The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Essay
If you owe your bank a hundred pounds, you have a problem; but if you owe it a million, it has.(1)
In the year of 1327, Kind Edward III of England defaulted on his Italian debts. This caused the
banks of Bardi and Peruzzi in Florence to collapse. Who would know that over 650 years later,
the world would still have these types of problems? After World War II, the need for an
organization like the IMF was finally realized. After the war, politicians and economists began to
work on blue prints for a postwar world. They envisioned a liberal international economic order,
based on stable world currencies and revived world trade. The International Monetary Fund (IMF)
finally came into existence on December 27, 1945. On this date, twenty nine ... Show more content

International banks have made risky loans all over the world because they knew that if trouble
arose, the fund would step in to resolve the situation as it has done in the past. The IMF has
played a critical role in many of the epochal events in the 1990 s. The IMF lent 18 billion dollars
to Mexico in 1994, after the peso collapsed. It gave Russia over 10 billion dollars in 1999. The
IMF has helped drive inflation from 1,000 percent a year down to a tolerable 10 percent a year,
thanks to Russia listening to what the IMF said and doing as they suggested. It has given
Indonesia 10 billion dollars, and has helped Indonesia demonopolize industries. It gave 4 billion
to Thailand, which was the epicenter of the East Asian Crisis. The IMF helped closed dozens of
reckless banks. True, the IMF did many little things wrong, however, it did the important ones
right. The Philippines is a prime example on how effectively the IMF can work. For years,
Filipinos suffered the weaknesses of economic and business policies. Under the tutelage of the
International Monetary Fund for nearly 30 years, and especially during the past decade, they
faced up to their problems. Many sectors of their society suffered greatly, and some complained
loudly. However, they persisted and, with the help of the IMF and the courage of the Philippine
people, they exited from the IMF program. How did they do this? They assembled one of the best

The Importance Of Mathematics In Education
In this paper, I will be writing about the math curriculum, including geometry, taught in schools
across America in grades first through twelfth. In addition, I will also discuss what students in other
countries are taught in the areas of mathematics. Then, we will look at the level of mathematical
knowledge of students in the United States compares to those other countries. Finally, we will find
out if there is a way we can improve our educational system to better our future generations
understand of mathematics. First, we will briefly discuss the importance of learning mathematics at
an early age. One of the most important reasons it is important for children to learn mathematics is
that is teaches critical thinking skills. Sometimes what students learn in math is not so much
important is that it is teaching students how to think. Some math concepts are very involved and
not regularly used but if a student can understand those they will be prepared when faced with real
world problems. Understanding basic math is also an important of basic life. regardless of
occupation, people will need to use numbers in their finances and other areas. In addition, math is
used across many fields to solve problems. Basic calculus principles are the foundation to
engineering. In the United States, educationstandards are regulated by state governments. From
kindergarten to twelfth grade, the states decide what will be in their curriculum. Starting in 2010, a

Live Your Own Life In Two Kinds By Amy Tan
Live Your Own Life
Two kinds by Amy Tan is a short story that you could pull many themes from. The main and most
obvious theme I pulled from the story is that everyone is responsible to choose their future.
My mother believed you could be anything you wanted to be in America (Tan 49). This quote
shows you the confidence her mother had when it came to doing something you believed in while
you were in the United States. This idea is important because her mom thought she could make her
daughter into anything because they lived in the United States and many other people have been
successful in the United States too. Two or three months went by without any mention of my being
a prodigy. And then one day my mother was watching the Ed Sullivan

Sea World Gold Coast Australia
Sea World Gold Coast Australia is a marine animal theme park. The park includes rides, shows and
marine attractions. Sea World founded Sea World Research Rescue Foundation Inc. (SWRRFI)
which committed to promote a number of marine research projects and rescue marine organisms
activities.
Sea World s goals are to strengthen knowledge for youth about the ocean habitat and ecology of the
marine lives, encourage the public about the marine biodiversity conservation and promote youth
education and public awareness. Positioning Sea World as teach through lively activities is also a
priority.
Past media coverage of Sea World has been largely marine mammal topics based, with little
substantial discussion around animal conservation or Sea World information. Although the media
port of Sea World provides several marine animal contents, it leads to the media relations problem:
Sea World s media releases tend to using marketing strategies that have resulted in an increasing
lack of credibility in marine mammal conservation. This does not align with Sea World goals of
youth education and strengthened public awareness.
An opportunity therefore exists for Sea World to improve awareness of marine conservation,
ecological populations and research to marine animals in the short term via media coverage in
connection with SWRRF in Queensland.
1.2 Target publics
There are main audiences and publics will be targeted in order to push the opportunity as follows:

Number Of Basketball Players In Research
Division of Basketball Players
Children develop bad habits at a young age and continue these bad habits until they are corrected.
Sometimes these things aren t corrected until its almost too late. Habits can be picked up from
parents, grandparents, coaches, and peers. I know that the longer I am around someone the more I
act like that person. In any sport you will have many coaches and you will learn something you
didn t know with every coach you have. But some things aren t developed from others, some players
are born with these characters and help them become the type of player they are.
1.The Dramatic Player: The dramatic player overreacts about everything to draw attention to their
self so they can be the center of attention. For example, on my basketball team Susie is constantly
getting hurt. One day at practice she gently fell to the ground and instantly started acting like
she had fallen from a 10 story building. As a teammate of Susie I have learned that it is easier to
give her the attention as soon as she starts acting out. Another type of player is one that makes
everything said to them a big deal. Some players on the team cannot take criticism, or being told
what to do. Susie is this type of player also, and will turn a simple please look for me on the block
to throw me the darn ball next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Excuse maker: The excuse maker constantly has a rhyme or reason to why they did not do
something or to why they did do something. For example, Lilly on my basketball team will blame
her man scoring on someone else when clearly they scored because she wasn t playing any
defense. The most common excuse used in basketball is that wasn t my man when in reality nine
times out of ten it is the excuse makers man. These types of players would rather the team suffer
than put forth the effort to do what is asked of them. Like people say one bad apple will ruin the
whole bunch , I wouldn t say the excuse maker ruins the whole team but they do make it hard to

Using bones, teeth and joints for reconstructing activity...
During an individual s lifetime the activities they involve themselves in impact on their many
bodily tissues. Markers for these activities are left in the bones, joints and dentition which is useful
for anthropologists as only skeletal material is left in the case of most ancient populations.
Subsequently much research has been undertaken in this area with varying levels of validity. In this
essay I seek to explain what information can be reliably gathered from skeletal material, it will
focus on bonedensity and muscle attachments associated with heavy workloads, jointwear caused
by repeated processes such as grinding grain, osteoarthritis and tooth wear associated with tool use.
To aid this discussion I will detail the activity changes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Food gathering, butchering and carrying materials for fires and temporary shelters are all fairly
short but high intensity physical exercise. Subsequently in hunter gatherer populations there is a
trend in the archaeological record for higher bone density and greater cortical bone thickness in
cross section (Maggiano et al, 2008). The opposite is true of agricultural societies of the past.
Activities involved with agriculture are often slow, repetitive low load level tasks such as
weeding, sowing seeds and the picking and harvesting of crops (Bridges, 1989). These activities
are mainly upper body activities and are more commonly associated with joint wear and
osteoarthritis, which I will mention later. Muscle attachments are the sites on the bone where
ligaments are anchored, these may become exaggerated in individuals with larger than average
musculature. Based on the crude argument that hunter gatherers used leg muscles in day to day
activities and agricultural peoples used their upper body in activity more it stands to reason that the
respective muscle attachments would be enlarged. Molnar for example attempts to trace general as
well as three specific prehistoric activities: archery, harpooning, and kayaking that are likely to
have been performed in past populations from the Baltic sea area using assessment of

Dear Head Start Board Member, I as do I am sure that parents may be looking forward to their
kids returning to school, but they re probably not so excited about the daily challenges around
transportation. Not only do most kids need to be dropped off they need to be picked up from
school. For working parents who have their own schedules to maintain, all this can be hugely
stressful, and I know lots of families can relate to this. I remember back to when my son first start
here at this center, and they still had bus transportation available, it was so much more convenient
and less stressful getting him to from school every day. Now that I have two children who are

These families are the ones who are most in need of these services but they are also the ones
struggling to make sure their children get to class daily. I see many parents who have to walk
their children to school even when it s cold, wet, and even snowing outside because this is their
only available option. While this may appear normal I see it as a risk of those children getting sick
because they were being exposed to these conditions. As scientist now warn, Rhinovirus is the most
frequent cause of the common cold, as well as one of the most important causes of asthma
exacerbations. Most rhinovirus strains replicate better at the cooler temperatures found in the nasal

Relationship Between Science And Religion
The relationship between science and religion is an arguably rigid one, the two topics presently
posing contrasting ideas in modern society. However, this relationship has been varied over the
course of time, in particular the nineteenth century. We can put forth the argument that it was not
necessarily as simple as the two being mutually exclusive concepts that continuously opposed each
other; rather the two held a complicated relationship. These apparent conflicts between scienceand
religioncan often be resultant of more complex debates, for example concerning political power. It
can also be seen that there was a continually shifting boundary between the two subjects, making it
merely reductionist to say the two were in conflict. Science and religion were in conflict to the
extent that both these concepts were adapting to the contemporary world, sometimes causing them
to clash.
During the nineteenth century, religion still remained a prevalent influence in Britain, from which
we can argue that there was no widespread conflict caused by the sciences. Britain was a
predominantly protestant country, with an estimation of attendance being made by Dr Chalmers,
from which he concluded that five eighths, or sixty two and a half per cent., of the people of a
town might attend religious services. The period also saw the revival of the evangelical
movement, from which people believed that religion should inform every aspect of daily life, and
we must spend our lives

