living under the abbey s jurisdiction. Furness Abbey was the

and the most powerful group of people in an area which was very remote.

observe the effects of sleep timing, sleep quality, and sleep duration on academic achievements in
young adults. Those who participated in the study were thirty six Italian seniors in high school. In
order to determine their ideal sleep timing, they each filled out the Morningness Eveningness
Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (MEQ CA). For two non consecutive weeks, students
underwent actigraphy, which is a non invasive method of monitoring human rest and activity cycles.
This was done in a one month period, and was able to assess factors such as: habitual sleep timing
though the midpoint (MS); habitual sleep quality through the parameter of sleep efficiency (SE); and
habitual sleep duration through the parameter of total sleep time (TST) (Tonetti, Fabbri, Filardi,
Martoni, Natale, 2015). At the end of each actigraphic recording week, the students completed the
Mini Sleep Questionnaire, and their school performance were assessed by the grades achieved after
taking final exams. 1. Introduction Circadian preference is the main focus and what is being tested in

predictions, cosmic ray analysis, thermal ignition, random number generation and wind tunnel design

ways to invent and use these electric behemoths. Operating the ENIAC was no easy feat either! In
order for the ENIAC to run all these tasks, it had to be programmed to do so. Input was made possible
from an IBM card reader, where punched cards would be fed into the reader and the machine would
interpret the data and get to work ( Computering 28). Once that data entered the ENIAC, there was no
interface or software to interact with like today s computers have, all it had was wiring and switches

18,000 vacuum tubes and 3,000 switches to program the device so that they may compute the correct

have occurred. Also from Eckert and Mauchly came the first commercially used computer, the

to ones brain and neurons within the brain and a lifelong journey of recovery. The brain consists of
many neurons which are single nerves. This essay intends to discuss whether there is effective
recovery from brain damage by describing the intricate process of neural networks in the brain. It will
include the fascinating and continuously evolving process of neuroplasticity. It will elaborate on the
other therapies that coincide with neuroplasticity within the recovery process. Lastly, the evidence
which stands as verification of the theory providing a better understanding for one.
Neural networks are an information processing unit that is made up of neurons. According to Dr.
Robert Hecht Nielsen it is ...a computing system made up of a number simple, highly interconnected
processing elements, which process information by their dynamic state response to external inputs.
(Neural Network Primer: Part 1, Maureen Caudill, Al Expert, February 1989) Therefore these neurons
receive signals through dendrites and conduct impulses in a corresponding style recording a visual
stimulus within ones brain cells. The activity of one nerve cell directly affects the other nerve cells.
Neural networks have the ability to replace functions in targeted areas enabling the damaged areas
functions to be reinstalled in other areas. Neural networks are made up of layers that consist of

Benefits Of Insurance And Self Insured Employers
When it comes to explaining fully insured versus self insured employers it is important that we have
an accurate understanding of the definitions of and differences between the two. According to benefits
communication expert Jennifer Benz of Benz Communications in
San Francisco
If an employer sponsored plan is fully insured, the insurance company is ultimately responsible for the
health care costs and the employer pays premiums. If an employer sponsored plan is self insured, the
employer is ultimately responsible for the health care costs, and pays for all of those costs plus
administration fees.
There are different risks involved with both types of plans. Typically, smaller companies with fewer
employees opt for fully insured plans and larger companies with 5000 or more employees opt to be
self insured. According to the Employee Benefits Research Institute (EBRI) in 2008, 88 percent of
workers in firms with 3 199 employees were in fully insured plans and 89 percent of workers
employed in firms with 5000 or more employees were in self insured plans. (MacDonald, 2009) The
EBRI Fast Facts paper goes on to say overall for that same year 45 percent of workers in the health
insurance market share were covered by fully insured plans versus 55 percent for self insured plans.

Introduction
Thailand is located in Southeast Asia and occupies the western half of the Indochinese Peninsula and
the northern two thirds of the Malay Peninsula. Its government is a constitutional monarchy which is
much similar to the government of the United Kingdom. The economic system of Thailand is
considered to be a mixed system with the combination of market capitalist and socialist. It is an export
oriented country and owns a number of Asia s largest industries such as shrimp and rice. Its economy
is slowing down due to the political instability. This paper is going to demonstrate some main aspects
of Thailand including its historical and cultural background, political system, the role of government,
financial and educational sector, economy and so on.

