Creole Hybridity in Literature
Jamaican patois is not an official language, which is the same for most if not all languages are
not, although recently, there are some creole dictionaries and Haitian Creole is being taught in
schools. People tend to have a negative perception of a creole and thus, the people who speak and
chose to write in this creole languageare often lumped into a box. There is a stigma attached to it,
and people often say that it is the language of the poor lower class of the country. Growing up in
St. Lucia, I saw how this is true, people are often embarrassed by their parent who spoke creole,
or they as children where forbidden to speak creole as to avoid being stereotyped. The language
expresses the history of the Caribbeanand the hybridity that emerges through language. In the
diaspora, people depend on creating a space of home in the host country and language is an
important part of this space. The connection immigrants feel when they come into contact with
literature that features a language of their native homeland offers them their own space in the
literary world, and a way for their stories to be told. The writers and people who use creole are
confirming their identities as a merger of multiple influences. They use the language despite the
stigma and fight to maintain the culture by doing so language is part of one s identity. Wordy,

Analysis Of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest By Ken Kesey
The psychosexual development theory is proposed by a 1900s Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud.
He was famous for various psychological theories, including the theory of personality development,
dreams and psychosexual development. The psychosexual development theory discussed about
four stages of life that contribute to the development of personality. There are oral, anal, phallic,
latency and genital phase. Sometimes people can surpass these stages and grown to a fully mature
adult, however, many people often retain some obsessions from specific stage and contribute to
certain aspect of personality, such as Oedipus complex and difficulties in identify sexual identity.
These stages will be further discussed in this paper, and its relation... Show more content on

Sefelt? (Kesey, 78) Fredrickson felt satisfy when he eat or taking things through his mouth.
Hence, Mr. Fredrickson and Mr. Sefelt only exchange medicines during the night before sleep.
Despite for security reason, taking pill for Fredrickson is also an action for calmness, and it
helps him to go to sleep in a comfortable stage. The pleasure that he gain from the action is
significant to his daily life motion. The second stage of development is anal phase. This stage
refers to the age of 18 months or two years old to preschool or about three years old (Hjelle, 288).
Dr. Freud believed that this stage is crucial to the development of adult personality traits. This stage
had been extensively researched by many psychologists, who believe that anal erotism is the most
powerful influence on personality, it emerges into individual as reaction formation or sublimations
(Kline, 10). Sublimation is one of the defense mechanisms that use to transform socially
unacceptable ideal and unconsciously transformed it into socially acceptable actions or behaviors.
Reaction formation refers to unconsciously suppress wish or feeling and a tendency of expressing
actions that oppose to his wishes. They both are defense mechanism when individuals posses ideas
that are opposite of societal wants. One of the symbolic characters who possesses the

Mary Wollstonecraft And Karl Marx
The work of a founding mother of feminism and the work of a philosopher who was a proponent
for the working class movement and an advocate for communism may seem to be too different to
have overarching themes within them, but Mary Wollstonecraft and Karl Marx have many topics
that can be compared to each other. Though their type of work and topics of discussion do differ to
a great extent, their works both focus on the components of progress, how progress occurs, and
what the final outcome will be. These influential proponents of feminism and communism,
Wollstonecraft and Marx, are both attempting to use their works to aid in the understanding of what
each of their goals were and how society is able to achieve them. Wollstonecraft was the... Show

Marx was a big proponent for the working class movement and the equality in terms of property.
To him, the issue that is most important to conquer is the issue of the estrangement and
alienation of man, where man himself is the alien power over man more specifically, it is
workers who are being estranged (Marx 1988, 79). Consequences of this estrangement can be
seen with private property, because although it seems to be the root of the problem, private
property is actually the consequence of alienated labor , explaining why capitalism is a horror to
him (Marx 1988, 81). It may be thought that an easy way to give workers equality would be to
pay them equal wages, but this is yet another estrangement of labor (Marx 1988, 82). Progress, to
Marx, would need to consist of a way to diminish the root of the problem estrangement of the
worker. This would consist of emancipation of the workers because the emancipation of the
workers would have a large ripple effect, and result in the universal human emancipation (Marx
1988, 82). As it has been addressed multiple times, the estrangement of the worker is the root of
the problem, and a step towards progress would need to consist of the workers being emancipated
so they are no longer alienated and forced to labor while getting nothing but monetary payment for
their labor. The alienation of workers furthers the issue by leading a society towards private

Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer
Jon Krakauer s group, on April 16th, began their 2nd acclimatization starting from base camp
and climbing up too camp one. Hall, the group leader decided that he would like the climbers to
stay at camp one for two nights, camp two for one night, then after that, go back to the base
camp. The next morning they left for camp two, which is about four miles above where they
were at camp one. On his way up, Krakauer sees a dead body. The dead body stuns him for a little
while but then he continues on up the mountain towards camp two. The group makes it up to
base two. The altitude greatly affected Krakauer he mentioned how all that he could do was rest
in his tent with his head in his hands. The next day, after feeling a little nit better, climbs a little
higher than camp two to work more on his acclimatization. While on his climb he comes across
another dead body but this one does not affect him as greatly as the previous one. Jon s group
began to climb; the wind chill was forty degrees below zero. Jon, before he left, expected the sun
to heat him up so he underdressed and then during the hike, became too cold to continue as his
hands and feet were completely numb. Everyone from Jon s group, except for Doug who is injured,
make their next attempt to reach camp three. Jon Krakauermakes it to camp three, finally. Camp
three is about one mile, vertically, below the summit of Mt. Everest. Jon s group then descends
down to the base camp again. Every on in his group is physically

Should Students Be Allowed To Wear Hats In School Research
We should wear hats Have you ever woke up and just decided that you don t wanna get ready or
do your hair for school? Wouldn t it just be easier to throw on a hat and go. The main reason that
they don t let us wear hats already in school is because of the kids being immature while wearing
hats. That observation is based off the one day per year that they encourage us to wear crazy hats
and then it gets out of hand. Now if they would allow us to wear normal ballcaps any day of the
week, it would more than likely be fine. Although hats can be distracting, students should be
allowed to wear hats in school because they allow you to express yourself, saves you time getting
ready, and it protects your hair from the weather. First the schools

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner Essay examples
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner After all that has been said about the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the
airplane is set to revolutionize the airline industry. The 787 Dreamliner is more technologically
advanced than its predecessors and will boast better performance, better fuel efficiency, and higher
passenger comfort. To be honest, with all the new innovations the 787 Dreamliner is said to have,
the airplane is quite a wonder. The question now: Can Boeing deliver? If Boeing succeeds, they will
catapult past their competition, the European manufacturer Airbus. They are confident that the 787
Dreamliner will help them do just that, and have predicted very high sales numbers. According to
Oxford Analytica, Boeing has predicted the sale of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The passenger experience is also supposed to be much improved. The cabin will have improved
humidity, and will be pressurized to 6,000 feet instead of the 8,000 feet that other airliners provide.
Due to the new flight technology, there should also be better noise reduction from the engines, and
a smoother ride (Newairplane). All in all, with all the new improvements, Dreamliner seems to be a
very fitting name for this new aircraft. Boeing has many potential suitors for its 787 Dreamliner. Its
largest customer is the International Lease Finance Corporation, which has ordered 74 aircraft
(Wiki). The International Lease Finance Corporation, or I.L.F.C., leases planes to many of the
world s airlines, such as Air Canada, Lufthansa, American Airlines, Continental Airlines
, and Delta
Airlines (Wiki). According to newairplane.com, a few of the many customers for the Boeing 787 are
British Airways, Northwest Airlines, Korean Air, United Airlines
, and Virgin Atlantic
(Newairplane). The airplane is not expected to be used for passenger service until the fourth
quarter of 2010, so sadly we won t get to see it in action until the end of the year (Wiki). The
Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be replacing the 767 and the 757 jets (Global). The 787 Dreamliner
will be able to carry 250 330 passengers farther distances than these jets, and do it much more
efficiently. Its main competition will be from Airbus, specifically the new

