The Pros And Cons Of The Predator C
The Predator C, Avenger developed and built by General Atomics Aeronautical, is an upgraded
version of its predecessors the MQ 1 and MQ 9 and is meant to support military operations well
into the next decade. Powered by a Pratt Whitney PW545B turbofan engine the Avenger is
capable of speeds up to 400 knots true air speed (KTAS), and operational altitudes of up to
50,000 feet, well outpacing its predecessors (CITE). The Avenger has also been further
optimized to reduce its Radar Cross Section (RCS), making it less detectable by enemy air
defenses. Beyond its ability to out fly the original Predator UAS, the Avenger is able to be
equipped with a more capable and configurable sensors and weapons package. These advancements
make the Predator C Avenger the most capable and universal hunter killer type UAS... Show more

This, in fact, could prove to be very limiting for its use in military operations outside of the U.S.
Navy. At one point during the development of the MQ 8 series, the U.S. Army briefly tested a
four bladed version of the MQ 8A, but quickly halted testing concluding that the smaller and
cheaper Raven could provide the same capabilities (CITE). Although the MQ 8C has improved
lifting capacity, the Army has not shown renewed interest in the new platform. The Avenger on
the other hand has a massively configurable weapons delivery system. Capable of carrying
weapons as large as 2,000 pounds, such as hellfire missiles, and a variety of smaller weapons, the
Avenger stores its weapons payload inside a bay in its fuselage. This highly configurable bay
allows up to seven different kinds of weapons to be easily reconfigured in order to support a wide
variety of hunter killer type missions (CITE). In addition, the weapons package can be completely
swapped out for a sensors package, furthering its already superior ISR

Descriptive Battle Of Trenton
Battle of Trenton It was nightfall, on what was supposed to be a night of warm cozy homes and
families. Instead we have to spend it out in the cold at war. December 25, 1776 is a to
remember. We crossed the sparkling frozen Delaware River in small little boats. We were on our
way towards Trenton for an ambush on the British. The ice had been scraping at my feet through
my worn down shoes the ice and snow slowly seeping in freezing my toes one by one. When we
got there the mercenaries that were hired for this war had been knocked out from their grand
Christmas feast. We had completely caught them off guard. They had woken up in surprise. It
was amazing. I had felt a heavy weight had been lifted off of my chest, for I believe this was the
first of many to come. Washington had taken 868 prisoners that night. Jake, Acon Battle of
Saratoga Burgoyne. The Lieutenant General of the British army. The sweet taste of victory has
reached my mouth. Surprisingly we had gotten him to surrender. The taste of victory has a sweet
tang to it, but a hidden bitterness underneath of all the sugariness. This surrender will change the
course of this war, this is our first actual victory. The date has been engraved into my mind just
ringing over and over again like a bell. October 17, 1777, the date that will echo in my head as
time goes on. This has shown that we Americans can stand up to the British. Not long after this
victory the French had become allies with us sending us various supplies.

Okonkwo Patriarchy
Patriarchy in this society also seems to cause dehumanization. One instance is seen through
Ikemefuna who is given up to Umuofia as a sacrifice for killing one of the women of Umuofia.
Ikemefuna was given to Okonkwo without his agreement. However, he became close to Okonkwo
and his family and soon even became a role model to Nwoye. Okonkwobegan considering him his
son and Ikemefuna could hardly imagine that Okonkwo was not his real father (7.59). Nwoye
seems to be becoming more masculine and, Okonkwo was inwardly pleased at his son s
development and he knew it was due to Ikemefuna (7.52). Yet the rules of the tribe are that you
must listen to the elders and the spirit. This rule was probably made by the first great tribes and

The Democratic Party
The Democratic Party was formed in 1792. Its name was adopted in the 1830s during Jackson s
presidency. It is the world s oldest existing political party (Democratic Party). The Northern and
Southern Democrats had issues dealing with slavery, which caused them to split in 1860.
According to the Democratic Party , the Southern Democrats wanted to protect slavery in all the
territories while many Northern Democrats resisted. The party was also known as the white man s
party and demonized the Republican Party as being Negro dominated, even though whites were in
control (Democratic Party). The party s platform deals with a lot of controversial topics. For
example, abortion. Democrats believe Abortion rights are fundamental constitutional liberty and
abortion should be available regardless of a woman s ability to pay (ABC News). They believe
that abortion is completely up to the parents of the child. Another example is education. They
want affordable preschool for all children, higher teacher salaries, higher standards for teachers,
students and states, triple number of charter schools, [and] let more parents choose from among
public schools (ABC News). In 2015, the President announced a landmark proposal to make
community college free to anyone who is willing to work for it (@TheDemocrats). They want to
make it easier for children attending school and allow teachers to earn a better salary. Another issue
is gay rights. The Democrats are all for them. They

Compare and contrast Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and...
Introduction
The current essay focuses on two different therapeutic techniques, Acceptance and Commitment
Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. The initial component of the essay outlines the
therapeutic orientations of both approaches; then, the different approaches are related to a case
study of a young lady called Linda who is seeking counseling due to feelings of hopelessness. The
essay is then finished with some of the author s personal opinions on the two therapeutic
approaches.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
While Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has been in development since the 1980 s, it
has only recently risen to prominence and is sometimes described as a new wave therapeutic
technique. ACT is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
SFBT holds that language and words are very important, and that helping clients talk about their
lives in more useful language can lead to positive change. One of the major differences between
SFBT and other psychotherapies is that while SFBT acknowledged that clients tend to come to
therapy to talk about their problems, the SFBT will not encourage them to talk about their
problems, but rather to talk about solutions (Rafter, Evans and Iveson, 2012).
One of the central assumptions of SFBT is that the client will choose the goals for therapy and that
the client themselves have resources which they will use in making changes (Macdonald, 2011).
The therapeutic conversation aims at restoring hope and self esteem, while reducing anxiety to a
point where people become able to think more widely and creatively about solutions. SFBT holds
that high anxiety can restrict cognition and attention to the surrounding environment and that, by
reducing anxiety, it would allow for wider thinking about possible approaches to problems, as well
as mobilizing their existing strengths and resources to address their desired goals (Rafter et al,
2012).

Positivist Theories Of Law And Morality
Positivist theories of law can be described as those who understand the law to be a particular sort
of social ordering, a certain kind of social technology by which individuals who live together can
coordinate their behaviour and resolve disputes. Positivist theories also state that there is no
necessary connection between law and morality and rejects the idea of a higher law. Classical legal
positivismwas first founded by Jeremy Bentham (1748 1832). Bentham s aim was to provide an
alternative to what he saw as errors of the conventional jurisprudenceof his time. His ideas were
later developed by John Austin, who promoted the Command Theory of law. HLA Hart was very
much in favour of legal positivism; however, he didn t agree with some of the concepts outlined
by Austin. He analysed the classical theories of positivism, particularly those of Austin and
Bentham and attempted to update this view of law. His argument for legal positivism challenged
many of the concepts laid out by the classical theorists. This essay will, therefore, examine Hart s
argument, in favour of legal positivism, look at his analysis of other positivists theories as well as
criticisms of his own theory, notably that of Dworkin, and come to a conclusion on whether he
provides a persuasive argument in favour of positivism.
John Austin s theory on positivism was one of the main theories in which Hart critiqued in his legal
positivism argument. Austin promoted the Command Theory of law, within

The Pros And Cons Of Voting
One example of registration laws that effect voter participation includes the House Bill 1355. In
2011 Florida voted on House Bill 1355 placing new regulations on community organization that
have helped eligible voters to register (Herron, Smith 2013). Seeing as Florida is a swing state and
every four years during presidential electionsthe state and its residents can determine who will be
the next president of the United States, it s important for communities and organizations to
mobilize the people to go out and vote. Although a federal judge in 2012 later blocked the
legislation that was making it difficult for third party registration organizations the damage was
already done. For a prominent voting organization opted out of doing registration drives when the
House Bill 1355 was initially passed (Herron, Smith). The implementation of the Bill influenced
the upcoming presidential election in 2012 by slowing the voter registration of thousands of
Floridians. Bills like the 2011 House Bill 1355 only raises the cost in the rational choice model
making it only more probable that people will just opt out of voting because they don t want to
deal with the time consuming process. When registering to vote one must adhere to the states laws
and comply with the process of registration. Because each state has their own legislation and laws
that their residents must follow, it crucial for people to get some information on the state
registration process in order to vote.

