Persuasive Essay Topics College Level
Writing an essay on persuasive topics at the college level can be quite challenging for various
reasons. First and foremost, selecting a compelling and relevant topic that resonates with both
the writer and the target audience is a daunting task. The need for a topic that is not only
interesting but also capable of sparking a meaningful discussion adds an extra layer of
complexity.
Additionally, crafting a persuasive essay requires a thorough understanding of the chosen subject
matter. This involves extensive research to gather credible and up-to-date information, statistics,
and examples to support the writer's claims. The ability to critically analyze and synthesize
information is crucial in developing a persuasive argument that stands up to scrutiny.
Furthermore, organizing the essay in a coherent and logical manner is another hurdle. Creating a
strong introduction that grabs the reader's attention, presenting a clear thesis statement, and
developing well-structured body paragraphs are essential components. Ensuring a smooth
transition between ideas and maintaining a persuasive tone throughout the essay requires careful
attention to detail.
The challenge is not only in presenting one's own viewpoint persuasively but also in anticipating
counterarguments and effectively refuting them. This demands a deep understanding of
opposing perspectives and the ability to counter them with well-reasoned arguments and
evidence.
In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay at the college level is a demanding task that requires
careful topic selection, extensive research, critical analysis, and effective organization of ideas.
It's a process that challenges writers to think critically and communicate persuasively. For those
facing difficulties, seeking assistance from resources like HelpWriting.net can provide valuable
support and guidance. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on such platforms to ease
the burden of essay writing.

The Elizabethan Er The Golden Age Of English History
Jamie Berquist
Carolyn Crumpler
World History (E Block)
March 13, 2015 The Elizabethan Era is depicted as the golden age in English
history. This age was marked as a renaissance which inspired English exploration,
international expansion and naval triumph over England s hated Spanish enemies (
Elizabethan Era. ). Queen Elizabeth I was queen from 1558 until her death in
1603, marking the Elizabethan Era. Her father was King Henry VIII, who ruled
from 1509 until his death in 1547, and was succeeded by Elizabeth s siblings
Edward and Mary. Her father s reign was shaped by his separation from the Catholic
Church, which sparked years of religious controversy in England. Queen Elizabeth s
mother was Protestant, but Elizabeth s predecessor and sister Mary was Catholic.
Navigating the religious instability that resulted from these religious changes was one
of Elizabeth s great obstacles when obtaining the throne. Despite such challenges,
Elizabeth I s reign was one of the more constructive periods in English history, due to
her success in maintaining British dominance in foreign affairs, her patronage of
literature and music, and her stabilization of religious conflict between Catholics and
Protestants ( The Greenhaven Encyclopedia of The Renaissance ).
Queen Elizabeth had great success in maintaining British dominance in foreign
affairs, including the colonies in America, and leading the defeat of the Spanish
Armada. She encouraged the English settled new colonies in the
How Roman Art Became Christian Art
When Christianity was introduced as a successor to Judaism, Roman Empire s
official religion was still Paganism. As a result Christianity was a mystery religion
in Roman Empire before it became an official Religion. In this period we do not
see any churches, and people used to gather in a secret place in order to pray.
These places were like ordinary homes, but they changed inside, so it could be used
for religion purposes. A really good example of it is Dura Europos house church. It
has a simple architecture, as we can see they even broke the wall inside the house to
make it bigger as to serve gatherings. After Constantine declared Christianityas an
official religion, everything changed. In this essay I aim to discuss how Roman art
became Christian Art. In other words, I will explain how Romans used their art and
style as a formula to create art based on Christianity principals.
This essay starts with the use of Roman architecture to practice Christianity. Then I
will write about how the image of the Roman emperors became the inspiration for
the image of the Jesus. Finally I will discuss the way Romans used the same
iconography and narrative they already had as a formula to image the bible.
As we know, Romans were so religious, and they paid homage to their gods with
building gigantic temples and statues, which now we may know many of them as
wonders of the ancient world. Constantine was going to build churches in his empire
as a place to practice Christianity; they

patients to obtain the services they need to make it possible by not just making it
possible for patients to access their product from a provider who offers Relay

It is important for Relay health to focus on removing access barriers making it easy
for consumers to gain access whether or not the provider offers Relay Health. It

Public Service Broadcasting In Australia
There is no doubt that the proliferation of digital media has placed great stress on the
already fragile status of public service broadcasting (Miragliotta and Errington, 2012).
The convergent media environment alongside restraints on funding and skeptic views
regarding their necessity have posed great challenges altering the role of public
service broadcasters in the 21st century. However, there are many signs pointing
toward a renewed government commitment within the Australian sector, to suggest
that what the digital revolution has brought is not only challenges but also
opportunities (Spigelman, 2013). By examining the recent movements of the
Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in addition to specific reference of the
Special Broadcasting Company (SBS) this essay shall seek to address the current
debate surrounding the necessity of public service broadcasters in the 21st century.
To this day, the charter written by John Reith, the first director general of the British
Broadcasting Company (BBC) in 1926, is believed to have established the principles
governing public service broadcasting. John Reith first set out his ideas about how

Much like traditional forms of media, public service broadcasting was feeling the
effects of the Internet on their audience. Skepticism from the government,
commercial media and the general public posed questions surrounding the necessity
for the ABC to exist in the 21st century arguing that in such a convergent age of
media production and content, the original principles governing public service
broadcasting were both inadequate and inconsistent. In order for the ABC to combat
these challenges, associated with pessimistic questioning, the corporation underwent
significant restructuring of their internal operations with cuts to budgets and jobs,
and reviews to increase their internal efficiency (Miragliotta and Errington,
Women And Female Characters In Homer s Medea
Another of Greco Roman mythology s strongest and most prominent female
characters is Medea. Throughout her different iterations, Medea is shown to be
closely associated with the female ability to give and withhold life. First of all, she
was a disciple of Hecate who, aside from being the goddess of the moon,
witchcraft, and crossroads (Brooks, Lesson 12: Perseus and Demeter), is described
in Hesiod s Theogony as a nurse of the young (455) and having the ability to
increase[e] stock in a pen [...] if she wills in her heart she can multiply them or make
them diminish (446 449). Consistent with Hecate s abilities, Medeas plot against
Pelias, described in Ovid s Metamorphoses, revolves around her ability to give life
by return[ing] the vigor and bloom of youth (7.215). Additionally, in Euripides
Medea, she tells King Aigeus that she will put an end to [his] childlessness (716)
and help him beget heirs of [his] blood (717) in order to ensure that Athens will
grant her asylum after executing her revenge on Jason (679 758). Overall, Medea
is shown to be a woman with great control over life. However, she does not only
grant it, she also exercises her ability to take it away. Medea kills her own children
as a part of her plan to take revenge on Jason, stating that if die they must, I shall
slay them, who gave them birth (Euripides 63). She also kills Creon s daughter,
stating that never shall [Jason] beget children by his new bride (Euripides, Medea
803 804), which results in a complete loss of all his current and potential heirs.
Ultimately, the play ends with Medea escaping without punishment for her actions,
and this fact seems to affirm a mother s rights over the life they have given. A similar
situation can be found in Ovid s Metamorphoses, where Procne kills her son and
serves him to her husband, Tereus, for dinner as retribution for the rape and
mutilation of her sister (6.620 674). It is a particularly fitting punishment as it
violates Tereus body in a similar manner, by forcing him to contain something
unwanted, and allows Procne and Philomela to retake the control that was stolen from
them. Not only do both mothers kill their children the one thing they have an
inherent right to control

Compare And Contrast Crazy Horse And Little Bighorn
Crazy Horse and Custer Comparison As being two revered warriors from
completely opposite sides, General Armstrong Custer and Crazy Horse held very
similar characteristics that ultimately made them tick. After doing some deep
research on these two men it was almost complete fate that they met on the
battlefield of Little Bighorn. To what I say that their lives were destined to go the
way they did, so they would fight face to face. As for the paper goes these two men
were brought up with completely different family scenarios that led them to the great
warriors that they ended up being. George Armstrong Custerwas born December 5,
1839 in New Rumley, Ohio to Emanuel and Maria Custer. According to an article
written by Jeffry Wert of History.Net, Custer was given the nickname Autie by his
mother on top of other like Hard Ass and Iron Butt . Autie was almost or was fully
worshipped by his other sibling and especially was spoiled by his parents at a very
young age. This mindset was driven deep into Autie s mind that he could probably
get away with anything that he did bad or great. Wert goes on by saying that Autie
was bright but was a bad boy in school , just because he wasn t willing to put the
work in, in the classroom. Eventually Custer wanted to join the army mainly this
being the only place in life that interested him, in June 1857 Custer enrolled into
West Point, but this went as well as his schooling in his younger years. In his full four