Life Changing Experiences Of Change In My Life
There are hundreds of experiences that have had some sort of impact on my life. Some are very
small and some are much more life altering. Although, these life changing events do not happen
often, they happen to everyone. I have had a few major, life changing occurrences in my
lifetime, some are good and some are not so good. One of them that stands out the most to me
and has impacted me the greatest is something everyone experiences at some point in their lives.
For me, it was on October 20th, 2015, when I was 13 years old, the day my first dog Lucky died.
Lucky was a little Jack Russell Terrier that my mom and dad had bought when he was only a few
months old. They had adopted him in Belgium, about a year before I was born. Lucky had been...

I texted my mom during lunch asking how it went. She said that she would tell me later. That
was the first warning sign, but I just brushed it off. When my mom picked me, I immediately
asked was how Lucky was. My mom was acting much different than usual, she was very quiet.
She told me that the vet said Lucky had kidney disease and all they could do is give him pain
medicine and try to keep him alive until that weekend when my dad got home on Friday. My
first reaction was denial. All I could think was, surely a dog that I had loved so much all my life
could not die. I refused to believe the truth, I spent the entire evening looking up kidney disease,
trying to find a solution that did not exist. I refused to eat or leave Lucky s side. I knew his
health had been declining, but I kept telling myself Lucky will get better. The issue was, I was
only denying the inevitable. The next day was the hardest of my life. At school, I could not
focus, all I could do was think about Lucky. That night, I had to cheer at a game about an hour
away. At first I was not sure if I wanted to go, but my friends convinced me it would be good to
get my mind of Lucky for a little bit. Around the middle of the first quarter I saw my little brother
show up with one of his friends. I immediately knew something was very wrong, why would my
brother come to an away game, especially so far away without my mom, I knew my mom did not
have anything going on that night. Somehow I

A Personal Relationship With Jesus
he Origin of a Personal Relationship Concept
Personal relationship with Jesus.
Being an Atheist, I ve had hundreds of arguments with Christians about Jesus and religion in
general. No matter what evidence I provided, the Christian always seemed to bypass it with the
Personal relationship cop out. They would tell me they don t practice religion, and that they have a
personal relationship with Jesus. They would insist that I take five minutes of my time at night and
call on Jesus while I m all alone. Christians believed that Jesus would answer me, and my pathetic
life will never be the same. It dawned on me that they were merely regurgitating what was taught to
them by others. That the Christian didn t really have a personal relationship with Jesus, but a
personal relationship with themselves. Being frustrated with the fact that Christians can actually
get away with not providing substantial evidence, I decided to research the origin of the personal
relationship copout. Who created the concept of a personal relationship? Is the personal
relationship copout in the bible? How old is the concept of a personal relationship? These are the
questions that turned on the light bulb in my head. I just had to research and find out the answers,
so here it is.
In the 1200s, St. Gertrude wrote a prayer: let my heart be so united with Thine, that our wills may
be one, and mine in all things be conformed to Thine. That fits the expression personal relationship

Macbeth- Text Responce
Prompt: Macbeth is totally responsible for his own downfall
Shakespeare s play Macbeth is about the leading male protagonist succumbing to his ambition and
need for power. Though Macbeth is liable for his own actions, he is not solely responsible for the
events that eventually result in his downfall. Macbeth is corrupted by his wife, Lady Macbeth, as
well as the three weird sisters. Macbeth s contribution towards his downfall is his strong ambitious
nature. Lady Macbeth is the person who induces Macbeth to assassinate King Duncan. The three
weird sisters (witches) play with Macbeth s ambitious nature and sense of security. Macbeth s
downfall is due to himself and two external factors.

In spite of this they decide to play create a false sense of security with Macbeth, security is mortals
chiefest enemy . To do this they made the aspirations that Macbeth sees, sound like nothing can
hurt, kill or dethrone him, none of woman born can harm Macbeth . The witches are responsible for
Macbeth s downfall because they make it seem that he cannot be killed by anything, thus enhancing
his sense of security. This heightened sense of invincibility causes Macbeth to kill MacDuff s
family, and then fight with the thought that no one can hurt him. Macbeth is not totally responsible
for his downfall, the witches twisting of words cause Macbeth to misinterpret the message, which
causes his eventual death.
In Shakespeare s play Macbeth , Macbeth is seen to be the grounds of his own downfall. Macbeth
s actions bring upon his downfall, because it is he who eventually chose to kill Banquo and
MacDuff s family. These actions were due to his ambitious nature. Lady Macbeth is also to blame
for her husband s demise because she is the one who originally pushed Macbeth into killing
Duncan; her actions cause Macbeth to eventually meet his own death. Lady Macbeth is not the only
factor that cause Macbeth s downfall. The three witches are also responsible because they heighten
Macbeth s confidence and put the idea that he cannot be killed by anything. Macbeth s ambitious

Essay Comparing Gilgamesh And The Flood
Throughout the readings of both The Flood from the Epic of Gilgamesh and excerpts from
Genesis 6:5 9:17: The Flood , one has noticed numerous similarities that connect the two articles.
Before one has read the articles, one notices that both readings were written a long time ago in
the B.C. era. Both the readings talk about a God or multiple gods creating a flood because the
humans expressed wickedness. The purpose of the flood was to wipe out mankind. The two
readings ask for a man to build a massive ark/boat. Both the boats were sealed with pitch. Both
stories talk about the God/gods telling the man what dimensions the boat shall be built with. The
man in both readings brought all kinds of animals and some people with with him. Another... Show

Once on the mountain, the man send birds to find dry land and see if the flood has come to an
end. In both readings, one of the birds the man sends out does not return to the ark/boat. The man
in both readings sacrificed something for the God/gods. The God/gods both smelled the sacrifice.
Both readings express that the God/gods promise not to destroy humankind again. One believes
that it is possible that the author of Genesis had some knowledge of the Epic of Gilgamesh because
the readings correlate together so well. The Epic of Gilgamesh originated before Genesis and
shares great detail between both stories. Both of the readings talk about the same event on our
planet. Both Genesis and the Epic of Gilgamesh documented this event at the same time and are
expressing/sharing it in a way they both understand. One of these accounts may have been altered
by a mix up in oral tradition. It would be too much of a coincidence if Genesis took information
from Epic of Gilgamesh because Genesis has more detail compared to the other reading. Genesis
must have witnessed the event and wrote it down in the perspective the author saw it in.The
readings both parallel each other very

