The Benefits Of A Bug Wich
Would you like to eat a bug that can kill you? Some people might say yes some might say no and
plus they can be dangerous because you don t know what the bugs have been eaten and you are
going to eat it. Bugs can be expensive because they are hard to farm for most people it takes skill
to farm bugs wich makes it so expensive because they have to be good and edible if they are in
the restaurant you can get sowed if you just take one and pit it on your menu. You don t know if
the bug has something wrong with it thats why farmers can only do it because they know what
they are doing and we don t know if people would like them on a restaurants menu. Most farmers
even have trouble with it because the bugs are so little that most farmers cant

Essay On Francisco Goya
Francisco Goya is one of the most remarkable artists of the eighteenth century. Born in the village
of Fuendetodos in Spain, Goya grew up to become an inspirational painter after pursuing his
studies in art. Goya began working for the Spanish royal court and created several works that
were a criticism to the political and social problems of the contemporary era. He won several
commissions from the royal court after establishing his esteem as a portrait artist. During the period
of enlightenment, the artistic works of Goya were prominent throughout Spain. Goya introduced
royal workshops, which spanned over four monarchies. He painted several cartoons and haunting
scenes for the royal palaces. Goya s tapestries glorify the leisure activities of the young, rich and
poor. His etchings are a resemblance of the royal elite class. Most of Goya s paintings capture the
sensitivity of artistic techniques through brushstrokes. Some of Goya s artistic works introduce to
the audience, a world of ghosts, witches and other creatures, which invade the mind and include
nightmarish visions.

The painting was a true indication of the actions, which took place when one of the fiercest fights
at Hotel de Ville. Although the painting is not a depiction of the Partisan revolution, it was
visually striking by capturing the excitement of the event. The painting was a potent symbol of
the struggle for liberty. Painted in the backdrop of cannon smoke, the personification of the
painting is a combination of both real and ideal. In Liberty Leading the People, the woman
wears a red cap on her head, which symbolizes freedom. The red cap was a symbol of the first
French revolution, which was an emblem of freed slaves. The bare breasted woman holds a
tricolor in one hand and a musket in the other, and appears as half goddess and half

The State Of Eastland s Waste Disposal Regulation
SUMMARY OF ARGUMENT
The decision of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals should be affirmed. The state of Eastland s waste
disposal regulation is neither discriminatory nor protectionist. Historically, businesses and
professionals know that licensing requirements and authority belong solely to states and local
governments. A state government does not violate the commerce clausewhen it sets licensing
requirements for incineration and interment of fetal tissues pursuant to its autonomy and police
powers in carrying out local activities that have always been its traditional function to ensure the
health and safety of its citizens. Also, a state acts legitimately and fairly when having funded a
public facility, with local taxpayers money, for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This case is distinguishable from Carbone, Inc. v. Clarkstown. Indeed, it is hard to imagine two
cases that are factually more distinct, as Carbone involved a state favoring a single private
business and our case involves simply a government pursuing a legitimate interest, not for profit
nor to favor any private entity. C A Carbone v. Town of Clarkstown, 511 U.S. 383, 387 (1994).
Petitioners concede that they are strictly in the business for profit. And it s a widely known fact
that when people engage in endeavors solely for profit that usually remains their preoccupation.
Besides, all private providers, both in state and out of staters are free without restriction to operate
in all other regions of the state where there are no state run facilities. Nevertheless, the regulation is
strictly nondiscriminatory and absolutely does not impose an undue burden on interstate commerce
far from it. Our instant case is analogous to United Haulers Ass n v. Oneida Hertimer Solid Waste
Mgmt. Auth. where the County required all waste collectors to deliver all solid waste to processing
facilities that are operated by a public entity. There, the court held that such regulation did not
violate the commerce clause because the ordinance clearly benefited only a public facility, while
treating all private companies exactly the same. Like in United Haulers, the regulation here treats

Essay about Nuclear Energy
When most people think of a nuclear threat, they think of a nuclear attack from a
foreign nation. In reality, the largest nuclear threat comes not from foreign attack, but
from a much closer enemy: nuclear power. Nuclear power is very dangerous, and should
be done away with.
The nuclear age dawned in 1945, when the United States dropped atomic bombs
on two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bombing had at least two effects:
the Japanese surrender, bringing World War II to a swift end; and many people in the
United States, especially scientists and officials involved in the development of atomic
bombs, were awed, frightened and filled with guilt over the ... Show more content on

Many
people see the existing form of nuclear power as unsafe technology with a potential for
catastrophe. There have been multiple examples of this throughout the history of nuclear
power including the Browns Ferry, Three Mile Island, and Chernobyl incidents.
A serious incident occurred at a nuclear power plant in 1975 as a result of a fire
started by a candle. On March 22, 1975, two large reactors at Browns Ferry, Alabama
were operating and generating 2,200 megawatts of electricity. Beneath the plant s control
center, electricians were trying to seal air leaks among the complex array of electrical
cables that made up the electrical system of the two reactors.(Stephens 15)
The leaks were being sealed by stuffing strips of polyurethane foam among the
cables. To test for air leaks, the electricians held a lighted candle near the plastic foam to
see whether the flame flickered. Some of the foam caught on fire. Three chemical
extinguishers failed to put it out. After fifteen minutes a fire alarm sounded. Meanwhile,
the fire was spreading and destroying cables that affect the plant s electrical systems
including the reactor s Emergency Core Cooling System. A small pump had to be used to
keep the fuel core covered with water to prevent a meltdown.(Stephens 17 19)