Negative Effects Of Caffeine
Background Research Is Caffeine good or bad for living organisms? This is a
topic that has been debated all around the world. Plants are essential to life on earth
because of their ability to make food. They make food by using a process called
photosynthesis. Some plants can also produce caffeine on their own. Caffeine speeds
up regeneration in Planaria. Caffeine is used to stimulate the central nervous system.
Caffeine is consumed in large quantities daily, but it can have both positive and
negative effects on living organisms that ingest it. Caffeine is an alkaloid, which is
commonly found in coffee, tea, and pop (Shahab). It has many health benefits, as
well as its disadvantages. Drinking caffeine protects the liver. It has been... Show

Nitrogen, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and sulfur are all
macronutrients. Chlorine, iron, boron, manganese, zinc, copper, nickel, and
molybdenum are all micronutrients. Nitrogen is needed for the chlorophyll of the plant
. The relative number for nitrogen is 1,000,000. It helps speed up the growth of a
plant. Phosphorus is a key element in order for plants to maintain photosynthesis.
Potassium is also a key element for plants to maintain photosynthesis. However, it
also helps limit diseases, and is the element responsible for getting plants protein.
Magnesium energizes plant enzymes that are essential for growth. Sulfur helps boost
the growth of roots. Zinc helps control sugars. Fertilizers also help plants grow and
develop. There are four categories of fertilizers; synthetic fertilizer, organic fertilizer,
slow release fertilizer, and fast release fertilizer. Synthetic fertilizers are manufactured.
Organic fertilizers are made from natural materials. Fast release fertilizers quickly
release nutrients to plants. Slow release fertilizers limit the loss of nutrients. (Streich,
etal) Plants are divided into a kingdom call Kingdom Plantae. In order to be in this
kingdom, the plant must be multicellular, live on land, carry out photosynthesis, and
must have roots, stems and leaves (Blashfield). In this kingdom, there are plant
divisions. Some of these divisions are Anthocerotophyta, Bryophyta,
Marchantiophyta, Lycopodiophyta, Psilophyta, Sphenophyta,
Mark Cuban Essay
Mark Cuban is probably the most recognizable owner in the NBA and maybe all of
professional sports. With his cheery, enthusiastic attitude, he is just one of the fans.
Cuban is an enthusiastic NBA owner who, instead of being a faceless front office
type, is his team s biggest and most vocal fan. When Mark Cuban purchased the
Dallas Mavericks on January 14, 2000, the face of the organization began to change
immediately. Once again Mavericks games had a party atmosphere as Reunion
Arena rocked with the return of the Reunion Rowdies. Mavericks games became
more than just ordinary NBA games they were a total entertainment experience.

other ventures, Cuban is revolutionizing the television industry with HDNet. He is
planning to expand HDNet to include three more networks showing high def
sports, movies and entertainment by the end of 2002. During the Mavs 2001 02
campaign, the team continued their winning ways by finishing the season with a
franchise best record of 57 25 and an NBA best road record of 27 14, advancing to
the postseason for the second consecutive year. Today, in addition to his ownership of
the Mavericks, Cuban is an active investor in leading and cutting edge technologies
and continues to be a sought after speaker.
Mark Cuban was born on July 31, 1958 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Cuban s first
foray in the business world was as a garbage bag salesman, where he sold garbage
bags around his neighborhood in the south hills of Pittsburgh. Cuban earned his
way to college by giving disco dancing lessons and writing chain letters. He chose
Indiana University because of the school s low cost compared to the nation s other
top business schools. Even in college, Cuban was seen as a
Paraesophageal Hernia Research Paper
This week I took care of a patient who had surgery for a paraesophageal hernia. She
was three days post operation by the time I started providing care. By this time, she
only had a urinary catheter and g tube. The g tube was exciting because I was able
to learn how to pass medications through it and run TPN. However, this patient
provided more of a challenge than learning how to properly care for a g tube. This
patient also had dementia. She was disoriented to time, place, and situation. While
I have taken care of multiple people with dementia in various stages, I found parts
of caring for her more difficult. The part of care that I found the hardest was
patient teaching. Every time the patient looked down she would see the tubes. She
asked what they were for and I explained that they were to help with feeding until
her throat felt better and to collect her urine. This was difficult for her because she
did not remember getting a surgery. She would look at the tubes for a while and
then say she needed to pee. I would then explain to her that the bag was collecting
her urine and she didn t have to worry about going to the bathroom. The feeling she
had was just the pressure from the catheter. The cycle of her asking what the tubes
were and saying she needed to use the restroom went on for a while. I... Show more

I would allow her to use the commode every couple hours because she was having
pretty frequent bowel movements. I did not want her to be on the commode every
time she said she needed to pee because she would insist on sitting on it for at least
a half an hour trying to urinate. The other times I found distracting her with walks
and reading was beneficial. It was all just about finding the right type of redirection
for her. I also talked to the family about redirecting her and they seemed a little less
frustrated while doing this. They also found comfort when I told them that the
catheter would be taken out that
Animalism In The Catastrophist
For him, the possibility of any mutation or metamorphosis was to be taken for
granted, if not indeed welcomed, as was the contingency that, dead sun or no dead
sun, the terrestrial globe could very readily be imagined after we re gone, claims
Christopher Hitchens, an English author, literary critic and journalist, in his article
The Catastrophist, where he comments on the pattern which James Graham Ballard
takes for the course of his works, each one of them showing a depressing and
deranged picture of humanity prone to animalistic and self destructive actions.
Hitchens describes Ballard as heavily influenced by Freud and surrealists, who taught
him what he already knew: religion is abject nonsense, humanbeings positively enjoy
inflicting cruelty, and our species is prone to, and can coexist with, the most
grotesque absurdities. It also reveals the latent effects that The World War II had
on Ballard s psyche, as it forced him into life in the internment camp in his early
teens, where he experienced over two years of the helplessness of religion in
defiance of worldwide violence and the more animalistic particularities of people
cramped in a limited space. Ballard adheres to the motion of humanity degrading, no
matter if in an overpopulated place like the tower in High Rise or almost entirely
secluded house as in Enormous Space.
The Effect Of Weight Lifting And Its Effects On Basketball...
Weight Lifting and Its Effects on Basketball Players
Ten people gather around a center point waiting as two giants square off between
one another, clashing for the most valuable prize of the battle ahead: the basketball.
A game of strategy and high demands, basketball calls on both the body and the
mind in harmony in order to secure a victory. It calls on your body in many ways that
will strip you of energy unlike any other sport. Additionally, the game will demand a
high intelligence and acumen from the mind when making split second decisions.
Lifting weights can positively impact your body, physically and mentally;
furthermore, this training can then be applied onto the basketball court to help
increase the physical and mental attributes of a player. Being well equipped
physically for basketball provides many advantages when you apply it correctly.
Basketball is a unique sport that contains non stop movement in every moment.
The objective is simple: score more points than the other team. This is
accomplished by a constant burst of speed, agility, and quickness that combines
for fluid motions up and down the court. If a player is not trained properly, this
consistent activity can be extremely strenuous to their body. Plus, in a game of
basketball the gameplay is live until the ball goes out of bounds, there is a foul,
timeout called, or the end of a quarter. While this may seem like quite a few factors
to allow a dead ball and some rest time, they do not occur as much
Chain Of Command Paper
In this response, I will go into detail and explain three organizational principles that
are used to structure law enforcement agencies. Those principles that I will talk
about are Chain of Command, Unity of Command, and Span of Control I will
provide reasoning to backup my position for better understanding. Chain of
Command Chain of command, also referred to as a scalar principle, is an
organization mechanism that establishes formal lines of communication within a
police department (Cordner, 2016, p.116). I am sure that we all have heard the
term chain of command, but what does this exactly means. I am not a police
officer, however, I am a security officers. One thing in this industry that I ve
learned is that if I have any concerns that needs to be addressed the my first contact
will be the Sergeant. The chain of command is establishes a direct path between
every person in the department and the chief (Cordner, 2016,p. 116). The Sergeant
in my department is the first line supervisor to contact. In other cases the Chain of
Command is useful for when there are some orders that are given that only a
particular supervisor is needed, you will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A subordinate should not be expected to report to more than one superior or to take
orders from more than one superior (Cordner, 2016, p.119). In my opinion, I agree
that on subordinate shouldn t take orders from more than one superior. However,
these situations will begin to start confusion. From my personal experience, I was
in a situation where I was confused about whose instructions to actually follow.
Nevertheless, as your them being your supervisors you wouldn t want to ignore
their orders. I believe it s important to one directive because to follow one directive
more than more can be confusing. Nevertheless, if something was to go wrong, you

