Essay On My Class
Crafting an essay on the topic "Essay On My Class" may initially seem like a straightforward
task, as it revolves around a familiar subject—the class. However, the challenge lies in making
it unique, engaging, and reflective of personal experiences. The difficulty arises from the need to
balance objectivity and subjectivity, capturing the essence of the class without drifting into mere
enumeration.
One must navigate through the intricate process of introspection, recalling significant moments,
relationships with classmates, and the overall impact of the class on personal and academic
growth. The struggle intensifies when attempting to strike a balance between individual
experiences and the collective identity of the class. Ensuring that the essay resonates with
readers, conveying a sense of connection and shared experiences, adds another layer of
complexity.
Moreover, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic observations. It requires a creative
touch to transform seemingly mundane class activities into compelling narratives that captivate
the reader's attention. Selecting the right anecdotes, quotes, or reflections to highlight can be a
daunting task, requiring careful consideration of the essay's tone and purpose.
Additionally, one must be mindful of the structure and flow of the essay. Finding the right
sequence of events or ideas to create a coherent and engaging narrative can be a formidable task.
It's essential to avoid repetition and maintain a cohesive thread throughout the essay to keep the
reader immersed in the story.
In essence, writing an essay on the topic "Essay On My Class" demands a delicate balance of
personal reflection, creativity, and effective storytelling. It requires the writer to delve into their
memories, extract meaningful moments, and present them in a way that not only paints a vivid
picture of the class but also resonates with a broader audience.
As a final note, if navigating through the intricacies of such an essay proves challenging, it's

Maria Mitchell Essay
This paper will discuss the life of Maria Mitchell and how she became the first
woman astronomer in the United States. It will tell of where she grew up. How she
climbed the ranks to achieve her goals and how she came into discovering her true
passion of astronomy. By describing the events that made this courageous woman, we
can see clearly how she set an example for her gender in the Nineteenth century.
Women have always been at the forefronts of science, even though they have not
always taken the credit for it. One of the defining marks of humanity is our ability to

She had memorized the sky and was sure of her observation. (Gromley p.55) This
was the great discovery that her constant vigilance brought into the open, as she saw a
comet of unknown origin. It occurred to her that this might be a comet. Maria
recorded the presumed comet s coordinates. The next night the star moved again.
This time she was sure it was a comet. Her father wrote to Professor William Bond
at the Harvard University observatory about Maria s discovery. Professor Bond
submitted Maria s name to the king of Denmark who had offered a gold medal to a
person who discovers a comet seen only through a telescope. Another person,
Father Francesco de Vico of Rome discovered the same comet two days later
(Mitchell p.105) than Maria Mitchell and the decision was made to award him the
prize before news of Maria s earlier discovery arrived in Europe. After some
negotiations Maria Mitchell was awarded the medal for this discovery a year later.
The comet was named Miss Mitchell s Comet.
She continued working as a librarian, but now she was also receiving letters of
congratulations from scientists and tourists were coming to take a look at the woman
astronomer. In 1848 the American Academy of Arts and Sciences voted her the first
woman member. The Association for the Advancement of Science did the same in
1850. In 1849 she was offered a job by the U.S. Nautical Almanac Office as a

Essay on The Truth about Cannibalism
The Truth about Cannibalism
Typical Western thought directs people to examine the practices of cannibalism as
savage and primitive. More often than not, this type of association exists because the
people viewing the action are frightened and confused by that which they do not
understand. In fact, some would even claim that, cannibalism is merely a product of
European imagination (Barker, 2), thereby completely denying its existence. The
belief that cannibalism goes against human instinct , as seen in many literary works
including Tarzan, reduces those who practice it to being inhuman. (Barker, 1)
However, scientific findings demonstrate that those who practice cannibalism are still
human despite their difference in beliefs; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, the Azande were even more feared, however, because they attacked
other tribes not only to eat some of the captured, but also to sell others as slave trade.
The Hua and Gimi tribes of New Guinea differ greatly in theoretical beliefs from
the Fang and Azande. In the Hua tribe, the ultimate reality is not society but the
mysteries of the body. (Sanday, 60) The Hua practice cannibalism because they find
the human body to be sacred, and mortuary cannibalism is necessary to bring out all
that is sacred in the body. Nu is the label the tribe uses for the parts of the body that
explain growth and aging, death and illness, the contrast of male and female. Through
this Nu the tribe attempts to explain, if not the whole world, then at least the
biological and social aspects of life. (Sanday, 63). The Gimi tribe uses cannibalism to
maintain a maternal connection of mother and son. Only women actually eat human
flesh because Gimi males are, born, loved, buried, bewailed, eaten, and reborn
through their mother. (Sanday, 73) Cannibalism plays a key role in society to
maintain growth and development of the men and women through the mortuary
cannibalism by the mother of the son. While the mother eats the son, the males of the
society eat the corresponding parts of a pig to advance their fallen

Physical literacy is the way to create active adults.

Physically literate children are more likely to be physically active later in life. The
reasons for this are numerous for example someone who is confident in movement is
more likely to express themselves physically, join in extracurriculars such as team

each school year to assess each student as they come in and monitor their progress

America Becoming a Godless Culture Essay
America Becoming a Godless Culture
Many people believe the United States is becoming a Godless culture. The argument
is that we are losing our moral values, because religion is not an important part of
our life anymore. This is the view of most Fundamentalist Christians and right wing
believers. I vehemently disagree with this argument. I say this because there are
many ways to practice religion. We have many ethnic populations in our country
with many different religions. Because of this, there are many beliefs that differ
from the Christian based or religions of only one god. Therefore, our country is not
becoming Godless, there are many ways to practice one s faith. Many people believe

HIV is a disease to rid our population of the undesirables. It is our sinful ways and
God is striking down at us. We, the people who do not believe in Jesus Christ as our
savior, are even going to be branded after the world ends with the fiery Armageddon.
The fundamental Christians do not believe there is any other way to practice faith
and religion other than Christianity. I do not believe our country is becoming a
godless culture. One of the important aspects that are missing from the godless
culture theory is the fact that we have in our country many different religions that are
being practiced everyday. People who migrate to this country bring their own religion.
Yes, they want to assimilate into our country, but they shouldn t have to become
clones of the white establishment. Whether we migrate here or not many people
practice Buddhism, spirituality, polytheism (more than one God) or pantheism (God
is in everything including nature). I believe people who condemn us to be a godless
culture are actually afraid of differences. Differences of color, clothing, style, music,
food and faith. I believe being different and having many cultures in our country
makes us stronger in tolerance and acceptance of all human beings. Isn t this what
God preaches in the bible. It is quite interesting to note that the divorce rate is higher
in the bible belt states, southern states, than other states, according to the San
Francisco Chronicle.

people sometimes feel pressure to dance in ways that are otherwise associated with

Dancing: The Pleasure, Power, and Art of Movement (Jonas 2003), peaked interest in
me when thinking of all the various danceforms that we have talked of in class and
even those outside of class. One in particular that has interested me the most is swing
dance. With family member involvement in the past and having multiple friends take
part in the Swing Dance Club here on the Wayne State University Campus for
pleasure, enjoyment and social interaction has made me want to go more in depth
about it. With the help from academic sources and knowledge from class lectures I
will be researching the history of swing dancing, the forms of swing dancing, and
what gender roles take place within these movements. According to The Edinburgh
University Swing Dance Society of the Edinburgh University Students Association,
Swing dancing is a style of dance that was originated from Harlem, New York with
Afro American Roots. Although originating with Afro American Roots, I do know
that many other cultures and races take part in this form of social dance, and it is not
segregated to one race specifically. When in the act of this dance, one should feel as
if they are swinging. Swing Dancing developed as a swing style from jazz music

The Boeing 7e7
Objectives
The objectives of The Boeing 7E7 case study is to seek the answer for the project
question.
Why is Boeing contemplating the launch of the 7E7 project? Is this the good time
to do so? How would we know if the 7E7 project will create value? How to estimate
the WACC?
Is there anything else the board of directors should consider in assessing the
financial appeal of this project? Why might the board vote yes on the 7E7, when the
cost of capital estimate is greater than the IRR? Why might the board vote no if the
cost of capital is less than the IRR?
What should the board do?