Mike didn t want to put on the safety goggles since he was wearing his own glasses. He moved his
test tube away from his work area. He wanted to show his test tube to his friend, Ben, who was
on the opposite side of the table. He pointed the open end of the test tube toward Ben. Mike s
behavior was unsafe because he refused to put safety goggles on, he moved his hot test tube
away from the fire, and he pointed the open end of a test tube toward his classmate. Glasses don t
protect the side of your eyes. He could have gotten fumes or particles in his eyes. Safety goggles
must be worn when heating material in the lab. Glasses don t replace safety goggles. Students
should never point the open end of a test tube toward anyone including yourself. Always point test
tubes away from yourself and others.
The lab safety exercise is important to future lab exercises. Knowing the lab safety guidelines will
keep others, yourself, equipment, and facilities safe from danger and destruction. If students didn t
know the lab safety guidelines, bad things would happen such as destroy equipment, damage
equipment, personal injury, or even death. Knowing how to handle these lab safety rules will help
students in the future. Lab safety is a major characteristic of every lab based science class. Lab

Insanity And Detachment Of Order

30 May 2017 Insanity and Detachment of Order
Insanity is a field of behaviours characterized by abnormal mental or behavioural patterns. It may
be apparent as violations of societal norms, including a person becoming a danger to themselves or
others. In modern usage, insanity is mostly seen as a term implying mental instability. Insanity is a
recurring theme in Timothy Findley s fictions. While he does not dispute its existence, the author
brings into question its meaning and its role, as well as the values of the societies that seek to
define it. Findley brings into question the meaning of this theme, both in a narrative context within
his books and as a term in itself and within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both cases, the theme of insanity creates a detachment of societal norms. Hooker s hint of
insanity develops at the beginning of the book, when he goes on to describe the conditions in
which he lives in, and goes on to state that his ...house was just on the outskirts of town, unlike
the rest of the town s people. All through the house they closed doors and drew shades, they got
dead quiet. That is how his father liked it after Jessie came home (Findley 9). This life of
isolation has already given Hooker the incentive to detach from society, as he is constantly seen
as a character that has trouble with understanding societal ideals. He is seen as a character who
has been forced to detach from society when his mother Jessie comes home wanting to live in
isolation after the miscarriage of her unborn child; therefore allowing some of his mothers
negative behaviours about life to rub off on him. Through the characterization of Hooker, Findley
explores the vice potential of such a subject, who becomes the servant of destruction of the social
structures that produced him. In Julie Salem Wiseman s essay Insanity Begins at Home: Madness
in the Family in Timothy Findley s Last of the Crazy People, she states that Findley creates a
Laingian portrait of how a disordered and degenerate social reality of which the Winslows
especially Hooker are an extreme representation produces subjects who have not only internalized
the social pathology that has formed them but also use the

The Effects Of Social Anxiety On Higher Education
To begin we take a look at two studies that were done on college students and the effects of social
anxiety in higher education, researchers were able to conclude that social anxiety does have an
impact on the wellbeing and success of students in each study. In our first study, students from
Sydney, Australia, were accessed using many psychological tests, scales, and inventories to obtain
scores for accurate study. The topic of the study is Impairments in Goal directed actions that predict
treatment response to cognitive behavioral therapy in social anxiety. The participants who were
involved gave written consent to be a part of this study, and those who were on medications were
properly stabilized before participation began. This study involved showing participants fractal
images of food as a reward to measure goal directed actions in predicting treatment response to
cognitive behavioral therapy (Alvares, G. A., Balleine, B. W., Guastella, A. J. (2014). Anxiety
has
been argued to be related to an inability to process rewarding information appropriately to guide
actions (Alvares, et. al, 2014) and changes in outcome values (Alvares, et.al, 2014). The results
found that those who had a social anxiety disordershowed higher impairments in goal directed
action that predicted poorer response to treatment (Alvares, et.al, 2014). The participants were
given a test of how much a reward affected the outcome of goal directed actions. Those who kept

Stress Management Techniques Analysis
The four techniques that I used to help manage my stress were art therapy, time management
/scheduling, social support and doing a hobby to take my mind off of stressors. I was hesitant to
practice these techniques because I feel like I am able to manage my stress well anyways, but as I
started consciously using these techniques, I realized that my mindwas a lot clearer and I did not
feel as overwhelmed. I was already doing these techniques on a smaller scale, but when I decided
to go all out and focus on using them, I realized that I was not that good at managing my stress, I
was just used to having this stress in my life.

Some benefits that I received when I practiced the stress management techniques were that I was
able to worry less and have a clearer mind. I was able to spend my time taking care of what causing

techniques because I thought that it was pointless and that I did not need them. I eventually
decided to try them out because I need to do it for this assignment and I figured that it could not
be any more hurtful than helpful and it did not take too much effort. The first technique that I
practiced was art therapy and I came to love it. I taught myself how to watercolor paint and now
I can paint for hours at a time. When I paint I focus on what I am doing and all of my worries
escape my mind. I am so focused that my mind does not have room to think about the stressors

Life Defined by a Single Moment in Scarlet Letter, Red...
A Life Defined by a Single Moment in Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, Stephen Crane s Red Badge
of Courage, and Dostoevsky s Crime and Punishment
Life can be changed by a decision made during a single moment. Despite the natural gifts of
courage or intelligence of a person, a single mistake can isolate him from the rest of society. In
one case this can be cause by public conception. The public believes that this person is morally
inferior and singles out that person for ridicule. However, it can also be self imposed isolation.
Either way, that person cannot rejoin his society until he has redeemed himself.
In Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, both kinds of moral isolation are examined. Hester Prynne is
placed in the public s scorn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, a mark that resembles an A appears on his chest as a symbol of his guilt, and while
Hester grows stronger because of her redemptive acts, Dimmesdale grows weaker because he has
believed all of his life that confession is the only relief from guilt. He tries to rationalize his
omission to his congregation by telling himself that he will serve the people better as a preacher, but
he is an intelligent man and cannot convince himself of a lie. After seven years of physical and
mental depreciation, he can only find redemption by joining Hester on the scaffold and revealing
his own scarlet letter. For Hester and Dimmesdale s one lapse in judgment and self control, their
lives were completely changed.
Henry in The Red Badge of Courage is an example of a person whose life is changed due to a
brief moment of cowardice. Though his original intention was to join the army and to become a
hero, when he is first confronted with a real battle, he runs. Once he regains his senses, he is
terribly ashamed and does his best not to reveal his momentary desertion to the other soldiers. His
relief comes from what he believes to be a heroic deed. When he goes into battle again, instead of
running, he settles into a rhythm of loading and firing his gun until the enemy had retreated and his
own army had stopped shooting. Though this reaction stems from the same fear that caused him to
run, Henry

