Compare And Contrast Thyroid And Hypothyroidism
There are many different types of thyroid diseases. The two I would like to discuss are
hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. These two thyroid diseases have a few similarities and many
differences.
Hyperthyroidism is known as an overactive thyroid which occurs when the thyroid gland
overproduces thyroid hormones causing the body s natural functions to accelerate (University
Michigan, N.D.). On the contrary, hypothyroidism is known as an underactive thyroid which
occurs when the thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormone which leads to the body s
natural functions slowing down. Hypothyroidism is more common, affecting five to twenty percent
of people in the United States. Meanwhile, only one percent of people in the United States ... Show

The symptoms of hypothyroidism include weight gain, coarse, dry hair, hair loss, cold intolerance,
constipation, irritability, memory loss, abnormal menstrual cycle, and decreased libido (University
Michigan, N.D.). The symptoms of hyperthyroidism include hand tremors, mood swings,
nervousness, anxiety, rapid heartbeat, irregular heartbeat, skin dryness, trouble sleeping, and weight
loss. Fatigue and muscle weakness are some symptoms of both hyperthyroidism and
hypothyroidism.
The process for diagnosing hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism is exactly the same which includes
laboratory test, thyroid scan, and radioactive iodine uptake test. The laboratory test for diagnosing
both are thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test and thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI)
test (University Michigan, N.D.).
Treatment for both diseases is remarkably different. Hyperthyroidism treatment consists of
radioactive iodine, antithyroid medication and sometimes a beta blocker to alleviate symptoms
(Milas, 2014). There are two antithyroid medications available in the United States methimazole,
also known as Tapazole, and propylthiouracil. Tapazole and propylthiouracil both stop the thyroid
from producing T3 and T4 hormones. The most common treatment for hyperthyroidism is
radioactive

A Career in Social Work
A Career in Social Work
I chose to do research on a career as a social worker because, based on my Holland and MBTI
code, this career best combines the conventional, social, and realistic aspects of my personality. I
also feel that this career choice corresponds with my personal values, as it will allow me to channel
my communication and problem solving skills towards helping disadvantaged individuals and
families.
Entering the social work field requires considerable preparation. In California, as in most states, a
bachelor s degree in social work (BSW), as well as the completion of additional coursework
hours in areas such as child abuse assessment and alcohol/chemical dependency, is the minimum
requirement to become a Licensed Bachelor s Social Worker (LBSW). An LBSW must work
under the supervision of a Licensed Master Social Worker or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker,
licenses which both require a master s degree in social work (MSW). Most California State
University campuses in the southern California area offer accredited degrees in social work. In
particular, the University of Southern California offers a top ranked online MSW program. Full
time social workers must also be prepared to work 40 hours per week, occasionally working
evenings and weekends to meet deadlines, meet with clients, or handle emergencies. In addition to
fulfilling all these preparation requirements, successful social workers must be deeply
compassionate, a good listener, and an effective

The Best 10 Tips You Can Be Wrong Essay
This article lists the best 10 tips you will ever receive about how to fail in relationships. Paying
great attention to them is a sure way to understand how to keep sabotaging your relationships over
and over again. Read and internalize with the fullest attention.
1. Never take responsibility for your part in the failure of your relationships. Always blame your
partners.
Taking responsibility shows that you too might be wrong. This can take away some of the respect
and love your partner feels towards you. Being sure you are always right is the best way to prove
your integrity and show how strong you are!
2. Don t ever try to get in touch and understand the needs which might drive you to sabotage your
relationships.
Trying to understand what might drive you to sabotage your relationships means that you don t
know yourself 100%. It means you don t know who you truly are.
In today s world, where knowledge is power , not knowing who you are is a weakness. You can t
allow yourself to believe and assume you have personal needs you are not aware of which might
drive you to harm your relationships.
There is no reason for you to even consider the possibility that you have needs which cause you to
sabotage your relationships (such as: the need to always be in control which drives your partners
away from you; the need to always get attention and love which makes you too dependent on your
partners; the need to always be right which makes you an unpleasant and

Losing Is Good For You, By Ashely Merryman
Loss Leads to Victory In the article Losing is Good for You , Ashely Merryman claims that
children should not be given awards for something not worth an award such as participation. She
states that our youth should not be put under the illusion that winning is as easy as one, two, three.
Based on her information, receiving an achievement should be earned instead of given. She stresses
the fact that constant praise and awardsfor possible effortless doings will result in a mindset that
believes that putting effort into something will not matter in the end because of the expected praise.
With that being said, she believes that constant awarding will lead to underachievement and poor
problem solving skills. I do agree with what Merryman is

Dehumanization In Blade Runner
Assigntment 3 Cities and cultures
Cities future
Zombies and androids have both been used as productive ways of imagining city futures. Develop
an argument in which you use one of these two tropes as a conceptual tool for critiquing the current
direction of urban identity, either by revealing a problem or by articulating an alternative.
Dystopian science fiction films of the past have frequently presented a critical dystopia, by
projecting future cities that perpetuates corporate capitalism s prominent features. Examples of
these features are urban decay, commodification, overcrowding, highly skewed disparities of wealth
and poverty, and authoritarian policing. An example of a Dystopian science fiction filmthat project

It opposes the values of love, empathy and community with the innovative forms of technology and
social life under advanced capitalism. The binary opposition between man and technology is
represented by three characters in the plot: Deckard, apparently a human. Roy, an android who
fears death and longs to be human and Rachel, who thinks she is human and who enters a
relationship with a human. These replicants represent capitalism s oppressive characteristics and
also to a certain extent the rebellion against exploitation. Deckard s realization of how the Tyrell
Corporation exploits him, and the rebellion of the replicants against their oppressors, is the ultimate
critique of capitalism. Since both sides killer and killed reject their status as servants of the
corporation and refuse further exploitation. (Kellner, et all) The corporation in the Blade Runner
that is used to illustrate capitalism s destructive characteristics is The Tyrell Coporation. The Tyrell
Corporation invents replicants to have a controllable labor force that will perform difficult and
dangerous tasks. Similarly applicable to today, where capitalism turns individuals into machines
that have only the function of productivity. Ironically, the replicants form a human rebellion; while
the actual human characters in the film seem to submit to corporate domination and live a life like
the corporations sees them to. It seems as if the humans have become so dehumanized that the
replicants form a rebellion against their oppressor instead of human beings. Capitalism has
dehumanized the population to such an extent, that technology is actually more

conducting a strategic management project
INTRODUTION: The original assignment tasks for this unit involved carrying out a management
project and producing a formal report as the final output. It is with regret that this has not been
possible due to the fact that I am not in current employment and as a result, the assignment has been
adjusted to accommodate my (and others) circumstances. Instead, I have been asked to write a
personal statement for each of the learning outcomes. This report is divided into four tasks and is a
combination of theory and personal application. To assist in my articulation of my personal
statements I have used a scenario throughout the assignment pertaining to the moving of a

completion of this research time, staff, finances, equipment etc I would set this information out
a written research plan for approval. This form of documentation (and the Scope Statement)
helps senior managers and investors in deciding the validity of such projects and can be used to
decide which project to support if there is more than one option available. TASK TWO: Be able
to conduct research, using sources, and synthesise data and options The nature of the enquiry will
determine the type of research required. For example, research to decide if it is viable to move a
1.5ha glasshouse from Christchurch to Nelson, New Zealand is very different to establishing if
consumers prefer long life, acid free, vine ripe, extra large, or cherry tomato s. The type and source
of information will vary greatly, for example deciding to move a glasshouse might involve
comparative studies into: sunlight hours, heating (boiler) council bylaws, cost of heating if there
are changes, accessibility and cost of resources and support products, cost of moving/transporting
the glasshouse, cost of non production during transition phase, actual profit (Christchurch) versus
projected profit (Nelson); Deciding which tomato s to plant in the glass house might involve:
consumer surveys or interviews, sales records from supermarkets and produce markets, cost of
production versus

Bismarck And Kaiser Wilhelm s Foreign Policy
Maya Epstein Mr. LeRoy Honors History 1 21 October 20151.Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm
were two German officials around the time of world war one. They both had foreign policies
and they were both pretty different. Bismarck s foreign policy had many aims. One of the aims
was to leave territorial expansion behind. He unified Germany and to do so had to incorporate
many other states into Prussia. He was also very much in favor of peace instead of war. He also
never tried to strengthen the naval forces of Germany especially not to ruin the relationship with
England. Next, he decided to keep France isolated as well as friendless so that could not start a
war as revenge. He also focused on Germany s relationship with Austria and Russia. He also
distrusted Italy. Kaiser Wilhelm s foreign policy differed from Bismarck s in many ways.
Whereas Bismarck did things based on logic Kaiser Wilhelm did things more based on emotion.
This resulted in incoherence and inconsistency in the German relations with other nations. He
wanted an empire that could rival the size of the british. He also managed to alienate the English
by aggressively expanding the navy. He was more aggressive and wanted Germany to be the best.
Their decisions were significant to World War one in many ways. One of the ways was it fueled
European tension prior to the war. The different countries did not like some the things either of the
leaders were doing, and that did not help much. Also, because of the already