Airbus, the market leader, produced planes to serve the short, medium and extended
range routes. Analysts believe that Airbus seemed to be more bullish on the future of
the large aircraft market leaving Boeing an opportunity to gain back market share in
the mid size market, assuming that Airbus did not pursue the mid range segment
with a competing product. Boeing had a drop in commercial airplanes delivered
from 527 in 2001 to 381 in 2002 and needed this project to keep them in the hunt with
Airbus.
The board will also have to consider the decades it may take to recoup the costs of
starting this project. Development costs in the airline industry are substantial
leading to many years of negative cash flows. The introduction of a new plane is a
make or break activity for the producers and requires huge financing capabilities.
The development costs and per copy costs were difficult to predict, and Boeing also
faced engineering uncertainty with the project. The success of the project depends
heavily on Boeing s ability to keep the production costs low and actually deliver a
more efficient aircraft than the competition.
Yes this is the good time for Boeing to launch their new aircraft. At this time, the price
of raw materials are very cheap caused by unexpected disasters. Although there s no
demand at this moment, but they can still continue making the aircraft. The further
information will describe how Boeing can continue

The Story Of My Search
Lilly Bjorkquist
The Story of My Search It s no secret that the economy has not been the best in the
past five or so years, and a lot of schools have taken the hardest hit from that. Public
schools have had to cut many different programs and areas of study because it is
simply just too expensive to teach all of them and provide the correct materials for
the students. This is causing the quality of students education to go down, and they
aren t receiving all of the benefits that they should be. The education that a student
receives starting in elementary school and all the way up into high schools sets
them up for how they will do in college, and that will determine how they are going
to live the rest of their lives. Since my future ... Show more content on

Schools also cut sports, extra circular activities, and other events that make school
fun for the students. I want to see how they deal with these cuts but yet still give
the students the proper education. Overall, I just want to find out how schools
make up for the classes that are taken out of the schools, and what they think is the
best way to deal with this situation. My search had its good and bad points, but over
all it was pretty successful and took me about two weeks to complete. I found out a
lot of things that I didn t know, but some of the things were obvious from attending a
public high school. At some points it was difficult to find information to back up
what I wanted to explain, but for the most part I had a handful of good and credible
sources to use. I used a few websites that were from major new sites, a former
teacher, and school websites themselves. I got the majority of my information
from the news sites, and that was very interesting because the different states
showed different ways that they cut programs and how it differed depending on
the school and the area. It also showed how some of them were similar and some of
the cuts were placed in the same areas but not always. Another thing that I did was
to interview one of my former teachers to see what her feelings where on the
budgets cuts and how it directly effected her. It was good to hear some feedback
from someone who was experiencing the cuts first
The Eleusinian Mysteries Of Ancient Greece
The Eleusinian Mysteries
Religion is interwoven in the social, cultural and economic life of all civilisations
and Ancient Greece was no exception. Typically, most religion in Ancient Greece was
civic in nature, however, in the fifth century B.C., mystery religions began to gain
popularity. Shrouded in secrecy, the mystery religions provided a more personal
approach to religion, fascinating initiates and capturing the imagination of the Greek
populace. The most popular of these mystery cults was the cult of Demeter, a
veneration established in Eleusis around 1500 B.C. The Eleusinian mysteries were the
earliest and most celebrated mysteries in classical antiquity (Karoglou, 2013). These,
through their appeal to initiates, played a pivotal ... Show more content on

The Homeric Hymn to Demeter, coupled with the surviving evidence, allows
modern historians to paint a consistent portrait of the Eleusinian mysteries. The
Hymn to Demeter was composed in Attica no later than the 7th century B.C. and
served for centuries thereafter as the canonical hymn of the Eleusinian Mysteries
(Nilsson, 2016). The anonymously transcribed source tells the tale of Persephone s
abduction by Hades, God of the underworld (Sailors, 2007). The Hymn reveals the
significance of seasonal elements within the Mystery cult. The fact that the
Persephone, upon negotiation with Hades, dwells two thirds of the year in the
upper world is manifestly connected to vegetation (Nilsson, 2016). This too is
connected to the annual festival which takes place in the middle of the Greek
month Boedromion (October), a winter month. In the 6th century B.C., Herodotus,
the father of Greek history, wrote: Every year the Athenians celebrate the festival
in honour of the Mother and the Maid, and anyone who wishes, from all of Athens
or elsewhere, may be initiated into the Mysteries (Keller, 2009). Therefore, it is
revealed that the great procession from Athens to Eleusis, along the sacred way, was
held in order to appease Demeter for a prosperous summer (Burkert, 1985). Except
for the date of this procession, little is known of the rites of
Rhetorical Analysis Of Liza Featherstone s Article
Rhetorical analyses of What s a girl to read?
In her article What s A Girl To Read? Liza Featherstone takes up the subject of teen
magazines. She does a humorous but thorough critique on the newest teen magazines
that have been published and later on attempts to introduce magazines that she
believes are better suited for teenage girls. Featherstone looks down on publications
that emphasize most of their print on Fashion, relationships and celebrities and
advocates for magazines that stimulate intellectual growth, promote a healthy body

Featherstone makes a good point in her article all while using most abundantly three
rhetorical tools: logos, ethos and pathos that she wove into a studied text organization

The Island Of Jamaica, Jamaica
For our travel report project I chose the island of Jamaica, a place that I have been
longing to visit for quite sometime. Jamaica is an island that is a part of the Greater
Antilles located 90 miles south of Cuba and 100 miles west of Haiti. The island
has an area of 4,243 square miles and a 635 mile coastline. This beautiful island is
covered in rugged mountains, with some being volcanic, and has its highest peak
on Blue Mountain at 7,401 feet! (Briney) As of July 2014 the population of
Jamaica is 2,930,050 people, which is completely understandable considering its
awesome climate! The island s climate varies depending on your location on the
island. On the coast the temperatures tend to be tropical, hot and humid, but more
temperate inland. The capital of the island, Kingston, has average July high
temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and January average low temperatures of 66
degrees Fahrenheit. (Briney) The first inhabitants of Jamaica were the Arawaks
who were from South America. Later on, in 1494, Christopher Columbus was the
first European to explore the island. In 1510, decedents from Spain began to settle
in. After the Europeans began to settle, they brought war and disease to the island
and this greatly affected the Arawaks and eventually they died off. The British
arrived in 1655 and took Jamaica from Spain. Then, in 1670 Britain took full formal
control of Jamaica. Near the 1930s, Jamaica began to gain its independence from
Britain and in 1944 it had its

Instead, President Bush shunned offers of help from U.S. allies, with the exceptions

dangers of biological terrorism. President Bush announced his doctrine of preemption
that insisted on America s right to attack potential foes before they could harm the

Von Braun s Juno 1 team had an abundance of talent and had research already
underway. Regardless, by late 1957 Project Vanguard was ready to launch, though it
generated such huge amounts of publicity that the rocket was pressured to take off
prematurely. Unfortunately, the majestic spacecraft rose only a few feet before
exploding into silver shards of humiliation. Politics not only unwisely ordained
Vanguard to be the selected rocket, but had also played a role in its hasty launch. No
matter, however, since the Russians had already beaten the Americans into space
with a tiny satellite named Sputnik (Russian for traveler ) earlier that year.
Every ninety six minutes, Sputnik completed one orbit around Earth, all the while
helping Russia achieve a degree of publicity far greater than Khrushchev s highest
expectation and America s greatest fear. US citizens everywhere were dumbfounded,
despite the fact that the Russians, since 1953, had expressed hopes of launching an
Earth orbiting satellite sometime in the near future (Gatland 25 28). Americans
simply did not want to believe that a backwards and technologically undeveloped
nation had a remote chance of besting the technological superpower of the world.

Anna Maria Hong says similar things to Pamela Steed Hill. Hong says that Nye
offers that instead of being a random act, kindness is received after going through
certain experiences. She also enjoys the use of metaphors and personification. One
great point that Hong makes is that she believes that the Indian on the bus refers to
feeling uncomfortable or foreign in an environment. Most people look out the
window instead of embracing it. If this poem was compared to an event in real
life, one might use an example of going to a new school. When a kid or teenager
enters a new territory, they may not feel socially accepted at first. It is human nature
that making friends is not an easy task. That is why other peers should be kind
toward new student. You never know what kind of friend you might get unless you
try. However, most people don t know what being a new student is like unless they
have actually been one themselves.
In conclusion, Naomi Shihab Nye has written a truly meaningful poem about the
meaningfulness of kindness. Once one knows what kindness really is, you will
always be reminded of it. However, Nye says that you must loose things in order to
gain the full feeling of it. She uses personification, free verse rhythm, simile, and
alliteration to make all of the most important points in this poem. Pamela Steed Hill
and Anna Maria Hong give their opinions, and overall, enjoyed this poem. Students

The Role Of The Joint Commission On Accreditation Of...
The role of accreditation in the hospital setting.
The history of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals is a story of the
health professions commitment to patient care of high quality in the 20th century.
According to Dr. Ernest Codman, founder of the accreditation system, which would
enable hospitals to track every patient it treat long enough to determine whether or
not the treatment was effective. If not, the hospital would figure out how to prevent
similar failures in the future (Roberts, Coale Redman, 1987). At present, the
accreditation is a process of review that health care organizations participate in to
display the ability to meet approved criteria and standards of accreditation.
Accreditation represents agencies as credible and reputable organizations dedicated
to ongoing and continuous compliance with the highest standard of quality.