The Apology Of Plato s The Iliad
Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. These famous words,
spoken by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his first inaugural address, have famously
resonated throughout history, and although they were said nearly 2000 years after the events of
Plato s The Apology, they perfectly correspond with what is perhaps the most noteworthy moment
of the Platos text. The Apology is Plato s recounting of Socratestrial, in which he faced charges of
corrupting the youth, and believing in Gods different than the Gods of the state of Athens. In the
trial, Socrates makes his argument as to why he should be found innocent of all the charges placed
upon him. One of the most interesting arguments that Socrates makes in his defense is comparing
himself to Achilles, the great Greek warrior from Homer s The Iliad. He makes this comparison
multiple times in his argument, and although it may seem like Socratic irony for the short, fat,
philosopher to compare himself to a great Warrior, Socrates is completely serious in his
comparison. He used a comparison between himself and Achilles as an analogy to represent his
immense motivation to Philosophy. Achilles, living in an honor culture, was willing to die over
what he believed was right, and Socrates was no different in that regard.
After his service in war, Socrates dedicated his life to pursuing the many truths of the world. His
reputation as a philosopher grew, and he soon discovered the Oracle of

Actions Caused by Cognitive Dissonance Essay
If I chose to do it or say it, I must believe in it. asserts the psychologist Leon Festinger (as cited in
Psychology: Eighth Edition in Modules, 2007, p.731). When we become aware that our actions
contradict our attitudes, we tend to revise our attitudes. This statement fits Festinger s cognitive
dissonance theory that asserts that we act to reduce discomfort or dissonance, an unpleasant
tension, we experience when two of our thoughts or cognitions are inconsistent. Mkimmie, et al.
(2003) investigated the impact of social support on cognitive dissonancearousal in their experiment,

Dissonance. The psychologists aimed to test the impact of social... Show more content on

The fact that the level of dissonance assessed in terms of attitude change was greatest for
participants given no support, but only when a shared group membership was made salient, proved
their first hypothesis. The participants subjected to the highest levels of dissonance, through a high
salience and nonsupport condition, distanced themselves from the group as the second hypothesis
predicted. Overall, the main point of this research was to examine the role of social support in the
arousal and reduction of cognitive dissonance. The researchers conducted this experiment in an
effort to augment rather than change current understanding of the dissonance phenomena; however,
this theory does not expand the current understanding of dissonance because it does not provide
concrete, reliable evidence of how group support can reduce cognitive dissonance. Also the
researchers did not test a random or a representative sample and inferred dissonance solely from
surveys that measured attitude change. The fact that surveys were used as the main method to
ascertain the self reported attitudes or behaviors of people weakens the theory s reliability and
validity. The wording and order of the questions could have had a major affect on how the subjects
responded and possibly skewed the researcher s central data. Additionally, the researchers did not
use a direct method to detect dissonance; instead, they merely inferred the presence of dissonance
exclusively from surveys

Stereotypes In A Rose For Emily
The background of my verbal visual is an open window, representing the room that Emily s
sweetheart, Homer Barron, was found in. This represents the switch in gender roles and the
breaking of stereotypes in the story, thus I believed it was a great way to tie in A Rose For
Emily with the feminist lens. Due to the stereotype that men are supposed to be dominant and
aggressive, to see Emily turn her back and murder Homer was quite the reversal of these
stereotypes. Also, I included a photo of a human hand and skeleton hand as well as a skull head to
embody the immortal relationship Emily strove for with Homer, which is definitely not a very lady

My Life Has Me Thinking Essay
Currently, life has me thinking what a difference a year makes . You see, exactly a year ago I
was starting Graduate School at the Simmons College School of Social Work. In addition, I was
living with the girl I believed I was going to marry. Today, one year later I am now single and
have been dismissed from the Simmons College program without finishing my degree. However, I
did not let the circumstances allow me to give up, because I am resilient. Resiliency is an important
concept we teach our clients/community within the realm of Social Work. My year of 2016 has
reminded me how vital it is to be resilient.
My dream to become an LICSW Family Therapist/Marriage Counselor is taking a different route
than my original plan. My undergraduate career followed a long road with a lot of uncertainty.
Uncertain of: if college was for me, and if so, what I wanted to study, and if not, what exactly I
wanted to do for a career. After my freshman, year in college, I decided college was not for me.
Then the year 2000 came. My high school classmates were graduating from college and landing
careers, while I was jumping from job to job. I made the decision to return to college in 2001 and
graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2008. Before graduating, while still in college, I
moved to New York in 2006 and started my career in Social Services at Graham Windham, a non
profit foster care agency. This is when I learned about the field of social work.