The Scramble for Africa in Late 19th Century to Early 20th...
During the late 19th century and the early 20th century, European countries began their scramble
for Africa which caused African to suffer from violence like wars, slavery and unfairness, but there
was also a positive, peaceful and diplomatic consequences and events in Africa like fair trade
system, new technology and the security given to Africans under European rule. An additional
document written by an African commoner would help to further assess the African actions and
reactions by telling what happened to them during that time period and their reaction towards that
issue.
European imperialism in Africa mainly caused violent acts and suffering to the African natives but
there were positive event. Before European imperialisms, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, Africans had a strong sense of nationalism, especially women, like Yaa Asantewa. As
queen she saw the cowardliness of the chiefs and gave them a long speech about the bravery of
Ashanti is gone and if they aren t willing to go forward and protect the country, the women will.
They would hold arms against the Europeans until the last of them dies (Doc. 6). Also chief
Maherero wrote a letter to another chief in order to help persuade him to take arms against the
Europeans, to fight rather than die from weakly disease or maltreatment, etc. (Doc 7). This shows
that s strong sense of nationalism within Africa.
Even though there were mostly war and violence, the source of suffering in Africa, there were also
peaceful and positive means in colonization. Africans and Europeans signed a contract calling for
equal trade, fairness, bettering of the people, no war and not interfering with native laws and
customs. (Doc. 1) However, because of the contact between African and Europeans through wars
and other forms of contact, improved technologies were brought to African through the Europeans
(Doc. 5). For example, machine guns, cannons and strategies and formation skills helped influenced
the warfare in Africa, like the Battle of Adowa, where Ethiopians fought against the Italians and
won. Also, Prempeh I

Essay on The Tradition of the Chivo Mask
The Chivo mask is from Mexico, typically found in the state of Guerrero. The mask was first
created and used in the village, Zitlala, after the Mexican Revolution. It is used for the ritual
dance called La Danza de los Chivos or Dance of the Goats. However, the dance is now used in
many other celebrations and festivities throughout other areas of Mexico, as well. The mask is part
of the ceremony known as the Danceof the Goats or La Danza de los Chivos. The mask on

In the ceremony, the dancers line up in two lines dancing while portraying goats. The dancers
wear outfits made of white silk thread with normal tennis shoes and socks. The mask, of course,
is the most important aspect of the attire. Mask makers typically decorate the masks with horns,
a head dress, or both. They also usually paint them in bright colors, such as the one found on
masksoftheworld.com. In some areas, the masks also have colored ribbon at the tips of the horns
and hair made of sisal or raffia thread. The dancers are primarily male, though there are some
areas that have female dancers, as well. This is the case in Quechultenango, Guerrero, Mexico.
Groups of both male and female dancers complete the dance. In the same area, they dance in
normal, everyday attire and only wear masks they decorated to resemble the goat.
Although the dance originated in Zitlala, dancers perform it today in many regions for many
different celebrations and festivities. One of these include Dia de San Juan Bautista or Day of
Saint Juan. In fact, they perform this and similar dances during celebrations of all the Saints. A
parade usually marks the beginning of the festivity. Cars and floats move along the streets. These
floats normally all demonstrate some aspect of Mexican culture, such as music. Then, the dancing
begins. There is also a firework show. These festivities usually last through the night. The dance is

HCS451 Risk Assessment Summary
Agape Long Term Care is a 40 bed skilled nursing facility, specializing in Alzheimer s and
dementia patients. The management team at Agape has decided to make risk management a focus
in the upcoming year, and has hired a consultant to perform an assessment and formulate a plan
for risk management. Long term care facilities serve over 3 million Americans, and that number is
growing every year. (Rubbens, 2007)With the boom in the need for long term care, comes more
risks. Risk management is designed to mitigate safety concerns, assure quality and protect patients
rights. Risk management is both proactive eliminating risks before they can occur, and reactive

Agape plans to educate each staff member on the principles of risk management and how they can
be proactive in their daily duties. The consultant also recommended sending the risk manager to be
certified by the Center for Aging Services Risk Management (CASRM), a not for profit foundation
that researches, educates and promotes a culture of risk management and safety. CASRM is an
invaluable resource for risk management in long term care and skilled nursing facilities. (Linda
Wallace, 2011) Agape has taken the first steps to promote a culture of risk management within its
organization. They will be performing a risk assessment; following thought with a written risk
management program and continue to education their staff of incorporating risk management into
daily activities. These changes will lead to fewer negative incidents, improve the quality of
healthcare Agape delivers and increase the bottom line for its shareholders. Bibliography DiNatate,

Claes Oldenburg Essay
Claes Oldenburg was born January 28, 1929, in Stockholm, Sweden. His father was a member
of the Swedish foreign service, so Claes and his family moved often. From 1930 to 1933 the
Oldenburgs lived in New York, and from 1933 to 1936 they lived in Oslo, Norway. Then in 1936
the family moved to Chicago, where Claes s father served as consul general of Sweden.
Oldenburg graduated from the Latin School in Chicago in 1946. Then he enrolled at Yale
University, receiving a B.A. degree in 1950. When he was at Yale, his studies focused on
literature and art. In 1950 Claes returned to Chicago, where he stayed until 1956. He worked as an

Claes is known as one of the few American Pop art sculptors known for his absurd creations of
food and other objects. The collection of art in Pastry Case, was originally displayed in his
famous 1961 installation titled The Store, located on New York s Lower East Side. For this
Oldenburg created plaster sculpture like objects including a strawberry shortcake and a candied
apple. In addition to recreating consumer items, Oldenburg made his installation like a typical
store and sold his items at low prices, commenting on the interrelation between art objects and
commodities. Although they were sold as if they were mass produced, the creations in The
Store were carefully hand built. The piece I choose to critique is the Spoonbridge and Cherry. I
really like how Claes Oldenburg s style is to take everyday objects and make them larger than
the actual size. This piece is made of stainless steel, aluminum, and paint. It is placed in the
Walker Art Center in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. This sculpture is large spoon going
over the water like a bridge. On the end of the spoon there is a cherry. One of the principles he
used was movement by showing the curve going over the water. A second principle was
emphasis. He showed this with the cherry because it is bright red. Two of the elements he used are
color and form. He showed color by using 3 different

Jesus In The Book Of Judges
We all know that Jesus is not able to be replicated by anything from mankind. Keeping this in mind,
we still strive to be like him. I the book of Judges there are great examples of men trying to be like
Jesus, and follow in his footsteps. WE also know that we have sin in our lives so there is no way to
be perfect like Jesuswas. In the book of Judges there are also many examples of people falling
into sin and being much different than Jesus. Samson was a strong warrior. Later in his life he
was captured and was put on a stage as what seems like nothing but a freak show for the rich to
look at and be entertained. At this point in times he pulls the pillars killing more people then he
did when he lived. (Judges 16) Now, this doesn t compare to Jesus at all. The point that compares

Gideon knew that if you put your hope in the place then your numbers don t matter as
much.(Judges 7) He narrowed down his men from 10,000 to 300 (as God had commanded.) With
all this trust he put in God he was able to defeat all the Midianites and prove that God can use
small numbers. Jesus also worked with very small numbers. Jesus knew that God could work
though small numbers and that He didn t need the advantage of a big crowd to win. Jesus had
many followers but narrowed his core group of followers to 12. God was able to carry on his
message through these men and show his love to the world. Samson also contrasted from Jesus
and showed weakness. Samson knew his purpose and how to fulfill it (by following the Nazarite
vows) but he fell into sin many times and broke the promise with Christ. One example of
Samson breaking the Nazarite vow is touching the dead carcass of a lion in Judges 14:9. Jesus on
the other hand fulfilled his prophecy in full. He not only stayed clean but also lived a perfect life.
This ultimately ending with his main purpose of dying for all of us through crucifixion. (Luke