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Chemical Dyes
Natural dyeing has the advantage of having high diversity of rich and complex
colours. The advantage that different natural colours go well together and rarely clash
works in favour of merchant. The results that come out after using natural dyes are
even more vibrant.
The disadvantage is that natural colours require to be taken in large quantities when
compared with chemical dyes. Furthermore, it also takes a longer time which is not
the same case with chemical dyes. The cost of the natural is significantly higher;
however, time is required if one is growing their own plant dyes.
2.5.2 Synthetic Dyeing
The advantage of synthetic dyeing is that it is easy to find and can be used easily.
However, in contrast to this advantage, there are several disadvantages. The
synthetic dyes require more calculation and precise measurement, as a slight
mistake can lead to entire fabric being destroyed. One needs to have the right kind
of skills to search for colours that go well together. This can take up a ... Show more

Essay about Muslim Women in the Entertainment Industry
Muslim Women in the Entertainment Industry
Imagine a world immersed in beauty, wealth, gloss, and fame. I may be
generalizing, but lets just say it s a world in which you are born with a streaming
talent that most individuals could only dream of. You constantly have hordes of
spectators cheering your success and everyone wants to be your friend. The
greatest fear of most women seems to be being hideous or lacking capacity and
you have no idea what that feels like. Seems spectacular, doesn t it? If you are a

Taking part in movies that portray love scenes or god forbid, kissing, is horrifying
and according to the extremists in Islam, the women who indulge in these acts are no
better than trash. It is true that religious zealots are not the only ones who speak out
about women in the entertainment industry, but their voice is heard louder than
anyone else s in the Muslim world. Their voices are so loud in fact, that there is now
an undeclared set boundary that female singers and actresses are expected to
respect and obediently stay within in the Islamic society. Things such as
incorporating sexual moves in a dance or being l?? lyrics in an album or track,
depicting a sexually charged character a show, or even displaying skin while dancing
or performing are all extremely looked down upon by the Islamic community.
Although I am not endorsing all of these things (too much skin can get a bit
uncomfortable to watch), I am suggesting that these females are too restricted within
their own career by being told how to act and behave.
The intention of Islam is not to purposely discriminate against actresses and female
singers. In fact, its intentions are pure and honorable. The origin of dressing purely
and conservatively on television and in music came from the act of wearing the hijab,
or the headscarf. Intended to shield women from the wandering eyes of the evil
intentioned men, the act of wearing the scarf was initiated for the betterment

graduating, that backpack across Europe you and your other talked about late at

went against the minority and did something so purposeless that it made it all
worth it. As funny as this story is, Hawks is downright ridiculous in some part,
making this story light hearted and good. Where you bet one month on the open
road alone, and those hikes when no cars came and it was raining, would be a
downer on Hawks s mood, it did not show in the writing as he happily skipped
along though the story, bring fun and jokes to it all. A part never addressed was
how in this bet Hawk s lost money. The goal was to win the one hundred pounds
from Kevin, but after spending one hundred pounds on a sleeping bag, and 130 for
the fridge itself, the idea of purposeless mission comes to mind again as this bet
was not about the money, but the idea of hitchhiking around Ireland with a fridge.

How The Three Elements Of The Fraud Triangle Were
Present...
1.Like fuel, air and heat come together to make fire, like the likelihood of fraud
increases when the three elements of the fraud triangle come together. Analyze how
the three elements of the fraud triangle are important and how all three elements were
present in Helen s case.
The three elements of the fraud triangle are Motivation or Pressure, Opportunity and
Rationalization. After reading the case, it was revealed that all of the three elements
are present the Helen s fraudulent activities.
Motivation: This is a reason for why the fraudsters commit frauds. It provides the
basis for the individual to commit the unethical act. It is found that most times
greed relates to the fraud motives. The perception of a need or pressure is a key
factor which caused the fraudsters to commit a fraud. In Helen s case, it was found
that Helen had family problems. Her husband was a substance abuser; her children
were suffering from health and behavioral issues. Helen had also unpaid medical bill.
These are the factors that motivated Helen to commit a fraud. Although, Juan was
aware about Helen s problems and that she needed extra money, but he did not take
any control measures to prevent Helen s motivation to commit a crime.

Summary Of The Joy Luck Club
Paragraph 2 of page 9 fits well into The Joy Luck Club. During this passage, Jing
Mei Woo tells the story about why her mother, who passed away, moved to
America. So you can see how quickly Kweilin lost its beauty for me. I no longer
climbed the peaks to say, How lovely are these hills! I only wondered which hills
the Japanese had reached. I sat in the dark corners of my house with a baby under
each arm, waiting with nervous feet and scurried to the deep caves to hide like
wild animals. But you can t stay in the dark for so long. Something inside of you
starts to fade and you become like a starving person, crazy hungry for light.
Outside I could hear the bombing. Boom! Boom! And then the sound of raining
rocks. And inside I was no longer hungry for the cabbage or the turnips of the
hanging rock garden. I could only see the dripping bowels of an ancient hill that
might collapse on top of me. Can you imagine how it is, to want to be neither
inside nor outside, to want to be nowhere and disappear? (9) The paragraph talks
about the place where her mom, Suyuan Woo, hid from the Japanese. She talked
about how the place was once beautiful and gave her hope, but after the place was
attacked the beauty of it was strained away. In the beginning of the paragraph it
says, How lovely are these hills! but at the end it she states, I could only see the
dripping bowels of an ancient hill that might collapse on top of me. Can you imagine
how it is, to want to be neither inside or
Supreme Court Precedents
The Supreme Court does not have set terms. They usually stay in Supreme Court until
they die or retire. The Supreme court is important because they are the top court, they
deal with the constitutional and unconstitutional things, and involve others. They are
the top court with the most power. They are the highest court in the court systems.
All court case work their way up to the Supreme Court. They have e power of
judicial review. They are the ones who set the precedents in court for other future
cases in courts. They are also the biggest check system in the checks and balances.
They deal with all things constitutional and unconstitutional. They get to choose the
cases they hear. And they really only hear like 100 cases a year. And the
Mass Media Influence
Does mass media influence human lives so greatly that a self inflicted 48 hour free
period from the influences of mass media such as television, social media, internet,
recorded and live music such as the radio, could have a measurable effect? As my
personal journey into this experiment is laid out the conclusion will become clear.
Through removing forms of mass mediasuch as radio, television, internet and
newspapers I have learned that indeed mass media is not easy to get away from, and
it has a deep impact on mood, response, and critical thought processes. Through a 48
hour period, I consciously chose to remove all mass media influence, such as social
media, television, radio and recorded music, and in doing thus have come to some
rather startling conclusions about the severe and often silent effect that mass
media can have on our lives. This was a rather difficult task as most people never
take the time to consider where and how mass media influences our daily lives,
and how deep the impact can be. The escape from radio is difficult, the desire to
lose oneself in television after a hard day is overwhelming and the sheer amount that
we rely on social media is harder still to understand unless you do without it for a
lengthy period. While staying clear of these forms of obvious mass media such as
overt advertisements, or Facebook seemed easy enough, though one can never be
prepared to cope with the interruption of the thought processes and mood changes that
accompany this
Behind The Eucharist
For teenagers, active participation in the Eucharist can be a meaningful, purposeful
and conscious experience. In order for this to occur it is important that people of all
ages understand the meaning behind the Eucharist.
The Eucharist, or Holy Communion, is a rite and is considered by the majority of
Christian churches to be a sacrament. The New Testament asserts that during the Last
Supper, Jesus Christ gave his disciples bread and wine during the Passover meal,
and asked his followers to do this in memory of me . During this meal, Jesus Christ
referred to the bread as my body and the wine as my blood . Therefore, communion
or the Eucharistic celebration, asks Catholic Christians to recall and give thanks for
Christ s sacrifice of himself. The Catholic faith teaches that once sacred the bread and