Purpose Of Prayer In Public Schools
My Position
Ever since prayer was eradicated from the public school system, the quality of education has shown
a constant statistical deterioration. Society presumes that the supernatural is nonexistent and that
reality must be a dentist side based solely on man s interpretation. By reentering prayer into school,
it would acknowledge the presence of something higher than man. By granting prayer in school, a
crucial standard is set. It shows students that they are more than just a clump of random cells
aimlessly wandering the earth. Prayer is an action that trumpets that life is more than success.
Prayer is heavily opposed because it serves as an antithesis to the beliefs of those who create the
policies for the public school system (Creation Today). An underlying purpose of public education
is to frame honorable civilians. The majority of the American people are... Show more content on

in which psychiatrists and other physicians observe, and interpret the relationship between religion
and spirituality and in clinical approaches. Using multivariate logistic regression analysis, the
authors examined the comparison of psychiatrists to other physicians to evaluate different religious
and demographic characteristics. This study was conducted in the form of surveys in which the
authors mailed to a random sample of 2000 practicing physicians, as well as an over sampling of
psychiatrists. Approximately 1,144 physicians completed the survey. The findings showed that
psychiatrists generally demonstrate positive influence when it comes to acknowledging religion and
spirituality on health. Based on the results of the survey 82% versus 42% stated compared to other
physicians, psychiatrists are more likely to note that religion and spirituality sometimes influence
negative emotions which cause patients to suffer more, and 92 73% stated that psychiatrists
compared to other physicians are most likely to encounter religion conversations with their patient,
and 92% versus 52% say feel that it is important and appropriate for people to talk open with their

Trenton Leadership Style Analysis
Leadership
Review of Subject
Leadership has a variety of meanings to different individuals, often based upon the circumstance
and situation which defines the term leader or leadership. Northouse (2016) defines leadership as,
a process by which an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. (p.
6). Sammi Caramella writes, Leadership is critical to every company. Workers need someone to
look to, learn from and thrive with. Every leader has their own style and strategy. Further,
leadership styles and methods vary because of outside influences and personal challenges. While
leadership is unique to everyone, there are some common ways to define the term. (2017).

A skills approach takes a leader centered perspective on leadership with more emphasis on the
skills and abilities that an individual can learn. Using Katz s 1955 model, the three skill approach
suggests that effective leadership depends on three essential personal skills: technical, human, and

Philosophers and figures have invoked this dichotomy in critical and creative works. Both are one

Apollonian is the god of reason and the rational, while the Dionysian is the god of the irrational and

Chapala Lake which lies in Jalisco are negatively affected. Over the past two decades, the
transfer of water from external sources to Mexico City has resulted in the historic decrease of
water levels of freshwater bodies, including Chapala Lake. In the last years of the twentieth
century it was estimated that Chapala Lake s water levels dropped about five meters (Ezcurra and
Mazari Hiriart, 1996).
Water has become such a scarce necessity that the city is now taking larger amounts of water
from the Cutzamala and Lerma River Basins. Mexico City does provide for itself a decent
amount of water approximately seventy percent (Tortajada and Castelan, 2003). Even though
Mexico City supports itself with water from the basin it lies in Basin of Mexico it does so with
repercussions. The most difficult problems the city is facing occur because the groundwater is
being mined: they are removing more than naturally flows in. Mexico City is situated on a dry
lake bed, and it is suffering from soil subsidence. They are overdrafting groundwater so much that
the city sinks at an average rate of thirty centimeters each year (Alcocer and Williams, 1996).

There are many reasons for educational underachievement and it has been said that ethnicity is one
of these key factors. It has been found that Indian and Asian pupils are of higher educational
achievement than White, African Caribbean, and Black, Pakistani and Bangladeshi pupils.
One possible cause of ethnic differences in education could be at the fault of the education system.
To investigate this Sewell conducted a study using semi structured interviews and observations in
an inner city boys comprehensive school, his study revealed the ways in which African Caribbean
students are labelled by their teachers, peers, white students as problems in the classroom. Sewell
showed how Black boys use these negative perceptions to construct ... Show more content on

For example, the home of a pupil is a primary agent in their socialisation and education and this
therefore has the biggest impact on the pupil so when at school they will either be handicapped or
at an advantage from their upbringing. For example, Modood argued that some ethnic minorities
have higher levels of cultural capital, despite often being from a working class background. Many
Indians and Asians originate from working class backgrounds even though they end up with middle
class jobs. These parents therefore place particularly high values on educational success and contain
the knowledge and understanding of education to motivate their children and help them to succeed.
Strand also investigates ethnicity and achievement in education, he compared the progress of
Indian, African Caribbean and white British pupils in their secondary education. Strand found that
Indian children made more positive progress than the white British students but African Caribbean
pupils fell even further behind. Strand found the Indian s success was due to both material and
cultural factors such as high aspirations and dedication to homework, low levels of truancy and
exclusion and good resources at home such as computers and private tutoring.
However there was no evidence that African Caribbean parents and pupils adopted a culture that
would hold them back in their educational success, they had high aspirations and a positive attitude
to school. Overall his research found

Analyzing The Film Gladiator
My film I watched was Gladiator. It was an action movie as opposed to a documentary about war. It
was based in Rome in the early times.
In the movie, the emperor of Rome was Marcus Aurelius. He was a very victorious general. After
his death he wanted Maximus to take the throne, and he wasn t even his son. Aurelius s son was
very power hungry and wanted to rule. His plan was to rule Rome and take the throne. He wanted
to murder the last ruler Marcus Aurelius and then execute Maximus, which was the new emperor
after so then he would be next in line. Maximus then escaped the execution but was then sold into
slavery. From there he was forced into being a gladiator. He was trained by Proximo. Later they
were sent off to Rome to perform a lot of

John Cook Imperialist Attitude
Cook s imperialist attitude may have very well, led to his demise. His initial behavior of beginning
trade with the Hawaiians, dismantling of sacred structures, and his strategic use of Lono was not
have directly caused his death, these interactions certainly cause the stressing of the relationship
between the Europeans and the native people as the Europeans outstayed their welcome. Trade
efforts were successful at the outset, the trading of iron goods to the Hawaiians gave the group
power and strength through the tools allowing them to match the battle efforts of the Europeans, to
an extent. Scholars claim that Cook s imperialist attitude caused his actions to be rude and