The Thai unified kingdom known as Siam was established in the middle of14th century. The kings of
the kingdom owned absolute power and there was no written constitution until 1932, a bloodless
revolution called The Revolution of 1932 took place, transforming the Government of Thailand from
an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy. Instead of the monarch possessing absolute power
and decided everything, the prime minister

The Great Depression Of The 1920 S
Following WW I in the 1920 s, there was a decade of an economical explosion. The post war era
brought about many changes. Businesses showed great profits, migration to big cities of industrial
companies occurred with the hopes of making a better life, people were given the opportunity to
purchase things on credit, while others borrowed money making poor decisions buying high priced
stocks with the intention of selling stocks for a profits to repay lenders. When Black Tuesday occurred
on October 29, 1929, this marked the beginning of the Great Depression that left devastating
economic hardships for the American people. Although it was always my belief that the stock market

S. and other countries that had industries charged high import taxes on good that were offered for sale.
These taxes prevented counties from selling the goods they needed to earn the money to repay loans to
the U.S. banks. In a three year period over 9,000 banks went bankrupt or had to close their doors to
avoid bankruptcy which led to a decline in purchasing powers. When the banks started failing people
lost their saving because the banks were uninsured. The banks weren t as willing to offer new loans.
At the same time this was occurring, there was the distribution of unequal income. Businesses were
showing great profits during the 1920 s, however the working class only got a small portion of this
wealth with their low wages. People with low incomes purchased merchandise on credit. People
thought that they had more money to spend on materialistic possessions using credit. Advertising
increased, enticing people with the buy now, pay later slogan which in turn caused many consumers to
accumulate so much debt that were unable to keep up with payments on the items they purchased, and
they were repossessed. Once the slowing of manufactured goods occurred, inventory accumulated and
there was a backlog of purchasing merchandise which caused even less spending that didn t help the
economy.
Another problem contributing to the Depression was the epic drought that occurred in 1930. During
WWI, thousands of farmers migrated to the Great Plains area because of its rich

The first half of Neruda s poem offers context to beauty within the structure. The choice of beautiful
content ultimately offers a stronger point in his protest since he explains what people expect him to
write.
The poem begins by questioning the reader, assuming that the reader would ask Neruda, where are the
lilacs?/ And the poppy petalled metaphysics?/ And the rain repeatedly spattering/ and drilling them
full/ of apertures and birds? Neruda decided to engage the reader by acknowledging the reader s need
for a typically beautiful poem. Due to the assumption, the first half of the poem describes the beautiful

repeat of the statement is meant to be yelled, indicated by an explanation point. The sentence is read in
a shouting voice, finalizing the importance of the statement. The purpose of the poem shines through

Keratosis Pilalaris Research Paper
Causes and Treatment of Keratosis Pilaris
By Susha Cheriyedath, MSc
Causes of Keratosis Pilaris
Keratosis pilaris is caused by abnormally high buildup of keratin. The reason for this buildup is still
not clear. However, studies indicate that it can be associated with some skin conditions such as atopic
dermatitis (eczema) or genetic disorders.
Keratosis pilaris is found to be more common in people who have dry skin. In dry weather, this skin
condition seems to worsen and hence flares up in winter and clears in summer. Targeted cancer
therapies such as vemurafenib can also cause lesions resembling that of keratosis pilaris as a side
effect.
Keratosis pilaris is an inherited skin condition that runs in families. It usually develops in childhood, is
at its peak during adolescence, and often clears in adulthood.
Treatment of Keratosis Pilaris
Keratosis pilaris normally clears up on its own at a slow pace. In order to speed up recovery, treatment
methods are available, which mainly focus on exfoliation and moisturizing of the affected skin. It can
take months to see any improvement and the tiny bumps almost always come back on stopping
treatment.