Non State Actors ( Nsa ) Essay
Non state Actors
The term non State actors are a superordinate concept that encompasses all those actors in
international relations that are not states. It comprises individuals as well as entities, the latter
spanning a large range of organizations and institutions on the global, regional, sub regional as well
as the local levels.
Non state actors (NSA) are entities that participate in international relations, these entities cannot be
identified by common sociological features as they include international organizations,
corporations, non governmental organizations ( NGOs ), trade associations, and transnational
corporations, terrorist groups and transnational criminal organizations. They are organizations with
sufficient power to influence and cause a change even though they do not belong to any established
institution of a state. Non state actors such as national or international non governmental
organisations (NGOs) are adding their voices to international development policy debates by
organising, campaigning and lobbying across national boundaries in order to have a greater
influence on international development policy making and faced with growing economic and
political interdependencies of markets and states, governments have to cope with the increasingly
complex postmodern environment, including the activities of NGOs. An example of the influence
of non State actors on diplomacy is the Westphalian Peace Treaty, where they had a role prior to

conditions might be the main reasons for their invasions (Owen 1999 10). There were two

Danelaw . At the beginning of the Vikings expansion, piracy and trade were the dominant
elements, however, after a period of time, they began to settle down in their colonies, such as

The Fight Against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract...
Over the years, the nursing practice has developed mechanisms towards improving service delivery
through research and management training. The fight against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract
Infections (CAUTIs) is one area that continuously attracts a lot of concern in nursing. Indwelling
urinary catheters (IUC) have been the best option in addressing CAUTI (Wilde et al., 2013). But
this has resulted in more health risks and compromised service delivery among nurses, calling for
new ways to either upgrade the existing mechanisms or invent new methods over the same. As a
result, the American Nurses Association, in conjunction with St. Francis Hospital clinical nurse
specialists is working on a pilot program that is in the last stages of its review. The program
developed an evidence based tool to be used in catheterization. Its main focus is to determine how
health facilities can work together to improve the quality of service delivery through good
management, as well as evaluation of its implication on performance, training, and future nursing
practice (St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 2016). As a result, this paper examines the
milestone achieved by St Francis Hospital towards quality improvement in catheterassociated
urinary tract contagions.
Literature Review The American Nurses Association and Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention indicate that CAUTI is the high prevalence healthcare associated infection variety;
hence it accounts for at least 30% of acute

Analysis Of `` On Political Labels `` By Christopher...
On Political Labels by Christopher Borick and Four Words That Will Decide the Election by
David Green both deal with how language is used in politics. Borick s essay is a more historical
and informative of the origins of political language and key words, while Green s essay is a
game plan for the Democrats to defeat the Republicans by using their own rhetoric against them.
David Green makes great points in his essay, but because of his left wing bias and his overall
view of Republicans being almost idiots discredit his essay. This is because of the multiple schools
of thought that aren t taken into account for in his essay. Borick s historical analysis of political
terms gives the reader a greater understanding on the rebuttals the Democrats and Republicans can
use, but his overall naГЇve tone on politics today makes his essay almost utopian or unrealistic.
Since both essays were written before the 2012 election, they have some outdated views because of
our current changing political climate. The current political climate has made the Democratic Party
is leaning more European Socialist, while the Republican Partyis being dominated by any
reactionary movement that is prides itself on nationalism and anti immigration rhetoric. On

The Censorship Of Singapore ( Mda )
The practise of censorship the restriction of ideas, action or image through the control of the media
or any other medium of expression. Censorship should be practised sensibly so that it will not
restrict the development and expression of new ideas while ensuring that social and political
harmony is assured. Censorshipplays a vital role in maintaining the morals of its society and
creating an economically dynamic, socially cohesive and culturally vibrant nation. (N.A, N.D)
The press exert a significant influence on the public and is partly responsible for the views and
values that many hold. Hence, it should be responsible with what it put forth to the public.
Singapore has gradually moved from film censorship to film classification and now to the focus
on media literacy. Media Authority of Singapore (MDA) plays a significant role in regulating and
conducting matters pertaining to the media. It is guided by legislation/acts such as Media
Development Authority of Singapore Act, code of practice and guideline to comply and enforce
the entities. In this term paper, we will discuss how the media handle censorship and classification
related matters as well as reviewing the Films Appeal Committee under the films act policy. In this
regard, recommendations will also be given on how to improve the clause.

Similarities Between Finny And Mr Keating
Mr. Keating and Finny both embody individuality throughout the film and novel. Throughout the
film, Mr. Keating expresses his unique personality in several ways. Mr. Keating has an unusual
teaching style, unlike the strict and uniform style of the other teachers at Welton. It is much more
relaxed, and the students tend to enjoy class more. His style, much like his personality, are very
unique and creative. One way he expresses his unique teaching style was by having his students rip
out the introduction to their poetry textbook. He told them to rip out the pages because he wanted
his students to think for themselves. The textbook told them what to think about poetry, which was
not what Mr. Keating wanted. By telling them to rip out the pages, he expressed his individuality
through his unique teaching style. Another way Mr. Keating embodied individuality was by
having his students stand on his desk. He has the students stand on his desk as a reminder to look
at the world in a different way. By being unique and creative in his class and his lifestyle, Mr.

would receive from other people. Finny also organizes the Super Suicide Society of the Summer

discussing jumping out of the tree, when Finny says We ll form a suicide society, and the

Unfortunately, freshwater snails like many other river species across North America are

especially those species that inhabit streams and rivers. Approximately 60 species of freshwater
snails are presumed extinct, 20 are on the federal endangered or threatened species list, and another
290 species are of conservation concern nationwide. The decline of freshwater snails began in the
early twentieth century. Dam construction and other channel modifications, siltation, and industrial

result, the species richness and the abundance of freshwater snails have declined dramatically. This
decline has been especially pronounced in the Southeastern United States where these animals are

The Theory Of Ethical Leadership
Explanation of Ethical Leadership
The research of Thomas W. H. Ng and Daniel C. Feldman provides quantitative data, which
validates the effectiveness of Ethical Leadership through the meta analysis of 101 ethical leadership
related studies conducted over the last 15 years. Somewhat in nascent form, Ethical Leadership (Ng
Feldman, 2015) is viewed as conduct predicated on exhibiting positive role mode actions while
promoting moral member conduct through collaboration, communication, and reinforcing behavior
(Ng Feldman, 2015). Leaders who employ EL are considered to weigh their ethical values
significantly during their transactions with assigned team members. Furthermore, EL also
suggests there is a correlation between how well a leader assess their own values and beliefs prior
to exercising referent and reward power behavior.
Connection to Social Learning Theory
The genesis of EL precepts may have a cultural basis in either Eastern or Western philosophy. In
terms of theoretical impact, it may be impossible to determine which hemisphere has a majority
stake exactly. This may be due to the cultural differences in identification of self within the context
of popular religions such as Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Judeo Christian beliefs (Ng
Feldman, 2015). Regardless, the majority of those leaders who demonstrated EL generally
exhibited a psychological motivation to be just. This need may have a basis in social learning
theory and even social exchange

Tasha Cobbs Research Paper
There is power in the name of Jesus, to break every chain, break every chain, break every chain.
Many people may know this song because of Tasha Cobbs. She is a gospel artist who uses her
gift of singing to bless and minister to others. I admire Tasha Cobbs because she glorifies Jesus
Christ in all that she does, makes uplifting music, and motivates me to believe that I do not have to

Tasha Cobbs knows who God is to her and makes sure I know also. She glorifies Jesus Christ every

Cobbs decrees and declares the word of God over her life. She has faith in God and believes that
His word is true, which is why she does not settle for less. For example, she father passed away
in the same week of the 2014 Celebration of Gosepel. Many people believed that she would
cancel her performance on the because of her father s death. Instead she went on the stage and
ministered. Cobbs won three Stellar Awards and a Grammy and in receiving those awards, she
testified about the joy of the Lord that she has is her strength during the passing of her father.
Cobbs made it known that she may weep every now and then, but she is content with her father s
passing because she is remind of the scripture that says To be absent in the body is to present
with the Lord. She knew her father was in pain, so she has hope and believes that her father is in
heaven where there is no weeping, pain, or sorrow. Her testimony was an encouragement for me
because if God can give her joy during the time where she should be grieving than I know that he
will do the same for me. I truly admire Tasha Cobbs she promotes the light of Jesus Christ and
testifies about God s goodness, mercy, and grace that he bestows on us daily. It makes me more

Loneliness can be defined in so many ways. The plain, colorless, and parched meaning that sits

women s lives. Womanhood is not the only identifying feature of women as our different
socioeconomic environments affect our lives in usually greater ways. In their articles on

incredulity of a common womanhood overcoming the powerful socioeconomic differences between
women, as well as the harmful effects of overlooking these variances within popular discourse.