Almost all depictions show European sailors in small numbers in boats with guns and countless
Hawaiians on the shore with spears. The key difference is the positioning of Cook, in some
depictions Cook appears to be holding up a hand to his crew ordering them to stop their fire and
trying to flee the island while a Hawaiian man is stabbing him in the back and in other depictions
Cook is face to face with the mob of Hawaiians, threateningly holding a gun with a dead
Hawaiian man at his feet. In the artistic depictions that show Cook as ordering his crew to stop
their fire, while Cook is stabbed in the back, the point of view that Cook was a heroic figure is
brought to life. It can be assumed that the artist was painting from the perspective that Cook was
vouching for a diplomatic and peaceful way of resolving the dispute and fairly wanted his cutter
to be returned, falling victim to the unintelligent, savage, and brutish ways of the native people. In
the depiction that shows Cook with a gun, engaging the Hawaiians face to face, with a dead
(native) body at his feet, the point of view of the Hawaiians is more clearly shown with Cook as
an instigator, who took advantage of the Hawaiians in his time on the island, and who reacted
unproportionately to the theft of the cutter with the kidnapping of Kaawola Kalei opu u. The first
depiction seems unlikely

There is no limit to desire but desire s needs. (Grendel, Chapter 7) This is basically the main idea
of the book; Grendel s desire to fit in with the humans. But before getting into that, here s some
background on the book. Grendel is the story of the Battle between the monster Grendel and the
Scandinavian King Hrothgar, told through the eyes of the monster. The story highlights the various
encounters between the monster and the men who hate and fear him but who are powerless to do

An Overview Of Business Intelligence
An Overview of Business Intelligence All great organizations share one thing in common, the use of
business intelligence. Business intelligence (BI) provides tools that revolutionize the way
organizations manage business and decision making. It allows them to transform mass amounts of
raw data into reliable information necessary to make important business decisions. BI delivers
relevant and reliable information to those who seek it with the goal of achieving better decisions
faster. An employee is independently able to navigate through a company s data and find what he
or she needs without relying on others. This means an organization no longer needs to dig through
compiled webs of linked spreadsheets, analyze the data manually and mash together reports.
Instead, employees can use BI systems to request the specific information that is useful for them
(Hitachi Solutions Canada, 2014). BI allows managers to reach the most accurate and
contemporaneous information an organization s database cannot retrieve. The software offers
applications for both data analysis and presentation of results. Applications such as data mining and
decision support systems allow one to contemplate how he or she wants to analyze the data. Data
mining refers to the process of searching for valuable business information in a large database, data
warehouse, or data mart. Decision support systems combine models and data in an attempt to
analyze semi structured and some unstructured problems with

Comparing Valentine And To His Coy Mistress
Compare Carol Ann Duffy s Valentine to Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress In this
assignment I will be comparing two love poems Carol Ann Duffy s Valentine to Andrew Marvell
s To His Coy Mistress . The poem Valentine was written is the twentieth century and in it the
speaker uses onion as a metaphor to show her love. The poem To His Coy Mistress was written in
the seventeenth century and is about the poet trying to persuade his Mistress to sleep with him.
Valentine by Carol Ann Duffy is very different to any other love poem as you would expect to read
something romantic, instead she writes about an onion. The poem is divided into four main stanzas

She explains that she does not wish to be unkind. She is being realistic. I m trying to be truthful.
Not a cute card or a kiss o gram she does not believe in giving commercial tokens of love like a

metaphor. Its fierce kiss will stay on you lip the bitter taste on an onion remains on a person s
lips. The memory of a kiss can stay with one forever. Possessive and faithful as we are, for as
long as we are She suggests that love affairs only last for the time that two people are interested
in each other or it could mean till they die. The fourth stanza carries on with the extended
metaphor as she insists that he accepts her gift Take it . She compares the loops of an onion to a
wedding ring and implies that marriage can deaden love and passion. Marriage is lethal in her
opinion. In the extended metaphor she expresses her feeling, sometimes people never recover
from a broken romance. They will continue to experience heartache, pain, bitterness. Its scent
will cling to your fingertips, cling to your knife. The repetition of the word cling is effective.
The word knife conveys the image of a wound. The poet has obviously been hurt in previous
relationships. As we just saw above the title of the poem is Valentine s and we first expect it to be

Although the Minoan people lived during the Bronze Age, their works of art encompassed many

The Minoan octopus flask is a ceramic flask or jug made in Palaikastro, Crete, and stands at 11

going to cost to find a method to become immortal, once discovered, like all medicine, how much
will it cost you to buy it and own it for yourself or a love one. Modern medicine now in days is

Eating Disorders Are Serious Disorders
Eating disorders are serious disorders that have a negative impact on both the psychological and
the physiological well being of the afflicted (Welch, Ghader, Swenne, 2015). Studies concerning
eating disorders are showing more and more frequency in younger age groups and especially in
those who are athletes, diabetics, and obese adolescents (Martin Golden, 2014). This tells us that
symptoms of eating disorders can be caught and treated during adolescence. Today, many schools
have very little class time dedicated to educating students about healthy lifestyles. Little, to no
information is given about what eating disorders are or how to avoid the development of one. If
information is provided about the prevention of eating disorders, it is usually in the form of a
video or discussed briefly in a textbook. Schools are not doing enough in the fight against the
development of eating disorders. Many studies have shed some light on the issue of eating
disorders by conducting surveys and developing new programs to use in schools. The primary
prevention of eating and body image problems among young people, and in particular, adolescents,
is emerging as one of the most desirable achievements in contemporary health and nutrition(O Dea
J. , 2000). Primary prevention programs, and better education in general, for the prevention of
eating disorders and promotion of healthy lifestyles needs to be established in schools. The
purpose of this paper is to propose more education

A)The purpose of this article is to explain an investigation attempting to correlate negative
behavioral effects observed in adult male fighting fish, Betta splendens, with exposure to
waterborne phytoestrogens. The phytoestrogens the B. splendens were exposed to were genistein,

monitoring spontaneous swimming movements, amount of time it took to react to an alleged
intruder, amount of aggression toward that alleged intruder, likelihood of building a nest whilst

been no research done on the behavioral biomarkers resulting from waterborne phytoestrogens as an

that will turn out to be a good thing. In the beginning I thought this was a program for youth to
attend voluntarily, and I thought most of the attendees would be from families with foster or
kinship care. I was wrong, as most of the attendees were from group homes around Ames and they
were there as part of their recovery process. This shocked me a little but in just the short amount of
time I spent with them I grew to really like them. I think that often youth in group homes are
stigmatized and thought of as bad kids, when in reality most of them just haven t had the support
they need or grew up in poor environments that lead them to where they are.