moisturize dry skin. They are available as over the counter as well as prescription medicines. Follow

Unhealthy Eating Healthy In The United States
One important part of having a good workout is having a good and healthy diet. If you trying to lose
weight by exercising but you re eating something like McDonald s everyday while drinking a large

health or weight due to the excess amount of sugar, salt, and fat found in them. Eating healthy can be
hard for many people though because healthier alternatives are often more expensive or they are
misled into thinking what is healthy for them and what is not. Unhealthy eating habits have

The United States Tennis Association(USTA) was founded in 1881, but the Women s Tennis
Association was only started in 1973. Tennis is one of the main sports that has different playing rules
with men and women, men play best of five sets and women play best of three sets, meaning that the
first person to win six games with at least a difference of two will win that set. A match consists of the
person who wins the most games out of five for men and three for women. Women were said to be
weaker, by men, because at the first Wimbledon tournament a woman wearing the extremely hot
uniforms, that consisted of long multi layered skirts, long sleeved blouses and corsets, passed out
during a match. Recently there has been talk about making the the women s matches 5 sets instead of

match played was only available for males to compete. Although it didn t take long for women to join
in and that was in 1884. During this time a lot of people saw men as being the stronger sex and more
capable, but it only took about six years to add females into the tennis community. While the game has
come very far with equality, it s still not perfect. In 2014 a Forbes article discusses the wage gap in

Essay on The Manhattan Project
Before the Manhattan Project, in the beginning there were many advancements in understanding made
in the world of physics. These resulted in the recognition of nuclear fission and its potential as an
energy source and as a potential weapon. Of these advancements none was more central and important
than the development of the nuclear model of the atom, which by the year of 1932 contained a nucleus
containing most of the mass of an atom in the form of two particles, protons and neutrons. This
nucleus was surrounded by an electron shell. Previously it was thought that atoms were the smallest

The idea that nuclear fission could be a significant producer of electrical power and a powerful

escalating conflict in Europe, many scientist no longer published their discoveries and advancements
for fear of it aiding enemy scientist. There was one difficulty encountered early on in the development
of Manhattan Project, this problem was the difficulty of mining or creating the proper uranium
isotope. Uranium 235 was the only isotope of uranium that underwent fission and only 0.7% of the
uranium found in nature was of this isotope. More commonly uranium 238 was found, which actually
inhibited the nuclear chain reaction. There were however several techniques which will be mentioned
later for enriching the uranium. Do to how rare and expensive uranium 235 was it was first necessary
to determine how much would be needed to create fission reactor or bomb.

In fact there will never was, nor will there ever be, a time that would surpass the horror humanity
faced during the outbreak. We were put through a trial. Some passed and some failed. The worst traits
of humanity were exposed during the outbreak. But at the same time, the best traits shone so brightly
that the darkness of humanity dissipated. It was the survivors that fought to get our lives back who had
these traits. Many credit me with bringing together so many people, with different ideals, to fight back
or bringing out the best in people because I inspired them. That was not true. It was thanks to true
humanity. The humanity I always knew existed. It s just that it was always suppressed by the darkness
of humanity. If you said to me a year before the outbreak that this would happen, I would send you to
a mental asylum. I guess the joke is on me, so to speak. I wasn t, what some would say, a confident
person. I would just follow others and just do my job. The outbreak changed all that. It changed
everyone, especially me. Some people got stronger due to the outbreak. Some became weaker. Being
leader of the survivors? This idea would be absurd to me before the outbreak. I never wanted to be a

Superhero Essay
Power is an opportunity, tool that can be used for variety of motives. A person with superpower can
turn either into a hero or a villain, it just depends on ones morals, principles and persona. In this world
full of powerful people, use and misuse of power can be seen clearly. Power doesn t changes ones
ethics, it just magnifies one s ability to achieve greatness. People are not called super heroes just for
their power. They are respected as super hero because of their usage of power for the good deeds.
Talking about the risk of an overpowered individual, Superman is one of the most powerful individual
in comic universe. He has unlimited potential within him. Although he uses his power for the good
sake, there is a great risk from him as he has no limits and no one can stop him. It is not his power that
makes him a threat, it s his ethics that features him as risk to the real world.
The ultimate concept of overpower reveals the negative appearance which let down ones self esteem.
The potential of an individual power can be controlled, utilized, gained or reverse. An overpowered
individual can be considered as a major threat to the world. Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, one of the most