Proposal For Red Bull
Marketing Research Proposal Red Bull
Red Bull is one of the greatest energy drink companies in the world. The iconic Blue and Silver
can has become a symbol for vitality, helping people with work and play. Its catchphrase, Red Bull
gives you wings! is a testament to the sort of imagery energy drinks wish to portray.
The brand Red Bull came in to existence in 1984, with its first product launched in 1987, making
it a pioneer in the global energy drink market. The idea came about to Mr. Dietrich Matechitz
while in Thailand. He noticed managers drinking a beverage called Krating daeng prior to
meetings to stay awake and focused. Upon trying the beverage, he found it to have a relieving
effect on his jet lag. He went on to collaborate with the creator of the drink, Chaleo Yoovidhya, and

In light of this, Red Bull has positioned itself as a drink for youths, and with the right promotional
mix, these could lead to an increase in sales.
In order to make its brand relate to the masses of a country, Red Bull will produce labels in the
respective country s language. With this, a higher cost is incurred when launching the drink in
different geographic areas. Nevertheless, Red Bull recognizes the importance of communicating its
brand identity as this would bring about an increase in brand equity and thus, sales revenue in the
future.
With the advancement of social media and technological platforms, Red Bull has had to improve its
communication strategies and promotional tools to be more effective and relevant. These help to
advertise and promote the product, therefore providing a new way of communicating with the
consumers. Promotional tools such as social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
has had massive effect on the consumers, especially the youth as they can better relate to these

Volkswagen Business Ethics Essay
Abstract
In this paper, we will look at the business ethics controversy that was caused by Volkswagen and
the company had to pay up to $15 billion dollars to settle a civil court case. The controversy was
caused when it was found out that Volkswagen had installed a device in their diesel engine cars.
This device reduced pollution caused by the engine when it was being tested for emissions. This
resulted in cheating the authorities and promoting Volkswagenas an environmentally friendly car
when it was not actually one. It had these devices installed on most of its car models. The
company initially had an increase in sales but then was eventually caught and had to pay a large
sum of money as mentioned above to settle a lawsuit.

Volkswagen Business Ethics
On September 18, 2015 Volkswagen hit the news with a scandal relating to unethical practices
involved in the production of its diesel cars (McHugh, 2015, October 12, para. 3). Volkswagen
used a device to pass the emissions test when the emissions on these cars were higher than the
allowed levels; thereby the company cheated the system.
Emissions Device The company declared that it had a cheat device installed on its 11 million
diesel operated cars. What the device did was that it lowered the engines emissions when it was
going through an emissions test. The car easily passed the emissions test and later the device
returned emission levels back to normal,

Carbon Dioxide Content Lab Report
The results are listed in order of increasing carbon dioxide content. The lowest being pepperoni
and the highest being roast beef. Both of these are meat products but they have very different
compositions and storage methods, as the beef was frozen in liquid and the pepperoni was in an
air sealed package at room temperature. The foods with a lot of lipids in them, like pepperoni,
turkey, roast beef, and walnuts all had the lowest oxygen contents. The carbohydrate based foods,
like oatmeal, noodles, and mac and cheese had the highest oxygen concentration in their headspace.
This is because they are not as easily oxidized as the other products. There was not a very specific
pattern of proportionality when comparing the amount of carbon dioxide to the amount of oxygen
in the headspaces. One thing that did stand out was that the lowest oxygen contents are found at the
top (highest carbon dioxide concentration) and the bottom of... Show more content on

Things like the type of food, type of packaging, storage method, and expiration time can all be
taken into consideration when trying to make the shelf life of the product longer by finding the
optimum headspace composition. Orange juice was of the only liquids in a paper container, and
is a very acidic liquid. I would expect this to make it have extreme oxygen or carbon dioxide
contents because of these factors, but it was right in the middle of the spectrum for both. The first
five products in the chart are all stored at room temperature, but the chilled or frozen products had
higher carbon dioxide contents. Many of the meat or lipid rich products had the lowest oxygen
concentrations. The lipids have low oxygen contents because the rate of oxidation of fatty acids
increases with degree of unsaturation. Oxygen causes quality deterioration and loss of nutritional
value in these products so manufacturers and scientists like to keep it as low as possible in these

Explain The Conflict Perspective
The conflict perspective, on the other hand notes that power plays an integral role in defining
what should be regarded as devious behavior. The group in power, such as Jerry Springer and
Maury impose to the people what is deviant and punished on stage while seemingly entrenching
what they regard as good even if it does not go down well with what society deems acceptable.
Further, the conflict theory provides another alternative to the perspective on social life regarding
talk shows. This perspective stresses that society is made up of groups that are competing with one
another for scarce resources. There seem to be some power struggles in the midst of the alliances
or cooperation that may prevail on the surface. The machinery of control represents

Augustan Poetic Tradition Essay
Augustan Poetic Tradition
I do not in fact see how poetry can survive as a category of human consciousness if it does not put
poetic considerations first expressive considerations, that is, based upon its own genetic laws which
spring into operation at the moment of lyric conception.
Seamus Heaney, The Indefatigable Hoof taps (1988)
Seamus Heaney, the 1995 Nobel laureate, is one of the most widely read and celebrated poets now
writing in English. He is also one of the most traditional. Over a decade ago, Ronald Tamplin
summed up Heaney s achievement and his relation to the literary tradition in a judgment that
remains sound today: In many ways he is not an innovative poet. He has not recast radically the
habitual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heaney, in fact, is one of the most skilled practitioners of traditional verse forms writing at present.
And since the poetic revolution is long over, and unrhymed, unmetered verse free verse has for the
better part of the last century been the norm, one is justified in asking why a serious contemporary
poet would be attracted to formal strains that lost their dominance some time around December
1910.
To answer this question I propose to focus on one of my favorite Heaney poems, The Outlaw, from
Door into the Dark (1969). The poem is written in that most untwentieth century of verse forms, the
heroic couplet (that is, rhymed iambic pentameter couplets: aa, bb, cc, etc.). What would attract
Heaney to such an uncontemporary even antiquated verse form, one that seems so inappropriate for
the subject matter of his early poetry? After all, would Harold Pinter be likely to compose a
neoclassical tragedy in the style of Addison s Cato? As I hope to show, the success of Heaney s
poem as brilliant, I think, as the widely anthologized Digging lies in his mastery of the couplet
form and particularly in his exploiting its formal resources for his own poetic purposes. To
appreciate this achievement fully, the reader needs to set the poem not just in relation to the rural
Irish themes of Heaney s early poetry, but also and more importantly in the

Advantages And Differences Between Two Career And...
There are advantages and disadvantages do both two career and one career families. A two
career house requires each parent holding a substantial, full time job. Both are out of the house
for a good part of the day, which would call for child care if they have kids who are too young to
stay at home alone. Having a two career familytakes longer for parents to build a bond with their
child. A one career family involves one parent working and the other at homing taking care of the
children. This keeps the children less unsatisfied. Looking at it this way makes one think that a one
career family would be better for a family.
There are many things that can differ when talking about a two career and a one career family.
One is time a parent and a child spend together. Things that are very important when raising a child
is time spent with the child and giving the child free time for entertaining activities. This is very
easy to accomplish in a one career household due to the one stay at home parent. With this, the
child lives a more diverse life, which is what every parent wants in their kid. The child that is
attended to at a young age will often be lead to treating their own children the same way.

one career family with a stay at home parent can lead to a beneficial effect on a child s future. As
a child grows up, they start to realize all the lessons they have been taught as a kid and begin to
utilize them to help them become more successful later on in life. One would think that a one

The Letter Of The Hebrews
The Letter to the Hebrews was clearly written in regards to a specific group of Christians who
were under some type of dilemma in regards to their religion (Rayburn 1490). Most everything
else about this letter though is unclear. The true author of the letter, audience, and location of
this audience all remain uncertain to this day. The letter has been attributed to the apostle Paul,
however early scholars still cannot be sure if he was the true author. They actually believe that it
is more likely that he is not the author. Even though Paul has been credited with writing this
letter, there are many reason why scholars think that this appears to be more and more unlikely.
For one, all of Paul s other letters indicate that he wrote them. It is not a characteristic of him to
keep his letters anonymous. Another indication that scholars have examined is that the overall
style of writing and content in this letter is much different than in any of the others. In addition,
Hebrews 2:3 seems extremely unlikely to be able to connect up with Galatians 1:12 in the sense
of where the messages were first received (Rayburn 1490). Hebrews 13:23 reference to Timothy
gives us insight that he was a friend of both the writer and the readers, which can limit the author
to someone who was a member of Paul s circle. A biblical scholar by the name of Origen once
stated, Who it was that really wrote the Epistle [Hebrews], God only knows (Dockery 749).
Because of this, the author of Hebrews and