Process where the ratio of labour to other inputs is relatively large. Where alternative techniques
of production are possible , labour intensity mode can be varied in response to changes in the

the way production is carried out. Labour refers to the physical efforts or people are required to

This ratio depends on what technique of production are easible.
Effective demand for labour
Effective demand for labour can be described as the price at which the consumer of labour are
willing and able to purchase labour. To put things in perspective, holding all other constant. If the
labour is low, the demand for labour is high, the demand for labour would be low.
Discuss the complementary and substitutability of labour and capital
Complementary: labour on its own can be viewed as human prowess to work and produce, and
capital can be viewed as man made means of production. Hence labour on capital go hand in hand
on issues like education, vocational duties like menial jobs etc. In such a situation when labor
increases capital increases and when labor reduces capital also reduces hence labor is directly
proportional to capital.
Substitute: labour and capital are indifferent in exchange e.g They are substitute to each other.
Substitutes on the other hand then implies a situation where factors operate independently of
other factors , therefore , for labor and capital to be substitutes it explains a situation where labor
and capital are employed to operate independently of each other but instead serve as substitutes of
each other. The substitutability of labor and capital implies an increase in labor, capital for labor
decreases, capital itself decreases, the

Professor Mark Bocija, History 1111 Rezvan Ngalla November 16, 2015 The Decameron Black
Death. The Decameron was a collection of bawdy and serious tales written by Boccaccio.
Boccaccio was most likely born in Florence or Certaldo and was the illegitimate son of a wealthy
Florentine merchant, Bocacino di Chellino. As a youth he was trained to follow in his father s
business but he eventually chose instead to study canon law and subsequently pursued the arts. It
is a combination of Greek words for ten and day. According to Frankforter, the Decameron is a
fictive record of a hundred stories that ten Florentine men and women told to entertain themselves
while they hid from the plague in the comfort of a luxurious house (Frankforter, pg. 348). The one
hundred allegorical stories are shared through the narrative voices of these young people as they
spend their nights regaling the company with tales from the erotic, sensual, and bawdy to the
intellectual, philosophical or tragic. The narrative s fundamental theme is of struggle between life
and death in the face of the Black Plague and the various ways life continues in spite of traditional
moral attitudes and beliefs. While primarily a work of fiction, the Introduction to The Decameron
has emerged as an important historical record of the physical, psychological, and social effects of
the aggressive spread of the previously unknown Yersina pestis bacteria. It provides a significant
philosophical insight into the medieval psyche

Abuse and Heredity
Abuse and Heredity Research question: Is child abuse hereditary?
There are many types of abuse such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, domestic abuse just to name a
few but of all the types of abuse there is one type of abuse that is probably one of the easiest to pass
down and that is child abuse. Child abuse is easy to pass down because we look to what we know
when were not certain what to do. The term for passing down child abuse is known as
intergenerational abuse. There are four methods of child abuse and they are physical, sexual, neglect
, and emotional abuse (Baltes, Smelser, Pg 1672). In the study of a sixteen year old mother who
had been abused her whole life, it was found that the mother resorted to spanking her five month old

Capaldi and Pears studies show that abuse is found in low socioeconomical environments and
also with relatively young parents (2001, pg 1442). Bensley says one process of
intergenerational abuse is the normative beliefs regarding appropriate parenting behaviors,
which she describes as believing that certain abusive behavior are normal ( Bensley, Ruggles,
Simmons, Harris, Williams, Putvin, Allen, 2003, pg 1323). Which supports the idea that an
abusive parent justifies abuse as a legitimate punishment ( Bensley, Ruggles, Simmons, Harris,
Williams, Putvin, Allen, 2003, pg 1331). Graur identifies 3 different cause of child abuse and
neglect, the first cause is called the economic theory which says economic depression or
socioemotional difficulties cause rejection behaviors on the part of the parent (1996, p.55 56).
The second cause is called the ecological theory which says any disorder affecting society will
also affect the family (1996, p. 56). The third and final cause of neglect found by Graur is called
the personality theory which states that traits such as low self esteem, sadness, and previous
experiences affect the way a parent acts towards a child (1996, p.56). In the article titled Child
abuse there are 4 main cause of child abuse identified, the first has to do with life history and
personality meaning their own experiences as a

Part A: Desired Occupation
Florida Gulf Coast University: Vice President for Advancement Executive Director of Foundation
Between my freshman and sophomore year of college I completed a 450 hour internship at All
Children s Hospital. This internship although it was mainly administrative showed me a side of
hospitals that most people don t see. I was able to see the behind the scenes of fundraising and
public relations. I had first hand exposure to the world of fundraising for an organization that relies
on fundraising. Two years later completed my bachelors of science in general business management.
I am currently pursuing my masters in business administration and focusing in marketing. I feel
that through marketing I can combine both public relations and fundraising. Ever since I was
little I wanted to find a career that let me do what I love and find a way to help people. While
waiting to hear about my acceptance into the MBA program at FGCU I applied to a graduate
assistant position within FGCU s University Advancement department. As a graduate student this
was the dream position I had been looking for. It was the opportunity I had been looking for that
would allow me to use the skills I had gained by volunteering at All Children s Hospital. The old
saying, how do you get a job without experience, how do you get experience without a job does
have an answer; it s volunteering.

Easter Island Research Paper
Easter Island is a remote volcanic island in Polynesia that is well known for its giant moai
statues jotted all along it. Many scientists come to Easter Island to study how and why the
statues were made. These statues have an average weight of about 20 tons and an average height
of 20 feet. Historians are not sure how the native people of Easter Island, also formally known as
Rapa Nui, were able to drag and place these large statues in their intended locations, but the most
commonly accepted theory is that the people used long pieces of ropes to drag these statues to
their places. The Moaistatues were carved from the solid volcanic ash of the volcano Rano Raraku.
They were then taken to quarries on top of the volcanoes, where the people used ropes to hold the
statues at a 45В° angle so they could be carved even more in more detail.... Show more content on

Then, when the statues were at their resting place, they were lifted up onto a platform called an
ahu. The ahus were also used as the burial place for the person who the statue was built for. Once
placed atop the platform, eye cavities were carved into the head and they added eyes made of
coral and red scoria stone. This was the process by which all of the island s 887 statues were
made. It was an advanced method for people to use in 900 A.D. The Moai statues show the
advancing culture of the Rapa Nui people. The first ones that were made were very short and
stout, but the statues made more recently were very large and slender. The statues tell a lot about
the native people s culture, since they show the religion of the people and their way of

Compare And Contrast How Stories Came To Earth And Master Cat
How Stories Came to Earth and Master Cat We have all grown up to our parents reading us
fairytales and folktales before sending us to bed for the night. These short tales have shaped our
imagination in our young years, and have been passed on from generation to generation. Usually,
comprised of a trickster, or the main character, and a plan to accomplish a goal. Their importance is
very significant, but what is the difference between the two types of tales? Their similarities and
differences are exemplified through the comparison and contrast of the folktale How Stories Came

One difference is the tale How Stories Came to Earth is specifically a folktale, while the tale
Master Cat is specifically a fairytale. Fairy Tales are stories that involve magical and imaginary
creatures, while folktales are stories that revolve more around human life experiences. Another
difference is that the main characters have unsimilar character traits and personalities. In How
Stories Came to Earth, the main character, Anansi, is very cunning and clever, but also has the
right mindset behind his goals, unlike the main character in Master Cat. Anansi does what he
does, to benefit others rather than himself and does not do things in a selfish manner. The main
character, the cat, in Master Cat, is also very cunning and clever, but does not have a good
mindset with his goals. His goal is to simply save his own life, exaggerating his selfish character
trait, which differs greatly from Anansi, who is generous. Another difference between the tales is
that the main character s have different purposes throughout the plots of the tales. In How Stories
Came to Earth, Anansi s goal was to retrieve stories from the sky god and bring them back to land
to share with everyone in society.

Highway Project Review
Auckland, a highly populated city in New Zealand experiences traffic problems frequently. This
problems needs to be resolved through development of a road system that would tackle challenges
imposed by the population. Auckland Transport manages road projects in the city. One of the
projects in Auckland city that is underway by Auckland Transport (AT) is the upgrade of Dominion
Road project. AT inherited this project from the Auckland city council, which had earlier
undertaken public consultation for a proposed upgrade to Dominion Road. Key concerns from the
earlier consultation undertaken by the Auckland City Council included loss of on street parking,
and concerns that use of bus lanes by other vehicles would create four lane highway. AT in its
design includes the concerns raised and has engaged both the public, including the potentially
affected residents, and other key stakeholders from the government and the private sector. AT has
opened a feedback process in which views about the improvement of Dominion road are collected
to be examined and possibly to be approved and included in the final design.

Modern Society Is Unethical Using The Emulation Theory
Aristotle argues that the pattern of status competition in American society is unethical using the
emulation theory. According to Aristotle, humans are the most imitative of all creatures and status
competition is a cycle of mutual emulation. Emulation is a pain which is caused by the presence of
good things that are highly valued. How emulation works is that there is the person who is doing
the emulation, the individual who is being emulated, and then relationship between the two. The
second individual provides a model for the first individual, who then decides they are similar to the
model. Humans do not emulate individuals who have something that is deemed undesirable, the
idea is let them have it, I don t want it. Because the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Joneses are actually salesmen pretending to be a normal family while those around them
crave the items they are selling and eventually putting themselves in a serious economic
/emotional crisis. This is an example of what Aristotle means when he says emulation brings
pain, because one of the characters, Frank, ends up committing suicide because he gave into
status competition. He did not care about his wife s business, or the simple fact that he had bills
and a mortgage to pay. Instead he kept buying things, much like the Baby Boomers, and worked
his way into a debt that he could not get out of because he cared too much about his reputation
and how popular he wanted to seem to his friends. The emulators, in the movie, are the
individuals who set out to buy the items the family was selling. Aristotle also stated that some
people are only concerned with keeping up with their neighbors, copying their every move. It
becomes a life obsession, and that was the main idea of the movie. Aristotle believes in order to
follow the mean and be rational, one must avoid excess or deficiency by asking themselves if they
re emulating at the right times and places? Do you actually need to consume? Are you consuming
the right amount of goods? How will my emulating affect myself or those around me? Aristotle
reaches several conclusions on virtue and describes it as a state of character, and what it means for
a human to be virtuous. For example, the excellence of the eye

The Ruger Air Magnum Combo Air Rifle
RUGER AIR MAGNUM COMBO AIR RIFLE REVIEW
The Ruger Air Magnum Combo is a break barrel, spring piston air rifle which gives hard hitting
power. It can attain an impressive velocity of 1400 fps, above average for its class. Some nice
features of the rifle are the adjustable two stage trigger and the automatic safety.
Included in the package is the 4x32 scope and mount. You can also use the fully adjustable fiber
optic rear sight and fiber optic front sight to focus on your target. This air rifle has good durability
and can be used on any weather condition, thanks to its Ambi Monte Carlo stock. A shooter can use
the Ruger Air Magnum, whether right handed or left handed.