Short Sale Is The Sale Of A Stock
According to the provisions of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, A
short sale is the sale of a stock that an investor does not own or a sale which is
consummated by the delivery of a stock borrowed by, or for the account of, the
investor. It is usually performed to profit from an expected decline in the price of a
financial instrument. Typically, the shortseller will borrow the securities to be sold,
and later repurchase identical securities for return to the lender. Short selling can be
divided into two types: covered short selling where the seller has made arrangements
to borrow the securities before the sale and naked short selling where the seller has
not borrowed the securities when the short sale occurs. Although... Show more

The lack of information on short positions also means that regulators cannot properly
monitor short selling transactions for possible market abuse, so there may have
possibility of abusive behaviour not being detected or sanctioned.
As outlined above, which can be seen as reasons why many countries have already
taken national actions on restrictions on short sale. After 2008 financial crisis, most
countries introduced in emergency measures of intervention in the short selling.
Among these measures, information disclosure system, price regulation and
prohibition of naked short selling are relatively significant and have more attention by
the public.
For example, UK has taken actions with regard to short selling restrictions and

Society, and its influences upon the characters, plays a pivotal role in the
development of the story in Federico Lorca s The House of
Bernarda Alba and Isabel Allende s The House of the Spirits. Though the characters
in each literary work were influenced by a range of societal pressures, three major
influences dominate both works. The
Church, male dominance over women, and socio economic status (in other words,
one s social class) are all sources of the greatest societal pressures upon the characters.

As a result, society plays an important role by influencing the characters and their
actions and eventually leading to a tragic finale. Though The House of The Spirits
is set in rural South America (no particular country is specified) and not rural Spain,
the society described in the novel is very similar to that in The House of
Bernarda Alba. Again, the characters live in a society dominated and controlled by
men with distinctive social class separations and with the Catholic Church wielding
great power and influence over the people. The story spans three generations of the
Trueba family who are all greatly affected by the societal influences. As society
changes, the characters also change as old pressures disappear and new pressures
emerge.
As was characteristic of rural societies throughout Europe and Latin
America at the time of these literary works, the Catholic Church played a profound
role in the lives of people. Its influence was so prevalent because it was the common
link between people of all social classes. In The House of Bernarda Alba , there are
many examples of religion s great influence and significant role in the lives of the
characters.
However, it must be pointed out that the Church, an institution dominated by males,
heavily repressed women and thus solidified male dominance over women in society.
At the end of Act II we see a young woman in the village that had had a child
Observations of Realists Essay
Minor Essay Trimester 1, 2013 1) Are the observations of Realists, such as Hans
Morgenthau, accurate in respect to their assessment of the importance of international
law in contemporary world politics? Realists such as Hans Morgenthau and more
recently Lloyd Gruber, base their theories on the assumption individuals, and hence
states, act rationally to protect their own interests, the national interest. They believe
states exist in a world of anarchy without an over arching authority. While this may
be the case and it certainly is for some states, it is a theory that requires review

An argument by Social Constructionist such as Barnett and Finnemore is that IGOs
have the real power. As I will show later using the US invasion of Iraq, governments
still have the final say on their actions, although IGOs, NGOs and MNCs play a very
large role in influencing them. Having stated this, one may counter argue this implies
it is still a state verses state environment (Realism), however, the world has still
evolved into government verses government verses IGOs, NGOs and MNCs,
henceforth realism cannot not explain the actions of governments alone and must
consider the external influences. Constructivism does so, but places the power into
the hands of IGOs and the like. An alternative needs to be sought. Alternatives such as
the European Union, which remains ...the most successful experiment in political
institution building since the Second World War. Andrew Moravcsik goes on to say
the EU cannot replace or aspire to the democratic status of nation states, yet their role
remains embedded in monitoring accountability and extensive checks and balances
upon its member states. Emerging actors such as the EU again demonstrate the
changing environment and clearly indicate realist theories, must by reconsidered.
Focusing on the institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the World

politics, whether for selfish or selfless motivations. The concept of poverty alleviation

Medieval Art And Architecture Of The Gothic Architecture
The term Gothic comes from Giorgio Vaasari, he used the term to ridicule the
medieval art and architecture. Putting the art aside, the architecture of the period
was quite awesome, cathedrals stand today as a testament to this. The Gothic style
was birthed in France as the Romanesque style evolved. The Saint Denis was the
first Gothic cathedral; it was designed Abbot Suger in 1144. Gothic Cathedrals
were marvels in their time as they towered above the cities, they frequently reached
over 150 meters tall. The Cathedrals were built with the intention of looking like a
Latin cross; the two parts that make up the Latin cross are the Nave and the
transept. The three elements that make Gothic cathedrals different from previous
cathedrals are the Flying Buttresses, pointed arches and the ribbed vaults. Although
these items are cornerstones for what Gothic stands for, the façade with the three
door portals, the rose window and twin towers are what characterize French Gothic
cathedrals. The door portals are one of the main characteristics of the French Gothic
façade. The portal is part of the porch, which usually starts at the steps leading up
to the cathedral. The portals of the French façade are unique because of their deep
recession and how ornate they are. The façade (main entrance to the cathedral) of
the French Gothic cathedral has three door portals, each into a different section of the
cathedrals. Each portal delivered a different message with its stonework, this work

Descriptive Essay About Six Flags
About seven years ago, I went to Six Flags for the first time ever. I was only about
ten years old at the time, and of course I was extremely nervous. I had a lot of
questions about it because of course it was all new to me with it being my first
time going to an amusement park. I had asked about the big rides they have of
course, the really popular water park they have at Six Flags, and of course I had to
ask about the good amusement parkfood. As soon as I got there, my heart instantly
dropped.
I was at the park, and it was me and my family taking a trip to the best amusement
park in missouri. We took off from the house, in Fulton, Missouri. It was about an
hour and a half drive to get to Six Flags in St. Louis. We finally got there, the lines
were super long, and the park was packed already at about eleven in the morning.
Me and my little sister were both extremely excited to get past the long line, since
it was both of our first time being there. We walk through the gate, and my heart
instantly dropped on spot. The rides were super big. With loops and corkscrews, and
that made me go from excited to scared quick.I was only about ten years old;
therefore, I was not able to ride that many rides, and I was kind of relieved to hear
that from my family. Since I was too young and too short to ride any rides, me and
my sister went to the water park. The rides were still really big and scary, but also
very fun at the same time, there was quite a few cool water slides that I

How To Read As A Reader
As a reader, I have always struggled. From the first time, I began to read to now. We
never understood why until I was in sixth grade. In sixth grade, I was tested for

When I was child, I loved having books read to me, but never read them out loud. I
loved whenever we read One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish and Chicka Chicka
Boom Boom. When I would have these books read to me I did not understand why
the letters did not make sense to me to make real words. I would try to sound them
out but could not come up with a real word when I did. I started to memorize the
books I loved because my parents would ask what certain words are and I did not
know. All through the beginning years of grade schoolI was two to three years behind
in my reading level. I thought this was normal because my teachers never tried to
help me improve. In sixth grade, we would have to read a book out loud to the rest of
our classmates, I hated this. I could pronounce the easiest of words. And the words I
could pronounce I read so slow. A few weeks after this we found out I was dyslexic.

Problem Statement
The Fox network transmits over satellite communication infrastructure, and terrestrial
fiber networks 36 linear television programing services from its Los Angeles facility.
Additionally, the facility provides about 100 Internet provided linear and non linear
television services. These services only provide programming to the United States
audience. Other global transmission facilities provide the programming services for
the remaining global countries of the world. The Los Angeles facility uses a highly
integrated automation system to manage the expense of providing the services.
Computerized data, such as television material, is critical to the survival of the

George F. Will is a Pulitzer Prize writer and an editor for Newsweek. He is well
known for his strong conservative political commentary. He discusses the history of
Inaugural Addresses and how they reflect the way the country has changed
throughout the years. He points out a number of differences such as sentence
structure, tone, and topics.
For example, he cites the numbering of words. He mentions George Washington s
second sentence of his address, which was 87 words.

George Washington had to be much more modest, speaking about his personal
problems and as much as he would like to rest, his country was calling him. In the
beginning with Washington, the issue was that he would be able to turn the
presidency into another monarchy. Around the time of Cleveland and Garfield, a
major issue was polygamy. During the time of Monroe, the issue was coastal
fortifications. As of today, these are no longer on the list of major issues. This
progression shows how the country has grown over the many years.
Though Will is happy that we do not have to talk about the issues of the past
anymore, he does not like the shortening of sentences and how Presidents have
become more like preachers. He shows appreciation of Washington s modesty despite
the amount of praise he was showered with, but understands how there were different
problems during that time.
Most of what Will says is backed up with some strong points, using factual
information from past people such as Cleveland, Garfield, and Teddy Roosevelt. This
greatly backs up his claims, making them hard to argue against. He makes strong
arguments that clearly show how there has been quite a change throughout the history
of the Inaugural Addresses.
A significant point he brings up is the decrease in the word count per sentence over
the years. It s true there has been a major change in literature over the years.