Mumbo Jumbo And Traditional Detective Fiction
Since the thesis is going to compare Mumbo Jumbo with the traditional detective fiction. It is
needed here that we should find a definition or standard for the so called traditional detective
fiction . Actually, the pattern of detective fiction is very rigid, allowing few variations from work
to work. Two of the most famous standards for classic detective fictions have been set forth by
Ronald Knox and by S.S.Van Dine (whose real name is Willard Huntington Wright). Ronald Knox
is a British detective story writer. He listed Ten Commandments for detective fictions in his
introduction to The Best [English] Detective Stories of 1928. Similarly, the American detective

This type of fiction highlighted the importance of psychological analysis of the culprits and other
characters. This kind of detective stories is much more violent and suspenseful than other types of
detective fictions. One pattern of this detective fiction of suspense is that: the hero or heroine
must pit his or her wit against the criminals or vicious power in a limited time, or the hero or
heroine is certain to die. The first work of this school is Eden Phillpotts s A Voice From the Dark,
unlike most of the detective novels before, Phillpotts abandoned the whodunit format, the identity
of the culprit is described at the beginning. The detective suffers from lacking enough evidence to
bring the criminal to justice. By tactfully using the criminal s psychological status, Phillpotts
provided the reader a wonderful psychological contest between the detective and the criminal.

Analysis Of The Poem The Solomon
SOLOMON
Solomon wrote I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the
curtains of Solomon. Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon
me: my mother s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards, but
mine own vineyard have I not kept. I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in
Pharaoh s chariots (Song of Solomon 1:5 6, 9).
Solomon was the son of Bathsheba, who was the granddaughter of Ahithophel the Gilonite whose
husband was Uriah the Hittite, and he was a mixed Canaanite son of David (2 Samuel 11:2 3;
23:34; Matthew 1:1 6). After David had killed her husband Uriah and impregnated Bathsheba,
the Lord sent Nathan to the house of David, who told him that the child will die, and the Lord
struck the child which was bore out of adultery and he died (2 Samuel 12:1 19). David prayed,
fasted and worshiped the Lord, and the Lord had mercy on him and gave him Solomon who
prophet Nathan called Jedidiah, because the Lord loved Solomon, he was beloved of the Lord
(2 Samuel 12:20 25). Solomon made mention of his skin complexion in his writings, he said I
am black, and comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar. The word Kedar,
which was used here means black. Solomon had used the blackness of Kedar to describe his skin
complexion. Some scholars stated that this was a poetic word that referred to one of his black
lover. However, this poetic songs does not only

mix to keep up with the demand and satisfy more customer
needs. Starbucks has been constantly introducing new product such as VIA flavored coffees. They
also provide seasonal offerings such as smoked butterscotch latte, citrus green tea latte during

3.1.2 Price Starbucks follows a premium pricing strategy. This pricing strategy takes advantage
of the behavioral pattern of people to purchase more expensive products on the basis of the
perceived correlation between high price and high value. The company s coffee products are
more expensive than most competing products, such as McDonald s Premium Roast. Through
this pricing strategy, the company maintains its high end specialty image (Greenspan, 2015).
Starbucks is not only a high priced coffee shop but it offers a combination of quality, authority,
and relative value. Starbucks sets its prices on the basis of a simple idea: high value at moderate
cost. When people feel that they are getting a good deal for their money, they are more likely to

Depleted Uranium Contamination
Depleted Uranium Contamination
From Military Activities
1.Introduction
Depleted uranium (DU, Q metal, D depletalloy, or D 38) is uranium with a lower concentration
of the fissible isotope U 235 than natural uranium. Natural uranium consists of 99.28% U 238,
0.71% U 235, and 0.0054% U 234.1 Nuclear reactors use uranium as their basic fuel in the form of
UO2.2 DU is a byproduct from enriching natural UO2 to use in these nuclear power reactors.
Uranium decays slowly by emitting an alpha particle. U 238 has a 4,510,000,000 year half life
and U 235 has a 247,000 year half life; which means that DU is significantly less radioactive than
natural uranium. Although it also has civilian uses, DU byproduct majorly has military uses.3,4
Properties that make DU suitable for military weaponry, as a part of kinetic based armor piercing
shells are its high density and pyrophoric nature.5
It wasn t until the 1970 s the Pentagon began searching for material to make denser armor piercing
projectiles that DU started being used in conflicts. After testing various metals, researchers decided

Describe the various types of financial markets
Financial markets bring together the needs of suppliers (investors) and users (borrowers) of funds
Primary market: Where financial claims are initially sold by DSUs (first time) to raise funds.
Public securities are issued/sold by companies to investors (IPOs)
Secondary market: Public securities are traded from current investor to new investors (transfer of
ownerships)

Sustainable Fashion: A Growing Need For Eco Friendly Clothing
Abstract
Every consumer is probably aware that the products they purchase have some kind of effect on the
environment. However, the average person does not know that the textile and clothing
manufacturing industry has one of the greatest. Sustainable fashion is part of a growing design
philosophy which some brands and designers are taking into consideration. The goal of this trend
is to create textiles and garments in terms of an environmental responsibility. There are many ways
that this can be achieved, but there are many key factors that every consumer should be aware of.
Sustainable Fashion: A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As of right now only a small percentage of wool is produced organically, but the interest is
strongly growing. Another great concern of wool manufacturing is the intensive use of water,
energy and chemicals used to clean the greasy wool fiber. Wool required hot water to process and
the cleaning produces a grease sludge that contains a high pollution index. An organic solvent
would be a more appropriate approach in cleaning raw wool because it can be reclaimed and
recycled (Kadolph, 2010).
Artificial, manmade fibers also take on toll on the environment. Synthetics like nylon and polyester
are produced from petrochemicals and are non biodegradable. Petroleum based products are very
detrimental to the environment. The production of nylon creates nitrous oxide which is a
greenhouse gas that is 310 times more potent then carbon dioxide (Challa, 2012). The production of
these synthetics also uses vast amounts of water and energy. Rayon is an artificial fiber made from
wood pulp, which may seem more environmentally friendly, but still has negative effect on the
environment. Even though rayon is created from a natural substance, it is still treated with harmful
chemicals such as caustic soda and sulfuric acid. The impact of textiles on the environment does
not stop after production. Two thirds of a garments carbon footprint occurs after it is purchased
(Challa, 2012). The water and energy used to clean and dry clothing has a