1). For this reason, people of Catholic faith place significant importance on Eucharist,
as it is a defining concept of Catholicism, and a highly visible and tangible way in
which to celebrate and give thanks to Christ.
Ancient and contemporary approaches to Eucharist share similarities and
differences. While early Eucharist s were masses in people s homes or small
communities, and always involved a gathering, storytelling and a meal, the more
elaborate ceremonies celebrated in contemporary Catholic communities developed
long after (Harker and Phipps 2001, p. 347). In earlier times, and after the Last
supper when Christ revealed himself in the breaking of the bread to two disciples
(Luke 24:13 35, cited in The Eucharist Word Press, n.d.), it is thought that perhaps
Christ was teaching them that to partake in a meal in memory of him, he was
teaching them that he would be with them as the Risen One (The Eucharist Word
Press, n.d.). These simple celebrations and acts of remembering served as the basis
for the more elaborate rites in contemporary Catholic practice. These include an
introduction, opening prayer,
Sex Worker On The Red Light District
If you disrespect prostitutes, you disrespect all women said Metje Blaak, advocate
and union member for sex workers within the red light district (qtd. In Cruz). And,
she is right. Being able to rent women allows men to feel as if they are in
possession of the workers. Many times, feelings of possession can lead to sexual
harassment toward women on, and off, the district by tourist feeling as though they
are entitled to a women s body.
That being said, prostitution in Amsterdam is much different than prostitution
anywhere else in the world. Being able to understand what a sex worker on the red
light district encounters on a day to day basis, as well as the history of prostitution
can give one a better understanding of the controversial ground that is the Red Light
District (Aalbers). Being of moral and political controversy, it is no shock that the
district leaves such an impression on natives and tourists alike.
Amsterdam legalized prostitution in 2000. The objective of legalization was to
ensure that the government could monitor working condition and wages of those
who claim prostitute on their tax form (Cruz). Prostitution was readily available in
Amsterdam long before its legalization. The government chose to legalize the activity
to protect the women, as well as establish a unique tourist environment that would
drive the economy to where it is today. The overall culture found within the red light
district praises sexual empowerment of all genders and
Analysis Of The Hotel Rebuttal Of The Information
In response to the hotels rebuttal of the information I provided
Use of prior grievance settlements improper :
I would like to point out that the employer is in violation of the very thing they are
accusing the union of. If you look at the employer s EXHIBIT 4(A) Mr. Gleason
attempts to use a document that supposedly shows a limitation of back pay to 60
days, however, that class action grievance never made it to arbitration, which leads
me to believe if we were to look at the actual settlement letter it would state: this
agreement is non precedent setting and shall not be used or introduced in any
mediation or arbitration as with every other settlement we agree to outside of binding
arbitration.
The employer also states: The Union s use of the prior settlements in its presentation
to the Mediator is that it may adversely affect the Hotel s ability to resolve cases in
the future. The hotels use of a case that was settled outside arbitration was referenced,
when Gary Au s case, regarding the same issue, was settled through binding
arbitration, with no limitation on the back pay.
As well as: It is often in everyone s best interests to resolve a matter rather than spend
the time and money on litigation. The hotel states they settle cases, often paying more
money than they believe they would have paid had we gone to arbitration. The union
holds this same position as well, the Union has accepted lower settlements than we
believe would have been achieved through
Sarah Ruhl s Eurydice
In the 2003 play Eurydice , Sarah Ruhl reconstructs the classic Greek myth,
Orpheus, into a postmodernist body of work offering a new way of perceiving their
love. The death of Sarah s father highly influenced the playwriting and main themes
in the play as she wrote the play in order to cope with the loss of her father and help
her continue her adulthood without him. Written in the perspective of Eurydice, the
play follows her insecurities from life to death and the memories she holds. Sarah
Ruhl s creation of minimalist structures and absurd interactions furthers the overall
theme that one s love can hold deep value, but on the contrary can also hold one
back from life experiences, life opportunities, and overall personal growth.

Orpheus. Eurydice? Eurydice! (349 350)
Not only did she leave her husband and wedding, she follows a strange man
claiming to have a letter from her father. Instead of celebrating one of the happiest
day of her adulthood, she clings to the love she has for her father and the
opportunity to rekindle past memories with her dead father. Eurydice s absurd
choices and morals made it impossible for her to move on and progress as an adult.
The result of this, is her unfortunate death and trip to the underworld. Her death
illustrates how one s love can hold an extreme amount of value, but one s love can
also cause one to lose all the opportunities life has to offer and opportunities of
personal growth. Upon her arrival to the underworld, she was stripped of her
memory and reunited with her father. Her father then goes on to help her regain her
memory and he teaches her how to comprehend again. She begins to regain her
memories and her father helps her read the letters Orpheus sends to her. Orpheus
arrives in the underworld to rescue her and he can, but under strange circumstances.
When walking he out of the underworld and back into the land of the living, he
cannot turn around. An example of absurdity is present in the

Irritating In On The Road
The most irritating part of On the Road is at the end, when Dean leaves Sal,
delirious with dysentery, alone in Mexico to return to New York. After several
days of fever induced unconsciousness, Sal wakes to find Dean preparing to leave.
Sal is incredulous and deeply hurt, but Dean simply smoothes it over with sweet
talk, fixes his blanket, and leaves without any valid explanation. Even once Sal has
realized what slimy action that was, he continues justifying it to himself,
concluding he just does not understand how complex Dean s life is. While typical
of Dean and not at all unexpected, this is tremendously disappointing. From the
reader s perspective, this is a very lackluster ending. Both anti climactic and devoid
of character development, it leaves one to question the purpose of everything prior.
In a typical novel, there is a rising action, a climax, and a resolution, whereas here it
is only Dean, doing the exact same thing Dean has always done, while Sal quietly
accepts it, even romanticizing it as complexity. In several hundred pages, everything
is relatively the same as it was in the beginning. They have shared adventures and
experiences, but none of the growth one would expect to come from such a journey....

Although Sal can be irritating and entitled, the reader has followed him through
many challenges and developed some level of attachment to him. Despite watching
Dean walk out on numerous people throughout the novel, including his children,
Sal really appears to have believed that their bond was different and that Dean
would never throw him away, as he has done to everyone else. It is sad and painful,
both that Dean does walk away so callously, and that it took Sal so long to realize he
would. Furthermore, Sal still glorifies Dean, settling on the notion that he only did
what he had
Colonel Shaw Adjustment In A Separate Peace
When Thomas hears of Shaw being appointed to lead the first regiment of colored
men, he declares himself the first volunteer. Now, this seemed odd to me at the
time because I was aware of his lack of military and labor experience, however, he
was not doing it because he was a soldier, but because he wanted to be there to
support his friend who has been good to him all this time. When he joins the
regiment, he still sees himself and Colonel Shaw as friends, but he quickly learns of
the dividing ranks in the militarypreventing his friendship with Colonel Shaw.
Because of the ranks, Colonel Shaw forces himself and Major Forbes to cut the
friendship ties with Thomas because Thomas is in fact enlisted and under them. This

A social system is a physical, social or cultural environment to which people belong

Reference groups are groups that serve as frames of reference for individuals in their

American Buffalo Research Paper
The taxonomy for a buffalo and a cow are very similar. Depending on what type of
buffalo depends on what species it is. For the American buffalo, the specie is
bison. Bison is a common meat for many Americans because it is considered to be
leaner than cow. Because the buffalo and cow are so similar, the lactation and
physiology aspect are similar with few changes. Buffalos tend to have longer teats
and thicker teats. In buffalos, the milk is stored in the secretory tissue even after a
10 to 12 hour milking interval (Borghese et al., 2007). The milk must be removed
completely so the milk production will not decrease and apoptosis will not take
place. When the issue of disease comes up, many people will say mastitis is large
problem for mammals classified as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also when the buffalo releases milk, it can clean the bacteria that accumulated
inside the teat post dip that got trapped in the keratin lining. When mastitis is
prevalence, it comes in two forms; subclinical and clinical. When a cow gets
mastitis, the somatic cell counts increase which causes a decrease in milk yield
(Sahin et al., 2017). Milk ejection is important for the buffalo. Certain events
trigger the body to release milk. Presence of the calf during milking, feeding
during milking, manual udder stimulation, and oxytocin ejection are reasons for
the buffalo to release milk. Buffalos have a low proportion of cisternal milk and
needs these premilking stimulations to receive the milk from the alveoli
compartments. It is important to keep records of milk flow and milk ejection.
Milk flow varies between species and environmental factors play a role in it. Buffalos
tend to have a lower milk flow rate than cows because of low milk yield. To increase
milk yield, the buffalo needs to have a dry period. The buffalo needs about two to
three months to be dried off. The dry period should begin when yield falls below 2.5