The Importance Of Mass Communication
In today s society, worldwide communication is at the palm one s hands. In just
seconds, someone can send a message to someone halfway across the world with
very little effort. The mass use of this fast as light communication can cause one to
become so accustomed to it that they see it as the norm. Due to this exponential
increase in technology, it is easy to forget about how message were communicated
before there was any technology available to communicate with. Mass
communication traces back all the way to a time before even written languages had
been created. The root of all communication was storytelling. For people like the
Ancient Greeks, though, storytelling was much more than just a form of
communication. It was a form of art and entertainment. Some people s job was solely
to tell stories. Bards and minstrel were tasked with entertaining people, especially
royalty and the elite, with stories from the past. However, entertainment does not
express the true value of storytelling in Ancient Greece. The real reason storytelling
was so prominent is those time was because it was a form of survival. Storytelling as
a mode of survival is prominently seen in Homer s work, The Odyssey. The main
character, Odysseus, uses storytelling as a tactic to stay alive during his hero quest. In
many situations throughout the work, his skill at telling stories prevents him from
being killed and helps him get closer to returning to his home in Ithaca. Storytelling

Delta Air Lines Communications and Decision Making
C.E. Woolman, the first leader of Delta Air Lines, believed that the company should
take care of its employees so that, in return they would take care of customers. At the
root of this care included effectively communicating with his teams and empowering
them to make the right decisions. As Debra Nelson and James Quick reference in
Organizational Behavior: Science, the Real World, and You, (2013, p. 283)
...communication, especially between managers and employees, is a critical
foundation for effective performance in organizations...this is especially critical when
leaders are articulating vision and achieving buy in from employees. The buy in that
Woolman received from his employees stemmed from his intentional engagement
with them and expectation to provide the best customer service in the airline industry.
Throughout its history, Delta has deliberately engaged its employees and has
modeled a human resource management (HRM) system, which is the term
increasingly used to refer to the philosophy, policies, procedures, and practices related
to the management of an organization s employees (Sims, 2002, p. 2). The HRM
system at Delta has impacted its organizational structure, corporate communications,
and shared decision making.

The s Reflection Of The Ancient Women
Queering Vivien s poem entails finding the elements of imitation, anonymity, and/or
appropriation. Two of these elements, anonymity and imitation are clear in Vivien s
reflection of the ancient women on Lesbos in herself. Imitation provides Vivien
with a means of growing in sexuality, a gaining of knowledge of the women of
Lesbos s ways. The ancient Lesbians work as a template, but suddenly become the
same as the lesbians of Vivien s timereferred to as our (18). The result of imitation is
growing nearer toward the likeness of the ancient Lesbians. Vivien s body
metaphorically becomes a reflecting mirror, taking up all aspects of the ancient
Lesbians. Vivien and her lesbians go beyond queer imitation to a new form, the same
form as the ancient Lesbians. Vivien s group cannot be distinguished from the ancient
Lesbians, since they all mirror one another. Imitation renders Vivien s bodies queer
and identical.
There is no singular body at any point only but our bodies. Anonymity then is also
relevant to Vivien s poem. One cannot differentiate between the present our bodies
and ancient their bodies either. No difference exists between them, as they are mirror
images of each other. The bodies in the poem are queer as they are both anonymous
and imitated, yet simultaneously the bodies transcend time. Bridging a long period of
time (ancient Greece to 19th centure Britain) means Vivien does not have a full
picture of how these women of Lesbos lived. Imitating the past
Database Used for Reporting and Data Analysis
Introduction
In computing, a data warehouse (DW, DWH), or an enterprise data warehouse
(EDW), is a database used for reporting and data analysis. Integrating data from one
or more disparate sources creates a central repository of data, a data warehouse
(DW). Data warehouses store current and historical data and are used for creating
trending reports for senior management reporting such as annual and quarterly
comparisons.
The data stored in the warehouse is uploaded from the operational systems (such as
marketing, sales, etc., shown in the figure to the right). The data may pass through an
operational data store for additional operations before it is used in the DW for
reporting.
A fundamental concept of a data warehouse is the distinction between data and
information. Data is composed of observable and recordable facts that are often
found in operational or transactional systems. At Rutgers, these systems include the
registrar s data on students (widely known as the SRDB), human resource and
payroll databases, course scheduling data, and data on financial aid. In a data
warehouse environment, data only comes to have value to end users when it is
organized and presented as information. Information is an integrated collection of
facts and is used as the basis for decision making.
The data warehouse is that portion of an overall Architected Data Environment that
serves as the single integrated source of data for processing information. The data
warehouse has specific
The Environmental Impacts Of Costa Rica
Just like other countries, Costa Rica was a victim to deforestation and other
environmental degradation in the past. Now, however, Costa Rica is widely
known for the preservation of its forests, wildlife, and the overall well being of the
environment of its pristine country. The government of Costa Rica realized the
issues of the environmental degradation they had caused and pledged to never go
back. Now, Costa Rica is one of the biggest leaders in the green movement. The
governmental agency SETENA, has helped Costa Rica s eco preservation. SETENA
is the Costa Rican National Environmental Office. SETENA stands for, SecretarГa
TГ©cnica Nacional Ambiental which translates to National Environmental Technical
Secretariat . The purpose of this agency is to address the environmental impacts from
development and building. The main mission of SETENA is to carry out a reliable
process of assessing environmental impact, delivering a trustworthy service, so that
proper decisions can be made by state institutions. What SETENA wants is to be one
of the leading institutions that can guarantee society that development can and will
take place in harmony with the environment. When a new business is to be
established, it is a requirement to get approval from SETENA. However, the process
is rather time consuming and frustrating for people who would like to build a
residential establishment. During 2010, SETENA was intervened by the Minister of
the Environment due to the excessively long
Netball Test
Introduction
Good Morning/Afternoon Mr/Mrs Flynn, My name is Alex Manley and in this
assignment I will be selecting one of the three Fitness tests provided for an elite
Netball player and critically evaluating the effectiveness of the Octorepeater Test in
targeting the energy fitness demands of a Wing Defence position. I will also propose
recommendations to the test to improve the effectiveness of the test to Netball.
Energy Demands
All three energy systems is important to have in a game of netball. Muscles are also
need for all three energy systems in a game of netball. Muscles require energy to
work, and all energy is provided by a chemical in our cells called Adesonine
Triphosphate (ATP). ATP is only stored to last for a couple of seconds. There are
three energy systems which make up of anaerobic and aerobic parts in our body. The
anaerobic system is split into 2 energy systems Creatine Phosphate (CP) and Lactic
Acid (LA) System. These two systems do not need oxygen as ana means no and
aerobic meaning air. The ATP PC (Alactacid) energy system is the predominant
engine used by athletes competing in short duration, high intensity power events
(Macmilian et el. 2010 pg.109). If we suddenly begin sprinting, the ATP has to
resynthesise very quickly. The quickest way is a chemical reaction that uses creatine
phosphate (CP) which is found in the muscle cell. There is only enough CP to
resynthesise ATP for about 10 seconds. It takes several minutes of rest or low
Remi Dialectical Journal
The hot sun beamed off Remi s body as sweat ran down her skin like rain drops.
Today was the official beginning of fall and the sun has yet to show mercy on any
soul living. And to make matters even worse the A/C unit was out of order which
meant every one in Lakeview Apartment would have to suffer from the unbaring heat.
Sitting on the stoop of her apartment Remi watched as cars drove past her with
their windows rolled up as she sucked on her fifth pop cycle of the day. Her milk
chocolate skin was hidden underneath an all white Nike viser with he box braids
sitting in a high pony tail. The pink tank top she wore was slightly wet from all the
sweating she was doing while her blue denim shorts stuck to her body like glue.

To say she disliked Slum City would be to obvious but to say she hated it would be
all to clear. She did not understand why people couldn t just go out and get a job
instead of taking from others. It wasn t that hard. But yet taking from someone who
works like a Hebrew slave to get everything they need would be just as easy than
working a regular nine to five.
Going inside of the bathroom Remi stepped in the shower letting the hot warm
trinckle down her skin. Washing away her day. Remi stood in the shower humming
her favorite song her mother used to sing to her before she died.
Its been seventeen years since her death and although she never got to meet her
she could still hear her sweet voice echoing through her brain just like she did
when she was in the womb. Given birth to Remi meant more to her than saving her
own. So once it was time for her to birth to her second baby girl her life was slowly
gone. Bit thankful she spent every day reading and singing to her just to Remi could

International Tourism s Effect On Medical Tourism
Introduction In this paper, I will evaluate Hallyu in regards to its effect on medical
tourism. However, I will first define the terms in order to give a clearer picture of
what is Hallyu and which medical tourism I am referring too. Hallyu is defined as
the growing popularity of Korean based products that include drama, film, and pop
music (Kim). It is also used to describe the fast spreading popularity of Korean
culture like food, clothing, and housing. Recently, Hallyu or Korean Wavehas not just
swept over Asia, but also Middle East, Africa, and America. Out of all sector,
medical tourism is one of the biggest areas that received big impacts from Hallyu.
Medical tourism is defined as the process of travelling outside residency country...