Marketing Strategy For The Chevrolet Tahoe Campaign
O.P.E.N. involves on demand, personal, engaging and networked. Open branding is a brand shifts
its communication platform from traditional to innovative. This novel platform allows customers to
share their thoughts and ideas directly on the marketer s website. With the increase number of new
technologies, customers are no longer interested in traditional market because the traditional market
lacks communication with their customers and this results in lower consumer loyalty for a brand.
Open branding strategy gives the traditional market an opportunity to improve their relationships
with customers. Consumers want to engage more on market today, and they want their voice to be
heard, so many brands shift their strategies to keep their paces in the digital era.
Positive and Negative Aspects of the Chevy Tahoe Campaign Positive aspects. The Chevrolet
Company took a big step forward in its advertising campaign last spring. The company decided to
have a new promotional form which was to run an ad contest that people can post their video clips
about the Chevy Tahoe in its website. The benefit for this approach is to involve people who are
really interested in the company s products in conversation (Rose, 2006). By doing the customer
generated advertising, Chevrolet enhances the relationship with its customers and establishes the
customer loyalty. People can share their thoughts and participate in the communication which
means they have the power to influence the brand and the

Lucky Alice Sebold Analysis
I quickly changed after that day. It was a scorching summer day, and we got dispatched out for a
motorcycle accident. We had to land the life flight because the accident was so awful. I was
around fourteen years old and I never saw anyone pass away before. The ambulance heaved up,
and the crew of the helicopter came running over. The guy was a bloody chaos, and he was
having a rigid time staying alive. They underwent rolling him over to the helicopter when he
passes away. I and the other firefighters were holding tarps up so the mob of society couldn t see
him as the EMT s performed CPR. They kept pushing down on his chest for a while until they
finally announced that he was deceased. He had major bleeding on the inside and out. That day I
saw someone just fade. I realized at that point how luckyI was to be alive. I may not have gone
through the same change as Alice Sebolddid, but that made me see things from a different
perspective. I definitely don t understand what Alice went through and she is a very strong
individual. In the novel Lucky by Alice Sebold, Alice could consider herself lucky by not being

Piaget’S Cognitive Developmental Theory States That Children
Piaget s Cognitive Developmental Theory states that children go through four stages of cognitive
development as they actively construct their understanding of the world. Stage one of this theory,
or the sensorimotor stage, infants of the age newborn through two years construct an
understanding of the world by sensory skills (hearing and seeing) with physical actions. This for
example could be a simple game of peak a boo. Skye, the infant in the video clip, giggles at his
mother playing the game. According to Piaget s theory, young infants do not know what happens
when object go out of sight. During the first year, infants learn that objects have life of their own,
even when not visible. This is known as object permanence. Mya knew to look... Show more

When asking the child which has more, she counted and stated that they were the same. When
spreading out the quarters in only one row, making it look like there was more in it than the
other, the child states as observed; the row with the more spread out quarters has more. This is
because one row was longer than the other. The final experiment consisted of Graham crackers.
The young girl was handed one cracker while the adult had two. The girl did not think it was very
fair for the adult to have more. When her cracker was cut in half, she instantly believed she had
the same amount and was content. These experiences were an excellent example of this stage. It
would take an older child to realize it was the same amounts. Children in this experiment was going
by what they saw.
During stage three, or the concrete operational stage, children can now reason logically about
concrete events and classify objects into different sets. This stage consists of children who are
older in age. These children are between the ages of seven and eleven. Concrete operational
thinkers though cannot image the steps needed to complete a math equation. This is because it
would require a level of thinking that is too nonconcrete for this stage of development. An example
of this stage uses the same experiment in stage two with the liquids, which I believe is easy to
understand because it is already been experimented with just at a

Examples Of Heroism In Oskar Shindler
Oskar Schindler; An Act of Heroism
The expression from Zero to Hero is an informal saying that means to change an outcome, one s
situation, or oneself from being particularly unsuccessful, or unpopular to being specially
successful, positive, and fortunate, according to an online website dictionary. This expression fits
flawlessly into Oskar Schindler s situation since Oskar went from being a Nazi persecutor, drinker,
playboy, and a gambler to being known as a strong venturesome man that put his life in peril to
save hundreds of thousands of inoffensive jews.

started seeing the Jews not just as economic labor but as people and friends. He started giving

essential Jews to be relocated. Jews would beg for jobs on the streets. Oskar hired unskilled

Counterfactual Thinking and Experiences of Regret
Counterfactual thinking and experiences of regret Introduction Counterfactual thinking is the
cognitive process in which individuals can simulate alternative realities, to think about how things
could have turned out differently, with statements such as what if and if only . Counterfactuals can
be either upward, in which alternative realities are improved, or downward, in which alternative
realities are worsened. Reflecting on previous outcomes can make individuals experience regret
and this review will focus on the effects of counterfactual thinking and feelings of regret, which has

Pierro, Leder, Mannetti, Higgins, Kruglanski, amp; Aiello (2008) investigated the effects of
assessment and locomotion modes on engaging in counterfactual thinking and experiencing post
decisional regret. They predicted that people with a higher assessment mode would generate more
counterfactuals and experience more regret as assessment requires critical evaluation and
generating comparisons, they also predicted that people with a higher locomotion mode would
generate less counterfactuals as locomotion suggests an individual is less likely to pay attention to
attention and more likely to focus on moving from state to state without interruption. To test these
hypotheses participants were asked in two studies to imagine purchasing something but it has a
negative outcome and in another study they were asked to recall a time when they purchased
something and it had a negative outcome, regret was measured in each study. The results showed
that participants rated higher in the assessment mode generated more counterfactuals after a
negative outcome and experienced more regret, while participants rated higher in the locomotion

American Politics And The United States Congress Essay
Over the last several decades, American politics scholars have sought to understand the causes of
increasing partisanship and polarization in the United States Congress. Since the 1970s, the
ideological positions of the two major U.S. parties, the Democratic and Republican parties, have
widened (Abramowitz and Saunders, 2008; Levendusky; 2010). This ideological divide also
promotes a perception among the American public that Congress has increasingly become
ineffective and polarized to a point where political parties in government no longer compromise on
policy for the good of the country. In recent years, a new concern has arisen regarding unlimited
spending in electionsby outside groups permitted after the U.S. Supreme Court s decision in
Citizens United v. FEC (2010) and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals decision in SpeechNOW.org v.
FEC (2010) (Mann and Corroado, 2014). Both decisions allow unlimited independent expenditures
for political advertisements, ad buys, and other electioneering communications during elections.
Furthermore, there is an increase and heightened unease of outside undisclosed donors, or dark
money, who may have undue influences on political, electoral, and policy outcomes (Mann and
Corroado, 2014; Federal ElectionCommission). Thus, does independent campaign expenditures
spend have detrimental or undue influences on polarization and policy outcomes by promoting
more extreme ideological positions in congressional representation?