  • 2. This Way For The Gas Ladies And Gentlemen Analysis In the documentary This Way for the Gas Ladies and Gentlemen, Tadeusz Borowski gathers multiple different experiences whether it was directly or indirectly of the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a genocide in which Adolf Hitler Nazi s Germany and its collaborators during World War II killed six million jews. One of the most important aspects of this autobiography is the identification of the author as actually the main character. He is one of the prisoners at the concentration camp in Auschwitz where numerous jews are being exterminated. He had to learn how to accept this style of living to make it home , even though he was not Jewish. The narrator sets the scene of the concentration camp with the barbed wire, people emerging from cattle cars ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Goals Of Managers And Shareholders Are Not Always Aligned The goals of managers and shareholders are not always aligned. Agency theory suggests This misalignment creates the need for costly monitoring through compensation contracts(Jensen And Meckling, 1976; Fama and Jensen, 1983). To align the goals of the two parties, Compensation contracts should be designed to motivate the executive to make decisions that will Not only increase his or her wealth, but will also increase shareholder wealth. Steps taken to Increase shareholder wealth should be reflected in improved firm performance. From the economist s viewpoint, value of shareholder is created when management generates Revenues over and above the economic costs to generate these revenues. Costs come from four Sources: employee wages and benefits; material, supplies, and economic depreciation of physical Assets ;taxes; and the opportunity cost of using the capital. Under this value based view, value is only created when revenues exceed all costs including a Capital charge. This value accrues mostly to shareholders because they are the residual owners Of the firm. Shareholders expect management to generate value over and above the costs of resources Consumed including the cost of using capital. If suppliers of capital do not receive a fair return to Compensate them for the risk they are taking, they will withdraw their capital in search of better Returns, since value will be lost. A company that is destroying value will always struggle to Attract further capital to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Midwestern English Is Also Diverse Enough To Have... Midwestern English is also diverse enough to have sub varieties of English within the region. There are two notable sub varieties: Yooper English and Iron Range English. Yooper English is spoken in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is heavily affected by the Canadian Raising. While the origin of the term Yooper is ambiguous, speakers of this sub dialect sound more like Northern Canadian speakers than English speakers from the Dakotas. Iron Range English is along the Minnesotan coast of Lake Superior, and developed when the region was mined for iron and taconite. This dialect is heavily influenced by the Scandinavian pitch accent and the Canadian Raising as well. There are also Midwestern English dialect islands areas settled by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Fargo is not a well known movie among younger generations, and this stereotyping seems to be dying out. The second is the overriding concept that Midwestern English is inherently accent less, when compared to other variations of English within the United States. While Midwestern English is distinct enough to be included in many hand drawn dialect maps of the US, the Midwestern accent is often labeled as unknown accent (Hartley 2005) (Preston et al 2002). This is because many people outside of the Midwest believe that the region has no distinguishable accent or linguistic feature to stereotype (Preston et al 2002). As much of the Midwest was (and continues to be) agriculturally based, there are very few distinct working class accents, as are common in New York City (Hartley 2005). In US mainstream culture, there is a tradition of associating the Midwest with General American English (Preston et al 2002) (Joos 1942) (Lippi Green 2012). Consequently, there are many who refer to Midwestern English as the most accurate variation of English pronunciation in the United States (Preston et al 2002). This is, understandably, a very dangerous assumption to make. First, individual regions in the US are unified by a relatively common accent: Texas has the Texan accent, Southern states have the Southern accent, the Southwestern states have the Western accent and so on (Lippi Green 2012). This is a significant quote because it is an example of how the Holocaust had such harsh ways to kill people that weren t considered a superior race . The Jews at Bergen Belsen had heard of the gas chambers and how they looked like normal showers so they began to get scared. They were told to take a shower once a month and thinking about the chambers can make them anxious. All they were told was that they were to get undressed and to take a shower but they didn t know what was going to come out of the shower head. It was either water like they were being told, or it could ve been Zyklon B, the poisonous gas used to kill hundreds