People who bought the rifle said that it is powerful and good to use for hunting small game. The
adjustable trigger and automatic safety are some of the features that they liked. The air rifle has
very good knockdown capability especially if you use heavy pellets.
There are some negative comments about the product. Since the Ruger Air Magnum is a spring
piston air rifle, it does recoil. This can affect the accuracy when shooting. It also causes some
discomfort; fortunately, it has a rubber recoil pad to minimize that. A number of people expressed
their dissatisfaction with the telescopic sight that comes with the rifle. The 4x32 scope did not
function very well and sighting in can be difficult.
Another issue is the loud sound produced when shooting. This is due to the high velocity (up to
1400 fps). This can be a concern if you live in a highly populated neighbourhood. In some
instances, it may also be hard to cock the rifle and you need to put some effort into it.
Overall, the Ruger Air Magnum Combo air rifle is a good product that delivers a lot of power and
many customers are satisfied with their

Case Analysis Of Cloud Networking
Today, large corporations have employees in several locations around the world. It is imperative
each employee can access and update important information to provide the most up to date data to
the rest of the organization. Cloud hosting provides a path to ensure open communication channels
for an organization to adequately operate on the global scale. Crowd hosting allows the use of more
than one server to reduce downtimes in the case of a mechanical malfunction. An organization can
sign a services agreement with a cloud hosting vendor to secure access to the technology. As with

HostGator provides an alternative hosting opportunity for prospective organizations.
Founded in 2002, HostGator has been in the hosting industry for a long time. The company has
consistently grown since its humble beginnings, and now has offices in several countries around
the world in order to continually expand their customer base. Aimed primarily at the semi
technical user, Host Gator s flexibility is their strong suit (Frankel, 2017, para 3). This distinction
allows more tech savvy businesses to pick and choose desired features to ensure the final product
is pleasing. HostGator has near limitless options and control, however, they require a little more
knowledge than beginner focused web hosts (Frankel, 2017, para 4). HostGator has developed an
outstanding reputation in the hosting community for its performance. The company offers reliable
services at competitive prices by affording organizations the flexibility to choose the services
needed instead of simply offering rigid packages. HostGator boasts an extremely advanced
datacenter to ensure redundancy in their server network to prevent downtime. They have
incorporated a level of redundancy that prevents single point of failure in order to deliver services
as advertised. While HostGator has a great reputation of performance, it must perform well in key
performance indicators (KPI) identified by prospective clients to turn them into customers.

Tornado Alley
Have you ever wondered what that spinning cloud in the sky is? Or why all of a sudden it is
humid out, but the wind is cold? There are approximately 1,000 tornadoes that occur each year in
the US, but there are also many that go undetected and unreported. In El Reno, Oklahoma, in 2013,
a tornado hit and covered 175 miles per hour. This was the fastest, and largest stormever recorded.
Oklahoma has about fifty two tornadoes occur, on average a year.
The definition of a tornado is a small, very intense cyclonic storm with exceedingly high winds,
most often produced along cold fronts in conjunction with severe thunderstorms. A cold front is a
front along which a cold air mass thrusts beneath a warmer air mass. A warm front is a front along

Some tornadoes may strike quickly, and with little to no warning. In the southern states the peak of
tornado season is March through May. In the northern states it is late spring to early summer. They
are most likely to occur between 3 pm and 9 pm but can happen at anytime.
A tornado in Oklahoma picked up a small herd of cattle and carried them across the countryside,
then sat them down and the cattle were unharmed. Dust Devils are a type of tornado that passes
through a desert area. There can be times when multiple tornados form at a time and then they
travel in swarms just like fish. The most powerful tornadoes are from the United States. Every
tornado has its own color, sound and shape that is just for itself, just like fingerprints, no tornado is
exactly the same.
In conclusions, tornados are nothing to mess around with. Treat it just as every other intense
situation. There are many different ways to tell the difference in a tornado. Extreme weather is
nothing to joke around, about or just treat it like a little shower of rain. It s not, take shelter and be

The Cambridge Dictionary of Sociology defines inequality as the unequal distribution of

Crooks American Dream
1.The impossibility of the American Dream Most of the characters in Of Mice and Men admit,

she confesses her desire to be a movie star. Also, Crooks allows himself the pleasant fantasy of
hoeing a patch of garden on Lennie s farm one day, and Candy latches on desperately to George s
vision of owning a couple of acres. Before the action of the story begins, circumstances have
robbed most of the characters of these wishes. Curley s wife, for instance, she has resigned herself
to an unfulfilling marriage. What makes all of these dreams typically American is that the dreamers

Loneliness is present throughout this novel. For example, this isolation is shown when the
ranch hands go into town on Saturday night to ease their loneliness with alcohol and women.
Similarly, Lennie goes into Crook s room to find someone to talk, and later Curley s wife comes
for the same reason. Crooks says, A guy goes nuts if he ain t got nobody. Don t make no
difference who the guy is, long s he s with you . (72) Even Slim mentions, I seen the guys that go
around on the ranches alone. That ain t no good. They don t have no fun. After a long time they
get mean. (41) George s taking care of Lennie and the dream of the farm are attempts to break
the pattern of loneliness which is part of the human condition. Lennie s desire to pet soft things
comes from his need to feel safe and secure, to touch something that gives him that feeling of not
being alone in the world. For Lennie, the dream of the farm parallels that security. However,
George and Lennie are not the only characters who struggle against loneliness, the theme of
loneliness is most notably present in Candy, Crooks, and Curley s wife. They all fight against
their isolation in whatever way they can. For example, until its death, Candy s dog stopped Candy
from being alone in the world. After its death, Candy struggles against loneliness by sharing in
George and Lennie s dream. Curley s wife is also lonely

Catch 22 and the Theme of Death
There are many ways for a man to die, but there is no way to bring him back after he has entered
the world of dead. Catch 22 is a novel satirizing war, and because of this, it inevitably has a strong
underlying theme of death. But unlike many war novels, Catch 22 doesn t use violent depictions of
fighting or bloody death scenes to denounce the evils of war; it utilizes humor and irony to make an
arguably more effective point. And even more importantly, Catch 22 is ultimately a novel about
hope, not death. Although the inevitability of death is still a prominent motif, it eventually leads
the main character, Yossarian, to realize that the desire to live is important and also that he ... Show

Yossarian s most startling glimpse into the terrors of war and death comes when he spends a
night alone on the streets of Rome. He sees homeless children; he witnesses men beating
children and dogs, a rape, and a convulsing soldier; he walks over a street littered with broken
human teeth. This is one of the rare sections of the novel that does not use humor to point out the
cruelty and inhumanity of the world. The scene comes to a climax when Yossarian returns to
his apartment and discovers that Aarfy has raped an innocent maid and then thrown her out his
window, leaving her dead on the sidewalk below. Then, ironically, Yossarian is arrested for
being in Rome without a pass and Aarfy is given an apology for the disturbance, his hideous
crime going unpunished. This chapter is when Yossarian begins to really recognize the true face
of the military and the meaning of Catch 22; when he goes to the brothel and the old woman tells
him that the girls have all been kicked out of their home by soldiers, she explains to him that
Catch 22 says they have a right to do anything we can t stop them from doing (417;Ch.39). Catch
22 is the justification for every wrong the military commits, and it overrides every other moral law.
The horrors that the military creates will never stop, and Yossarian begins to realize that he cannot

Art was one of my favorite classes, but I wasn t a fan of algebra class. There are many
differences and similarities between art class and algebra class. I love taking a bit of nothing
and turning it into a work of art that I can be proud of. One of the main reasons I disliked algebra
class was how much homework we had. One of the biggest differences between these two
classes was the amount of creative freedom used in art class. Algebra class has more lectures
while art class has more hands on creative time. There is more note taking and homework
involved in algebra. In art class, you could draw but that was pretty much frowned upon during
algebra class. In art class there is more opportunity to walk around and talk to your friends. If you

My Time As Volunteer At Somerset Dade Academy
During my time as volunteer at Somerset Dade Academy, I was able to work closely with the
elementary and middle school teacher. During each visit, I was able to follow Ms. Lee s daily
routine. In the morning, we had 30 minutes to plan and get her cart ready with supplies she needed
for the day. Also, we would both create various model artworks to inspire her students to create
something more original and imaginative. She wheeled her cart through certain elementary classes
depending on her schedule. Depending on the grade level she was assign to that day, we were able
to teach her students the fundamental concepts of arts and major art movements, all in 30 minutes.
Every three weeks, she would focus on a concept, artist, or art movement. Additionally, she would
assign vocabulary words, which her students would copy and also had access to them online on
Quizlet. At the end, she would administer a summative test on everything they learned for the past
three weeks. On the other hand, Ms. Lee s middle schoolclasses were different, more one on one,
and it was a one hour period. Her students were able to recreate impressionist and expressionist
artworks, such as Monet s Water Lilies, Van Gogh Starry Night and The Bedroom on wall sized
canvases. Despite the diversity of art concepts taught, it can become quite difficult for one teacher
to teach 23 elementary classes and 11 middle schoolclasses. As part of the Miami Dade College
community, we can help and stress the