Foucault Discipline And Punishment
When reading this piece, I noticed that book is all about how important and integrated prison is a
main part of our society around the world. It shows how it is impossible to get rid of them, mostly
because of the fact that there is no alternative to prisons really out there, and just like the title
suggests prisons are the main form of Discipline and Punishment. Foucault s main argument is that
modern society, mostly referencing France, are based on the idea of individual liberty. As prison
deprives people of their liberty choices and leaving them in confinement leads to it being the most
ethical punishment. Most importantly, the systems of discipline, and observation that go around
inside a prison extend outside its walls. Although Foucault... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I feel that There are two images, then, of discipline. At one extreme, the discipline blockade, the
enclosed institution, established on the edges of society, turned in wards towards negative
functions: arresting evil, breaking communications, suspending time. At the other extreme, with
panopticons, is the discipline mechanism: a functional mechanism that must improve the exercise
of power by making it lighter, more rapid, more effective, a design of subtle coercion for a society
to come. The movement from one project to the other, from a schema of exceptional discipline to
one of a generalized surveillance, rests on a historical transformation: the gradual extension of the
mechanisms of discipline throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, their spread
throughout the whole social body, the formation of what might be called in general the disciplinary
society. (209) Which indeed is a very large mouth full. Although this is a lot for one quote I think it
was essential to quote in the explanation of this paper. The reason being is that it shows two
extremes on the spectrum of punishment and discipline. One being solitary confinement or
discipline blockade or the other being Panopticons formulated by Mr.Foucault. Panopticons being a

Jerusalem by William Blake, the title of this poem, references the city of Jerusalem. The holy
land for the Christian and Islamic religion. William Blake was religious during his lifetime (as it
showed in many of his poems) and it was said that he had visions of god and archangels in his
childhood. So as simple as the title may seem, it symbolizes the ideas that Blake had towards
religion. Blake might also talk about how England invaded Jerusalem, and it would depend on his
viewpoint, if he thinks of it positively, or something that goes against his beliefs. It could also be

The journal that I chose to read was Effect Of Communication On Nurse Patient Relationship In
National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, Arungwa. This journal demonstrates the importance
of nurse patient communication and how nurse patient communication effects the outcomes of the

two or more people. Nurse patient communication needs to exhibit feelings and recognition of those
feelings so that the patient knows that their feelings have been recognized. According to this
journal, most patients stated that their nurses initiated conversation, listened attentively but did not
show empathy or see the situation from the patients point of view. By not showing empathy or

Red Wheelbarrow By William Carlos Williams Paradoxes And...
The relationship between language and meaning is an important concept in literature and in
particular poetry. This relationship is shown through the poems The Red Wheelbarrow by
William Carlos Williams (1923) and also Paradoxes and Oxymorons by John Ashbery (1981). In
The Red Wheelbarrow , Williams uses many poetic features of language such as assonance and
imagery whilst John Ashbery uses predominantly direct address and also poetic fetters such as
enjambment. The two poems, at first may not seem to have connections nor similarities, however
one poetic feature neither use is a rhyme scheme and also both poets seem to want to involve the
reader in some way such as Williams encourages us to use our imagination to find meaning.
Similarly Ashbery suggests that without a reader, no meaning can be made of, or interpreted from
the poem. The Red Wheelbarrow by William Carlos Williams is a single sentence poem separated

The poem itself is constructed of a single sentence that s been broken up into four couplets. The
opening line may imply that so much depends upon each line of the poem itself, in terms of
gaining an understanding of the meaning. This line is also an important feature in the poem as it
also enforces the idea to the reader that so much depends upon the wheelbarrow itself and yet
forces the reader to think about what depends upon the red wheelbarrow (Mcdonald:2005:pg 78).
Due to the lack of punctuation in the poem, and also the simplicity and shortness of the poem,
means that as a reader we must make and find meaning in what little the poem gives us to find it,
hence so much depends on what the poet gives us in order for the language used to create

The lighting was also used effectively in many parts. For example, the lights when down

Aladdin rubbed the lamp as the lights went out, then a swirling image moved around in circles

The Pros And Cons Of Total War
Almost 70 years has being passed since the last world war was declared its end. These days, it is
said that if the third world war is occurred in the current world, it should be a total warfare with
nuclear weapons (Gunn, 2004:70). In general the World War II (WWII) is often considered as a
case of total war; now, there can be a question about the existence of total war in the world history.
The essay is going to discuss the statement, the WWII is a complete example of total war, with
referring to definitions of total war and a comparison between the WWI and WWII. Basically
according to the oxford dictionary, there are several elements which link to total war, which are

On these two points, Gunn (2004) strongly suggested that the WWII was surely a total war
without any pieces of morality human beings should have. This is a reason that civilians
without any means of fights are considered as acceptable armies target due to the efforts by
citizens for their national ability to wage war (Gunn, 2004:66). What can be the most important
tip here is a distinction from the sentence, involving all of the people to encourage their national
ability to wage the war. This is because that the idea is not able to define the WWII only as a
total war; in other word, it also fits for the situation of the WWI. Especially at the time of WWI in
the Britain, tons of women was sent to factories that manufactured military planes and atomic
bombs instead of male labours sent to battlefields (Marwick, 1968). Furthermore, even in other
countries during both WWI and II, young children and women were actively encouraged to
support their nation as not only manufactory workers but also nursing staffs who would be
dispatched toward actual battle ground. Even there is an exceptional example, Japanese law of
total war in 1925. The difference between WWI and II, which should be focused on, is that non
resisting citizens, towns or cities not defended were not basically considered as targets of