Thomas Haitian Revolution Analysis
Shady Kamel
Second Revolutions: Thomas Jefferson and Haiti Beginning in 1789, France s political landscape
was completely transformed by the chaotic bloodshed that resulted from the country s absolute
monarchy and feudal system. Backing the United States in the American Revolution left France on
the verge of bankruptcy, but the Revolution also lay as a precedent for the French to follow soon
after. Impacted by the rising enlightenment ideology of inalienable rights, the French depicted the
strength of the will of the people and successfully altered the government to better suit the needs of
its citizens. Simultaneously, France influenced the rise of another revolution one that would alter
society and the social constructs that society revolves around the Haitian Revolution. Professor
James Alexander Dun argues, however, that the term revolution is not used as a noun in this
instance, and is in fact used as an adjective to further illustrate its descriptiveness and uniqueness to
the situation. He believes that a revolution is constituted by a certain series of events , but that the
Haitian revolution is more complex than this. Professor Dun s conclusion that a revolution shouldn
t be viewed as a thing, but rather, should be looked upon as a description is a fascinating assertion
as it challenges conventional thinking, and tailors the term to any particular event such as with
France and Haiti. This reasoning expands upon the words adaptability and was necessary

Are Writing Skills Necessary In The Work Force Analysis
I believe writing skills are necessary in the work force. For example if I was sent out on a job to
go and fix someone s computer, I would have to record and document data for my job. It is a
necessity for two reasons, one to explain to the customer what I had done to their computer, and
what they should do in order to prevent the matter from happening again. Secondly I would use
my documentation to prove my worth to my boss, in order to show what I do on the job, and why
I am an asset to the company. In the article Mr. Pillai stresses the importance of writing, and why
they are vital to everyday routines. Granted I do agree with some of the points Mr. Pillai makes I
do feel as if some of these are not needed to be stressed as much as he believes

The Theory Of Mechanical And Organic Solidarity And Anomie...
When approaching the film Fight Club, the average eye would not expect to have the opportunity
to delve into the visual instrument serving as the illustrations of the classic social theorists Marx,
Weber, and Durkheim. The analysis of this film throughout this paper will begin with connecting
Marx s ideologies of commodity fetishismto the narrator s fixation on his items rather than
indulging in life, all while taking a close look at the members of Fight Club. Secondly, Durkheim s
theories of mechanical and organic solidarity and anomie will be analyzed throughout the amount
of compliance given by the members of the radical group. This is followed by a shift in focus which
delves into how Weber s theories of legitimate domination exploit the culture of the underground
society formed by the charismatic authorityof Tyler Durden. The film opens to the narrator s
apartment being blown up, where he reveals throughout a conversation with himself how he was
not disappointed necessarily with the fact that he no longer had shelter, instead he was fixated on
the undeniable fact that the Ikea furniture purchased was not salvageable. This incident within itself
slightly hints at what Marx labels as the fetishizing of commodities to the point where one may not
realize the effect capitalismhas over them. The Ikea furniture was a continuous serving reminder of
the single staple that represented his earnings and handwork; all while the narrator subconsciously

The Constrained Court Model Created By Gerald N. Rosenberg
The Constrained Court model created by Gerald N. Rosenberg, proves that the courts are weak,
powerless, and ineffective for change among race, class and gender ideologies.. Using Lisa
Frohmann s article, Convictability and Discordant Locales; in which she is reproducing race, class
and gender ideologies in Prosecutorial Decision making . Frohmann uses discordant locales as a
bridge to describe how prosecutors work in sexual assault cases. Rosenberg and Frohmann
demonstrate that the courts are not effective unless they overcome these constraints, set in the
constrained court model. According to Rosenberg and Frohmann social reform is nearly
unachievable, through the district attorney and victim cross examination interview and jury
assumptions. As Rosenberg specified in order to establish social reforms the following constraints;
limited nature of constitutional rights lack of judicial independence, judiciary s lack of power
implantation and inability to develop appropriate policies need to be eradicated.
The Dynamic Court view s claim that a major contribution of the courts in civil rights was to give
the issue clarity, press political elites to act, poke the consciences of whites, legitimate the
grievances of blacks, and fire blacks up to act is not demonstrated. In all the places examined,
where evidence supportive of the claim should exist, it does not. The concerns of clear
acknowledgement, time, and increased press coverage all cut against the theory.

Whitewashing, By T. E. Lawrence Of Arabia
T.E. Lawrence was a Welsh born British Army officer and a major player in the Arab Revolt
during World War I. Film director David Lean s 1962 epic historical drama, Lawrence of Arabia,
tells his story, particularly his attacks on Aqaba and Damascus, and his involvement in the Arab
National Council, which created new states in the region and established present day the Middle
East. The movie, as compelling and historically and culturally significant as it is, however, can be

What Is The Evolution Of Gay Pride Parades
The evolution of the gay pride parade
Over the past 42 years, annual gay pride parades have become tradition in dozens of cities
worldwide. They have evolved from radical marches to enjoyable festivals of celebrations with
elaborate floats, and notable participants. This annual parade has been a way of celebrating LGBT
history and diversity. These gay pride parades haven t always been all happy, and full of beautiful
rainbows though. In the beginning, 1969, they were portrayed as somber marches taking
determined stands on gay rights. This research paper will specifically focus on the evolution of
pride parades from 1969 to the present, and how the parades influenced the law.

The previous, loosely organized somber marches, and parades were taken over by more
organized and less political elements of the gay society. The marches began dropping the names,
and labels of freedom , and liberation , replacing them with the world wide known philosophy of
Gay Pride . According to Wikipedia, many parades still have at least some political or activist
character, especially is less accepting locations. However, in more accepting locations, the parades
take on a festive like character where the political stage is built on the enjoyable atmosphere of
celebrations. These large parades often involve floats, dancers, drag queens, and loud, amplified
music, but even such celebratory parades usually include the political and educational aspect on this
certain situation. Local politicians, and marching groups from known LGBT institutes join the
celebration to continue their support for open gay pride. Other typical parade participants include
local LGBT friendly churches such as Metropolitan community churches, and LGBT employee

Stock Car Racing Research Paper
Stock car racing has been around for a long time dating back into the 1900s. In the very
beginning race cars were not the safest cars out there. Some people lost their lives and many life
changing injuries were to follow. As the years passed the safety and speed increased in racing.
After the founding of NASCARthe sport evolved. Each principle in the sport had a chemistry
related reason to back the decision. The metal alloys and the densities combined with the property
of each metal plays a huge part. The added elements to the gasoline makes the cars not only faster
but also more durable under the stressful conditions put on the engine. Scientist for companies also

Many of the bars and metals on the car are alloys of some sort. Alloys are mixtures of metals to
get certain properties needed that not only one metal can produce. Many metals need to be bent
at precise angles but still need to be extremely strong. Alloy combinations have changed
throughout the evolution of the sport. The text states One of the first widely used alloys was
bronze (copper and tin); followed by brass (copper and zinc). The benefits of an alloy over a
pure metal can include increased tensile strength, and shear strength ( harberger). The multiple
combinations show that as more alloys were discovered they utilized them if the provided any
advantage. Some of the first alloys used in the cars used copper as a main element in the
mixture. Mixing these elements gave the meatal the best of both worlds. It could increase more
than one type of strength when a pure metal was only good for one. As time evolved other
elements such as carbon got a key role in the alloys. The author states The body panels have a
lower carbon steel, which is lighter, while the chassis, which has to withstand great forces during
the race and protect the driver, is made of higher carbon steel that is designed to hold its shape
while withstanding the g force pressures (hartberger). The more carbon steel the more rigid and
strong the alloy becomes. The body must be light and flexible so it contains less carbon

Reconstruction Era Essay
The Reconstruction Era
America s great Reconstruction Era took place in the 1865 1877 time frame lasting a little over 14
years containing some of the most important moments in America s history. Creating freedom and
natural rights to all. The Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendment were created in this item
period supporting most reasoning towards the Reconstruction Era introducing a series of laws and
constitutional amendments to try to secure civil and political rights for black people
The Thirteenth Amendment was one of the most influential amendments to have ever been passed
in our country and meant an ending to slavery. It passed by the Senate on April 8th in 1864 and by

President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st in 1863 announcing that
all people held as slaves shall be free. Lincoln hoped to inspire all blacks and slaves in the
Confederacy even though the proclamation was limited in many ways. It applied only to states that
had seceded from the Union, leaving slavery untouched in the loyal border states. While the
freedom was promised depended upon the Union military victory. The Emancipation Proclamation
did not end slavery in the nation but shaped the reasoning for war. Approximately 200,000 black
soldiers and sailors had fought for freedom and the Union. This confirmed the battle a war for
freedom. For all that the Emancipation Proclamation did for freedom, it is now taken place among
the great documents of human freedom.
This amendment effected our nation in many ways. It negatively affected families and friends
relationships by choosing their own sides of the wars and what they felt were right. Some white
farmers had to sell their farms due to losing slave workers and most whites were unhappy. By
abolishing slavery we were able to make many positive changes as well including the economy.
Many job opportunities opened up for white people due to the lack of slaves while blacks had a
hard time finding jobs at first but were even able to eventually find jobs for
themselves(ushistory.org,2008 2017). As