Heroism In Odysseus
An ancient Greek epic sung by Homer, The Odyssey explains Odysseus journey home
after the Trojan War. Throughout his journey, the reader notices many aspects of
heroism, power, and leadership. According to Google, a hero portrays an admired
person, idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. One does
not need to inherit wealth or power to display heroism. Instead, a person must obtain
kindness and care, support, and think about each other. Illuminating selflessness and
humbleness are additional qualities many heroes depict. Furthermore, heroes master
the art of persuasion, make necessary sacrifices, and act accordingly for the
betterment of society and life. Eumaios and AntГnoos convey the claim that every

Though he might lose his life while helping Odysseus defeat the suitors, one must
recognize that Eumaios has never been unfaithful to Odysseus and the court of
Ithaka. After many years, he still supports Odysseus and decides to fight alongside
him and bring goodness to the island (Ithaka). Showing courage with his support,
Eumaios and the other men defeat the suitors in a heroic matter. Therefore, Eumaios
illuminates the idea that a human being does have the potential to portray heroism.
AntГnoos shows the idea that whether good or evil, every human has a chance to
portray themselves as a hero. Throughout the epic, there are some examples in which
the evil AntГnoos supports his fellow suitors. When Telemakhus begins to blame the
suitors for snatching the court of Ithaka, causing damage to their home, and defying
the value of Xenia, AntГnoos argues, You want to shame us, and humiliate us, but...
it is your own dear, incomparably cunning mother. For three years now... she has been
breaking the hearts... (Book II). Using the art of persuasion, AntГnoos describes the
pain all the suitors fell due to the fact that Penelope has not chosen a suitor. Though a
hero fights for a beneficial cause, AntГnoos support towards the other suitors displays
his heroic side in which others can believe and trust him for. However, due to his
carelessness towards some people, his evil side is revealed more than his heroic
actions.

regarding the proper way in which one conducts themselves. Some lessons within
Malory s tales are more straight forward compared to others. Some lessons appear to

more complicated. Malory or a character within the tale will state something to be

lesson is indeed more complicated. An example of a lesson being more complicated
then it initially appears to be is the Pentecostal Oath. The Pentecostal Oath is the
Issue of Slavery on a Micro and Macro Level Depicted in...
Slavery is a gripping issue that can be viewed through an individual s experiences or
through the general experiences of all those affected. The book The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain does just that. Readers see a micro perspective
through Jim s experiences and a macro perspective through the constant illustrations
of slaverythroughout the book. Twain examines the issue of Southern slavery in
his novel from a macro and micro perspective in that he compares and contrasts Jim
s personal experiences such as being viewed as property, the desire for freedom, and
his compassionate feelings to those of other slaves in general. On a macro level,
slaves have always been viewed as property, usually in the same terms as those...

This idea comes into play later in the story when Huck feels guilt for stealing Miss
Watson s property which he later overlooks as he starts to see Jim as a human
being and not as a piece of property. The macro and micro perspectives on slaves
being viewed as property have much in common. Both slaves, in general, and Jim
either are sold or have the intent to be sold just like any other material object.
History and Twain s narrative both show opinions from certain sides that slaves
aren t people; they are tools to complete labor. Only on a micro level do readers
start to see that slaves have the emotions and personal feelings that people do, and
solely there do readers start to see a tool become more and more like a human.
Slaves as a whole have always worked towards becoming free, whether it be
through their hard work, buying their freedom, or even escaping from their
owners. When Africans were first brought over on ships as indentured servants,
they were able to work from four to seven years...then become free (Sylvester).
Some slaves were also allowed to buy their way out of freedom from money they
had made. Slaves always sought a quicker way out though, which led many to
attempt an escape. Most escaped slaves were determined to reach the North states,
where slavery was not allowed. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn revolves around

How Did China Influence The Culture Of The Tang Dynasty
The Qin dynasty united China after years of wars and their goal was for that
unification to be permanent even though their dynasty ended after only a few years.
Four hundred years later with the Tang dynasty in 618 China reached a highpoint in
their history, but they were ruled by people that were not ethnically Chinese. The

Explain Why Akhenaten Moved His Capital to Amarna
Historians views as to why Akhenaten moved his capital to Amarna are distinctly
contrasted, and the suggestions are numerous. These include three predominant
theories promoted by various historians with divergent views of Akhenaten. These
theories are all conceptually based on the concept of Akhenaten using Amarna to
develop his religious ideals. Firstly, it is believed that having his revolutionary
religious reforms reached their goals; Akhenatenemployed the city of Amarna as an
escape from Amun dominated Thebes. This would remove the distractions of other
Gods and Deities still around in Thebes, and leave people free to worship the Aten.

Breasted says that Akhenaten moved his capital to Amarna endeavouring to displace
it by the nationalism which had preceded it for twenty centuries. This further
illustrates the possibility of a feud between the two aspects of Government. Aldred
resolutely rejects this suggestion, saying The idea of a struggle between an
enlightened and progressive king on the one side and a reactionary and scheming
priesthood on the other, will simply not stand up to closer scrutiny . Aldred also
suggests that a mere technicality in theology was all that separated Akhenaten s
religion from that of Egyptian traditionalists . According to Aldred, the priesthood
and the administration were as indissolubly linked as they ever had been . However
he says clear distinction of power still remained, as demonstrated by Akhenaten s
ability to subsequently reduce the status of the priesthood, his mere surrogates . This

Term Limits
Living in the present and looking back at the past, we as citizens see what has
worked and what can be improved; Congress is a good example of this. Some may
say that Congress is a failure and some may be happy and proud of the way it
functions and runs our country. For those who do not approve of it, the idea is to
start fresh and get new ideas, people and habits into office. With the way Congress
works today, that may not be the easiest tasks. In order to make changes in
Congress, time is needed; a significant change cannot be made over night and expect
it to run smoothly. One of the ways to bring change and settle the debate of whether
or not to restart Congress is to set term limits on congressional members. There
should be term... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pork barrel spending, special interest of their own state, and how can they make
themselves look good are thing that will be on their mind at some point. Setting term
limits would allow Congress to become more of a citizen Congress because more
everyday people, not just the wealthy, would be running for office
(balancedpolitics.org). New Politian s would not have time to find loop holes or
exploit the system because they would be focusing on what they need to get done
in order to make their constituents happy. One of the major benefits to term limits is
the potential for new ideas rolling through Congress, and Politian s with a more
focused mind set. The founding fathers did their part of making sure no one person
is given too much power by ensuring that the United States has checks and balances.
The 22nd Amendment has contributed to the checks and balances by limiting
presidents to two terms in office. Term limits should also be in place for
congressional members. This may be another way to ensure no congressional
member ever has too much power within the government. Candidates would be
running for the purpose to the serve people and not to just benefit themselves. Term
limits would also stop the political reward and power abuse within Congress, leading
to committees being assigned to individuals based on merit and their expertise to
make informed decisions. Doing all
Themes In Stockton s Lady Or The Tiger
If in love with someone, would it hurt more to see them live in happiness with
another or watch them die? In Stockton s Lady or the Tiger, there lives a semi
barbaric king, and his way of charging certain accused men, guilty or not, was
having them choose between two doors, one with a lady behind it and one with a
hungry tiger. The daughter of the king loves a man, but the king finds out and
charged the man to choose between the doors. The lover of the princess seeks her
out in the crowd to see which door he should choose, but the answer remains open
for the reader to decide. The princess loves this man and she wonders which would
hurt more, watching the man die or watching him live his own happily ever after
with another girl? The princess motioned to the door with the tiger behind it
because she loved the man and could not bear to see him marry someone else, she
did not shy away from the barbarism of her people, and she knew that no matter
which door opened she could not live with the one she loved.
First, the princess despised the girl behind the door because she believed that the girl
tried to take the love of her life from her, so she did not want him to open that door.
The princess would watch in horror because in her mind, she saw her love open
the door with the tiger, but more often she saw him open the door to reveal a
woman she hated. The princess had seen this girl watching the man she loved and
immediately hated her. The girl was lovely, but she had dared to raise her eyes to
the loved one of the princess; and, with all the intensity of the savage blood
transmitted to her through long lines of wholly barbaric ancestors, she hated the
woman who blushed and trembled behind that silent door (5). The princess did not
want to watch her love die, but even more she did not want to see him get married
to a person she hates. Even though the princess imagined her love opening the door
with the tiger she had imagined even more his opening the door with the lady
waiting. But how much oftener had she seen him at the other door? (6). To the
princess it hurt her more to watch the man she loves marry a girl she hates. Why
should he live, happily avoiding death, whilst she lived in the agony of knowing he
Girl Scouts
Girls Scouts
The Girl Scout of the USA mission is Girl Scouting builds girls of courage,
confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. This past March was
a hundred years since girl scouts was started, thanks to Ms. Low. On March 16,