Intellectual Interest Research Paper
Cornell University Essay
As a student, I like to think of my intellectual interests in this field as being very high. I believe
that for me there is more to learning than acquiring good grades. Learning for me is defined by
skill acquisition and being able to implement the skills that are gained in a practical setup. My
main purpose or interest is to be able to gain skills that would help revolutionize the manner in
which individuals communicate and express themselves since I believe that this is a key quality to
the improvement of their lives. Growing up, I was a rather shy person with a lot of trouble
expressing myself an even relating and interacting with others. This experience helped me
acknowledge the important role that communication

Dynasty Of Ra Essay
Meta: You will have seen Ancient Egyptian themed slot games in the past, but you will have never
seen anything quite like Book of Ra before. Lush, lavish, and loaded with prizes, will you uncover
this game s gold laden goodies?
Dynasty of Ra Review
Ancient Egypt is perhaps one of the most defining time periods in history. A lot of human history
is tied to those days and as such it s always treated with respect. It s little wonder that there are a
lot of online slot machines that use the time period as a theme. Not all of them have succeeded of
course, but Dynasty of Ra, one of the latest games from Novomatic, certainly seems to have enough
within its digital walls to wow audiences. The game gives players intense online slots action, while

If you re interested in the Ancient Egyptian world, especially the pyramids, then you need to give
the game a go. The backdrop of the game is a pyramid, which really does finish up the wonderfully
handled theme. Novomatic really went above and beyond when they put Dynasty of Ra together,
as it s packed full of intense slot machine action that any online slots fan is bound to love. All
things considered, this is probably the best Ancient Egyptian themed online slots title around right
now, so make sure you look to check it out sooner rather than

Brown s Estate Case
In 2008, the South Carolina attorney general entered a settlement with Brown s family. He
redirected a quarter of Brown s assets to his children and grandchildren and a quarter to his ex
wife, who had been disinherited from his will. In 2013, the South Carolina Supreme Court threw
out this settlement, citing the fact that the attorney general had distorted Brown s intent when he
became involved in the administration of Brown s estate. It is certainly unheard of for an
attorney general to redirect assets that a testator had left to someone else. Usually, the redirection
of funds occurs when, for example, a minor child is disinherited from a will and the courts are
attempt to avoid the need for the child to become dependent upon the state. Others who have come
forward to claim their share of Brown s estate include individuals who claim to be his children,
three of which have been proven to be so through DNA testing,... Show more content on

This is due to the fact that distribution may be withheld pending resolution of a lawsuit against
the estate, or where there is a contest over beneficiaries rights under the will. For Brown s estate,
it does not appear that anyone will be receiving what was left to them any time soon, especially
when considering the fact that the litigation over how his estate should be distributed continues
to this day. Jerry Garcia, who was the guitarist in the band the Grateful Dead, died unexpectedly
in 1995 from a heart attack while he was living in a residential drug treatment center. Similarly to
the estates of J. Howard Marshall, Michael Jackson, and James Brown, a court battle began
shortly after his death over his $9.9 million estate. Everyone from his ex wife, to his wife at the
time of his death, to his bandmates, and finally to his daughter began legal battles over what they

Nafta And The American Free Trade Agreement
On January 1st, 1994, Canada, the United States of America, and Mexico had signed a free trade
agreement, under the name the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This Free Trade
Agreement was created to achieve its goal of eliminating barriers to trade and investment between
Canada, Mexico and the United Statesof America. However, the question that politicians and
economists of our nation are facing is whether Canada should remain in NAFTA with its partners,
United States and Mexico. Despite a multitude of benefits that NAFTA is said to have by our
political elites, 20 years later, it is evident the agreement has been counterproductive; which is
evident by the slow move by Canadian manufacturers to Mexico, significant losses in... Show more

By 1997, three years after the ratification of NAFTA, 47% of Canadian manufacturing plants that
existed in 1988, which accounted for 28% of the jobs in the economy, had closed. To add on,
350,000 manufacturing jobs from 2002 2008, were lost due to industrial plants moving to Mexico.
This drastic drop in factory/plant numbers can be attributed to the fact that companies put their
bottom line first moving facilities to Mexico because Mexican minimum wage is only $5.10
compared to a minimum wage of $11.00 in Ontario. As a further incentive to relocate south,
because of NAFTA, corporations don t have to pay tariffs on products shipped back to domestic
markets. Therefore, it is evident that NAFTA has resulted in many industrial firms/plants moving to
Mexico for cheaper labour, and the impact of such actions has cost thousands of Canadians their
jobs.
By joining this free trade agreement, Canada has been able to increase its trade with the US and
Mexico. Two decades after the implementation of NAFTA, total merchandise trade between
Canada and the US more than doubled at an annualized growth rate of 4.4%. During the same
period, Canada s merchandise exports to Mexico also increased almost seven fold, and its trade
with Mexico equaled $31 billion alone in the year 2012. Furthermore, a study completed by the
Fraser Institute pointed out

The Integumentary System In The Human Body
The Integumentary System plays an extensive role in our everyday lives. It consists of hair, skin,
nails, and glands. Therefore, it is one of the largest organ systems that can be seen and in the human
body. All these structures help protect the inner portion of the body. But the most important
structure overall is the skin.
The skin is used as a waterproof layer protecting everything on the inside of the body. The skin
regulates the temperature of the body and the moisture. It also works as a barrier keeping certain
diseases from entering the body, like bacteria and viruses. Likewise it also helps against harmful
rays like ultraviolet radiation. The skin is a sensory organ meaning it can distinguish if it is cold or

In her article Women s History Joan Scott states that it is important for historians to be attentive to
both the ways in which politics constructs gender and gender constructs politics . First, definitions
for politics and gender will be established in order to analyze Scott s claim. Second, what Scott
meant by the claimpolitics constructs gender will be illustrated. Third, the contradictory claim
gender constructs politics by JoanScott will be explained. Finally, this paper will evaluate why it is
important for historians to be attentive to both the notion that politics constructs gender and gender

gender will also be examined. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both politics (all relationships involving unequal distributions of power) and gender involve
cultural definitions and as a result politics and gender have influence on each other. Historians, as
Joan Scott states, must be aware the influence that politics and gender have on one another in order
to create a complete, accurate history.
The idea that historians should be aware that politics constructs gender in the first part of Scott s
claim seems logical. In order to understand why it is important for historians to be attentive to
the idea that politics constructs gender it must be demonstrated what Joan Scott meant by this
claim. All relationships can be defined by their respective balance of power. There is either an
equal balance of power or there is an unequal balance of power. Relationships that have an
unequal balance of power, as Joan Scott defines, involve politics. It can be generalized that in
order to maintain power those with influence create rules or perform actions that seek to sustain
their authority. The rules and actions do not have to be formal and include methods such as
labeling individuals, biological groups, or socially created groups such as gender. Over time,
gender type has been associated, or labeled, with power by those who have the power. As the
balances of power change over time, the rules and actions towards those

Stein And Stryker Summary
Stein and Stryker respond to two important challenges within the field: Stein responds to the
struggle of finding a methodology of historiography that allows for a distinction to be drawn
between popular conceptions and lived experiences of sex, gender, sexuality, love, marriage and
family, while Stryker unravels the complexity of the register of the discourse, specifically when
defining the taxonomies of gender, sex and sexuality.
The former is significant because given that sexuality and sex were considered to be parts of the
private sphere of the lives of individuals, it is hard to find reliable, primary sources on which to
base a historical timeline on. In addition, finding sources originating from both institutions of power
and individuals

Standard State Conservation Districts Law (1931-1939)
The Government started out in 1934 with the Taylor Grazing Act, which set restrictions on the use
of public lands for grazing, followed by a switch from free ranging cattle to feedlots (Naff). On
March 3, 1937, Arkansas became the first state to enact the Standard State Conservation Districts
Law (Dust Bowl 1931 1939). Other men started a business of erupting TNT in the sky to encourage
rainfall (Surviving the Dust Bowl). President Roosevelt ordered the Civilian Conservation Corps
to plant trees from Canada to Abilene, Texas, in a huge belt of more than two million to break the
wind, hold water in the soil, and keep the soil itself in place. Irrigation expansion was the most
essential solution to the drought for crop purposes, but discouraged due to water availability

Farmers were paid close to a dollar an acre for the areas to which they applied the new farming
techniques. The land that was acquired from the displaced farmers were re seeded into grass to
prevent further wind erosion. Lorene White said, My dad was stubborn. The government would
try to help. He would just refuse. He didn t want to disgrace the family by receiving help
(Surviving the Dust Bowl). In 1941, rain poured down on the region, dust storms ceased, crops
thrived, economic prosperity returned, and the historic Dust Bowl was over. Contour planting
became another solution to the erosion problem; they plowed furrows that followed the slop of the