Jane Eyre Gender
This purpose of this essay is to examine Charlotte Bronte s analysis of Victorian gender roles
found within Jane Eyre. For most readers, Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre is much more than an
iconic Gothic novel set within the Victorian Era. In my opinion, it s a story about a young
woman who not only defies gender role, but also the social class in an attempt to live her life; but
in her own way. On top of that, readers began to view Jane as a somewhat unexpected heroine of
Bronte s novel, that while facing innumerable obstacles within a tough social class, becomes
something more by the end of the story. I believe that another purpose for Bronte s novel is to
show readers that women like Jane Eyrecan rise above the oppressive environment of... Show more

One of the main issues brought up in putting this sort of product out to the public is the privacy
issue. There is somebody who knows where the user is, every second of every day. With this,
great deal of privacy and security is at risk. This kind of knowledge is very tempting for those
who may not have the best intentions. Management may misuse or sell the information that the
product provides. People have almost no protection from businesses that want to use your
personal records for profit, so who is to stop them from doing it? The GPA can be used to
develop precisely targeted information concerning thier personal habits. Hackers also may be
able to access information for their own personal gain. Another issue brought up is the reliance on
databases. A slight error in the information can have a major effect on somebody s life. It is
extremely difficult to detect inaccurate information in databases. There have been many cases of
database errors ruining people s lives. Is it right to record somebody s personal information when
there is room for human error?

Symptoms And Treatment Of Depression Essay
Introduction Depression is determined when a person has negative feelings towards them self

Song Of Solomon Discrimination Quotes
normalization, by the society they live in, of the way these women are treated goes hand in hand
with the way men seem to discard them so easily, because in Song of Solomon the women are the
ones who get left behind. Morrison tries to break the stereotypical characterization of the women s
dependency on men, for instance by creating characters like Pilate who are more than capable to
break free.
In the novel it is noticeable that some of the women are those who seem to be unable to fly and
suffer the most at the hand of the characters who are able. They are trapped in their marriages,
crushed by heavy burdens and try to survive day by day. (Morrison, 1977) Some women seem to
be grounded and trapped on earth. They are obsessive and rely on the safe and familiar places
they have known their whole lives , for instance Ruth Foster Dead, she is milkman s mother and
the daughter of the first negro doctor in town. (Morrison, 1977) Ruth has been mentally abused by
her husband and lives a loveless existence, against one s better judgment, Ruth stays married to

The Legacy Of Ted Bundy
Theodore Robert Cowell, more notoriously known as Ted Bundy, was born in Burlington, Vermont
on November 24, 1946. Bundy was raised by his grandparents for the first three years of his life in
order to avoid public disgrace from their community due to the fact that Bundy s mother had him
out of wedlock. As a young boy, Bundy was under the notion, along with the community around
him, that his grandparents were his parents and his mother was his older sister. At the age of four,
his mother left with Bundy to live in Philadelphia and there met her new husband, Johnny Bundy.
Together, they resulted in conceiving four children and despite the fact that Johnny Bundy had
adopted him; he continued to stay secluded from the rest of the family. His childhood overall is
controversial; in interviews, Bundy described his grandparents as respectful and was very
attached to his grandfather. Later on, it was revealed to attorneys by other family members and
himself that Bundy s grandfather, Samuel Cowell, was a domineering and prejudice person.
Different reports from beating his wife and the family dog to pushing Bundy s aunt down a
flight of stairs were claimed to have happened. His grandmother however, was described by
Bundy as being humble and loyal who went through therapy for depression. Bundy started
exhibiting his abnormal behavior at a young age, reports from his aunt stating she woke up from a
nap to discover she was surrounded by knives and a three year old Bundy was standing over

The Occupational Hazard Of The Coal Mining Industry
A research study provided by Harvard concluded that individuals who did not have access to an
adequate health insurance policy had a forty percent higher risk of death than there more
financially inept counter parts. According to this study an average of one American dies every
thirty minutes due to lack of adequate health care due to financial ineligibility. The work force
also known as middle class americans are truly the ones who are directly affected by the
intelligibility to afford decent health care. Consequently working class americans are the ones
who traditionally are the unhealthiest due to the nature of many of the individuals careers. For
example, black lung is known occupational hazard in the coal mining industry. Starting in 1968,
there have been 75,000 death contributed to black lung. It was not until 1978 that the coal miners
were compensated for sickness and death contributed to black lung disease. The debate on
whether or not health care is an inalienable right has been discussed since the late 1800 s. During
the reformer and progressive era the federal government took little to know interest in reforming
the health regime in America. The choice was given to the individual states to decide on what the
best method would be. This is when the states ultimately left the health care side of politics to
private and voluntary programs. Up until 1915 health care was not a discussion worth while to the
federal government. Theodore Roosevelt believed every

The Theories Of The Theory Of Evolution
Eighty seven percent of American scientists believe that a series of random chemical and
biological events produced mankind. However, the philosophical theory of evolution has no solid
evidence, whereas creation can be proven. Science is supposed to be based on observation, right?
The best theories satisfy the test of experimentation. No one can test if evolutionhappened. Non one
can prove that evolution actually happened. But what evidence can we place against evolution?
In 1859, Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species, introducing the theory of evolution.
One hundred and fifty six years later, scientists still accept this senseless philosophy. House
Majority Leader Tom DeLay states, Our school systems teach the children that they are nothing
but glorified apes who are evolutionized out of some primordial soup (Snyder). Schools
worldwide have presented exactly this to the young, impressionable minds of your future doctors,
engineers, scientists, and presidents. They assure us that if we give a small amount of mud
enough time it can, by itself, bring about the art of da Vinci, the plays of Shakespeare, the music
of Mozart, and the brilliant mind of Einstein. I would like you to take just a moment and think

God s Omnipotence Or Almighty
According to Grudem, God s omnipotence means that God is able to do all his holy will (216).
Omnipotence is defined as all powerful. Examples of God s omnipotence or almighty power is
seen in Ps.24:8, Gen.18:14, and Jer. 32:17. God is capable of things beyond our imagination as
seen in Eph 3:20 and nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37 and Matt. 19:26). Godhas the will to do
whatever he pleases that even humankind has not seen before (Ps. 115:3).
However, people often question God s omnipotence when they hear that He is all powerful and
nothing is impossible for him. Can God sin? Can God die? The response to this is that God is
able to do anything that is not against his character; hence, Grudem s definition God is able to do
all his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prov. 16:9 emphasizes this thought by saying that despite man s tendency to plan their life, God
ultimately moves throughout their life. In addition, God controls and care for the animals.
(Matt.6:26, Matt. 10:29, Ps. 104:27). These scriptures demonstrate God know his creation
intimately. This also include the weather as seen in Ps. 148:8, Job 37:6 13, Ps. 135:6, and Ps.
104:14. Even random or chance events as people often deem as luck or coincidence is according to
the Lord (Prov. 16:33). Finally, God controls all aspects of human lives. Humans are dependent on
God as seen in Matt. 6:11. God knew us before we were born. (Ps. 139:16) and our character and
gifts were given by God (1 Cor 4:7).
Despite knowing that God is sovereign and controls all, it is extremely important to know that
our choices and actions still causes the future to happen. God may control everything and know
everything, but that does not diminish the fact that humans still have the power to choose their
actions. God loves humankind to where He has made man and given him the power of willing
choice. Joshua 24:15 shows a situation where man is given the choice to decide to serve God or
John 3:16 where man can decide to accept Christ. Man has free will to decide what to do.
God is omniscient in that He knows everything and knows all things possible. God knows the past,
present, and the future. In fact, God knows each man on earth. An example of such knowledge is
that God

Healthcare Comparison of the Usa and Nigeria
Four Main Differences between the healthcare systems in Nigeria and the USA.
Paul Fortune
College of Nursing After living in my native country, Nigeria for nearly twenty years of my life, I
had the opportunity to relocate to the United States of America to live with my Dad while pursuing
a career in Nursing. On getting to the United States of America or the USA as it is commonly
called, I discovered how lovely and different the country really is. The USA was a lot different
from what I had heard from stories back home in Nigeria. The previous three years, since January
2009 to be precise, has provided me first hand experience of some major differences between my
country of origin and the United States of America. In comparison, ... Show more content on

The buses run on a strict schedule most of the time; many are spaced out between every thirty
minutes to an hour. An alternative to riding the bus was catching a cab which was expensive.
This transportation process is very different from Nigeria where there is always a bus or taxi
running by the streets looking for passengers to pick up, most transporting up to four different and
unrelated passengers at the same time. Often the maximum amount of time a person would have
wait to catch either a cab or bus is five minutes. Nigerian cabs usually have a fixed price form one
stop to another, and most of the time prices can be bargained down.
Thirdly, the other major difference in between the United States of America differs from Nigeria is
the Climate. In United States of America there are four seasons in a year namely fall, summer,
spring and winter. Winter starts from December through February, and then comes spring which
starts from March through May, followed by summer from June through august and finally fall
/ autumn which start from September through November. While in Nigeria we have just two
season comprising of the raining and dry season (harmattan). The raining season usually begins
around February or march and last till around September. In September the dry season kick in and
last through January. It snows in United States of America while there has never been a record of
snow in Nigeria.