Poem And Similes And Annotation In Ode To Books
Ode to Books Annotation:
I used similes and metaphors such as open the cover like a curtain rising and darkness of night

much I enjoy books and how much of an escape they are for me. I also repeated the word Books

Managing Internal And External Warehouse Traffic Essay
Uline is a growing company, adding more than 3,000 SKUs per year to the catalog (31,000
SKUs total). As one of the company philosophies, all inventory items are stocked in all
warehouses at varied stock levels (10% of sales) even if ordered infrequently (Exhibit 1). To
accommodate new inventory and increased sales, each of the 11 branch locations (Exhibit 2)
expanded their campus (Main shipping warehousesand auxiliary buildings), sometimes exceeding 1
million ft2 by building or leasing new warehouses (Exhibit 3). It takes about two (2) years to build,
outfit and begin shipping from a warehouse around one (1) year for purchase and administrative
tasks (zoning, licensing, etc.) and one (1) year for construction, equipment installation, hiring, and
stocking inventory.
The increased inventories and warehouse expansions present three (3) major problems: logistics of
managing internal and external warehouse traffic, the ability to find qualified people to staff
warehouse operations, and excess inventory taking space in warehouses.
Two product categories have driven the space requirements: boxes (20% of Sales) and material
handling (22% of Sales). While only a small percentage of the catalog (1,400 SKUs), boxes
require more space than most other category products. Historically, smaller warehouses were
leased, purchased, or built as branch box depots to account for growth. Growth in the material
handling category (additional SKUs) increased sales overall, but requires

Heteronormativity is known as the belief that heterosexuality is the only normal and natural
expression of sexuality (Merriam Webster). While homosexuality is becoming more accepted in
today s society, heteronormativity is still a prominent issue in the media and life at home. There are
various opinions on heteronormativity, some believing that it is not an issue and others believing it

in the U.S, a solution to heteronormativity would benefit LGBTQ individuals who feel isolated
from the rest of society. The concept of heteronormativity is one that few people actually take the

Energy Balanced Balance
Watch your portion sizes! The amount you eat or drink plays an important role in your energy
balance strategy. You may be eating more than you realize. Some common food portions can equal
the amount that is recommended for the whole day. For example, one bagel may weigh up to 5
ounces, which equals the entire day s allotment of grains for someone on a 1600 calorie
MyPyramid Plan.
A good way to see how big your portions really are is to measure the size of bowls, glasses, cups,
and plates you usually use. This can help you choose sensible portions. To see what 1 cup, ВЅ cup,

The Effect Of Arthropods On Our Earth
Introduction
Arthropods are fundamental animals to life on earth. For example, many of these arthropods
help plants pollinate. Others can carry diseases from host to host, but their success story is due
to how long they have been present on earth. This has led the high diversity within the phylum
Arthropoda, with more than ten million different species, making up more than eighty percent
of the organisms in kingdom Animalia. This only includes classified species; it is believed
millions of other species exists, but have not been discovered. These arthropods can be found in
various places; for example most are terrestrial and others are aquatic (Hickman and Roberts,
1994) . Evolution has helped them to conquer the skies as well. A reason as to why it is believed
unclassified species exist is because they may live in remote areas, such as deep in a tropical
rainforests.
The arthropods share many characteristics facilitating their mass divergence. First of all they are
part of kingdom Animalia; characteristics that make an arthropod an animal consist of being
multicellular organism lacking cell walls. Their bodies consist of true tissue for sensory and
movement, which aids in activities such as finding food and finding a mate. Arthropods bodies
have three germ layers, or triploblastic. These germ layers consist of an endoderm, mesoderm, and
an ectoderm. The endoderm develops into the digestive organs; the ectoderm develops into
muscular tissue, and the ectoderm into the

Emotional Analysis Of The Old Spice Scent Vacation...
We all know a person who looks very confident and put together on the outside, but a
conversation with them reveals that much is lacking in their personality. Similarly, commercials
can appear fun or exciting, but upon further inspection it is greatly lacking in depth. Because of
this, creating commercials is a balance between providing information and keeping the viewers
engaged. The process isn t simply writing a script containing only style and no substance, or one
with only substance and no style. With the former, a commercial could capture the audience s
attention, but provides no supporting information; the latter, provides an excessive amount of
information, but does not seize the viewers. Creating commercials pines for the utmost balance;
if the balance is off by a fraction, it could mean the difference between a million dollars or zero.
The Old Spice Scent Vacation commercial sits atop the pinnacle of this balance. It was made to
advertise their new collection of scents ranging from the scenic beaches of Fiji to the snowy peak
of Denali (Mt. McKinley). The commercial illustrates this balance through the use of emotional
appeals, imagery, and appeals to authority and credibility to convince people of the outlandish
benefits of switching to Old Spice, in terms of confidence and sexual appeal.

William Glasser presents many intriguing ideas toward education in his article
The Quality School Curriculum . Dr.Glasser proposes that to produce better educated students,
schools must utilize a Quality curriculum which makes students active participants in the learning
process.
Dr.Glasser begins by arguing the various problems existing in today s curriculum. He argues that
schools do not need more coercion from upper level management but focus on the subpar
curriculum. The current curriculums being applied to today s educators are inadequate and
encourage more memorization than application. Grades, Glasser argues, dissipates coercion by
students working less and rebellion. The negative responses received from students are ... Show

Suggesting that grammar skills should be enforced at an early age, Dr.Glasser argues

(693). Technology impacts the Quality curriculum through various ways. Students should be
entitled to use technology in the application of their knowledge through calculators for mathematics
and computers for word processing skills. Testing is a vital part in the demonstrating of applicable
skills on a small scale. Dr.Glasser suggests the use of open note, and open book tests students would
be given questions to explain how something works, instead of selecting an answer. By using these
descriptive and application questions, the student would use critical thinking skills to explain the
ideas and information presented to them. The students, having to explain in detail about the
questions presented, would learn the material and be prepared for standardized testing.
Dr.Glasser sums up his journal with the goals and outcomes for The Quality School Curriculum .
With the use of this curriculum, students would become contributing members of society and
enthusiastic towards education. Dr.Glasser also suggests the idea of optional retests for students to
improve their grade. He also suggests having tests available before the information is taught.

My Name is Dr. Dan Siegel. I attended Harvard Medical School and later on traveled to UCLA to
finish my postgraduate medical work. While attending I specialized in pediatrics, child,
adolescent, teen, and adult psychiatry. I currently reside in southern California with my family
and am a clinical psychiatry professor at UCLA School of Medicine. I pioneered a new field
known as interpersonal neurobiology. Within this field I delve into different aspects of science,
such as biology, physics, linguistics, and psychologyto understand what is needed to maximize a
healthy mind. Through this work I have gone on to define mental health and even the mind itself.
My theory poses the idea that, we are who we are because of the relationships we... Show more

My work has taken me all over the world. I have lectured in front of His Holiness the Dalia Lama,
Pope John II, the King of Thailand, Google University, and London s Royal Society of Arts. I am
the author of numerous books, articles, and text, including, The Developing Mind: How
Relationships and the Brain Interact to Shape Who We Are (Guilford, 1999), in which I first
introduced the world to my field of interpersonal neurobiology. This books has since gone on to
be applied by different organizations across the globe, such as the U.S Department of Justice,
The Vatican s Pontifical Council for the Family, as well as Microsoft and Google. More
recently, I have published books focusing on parent child relationships and Mindsight. I currently
continue to travel and lecture at symposiums and conferences all over the world. I love
introducing my field to people in hopes that it will have as wonderful impact and affect on their
life as I know it will. My theory behind interpersonal neurobiology refutes the once popular
scientific idea that the brain stops neurological growth as early as young adulthood. It instead
poses the belief that the brain is continuously growing and forming new neurons and links. From
this I looked into how these new neurological links affect the mind and body, both negatively and
positively so that clinicians are more aware of how to treat patients and help them gain a healthier
more positive well being. One of the