Assembling In The Iliad

Assembling in The Iliad
(Holding councils of war or holding assemblies) Every great war in history has been determined,
to some extent, by the powerful strategies executed by one party of the war. These strategies ,
most of the time, are not the brainchild of one individual, but more or less a group of people
collaborating toward one strategy effective enough to turn the tides of battle. The most effective
way for important leaders to voice their opinions for their next endeavor is achieved through the
use of assemblies. Assemblies were very important to the armies in the Trojan War
, as both sides
had great power, meaning that cunning strategy would be the winning factor for one of the
parties involved in the Trojan War. However, assemblies held during the Trojan War were more
one sided toward the authoritative figures rather than a true collaboration between leaders and
wise men. These assemblies follow a simple pattern: a leader calls out to the army to form an
assembly when he sees it fit; then, the leaders and wise men then collaborate and voice their
opinions on the matter at hand; and finally, the figure with the highest authority in the assembly
decides what to do next as a result of the assembly. The assembly begins with an important leader
calling for one when he sees it fit to form one. For example, an assembly was called by Achilles
due to concerns from the plague in Book 1; it was revealed that

Introduction
Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) are becoming an increasing cause of preventable death and
morbidity across the globe including in India. It is estimated that if preventable measures are
not taken ,it will be the fifth leading cause of death by 2030. Ninety percentage of the fatalities
related to RTAs occur in Lower and Middle Income Countries (LMIC) which has only around
48% o world s vehicles. In India, almost 400,000 RTAs occur in an year resulting in approximately
85,000 deaths and 150,000 severe injuries. Overall,RTAs are predicted to be the third largest
contributor of global burden of disease by 2020.
The trend in the state of Kerala is no different (Fig 1). According to Report on Medical

The Relatable Of The Camel And His Friends
The most relatable fable that i read in this section was The Camel and His Friends . I found that
this story is relateable today especially. In today s society we get caught up in the trends and
evrything that is going on around us far too often. We live in a world where manipulation is
easier than ever and people can turn on you at the drop of a hat. It can seem that people care
about you and are there for you no matter what the circumstance. The lion who said he would never

is going today we need to be cautious of the situations we put ourselves. It is not until sometimes
things get tough that you find out who your real friends are

Outliers Reflection
After reading the chapter in the book Outliers, The Story of Success, I believe that Gladwell did
a great job explaining how different cultures can cause an impact our to the society and the
individuals. Although I love working in a work place that embraces diversity and is accepting
of all kinds of people, this may lead to some challenges due to the differences that we pertain. For
example, every coworker I work with is unique in his or her own way; we were all raised
differently and were born into other communities. Furthermore, this enabled us all have different
ways of doing things or handling situations. One thing that I was taught to do a certain way may
bother a coworker of mine if they do it differently and vise versa which could lead to those
challenges. A talent that someone may be superior at, may be extremely difficult for somebody
else. In the end, everyone has their own talents which should be embraced and used in order to
become successful. In the book, they mentioned how Korean Airlines at the time were... Show more

that the role of woman was never truly expressed in detail? Of corse we have heard of Gorge

during the Revolution were cooks and maids for both British and American armies. They had

Evaluation On Tablets Vs. Laptops
When looking at technology people look for certain criteria when it comes to evaluating the
specific electronic device they want. Tablets in my opinion are way better than laptops only
because they are less bulky; they are thin which makes tablets more versatile, their battery life lasts
longer than a laptop, and ipad tablets have special programs a laptop doesn t obtain. Tablets have
advanced over the years. Look at Apple for instance, they came out with the iPad mini and now
they came out with an iPad with a retina display that means that the screen has sufficient pixel
density, which means that the screen is brighter and clearer. Laptops may have a bigger screen
but I don t see laptops advancing like tablets do these days. It is quite an experience if you own
an ipad tablet, once you own one you will never want to go back to a laptop. Ipads has a built in
Wi Fi and cellular connectivity so people can stay in touch easier than they would with a laptop.
Laptops have Wi Fi but not cellular connectivity. They could use cellular connectivity through

By predicting behavior, psychologists try to determine if a person is likely to make healthy or
unhealthy decisions when confronted with certain situations. Most psychologist use experiments to
make predictions.
Part of what I learned in psychology is about Psychological science and when it was born . Also,
some of psychology s first graduate students studied the atoms of the mind by conducting
experiments in Leipzig, Germany in 1879. American philosopher William James wrote an important
1890 psychology textbook. Mary Calkins, James s student, became the APA s first female president.
Psychology has taught me other ways to look at science. It has taught me that science is a discipline
that demonstrates an organized body of knowledge. The scientific method is observing phenomena,
formulating hypothesis. A hypothesis is a tentative explanation that can be tested and then accepted
or rejected. Psychology has taught me other ways to look at science and different ways to define
the terms.
What does a psychologist do? A psychologist is basically a scientist conducting research and
testing hypotheses. Science practitioners are clinical or counseling psychologists. Psychology s
past and present include French philosopher Rene Decartes( 1596 1650). Also, john Locke(1632

Security And Security Techniques
Overall information systems hardware, software, networks and data resources need to be
protected and secured to ensure the effective performance of an organization. One security
technique used by organizations to protect their computer systems from security threats is
encryption this is a method used by organizations to send data to others it works by using special
mathematical algorithms to convert the data into scrambled code before transmission and when
the data is received it is decoded when an authorized user accesses it. In my opinion, this is very
effective because it stops people from being able to read or use data if they intercepted it as the is
in a scrambled letter and number form. Another securitytechnique is a firewall this... Show more

Anti virus software and Antispyware Software works by identifying suspicious software based on a
list of known threats it then checks the computer against that list and tells the user if it finds
anything on its list. In my opinion, Anti virus software and Anti Spyware Software is very
effective because it stops malicious software getting onto a computer which could steal or leak
sensitive company data. One security technique is protecting systems with usernames and
passwords to access any equipment, wireless networks and sensitive data should be guarded
with unique usernames and passwords for each member of staff, this is for two reasons it is an
added layer of security so if someone hacks in they have to get passed the password and it also
allows companies to see what exactly their employees are accessing, also the passwords that are
used should be very strong so the passwords should include numbers, letters and symbols and not
have standard dictionary terms or dates such as birthdays which are easy to guess. In my
opinion, usernames and passwords are very effective because it makes it harder for hackers to
hack in and it allows companies to keep an eye on employees for example they will be able to
see what files they are accessing and if they are a risk to the company. One more security technique
is keeping sensitive data out of the cloud, Cloud computing offers businesses many benefits like

Implementation of Physical Restraints in Behavioral Health
Introduction
In behavioral health nursing, using physical restraints is a very integral aspect to the overall health
and well being of patients and staff. Although this is still a very prominent and sensitive subject
amongst healthcare professionals, I deemed it important that my facility implement and utilize
physical restraints on our behavioral health unit. Nurses need to be educated on the use of
restraints, which lead to my self education on this topic. Nurses need to be aware of the benefits and
the consequences that restraints can have on a patient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first week, I took my idea to implement physical restraints on my unit to my Unit Nurse
Manager. She deemed my idea credible to the needs of our unit, and encouraged me to gain as
much research and information as I could that pertained to the subject. Along with my Unit Nurse
Manager, we set up a meeting with the RN Chief of Nursing, Unit Psychiatrist, and Unit Medical
Director to present my research finding on Week 3. After their approval, my Unit Medical
Director, RN Nurse Manager, Unit Nurse Manger, and I met with CEO later that same week. He
approved our budget, and agreed that the hospital will cover all fees associated with this project.
On week 4, I met with the Unit Nurse Manager and we unveiled the implementation plan to the
remainder of the staff. After revealing the plan to staff, they assisted me in devising a plan that
would allow to us be properly educated and trained on the use of physical restraints. Week 4 was
the week when my plan really started to come to life. We had a two and a half day training class on
the proper use of physical restraints in mental health facilities. After being trained and receiving our
order of restraints, we put the restraints on the beds and were ready use them only if the unfortunate
situation presented itself. Week 6 is where I ultimately reviewed the effectiveness of the restraints,
and documented my findings.