The Impacts of Decisions and Outcomes in Hernando Tellez’s...
As human beings, it is inevitable to face moral dilemmas in life. When it comes to decision making
of a complex situation, individuals often consider their own values and consequences to their
actions. Hernando Tellez s Lather and Nothing Else and Edith Pargeter s The Purple Children
demonstrate the conflicts a person has with themselves when approached with a challenging
situation which requires decision making. The barber from Lather and Nothing Else and the sentry
from The Purple Children demonstrate the importance of placing one s own values as a priority
when making a difficult choice because it will allow the individual to make peace with the
outcome. Individuals who give more worth to penalties that would put themselves at risk than those
costs that do not affect them as much are more likely to be content with their decisions. For
example, the temptation of murderthat the Barber felt when shaving Captain Torres was overruled
by the punishments that the Barber would have to encounter, He wouldn t suffer. But what would
I do with the body? Where would I hide it? I d have to run, leaving all of this, take cover far, far
away. But they would follow me until they ran into me. Captain Torres murderer. He cut his throat
while he was shaving him. What a coward (Tellez). This establishes an in depth moral dilemma that
the barber encounters when deciding to give in to his temptations or to stick to his values as a
person. This conflict represents the flood

By extracting water from the water table, it can result in a cone of depression that may extend
beyond the system boundary; hence the water table is excluded from the analysis. Subsystems The
campus can be divided roughly into three areas: Upper Campus пѓ Botany Street to Central
Lecture Block Middle Campus пѓ Electrical Engineering Building to Red Centre East Wing Lower
Campus пѓ UNSW Business School to Anzac Parade Each area can be divided into three
subsystems: Paved areas (walkways and roads) Buildings (rooftops) Vegetation (lawns, ovals, flora)
The manner in which the subsystems relate to each other is governed by the direction of water flow
and surface properties of the subsystem. Generally, rainfall onto hard surfaces (buildings and paved
areas) either results in runoff into gutters and vegetation or water detention; the opposite is not true,
as vegetative areas are generally much more permeable, meaning more water detention. Figure 2
Subsystem interaction based on direction of water flow Input The input of this system is the

The Ego s Weapons Against Id and Superego
Naturally, every person has psychological weapons to protect against anxious feeling or
threatening thoughts that will harm their mind or body. The ego is a powerful soldier that uses his
weapons against the conflicting demanding between the id and the superego that can result in
anxious feelings in a person. The ego powerful weapons are called defense mechanisms , it means
the process that the ego uses to distort reality to protect itself , a theory developed by Sigmund Freud
s psychoanalytic approach (Friedman, 2016). The defense mechanism acts to lower or deflect
anxious feelings that treat a person, which some defense mechanisms will be explained below.
First, the reaction formation is the process which a person behaves opposite their true feelings
against a person or event. It means a reflection of the person who desperately fights against
feelings that they unconscious seeks but they tried to avoid because it is immoral or shameful
according to their beliefs. For example, a high schooler boy acts with hate toward his classmate.
However, his true feelings for her is love. But he denies these feelings because he feels shame like
her. All in all, behaving through reaction formation is the process people suffocated their true
feelings towards a person or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to avoid pain or confrontation, which their mind tries to keep out of the conscious awareness. For
example, an abusive husband hit his wife saying that she provokes him to hit her, it is her fault for
everything. Also, children lie when they know that telling the truth they will be punished by their
parents. All in all, denial is the defense mechanism that an individual behaves to avoid

Unit Assessments and Corrective Actions: Overall, all four unit belts, gears, and wirings are in
great working conditions. With the exception of a single F631 incident, coin inside note recycler

few opportunities for user training, certified technician training, hardware and software

removed all torn notes prior to this meeting. It appeared that an associate inserted a penny inside

Linda Mccartney Research Paper
Linda McCartney If slaughterhouses had glass walls, the whole world would be vegetarian.
Linda McCartney. Strong words from a strong woman who stood up for what she believes in.
She has done so many good things for the progression of society and to change people s way of
thinking about so many issues. She was often the butt of the joke, but she never let that keep her
down. She was not only the wife of the rock star of the 60 s, Paul McCartney, but she was an
animal rights activist, a photographer, and the keyboard player in Wings. Even through the chaos
of the 60 s and the criticism she faced, Linda McCartney still managed to be a great photographer,
keyboard player, and animal rights activist. There were many chaotic things that happened in the 60
s including the Hippie movement, the Vietnam War, Beatlemania, and the civil rights movement.
The Hippie movement was based upon the idea of having peace and ending the war in Vietnam.
Along with the idea of peace, of course, came the fashion. The Hippie go to outfit would be the tie

Themes Of Kipling
Orwell and the Underlying Themes of Kipling In an assessment of Rudyard Kipling s work,
George Orwell claims Kipling is is a jingo imperialist, he is morally insensitive and aesthetically
disgusting. Orwell assesses Kipling s work as being outdated from a nineteenth century
imperialist outlook that is no longer applicable to modern society. He disclosed Kipling s lack of
knowledge on economic forces giving reason behind Kipling s stories not syncing with the
natural history that took place after. He exposes Kipling s weaknesses as only being able to
write about things that have already happened, confining Kipling as only a writer of his time.
Orwell compares Kipling to a shameful pleasure, like the taste for cheap sweets that some
people secretly carry into middle life. Orwell is not completely critical of Kipling. For example,
he believes Kipling appeals to audiences by communicating as the voice of the common man. He
writes from the heart and appeals to audiences, not financially, but emotionally. Orwell also finds
Kipling s realistic vision of war to be impressive, since he had not physically been in battle.
Furthermore, Orwell defends Kipling against the false allegations of being a Fascist. Orwell
claims He [Kipling] was further from being one than the most humane or the most progressive
person is able to be nowadays. Though it is evident that Kipling s imperialist viewpoint heavily
influences his writing, Orwell s interpretations of The White Seal and

Richard Louv s Last Child On The Woods ( 2008 )
The twenty first century comprises fast improving technology that alters people s lives. The world
adapts to technological use as the standard way of life, and those who do not apply it are
considered out of touch. Society has become too reliant on their smartphones, televisions, and video
games that people are delusional about the world around them and tend to go outside less and stay
inside more, hiding from humanity. Statistics say that technologykeeps friends, family, and co
workers in touch, but it does not keep them in touch with nature. Today, civilians are separated
from reality by new advancements that are supposed to enhance people s lives for the greater
good, although all of these new advancements create a predicament, a predicament that keeps
humanity from reality. The passage, Last Child in the Woods (2008), by Richard Louv discusses
how children of this centenary are developing a dependence on technology. These children are
vulnerable to the brutality of reality because they are not instructed how to survive outside of
their environmentally friendly homes and their electronically engineered cars. They grow up
knowing what a billboard looks like for various advertisements and to know how to work an
iPhone at the age of four. Children are isolated by these new creations and are manipulated into the
world of technology. All they see is an artificial world of consumerism. Richard Louv writes that:
Advertisers already stamp their messages into the wet

Advantages of leapfrogging technology innovation in Nigeria
. Effects on Small medium enterprise (SME s)
Grace Chimezie for PPOL 786
Abstract
This paper views the effects of innovative technologies to spur ideas, using hack ways to find useful
alternatives to compete in the fast paced driven technological world.
Introduction
Mobile technologies and PC devices have played a key role in innovation and the business growth
of small scale businesses in Nigeria. In 2016 over 68% of the nation s population had access to
mobile phones and 93.75 million connected to the internet (Quartz Africa). Even as lower smart
phone prices drive a digital revolution in Nigeria, Nigerians still pay a significant amount of their
income to make phone calls or surf the internet.
There often remains a persistent and troubling gap between the inherent value of the technology
they develop and their ability to put it to work effectively. Successive Nigerian governments have
missed the mark as well as the thrust in the application of her potential for progress and poverty
alleviation except for few cases where implementation of policies by the Central Bank of Nigeria
(CBN) to reduce movement with physical cash and enforcing the adoption of Mobile banks called
(POS) machines.
Statement of the Problem
Nigeria suffers from high unemployment and a large portion of the population lives below the
poverty line. A significant number of the small and medium enterprises, which constitute over 80

apostle, while he was imprisoned. This letter was written to the church in Ephesus. Ephesus is
located in the western Asia Minor at the mouth of the Caster River, an important Seaport (HCSB,