In fact, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi admits that Bae Yon joon, the
lead actor of the series is more famous than him (Lee). These forces develop
interests for non Korean to engage with Korean lifestyle (Kim). It fosters them to try
eating Korean food, learning their language, and dressing like Korean to an extent
that Hallyu is cultivated in their daily routine (Hae Joang 147 150).
Hallyu has highlighted medical tourism through the representation of celebrities
on screen and paper in which they are portrayed to have a perfect looking skin. For
example, in dramas like Boys over Flower, all characters including the unfortunate
one s are portrayed to have that flawless and impeccable looks (Glynn, Basil, and
Kim 1 2). This set a high beauty standard for the viewers to attain. They are willing
to spend a lot of money to travel to South Korea just to find out the secret and truth
about Korean beauty. Then, plastic surgery becomes a known and popular alternative
for them to achieve that dream. The industry booms even farther after knowing that
cosmetic surgery is common for Korean people. International Society of Aesthetic
Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) reports that there would be a person out of every five
people that undergo plastic surgery in Korea based on 100,000 of Korea s general
population (Eun). In 2010, the number of non Korean patients is only 82,000,
however, in 2016 the number increases to 400,000 (Arirang TV).

Analysis Of Gift From The Sea By Anne Morrow Lindbergh
In Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Anne depicts her experiences
during her vacation on a beach. She uses aspects of the beach as metaphors that
relates back to humanity. These personifications can also be related to similarities
between humans and the environment. Throughout the book, there are lessons to be
learned from the sea, which are essentially the gifts from the sea. The narrator uses
shells or different features of the beach to describe how humans can learn from the
sea and how the relationship between humans and nature has changed. At the
beginning of Anne s story, she says The sea does not reward those who are too
anxious... . She writes that the sea teaches patience, which is not a characteristic that
humanity acquires
The Theory Of Child Development
Art educators that consider theories of child development when creating lesson plans,
are more effective. As art educators, we understand that it is our responsibility to
educate ourselves on the latest research of art development in order to better serve
our educational institutions through providing a quality art education for the future
generations of innovators in America. Piaget s stages of cognitive development
stages thoroughly explain the biological transition that occurs in elementary school
learning and laid down the groundwork for the study Drawing Development in
Children by Viktor Lowenfeld and Betty Edwards. Utilizing what we understand to be
age appropriate development, we can determine art history lessons that correspond...

However, they may need assistance figuring out a design to create this form. From
this example, we can see how cognitive and physical development at different stages
through art is essential to building on skills necessary in other aspects of life. When
developing a lesson plan, art teachers often think about what art history lesson they
want to teach, mediums they want to cover, the student s previous history in that art
form, and what steps in the process would have to be included in that instruction. It s
crucial to note the developmental age group in accordance to the background history
in art education, so that we can fully understand how to build upon skills that have
been previously established. Many theorists agree that development does occur in
stages. A similar idea to child develop within stages is Piaget s Stages of Cognitive
Development: The first stage is sensorimotor where intelligence is shown through
motor activity based on physical interactions and experiences. Mobility or physical
development allow for the development of new intellectual abilities. The
preoperational stage is when intelligence is demonstrated through the use of symbols.
As language matures, memory and imagination develop. Thinking is not logical,
irreversible and
Myths on Cosmic Creation
Every person in America has a myth or conviction of truth as to how creation was
formed and human beings came into existence. The following are inclusive in
creation myths, the first is the Zulu myth found in the continent of Africa, and the
other is the myth of Norse originating from Europe. Both myths give a reason as to
how creation was formed on earth. Though there are endless amounts of ideas and
vast amounts of myths to explore, the focus of these two particular myths brings
fascination to a social phenomenon.
The cycle of creation in the Zulu myth is as follows in the in text citation ( Zulu
Creation , 2011): Darkness was in the beginning accompanied by a large seed. The
seed fell from heaven and the seed produced reeds that grew called Uthlanga. One
seed in particular grew into a man and his named Unkulunkulu. He grew so large
and heavy that he broke off and fell to earth. As he fell, he walked earth with a
purpose to grow other seeds into male and female. Outside of humans, Unkulunkulu
created animals, mountains, lakes, and the sun and moon. He taught female and male
how to survive by imparting agriculture to grow things, how to hunt, and make fire.
Unkulunkulu sent a chameleon into the world with the message that his people will
live forever. As this animal took too long, his impatience grew and a lizard sent out a
message of death completing the circle of birth to death.
The introduction of creation in the Norse myth is as follows from the in text citation
What To Sacrifice Research Paper
To sacrifice is to give up something important for something even better, which may
cause pain; but, in the end, it will be totally worth it. I have witnessed my own
friends performing such a damaging act that hurt me as individual, mentally, and
has made me begin to struggle in daily activities. I have allowed myself to become
stressed out, ignore the healthier relationships in my life, and have noticed a great
decrease in my self esteem. However, I have learned that these problems were or
can be created due to the reaction and response I express. This reaction has both
hurt me and helped me build as an individual. Some people respond by getting
revenge on the other person, which ends up making him or her just as disrespectful
as the other; while I have realized it is better to forgive rather than hold a grudge. I
also have realized forgiving someone makes me appear more respectable, and it
ultimately places me in a higher place than the individual I am dealing with;
forgiveness may be a painful thing to go through, but in the long run, I have benefited
from it in numerous ways.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I begin to create a constant fear in my head that the person who hurt me once will
most likely do it again. I have learned that allowing someone a second, third, or
sometimes fourth chance, creates an image that does not show respect for myself.
It has shown the person that is hurting me that they can do whatever they please
because I will forgive them anyways; which is not how I want to be viewed in
society. I fear the same occurrence will remain and that I will appear weak to
others; appearing weak in society is not the type of person I am. I have learned that
even though I may get hurt again, I have to do what is right and remove that person
from my life, which will eliminate my fear and allow me to stand
Reality of Education in America Essay
For the past handful of years America has had its fair share of problems terrorist
attacks, global warming, horrendous mass shootings, twerking, and so on. Most
recently, however, angry strikes from frustrated, underpaid citizens have been in the
headlines. Surprisingly, it was found that most of these demonstrators were teachers:
angry with the government and the economical approach that was taken to improve
fiscal issues. Within the United States, this approach was called the Deficit
Reduction Plan (DRP). This solution imposed lowering debt by reducing spending
and raising taxes. In 2009, US deficit was at an all time high, peaking almost $1.4
trillion. Since deficit reductions have not worked in the past, many individuals and...

This is why every year twenty percent of teachers in urban districts quit and around
five to ten percent go on strike. Probably the most well known teacher strike stems
from Chicago. In this area, 26,000 Chicago Public School teachers went on strike
due to unfair job ethics and pay. Additionally, the same movement (on a much
smaller scale) was starting to be found nationwide in Florida, Washington,
California, New York and also worldwide in countries such as Mexico, Brazil,
Greece, and England. What we are seeing is not something that can be ignored. It is
something that must be addressed as soon as possible, not just in America, but also
in other countries as well. In the palatial grounds of Mexico City alone, thousands of
cars and twenty two million people have been brought down, not by religious
conflicts or terrorist attacks, but rather an aggregation of furious school teachers.
Around 10,000 educators protesting a government reform program have in the span
of a week disrupted international air travel, forced the cancellation of two major
soccer matches, rerouted the planned route of the marathon and jammed up already
traffic choked freeways, reports Mark Stevenson of the Huffington Post. In Brazil,
strikes have been ensuing since June of 2013. The problem went from small marches
against transportation fares to a nationwide protest against
A New Phenomenon And Donald Trump
The recent rise in awareness has brought the concept of income inequality to the
forefront of American s minds; however, this is certainly not a new phenomenon. The
United States has struggled with income inequality since its birth 241 years ago; the
much bigger issue today stands within the mentality of greed that has developed in
recent time. While income inequality has existed since the nation s birth, the looming
threat to societies wellbeing is the emergence of a mentality of greed that has grown
unbridledly in recent decades. America s capitalist economic system has made the
institution of income inequality as American as baseball, cheeseburgers, and pick up
trucks. Arguably since the 1980 s and 90 s, an ornery wee gremlin dubbed... Show