The Effects of Cold on Blood Pressure and Pulse
THE EFFECTS OF COLD ON BLOOD PRESSURE AND PULSE
Abstract
The ability known as thermoregulation is a feature of an organism that help to keep the body
temperature within certain thresholds, thus independently from external conditions. A dynamic
state of thermal balance of human body between its internal environment and the territory is a
model example of precise control of organism heat. In the case where such stability would be
disturbed the immediate response would appear as well. In accordance with the thermodynamic
principles the flow of the heat will occur without change of the state (Houdas and Ring, 1982).
Moreover, temperature coordination is closely related to the changes within the cardiovascular
system as well. To... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

taken at the beginning of the experiment at room temperature. Sequentially these readings were;
for systolic blood pressure (SBP) equal to 134mmHg, diastolic blood pressure (DBP) equal to
79mmHg at the pulse rate equal to 91 per minute.
Moreover, to support the quality of the gathered results the experiment was repeated and an

Adam And Eve By Ursula Le Guin
Adam and Eve is a biblical story told over the centuries. For those who are not aware of the story,
it is a passage from the Bible. In Genesis 2:19 20, God creates the animals, and Adam chooses
their names: Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the
birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the
man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the
birds in the sky and all the wild animals. Ursula Le Guin s poem, She Unnames Them it takes place
when Adam and Evewandered on Earth but the story is inverted. The story conveys hierarchy
between men and women; the dissimilarity of power between the two genders. Ursula... Show more

As Eve unnamed the animals, she felt the disconnection between herself and them thinning. She
understood that names should be selected cautiously because they do in spirit determine purity.
She anticipates that namelessness will bring sacredness since all life will be on equivalent
levels, with no clear barriers or hierarchies of power. No living being knows its place because
there are no categories for the beings to fall under with namelessness. Eve says that this was
more or less the effect she had been after and that it turned out to be somewhat more powerful
than she had expected (1242). Looking at this through a feminist s eye now, the story is about
women undoing what man did. In the naming process that man took, the names were generally
man centered, but the feminist goal is for gender neutral language, which can be easily achieved
if there was no name in the first place. She, on the other hand, does not wish to anger man and
thus tries to show gratitude to man for his care and protection. She calls her name a gift since it
made her a part of man, and thus she profits in some extent from man s dominance of the earth.
She gives voice to the voiceless, hope to the outsider Guin shows that the era of male superiority
must end. Women are capable of being self sufficient, and just as all life is inherently equal, men
and women should be

Introduction to Prokaryotes Lab Report
Introduction to Prokaryotes in Different Temperature Environments
Angelina Orozco
Biology 1108

Abstract
Prokaryotes are single celled organisms that can survive in extreme environments. Bacteria is the
more numerous type of prokaryotes. The group hypothesizes that the samples taken from different
environments will all cultivate diverse morphology in fast growing rates in each environment. The
aseptic technique was used to cultivate bacteria from different environments. The diversity of
morphology and the growing rate of the bacteria was different in each environment.
Introduction
Prokaryotes are the oldest known life forms, having existed for the last 3.5 billion years.
Microscopic in size, they are single celled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every environment sample had its own growth rate and bacteria diversity. The primary reason may
be that conditions are rarely optimum. Scientists who study bacteria try to create the optimum
environment in the lab: culture medium with the necessary energy source, nutrients, pH, and
temperature, in which bacteria grow predictably. Most of the strains used in the classroom either
require oxygen for growth or grow better with oxygen. These bacteria will grow better on agar
plates, where air readily diffuses into the bacterial colony, or in liquid cultures that are shaken.
Since diffusion of oxygen into liquid depends on the surface area, it is important to have a large
surface; volume ratio. This means that cultures will grow best in flasks in which the volume of
liquid is small relative to the size of the vessel. Also another factor that affects growth is the
nutritional medium. Bacteria grow best when optimal amounts of nutrients are provided.

Compare And Contrast Night Rhythms And The Yellow Wallpaper
Some people believe in fate, luck, and religion, whereas others believe in only things that are
tangible. The you have to see it to believe it mentality is a major aspect as to why people have a
hard time understanding mental illness, and why in turn patients with mental illness have a hard
time getting the help they need. In comparing the texts, Night Rhythms and The Yellow Wallpaper,
these distinct differences between physical and mental illnessare highlighted. The idea of not
believing in what is not tangible is shown in the beginning of Night Rhythms, in the description
of the woman s husband. It says, He scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen
and put down in figures (p. ) . This is significant because mental illness cannot always be felt,
seen, or put down in figures. Society is more understanding and sympathetic of physical illness
than mental illness. In these two texts, the illnesses described are cerebral palsy and postpartum
depression. Cystic fibrosis is a congenital disease that affects motor skills. This is a physical
illness. Postpartum depression occurs after a mother delivers her baby. After delivers, the
hormone levels in the mother s body drop and this combined with sleep deprivation and new stress
can leave the mother feeling very down. This is a mental illness. In Night Rhythms, Deans illness
is described as he choked during birth, which means the rhythm of the contractions were wrong.
His lungs opened too soon (p. 102) . It is

Diseases, drugs, alcohol, and the harsh living conditions often left soldiers longing for home.
Veterans coming home had to face many different situations. Most veterans who came home did
not receive the welcome they had deserved. Some veterans were homeless and unemployed after
coming home. An organization called the Vietnam Veterans against the War or the VVAW tried
to help the soldiers coming home. The organization allowed veterans to talk about their
experiences to them and also tried to get the veterans to talk to the public (Rivers 646 648). The
VVAW helped the veterans throughout the war. Many veterans who came home had emotional
trauma or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The United States citizens did not want to
remember the war or the brave men who fought in it (Rivers 646 647). Very few people cared
about Vietnam or the soldiers during the war because of the negative views toward the soldiers
and the war. There were two main views toward the soldiers in Vietnam; a negative view and a
positive view. The negative view seemed to be the most popular attitude towards them. The
negative outlook portrayed the soldiers as the reason for the United States involvement in the
war and the reason to why the U.S. was losing. Many soldiers came back to the U.S. and felt like
a criminal (Rivers 647). The positive view saw the soldiers as heroes. This perspective depicts the
soldiers as heroic and fighting for the United States. Post traumatic stress

Dinosaur Extinction Research

Their extinction occurred at the end of the Cretaceous period and is noted as one of the largest
mass extinctions in Earth s history and is referred to as the K T (Cretaceous Tertiary) extinction
but is now called the Cretaceous Paleogene (K Pg) event by many researchers. So from this
information a question has been derived, How effectively does the asteroid theory explain the
extinction of dinosaurs compared to other theories? A wide variety of extinction theories have been
suggested and some of the following examples have been evidentially thought wrong by many.
Some examples of the extinction theories are the toxic volcanic gasses and dust (Volcanism),
asteroid impact on earth and climate change. Some scientists have suggested ... Show more content

In the early to mid stages of the Cretaceous period the worlds temperatures became hotter by
about 10В°, some scientists have linked this to the Asteroid Impact theory. Others linked it to the
volcanic activity that is known today as India and Pakistan. The late Cretaceous period was a great
time of change, continents were splitting and volcanoes were spitting lots of gas and ash into the
atmosphere greatly altering climate. Whether it be gradual or sudden changes in climate dinosaurs
habitats and environment would have been affected making it harder for them to adapt. A sudden
change may have triggered a change in the weather thus affecting food sources. Gradual changes
may have slowly changed environments like cool wet areas into dry areas affecting life there in a
big way.

A team led by the Nobel Laureate Luis Alvarez demonstrated that a large bolide (generic term for
meteor, comet or asteroid) had collided with Earth close to or at the end of the Cretaceous

element Iridium in the sediments of areas in Italy. Iridium is rare as it is most commonly found on
bolides that have come in contact with Earth as opposed to in the Earth.

Howard Gardner And The Theory Of Multiple Intelligences
Howard Gardner and The Theory of Multiple Intelligences Howard Gardner, born in Scranton,
Pennsylvania, on July 11, 1943 is best known for his Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Gardner, a
developmental psychologist, received his undergraduate degree and PhD from Harvard University.
Gardner has authored many books/articles and received many awards. In his book, Frames of
Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Gardner introduced The Theory of Multiple
Intelligences. This paper will discuss The Theory of Multiple Intelligences and give practical ways
this theory can be used in the classroom.
The Theory of Multiple Intelligences In 1983 Howard Gardner introduced The Theory of Multiple
Intelligences. In his theory, Gardner suggests that all people possess eight intelligences. The eight
intelligences are linguistic (verbal), musical, spatial, logical mathematical, bodily kinesthetic
(movement), interpersonal (understanding others), intrapersonal (understanding self), and
naturalist (observing and understanding natural and human made patterns and systems) (Woolfolk,
2014, p.134). The first intelligence, linguistic or verbal, deals with language. Someone with
linguistic intelligence has the ability to express themselves easily and understand complex word
meanings. They usually think in words and reflect on the use of language. Linguistic intelligence is
the most widely shared human competence (Gardner, n.d., p.1). These are the poets, public
speakers, and authors.