of Jews. This is important to know because many mass amounts of people were killed by the place they were told to take a shower in. Having this happen at other concentration camps scares Marion and her family because they don t truly know if Bergen Belsen is one of the very few places that doesn t have gas ... • 6. Strange Situation Theory This assignment is going to be an evaluation of how the Strange Situations procedure is useful to our understanding of attachment, specifically focusing on the work of Mary Ainsworth, who is probably best known for her elaboration on the work of John Bowlby and attachment theory, and evaluating how her work has proved crucial in developing other research surrounding the subject. It is easy enough to know when you are attached to someone as you can understand how you feel when you are away from that person and as adults we can put our feelings into words and describe these feelings. However most of the research into attachment is carried out on infants and young children, so psychologists have to devise ways of researching attachment styles, ... The experiment is made up of a small room with one way glass, so the behaviour can easily be observed without being distracting, infants were aged between 12 and 18 months and around 100 middle class American families took part in the procedure. The situation for each subject was exactly the same, the room was set up the same and toys were scattered on the floor, though not haphazardly, she set out black tape on the floor so she knew exactly how the room should be laid out. (Howard Egeth, 2015.) The behaviour of the Infant was observed in a series of eight episodes that lasted approximately three minutes each. The different stages were: 1) Mother baby and experimenter. 2) Mother and baby alone. 3) Stranger joins mother and baby. 4) Mother leaves baby and stranger alone. 5) Mother returns, stranger leaves. 6) Mother leaves; baby left completely alone. 7) Stranger returns. 8) Mother returns and stranger leaves. From this series of observations Ainsworth defined four different types of attachment. Firstly Secure Attachment which was seen is 60 70% of the infants, the infant was seen to explore the environment in the mother presence, upset when she left and not well comforted by the stranger but calms down quickly when the mother returns. 15 20% of the infants showed Avoidant Attachment, they were not distressed when their mother left and were equally as comforted by the stranger and their mother and showed little interest when their mother returned. Resistant Attachment was shown in 10 15% of cases. This means the infant didn t explore the environment and was very distressed when their mother left, they avoided the stranger completely and resisted their mother when she returned. They were not easily comforted. Lastly is Disoriented Attachment which was shown in 5 10% of the infants involved. These infants had random outburst and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bruce refused their instructions, vowing to teach whoever wanted to learn. Needless to say, the instructors were not pleased, and challenged Bruce to fight Wong Jack Man, another Martial Arts master in the area. The rules were set, if Bruce lost, he was to stop teaching. If he won, he would be able to teach who he pleased. There has been alot of speculation concerning the true outcome of this battle, even some 25 years later. At present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc.. In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system which based on DSP technology. In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a numerical system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain characteristics of unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is widely used in the field of high fidelity signal processing, such as digital audio, image processing, data transmission, biomedical and other fields. This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can do sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve the system will be put forward. • 9. Examples Of Creon As A Tragic Figure In Antigone Aristotle, an ancient Greek philosopher, defines a tragic figure as one who represents goodness, superiority, a tragic flaw, and a realization of their tragic flaw and inevitability. A tragic figure is normally someone of royalty, or importance, and also experiences a great devastation. A big flaw of a tragic hero is usually their pride. The figure will experience an ironic plot twist, where they realize things are not what they expected, and then are to face the reality of their fate. In, The Theban Plays, by Sophocles (translated by E. F. Watling), the characters Creon and Antigone represent tragic figures. In the play Antigone, Sophocles depicts the character Creon as a tragic hero. Creon portrays many characteristics of a tragic figure. His tragic story begins when makes the decision of becoming a hubris. A hubris is one who ignores the gods, and follows their own path. When Creon does this, his decisions greatly affect the fate of his loved ones; his son, wife and Antigone. Along with Creon, Antigone portrays a tragic hero in as well. Antigone s tragic fate comes from her loyalty to her family and the gods. She chooses to stick to her own beliefs, rather than having obedience towards