Character Analysis Of Mark Watney In The Martian
Mark Watney in the book, The Martian by Andy Weir stayed on Mars for over a year and a half.
Alone and hopeless, from the day he was stranded to the day he left, it was a never ending struggle
to survive taking a deep toll on him mentally and physically. Mark Watney s personality and attitude
never changed, he took the worse of situations and lightened them up, while still understanding
fully of the seriousness of them. Traumatizing events and life threatening circumstances never even
phased Watney, he kept the same positive attitude throughout the entirety of the novelresulting in
him being a static character and making little changethroughout the book. Mark Watney was
brought onto Ares 3 (the mission to Mars) mostly because of his charisma. When put under
pressure and tough situations, he deals with this by cracking jokes, Yes, of course duct tapeworks in
a near vacuum. Duct tape works anywhere. Duct tape is magic and should be worshipped.
During high stress moments, Watney is constantly making remarks like this quote. Being able to
poke fun at a bad situation is Watney s way of easing tension levels and making the best of bad
situations. Having this charisma was crucial for giving Watney hope to keep pushing on each day,
which is why he never changed, having any other personality would be counterproductive to his
main goal of getting rescued. Being able to analysis whatever problem is thrown at him then from
there ease stress from cracking jokes was Watney s way of

Offensive Speech
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has a priority to protect all American citizens from offensive
speech/hate crime because it is believed its propagators are responsible for brainwashing Americans
into terrorism acts. All and sundry have the right to free speech as stated in the First Amendment of
the Constitution Congress shall make no law respecting...or abridging the freedom of speech, or of
the press. (Lovett, 2013 ) It is on this basis that the citizens of America are able to keep their
government accountable and in check of its actions and ensures America is a state for the people
by the people themselves.
The federal government s perception of offensive speech has evolved over the years, for instance,
Manet s Olympia art masterpiece was considered offensive in the Nineteenth Century but in present
day it is regarded as a piece of great value and real craftsmanship. Just like art tastes and
interpretation changes over the decades, so does the people and federal interpretation of hate

The Ethics Of Care, And Virtue Ethics
I am currently a computer science major and plan on becoming a computer programmer. My
love for technology including video games is unique along with my morals. Through the course
we covered five moral philosophies which can fit into my life. There is not a perfect moral
philosophy, which is why I will be taking bits and parts from the five different one to make one
which fits my life style and morals. The five I will be dissecting are, Utilitarianism, Social Contract
Theory, Kant, The Ethicsof Care, and Virtue Ethics. Utilitarianism is a theory which I can agree
with, mostly. I would like to do what makes the majority of people happy, however, it might not
always be the correct decision. An example would be people at a workplace each decide to steal
five dollars and not tell (no one gets caught), this would make everyone happy but is it really
morally correct. It also depends on the outcome, if the consequences outweigh the happiness then
the act is not ethical. There are also other factors which can come into play, one scenario about
the train going down the tracks. You can save a bunch of people by switching the train to another
track, but the person on the other track is someone you love. This one person means more to you
than just one unit of happiness which does not follow the rule, everyone s happiness is the same.
Utilitarianism brings a great way to make ethical decisions, but it cannot be used in every situation
which is why it only needs to be applied when

The Hiding Place Book Report
The Hiding Place by Orna Jagur
The Hiding Place is about Corrie ten Boom, her family, and how they helped the Jews in Holland
when Germany invaded Holland in World War II.
The main characters are Corrie, her older sisters Betsie and Nollie, her older brother Willem, and
their father, Casper ten Boom, commonly referred to as Opa.
The book starts out in January of 1937, in Haarlem, Holland.
When Germany invaded Holland during the beginning of World War II, the Jews were the
German soldiers and Adolf Hitler s main targets. Jews were required to wear a yellow star on their
shirt, and if they walked around town during the day, they risked being taken into captivity by the
German soldiers. This, among other racism against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So Corrie would take the ration cards that were hidden and give them to Jews. After a year or so,
Corrie and her family ran out of places to send Jews for hiding, so they were forced to keep 7 Jews
in their own house.
A fellow member of the Dutch Underground warned the ten Boom family that if their house
was ever to be searched by soldiers and they had Jews in their house, they d be in trouble. For
families living in the country this wasn t much of a problem, but the ten Boom house (the Beje),
was located on the main street of the city and around the corner from the German headquarters!
Since the Beje also served as a pretty famous watch store, this could also be a problem because
random people could come in during open store hours. To fix this problem, a man offered to
build a secret room located somewhere in the Beje. This room is where the Jews would hide if
the Beje had been broken in and searched through by the Germans. The man had built the secret
room into the back of Corrie s personal bedroom. When he was done, it was completely
unnoticeable to the naked eye that there was a hidden room behind her bedroom wall. For months,
the 7 Jews (Eusie, Jop, Henk, Leendert, Meta, Thea, and Mary) just slept in it.
On February 28th, 1944, the Secret room got its first and only time to actually hide the 7 Jews in
the ten Boom household. It seemed, somehow,

I M Black and I M Proud
Black History speech: I m Black and I m Proud
As we come to the close of another black History Month, we have been reflecting upon our
heritage. Upon such people as Chrispus Atticks, Harriet Tubman, Fredrick Douglas, George
Washington Culver, Dr. Charles Drew, Thurgood Marshal, Malcolm X, and of course Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. and many, many more. And as we remember and review these names we realize
that in any other society this would be a great list of historical figures. But being in the society that
we are in, our contributions have been, to say the least, SUPPRESSED.
So therefore we have to acknowledge our own, since history will not acknowledge us we choose to
acknowledge ourselves. And so this month of celebration and ... Show more content on

So beloved I salute you today and if you will allow me to paraphrase of one of our American
slogans, YOU VE COME ALONG WAY BABY .
And I want to tell you that we have indeed have come along way, but that s not to say that there isn
t still a ways to go; because it seems like we have been carrying our cross from the beginning of
time, you remember that it was a black man named Simon the Cyrenian, who carried the cross for
Christ. And then we as a people, were brought to America and we carried the cross of slavery, and
then after slavery was abolished, we carried the cross of prejudice and segregation, and believe it or
not, we are still carrying that cross today. However all is not gloom and doom, all is not lost,
because you see my brothers and sisters, we are one of the few people who realize that GREATER
IS HE, THAT IS IN US, THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.
So yes I m proud to be an African Americanbecause one day a black woman riding a bus was tired
and decided that she wanted to sit down.
I m proud to be an African American because a man named Dr. Charles Drew developed the
technique for blood transfusions, and even though he himself died because after being in an

Analysis Of The Great Gatsby
Ms.SedaJoseph Rosendo PD 5May 3, 2016At the end of the novel of The Great Gatsby, Nick
recounts all the things that had just occurred and says I see now that this has been a story of the
West, after all Tom and Gatsby, Daisy and Jordan and I, were all Westerners, and perhaps we
possessed some deficiency in common which made us subtly unadaptable to Eastern life. Nick
says it was a story of the West because they all had the common trait of being lured and
accustomed into the Eastern style instead of their origins in the West. The West proven to not be
the preferable home of each of these characters, as they all made the decision to move to the
East. On the East, where there was a rapid and growing dream of wealth and prosperity. Once
they achieve this, they think they can do what ever they want, after all they have gotten the
classic American dream so now what is there to achieve? Although the wealthy should hold high
profile images, much trouble is caused by them as portrayed by some of the main characters in
the book. Tom, Gatsby and Daisy are each characters that couldn t adapt to Eastern life. Each went
through different fates, but all with the common deficiency of being affected negatively by
Eastern life and portray an overall story of their lives rooted from the West. First, there is Tom
Buchanan, who came from Chicago and went to college with Nick. At the time he was a football
player and of course a giant with hardheaded features, that