Donald Trump also sees obstacles as mole hills rather than mountains but in an
albeit less shrewd way than Hearst. When told that Mexico was not willing to pay
for his southern border wall, his response was the wall just got 10 feet higher!
(source). (Insert quote about Hearst starting war here). Hearst enjoyed the finest
things in life and bought and built grand monuments to his wealth all over the
world. The list is far too long to detail but highlights include a castle on long island
that F. Scott Fitzgerald used as his inspiration for Gatsby s mansion, an h shaped
mansion in Beverly Hills that the Kennedy s vacationed in and can be seen in The
Godfather, a quintuplex (5 story) penthouse apartment in New York City, and a
massive castle complex in San Simeon, California that sat on a piece of property
half the size of Rhode Island overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Donald Trump also
enjoys monuments to his wealth and has a number of significant properties like high
rises around the world, golf clubs, hotels, and the now infamous Mar a Lago Club in
Palm Beach. Much like Donald Trump, William Randolph Hearstwas born into
privilege. Hearst s father was a successful mining millionaire and kickstarted his sons
career by giving him the San Francisco Examiner in 1887 (source). Trump and his
supporters often herald his empire by saying he built the entire thing from a one

Finally, looking at Leemore S. Dafny (2005) empirical examination of the effect
rival hospital mergers have on a firm s own price. Dafny broke this experiment up
into three distinct phases: 1985 1988 pre period , 1988 1997 treatment period ,
and 1997 2000 post period to show the relationship between price growth and rival
co location. Dafny notes that previous observational studies on the impact of
mergers have ignored selection problems and reported biased estimates. Specifically,
factors that are correlated with the outcome measure as well as with the probability
of merger will generate biased estimates of the impact of merger (Dafny 2005, 2). To
generate unbiased estimates Dafny uses a combination of rival analysis and... Show

This sector is selected because, the assumption of co location being uncorrelated
with factors related to price growth in the hospitals area would be violated if
hospitals prior to 1988 moved to an area because they expected prices to increase
during 1988 1996. Since the acute care hospital industry has not experience many
entries since the Hospital Survey and Construction Act of 1946, and less than one
percent of hospitals had rivals exit during the study period, the author concludes the
assumption holds. The dataset is constructed using panel data and then separated into
two samples: All Hospitals and Rival Sample.
All Hospitals, is comprised of 4,487 hospitals with data for all independent
variables, more than 100,000 residents in its counties or metropolitan area, are non
federal, and present in the 1988 American Hospital Association Survey. Rival
Sample, contains only non merging hospitals from the All Hospitals sample with
two or more rivals within 7 miles during 1988. The reasoning behind two or more
rivals is that if non merging hospital has less than two rivals then it cannot
experience a rival merger. While the rationale for 7 miles is due to this small area
when adjacent hospitals merge, it is reasonable to expect an effect on the prices of
rivals. The Rival Sample is then broken down into two subdivisions: 118 hospitals
with merging rivals (NMW) and 759 hospitals without merging rivals (NMWO). The
need for the distinction between NMWs and NMWOs is because

Essay On My Class.pdf

  • 1. Essay On My Class Crafting an essay on the topic "Essay On My Class" may initially seem like a straightforward task, as it revolves around a familiar subject—the class. However, the challenge lies in making it unique, engaging, and reflective of personal experiences. The difficulty arises from the need to balance objectivity and subjectivity, capturing the essence of the class without drifting into mere enumeration. One must navigate through the intricate process of introspection, recalling significant moments, relationships with classmates, and the overall impact of the class on personal and academic growth. The struggle intensifies when attempting to strike a balance between individual experiences and the collective identity of the class. Ensuring that the essay resonates with readers, conveying a sense of connection and shared experiences, adds another layer of complexity. Moreover, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic observations. It requires a creative touch to transform seemingly mundane class activities into compelling narratives that captivate the reader's attention. Selecting the right anecdotes, quotes, or reflections to highlight can be a daunting task, requiring careful consideration of the essay's tone and purpose. Additionally, one must be mindful of the structure and flow of the essay. Finding the right sequence of events or ideas to create a coherent and engaging narrative can be a formidable task. It's essential to avoid repetition and maintain a cohesive thread throughout the essay to keep the reader immersed in the story. In essence, writing an essay on the topic "Essay On My Class" demands a delicate balance of personal reflection, creativity, and effective storytelling. It requires the writer to delve into their memories, extract meaningful moments, and present them in a way that not only paints a vivid picture of the class but also resonates with a broader audience. • 2. Maria Mitchell Essay This paper will discuss the life of Maria Mitchell and how she became the first woman astronomer in the United States. It will tell of where she grew up. How she climbed the ranks to achieve her goals and how she came into discovering her true passion of astronomy. By describing the events that made this courageous woman, we can see clearly how she set an example for her gender in the Nineteenth century. Women have always been at the forefronts of science, even though they have not always taken the credit for it. One of the defining marks of humanity is our ability to affect and predict our environment. She had memorized the sky and was sure of her observation. (Gromley p.55) This was the great discovery that her constant vigilance brought into the open, as she saw a comet of unknown origin. It occurred to her that this might be a comet. Maria recorded the presumed comet s coordinates. The next night the star moved again. This time she was sure it was a comet. Her father wrote to Professor William Bond at the Harvard University observatory about Maria s discovery. Professor Bond submitted Maria s name to the king of Denmark who had offered a gold medal to a person who discovers a comet seen only through a telescope. Another person, Father Francesco de Vico of Rome discovered the same comet two days later (Mitchell p.105) than Maria Mitchell and the decision was made to award him the prize before news of Maria s earlier discovery arrived in Europe. After some negotiations Maria Mitchell was awarded the medal for this discovery a year later. The comet was named Miss Mitchell s Comet. She continued working as a librarian, but now she was also receiving letters of congratulations from scientists and tourists were coming to take a look at the woman astronomer. In 1848 the American Academy of Arts and Sciences voted her the first woman member. The Association for the Advancement of Science did the same in 1850. In 1849 she was offered a job by the U.S. Nautical Almanac Office as a computer (one who does computations) of
  • 3. Essay on The Truth about Cannibalism The Truth about Cannibalism Typical Western thought directs people to examine the practices of cannibalism as savage and primitive. More often than not, this type of association exists because the people viewing the action are frightened and confused by that which they do not understand. In fact, some would even claim that, cannibalism is merely a product of European imagination (Barker, 2), thereby completely denying its existence. The belief that cannibalism goes against human instinct , as seen in many literary works including Tarzan, reduces those who practice it to being inhuman. (Barker, 1) However, scientific findings demonstrate that those who practice cannibalism are still human despite their difference in beliefs; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interestingly, the Azande were even more feared, however, because they attacked other tribes not only to eat some of the captured, but also to sell others as slave trade. The Hua and Gimi tribes of New Guinea differ greatly in theoretical beliefs from the Fang and Azande. In the Hua tribe, the ultimate reality is not society but the mysteries of the body. (Sanday, 60) The Hua practice cannibalism because they find the human body to be sacred, and mortuary cannibalism is necessary to bring out all that is sacred in the body. Nu is the label the tribe uses for the parts of the body that explain growth and aging, death and illness, the contrast of male and female. Through this Nu the tribe attempts to explain, if not the whole world, then at least the biological and social aspects of life. (Sanday, 63). The Gimi tribe uses cannibalism to maintain a maternal connection of mother and son. Only women actually eat human flesh because Gimi males are, born, loved, buried, bewailed, eaten, and reborn through their mother. (Sanday, 73) Cannibalism plays a key role in society to maintain growth and development of the men and women through the mortuary cannibalism by the mother of the son. While the mother eats the son, the males of the society eat the corresponding parts of a pig to advance their fallen

  • 6. America Becoming a Godless Culture Essay America Becoming a Godless Culture Many people believe the United States is becoming a Godless culture. The argument is that we are losing our moral values, because religion is not an important part of our life anymore. This is the view of most Fundamentalist Christians and right wing believers. I vehemently disagree with this argument. I say this because there are many ways to practice religion. We have many ethnic populations in our country with many different religions. Because of this, there are many beliefs that differ from the Christian based or religions of only one god. Therefore, our country is not becoming Godless, there are many ways to practice one s faith. It is our sinful ways and God is striking down at us. We, the people who do not believe in Jesus Christ as our savior, are even going to be branded after the world ends with the fiery Armageddon. The fundamental Christians do not believe there is any other way to practice faith and religion other than Christianity. I do not believe our country is becoming a godless culture. One of the important aspects that are missing from the godless culture theory is the fact that we have in our country many different religions that are being practiced everyday. People who migrate to this country bring their own religion. Yes, they want to assimilate into our country, but they shouldn t have to become clones of the white establishment. Whether we migrate here or not many people practice Buddhism, spirituality, polytheism (more than one God) or pantheism (God is in everything including nature). I believe people who condemn us to be a godless culture are actually afraid of differences. Differences of color, clothing, style, music, food and faith. I believe being different and having many cultures in our country makes us stronger in tolerance and acceptance of all human beings. Isn t this what God preaches in the bible. It is quite interesting to note that the divorce rate is higher in the bible belt states, southern states, than other states, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Swing Dance Papers The quotes For most people, social dancing begins in pleasure, and Of course, people sometimes feel pressure to dance in ways that are otherwise associated with pleasure; social dancing can serve many functions in a society, from Chapter 4 of Dancing: The Pleasure, Power, and Art of Movement (Jonas 2003), peaked interest in me when thinking of all the various danceforms that we have talked of in class and even those outside of class. One in particular that has interested me the most is swing dance. With family member involvement in the past and having multiple friends take part in the Swing Dance Club here on the Wayne State University Campus for pleasure, enjoyment and social interaction has made me want to go more in depth about it. With the help from academic sources and knowledge from class lectures I will be researching the history of swing dancing, the forms of swing dancing, and what gender roles take place within these movements. According to The Edinburgh University Swing Dance Society of the Edinburgh University Students Association, Swing dancing is a style of dance that was originated from Harlem, New York with Afro American Roots. Although originating with Afro American Roots, I do know that many other cultures and races take part in this form of social dance, and it is not segregated to one race specifically. When in the act of this dance, one should feel as if they are swinging. Swing Dancing developed as a swing style from jazz music from around