Oliver Wendell Holmes The Path Of The Law
THE PATH OF THE LAW BY OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES, JR.
The Path of the Law , originally put forth in the form of a speech, was presented by
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. in the year 1897. He is considered as one of the forerunners of
American Legal Realism. In The Path of the Law, broadly speaking,
Holmes speaks about the Prediction Theory of law, the Bad Man Account of the law, and his
criticism of Legal Formalism. In this paper, the reader will find arguments either for or against
these theories.
Holmes starts The Path of the Law with the Prediction Theory. He states that law is not a mystery
but a well known profession. In any given legal setup, the lives of people are governed by the
command of the law. The law lays down fixed rules and
regulations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Langdell s formalism is largely based on logic and codified laws. The judges simply apply the
law of the land to the issue at hand. They are bound by the letter of the law. Holmes criticized
this form of formalism by stating that, The life of the law has not been logic: it has been
experience .6 In other words, the way law has been practiced and its growth over the years has
been based not on how the judges deduce the laws from statutes and apply them, but how they
apply laws is based on what they feel is correct. Such decisions may seem arbitrary, but they are
actually based on logical reasoning in accordance with laws in force.
However, to critique Holmes s stand, one may say that a law needs to be uniform so that there is
no ambiguity as to what the stance of a law is with regard to a particular manner. An example
from recent times in India, with regard to the problems faced by following a legal realism model
would be the Naz Foundation case. This case was with regard to consensual sex amongst members
of the same gender. The Delhi High

Gandalf and Sauron were driving 70 miles per hour down a desolate road at 2 am. Both men were
followed and stopped by state troopers Bilbo and Frodo outside of Sauron s home. Since deer
season started, Bilbo and Frodo were looking for hunters with illegal firearms and illegally shot

Sauron, Frodo smelled alcohol on Sauron s breath. Sauron agreed to take a sobriety test, failed
it, and was subsequently arrested. Gandalf left the vehicle, and Bilbo confronted Gandalf before
Gandalf could enter Sauron s home. Bilbo asked Gandalf if he could search the vehicle and
Gandalf agreed to the search. In the process of searching the vehicle Frodo and Bilbo find a
wallet in the glove compartment and a dead body in the back of the van. Upon the discovery of
the body, Frodo chases after Gandalf and arrests him inside the house. Inside the home, officers
find and seize evidence of drug trafficking and poaching. Following Sauron s and Gandalf s

Infect Influenza Vaccines
When we hear the word virus, we usually think of something that makes us sick. A virus is an
ultramicroscopic infectious organism that, having no independent metabolic activity, can
replicate only within a cell of another host organism. A virus consists of a core of nucleic acid,
either RNA or DNA, surrounded by a coating of antigenic protein and sometimes a lipid layer
surrounds it as well. The viral genome provides the genetic code for replication, and the host cell
provides the necessary energy and raw materials. To fight viruses, we use vaccines. While some

According to Center for Disease Control (CDC), influenza viruses are divided into three types,
designated as A, B, and C. Influenza type C usually only causes either very mild symptoms or no
symptoms at all. Types A and B, however, are responsible for epidemics of respiratory illnesses
that can result in hospitalization, or even death. Influenza is constantly changing over time by
mutations. This continual change allows the virus to evade the antibodies that were meant to
kill it. A host infected with influenza virus develops antibodies against that virus; as the virus
changes, the first antibody no longer recognizes the newer virus and infection can occur because
the host does not recognize the new flu virus as a problem until the infection is well under way.
The first antibody developed may, in some instances, provide partial protection against infection
with a new influenza virus. According to Medicine Net.com, In 2009, almost all individuals had
no antibodies that could recognize the novel H1N1 virus immediately. It quickly spread
throughout the world so fast that the WHO declared this new flu strain (termed novel H1N1
influenza A swine flu). There are currently four main strains of influenza circulating worldwide.
Three of the viruses are type A, and one is type B. Type A viruses are divided into subtypes based
on the differences in two viral proteins called hemagglutinin (H) and neuraminidase (N). The three
subtypes of influenza A are A(H1N1), A(H3N2), and A(H5N1). The reason for several strands of

Furthermore Russell begins to explore the development of Rita s education in the play this can
be seen in Act 1 scene 6, here Frank has invited Rita to a dinner party however she did not attend
said arrangement due to Rita s lack of confidence in herself as a modern, upper class woman and
this causes Frank to doubt her will power especially in her studies and education. This
uncertainty within her self exhibits the still existing class divide between the two characters
and can be seen where Rita begins to briefly explain her reasons for not coming along to Franks

idea that Rita feels, despite her best efforts at becoming an educated woman, she is ultimately
reverting back to her looming social status which Frank doesn t believe is holding her back but is
an image of her underlying character which he finds so individual and makes her an interesting
woman. Russell used the dinner party almost symbolically to resemble the threshold at which Rita

company rise back to the top of the diaper industry. Pampers new strategy focuses on customer
feedback and relationships, global social media marketing, promotions, and producing quality
products. Pampers has grown to be the number one brand in the diaper industry, due to their heavy
utilization in social media marketing, and the personal relationship with their customers.
History
Vic Mills is an engineer that worked for Proctor Gamble, who did not enjoy changing his
grandkids cloth diapers, so he wanted to come up with an easier solution for changing diapers.
With that being said, he worked with other researchers to develop a disposable diaper in 1956,
which was the start of Pampers. In 1958 the company introduced the costly plastic diaper in
Texas, but quickly realized how uncomfortable they were for the babies and not economically
cost effective for the parents, so it was back to the drawing board. According to the Pampers
Newsroom (2011) six months after the Dallas Test market, P G designed a diaper with better
features including zee pleats, superior containment, a hydrophobic top sheet and a plastic back
sheet. The testing of the new and improved diaper was a hit. Touching lives, improving life is
Pampers driving force, and has not changed since 1970s. According to Pampers Newsroom

Alternative Energy Vs. Fossil Fuels Essay
Alternative energy versus fossil fuels is a very controversial issue surrounding America today. The
issue is so controversial for many reasons, such as our economic dependence on fossil fuels and
the possibility of global warming due to the burning of these fossil fuels we are so dependent on.
Where one argument seems to succeed in persuading the reader one way, another rebuttal can be
made that will neutralize the arguments before it. If the United States become more alternative
energydependent, it could destroy thousands of jobs, or it could save the US s economy.
Those who are for alternative energy side this way for many reasons. Firstly, alternative resources
are an extremely clean source of energy, as one anonymous person said, Remember when all those
kids got asthma from solar panel smog, toxic wind turbine pollution got in your food, and clean
energy poisoned our water? Yeah, me neither. Almost all alternative energy plans highlight that they
have much lower carbon emissions than any of the fossil fuel options available, and make the
environment healthier, as they do not pollute it with carbon dioxide or any other toxic gases that
are produced, as a byproduct of fossil fuels. As of right now, our economy s inflation is directly
based on the supply of fossil fuels, foreign and domestic. The cost of renewable energy is dependent
on the amount of money put into the infrastructure, as sunlight, wind, and water are free and in
abundance almost anywhere on earth, which

Pistorius s Argument Essay
On February 14, 2013, Reeva Steenkamp was killed by a burst of gunfire through Oscar
Pistorius s bathroom door. He thought his girlfriend to be an intruder in his home. Proven to be
innocent, many people believe that Mr. Pistorious got off a little too easy. As an infant, Mr.
Pistorious had his legs amputated due to being born without fibulas. But never let that keep him
from rising above and beyond. As a disabled Olympic athlete, Oscar Pistorious was a national hero
and an international star for the way that he overcame his disability to compete against able bodied
runners as well as disabled ones. As a disabled man, Oscar feels more vulnerable than the average
man in everyday situations. Although, the judge in his trial, Judge... Show more content on

While testifying during trial, Pistorius changed his story and his defense from previous
statements read at his bail hearing and the start of his trial; adding the last words he exchanged
with Steenkamp and that he heard the lavatory door slam, and first saying he fired at an intruder,
then that he fired by mistake (Oscar 1). This man knew exactly what he was doing when he
killed his girlfriend, and whether he feels bad about it or not isn t up to the law to decide.
Pistorius fatally shot Steenkamp in his home in the early hours of Feb. 14, 2013. He said he
mistook her for an intruder, while the prosecution said he killed her intentionally after an argument.
While he was not charged with homicide (which he should have been), he was charged with a
manslaughter. The sentence for a culpable homicide (manslaughter) conviction is at the judge s
discretion, and it can range from a suspended sentence and a fine to up to a Stephens 5 maximum
of 15 years in prison. Sentencing was expected to be announced at a later date

Palladium Garage Door Case Study
Dennis Vourderis11/27/12 Palladium Garage doors Case Study
Problem Definition: Palladium Door, Inc. wants to increase 2003 sales by 36% in 2004. There is
concern whether the current distribution strategy used by Palladium would be adequate to
achieve the goal. Although Palladium s growth has been steady over the past 10 years the market
share was only at 2.6%. The firm s senior executives were firmly believed they justified this lofty
sales goal because they had to attain a larger sales volume to preserve its buying position with
suppliers. Palladium, during its growth, has exceeded the industry growth. There are three new
plans on how to reach the goal. There are four different viewpoints on the marketing decision. ...