Government Regulation Of Food Essay
It is in the 21st century in the United States of America, as the amount of the year increase, such
does the obesity at an alarming rate. But it is not always the people s fault. In fact earlier this
century, before government regulation stepped in, consumers had no idea if one item was more
fattening than the other. But the men and women who represent the country want to help the
people by having the foodon menus healthier for everyone. Now they have the best intentions for
the citizens of our country and they are trying to slim down on this thick epidemic. One may agree
with the government regulating our food because it will help the restaurants serve healthier food
choices, it will reduce obesity, and the public will be more aware of what they consume.
Would it be great if you eat out with your family and eat healthy, yet tasteful, foods. Well that is
the government s intention, to put a limit on what harmful stuff the people at the restaurant can
add to their foods. Ever since Michael Bloomberg took office in New York City, he has banned all
use of trans fat in restaurant use. Not only that, but he also banned smoking in public on street
corners across New York City, creating an improved environment to dine at. Recently he he has
pushed hospitals to avoid feeding artificial baby formula locked up and ... Show more content on

Now I am not saying this does not come with the cons. Such as spending funds for this campaign
other than other pressing issues, or taking away the choice if Americans want to have the
portions if they want to. Now we should be optimistic for both sides, we should make our own
choices, but also take care of ourselves and our bodies. Obesity is an issue that needs to be
addressed, and hopefully will be resolved in the next coming

Why Facebook Is The World s Most Influential Source Of News
Analyse how the composer of this text uses persuasive language and form (WHAT DOES THIS
MEAN?) to argue a perspective on the role of Facebook in presenting news. Use evidence form the
text to support your answer
Facebook is a worldwide acknowledged social media service, that because of its sheer size, it
possesses the ultimate power to influence and potentially morph its user s perspectives, by simply
exposing them to biased articles, headlines and even messages, motivating them to act on what they
are displayed with. Author, Farhad Manjoo of the deprecatory article Facebook s bias is built in and
worth watching , expresses his fear of Facebook s ability to control the news; Facebook is the
world s most influential source of news . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The metaphor in this phrase, bluntly illustrates the author s perspective on how Facebook has the
level of power and respect, like a mother will have over her children, reiterating the service s
capability in morphing the perspectives of its users, by controlling what news is being displayed
to them. Hence Manjoo s perspective on the increasingly dangerous role Facebook has when
presenting news, as by doing so the service possesses the ultimate power to shape the thoughts of its
users.
Explain how this text engages audiences in presenting an argument on the impact of context on
social media.
In the interview conducted primarily by Peter Lloyd, there are numerous techniques used that
instantly clutch the audience s attention and in doing so provide an argument on how one s context,
specifically Donald Trump s has influenced his use of social media platforms such as Facebook,
Twitter and even Snapchat . Donald trump, is a billionaire business magnate who uses technology
quite heavily in his line of work. Thusly, because of his vocational context, Trump is accustomed
to be a user technology, accounting for his paramount use of social media services for the benefit
of his political poll positioning; despite his inferior knowledge and experience in Political science;
Could Donald Trump actually do this? The rhetorical question instantly clutches the audience s
attention, and poses them with the idea that Donald Trump has a

Baron Monstesquieu and His Idea of the Separation of...
Baron Monstesquieu and His Idea of the Separation of Powers The separation of powers,
originally established by Baron Montesquieu in De l Esprit des Lois (1748) can be seen as an
integral part of any constitution. Montesquieu voiced the necessity for a separation of the primary
three bodies: the executive, the legislature and the judiciary.
In Lord Woolf s statement: The separation of powershas never been part of the framework of our
unwritten Constitution. He is clearly stating that he believes that under the constitution of the
United Kingdom there are important departures from the classic doctrine, and the separation of
powers has never been a basis on which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This of course is a clear breach of Montesquieu s doctrine.
This led Lord Hailsham to refer to the arrangement (A Government with a majority) as an elective
dictatorship . However, although it is a clear breach, it may be noted that out of 659 MP s only
approximately 100 are Cabinet Ministers, so the Government are outnumbered in any case.
To a large extent, the judiciary form a separate body from both the executive and the legislature. It
has been said, that as the United Kingdom has an unwritten Constitution we have a need for trust
and accountability in our public bodies and another need to enhance the credibility and
effectiveness of our public institutions. This is further recognized by Lord Steyn: Central to the
Rule of Law in a modern democratic society is the principle that the judiciary must be, and must be
seen to be, independent of the executive. However, although this has been firmly established,
judges are appointed by Her Majesty after consultation with the

Sparta Strengths And Weaknesses
Education in Sparta: Did the Strengths Outweigh the Weaknesses?
Would you like to be neglected just because you weren t strong? That is what a Spartan kid would
undergo. Sparta is a small city state located in Peloponnese, Greece. The Spartan civilization was
established in 900 BCE Despite its early foundation, it lived fairly peacefully until the Persians and
the Athenians came along and tried to invade Sparta. Sparta had to endure the assaults, and they had
to fight to survive. Due to this, the education was based on the body strength and physical
toughness. Until the fall of the empire, the education was essentially the same. Questioning if the
strengths outweighed the weaknesses seems like a fair question to ask. After evaluating both ...

High levels of physical fitness was desired even before a child is born. Several Spartan kids get
neglected and ignored if they do not meet the strength and physical requirements under the Agoge
s training. Young women are often trained at wrestling, physical strength, and running so that their
children will grow to become strong as well. If the child was male, the child was taken away from
his parents at the astonishing age of seven to be controlled and trained by the government s agoge.
Any sort of footwear wasn t allowed, nor extra clothing. They were given insubstantial food to show
them how it is to go on with an empty stomach. Once the children left the agoge, most of them went
on to be great soldiers in the army forces. The men who have the strength and ability to, go forward
to expand their specialization in strength and got on to the army. The stress that the Spartan
government puts onto physical strength is stunning. It takes 14 long and exhausting years to
complete the training in order to become a soldier. Most people volunteered at the ages of seven
which was the starting, until twenty one. At the early time when the education system switched to
focus on the body, the world, not only Sparta, was getting attacks and invasions from outsiders and
the physical educational system was surely