  • 4. The State Of Eastland s Waste Disposal Regulation SUMMARY OF ARGUMENT The decision of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals should be affirmed. The state of Eastland s waste disposal regulation is neither discriminatory nor protectionist. Historically, businesses and professionals know that licensing requirements and authority belong solely to states and local governments. A state government does not violate the commerce clausewhen it sets licensing requirements for incineration and interment of fetal tissues pursuant to its autonomy and police powers in carrying out local activities that have always been its traditional function to ensure the health and safety of its citizens. Also, a state acts legitimately and fairly when having funded a public facility, with local taxpayers money, for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This case is distinguishable from Carbone, Inc. v. Clarkstown. Indeed, it is hard to imagine two cases that are factually more distinct, as Carbone involved a state favoring a single private business and our case involves simply a government pursuing a legitimate interest, not for profit nor to favor any private entity. C A Carbone v. Town of Clarkstown, 511 U.S. 383, 387 (1994). Petitioners concede that they are strictly in the business for profit. And it s a widely known fact that when people engage in endeavors solely for profit that usually remains their preoccupation. Besides, all private providers, both in state and out of staters are free without restriction to operate in all other regions of the state where there are no state run facilities. Nevertheless, the regulation is strictly nondiscriminatory and absolutely does not impose an undue burden on interstate commerce far from it. Our instant case is analogous to United Haulers Ass n v. Oneida Hertimer Solid Waste Mgmt. Auth. where the County required all waste collectors to deliver all solid waste to processing facilities that are operated by a public entity. There, the court held that such regulation did not violate the commerce clause because the ordinance clearly benefited only a public facility, while treating all private companies exactly the same. In reality, the largest nuclear threat comes not from foreign attack, but from a much closer enemy: nuclear power. Nuclear power is very dangerous, and should be done away with. The nuclear age dawned in 1945, when the United States dropped atomic bombs on two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bombing had at least two effects: the Japanese surrender, bringing World War II to a swift end; and many people in the United States, especially scientists and officials involved in the development of atomic bombs, were awed, frightened and filled with guilt over the ... Insanity And Detachment Of Order Melissa Ranieri Mrs. Sakotic ENG4U1 30 May 2017 Insanity and Detachment of Order Insanity is a field of behaviours characterized by abnormal mental or behavioural patterns. It may be apparent as violations of societal norms, including a person becoming a danger to themselves or others. In modern usage, insanity is mostly seen as a term implying mental instability. Insanity is a recurring theme in Timothy Findley s fictions. Hooker s hint of insanity develops at the beginning of the book, when he goes on to describe the conditions in which he lives in, and goes on to state that his ...house was just on the outskirts of town, unlike the rest of the town s people. All through the house they closed doors and drew shades, they got dead quiet. That is how his father liked it after Jessie came home (Findley 9). This life of isolation has already given Hooker the incentive to detach from society, as he is constantly seen as a character that has trouble with understanding societal ideals. He is seen as a character who has been forced to detach from society when his mother Jessie comes home wanting to live in isolation after the miscarriage of her unborn child; therefore allowing some of his mothers negative behaviours about life to rub off on him. Through the characterization of Hooker, Findley explores the vice potential of such a subject, who becomes the servant of destruction of the social structures that produced him. In Julie Salem Wiseman s essay Insanity Begins at Home: Madness in the Family in Timothy Findley s Last of the Crazy People, she states that Findley creates a Laingian portrait of how a disordered and degenerate social reality of which the Winslows especially Hooker are an extreme representation produces subjects who have not only internalized the social pathology that has formed them but also use the ... The Effects Of Social Anxiety On Higher Education To begin we take a look at two studies that were done on college students and the effects of social anxiety in higher education, researchers were able to conclude that social anxiety does have an impact on the wellbeing and success of students in each study. In our first study, students from Sydney, Australia, were accessed using many psychological tests, scales, and inventories to obtain scores for accurate study. The topic of the study is Impairments in Goal directed actions that predict treatment response to cognitive behavioral therapy in social anxiety. The participants who were involved gave written consent to be a part of this study, and those who were on medications were properly stabilized before participation began. This study involved showing participants fractal images of food as a reward to measure goal directed actions in predicting treatment response to cognitive behavioral therapy (Alvares, G. A., Balleine, B. W., Guastella, A. J. (2014). Anxiety has been argued to be related to an inability to process rewarding information appropriately to guide actions (Alvares, et. al, 2014) and changes in outcome values (Alvares, et.al, 2014). The results found that those who had a social anxiety disordershowed higher impairments in goal directed action that predicted poorer response to treatment (Alvares, et.al, 2014). The public believes that this person is morally inferior and singles out that person for ridicule. However, it can also be self imposed isolation. These famous words, spoken by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his first inaugural address, have famously resonated throughout history, and although they were said nearly 2000 years after the events of Plato s The Apology, they perfectly correspond with what is perhaps the most noteworthy moment of the Platos text. The Apology is Plato s recounting of Socratestrial, in which he faced charges of corrupting the youth, and believing in Gods different than the Gods of the state of Athens. In the trial, Socrates makes his argument as to why he should be found innocent of all the charges placed upon him. One of the most interesting arguments that Socrates makes in his defense is comparing himself to Achilles, the great Greek warrior from Homer s The Iliad. He makes this comparison multiple times in his argument, and although it may seem like Socratic irony for the short, fat, philosopher to compare himself to a great Warrior, Socrates is completely serious in his comparison. He used a comparison between himself and Achilles as an analogy to represent his immense motivation to Philosophy. Achilles, living in an honor culture, was willing to die over what he believed was right, and Socrates was no different in that regard. After his service in war, Socrates dedicated his life to pursuing the many truths of the world. His reputation as a philosopher grew, and he soon discovered the Oracle of ... When we become aware that our actions contradict our attitudes, we tend to revise our attitudes. This statement fits Festinger s cognitive dissonance theory that asserts that we act to reduce discomfort or dissonance, an unpleasant tension, we experience when two of our thoughts or cognitions are inconsistent. The fact that the level of dissonance assessed in terms of attitude change was greatest for participants given no support, but