the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. With the goal of
bringing girls out of isolated home environments and into community service and the
open air, Girl Scouts hiked, played basketball, went on camping trips, learned how to

Environmental Economic Impact of Pollution in the...
The Chesapeake Bay is the nation s largest estuary with six major tributaries, the
James, the Potomac, the Susquehanna, the Patuxent, the York, and the Rappahannock
Rivers, feeding into the bay from various locations in Maryland, Virginia,
Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia (Chemical Contaminants in the
Chesapeake BayWorkshop Discussion 1). These areas depend on the Bay as both an
environmentaland an economic resource. Throughout the last 15 years the
Chesapeake Bay has suffered from elevated levels of pollution. Nitrogen and
phosphorous from wastewater treatment plants, farmland, air pollution, and
development all lead to reduced water clarity and lowered oxygen levels, which harm
fish, crabs, oysters and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of this program was to reduce the level of nitrogen and phosphorous
flowing to the Bay by 40% by the year 2000, from their 1985 levels (Blankenship
2). The first step in this program was to reduce the amount of nutrient pollution
from point sources (end of the pipe) such as wastewater treatment facilities that feed
into the many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay (The Chesapeake Bay Watershed
1). However, the results of these cleanup efforts were not enough to reach the goal
of the program. Therefore, the areas involved now had to target the non point
sources of nitrogen and phosphorous. The non point sources are storm water run off
from agricultural and developed sites, air pollution, and the development of sensitive
forests that act as buffers for tributaries and the Bay (1). The Chesapeake Bay
Preservation Act of 1989 took aim at these sources in Tidewater Virginiaby requiring
resource management practices in the use and development of environmentally
sensitive land (1). The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Ordinance of 1991 also
took aim at these non point sources by designating environmentally sensitive areas in
Virginia Beach as Resource Protection Areas and Resource Management Areas which
are intended to protect the integrity of the lands that effect the Chesapeake Bay (2).
The States involved also
Unconditional Love In For An Inked Daughter By Jane
Wheeler
Comparison and Contrast of unconditional love The poem for an Inked Daughter
by Jane Wheeler describes in vivid detail how much she dislikes her daughters phase
but will always love her. i carry your heart with me by E. E. Cummings was Published
in 1952 the poem is about the fear he holds of losing his love, but no matter what, he
will always carry his beloved s heart wherever he goes. While both poems are
interesting and are about unconditional love, they use different diction, form, and
literary devices describing their feelings towards their treasured person. Both poems
are themed about their unbreakable bond of love and are free verse. Because both
poems use I they are 1st person point of view. Most poems have repetition as these

  • 2. The Elizabethan Er The Golden Age Of English History Jamie Berquist Carolyn Crumpler World History (E Block) March 13, 2015 The Elizabethan Era is depicted as the golden age in English history. This age was marked as a renaissance which inspired English exploration, international expansion and naval triumph over England s hated Spanish enemies ( Elizabethan Era. ). Queen Elizabeth I was queen from 1558 until her death in 1603, marking the Elizabethan Era. Her father was King Henry VIII, who ruled from 1509 until his death in 1547, and was succeeded by Elizabeth s siblings Edward and Mary. Her father s reign was shaped by his separation from the Catholic Church, which sparked years of religious controversy in England. Queen Elizabeth s mother was Protestant, but Elizabeth s predecessor and sister Mary was Catholic. Navigating the religious instability that resulted from these religious changes was one of Elizabeth s great obstacles when obtaining the throne. Despite such challenges, Elizabeth I s reign was one of the more constructive periods in English history, due to her success in maintaining British dominance in foreign affairs, her patronage of literature and music, and her stabilization of religious conflict between Catholics and Protestants ( The Greenhaven Encyclopedia of The Renaissance ). Queen Elizabeth had great success in maintaining British dominance in foreign affairs, including the colonies in America, and leading the defeat of the Spanish Armada. She encouraged the English settled new colonies in the
  • 3. How Roman Art Became Christian Art When Christianity was introduced as a successor to Judaism, Roman Empire s official religion was still Paganism. As a result Christianity was a mystery religion in Roman Empire before it became an official Religion. In this period we do not see any churches, and people used to gather in a secret place in order to pray. These places were like ordinary homes, but they changed inside, so it could be used for religion purposes. A really good example of it is Dura Europos house church. It has a simple architecture, as we can see they even broke the wall inside the house to make it bigger as to serve gatherings. After Constantine declared Christianityas an official religion, everything changed. In this essay I aim to discuss how Roman art became Christian Art. In other words, I will explain how Romans used their art and style as a formula to create art based on Christianity principals. This essay starts with the use of Roman architecture to practice Christianity. Then I will write about how the image of the Roman emperors became the inspiration for the image of the Jesus. Finally I will discuss the way Romans used the same iconography and narrative they already had as a formula to image the bible. As we know, Romans were so religious, and they paid homage to their gods with building gigantic temples and statues, which now we may know many of them as wonders of the ancient world. Constantine was going to build churches in his empire as a place to practice Christianity; they

  • 5. Public Service Broadcasting In Australia There is no doubt that the proliferation of digital media has placed great stress on the already fragile status of public service broadcasting (Miragliotta and Errington, 2012). The convergent media environment alongside restraints on funding and skeptic views regarding their necessity have posed great challenges altering the role of public service broadcasters in the 21st century. However, there are many signs pointing toward a renewed government commitment within the Australian sector, to suggest that what the digital revolution has brought is not only challenges but also opportunities (Spigelman, 2013). By examining the recent movements of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in addition to specific reference of the Special Broadcasting Company (SBS) this essay shall seek to address the current debate surrounding the necessity of public service broadcasters in the 21st century. To this day, the charter written by John Reith, the first director general of the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) in 1926, is believed to have established the principles governing public service broadcasting. John Reith first set out his ideas about how public... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much like traditional forms of media, public service broadcasting was feeling the effects of the Internet on their audience. Skepticism from the government, commercial media and the general public posed questions surrounding the necessity for the ABC to exist in the 21st century arguing that in such a convergent age of media production and content, the original principles governing public service broadcasting were both inadequate and inconsistent. In order for the ABC to combat these challenges, associated with pessimistic questioning, the corporation underwent significant restructuring of their internal operations with cuts to budgets and jobs, and reviews to increase their internal efficiency (Miragliotta and Errington,
  • 6. Women And Female Characters In Homer s Medea Another of Greco Roman mythology s strongest and most prominent female characters is Medea. Throughout her different iterations, Medea is shown to be closely associated with the female ability to give and withhold life. First of all, she was a disciple of Hecate who, aside from being the goddess of the moon, witchcraft, and crossroads (Brooks, Lesson 12: Perseus and Demeter), is described in Hesiod s Theogony as a nurse of the young (455) and having the ability to increase[e] stock in a pen [...] if she wills in her heart she can multiply them or make them diminish (446 449). Consistent with Hecate s abilities, Medeas plot against Pelias, described in Ovid s Metamorphoses, revolves around her ability to give life by return[ing] the vigor and bloom of youth (7.215). Additionally, in Euripides Medea, she tells King Aigeus that she will put an end to [his] childlessness (716) and help him beget heirs of [his] blood (717) in order to ensure that Athens will grant her asylum after executing her revenge on Jason (679 758). Overall, Medea is shown to be a woman with great control over life. However, she does not only grant it, she also exercises her ability to take it away. Medea kills her own children as a part of her plan to take revenge on Jason, stating that if die they must, I shall slay them, who gave them birth (Euripides 63). She also kills Creon s daughter, stating that never shall [Jason] beget children by his new bride (Euripides, Medea 803 804), which results in a complete loss of all his current and potential heirs. Ultimately, the play ends with Medea escaping without punishment for her actions, and this fact seems to affirm a mother s rights over the life they have given. A similar situation can be found in Ovid s Metamorphoses, where Procne kills her son and serves him to her husband, Tereus, for dinner as retribution for the rape and mutilation of her sister (6.620 674). It is a particularly fitting punishment as it violates Tereus body in a similar manner, by forcing him to contain something unwanted, and allows Procne and Philomela to retake the control that was stolen from them. Not only do both mothers kill their children the one thing they have an inherent right to control