The biblical city of Ephesus, is located as mentioned prior in the western Asia Minor at the mouth
of the Cayster River as seen in the map to the left. The great location for the city of Ephesus
made it a crucial seaport and a central location for commercial growth. At the time of the Apostle
Paul the city of Ephesus was said to be the fourth largest city in the world (Holman Illustrated
Bible Dictionary, eBook). Although this city represents a great part of the Christian movement
and the Ephesians church, it wasn t founded as such. The city of Ephesus was founded by a
group of people called the Leleges and Carians which were later driven out by the Greek. The
worship of the goddess of fertility was the religious practice of the time. Disaster struck the city in
365 B.C. when a fire destroyed the Artemision Temple. Finally, the city was completely taken over
and rebuilt by the Romans, which was the influence that made it the fourth largest city in the world.
This great city was associated with the ministries of Paul, Timothy and the Apostle John. These
great men played a significant role in spreading early Christianity throughout this city and

Woolf On Lies
The struggle that women had to endure through the centuries has been rooted deeply to the idea
that women are inferior to men. Men, as the stronger sex, were thought to be intelligent,
courageous, and determined. Women, on the other hand, were more governed by their emotions,
and their virtues were expected to be chastity, modesty, compassion, and piety. Men were thought
to be more aggressive; women more passive. Women education was primarily at home by
mothers or fathers. The education comprised of the arts of sewing, water color, and polite
conversation for the upper class and domestic work for lower classes. Those who did attempt to
educate themselves in the male subjects of Greek and Latin were measured by male standards of
scholarship when they attempted to express themselves in print. While this might not be the
current situation for women in society women had to fight to get where they are right now. In this
paper, I will to be discussing two visionary women who saw that women needed change their
position in society. I will be discussing Virginia Woolf
s A Room of One s Own and Adrienne Rich
On Lies, Secrets, and Silence: Selected Prose and their arguments about the states of women s
education. In this paper I hope to prove that the women used the power of words to express their
personal struggle for other women to understand there are not alone;... Show more content on