Several executives did not want to change either the distribution strategy or the dealers, but rather
look internally on how to do a better job with the current distribution channel.
Recommendations: It would seem very favorable for Palladium to implement alternative 2 of
developing the franchise program. The addition of 27 exclusive dealers would definitely
increase sales and out of the 3 alternatives, it provides the least increase in cost and/or the largest
increase in sales. So in order for Hawly to meet his goal of $12.5 million With the exclusive dealers
in place they can improve the brand image also. By adding the 20% budget they can increase the
very low awareness of prospective garage door buyers(10%). By having exclusive dealers,
Palladium will be on the forefront in certain markets and aggressively start to build up sales to
reach the goal of 12.5

For analysis purpose, we used image data acquired on 8 July 2016 while manual measurement of
the canopy height was done on 25 July 2016. Coefficient of variation (CV) was found higher for
canopy height estimated from image when compared to canopy height from ground truth data.
We believe that the higher variation in the table (between manual and image data) is because of
the difference in the dates of manual measurement and capturing of images. Eq. 2 ∑ i∈Nm (y

data into a high dimensional feature space and then a linear model is generated in the feature

accuracy of the model can be achieved by tuning C, kernel and epsilon parameters. Parameter C Fig

Pros And Cons Of Athenian Democracy
It is clear that Plato s opposed the concept of democracy. In fact he ranks both timocracy and
oligarchy as favourable to democracy and maintains that only tyranny is a less preferable form of
government (Plato 1955 ). John Wild believed The most serious charge against Plato from a
modern point of view is that he is an enemy of democracy. (Thorson 1963) In his book the
republic he describes what he perceives to be the ideal state, in so doing he lays out his criticisms
of the Athenian democracy. His criticisms are as follows : inherent class tension, the pillars of
equality and liberty and the ability of normal people to rule justly. Inherent class tensions appear to
be a serious criticism by Platoof the democratic system. He believed ordinary citizens lack
discipline and respect for authority. They did not have reason to follow the rules that the rulers had
put down upon them. It [democratic society] goes on to abuse as servile and... Show more content

Democracy is based on the belief that every citizen has the right to have a say in the running of
the city, no matter how much knowledge they have. In contrast, in his utopian society it s the
guardians, who were to be highly trained and educated, that ran government. In the athenian
democracy the key to a successful political career lay in the art of oratory rather than
philosophical and political knowledge. This disgusted Plato as he felt that a system should place
emphasis on value and merit rather than place it on unconditional equality which led to less
knowledgeable people coming to power. He believes everything in nature is part of a hierarchy,
and that nature is ideally a vast harmony, a cosmic symphony ,(Plato 1955) unlike in a democracy
a state should be like nature where people are ranked according to their aptitudes, and definitively
placed in the social hierarchy (Plato 1955) not all made

Differences Of Henry The VIII And Bashar Al-Assad
Matilde Alvarez
Absolute Rulers: Draft 1 Henry the VIII and Bashar Al Assad are an example of two absolute
rulers. Henry the VIII was the famous kind of England and Bashar Al Assad is a modern

does repeat itself. Henry VIII was well known as the king of England who led to the separation
between then England and Roman Catholic Church. During Henrys ruling period, he had
beheaded his six wives , which caused fear into his people. During Henrys ruling he would keep
on marrying many princes and queens, just to have a son who would then heir his thrown. But this
did not happened until his sixth wife, Katherine Parr. Henry had then died on the year 1547. Bashar
Al Assad is known as a dictator of Syria, who after the death of his father, they believed that Bashar

##equality In A DollпїЅs House And A Midsummer Night s Dream
Both Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream portray men
as superior, leading to a common theme of gender inequality and discrimination within
relationships. In Shakespeare s work, there is a comical aspect, downplaying the societal issue,
but Ibsen s work is very dramatic, casting a more serious light on the sexual discrimination. In
Ibsen s work, A Doll s House, the setting is 1879, during the Victorian Era. During this time,
women were assigned to an inferior role: Stay home and attend to the children and housekeeping
while the men work. This system rested on the idea that women were inferior to men, the two
genders not socially nor legally equal. Nora is the primary example of a woman constricted by
social role. From the very beginning of the play, it is clear that Torvald holds all of the power in
the relationship. Nora is treated as a child, being called discriminating names such as spendthrift
, squirrel , little lark , etc. My little songbird must never do that again. A song bird must have a
clean beak to chirp with no false notes! (Ibsen 26). She is also set to a certain standard and has
to obey Torvald s rules. For example, Nora is banned from eating macaroons because they will
rot her teeth. Controlling what Nora may and may not eat shows just how constricted and
imprisoned she really is. Not only does he control her and what she does, but he insults her as
well. Torvald states, Of course! If only this obstinate little person can get her way! (Ibsen 35).
Do you think I was going to let her remain there after that, and spoil the effect? (Ibsen 53). Nora
is confined to the societal values that show she needs a man by her side in order to take care of
her and to live. Surely you can understand that being with Torvald is a little like being with papa.
(Ibsen 217). This shows that for most of Nora s life, she s been under the control of a man. She
wasn t only under his control, but begged him for things like money as well, furthering her need
for a man. Mrs. Linde also plays a stereotypical role, fulfilled by the happiness and service of
others. I only feel my life unspeakably empty. No one to live for anymore. (Ibsen 143). She also
states I want to

Should Henry Come Out Of The Closet Essay
Question: Should Henry (the 15 year old boy) come out of the closet and not keep his sexuality
a secret from his family and friends? Yes, I feel that Henry should come out of the closet. Ethical
Principle 1 (Rights): Sexual orientation is inherent in every human being. It is something
beyond our control and it wasn t Henry s choice to be homosexual. It is his basic human right to
decide if he wants to come out . If he does, he should not be judged as he definitely has reasons
for doing so. He is probably tired of hiding himself and what he truly is. Homosexuals are human
as well. It is wrong for society to place Henry as a subject for discrimination just because they
perceive homosexuality as unacceptable. Instead, he deserves equal rights... Show more content on

People are judgmental and will discriminate when they can t accept differences. When trouble
comes, it is your family that supports you Guy Lafleur. In worse case scenarios where his own
family is unable to accept his sexuality, what more can we expect from the cruel society? It may
result in Henry living in self destruction and psychological distress. Addressing the negative
impact: Since family acceptance would mean the greatest, my suggestion is to put Henry s
family through counselling. Although it may be a long process, it will help change their
perceptions and slowly accept Henry for who he is. There is a need for society to learn to accept
homosexuals. One solution is to increase the number of counselling and support centres. By doing
so, it encourages more homosexuals to accept themselves, thus making it more socially acceptable.