the king, and this was the cause of her downfall. Creon is first portrayed as a leader with rational laws and consequences for breaking them. But by the end of the play, Creon is a completely different character; he has let his excessive pride and hubris take over him. He doesn t realize his change in character until it is brought to him through the prophecy of Teiresias, when it is already too late. Creon can be identified as a tragic hero because he shows great signs of stubbornness and pride. Considering he is the King of Thebes, he follows his rules and laws without listening to his citizen s concerns, nor does he care about the gods wishes. His role as a hubris influences many of his choices, he believes in only his own thoughts and wishes. Creon abuses his power just because he can, without thinking of the consequences. Creon becomes so prideful to the point where he will not listen to anyone, and will not acknowledge he is wrong. During a conversation with Haemon, Creon tells him, No. I am king, and only ... • 10. In Individuals, Insanity The term nationalism refers to loyalty of an individual or a group to a nation. This term is primarily used when referring to a group which has extreme love for their own country but hatred for others; these people can go to any extent for the sake of protecting their country. Friedrich Nietzsche explained this as In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule. According to Karl Marx theory, class struggle is actually the struggle between two classes; the bourgeoisie owner of the capital and the proletariat the labor. Even from the founding days of The Cullen s, their rule about not eating human flesh demonstrates extreme self control. Every single day the vampires struggle between their greatest desire, human blood, and peacefully existing in a mortal community. This overarching theme of resisting their craving, then is played out in several details in the novel. One specific example is when Edward restrains from his initial lure towards Bella is when he switches out of her biology class (Meyer, Twilight, 89). Although self control is a quality that has been proven to be trained and can improve over time, similar to the way Carlisle is immune to blood almost completely, there is also research that shows that individuals who are in love are more likely to demonstrate self controls that individuals who are in lust (Minjung). In Minjung s article, How Love and Lust Influence Self Control, he discusses this debate. He says Forster et al. explored various possible differences between people who were primed with love versus those who were primed with lust; and the only difference they found was in temporal perspectives (Minjung). What Minjung means by this is that when researching love stricken versus lust stricken, he found that the love individuals had the temporal perspective that was focused more on the future, while the lust individuals did not think about the ... It was one of the most intricate social movements of mankind. The Civil Rights Movement was a period where African Americans did not have the same equal rights or treatment as the whites. Instead, African Americans were segregated from whites by not going to school together, having to sit in the back of the bus, not being able to move freely, or not having the right to vote. The Little Rock Nine was nine African American students who went to Little Rock Central High school and were treated very unethically by many of the whites in the school. This gave rise to the Supreme Court s Decision in the Brown V. Board of Education which later resulted in the desegregation of schools. This was another one of the Civil Rights Movement that was successful. Back then, Martin Luther King Jr. and his non violent protest required gathering of people to his reason. During this period, hundreds of thousands of people marched in front of the Lincoln Memorial, to beg the federal government to support desegregation. The movement was to reestablish the rights of citizenship guaranteed by the 14th and 15th amendments. Abigail Morales Encinas BIO 201L 10/22/2015 Dr. Stephanie Stang The Effects on Sleep Timing/Quality/Duration on Academic Achievement Abstract: The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of sleep timing, sleep quality, and sleep duration on academic achievements in young adults. Those who participated in the study were thirty six Italian seniors in high school. In order to determine their ideal sleep timing, they each filled out the Morningness Eveningness Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (MEQ CA). For two non consecutive weeks, students underwent actigraphy, which is a non invasive method of monitoring human rest and activity cycles. This was done in a one month period, and was able to assess factors such as: habitual sleep timing though the midpoint (MS); habitual sleep quality through the parameter of sleep efficiency (SE); and habitual sleep duration through the parameter of total sleep time (TST) (Tonetti, Fabbri, Filardi, Martoni, Natale, 2015). At the end of each actigraphic recording week, the students completed the Mini Sleep Questionnaire, and their school performance were assessed by the grades achieved after taking final exams. 1. Introduction Circadian preference is the main focus and what is being tested in this study.