Is this the good time to do so? How would we know if the 7E7 project will create value? How to estimate the WACC? Is there anything else the board of directors should consider in assessing the financial appeal of this project? Why might the board vote yes on the 7E7, when the cost of capital estimate is greater than the IRR? Why might the board vote no if the cost of capital is less than the IRR? What should the board do? Airbus, the market leader, produced planes to serve the short, medium and extended range routes. Analysts believe that Airbus seemed to be more bullish on the future of the large aircraft market leaving Boeing an opportunity to gain back market share in the mid size market, assuming that Airbus did not pursue the mid range segment with a competing product. Boeing had a drop in commercial airplanes delivered from 527 in 2001 to 381 in 2002 and needed this project to keep them in the hunt with Airbus. The board will also have to consider the decades it may take to recoup the costs of starting this project. Development costs in the airline industry are substantial leading to many years of negative cash flows. The introduction of a new plane is a make or break activity for the producers and requires huge financing capabilities. The development costs and per copy costs were difficult to predict, and Boeing also faced engineering uncertainty with the project. The success of the project depends heavily on Boeing s ability to keep the production costs low and actually deliver a more efficient aircraft than the competition. Yes this is the good time for Boeing to launch their new aircraft. At this time, the price of raw materials are very cheap caused by unexpected disasters. Although there s no demand at this moment, but they can still continue making the aircraft. The further information will describe how Boeing can continue

  • 11. The Story Of My Search Lilly Bjorkquist The Story of My Search It s no secret that the economy has not been the best in the past five or so years, and a lot of schools have taken the hardest hit from that. Public schools have had to cut many different programs and areas of study because it is simply just too expensive to teach all of them and provide the correct materials for the students. This is causing the quality of students education to go down, and they aren t receiving all of the benefits that they should be. The education that a student receives starting in elementary school and all the way up into high schools sets them up for how they will do in college, and that will determine how they are going to live the rest of their lives. I want to see how they deal with these cuts but yet still give the students the proper education. Overall, I just want to find out how schools make up for the classes that are taken out of the schools, and what they think is the best way to deal with this situation. My search had its good and bad points, but over all it was pretty successful and took me about two weeks to complete. I found out a lot of things that I didn t know, but some of the things were obvious from attending a public high school. At some points it was difficult to find information to back up what I wanted to explain, but for the most part I had a handful of good and credible sources to use. I used a few websites that were from major new sites, a former teacher, and school websites themselves. I got the majority of my information from the news sites, and that was very interesting because the different states showed different ways that they cut programs and how it differed depending on the school and the area. It also showed how some of them were similar and some of the cuts were placed in the same areas but not always. Another thing that I did was to interview one of my former teachers to see what her feelings where on the budgets cuts and how it directly effected her. It was good to hear some feedback from someone who was experiencing the cuts first
  • 12. The Eleusinian Mysteries Of Ancient Greece The Eleusinian Mysteries Religion is interwoven in the social, cultural and economic life of all civilisations and Ancient Greece was no exception. Typically, most religion in Ancient Greece was civic in nature, however, in the fifth century B.C., mystery religions began to gain popularity. Shrouded in secrecy, the mystery religions provided a more personal approach to religion, fascinating initiates and capturing the imagination of the Greek populace. The most popular of these mystery cults was the cult of Demeter, a veneration established in Eleusis around 1500 B.C. The Eleusinian mysteries were the earliest and most celebrated mysteries in classical antiquity (Karoglou, 2013). These, through their appeal to initiates, played a pivotal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Homeric Hymn to Demeter, coupled with the surviving evidence, allows modern historians to paint a consistent portrait of the Eleusinian mysteries. The Hymn to Demeter was composed in Attica no later than the 7th century B.C. and served for centuries thereafter as the canonical hymn of the Eleusinian Mysteries (Nilsson, 2016). The anonymously transcribed source tells the tale of Persephone s abduction by Hades, God of the underworld (Sailors, 2007). The Hymn reveals the significance of seasonal elements within the Mystery cult. The fact that the Persephone, upon negotiation with Hades, dwells two thirds of the year in the upper world is manifestly connected to vegetation (Nilsson, 2016). This too is connected to the annual festival which takes place in the middle of the Greek month Boedromion (October), a winter month. In the 6th century B.C., Herodotus, the father of Greek history, wrote: Every year the Athenians celebrate the festival in honour of the Mother and the Maid, and anyone who wishes, from all of Athens or elsewhere, may be initiated into the Mysteries (Keller, 2009). Therefore, it is revealed that the great procession from Athens to Eleusis, along the sacred way, was held in order to appease Demeter for a prosperous summer (Burkert, 1985). Liza Featherstone takes up the subject of teen magazines. She does a humorous but thorough critique on the newest teen magazines that have been published and later on attempts to introduce magazines that she believes are better suited for teenage girls. Featherstone looks down on publications that emphasize most of their print on Fashion, relationships and celebrities and advocates for magazines that stimulate intellectual growth, promote a healthy body image and include diversity. As an active journalist, columnist and activist, Liza Featherstone makes a good point in her article all while using most abundantly three rhetorical tools: logos, ethos and pathos that she wove into a studied text organization and a simple writing style. Jamaica is an island that is a part of the Greater Antilles located 90 miles south of Cuba and 100 miles west of Haiti. The island has an area of 4,243 square miles and a 635 mile coastline. The capital of the island, Kingston, has average July high temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and January average low temperatures of 66 degrees Fahrenheit. (Briney) The first inhabitants of Jamaica were the Arawaks who were from South America. Later on, in 1494, Christopher Columbus was the first European to explore the island. In 1510, decedents from Spain began to settle in. After the Europeans began to settle, they brought war and disease to the island and this greatly affected the Arawaks and eventually they died off. The British arrived in 1655 and took Jamaica from Spain. Then, in 1670 Britain took full formal control of Jamaica. Near the 1930s, Jamaica began to gain its independence from Britain and in 1944 it had its

  • 21. Anna Maria Hong says similar things to Pamela Steed Hill. Hong says that Nye offers that instead of being a random act, kindness is received after going through certain experiences. She also enjoys the use of metaphors and personification. One great point that Hong makes is that she believes that the Indian on the bus refers to feeling uncomfortable or foreign in an environment. Most people look out the window instead of embracing it. If this poem was compared to an event in real life, one might use an example of going to a new school. When a kid or teenager enters a new territory, they may not feel socially accepted at first. It is human nature that making friends is not an easy task. That is why other peers should be kind toward new student. You never know what kind of friend you might get unless you try. However, most people don t know what being a new student is like unless they have actually been one themselves. In conclusion, Naomi Shihab Nye has written a truly meaningful poem about the meaningfulness of kindness. Once one knows what kindness really is, you will always be reminded of it. However, Nye says that you must loose things in order to gain the full feeling of it. She uses personification, free verse rhythm, simile, and alliteration to make all of the most important points in this poem. Again, the characters live in a society dominated and controlled by men with distinctive social class separations and with the Catholic Church wielding great power and influence over the people. The story spans three generations of the Trueba family who are all greatly affected by the societal influences. As society changes, the characters also change as old pressures disappear and new pressures emerge. As was characteristic of rural societies throughout Europe and Latin America at the time of these literary works, the Catholic Church played a profound role in the lives of people. Its influence was so prevalent because it was the common link between people of all social classes. Putting the art aside, the architecture of the period was quite awesome, cathedrals stand today as a testament to this. The Gothic style was birthed in France as the Romanesque style evolved. The Saint Denis was the first Gothic cathedral; it was designed Abbot Suger in 1144. Gothic Cathedrals were marvels in their time as they towered above the cities, they frequently reached over 150 meters tall. The Cathedrals were built with the intention of looking like a Latin cross; the two parts that make up the Latin cross are the Nave and the transept. The three elements that make Gothic cathedrals different from previous cathedrals are the Flying Buttresses, pointed arches and the ribbed vaults. In sixth grade, I was tested for dyslexia and as a result we found out I was dyslexic. Through my grade school and high school years We did everything and anything to help me to read better. When I was child, I loved having books read to me, but never read them out loud. I loved whenever we read One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. When I would have these books read to me I did not understand why the letters did not make sense to me to make real words. I would try to sound them out but could not come up with a real word when I did. I started to memorize the books I loved because my parents would ask what certain words are and I did not know. However, many elements of the traditional television distribution facility are changing to using IT components, and the identification and analysis methods use a similar analysis approach. Problem Statement The Fox network transmits over satellite communication infrastructure, and terrestrial fiber networks 36 linear television programing services from its Los Angeles facility. Additionally, the facility provides about 100 Internet provided linear and non linear television services. These services only provide programming to the United States audience. Other global transmission facilities provide the programming services for the remaining global countries of the world. The Los Angeles facility uses a highly integrated automation system to manage the expense of providing the services. Computerized data, such as television material, is critical to the survival of the enterprise (Omar, Alijani, Mason, 2011). The Fox organization relies on computerized systems to provide daily operations (Omar, Alijani, Mason, 2011). Fox has a strategy for providing an infrastructure for recovering operations if fire, hurricanes or other natural disasters