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Thyroid And Hypothyroidism There are many different types of thyroid diseases. The two I would like to discuss are hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. These two thyroid diseases have a few similarities and many differences. Hyperthyroidism is known as an overactive thyroid which occurs when the thyroid gland overproduces thyroid hormones causing the body s natural functions to accelerate (University Michigan, N.D.). On the contrary, hypothyroidism is known as an underactive thyroid which occurs when the thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormone which leads to the body s natural functions slowing down. Hypothyroidism is more common, affecting five to twenty percent of people in the United States. Meanwhile, only one percent of people in the United States ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fatigue and muscle weakness are some symptoms of both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. The process for diagnosing hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism is exactly the same which includes laboratory test, thyroid scan, and radioactive iodine uptake test. The laboratory test for diagnosing both are thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test and thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI) test (University Michigan, N.D.). Treatment for both diseases is remarkably different. Hyperthyroidism treatment consists of radioactive iodine, antithyroid medication and sometimes a beta blocker to alleviate symptoms (Milas, 2014). There are two antithyroid medications available in the United States methimazole, also known as Tapazole, and propylthiouracil. Tapazole and propylthiouracil both stop the thyroid from producing T3 and T4 hormones. The most common treatment for hyperthyroidism is radioactive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Career in Social Work A Career in Social Work I chose to do research on a career as a social worker because, based on my Holland and MBTI code, this career best combines the conventional, social, and realistic aspects of my personality. I also feel that this career choice corresponds with my personal values, as it will allow me to channel my communication and problem solving skills towards helping disadvantaged individuals and families. Entering the social work field requires considerable preparation. In California, as in most states, a bachelor s degree in social work (BSW), as well as the completion of additional coursework hours in areas such as child abuse assessment and alcohol/chemical dependency, is the minimum requirement to become a Licensed Bachelor s Social Worker (LBSW). An LBSW must work under the supervision of a Licensed Master Social Worker or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licenses which both require a master s degree in social work (MSW). Most California State University campuses in the southern California area offer accredited degrees in social work. In particular, the University of Southern California offers a top ranked online MSW program. Full time social workers must also be prepared to work 40 hours per week, occasionally working evenings and weekends to meet deadlines, meet with clients, or handle emergencies. Paying great attention to them is a sure way to understand how to keep sabotaging your relationships over and over again. Read and internalize with the fullest attention. 1. Never take responsibility for your part in the failure of your relationships. Always blame your partners. Taking responsibility shows that you too might be wrong. This can take away some of the respect and love your partner feels towards you. Being sure you are always right is the best way to prove your integrity and show how strong you are! 2. Don t ever try to get in touch and understand the needs which might drive you to sabotage your relationships. Trying to understand what might drive you to sabotage your relationships means that you don t know yourself 100%. It means you don t know who you truly are. In today s world, where knowledge is power , not knowing who you are is a weakness. You can t allow yourself to believe and assume you have personal needs you are not aware of which might drive you to harm your relationships. There is no reason for you to even consider the possibility that you have needs which cause you to sabotage your relationships (such as: the need to always be in control which drives your partners away from you; the need to always get attention and love which makes you too dependent on your partners; the need to always be right which makes you an unpleasant and ... Dystopian science fiction films of the past have frequently presented a critical dystopia, by projecting future cities that perpetuates corporate capitalism s prominent features. These replicants represent capitalism s oppressive characteristics and also to a certain extent the rebellion against exploitation. Deckard s realization of how the Tyrell Corporation exploits him, and the rebellion of the replicants against their oppressors, is the ultimate critique of capitalism. • 8. Bismarck And Kaiser Wilhelm s Foreign Policy Maya Epstein Mr. LeRoy Honors History 1 21 October 20151.Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm were two German officials around the time of world war one. They both had foreign policies and they were both pretty different. Bismarck s foreign policy had many aims. One of the aims was to leave territorial expansion behind. He unified Germany and to do so had to incorporate many other states into Prussia. He was also very much in favor of peace instead of war. He also never tried to strengthen the naval forces of Germany especially not to ruin the relationship with England. Next, he decided to keep France isolated as well as friendless so that could not start a war as revenge. He also focused on Germany s relationship with Austria and Russia. He also distrusted Italy. Kaiser Wilhelm s foreign policy differed from Bismarck s in many ways. Whereas Bismarck did things based on logic Kaiser Wilhelm did things more based on emotion. This resulted in incoherence and inconsistency in the German relations with other nations. He wanted an empire that could rival the size of the british. He also managed to alienate the English by aggressively expanding the navy. He was more aggressive and wanted Germany to be the best. Their decisions were significant to World War one in many ways. One of the ways was it fueled European tension prior to the war. The different countries did not like some the things either of the leaders were doing, and that did not help much. Assembling In The Iliad Ethan Medley English 2332 877 Professor Brooks 28 September 2017 Assembling in The Iliad (Holding councils of war or holding assemblies) Every great war in history has been determined, to some extent, by the powerful strategies executed by one party of the war. These strategies , most of the time, are not the brainchild of one individual, but more or less a group of people collaborating toward one strategy effective enough to turn the tides of battle. The most effective way for important leaders to voice their opinions for their next endeavor is achieved through the use of assemblies. Assemblies were very important to the armies in the Trojan War , as both sides had great power, meaning that cunning strategy would be the winning factor for one of the parties involved in the Trojan War. However, assemblies held during the Trojan War were more one sided toward the authoritative figures rather than a true collaboration between leaders and wise men. These assemblies follow a simple pattern: a leader calls out to the army to form an assembly when he sees it fit; then, the leaders and wise men then collaborate and voice their opinions on the matter at hand; and finally, the figure with the highest authority in the assembly decides what to do next as a result of the assembly. The assembly begins with an important leader calling for one when he sees it fit to form one. Security And Security Techniques Overall information systems hardware, software, networks and data resources need to be protected and secured to ensure the effective performance of an organization. One security technique used by organizations to protect their computer systems from security threats is encryption this is a method used by organizations to send data to others it works by using special mathematical algorithms to convert the data into scrambled code before transmission and when the data is received it is decoded when an authorized user accesses it. In my opinion, this is very effective because it stops people from being able to read or use data if they intercepted it as the is in a scrambled letter and number form. Another securitytechnique is a firewall this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion, Anti virus software and Anti Spyware Software is very effective because it stops malicious software getting onto a computer which could steal or leak sensitive company data. One security technique is protecting systems with usernames and passwords to access any equipment, wireless networks and sensitive data should be guarded with unique usernames and passwords for each member of staff, this is for two reasons it is an added layer of security so if someone hacks in they have to get passed the password and it also allows companies to see what exactly their employees are accessing, also the passwords that are used should be very strong so the passwords should include numbers, letters and symbols and not have standard dictionary terms or dates such as birthdays which are easy to guess. In my opinion, usernames and passwords are very effective because it makes it harder for hackers to hack in and it allows companies to keep an eye on employees for example they will be able to see what files they are accessing and if they are a risk to the company. One more security technique is keeping sensitive data out of the cloud, Cloud computing offers businesses many benefits like being a cheaper way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Implementation Of Physical Restraints And Behavioral Health Implementation of Physical Restraints Paper Shawnte Hill Arkansas State University Instructor: Brenda McKinney Implementation of Physical Restraints in Behavioral Health Introduction In behavioral health nursing, using physical restraints is a very integral aspect to the overall health and well being of patients and staff. Although this is still a very prominent and sensitive subject amongst healthcare professionals, I deemed it important that my facility implement and utilize physical restraints on our behavioral health unit. Nurses need to be educated on the use of restraints, which lead to my self education on this topic. She deemed my idea credible to the needs of our unit, and encouraged me to gain as much research and information as I could that pertained to the subject. Along with my Unit Nurse Manager, we set up a meeting with the RN Chief of Nursing, Unit Psychiatrist, and Unit Medical Director to present my research finding on Week 3. After their approval, my Unit Medical Director, RN Nurse Manager, Unit Nurse Manger, and I met with CEO later that same week. He approved our budget, and agreed that the hospital will cover all fees associated with this project. On week 4, I met with the Unit Nurse Manager and we unveiled the implementation plan to the remainder of the staff. After revealing the plan to staff, they assisted me in devising a plan that would allow to us be properly educated and trained on the use of physical restraints. Week 4 was the week when my plan really started to come to life. We had a two and a half day training class on the proper use of physical restraints in mental health facilities. After being trained and receiving our order of restraints, we put the restraints on the beds and were ready use them only if the unfortunate situation presented itself. Week 6 is where I ultimately reviewed the effectiveness of the restraints, and documented my findings. Project Implementation As I have previously mentioned, the use ... The Effects of Cold on Blood Pressure and Pulse THE EFFECTS OF COLD ON BLOOD PRESSURE AND PULSE Abstract The ability known as thermoregulation is a feature of an organism that help to keep the body temperature within certain thresholds, thus independently from external conditions. A dynamic state of thermal balance of human body between its internal environment and the territory is a model example of precise control of organism heat. In the case where such stability would be disturbed the immediate response would appear as well. In accordance with the thermodynamic principles the flow of the heat will occur without change of the state (Houdas and Ring, 1982). • 26. Adam And Eve By Ursula Le Guin Adam and Eve is a biblical story told over the centuries. For those who are not aware of the story, it is a passage from the Bible. In Genesis 2:19 20, God creates the animals, and Adam chooses their names: Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. As Eve unnamed the animals, she felt the disconnection between herself and them thinning. She understood that names