  • 2. Creole Hybridity in Literature Jamaican patois is not an official language, which is the same for most if not all languages are not, although recently, there are some creole dictionaries and Haitian Creole is being taught in schools. People tend to have a negative perception of a creole and thus, the people who speak and chose to write in this creole languageare often lumped into a box. There is a stigma attached to it, and people often say that it is the language of the poor lower class of the country. Growing up in St. Lucia, I saw how this is true, people are often embarrassed by their parent who spoke creole, or they as children where forbidden to speak creole as to avoid being stereotyped. The language expresses the history of the Caribbeanand the hybridity that emerges through language. In the diaspora, people depend on creating a space of home in the host country and language is an important part of this space. The connection immigrants feel when they come into contact with literature that features a language of their native homeland offers them their own space in the literary world, and a way for their stories to be told. The writers and people who use creole are confirming their identities as a merger of multiple influences. They use the language despite the stigma and fight to maintain the culture by doing so language is part of one s identity. • 4. Mary Wollstonecraft And Karl Marx The work of a founding mother of feminism and the work of a philosopher who was a proponent for the working class movement and an advocate for communism may seem to be too different to have overarching themes within them, but Mary Wollstonecraft and Karl Marx have many topics that can be compared to each other. Though their type of work and topics of discussion do differ to a great extent, their works both focus on the components of progress, how progress occurs, and what the final outcome will be. These influential proponents of feminism and communism, Wollstonecraft and Marx, are both attempting to use their works to aid in the understanding of what each of their goals were and how society is able to achieve them. Wollstonecraft was the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marx was a big proponent for the working class movement and the equality in terms of property. To him, the issue that is most important to conquer is the issue of the estrangement and alienation of man, where man himself is the alien power over man more specifically, it is workers who are being estranged (Marx 1988, 79). Consequences of this estrangement can be seen with private property, because although it seems to be the root of the problem, private property is actually the consequence of alienated labor , explaining why capitalism is a horror to him (Marx 1988, 81). It may be thought that an easy way to give workers equality would be to pay them equal wages, but this is yet another estrangement of labor (Marx 1988, 82). Progress, to Marx, would need to consist of a way to diminish the root of the problem estrangement of the worker. This would consist of emancipation of the workers because the emancipation of the workers would have a large ripple effect, and result in the universal human emancipation (Marx 1988, 82). As it has been addressed multiple times, the estrangement of the worker is the root of the problem, and a step towards progress would need to consist of the workers being emancipated so they are no longer alienated and forced to labor while getting nothing but monetary payment for their labor. The alienation of workers furthers the issue by leading a society towards private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hall, the group leader decided that he would like the climbers to stay at camp one for two nights, camp two for one night, then after that, go back to the base camp. The next morning they left for camp two, which is about four miles above where they were at camp one. On his way up, Krakauer sees a dead body. The dead body stuns him for a little while but then he continues on up the mountain towards camp two. The group makes it up to base two. The altitude greatly affected Krakauer he mentioned how all that he could do was rest in his tent with his head in his hands. The next day, after feeling a little nit better, climbs a little higher than camp two to work more on his acclimatization. While on his climb he comes across another dead body but this one does not affect him as greatly as the previous one. Jon s group began to climb; the wind chill was forty degrees below zero. Jon, before he left, expected the sun to heat him up so he underdressed and then during the hike, became too cold to continue as his hands and feet were completely numb. • 6. Should Students Be Allowed To Wear Hats In School Research We should wear hats Have you ever woke up and just decided that you don t wanna get ready or do your hair for school? Wouldn t it just be easier to throw on a hat and go. The main reason that they don t let us wear hats already in school is because of the kids being immature while wearing hats. That observation is based off the one day per year that they encourage us to wear crazy hats and then it gets out of hand. Now if they would allow us to wear normal ballcaps any day of the week, it would more than likely be fine. Although hats can be distracting, students should be allowed to wear hats in school because they allow you to express yourself, saves you time getting ready, and it protects your hair from the weather. Although, these life changing events do not happen often, they happen to everyone. I have had a few major, life changing occurrences in my lifetime, some are good and some are not so good. One of them that stands out the most to me and has impacted me the greatest is something everyone experiences at some point in their lives. For me, it was on October 20th, 2015, when I was 13 years old, the day my first dog Lucky died. Lucky was a little Jack Russell Terrier that my mom and dad had bought when he was only a few months old. They had adopted him in Belgium, about a year before I was born. Lucky had been... She told me that the vet said Lucky had kidney disease and all they could do is give him pain medicine and try to keep him alive until that weekend when my dad got home on Friday. My first reaction was denial. All I could think was, surely a dog that I had loved so much all my life could not die. I refused to believe the truth, I spent the entire evening looking up kidney disease, trying to find a solution that did not exist. I refused to eat or leave Lucky s side. I knew his health had been declining, but I kept telling myself Lucky will get better. The issue was, I was only denying the inevitable. The next day was the hardest of my life. At school, I could not focus, all I could do was think about Lucky. That night, I had to cheer at a game about an hour away. At first I was not sure if I wanted to go, but my friends convinced me it would be good to get my mind of Lucky for a little bit. Around the middle of the first quarter I saw my little brother show up with one of his friends. I immediately knew something was very wrong, why would my brother come to an away game, especially so far away without my mom, I knew my mom did not have anything going on that night. Somehow I ... Being an Atheist, I ve had hundreds of arguments with Christians about Jesus and religion in general. No matter what evidence I provided, the Christian always seemed to bypass it with the Personal relationship cop out. They would tell me they don t practice religion, and that they have a personal relationship with Jesus. They would insist that I take five minutes of my time at night and call on Jesus while I m all alone. Christians believed that Jesus would answer me, and my pathetic life will never be the same. It dawned on me that they were merely regurgitating what was taught to them by others. That the Christian didn t really have a personal relationship with Jesus, but a personal relationship with themselves. Being frustrated with the fact that Christians can actually get away with not providing substantial evidence, I decided to research the origin of the personal relationship copout. Who created the concept of a personal relationship? Is the personal relationship copout in the bible? How old is the concept of a personal relationship? These are the questions that turned on the light bulb in my head. I just had to research and find out the answers, so here it is. In the 1200s, St. Gertrude wrote a prayer: let my heart be so united with Thine, that our wills may be one, and mine in all things be conformed to Thine. Sustainable Fashion Sustainable Fashion: A Growing Need For Eco Friendly Clothing Abstract Every consumer is probably aware that the products they purchase have some kind of effect on the environment. However, the average person does not know that the textile and clothing manufacturing industry has one of the greatest. Sustainable fashion is part of a growing design philosophy which some brands and designers are taking into consideration. The goal of this trend is to create textiles and garments in terms of an environmental responsibility. As of right now only a small percentage of wool is produced organically, but the interest is strongly growing. Another great concern of wool manufacturing is the intensive use of water, energy and chemicals used to clean the greasy wool fiber. Wool required hot water to process and the cleaning produces a grease sludge that contains a high pollution index. An organic solvent would be a more appropriate approach in cleaning raw wool because it can be reclaimed and recycled (Kadolph, 2010). Artificial, manmade fibers also take on toll on the environment. Synthetics like nylon and polyester are produced from petrochemicals and are non biodegradable. Petroleum based products are very detrimental to the environment. The production of nylon creates nitrous oxide which is a greenhouse gas that is 310 times more potent then carbon dioxide (Challa, 2012). The production of these synthetics also uses vast amounts of water and energy. Rayon