only when a shared group membership was made salient, proved their first hypothesis. The participants subjected to the highest levels of dissonance, through a high salience and nonsupport condition, distanced themselves from the group as the second hypothesis predicted. Overall, the main point of this research was to examine the role of social support in the arousal and reduction of cognitive dissonance. The researchers conducted this experiment in an effort to augment rather than change current understanding of the dissonance phenomena; however, this theory does not expand the current understanding of dissonance because it does not provide concrete, reliable evidence of how group support can reduce cognitive dissonance. Also the researchers did not test a random or a representative sample and inferred dissonance solely from surveys that measured attitude change. The fact that surveys were used as the main method to ascertain the self reported attitudes or behaviors of people weakens the theory s reliability and validity. The wording and order of the questions could have had a major affect on how the subjects responded and possibly skewed the researcher s central data. Additionally, the researchers did not use a direct method to detect dissonance; instead, they merely inferred the presence of dissonance exclusively from surveys ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. An Overview Of Business Intelligence An Overview of Business Intelligence All great organizations share one thing in common, the use of business intelligence. Business intelligence (BI) provides tools that revolutionize the way organizations manage business and decision making. It allows them to transform mass amounts of raw data into reliable information necessary to make important business decisions. BI delivers relevant and reliable information to those who seek it with the goal of achieving better decisions faster. An employee is independently able to navigate through a company s data and find what he or she needs without relying on others. This means an organization no longer needs to dig through compiled webs of linked spreadsheets, analyze the data manually and mash together reports. Instead, employees can use BI systems to request the specific information that is useful for them (Hitachi Solutions Canada, 2014). BI allows managers to reach the most accurate and contemporaneous information an organization s database cannot retrieve. The software offers applications for both data analysis and presentation of results. Applications such as data mining and decision support systems allow one to contemplate how he or she wants to analyze the data. Data mining refers to the process of searching for valuable business information in a large database, data warehouse, or data mart. Decision support systems combine models and data in an attempt to analyze semi structured and some unstructured problems with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing Valentine And To His Coy Mistress Compare Carol Ann Duffy s Valentine to Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress In this assignment I will be comparing two love poems Carol Ann Duffy s Valentine to Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress . The poem Valentine was written is the twentieth century and in it the speaker uses onion as a metaphor to show her love. The poem To His Coy Mistress was written in the seventeenth century and is about the poet trying to persuade his Mistress to sleep with him. The memory of a kiss can stay with one forever. Possessive and faithful as we are, for as long as we are She suggests that love affairs only last for the time that two people are interested in each other or it could mean till they die. The fourth stanza carries on with the extended metaphor as she insists that he accepts her gift Take it . She compares the loops of an onion to a wedding ring and implies that marriage can deaden love and passion. Marriage is lethal in her opinion. In the extended metaphor she expresses her feeling, sometimes people never recover from a broken romance. They will continue to experience heartache, pain, bitterness. Its scent will cling to your fingertips, cling to your knife. The repetition of the word cling is effective. The word knife conveys the image of a wound. Eating Disorders Are Serious Disorders Eating disorders are serious disorders that have a negative impact on both the psychological and the physiological well being of the afflicted (Welch, Ghader, Swenne, 2015). Studies concerning eating disorders are showing more and more frequency in younger age groups and especially in those who are athletes, diabetics, and obese adolescents (Martin Golden, 2014). This tells us that symptoms of eating disorders can be caught and treated during adolescence. Today, many schools have very little class time dedicated to educating students about healthy lifestyles. Little, to no information is given about what eating disorders are or how to avoid the development of one. If information is provided about the prevention of eating disorders, it is usually in the form of a video or discussed briefly in a textbook. Schools are not doing enough in the fight against the development of eating disorders. Many studies have shed some light on the issue of eating disorders by conducting surveys and developing new programs to use in schools. The primary prevention of eating and body image problems among young people, and in particular, adolescents, is emerging as one of the most desirable achievements in contemporary health and nutrition(O Dea J. , 2000). Primary prevention programs, and better education in general, for the prevention of eating disorders and promotion of healthy lifestyles needs to be established in schools. It shows how it is impossible to get rid of them, mostly because of the fact that there is no alternative to prisons really out there, and just like the title suggests prisons are the main form of Discipline and Punishment. Foucault s main argument is that modern society, mostly referencing France, are based on the idea of individual liberty. As prison deprives people of their liberty choices and leaving them in confinement leads to it being the most ethical punishment. Most importantly, the systems of discipline, and observation that go around inside a prison extend outside its walls. Although Foucault... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel that There are two images, then, of discipline. At one extreme, the discipline blockade, the enclosed institution, established on the edges of society, turned in wards towards negative functions: arresting evil, breaking communications, suspending time. At the other extreme, with panopticons, is the discipline mechanism: a functional mechanism that must improve the exercise of power by making it lighter, more rapid, more effective, a design of subtle coercion for a society to come. The movement from one project to the other, from a schema of exceptional discipline to one of a generalized surveillance, rests on a historical transformation: the gradual extension of the mechanisms of discipline throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, their spread throughout the whole social body, the formation of what might be called in general the disciplinary society. This relationship is shown through the poems The Red Wheelbarrow by William Carlos Williams (1923) and also Paradoxes and Oxymorons by John Ashbery (1981). In The Red Wheelbarrow , Williams uses many poetic features of language such as assonance and imagery whilst John Ashbery uses predominantly direct address and also poetic fetters such as enjambment. The two poems, at first may not seem to have connections nor similarities, however one poetic feature neither use is a rhyme scheme and also both poets seem to want to involve the reader in some way such as Williams encourages us to use our imagination to find meaning. Similarly Ashbery suggests that without a reader, no meaning can be made of, or interpreted from the poem.