  • 2. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Essay If you owe your bank a hundred pounds, you have a problem; but if you owe it a million, it has.(1) In the year of 1327, Kind Edward III of England defaulted on his Italian debts. This caused the banks of Bardi and Peruzzi in Florence to collapse. Who would know that over 650 years later, the world would still have these types of problems? After World War II, the need for an organization like the IMF was finally realized. After the war, politicians and economists began to work on blue prints for a postwar world. They envisioned a liberal international economic order, based on stable world currencies and revived world trade. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) finally came into existence on December 27, 1945. On this date, twenty nine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... International banks have made risky loans all over the world because they knew that if trouble arose, the fund would step in to resolve the situation as it has done in the past. The IMF has played a critical role in many of the epochal events in the 1990 s. The IMF lent 18 billion dollars to Mexico in 1994, after the peso collapsed. It gave Russia over 10 billion dollars in 1999. The IMF has helped drive inflation from 1,000 percent a year down to a tolerable 10 percent a year, thanks to Russia listening to what the IMF said and doing as they suggested. It has given Indonesia 10 billion dollars, and has helped Indonesia demonopolize industries. It gave 4 billion to Thailand, which was the epicenter of the East Asian Crisis. The IMF helped closed dozens of reckless banks. True, the IMF did many little things wrong, however, it did the important ones right. The Philippines is a prime example on how effectively the IMF can work. For years, Filipinos suffered the weaknesses of economic and business policies. Under the tutelage of the International Monetary Fund for nearly 30 years, and especially during the past decade, they faced up to their problems. Many sectors of their society suffered greatly, and some complained loudly. However, they persisted and, with the help of the IMF and the courage of the Philippine people, they exited from the IMF program. How did they do this? They assembled one of the best economic ... • 3. The Importance Of Mathematics In Education In this paper, I will be writing about the math curriculum, including geometry, taught in schools across America in grades first through twelfth. In addition, I will also discuss what students in other countries are taught in the areas of mathematics. Then, we will look at the level of mathematical knowledge of students in the United States compares to those other countries. Finally, we will find out if there is a way we can improve our educational system to better our future generations understand of mathematics. First, we will briefly discuss the importance of learning mathematics at an early age. One of the most important reasons it is important for children to learn mathematics is that is teaches critical thinking skills. Sometimes what students learn in math is not so much important is that it is teaching students how to think. Some math concepts are very involved and not regularly used but if a student can understand those they will be prepared when faced with real world problems. Understanding basic math is also an important of basic life. regardless of occupation, people will need to use numbers in their finances and other areas. In addition, math is used across many fields to solve problems. Basic calculus principles are the foundation to engineering. In the United States, educationstandards are regulated by state governments. From kindergarten to twelfth grade, the states decide what will be in their curriculum. • 4. Live Your Own Life In Two Kinds By Amy Tan Live Your Own Life Two kinds by Amy Tan is a short story that you could pull many themes from. The main and most obvious theme I pulled from the story is that everyone is responsible to choose their future. My mother believed you could be anything you wanted to be in America (Tan 49). This quote shows you the confidence her mother had when it came to doing something you believed in while you were in the United States. This idea is important because her mom thought she could make her daughter into anything because they lived in the United States and many other people have been successful in the United States too. Two or three months went by without any mention of my being a prodigy. And then one day my mother was watching the Ed Sullivan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sea World Gold Coast Australia Sea World Gold Coast Australia is a marine animal theme park. The park includes rides, shows and marine attractions. Sea World founded Sea World Research Rescue Foundation Inc. (SWRRFI) which committed to promote a number of marine research projects and rescue marine organisms activities. Sea World s goals are to strengthen knowledge for youth about the ocean habitat and ecology of the marine lives, encourage the public about the marine biodiversity conservation and promote youth education and public awareness. Positioning Sea World as teach through lively activities is also a priority. Past media coverage of Sea World has been largely marine mammal topics based, with little substantial discussion around animal conservation or Sea World information. Although the media port of Sea World provides several marine animal contents, it leads to the media relations problem: Sea World s media releases tend to using marketing strategies that have resulted in an increasing lack of credibility in marine mammal conservation. This does not align with Sea World goals of youth education and strengthened public awareness. An opportunity therefore exists for Sea World to improve awareness of marine conservation, ecological populations and research to marine animals in the short term via media coverage in connection with SWRRF in Queensland. 1.2 Target publics There are main audiences and publics will be targeted in order to push the opportunity as follows: Queensland youths ... • 6. Number Of Basketball Players In Research Division of Basketball Players Children develop bad habits at a young age and continue these bad habits until they are corrected. Sometimes these things aren t corrected until its almost too late. Habits can be picked up from parents, grandparents, coaches, and peers. I know that the longer I am around someone the more I act like that person. In any sport you will have many coaches and you will learn something you didn t know with every coach you have. But some things aren t developed from others, some players are born with these characters and help them become the type of player they are. 1.The Dramatic Player: The dramatic player overreacts about everything to draw attention to their self so they can be the center of attention. For example, on my basketball team Susie is constantly getting hurt. One day at practice she gently fell to the ground and instantly started acting like she had fallen from a 10 story building. As a teammate of Susie I have learned that it is easier to give her the attention as soon as she starts acting out. Another type of player is one that makes everything said to them a big deal. Some players on the team cannot take criticism, or being told what to do. Susie is this type of player also, and will turn a simple please look for me on the block to throw me the darn ball next ... For example, Lilly on my basketball team will blame her man scoring on someone else when clearly they scored because she wasn t playing any defense. The most common excuse used in basketball is that wasn t my man when in reality nine times out of ten it is the excuse makers man. These types of players would rather the team suffer than put forth the effort to do what is asked of them. Like people say one bad apple will ruin the whole bunch , I wouldn t say the excuse maker ruins the whole team but they do make it hard to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Using bones, teeth and joints for reconstructing activity... During an individual s lifetime the activities they involve themselves in impact on their many bodily tissues. Markers for these activities are left in the bones, joints and dentition which is useful for anthropologists as only skeletal material is left in the case of most ancient populations. Subsequently much research has been undertaken in this area with varying levels of validity. In this essay I seek to explain what information can be reliably gathered from skeletal material, it will focus on bonedensity and muscle attachments associated with heavy workloads, jointwear caused by repeated processes such as grinding grain, osteoarthritis and tooth wear associated with tool use. To aid this discussion I will detail the activity changes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Food gathering, butchering and carrying materials for fires and temporary shelters are all fairly short but high intensity physical exercise. Subsequently in hunter gatherer populations there is a trend in the archaeological record for higher bone density and greater cortical bone thickness in cross section (Maggiano et al, 2008). The opposite is true of agricultural societies of the past. Activities involved with agriculture are often slow, repetitive low load level tasks such as weeding, sowing seeds and the picking and harvesting of crops (Bridges, 1989). These activities are mainly upper body activities and are more commonly associated with joint wear and osteoarthritis, which I will mention later. Muscle attachments are the sites on the bone where ligaments are anchored, these may become exaggerated in individuals with larger than average musculature. Based on the crude argument that hunter gatherers used leg muscles in day to day activities and agricultural peoples used their upper body in activity more it stands to reason that the respective muscle attachments would be enlarged. Molnar for example attempts to trace general as well as three specific prehistoric activities: archery, harpooning, and kayaking that are likely to have been performed in past populations from the Baltic sea area using assessment of ... Head Start Case Study Dear Head Start Board Member, I as do I am sure that parents may be looking forward to their kids returning to school, but they re probably not so excited about the daily challenges around transportation. Not only do most kids need to be dropped off they need to be picked up from school. For working parents who have their own schedules to maintain, all this can be hugely stressful, and I know lots of families can relate to this. I remember back to when my son first start here at this center, and they still had bus transportation available, it was so much more convenient and less stressful getting him to from school every day. While this may appear normal I see it as a risk of those children getting sick because they were being exposed to these conditions. • 9. Relationship Between Science And Religion The relationship between science and religion is an arguably rigid one, the two topics presently posing contrasting ideas in modern society. However, this relationship has been varied over the course of time, in particular the nineteenth century. We can put forth the argument that it was not necessarily as simple as the two being mutually exclusive concepts that continuously opposed each other; rather the two held a complicated relationship. These apparent conflicts between scienceand religioncan often be resultant of more complex debates, for example concerning political power. It can also be seen that there was a continually shifting boundary between the two subjects, making it merely reductionist to say the two were in conflict. Science and religion were in conflict to the extent that both these concepts were adapting to the contemporary world, sometimes causing them to clash. During the nineteenth century, religion still remained a prevalent influence in Britain, from which we can argue that there was no widespread conflict caused by the sciences. Britain was a predominantly protestant country, with an estimation of attendance being made by Dr Chalmers, from which he concluded that five eighths, or sixty two and a half per cent., of the people of a town might attend religious services. The period also saw the revival of the evangelical movement, from which people believed that religion should inform every aspect of daily life, and we must spend our lives ... It comprises individuals as well as entities, the latter spanning a large range of organizations and institutions on the global, regional, sub regional as well as the local levels. Non state actors (NSA) are entities that participate in international relations, these entities cannot be identified by common sociological features as they include international organizations, corporations, non governmental organizations ( NGOs ), trade associations, and transnational corporations, terrorist groups and transnational criminal organizations. They are organizations with sufficient power to influence and cause a change even though they do not belong to any established institution of a state. Non state actors such as national or international non governmental organisations (NGOs) are adding their voices to international development policy debates by organising, campaigning and lobbying across national boundaries in order to have a greater influence on international development policy making and faced with growing economic and political interdependencies of markets and states, governments have to cope with the increasingly complex postmodern environment, including the activities of NGOs. There were two invader sources, one was from Norway called Norse , the other was from Denmark called Danelaw . • 13. The Fight Against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract... Over the years, the nursing practice has developed mechanisms towards improving service delivery through research and management training. The fight against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs) is one area that continuously attracts a lot of concern in nursing. Indwelling urinary catheters (IUC) have been the best option in addressing CAUTI (Wilde et al., 2013). But this has resulted in more health risks and compromised service delivery among nurses, calling for new ways to either upgrade the existing mechanisms or invent new methods over the same. As a result, the American Nurses Association, in conjunction with