Autie was almost or was fully worshipped by his other sibling and especially was spoiled by his parents at a very young age. This mindset was driven deep into Autie s mind that he could probably get away with anything that he did bad or great. Wert goes on by saying that Autie was bright but was a bad boy in school , just because he wasn t willing to put the work in, in the classroom. Eventually Custer wanted to join the army mainly this being the only place in life that interested him, in June 1857 Custer enrolled into West Point, but this went as well as his schooling in his younger years. • 12. Paraesophageal Hernia Research Paper This week I took care of a patient who had surgery for a paraesophageal hernia. She was three days post operation by the time I started providing care. By this time, she only had a urinary catheter and g tube. The g tube was exciting because I was able to learn how to pass medications through it and run TPN. However, this patient provided more of a challenge than learning how to properly care for a g tube. This patient also had dementia. She was disoriented to time, place, and situation. While I have taken care of multiple people with dementia in various stages, I found parts of caring for her more difficult. The part of care that I found the hardest was patient teaching. Every time the patient looked down she would see the tubes. She asked what they were for and I explained that they were to help with feeding until her throat felt better and to collect her urine. This was difficult for her because she did not remember getting a surgery. She would look at the tubes for a while and then say she needed to pee. I would then explain to her that the bag was collecting her urine and she didn t have to worry about going to the bathroom. The feeling she had was just the pressure from the catheter. • 13. Animalism In The Catastrophist For him, the possibility of any mutation or metamorphosis was to be taken for granted, if not indeed welcomed, as was the contingency that, dead sun or no dead sun, the terrestrial globe could very readily be imagined after we re gone, claims Christopher Hitchens, an English author, literary critic and journalist, in his article The Catastrophist, where he comments on the pattern which James Graham Ballard takes for the course of his works, each one of them showing a depressing and deranged picture of humanity prone to animalistic and self destructive actions. Hitchens describes Ballard as heavily influenced by Freud and surrealists, who taught him what he already knew: religion is abject nonsense, humanbeings positively enjoy inflicting cruelty, and our species is prone to, and can coexist with, the most grotesque absurdities. It also reveals the latent effects that The World War II had on Ballard s psyche, as it forced him into life in the internment camp in his early teens, where he experienced over two years of the helplessness of religion in defiance of worldwide violence and the more animalistic particularities of people cramped in a limited space. Ballard adheres to the motion of humanity degrading, no matter if in an overpopulated place like the tower in High Rise or almost entirely secluded house as in Enormous Space.
  • 14. The Effect Of Weight Lifting And Its Effects On Basketball... Weight Lifting and Its Effects on Basketball Players Ten people gather around a center point waiting as two giants square off between one another, clashing for the most valuable prize of the battle ahead: the basketball. A game of strategy and high demands, basketball calls on both the body and the mind in harmony in order to secure a victory. It calls on your body in many ways that will strip you of energy unlike any other sport. Additionally, the game will demand a high intelligence and acumen from the mind when making split second decisions. Lifting weights can positively impact your body, physically and mentally; furthermore, this training can then be applied onto the basketball court to help increase the physical and mental attributes of a player. Being well equipped physically for basketball provides many advantages when you apply it correctly. Basketball is a unique sport that contains non stop movement in every moment. The objective is simple: score more points than the other team. This is accomplished by a constant burst of speed, agility, and quickness that combines for fluid motions up and down the court. If a player is not trained properly, this consistent activity can be extremely strenuous to their body. Plus, in a game of basketball the gameplay is live until the ball goes out of bounds, there is a foul, timeout called, or the end of a quarter. While this may seem like quite a few factors to allow a dead ball and some rest time, they do not occur as much

Chain of Command Chain of command, also referred to as a scalar principle, is an organization mechanism that establishes formal lines of communication within a police department (Cordner, 2016, p.116). Taking part in movies that portray love scenes or god forbid, kissing, is horrifying and according to the extremists in Islam, the women who indulge in these acts are no better than trash. It is true that religious zealots are not the only ones who speak out about women in the entertainment industry, but their voice is heard louder than anyone else s in the Muslim world. Their voices are so loud in fact, that there is now an undeclared set boundary that female singers and actresses are expected to respect and obediently stay within in the Islamic society. Things such as incorporating sexual moves in a dance or being l?? lyrics in an album or track, depicting a sexually charged character a show, or even displaying skin while dancing or performing are all extremely looked down upon by the Islamic community. Although I am not endorsing all of these things (too much skin can get a bit uncomfortable to watch), I am suggesting that these females are too restricted within their own career by being told how to act and behave. The intention of Islam is not to purposely discriminate against actresses and female singers. In fact, its intentions are pure and honorable. The origin of dressing purely and conservatively on television and in music came from the act of wearing the hijab, or the headscarf. Intended to shield women from the wandering eyes of the evil intentioned men, the act of wearing the scarf was initiated for the betterment

For Tony Hawks, he went against the minority and did something so purposeless that it made it all worth it. As funny as this story is, Hawks is downright ridiculous in some part, making this story light hearted and good. Where you bet one month on the open road alone, and those hikes when no cars came and it was raining, would be a downer on Hawks s mood, it did not show in the writing as he happily skipped along though the story, bring fun and jokes to it all. A part never addressed was how in this bet Hawk s lost money. The goal was to win the one hundred pounds from Kevin, but after spending one hundred pounds on a sleeping bag, and 130 for the fridge itself, the idea of purposeless mission comes to mind again as this bet was not about the money, but the idea of hitchhiking around Ireland with a fridge. The three elements of the fraud triangle are Motivation or Pressure, Opportunity and Rationalization. After reading the case, it was revealed that all of the three elements are present the Helen s fraudulent activities. Motivation: This is a reason for why the fraudsters commit frauds. It provides the basis for the individual to commit the unethical act. It is found that most times greed relates to the fraud motives. The perception of a need or pressure is a key factor which caused the fraudsters to commit a fraud. In Helen s case, it was found that Helen had family problems. Her husband was a substance abuser; her children were suffering from health and behavioral issues. Helen had also unpaid medical bill. These are the factors that motivated Helen to commit a fraud. Although, Juan was aware about Helen s problems and that she needed extra money, but he did not take any control measures to prevent Helen s motivation to commit a crime. Opportunity: It is one of the elements of the fraud triangle. It may be defined as an environment of favorable condition that allows the fraud to be committed (Tessier, n.d.). In the Helen s case, it was found that she had this opportunity which helped her to

Mass Media Influence Does mass media influence human lives so greatly that a self inflicted 48 hour free period from the influences of mass media such as television, social media, internet, recorded and live music such as the radio, could have a measurable effect? As my personal journey into this experiment is laid out the conclusion will become clear. Through removing forms of mass mediasuch as radio, television, internet and newspapers I have learned that indeed mass media is not easy to get away from, and it has a deep impact on mood, response, and critical thought processes. Through a 48 hour period, I consciously chose to remove all mass media influence, such as social media, television, radio and recorded music, and in doing thus have come to some rather startling conclusions about the severe and often silent effect that mass media can have on our lives. This was a rather difficult task as most people never take the time to consider where and how mass media influences our daily lives, and how deep the impact can be. The escape from radio is difficult, the desire to lose oneself in television after a hard day is overwhelming and the sheer amount that we rely on social media is harder still to understand unless you do without it for a lengthy period. While staying clear of these forms of obvious mass media such as overt advertisements, or Facebook seemed easy enough, though one can never be prepared to cope with the interruption of the thought processes and mood changes that accompany this