should be selected cautiously because they do in spirit determine purity. She anticipates that namelessness will bring sacredness since all life will be on equivalent levels, with no clear barriers or hierarchies of power. No living being knows its place because there are no categories for the beings to fall under with namelessness. Eve says that this was more or less the effect she had been after and that it turned out to be somewhat more powerful than she had expected (1242). Looking at this through a feminist s eye now, the story is about women undoing what man did. In the naming process that man took, the names were generally man centered, but the feminist goal is for gender neutral language, which can be easily achieved if there was no name in the first place. She, on the other hand, does not wish to anger man and thus tries to show gratitude to man for his care and protection. She calls her name a gift since it made her a part of man, and thus she profits in some extent from man s dominance of the earth. She gives voice to the voiceless, hope to the outsider Guin shows that the era of male superiority must end. Every environment sample had its own growth rate and bacteria diversity. The primary reason may be that conditions are rarely optimum. Scientists who study bacteria try to create the optimum environment in the lab: culture medium with the necessary energy source, nutrients, pH, and temperature, in which bacteria grow predictably. Most of the strains used in the classroom either require oxygen for growth or grow better with oxygen. These bacteria will grow better on agar plates, where air readily diffuses into the bacterial colony, or in liquid cultures that are shaken. Since diffusion of oxygen into liquid depends on the surface area, it is important to have a large surface; volume ratio. This means that cultures will grow best in flasks in which the volume of liquid is small relative to the size of the vessel. Also another factor that affects growth is the nutritional medium. Bacteria grow best when optimal amounts of nutrients are provided. The you have to see it to believe it mentality is a major aspect as to why people have a hard time understanding mental illness, and why in turn patients with mental illness have a hard time getting the help they need. In comparing the texts, Night Rhythms and The Yellow Wallpaper, these distinct differences between physical and mental illnessare highlighted. The idea of not believing in what is not tangible is shown in the beginning of Night Rhythms, in the description of the woman s husband. It says, He scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in figures (p. ) . This is significant because mental illness cannot always be felt, seen, or put down in figures. Society is more understanding and sympathetic of physical illness than mental illness. In these two texts, the illnesses described are cerebral palsy and postpartum depression. Cystic fibrosis is a congenital disease that affects motor skills. This is a physical illness. Postpartum depression occurs after a mother delivers her baby. After delivers, the hormone levels in the mother s body drop and this combined with sleep deprivation and new stress can leave the mother feeling very down. This is a mental illness. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Center for Disease Control (CDC), influenza viruses are divided into three types, designated as A, B, and C. Influenza type C usually only causes either very mild symptoms or no symptoms at all. Types A and B, however, are responsible for epidemics of respiratory illnesses that can result in hospitalization, or even death. Influenza is constantly changing over time by mutations. This continual change allows the virus to evade the antibodies that were meant to kill it. A host infected with influenza virus develops antibodies against that virus; as the virus changes, the first antibody no longer recognizes the newer virus and infection can occur because the host does not recognize the new flu virus as a problem until the infection is well under way. The first antibody developed may, in some instances, provide partial protection against infection with a new influenza virus. This man knew exactly what he was doing when he killed his girlfriend, and whether he feels bad about it or not isn t up to the law to decide. Pistorius fatally shot Steenkamp in his home in the early hours of Feb. 14, 2013. He said he mistook her for an intruder, while the prosecution said he killed her intentionally after an argument. There is concern whether the current distribution strategy used by Palladium would be adequate to achieve the goal. Although Palladium s growth has been steady over the past 10 years the market share was only at 2.6%. The firm s senior executives were firmly believed they justified this lofty sales goal because they had to attain a larger sales volume to preserve its buying position with suppliers. Palladium, during its growth, has exceeded the industry growth. There are three new plans on how to reach the goal. There are four different viewpoints on the marketing decision. ... Several executives did not want to change either the distribution strategy or the dealers, but rather look internally on how to do a better job with the current distribution channel. Recommendations: It would seem very favorable for Palladium to implement alternative 2 of developing the franchise program. The addition of 27 exclusive dealers would definitely increase sales and out of the 3 alternatives, it provides the least increase in cost and/or the largest increase in sales. So in order for Hawly to meet his goal of $12.5 million With the exclusive dealers in place they can improve the brand image also. By adding the 20% budget they can increase the very low awareness of prospective garage door buyers(10%). By having exclusive dealers, Palladium will be on the forefront in certain markets and aggressively start to build up sales to reach the goal of 12.5 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mixed Linear Analysis mixed linear model (Zhang et al. 2010) implemented in the GAPIT package (Lipka et al. 2012) in R. determines the trade off between misclassifying training examples and minimizing the norm of the weights. Parameter controls the band of the insensitive zone that in turn affects the number of support vectors in building the regression function. Bigger means lesser support vectors and produces more flat estimates. III. A LGORITHM D ESCRIPTION Decision Tree (DT) is used to build regression or classification models in the form of a tree structure. Coefficient of variation (CV) was found higher for canopy height estimated from image when compared to canopy height from ground truth data. We believe that the higher variation in the table (between manual and image data) is because of the difference in the dates of manual measurement and capturing of images. Eq. 2 ∑ iв€€Nm (y i в€’ C m ) 2 Eq. 3 Random forest is a variation of Decision Tree which generates different regression trees at training time and outputs the mean prediction of the individual trees. Support Vector Machines are a particular type of algorithms that uses kernels and provides control on deciding the margin or the number of support vectors. The basic goal is to map nonlinearly the data into a high dimensional feature space and then a linear model is generated in the feature space. The quality of estimation is measured by the insensitive loss function. High performance accuracy of the model can be achieved by tuning C, kernel and epsilon parameters. • 44. Pros And Cons Of Athenian Democracy It is clear that Plato s opposed the concept of democracy. In fact he ranks both timocracy and oligarchy as favourable to democracy and maintains that only tyranny is a less preferable form of government (Plato 1955 ). John Wild believed The most serious charge against Plato from a modern point of view is that he is an enemy of democracy. (Thorson 1963) In his book the republic he describes what he perceives to be the ideal state, in so doing he lays out his criticisms of the Athenian democracy. His criticisms are as follows : inherent class tension, the pillars of equality and liberty and the ability of normal people to rule justly. Inherent class tensions appear to be a serious criticism by Platoof the democratic system. He believed ordinary citizens lack discipline and respect for authority. They did not have reason to follow the rules that the rulers had put down upon them. It [democratic society] goes on to abuse as servile and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Democracy is based on the belief that every citizen has the right to have a say in the running of the city, no matter how much knowledge they have. In contrast, in his utopian society it s the guardians, who were to be highly trained and educated, that ran government. In the athenian democracy the key to a successful political career lay in the art of oratory rather than philosophical and political knowledge. This disgusted Plato as he felt that a system should place emphasis on value and merit rather than place it on unconditional equality which led to less knowledgeable people coming to power. He believes everything in nature is part of a hierarchy, and that nature is ideally a vast harmony, a cosmic symphony ,(Plato 1955) unlike in a democracy a state should be like nature where people are ranked according to their aptitudes, and definitively placed in the social hierarchy (Plato 1955) not all made ... • 46. ##equality In A DollпїЅs House And A Midsummer Night s Dream Both Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream portray men as superior, leading to a common theme of gender inequality and discrimination within relationships. In Shakespeare s work, there is a comical aspect, downplaying the societal issue, but Ibsen s work is very dramatic, casting a more serious light on the sexual discrimination. In Ibsen s work, A Doll s House, the setting is 1879, during the Victorian Era. During this time, women were assigned to an inferior role: Stay home and attend to the children and housekeeping while the men work. This system rested on the idea that women were inferior to men, the two genders not socially nor legally equal. Nora is the primary example of a woman constricted by social role. From the very beginning of the play, it is clear that Torvald holds all of the power in the relationship. Nora is treated as a child, being called discriminating names such as spendthrift , squirrel , little lark , etc. My little songbird must never do that again. A song bird must have a clean beak to chirp with no false notes! (Ibsen 26). She is also set to a certain standard and has to obey Torvald s rules. For example, Nora is banned from eating macaroons because they will rot her teeth. Controlling what Nora may and may not eat shows just how constricted and imprisoned she really is. Not only does he control her and what she does, but he insults her as well. Torvald states, Of course! If only this obstinate little person can get her way! (Ibsen 35). Do you think I was going to let her remain there after that, and spoil the effect? (Ibsen 53). Nora is confined to the societal values that show she needs a man by her side in order to take care of her and to live. Surely you can understand that being with Torvald is a little like being with papa. (Ibsen 217). This shows that for most of Nora s life, she s been under the control of a man. She wasn t only under his control, but begged him for things like money as well, furthering her need for a man. Mrs. Linde also plays a stereotypical role, fulfilled by the happiness and service of others. I only feel my life unspeakably empty. No one to live for anymore. (Ibsen 143). • 48. Should Henry Come Out Of The Closet Essay Question: Should Henry (the 15 year old boy) come out of the closet and not keep his sexuality a secret from his family and friends? Yes, I feel that Henry should come out of the closet. Ethical Principle 1 (Rights): Sexual orientation is inherent in every human being. It is something beyond our control and it wasn t Henry s choice to be homosexual. It is his basic human right to decide if he wants to come out . If he does, he should not be judged as he definitely has reasons for doing so. He is probably tired of hiding himself and what he truly is. Homosexuals are human as well. It is wrong for society to place Henry as a subject for discrimination just because they perceive homosexuality as unacceptable. Instead, he deserves equal rights... In worse case scenarios where his own family is unable to accept his sexuality, what more can we expect from the cruel society? It may result in Henry living in self destruction and psychological distress. Addressing the negative impact: Since family acceptance would mean the greatest, my suggestion is to put Henry s family through counselling. Although it may be a long process, it will help change their perceptions and slowly accept Henry for who he is. There is a need for society to learn to accept homosexuals. One solution is to increase the number of counselling and support centres. By doing so, it encourages more homosexuals to accept themselves, thus making it more socially acceptable.