St. Francis Hospital clinical nurse specialists is working on a pilot program that is in the last stages of its review. The program developed an evidence based tool to be used in catheterization. Its main focus is to determine how health facilities can work together to improve the quality of service delivery through good management, as well as evaluation of its implication on performance, training, and future nursing practice (St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 2016). As a result, this paper examines the milestone achieved by St Francis Hospital towards quality improvement in catheterassociated urinary tract contagions. Literature Review The American Nurses Association and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that CAUTI is the high prevalence healthcare associated infection variety; hence it accounts for at least 30% of acute ... • 14. Analysis Of `` On Political Labels `` By Christopher... On Political Labels by Christopher Borick and Four Words That Will Decide the Election by David Green both deal with how language is used in politics. Borick s essay is a more historical and informative of the origins of political language and key words, while Green s essay is a game plan for the Democrats to defeat the Republicans by using their own rhetoric against them. David Green makes great points in his essay, but because of his left wing bias and his overall view of Republicans being almost idiots discredit his essay. This is because of the multiple schools of thought that aren t taken into account for in his essay. Borick s historical analysis of political terms gives the reader a greater understanding on the rebuttals the Democrats and Republicans can use, but his overall naГЇve tone on politics today makes his essay almost utopian or unrealistic. Since both essays were written before the 2012 election, they have some outdated views because of our current changing political climate. The current political climate has made the Democratic Party is leaning more European Socialist, while the Republican Partyis being dominated by any reactionary movement that is prides itself on nationalism and anti immigration rhetoric. Throughout the film, Mr. Keating expresses his unique personality in several ways. Mr. Keating has an unusual teaching style, unlike the strict and uniform style of the other teachers at Welton. It is much more relaxed, and the students tend to enjoy class more. His style, much like his personality, are very unique and creative. One way he expresses his unique teaching style was by having his students rip out the introduction to their poetry textbook. He told them to rip out the pages because he wanted his students to think for themselves. The textbook told them what to think about poetry, which was not what Mr. Keating wanted. By telling them to rip out the pages, he expressed his individuality through his unique teaching style. Another way Mr. Keating embodied individuality was by having his students stand on his desk. • 18. The Theory Of Ethical Leadership Explanation of Ethical Leadership The research of Thomas W. H. Ng and Daniel C. Feldman provides quantitative data, which validates the effectiveness of Ethical Leadership through the meta analysis of 101 ethical leadership related studies conducted over the last 15 years. Somewhat in nascent form, Ethical Leadership (Ng Feldman, 2015) is viewed as conduct predicated on exhibiting positive role mode actions while promoting moral member conduct through collaboration, communication, and reinforcing behavior (Ng Feldman, 2015). Leaders who employ EL are considered to weigh their ethical values significantly during their transactions with assigned team members. Furthermore, EL also suggests there is a correlation between how well a leader assess their own values and beliefs prior to exercising referent and reward power behavior. Connection to Social Learning Theory The genesis of EL precepts may have a cultural basis in either Eastern or Western philosophy. In terms of theoretical impact, it may be impossible to determine which hemisphere has a majority stake exactly. This may be due to the cultural differences in identification of self within the context of popular religions such as Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Judeo Christian beliefs (Ng Feldman, 2015). Regardless, the majority of those leaders who demonstrated EL generally exhibited a psychological motivation to be just. The Decameron was a collection of bawdy and serious tales written by Boccaccio. Boccaccio was most likely born in Florence or Certaldo and was the illegitimate son of a wealthy Florentine merchant, Bocacino di Chellino. As a youth he was trained to follow in his father s business but he eventually chose instead to study canon law and subsequently pursued the arts. It is a combination of Greek words for ten and day. According to Frankforter, the Decameron is a fictive record of a hundred stories that ten Florentine men and women told to entertain themselves while they hid from the plague in the comfort of a luxurious house (Frankforter, pg. 348). The one hundred allegorical stories are shared through the narrative voices of these young people as they spend their nights regaling the company with tales from the erotic, sensual, and bawdy to the intellectual, philosophical or tragic. The narrative s fundamental theme is of struggle between life and death in the face of the Black Plague and the various ways life continues in spite of traditional moral attitudes and beliefs. While primarily a work of fiction, the Introduction to The Decameron has emerged as an important historical record of the physical, psychological, and social effects of the aggressive spread of the previously unknown Yersina pestis bacteria. Which supports the idea that an abusive parent justifies abuse as a legitimate punishment ( Bensley, Ruggles, Simmons, Harris, Williams, Putvin, Allen, 2003, pg 1331). Many scientists come to Easter Island to study how and why the statues were made. These statues have an average weight of about 20 tons and an average height of 20 feet. Historians are not sure how the native people of Easter Island, also formally known as Rapa Nui, were able to drag and place these large statues in their intended locations, but the most commonly accepted theory is that the people used long pieces of ropes to drag these statues to their places. According to Aristotle, humans are the most imitative of all creatures and status competition is a cycle of mutual emulation. How emulation works is that there is the person who is doing the emulation, the individual who is being emulated, and then relationship between the two. He did not care about his wife s business, or the simple fact that he had bills and a mortgage to pay. Instead he kept buying things, much like the Baby Boomers, and worked his way into a debt that he could not get out of because he cared too much about his reputation and how popular he wanted to seem to his friends. Aristotle also stated that some people are only concerned with keeping up with their neighbors, copying their every move. It becomes a life obsession, and that was the main idea of the movie. Aristotle believes in order to follow the mean and be rational, one must avoid excess or deficiency by asking themselves if they re emulating at the right times and places? The Cambridge Dictionary of Sociology defines inequality as the unequal distribution of opportunities, rewards, and power among and between individuals, households and groups (1). It goes on to say that the subfield of social stratification has as its main task the description and analysis of inequalities, or the makeup of the stratification system of any given society .(1) From this one definition, we can already begin to see the strong links that lie between inequalities and social stratification. For example, before Curley s wife death, she confesses her desire to be a movie star. Also, Crooks allows himself the pleasant fantasy of hoeing a patch of garden on Lennie s farm one day, and Candy latches on desperately to George s vision of owning a couple of acres. Before the action of the story begins, circumstances have robbed most of the characters of these wishes. Curley s wife, for instance, she has resigned herself to an unfulfilling marriage. What makes all of these dreams typically American is that the dreamers wish for untarnished happiness and the freedom to follow their own desires.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Catch 22 is a novel satirizing war, and because of this, it inevitably has a strong underlying theme of death. But unlike many war novels, Catch 22 doesn t use violent depictions of fighting or bloody death scenes to denounce the evils of war; it utilizes humor and irony to make an arguably more effective point. And even more importantly, Catch 22 is ultimately a novel about hope, not death. He sees homeless children; he witnesses men beating children and dogs, a rape, and a convulsing soldier; he walks over a street littered with broken human teeth. This is one of the rare sections of the novel that does not use humor to point out the cruelty and inhumanity of the world. The scene comes to a climax when Yossarian returns to his apartment and discovers that Aarfy has raped an innocent maid and then thrown her out his window, leaving her dead on the sidewalk below. Then, ironically, Yossarian is arrested for being in Rome without a pass and Aarfy is given an apology for the disturbance, his hideous crime going unpunished. This chapter is when Yossarian begins to really recognize the true face of the military and the meaning of Catch 22; when he goes to the brothel and the old woman tells him that the girls have all been kicked out of their home by soldiers, she explains to him that Catch 22 says they have a right to do anything we can t stop them from doing (417;Ch.39). In 2013, the South Carolina Supreme Court threw out this settlement, citing the fact that the attorney general had distorted Brown s intent when he became involved in the administration of Brown s estate. It is certainly unheard of for an attorney general to redirect assets that a testator had left to someone else. However, the question that politicians and economists of our nation are facing is whether Canada should remain in NAFTA with its partners, United States and Mexico. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By 1997, three years after the ratification of NAFTA, 47% of Canadian manufacturing plants that existed in 1988, which accounted for 28% of the jobs in the economy, had closed. To add on, 350,000 manufacturing jobs from 2002 2008, were lost due to industrial plants moving to Mexico. This drastic drop in factory/plant numbers can be attributed to the fact that companies put their bottom line first moving facilities to Mexico because Mexican minimum wage is only $5.10 compared to a minimum wage of $11.00 in Ontario. As a further incentive to relocate south, because of NAFTA, corporations don t have to pay tariffs on products shipped back to domestic markets. Therefore, it is evident that NAFTA has resulted in many industrial firms/plants moving to Mexico for cheaper labour, and the impact of such actions has cost thousands of Canadians their jobs. By joining this free trade agreement, Canada has been able to increase its trade with the US and Mexico. Two decades after the implementation of NAFTA, total merchandise trade between Canada and the US more than doubled at an annualized growth rate of 4.4%. The idea that historians should be aware that politics constructs gender in the first part of Scott s claim seems logical. An example would be people at a workplace each decide to steal five dollars and not tell (no one gets caught), this would make everyone happy but is it really morally correct. A fellow member of the Dutch Underground warned the ten Boom family that if their house was ever to be searched by soldiers and they had Jews in their house, they d be in trouble. For families living in the country this wasn t much of a problem, but the ten Boom house (the Beje), was located on the main street of the city and around the corner from the German headquarters! Since the Beje also served as a pretty famous watch store, this could also be a problem because random people could come in during open store hours. To fix this problem, a man offered to build a secret room located somewhere in the Beje. This room is where the Jews would hide if the Beje had been broken in and searched through by the Germans. The man had built the secret room into the back of Corrie s personal bedroom. When he was done, it was completely unnoticeable to the naked eye that there was a hidden room behind her bedroom wall. • 55. I M Black and I M Proud Black History speech: I m Black and I m Proud As we come to the close of another black History Month, we have been reflecting upon our heritage. Upon such people as Chrispus Atticks, Harriet Tubman, Fredrick Douglas, George Washington Culver, Dr. Charles Drew, Thurgood Marshal, Malcolm X, and of course Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and many, many more. And as we remember and review these names we realize that in any other society this would be a great list of historical figures. Analysis Of The Great Gatsby Ms.SedaJoseph Rosendo PD 5May 3, 2016At the end of the novel of The Great Gatsby, Nick recounts all the things that had just occurred and says I see now that this has been a story of the West, after all Tom and Gatsby, Daisy and Jordan and I, were all Westerners, and perhaps we possessed some deficiency in common which made us subtly unadaptable to Eastern life. Nick says it was a story of the West because they all had the common trait of being lured and accustomed into the Eastern style instead of their origins in the West. The West proven to not be the preferable home of each of these characters, as they all made the decision to move to the East. On the East, where there was a rapid and growing dream of wealth and prosperity. Once they achieve this, they think they can do what ever they want, after all they have gotten the classic American dream so now what is there to achieve? Although the wealthy should hold high profile images, much trouble is caused by them as portrayed by some of the main characters in the book. Tom, Gatsby and Daisy are each characters that couldn t adapt to Eastern life. Each went through different fates, but all with the common deficiency of being affected negatively by Eastern life and portray an overall story of their lives rooted from the West.