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of The Predator C The Predator C, Avenger developed and built by General Atomics Aeronautical, is an upgraded version of its predecessors the MQ 1 and MQ 9 and is meant to support military operations well into the next decade. Powered by a Pratt Whitney PW545B turbofan engine the Avenger is capable of speeds up to 400 knots true air speed (KTAS), and operational altitudes of up to 50,000 feet, well outpacing its predecessors (CITE). The Avenger has also been further optimized to reduce its Radar Cross Section (RCS), making it less detectable by enemy air defenses. Beyond its ability to out fly the original Predator UAS, the Avenger is able to be equipped with a more capable and configurable sensors and weapons package. These advancements make the Predator C Avenger the most capable and universal hunter killer type UAS... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This, in fact, could prove to be very limiting for its use in military operations outside of the U.S. Navy. At one point during the development of the MQ 8 series, the U.S. Army briefly tested a four bladed version of the MQ 8A, but quickly halted testing concluding that the smaller and cheaper Raven could provide the same capabilities (CITE). Although the MQ 8C has improved lifting capacity, the Army has not shown renewed interest in the new platform. The Avenger on the other hand has a massively configurable weapons delivery system. Capable of carrying weapons as large as 2,000 pounds, such as hellfire missiles, and a variety of smaller weapons, the Avenger stores its weapons payload inside a bay in its fuselage. This highly configurable bay allows up to seven different kinds of weapons to be easily reconfigured in order to support a wide variety of hunter killer type missions (CITE). In addition, the weapons package can be completely swapped out for a sensors package, furthering its already superior ISR ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Descriptive Battle Of Trenton Battle of Trenton It was nightfall, on what was supposed to be a night of warm cozy homes and families. Instead we have to spend it out in the cold at war. December 25, 1776 is a to remember. We crossed the sparkling frozen Delaware River in small little boats. We were on our way towards Trenton for an ambush on the British. The ice had been scraping at my feet through my worn down shoes the ice and snow slowly seeping in freezing my toes one by one. When we got there the mercenaries that were hired for this war had been knocked out from their grand Christmas feast. We had completely caught them off guard. They had woken up in surprise. It was amazing. I had felt a heavy weight had been lifted off of my chest, for I believe this was the first of many to come. Washington had taken 868 prisoners that night. Jake, Acon Battle of Saratoga Burgoyne. The Lieutenant General of the British army. The sweet taste of victory has reached my mouth. Surprisingly we had gotten him to surrender. The taste of victory has a sweet tang to it, but a hidden bitterness underneath of all the sugariness. This surrender will change the course of this war, this is our first actual victory. The date has been engraved into my mind just ringing over and over again like a bell. October 17, 1777, the date that will echo in my head as time goes on. This has shown that we Americans can stand up to the British. Not long after this victory the French had become allies with us sending us various supplies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One instance is seen through Ikemefuna who is given up to Umuofia as a sacrifice for killing one of the women of Umuofia. Ikemefuna was given to Okonkwo without his agreement. However, he became close to Okonkwo and his family and soon even became a role model to Nwoye. Okonkwobegan considering him his son and Ikemefuna could hardly imagine that Okonkwo was not his real father (7.59). Nwoye seems to be becoming more masculine and, Okonkwo was inwardly pleased at his son s development and he knew it was due to Ikemefuna (7.52). • 6. The Democratic Party The Democratic Party was formed in 1792. Its name was adopted in the 1830s during Jackson s presidency. It is the world s oldest existing political party (Democratic Party). The Northern and Southern Democrats had issues dealing with slavery, which caused them to split in 1860. According to the Democratic Party , the Southern Democrats wanted to protect slavery in all the territories while many Northern Democrats resisted. The party was also known as the white man s party and demonized the Republican Party as being Negro dominated, even though whites were in control (Democratic Party). The party s platform deals with a lot of controversial topics. For example, abortion. Democrats believe Abortion rights are fundamental constitutional liberty and abortion should be available regardless of a woman s ability to pay (ABC News). They believe that abortion is completely up to the parents of the child. Another example is education. They want affordable preschool for all children, higher teacher salaries, higher standards for teachers, students and states, triple number of charter schools, [and] let more parents choose from among public schools (ABC News). In 2015, the President announced a landmark proposal to make community college free to anyone who is willing to work for it (@TheDemocrats). • 7. Compare and contrast Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and... Introduction The current essay focuses on two different therapeutic techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. The initial component of the essay outlines the therapeutic orientations of both approaches; then, the different approaches are related to a case study of a young lady called Linda who is seeking counseling due to feelings of hopelessness. The essay is then finished with some of the author s personal opinions on the two therapeutic approaches. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy While Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has been in development since the 1980 s, it has only recently risen to prominence and is sometimes described as a new wave therapeutic technique. ACT is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... SFBT holds that language and words are very important, and that helping clients talk about their lives in more useful language can lead to positive change. One of the major differences between SFBT and other psychotherapies is that while SFBT acknowledged that clients tend to come to therapy to talk about their problems, the SFBT will not encourage them to talk about their problems, but rather to talk about solutions (Rafter, Evans and Iveson, 2012). One of the central assumptions of SFBT is that the client will choose the goals for therapy and that the client themselves have resources which they will use in making changes (Macdonald, 2011). The therapeutic conversation aims at restoring hope and self esteem, while reducing anxiety to a point where people become able to think more widely and creatively about solutions. SFBT holds that high anxiety can restrict cognition and attention to the surrounding environment and that, by reducing anxiety, it would allow for wider thinking about possible approaches to problems, as well as mobilizing their existing strengths and resources to address their desired goals (Rafter et al, 2012). • 8. Positivist Theories Of Law And Morality Positivist theories of law can be described as those who understand the law to be a particular sort of social ordering, a certain kind of social technology by which individuals who live together can coordinate their behaviour and resolve disputes. Positivist theories also state that there is no necessary connection between law and morality and rejects the idea of a higher law. Classical legal positivismwas first founded by Jeremy Bentham (1748 1832). Bentham s aim was to provide an alternative to what he saw as errors of the conventional jurisprudenceof his time. His ideas were later developed by John Austin, who promoted the Command Theory of law. HLA Hart was very much in favour of legal positivism; however, he didn t agree with some of the concepts outlined by Austin. He analysed the classical theories of positivism, particularly those of Austin and Bentham and attempted to update this view of law. His argument for legal positivism challenged many of the concepts laid out by the classical theorists. This essay will, therefore, examine Hart s argument, in favour of legal positivism, look at his analysis of other positivists theories as well as criticisms of his own theory, notably that of Dworkin, and come to a conclusion on whether he provides a persuasive argument in favour of positivism. John Austin s theory on positivism was one of the main theories in which Hart critiqued in his legal positivism argument. Austin promoted the Command Theory of law, within ... • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Voting One example of registration laws that effect voter participation includes the House Bill 1355. In 2011 Florida voted on House Bill 1355 placing new regulations on community organization that have helped eligible voters to register (Herron, Smith 2013). Seeing as Florida is a swing state and every four years during presidential electionsthe state and its residents can determine who will be the next president of the United States, it s important for communities and organizations to mobilize the people to go out and vote. Although a federal judge in 2012 later blocked the legislation that was making it difficult for third party registration organizations the damage was already done. For a prominent voting organization opted out of doing registration drives when the House Bill 1355 was initially passed (Herron, Smith). The implementation of the Bill influenced the upcoming presidential election in 2012 by slowing the voter registration of thousands of Floridians. Bills like the 2011 House Bill 1355 only raises the cost in the rational choice model making it only more probable that people will just opt out of voting because they don t want to deal with the time consuming process. When registering to vote one must adhere to the states laws and comply with the process of registration. Because each state has their own legislation and laws that their residents must follow, it crucial for people to get some information on the state registration process in order to vote. In ... The iconic Blue and Silver can has become a symbol for vitality, helping people with work and play. Its catchphrase, Red Bull gives you wings! is a testament to the sort of imagery energy drinks wish to portray. The brand Red Bull came in to existence in 1984, with its first product launched in 1987, making it a pioneer in the global energy drink market. The idea came about to Mr. Dietrich Matechitz while in Thailand. He noticed managers drinking a beverage called Krating daeng prior to meetings to stay awake and focused. Upon trying the beverage, he found it to have a relieving effect on his jet lag. He went on to collaborate with the creator of the drink, Chaleo Yoovidhya, and thus developed a ... With this, a higher cost is incurred when launching the drink in different geographic areas. Nevertheless, Red Bull recognizes the importance of communicating its brand identity as this would bring about an increase in brand equity and thus, sales revenue in the future. With the advancement of social media and technological platforms, Red Bull has had to improve its communication strategies and promotional tools to be more effective and relevant. • 12. Volkswagen Business Ethics Essay Abstract In this paper, we will look at the business ethics controversy that was caused by Volkswagen and the company had to pay up to $15 billion dollars to settle a civil court case. The controversy was caused when it was found out that Volkswagen had installed a device in their diesel engine cars. This device reduced pollution caused by the engine when it was being tested for emissions. This resulted in cheating the authorities and promoting Volkswagenas an environmentally friendly car when it was not actually one. It had these devices installed on most of its car models. The company initially had an increase in sales but then was eventually caught and had to pay a large sum of money as mentioned above to settle a lawsuit. Keywords: Volkswagen, business ethicscase, lawsuit, leadership Volkswagen Business Ethics On September 18, 2015 Volkswagen hit the news with a scandal relating to unethical practices involved in the production of its diesel cars (McHugh, 2015, October 12, para. 3). Volkswagen used a device to pass the emissions test when the emissions on these cars were higher than the allowed levels; thereby the company cheated the system. Emissions Device The company declared that it had a cheat device installed on its 11 million diesel operated cars. What the device did was that it lowered the engines emissions when it was going through an emissions test. The car easily passed the emissions test and later the device returned emission levels back to normal, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of these are meat products but they have very different compositions and storage methods, as the beef was frozen in liquid and the pepperoni was in an air sealed package at room temperature. The foods with a lot of lipids in them, like pepperoni, turkey, roast beef, and walnuts all had the lowest oxygen contents. The carbohydrate based foods, like oatmeal, noodles, and mac and cheese had the highest oxygen concentration in their headspace. This is because they are not as easily oxidized as the other products. There was not a very specific pattern of proportionality when comparing the amount of carbon dioxide to the amount of oxygen in the headspaces. One thing that did stand out was that the lowest oxygen contents are found at the top (highest carbon dioxide concentration) and the bottom of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Orange juice was of the only liquids in a paper container, and is a very acidic liquid. I would expect this to make it have extreme oxygen or carbon dioxide contents because of these factors, but it was right in the middle of the spectrum for both. The first five products in the chart are all stored at room temperature, but the chilled or frozen products had higher carbon dioxide contents. Many of the meat or lipid rich products had the lowest oxygen concentrations. The lipids have low oxygen contents because the rate of oxidation of fatty acids increases with degree of unsaturation. Oxygen causes quality deterioration and loss of nutritional value in these products so manufacturers and scientists like to keep it as low as possible in these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The group in power, such as Jerry Springer and Maury impose to the people what is deviant and punished on stage while seemingly entrenching what they regard as good even if it does not go down well with what society deems acceptable. Further, the conflict theory provides another alternative to the perspective on social life regarding talk shows. This perspective stresses that society is made up of groups that are competing with one another for scarce resources. • 15. Augustan Poetic Tradition Essay Augustan Poetic Tradition I do not in fact see how poetry can survive as a category of human consciousness if it does not put poetic considerations first expressive considerations, that is, based upon its own genetic laws which spring into operation at the moment of lyric conception. Seamus