In order for this to occur it is important that people of all ages understand the meaning behind the Eucharist. The Eucharist, or Holy Communion, is a rite and is considered by the majority of Christian churches to be a sacrament. The New Testament asserts that during the Last Supper, Jesus Christ gave his disciples bread and wine during the Passover meal, and asked his followers to do this in memory of me . During this meal, Jesus Christ referred to the bread as my body and the wine as my blood . Therefore, communion or the Eucharistic celebration, asks Catholic Christians to recall and give thanks for Christ s sacrifice of himself. For this reason, people of Catholic faith place significant importance on Eucharist, as it is a defining concept of Catholicism, and a highly visible and tangible way in which to celebrate and give thanks to Christ. Ancient and contemporary approaches to Eucharist share similarities and differences. While early Eucharist s were masses in people s homes or small communities, and always involved a gathering, storytelling and a meal, the more elaborate ceremonies celebrated in contemporary Catholic communities developed long after (Harker and Phipps 2001, p. 347). In earlier times, and after the Last supper when Christ revealed himself in the breaking of the bread to two disciples (Luke 24:13 35, cited in The Eucharist Word Press, n.d.), it is thought that perhaps Christ was teaching them that to partake in a meal in memory of him, he was teaching them that he would be with them as the Risen One (The Eucharist Word Press, n.d.). These simple celebrations and acts of remembering served as the basis for the more elaborate rites in contemporary Catholic practice. These include an introduction, opening prayer,

The objective of legalization was to ensure that the government could monitor working condition and wages of those who claim prostitute on their tax form (Cruz). Prostitution was readily available in Amsterdam long before its legalization. When mastitis is prevalence, it comes in two forms; subclinical and clinical. When a cow gets mastitis, the somatic cell counts increase which causes a decrease in milk yield (Sahin et al., 2017). Milk ejection is important for the buffalo. Certain events trigger the body to release milk. • 40. Explain Why Akhenaten Moved His Capital to Amarna Historians views as to why Akhenaten moved his capital to Amarna are distinctly contrasted, and the suggestions are numerous. These include three predominant theories promoted by various historians with divergent views of Akhenaten. These theories are all conceptually based on the concept of Akhenaten using Amarna to develop his religious ideals. Firstly, it is believed that having his revolutionary religious reforms reached their goals; Akhenatenemployed the city of Amarna as an escape from Amun dominated Thebes. This would remove the distractions of other Gods and Deities still around in Thebes, and leave people free to worship the Aten. Secondly it is suggested that Akhenaten repositioned his capital to Amarna in order to escape the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Akhenaten s ancestry, together with his claimed unlimited personal force of character suggested he would not allow himself to be set aside by the priesthood. Breasted says that Akhenaten moved his capital to Amarna endeavouring to displace it by the nationalism which had preceded it for twenty centuries. This further illustrates the possibility of a feud between the two aspects of Government. Aldred resolutely rejects this suggestion, saying The idea of a struggle between an enlightened and progressive king on the one side and a reactionary and scheming priesthood on the other, will simply not stand up to closer scrutiny . Aldred also suggests that a mere technicality in theology was all that separated Akhenaten s religion from that of Egyptian traditionalists . According to Aldred, the priesthood and the administration were as indissolubly linked as they ever had been . However he says clear distinction of power still remained, as demonstrated by Akhenaten s ability to subsequently reduce the status of the priesthood, his mere surrogates . This is a transparent contradiction, Aldred
  • 41. Term Limits Living in the present and looking back at the past, we as citizens see what has worked and what can be improved; Congress is a good example of this. Some may say that Congress is a failure and some may be happy and proud of the way it functions and runs our country. For those who do not approve of it, the idea is to start fresh and get new ideas, people and habits into office. With the way Congress works today, that may not be the easiest tasks. In order to make changes in Congress, time is needed; a significant change cannot be made over night and expect it to run smoothly. One of the ways to bring change and settle the debate of whether or not to restart Congress is to set term limits on congressional members. There should be term... Setting term limits would allow Congress to become more of a citizen Congress because more everyday people, not just the wealthy, would be running for office (balancedpolitics.org). New Politian s would not have time to find loop holes or exploit the system because they would be focusing on what they need to get done in order to make their constituents happy. One of the major benefits to term limits is the potential for new ideas rolling through Congress, and Politian s with a more focused mind set. The founding fathers did their part of making sure no one person is given too much power by ensuring that the United States has checks and balances. The 22nd Amendment has contributed to the checks and balances by limiting presidents to two terms in office. Term limits should also be in place for congressional members. This may be another way to ensure no congressional member ever has too much power within the government. Candidates would be running for the purpose to the serve people and not to just benefit themselves. Term limits would also stop the political reward and power abuse within Congress, leading to committees being assigned to individuals based on merit and their expertise to make informed decisions. • 42. Themes In Stockton s Lady Or The Tiger If in love with someone, would it hurt more to see them live in happiness with another or watch them die? In Stockton s Lady or the Tiger, there lives a semi barbaric king, and his way of charging certain accused men, guilty or not, was having them choose between two doors, one with a lady behind it and one with a hungry tiger. The daughter of the king loves a man, but the king finds out and charged the man to choose between the doors. The lover of the princess seeks her out in the crowd to see which door he should choose, but the answer remains open for the reader to decide. The princess loves this man and she wonders which would hurt more, watching the man die or watching him live his own happily ever after with another girl? The princess motioned to the door with the tiger behind it because she loved the man and could not bear to see him marry someone else, she did not shy away from the barbarism of her people, and she knew that no matter which door opened she could not live with the one she loved. First, the princess despised the girl behind the door because she believed that the girl tried to take the love of her life from her, so she did not want him to open that door. The princess would watch in horror because in her mind, she saw her love open the door with the tiger, but more often she saw him open the door to reveal a woman she hated. The princess had seen this girl watching the man she loved and immediately hated her. The girl was lovely, but she had dared to raise her eyes to the loved one of the princess; and, with all the intensity of the savage blood transmitted to her through long lines of wholly barbaric ancestors, she hated the woman who blushed and trembled behind that silent door (5). The princess did not want to watch her love die, but even more she did not want to see him get married to a person she hates. Even though the princess imagined her love opening the door with the tiger she had imagined even more his opening the door with the lady waiting. But how much oftener had she seen him at the other door? (6). To the princess it hurt her more to watch the man she loves marry a girl she hates. Why should he live, happily avoiding death, whilst she lived in the agony of knowing he

The Chesapeake Bay is the nation s largest estuary with six major tributaries, the James, the Potomac, the Susquehanna, the Patuxent, the York, and the Rappahannock Rivers, feeding into the bay from various locations in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia (Chemical Contaminants in the Chesapeake BayWorkshop Discussion 1). These areas depend on the Bay as both an environmentaland an economic resource. Throughout the last 15 years the Chesapeake Bay has suffered from elevated levels of pollution. Nitrogen and phosphorous from wastewater treatment plants, farmland, air pollution, and development all lead to reduced water clarity and lowered oxygen levels, which harm fish, crabs, oysters and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of this program was to reduce the level of nitrogen and phosphorous flowing to the Bay by 40% by the year 2000, from their 1985 levels (Blankenship 2). The first step in this program was to reduce the amount of nutrient pollution from point sources (end of the pipe) such as wastewater treatment facilities that feed into the many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay (The Chesapeake Bay Watershed 1). However, the results of these cleanup efforts were not enough to reach the goal of the program. Therefore, the areas involved now had to target the non point sources of nitrogen and phosphorous. The non point sources are storm water run off from agricultural and developed sites, air pollution, and the development of sensitive forests that act as buffers for tributaries and the Bay (1). The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act of 1989 took aim at these sources in Tidewater Virginiaby requiring resource management practices in the use and development of environmentally sensitive land (1). The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Ordinance of 1991 also took aim at these non point sources by designating environmentally sensitive areas in Virginia Beach as Resource Protection Areas and Resource Management Areas which are intended to protect the integrity of the lands that effect the Chesapeake Bay (2). The States involved also