is an artificial fiber made from wood pulp, which may seem more environmentally friendly, but still has negative effect on the environment. Even though rayon is created from a natural substance, it is still treated with harmful chemicals such as caustic soda and sulfuric acid. The impact of textiles on the environment does not stop after production. Two thirds of a garments carbon footprint occurs after it is purchased (Challa, 2012). We had to land the life flight because the accident was so awful. I was around fourteen years old and I never saw anyone pass away before. The ambulance heaved up, and the crew of the helicopter came running over. The guy was a bloody chaos, and he was having a rigid time staying alive. Piaget’S Cognitive Developmental Theory States That Children Piaget s Cognitive Developmental Theory states that children go through four stages of cognitive development as they actively construct their understanding of the world. Stage one of this theory, or the sensorimotor stage, infants of the age newborn through two years construct an understanding of the world by sensory skills (hearing and seeing) with physical actions. This for example could be a simple game of peak a boo. Skye, the infant in the video clip, giggles at his mother playing the game. This is because one row was longer than the other. The final experiment consisted of Graham crackers. The young girl was handed one cracker while the adult had two. The girl did not think it was very fair for the adult to have more. When her cracker was cut in half, she instantly believed she had the same amount and was content. These experiences were an excellent example of this stage. It would take an older child to realize it was the same amounts. Children in this experiment was going by what they saw. During stage three, or the concrete operational stage, children can now reason logically about concrete events and classify objects into different sets. This stage consists of children who are older in age. These children are between the ages of seven and eleven. Concrete operational thinkers though cannot image the steps needed to complete a math equation. This is because it would require a level of thinking that is too nonconcrete for this stage of development. • 27. American Politics And The United States Congress Essay Over the last several decades, American politics scholars have sought to understand the causes of increasing partisanship and polarization in the United States Congress. Since the 1970s, the ideological positions of the two major U.S. parties, the Democratic and Republican parties, have widened (Abramowitz and Saunders, 2008; Levendusky; 2010). This ideological divide also promotes a perception among the American public that Congress has increasingly become ineffective and polarized to a point where political parties in government no longer compromise on policy for the good of the country. In recent years, a new concern has arisen regarding unlimited spending in electionsby outside groups permitted after the U.S. Supreme Court s decision in Citizens United v. FEC (2010) and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals decision in SpeechNOW.org v. FEC (2010) (Mann and Corroado, 2014). Both decisions allow unlimited independent expenditures for political advertisements, ad buys, and other electioneering communications during elections. Furthermore, there is an increase and heightened unease of outside undisclosed donors, or dark money, who may have undue influences on political, electoral, and policy outcomes (Mann and Corroado, 2014; Federal ElectionCommission). Thus, does independent campaign expenditures spend have detrimental or undue influences on polarization and policy outcomes by promoting more extreme ideological positions in congressional representation? ... As one of the company philosophies, all inventory items are stocked in all warehouses at varied stock levels (10% of sales) even if ordered infrequently (Exhibit 1). To accommodate new inventory and increased sales, each of the 11 branch locations (Exhibit 2) expanded their campus (Main shipping warehousesand auxiliary buildings), sometimes exceeding 1 million ft2 by building or leasing new warehouses (Exhibit 3). It takes about two (2) years to build, outfit and begin shipping from a warehouse around one (1) year for purchase and administrative tasks (zoning, licensing, etc.) and one (1) year for construction, equipment installation, hiring, and stocking inventory. The increased inventories and warehouse expansions present three (3) major problems: logistics of managing internal and external warehouse traffic, the ability to find qualified people to staff warehouse operations, and excess inventory taking space in warehouses. Two product categories have driven the space requirements: boxes (20% of Sales) and material handling (22% of Sales). While only a small percentage of the catalog (1,400 SKUs), boxes require more space than most other category products. Others can carry diseases from host to host, but their success story is due to how long they have been present on earth. This has led the high diversity within the phylum Arthropoda, with more than ten million different species, making up more than eighty percent of the organisms in kingdom Animalia. This only includes classified species; it is believed millions of other species exists, but have not been discovered. These arthropods can be found in various places; for example most are terrestrial and others are aquatic (Hickman and Roberts, 1994) . Evolution has helped them to conquer the skies as well. A reason as to why it is believed unclassified species exist is because they may live in remote areas, such as deep in a tropical rainforests. The arthropods share many characteristics facilitating their mass divergence. First of all they are part of kingdom Animalia; characteristics that make an arthropod an animal consist of being multicellular organism lacking cell walls. Their bodies consist of true tissue for sensory and movement, which aids in activities such as finding food and finding a mate. Arthropods bodies have three germ layers, or triploblastic. We all know a person who looks very confident and put together on the outside, but a conversation with them reveals that much is lacking in their personality. Similarly, commercials can appear fun or exciting, but upon further inspection it is greatly lacking in depth. Because of this, creating commercials is a balance between providing information and keeping the viewers engaged. The process isn t simply writing a script containing only style and no substance, or one with only substance and no style. With the former, a commercial could capture the audience s attention, but provides no supporting information; the latter, provides an excessive amount of information, but does not seize the viewers. Creating commercials pines for the utmost balance; if the balance is off by a fraction, it could mean the difference between a million dollars or zero. The Old Spice Scent Vacation commercial sits atop the pinnacle of this balance. It was made to advertise their new collection of scents ranging from the scenic beaches of Fiji to the snowy peak of Denali (Mt. McKinley). The commercial illustrates this balance through the use of emotional appeals, imagery, and appeals to authority and credibility to convince people of the outlandish benefits of switching to Old Spice, in terms of confidence and sexual appeal. But the men and women who represent the country want to help the people by having the foodon menus healthier for everyone. Now they have the best intentions for the citizens of our country and they are trying to slim down on this thick epidemic. One may agree with the government regulating our food because it will help the restaurants serve healthier food choices, it will reduce obesity, and the public will be more aware of what they consume. Would it be great if you eat out with your family and eat healthy, yet tasteful, foods. Well that is the government s intention, to put a limit on what harmful stuff the people at the restaurant can add to their foods. Ever since Michael Bloomberg took office in New York City, he has banned all use of trans fat in restaurant use. Not only that, but he also banned smoking in public on street corners across New York City, creating an improved environment to dine at. Recently he he has pushed hospitals to avoid feeding artificial baby formula locked up and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now I am not saying this does not come with the cons. Such as spending funds for this campaign other than other pressing issues, or taking away the choice if Americans want to have the portions if they want to. Now we should be optimistic for both sides, we should make our own choices, but also take care of ourselves and our bodies. Baron Monstesquieu and His Idea of the Separation of Powers The separation of powers, originally established by Baron Montesquieu in De l Esprit des Lois (1748) can be seen as an integral part of any constitution. Montesquieu voiced the necessity for a separation of the primary three bodies: the executive, the legislature and the judiciary. In Lord Woolf s statement: The separation of powershas never been part of the framework of our unwritten Constitution. This led Lord Hailsham to refer to the arrangement (A Government with a majority) as an elective dictatorship . However, although it is a clear breach, it may be noted that out of 659 MP s only approximately 100 are Cabinet Ministers, so the Government are outnumbered in any case. To a large extent, the judiciary form a separate body from both the executive and the legislature. It has been said, that as the United Kingdom has an unwritten Constitution we have a need for trust and accountability in our public bodies and another need to enhance the credibility and effectiveness of our public institutions. This is further recognized by Lord Steyn: Central to the Rule of Law in a modern democratic society is the principle that the judiciary must be, and must be seen to be, independent of the executive.