Heaney, The Indefatigable Hoof taps (1988) Seamus Heaney, the 1995 Nobel laureate, is one of the most widely read and celebrated poets now writing in English. He is also one of the most traditional. Over a decade ago, Ronald Tamplin summed up Heaney s achievement and his relation to the literary tradition in a judgment that remains sound today: In many ways he is not an innovative poet. He has not recast radically the habitual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heaney, in fact, is one of the most skilled practitioners of traditional verse forms writing at present. And since the poetic revolution is long over, and unrhymed, unmetered verse free verse has for the better part of the last century been the norm, one is justified in asking why a serious contemporary poet would be attracted to formal strains that lost their dominance some time around December 1910. To answer this question I propose to focus on one of my favorite Heaney poems, The Outlaw, from Door into the Dark (1969). The poem is written in that most untwentieth century of verse forms, the heroic couplet (that is, rhymed iambic pentameter couplets: aa, bb, cc, etc.). What would attract Heaney to such an uncontemporary even antiquated verse form, one that seems so inappropriate for the subject matter of his early poetry? After all, would Harold Pinter be likely to compose a neoclassical tragedy in the style of Addison s Cato? As I hope to show, the success of Heaney s poem as brilliant, I think, as the widely anthologized Digging lies in his mastery of the couplet form and particularly in his exploiting its formal resources for his own poetic purposes. To appreciate this achievement fully, the reader needs to set the poem not just in relation to the rural Irish themes of Heaney s early poetry, but also and more importantly in the ... • 16. Advantages And Differences Between Two Career And... There are advantages and disadvantages do both two career and one career families. A two career house requires each parent holding a substantial, full time job. Both are out of the house for a good part of the day, which would call for child care if they have kids who are too young to stay at home alone. Having a two career familytakes longer for parents to build a bond with their child. A one career family involves one parent working and the other at homing taking care of the children. This keeps the children less unsatisfied. Looking at it this way makes one think that a one career family would be better for a family. There are many things that can differ when talking about a two career and a one career family. One is time a parent and a child spend together. Things that are very important when raising a child is time spent with the child and giving the child free time for entertaining activities. • 17. The Letter Of The Hebrews The Letter to the Hebrews was clearly written in regards to a specific group of Christians who were under some type of dilemma in regards to their religion (Rayburn 1490). Most everything else about this letter though is unclear. The true author of the letter, audience, and location of this audience all remain uncertain to this day. The letter has been attributed to the apostle Paul, however early scholars still cannot be sure if he was the true author. They actually believe that it is more likely that he is not the author. Even though Paul has been credited with writing this letter, there are many reason why scholars think that this appears to be more and more unlikely. For one, all of Paul s other letters indicate that he wrote them. It is not a characteristic of him to keep his letters anonymous. Another indication that scholars have examined is that the overall style of writing and content in this letter is much different than in any of the others. In addition, Hebrews 2:3 seems extremely unlikely to be able to connect up with Galatians 1:12 in the sense of where the messages were first received (Rayburn 1490). Hebrews 13:23 reference to Timothy gives us insight that he was a friend of both the writer and the readers, which can limit the author to someone who was a member of Paul s circle. A biblical scholar by the name of Origen once stated, Who it was that really wrote the Epistle [Hebrews], God only knows (Dockery 749). Because of this, the author of Hebrews and ... Thomas Haitian Revolution Analysis Shady Kamel Second Revolutions: Thomas Jefferson and Haiti Beginning in 1789, France s political landscape was completely transformed by the chaotic bloodshed that resulted from the country s absolute monarchy and feudal system. Backing the United States in the American Revolution left France on the verge of bankruptcy, but the Revolution also lay as a precedent for the French to follow soon after. Impacted by the rising enlightenment ideology of inalienable rights, the French depicted the strength of the will of the people and successfully altered the government to better suit the needs of its citizens. Simultaneously, France influenced the rise of another revolution one that would alter society and the social constructs that society revolves around the Haitian Revolution. Professor James Alexander Dun argues, however, that the term revolution is not used as a noun in this instance, and is in fact used as an adjective to further illustrate its descriptiveness and uniqueness to the situation. He believes that a revolution is constituted by a certain series of events , but that the Haitian revolution is more complex than this. Professor Dun s conclusion that a revolution shouldn t be viewed as a thing, but rather, should be looked upon as a description is a fascinating assertion as it challenges conventional thinking, and tailors the term to any particular event such as with France and Haiti. This reasoning expands upon the words adaptability and was necessary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example if I was sent out on a job to go and fix someone s computer, I would have to record and document data for my job. When approaching the film Fight Club, the average eye would not expect to have the opportunity to delve into the visual instrument serving as the illustrations of the classic social theorists Marx, Weber, and Durkheim. The analysis of this film throughout this paper will begin with connecting Marx s ideologies of commodity fetishismto the narrator s fixation on his items rather than indulging in life, all while taking a close look at the members of Fight Club. Secondly, Durkheim s theories of mechanical and organic solidarity and anomie will be analyzed throughout the amount of compliance given by the members of the radical group. This is followed by a shift in focus which delves into how Weber s theories of legitimate domination exploit the culture of the underground society formed by the charismatic authorityof Tyler Durden. The film opens to the narrator s apartment being blown up, where he reveals throughout a conversation with himself how he was not disappointed necessarily with the fact that he no longer had shelter, instead he was fixated on the undeniable fact that the Ikea furniture purchased was not salvageable. This incident within itself slightly hints at what Marx labels as the fetishizing of commodities to the point where one may not realize the effect capitalismhas over them. Using Lisa Frohmann s article, Convictability and Discordant Locales; in which she is reproducing race, class and gender ideologies in Prosecutorial Decision making . Frohmann uses discordant locales as a bridge to describe how prosecutors work in sexual assault cases. Rosenberg and Frohmann demonstrate that the courts are not effective unless they overcome these constraints, set in the constrained court model. According to Rosenberg and Frohmann social reform is nearly unachievable, through the district attorney and victim cross examination interview and jury assumptions. As Rosenberg specified in order to establish social reforms the following constraints; limited nature of constitutional rights lack of judicial independence, judiciary s lack of power implantation and inability to develop appropriate policies need to be eradicated. The Dynamic Court view s claim that a major contribution of the courts in civil rights was to give the issue clarity, press political elites to act, poke the consciences of whites, legitimate the grievances of blacks, and fire blacks up to act is not demonstrated. Many metals need to be bent at precise angles but still need to be extremely strong. Alloy combinations have changed throughout the evolution of the sport. The text states One of the first widely used alloys was bronze (copper and tin); followed by brass (copper and zinc). The benefits of an alloy over a pure metal can include increased tensile strength, and shear strength ( harberger). The multiple combinations show that as more alloys were discovered they utilized them if the provided any advantage. Some of the first alloys used in the cars used copper as a main element in the mixture. Mixing these elements gave the meatal the best of both worlds. It could increase more than one type of strength when a pure metal was only good for one. As time evolved other elements such as carbon got a key role in the alloys. Godhas the will to do whatever he pleases that even humankind has not seen before (Ps. 115:3). However, people often question God s omnipotence when they hear that He is all powerful and nothing is impossible for him. Can God sin? Can God die? Prov. 16:9 emphasizes this thought by saying that despite man s tendency to plan their life, God ultimately moves throughout their life. In addition, God controls and care for the animals. (Matt.6:26, Matt. 10:29, Ps. 104:27). These scriptures demonstrate God know his creation intimately. This also include the weather as seen in Ps. 148:8, Job 37:6 13, Ps. 135:6, and Ps. 104:14. Even random or chance events as people often deem as luck or coincidence is according to the Lord (Prov. 16:33). Finally, God controls all aspects of human lives. Humans are dependent on God as seen in Matt. 6:11. God knew us before we were born. (Ps. 139:16) and our character and gifts were given by God (1 Cor 4:7). Despite knowing that God is sovereign and controls all, it is extremely important to know that our choices and actions still causes the future to happen. God may control everything and know everything, but that does not diminish the fact that humans still have the power to choose their actions. God loves humankind to where He has made man and given him the power of willing choice. Joshua 24:15 shows a situation where man is given the choice to decide to serve God or John 3:16 where man can decide to accept Christ. Man has free will to decide what to do. Paul Fortune College of Nursing After living in my native country, Nigeria for nearly twenty years of my life, I had the opportunity to relocate to the United States of America to live with my Dad while pursuing a career in Nursing. On getting to the United States of America or the USA as it is commonly called, I discovered how lovely and different the country really is. Often the maximum amount of time a person would have wait to catch either a cab or bus is five minutes. Nigerian cabs usually have a fixed price form one stop to another, and most of the time prices can be bargained down. • 38. The Impacts of Decisions and Outcomes in Hernando Tellez’s... As human beings, it is inevitable to face moral dilemmas in life. When it comes to decision making of a complex situation, individuals often consider their own values and consequences to their actions. Hernando Tellez s Lather and Nothing Else and Edith Pargeter s The Purple Children demonstrate the conflicts a person has with themselves when approached with a challenging situation which requires decision making. The barber from Lather and Nothing Else and the sentry from The Purple Children demonstrate the importance of placing one s own values as a priority when making a difficult choice because it will allow the individual to make peace with the outcome. Individuals who give more worth to penalties that would put themselves at risk than those costs that do not affect them as much are more likely to be content with their decisions. For example, the temptation of murderthat the Barber felt when shaving Captain Torres was overruled by the punishments that the Barber would have to encounter, He wouldn t suffer. But what would I do with the body? Where would I hide it? I d have to run, leaving all of this, take cover far, far away. But they would follow me until they ran into me. Captain Torres murderer. He cut his throat while he was shaving him. What a coward (Tellez). Orwell assesses Kipling s work as being outdated from a nineteenth century imperialist outlook that is no longer applicable to modern society. He disclosed Kipling s lack of knowledge on economic forces giving reason behind Kipling s stories not syncing with the natural history that took place after. He exposes Kipling s weaknesses as only being able to write about things that have already happened, confining Kipling as only a writer of his time. Orwell compares Kipling to a shameful pleasure, like the taste for cheap sweets that some people secretly carry into middle life. Orwell is not completely critical of Kipling. For example, he believes Kipling appeals to audiences by communicating as the voice of the common man. He writes from the heart and appeals to audiences, not financially, but emotionally. Orwell also finds Kipling s realistic vision of war to be impressive, since he had not physically been in battle. Furthermore, Orwell defends Kipling against the false allegations of being a Fascist. The world adapts to technological use as the standard way of life, and those who do not apply it are considered out of touch. Society has become too reliant on their smartphones, televisions, and video games that people are delusional about the world around them and tend to go outside less and stay inside more, hiding from humanity. Statistics say that technologykeeps friends, family, and co workers in touch, but it does not keep them in touch with nature. Today, civilians are separated from reality by new advancements that are supposed to enhance people s lives for the greater good, although all of these new advancements create a predicament, a predicament that keeps humanity from reality. The passage, Last Child in the Woods (2008), by Richard Louv discusses how children of this centenary are developing a dependence on technology. These children are vulnerable to the brutality of reality because they are not instructed how to survive outside of their environmentally friendly homes and their electronically engineered cars. They grow up knowing what a billboard looks like for various advertisements and to know how to work an iPhone at the age of four. Children are isolated by these new creations and are manipulated into the world of technology. All they see is an artificial world of consumerism. Men, as the stronger sex, were thought to be intelligent, courageous, and determined. Women, on the other hand, were more governed by their emotions, and their virtues were expected to be chastity, modesty, compassion, and piety. Men were thought to be more aggressive; women more passive. Women education was primarily at home by mothers or fathers. The education comprised of the arts of sewing, water color, and polite conversation for the upper class and domestic work for lower classes. Those who did attempt to educate themselves in the male subjects of Greek and Latin were measured by male standards of scholarship when they attempted to express themselves in print.