Will is a Pulitzer Prize writer and an editor for Newsweek. He is well known for his strong conservative political commentary. He discusses the history of Inaugural Addresses and how they reflect the way the country has changed throughout the years. He points out a number of differences such as sentence structure, tone, and topics. For example, he cites the numbering of words. He mentions George Washington s second sentence of his address, which was 87 words. George Washington had to be much more modest, speaking about his personal problems and as much as he would like to rest, his country was calling him. In the beginning with Washington, the issue was that he would be able to turn the presidency into another monarchy. Around the time of Cleveland and Garfield, a major issue was polygamy. During the time of Monroe, the issue was coastal fortifications. As of today, these are no longer on the list of major issues. This progression shows how the country has grown over the many years. Though Will is happy that we do not have to talk about the issues of the past anymore, he does not like the shortening of sentences and how Presidents have become more like preachers. He shows appreciation of Washington s modesty despite the amount of praise he was showered with, but understands how there were different problems during that time. Most of what Will says is backed up with some strong points, using factual information from past people such as Cleveland, Garfield, and Teddy Roosevelt. This greatly backs up his claims, making them hard to argue against. He makes strong arguments that clearly show how there has been quite a change throughout the history of the Inaugural Addresses. A significant point he brings up is the decrease in the word count per sentence over the years. It s true there has been a major change in literature over the years. Personally, I had some trouble keeping up with the incredibly long

In just seconds, someone can send a message to someone halfway across the world with very little effort. The mass use of this fast as light communication can cause one to become so accustomed to it that they see it as the norm. Due to this exponential increase in technology, it is easy to forget about how message were communicated before there was any technology available to communicate with. Mass communication traces back all the way to a time before even written languages had been created. The root of all communication was storytelling. For people like the Ancient Greeks, though, storytelling was much more than just a form of communication. It was a form of art and entertainment. Some people s job was solely to tell stories. Bards and minstrel were tasked with entertaining people, especially royalty and the elite, with stories from the past. However, entertainment does not express the true value of storytelling in Ancient Greece. The real reason storytelling was so prominent is those time was because it was a form of survival. Storytelling as a mode of survival is prominently seen in Homer s work, The Odyssey. The main character, Odysseus, uses storytelling as a tactic to stay alive during his hero quest. In many situations throughout the work, his skill at telling stories prevents him from being killed and helps him get closer to returning to his home in Ithaca. Storytelling was crucial to

Woolman, the first leader of Delta Air Lines, believed that the company should take care of its employees so that, in return they would take care of customers. At the root of this care included effectively communicating with his teams and empowering them to make the right decisions. As Debra Nelson and James Quick reference in Organizational Behavior: Science, the Real World, and You, (2013, p. 283) ...communication, especially between managers and employees, is a critical foundation for effective performance in organizations...this is especially critical when leaders are articulating vision and achieving buy in from employees. Two of these elements, anonymity and imitation are clear in Vivien s reflection of the ancient women on Lesbos in herself. Imitation provides Vivien with a means of growing in sexuality, a gaining of knowledge of the women of Lesbos s ways. The ancient Lesbians work as a template, but suddenly become the same as the lesbians of Vivien s timereferred to as our (18). The result of imitation is growing nearer toward the likeness of the ancient Lesbians. Vivien s body metaphorically becomes a reflecting mirror, taking up all aspects of the ancient Lesbians. Vivien and her lesbians go beyond queer imitation to a new form, the same form as the ancient Lesbians. Vivien s group cannot be distinguished from the ancient Lesbians, since they all mirror one another. Imitation renders Vivien s bodies queer and identical. There is no singular body at any point only but our bodies. Anonymity then is also relevant to Vivien s poem. One cannot differentiate between the present our bodies and ancient their bodies either. No difference exists between them, as they are mirror images of each other. The bodies in the poem are queer as they are both anonymous and imitated, yet simultaneously the bodies transcend time. Bridging a long period of time (ancient Greece to 19th centure Britain) means Vivien does not have a full picture of how these women of Lesbos lived. Imitating the past
  • 43. Database Used for Reporting and Data Analysis Introduction In computing, a data warehouse (DW, DWH), or an enterprise data warehouse (EDW), is a database used for reporting and data analysis. Integrating data from one or more disparate sources creates a central repository of data, a data warehouse (DW). Data warehouses store current and historical data and are used for creating trending reports for senior management reporting such as annual and quarterly comparisons. The data stored in the warehouse is uploaded from the operational systems (such as marketing, sales, etc., shown in the figure to the right). The data may pass through an operational data store for additional operations before it is used in the DW for reporting. A fundamental concept of a data warehouse is the distinction between data and information. Data is composed of observable and recordable facts that are often found in operational or transactional systems. At Rutgers, these systems include the registrar s data on students (widely known as the SRDB), human resource and payroll databases, course scheduling data, and data on financial aid. In a data warehouse environment, data only comes to have value to end users when it is organized and presented as information. Information is an integrated collection of facts and is used as the basis for decision making. The data warehouse is that portion of an overall Architected Data Environment that serves as the single integrated source of data for processing information. The data warehouse has specific

I will also propose recommendations to the test to improve the effectiveness of the test to Netball. Energy Demands All three energy systems is important to have in a game of netball. Muscles are also need for all three energy systems in a game of netball. Muscles require energy to work, and all energy is provided by a chemical in our cells called Adesonine Triphosphate (ATP). ATP is only stored to last for a couple of seconds. There are three energy systems which make up of anaerobic and aerobic parts in our body. The anaerobic system is split into 2 energy systems Creatine Phosphate (CP) and Lactic Acid (LA) System. These two systems do not need oxygen as ana means no and aerobic meaning air. The ATP PC (Alactacid) energy system is the predominant engine used by athletes competing in short duration, high intensity power events (Macmilian et el. 2010 pg.109). If we suddenly begin sprinting, the ATP has to resynthesise very quickly. The quickest way is a chemical reaction that uses creatine phosphate (CP) which is found in the muscle cell. There is only enough CP to resynthesise ATP for about 10 seconds. It takes several minutes of rest or low

The cycle of creation in the Zulu myth is as follows in the in text citation ( Zulu Creation , 2011): Darkness was in the beginning accompanied by a large seed. The seed fell from heaven and the seed produced reeds that grew called Uthlanga. One seed in particular grew into a man and his named Unkulunkulu. This sector is selected because, the assumption of co location being uncorrelated with factors related to price growth in the hospitals area would be violated if hospitals prior to 1988 moved to an area because they expected prices to increase during 1988 1996. Since the acute care hospital industry has not experience many entries since the Hospital Survey and Construction Act of 1946, and less than one percent of hospitals had rivals exit during the study period, the author concludes the assumption holds. The dataset is constructed using panel data and then separated into two samples: All Hospitals and Rival Sample. All Hospitals, is comprised of 4,487 hospitals with data for all independent variables, more than 100,000 residents in its counties or metropolitan area, are non federal, and present in the 1988 American Hospital Association Survey. Rival Sample, contains only non merging hospitals from the All Hospitals sample with two or more rivals within 7 miles during 1988. The reasoning behind two or more rivals is that if non merging hospital has less than two rivals then it cannot experience a rival merger. While the rationale for 7 miles is due to this small area when adjacent hospitals merge, it is reasonable to expect an effect on the prices of rivals. The Rival Sample is then broken down into two subdivisions: 118 hospitals with merging rivals (NMW) and 759 hospitals without merging rivals (NMWO).
