Sacrifice In Charles Dickens A Tale Of Two Cites
Charles Dickens novel A Tale of Two Cites had multiple themes, motifs, symbols, and allusions built
around one or more characters, including the theme of no sacrifice, no victory. Sacrifices were used all
throughout the book whether it was to help a revolutionary mob overthrow the king and queen or to
say the husband of the person you love. Either way, they helped moved the plot along in a unique way
the only Charles Dickens was able to master. Charles Darnay was one of the few characters to make a
sacrifice but he sacrificed various things like his family name. Obviously, Charles was one of the last
people who wanted to be an Evremonde due to the cruel things his family did, including to his father
in law. However, he could have been apart of his family and be super rich. Thankfully for him, he
ditched his family, found Lucie, and had a father in law that would not hate him for what his family
did. Later on, he decided to make another sacrifice by telling Manette about his family, the family that
he had said should all be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for the revolution to have been successfully, a few powerful leaders, like the king and queen
of France, were going to have to be killed in order to prove the red caps point. Not only were
powerfully people killed but so was anyone who could possible be a threat to the revolution. After
capturing these people and putting them in jail, they would got to a trial where they were most likely
found guilty and then were killed. However, the red caps also had to make sacrifices of their own like
to starve themselves due to the expensive goods. This was explained when the wine casket bust out
into the streets and flooded them. The people were literally starved and had an unquenchable thirst for
blood, leading to the revolution. As history books have shown, the people had a successful revolution
and were able to create an new French

The Importance Of Leadership And An Organization
Leadership is both practical skills and research areas concerning the capability of an organisation or
individual to guide or lead other individuals, organisations or teams. It is a process of influencing
people socially where a person can register the support and aid of other individuals for the
accomplishment of common tasks (Kvalnes, 2014). This is when the interpersonal skills come into
use. Proper communication among all the hierarchies of the organisation is very important to achieve
the desired goals (Korde, Eckert, Nielsen Lazo Giffen, 2011).
Leadership is very important in any organisation to function smoothly. The goal of big and small
businesses is to maintain the satisfaction of their customers and clients. All successful businesses and
organisations need leaders who are effective (Tracy, 2014). Leaders in professional teams require
various essential skills that have a direct relation with how they cooperate with the other workers and
lead the teams to attain the targets and achieve high returns on investment. The leaders help in
communication and formulation of new, effective strategic decisions to reach the target or the desired
goals. Leaders need to be resilient and agile to focus on the socio political shifts and digital necessity
inside the organisation. Their correct and proper decisions help companies to survive and yield better
results during the crisis period. Maintaining a healthy relationship with the clients and the customers
can only be attained

Comparing Two Magazines Essay
Comparing Two Magazines
For my compare and contrast essay, I have decided to compare two magazines in the financial and
business world of entrepreneurs. The name of the first magazine is Small business opportunities and
the second magazine is Entrepreneurs Be your own boss
The theme of the first magazine is to highlight, how and what type of businesses to start and make
money without putting in much of the hard work. The very first page of the magazine shows an
absolute image of the man and women dressed up with lots of money and a road of success. The
magazine rapidity claims Sure ways to make money . It seems like editor is personally involved in
guaranteeing the success of the business with highlighting text displaying ... Show more content on

The cover page is much simpler yet attractive without any graphics simply saying Low cost businesses
you can start today .
The very first page is well displayed; it contains popular franchise information. The magazine takes a
step by step approach to guide an individual with general topics like How to start up and build a
business . It seems like editor has no bias towards the information presented. The emphasis of this
magazine is on the presenting more information about a product rather then just giving the monitory
figures.
The color and layout of the magazine is very simple and professional. Editor shows concern of
misleading ads and puts emphasis on starting small. Towards the middle of the magazine in which he
presents a simple but very well laid out table of the popular franchises, with topics like demographics,
startup cost and brief introduction of the provider. In the last part of the magazine editor has put
together a list of other sources and publication to inform and pursue readers to research more rather
have them jump to conclusion by just looking at inflated figures.
In conclusion, I have found that both of these magazines are very different and appeals to different
class of people. The first magazine is not for the startup businessman but for somebody who can sense
a foe or real business offer. The second magazine is a starting point for new entrepreneurs who want to
start small but need a peek into

Emirates Technological Factors
1.0 Introduction
One of the world s top best airlines, Emirates is the largest as it is in middle east, the company operate
flights from Dubai International Airport of over 3,000 flights every week (Keea Shila, 2013). Emirates
fly to more than 180 destination, to
80 countries in the world. The airline was founded during 1985 by Ahmed
Bin Saeed and began it services in aviation industry in mid October in 1985 with only two jets. Over
the years, the airline have been expanding, consisting of more than 130 aircrafts and over 50,000
employees who come from over 160 nationalities currently. Emirates had built up its Image along the

Even though it may not reduce cost as much, advance technology does improve Emirates operations.
After much innovations of 21st century technology, Emirates establish its first A380 airbus fleet in
2010 and still expanding. Not only it accommodate a huge number of passengers, the plane, but it also
uses Biofuel and quieter noise volume with thrust reversal engines, giving its passengers great flight
experience.
2.5 Environmental factor The world as we know it to be is recently very ill. Due to much effect of
human activity, global temperature is rising at a fast rate per year, which leads to serious changes in
climate and weather. This results in aviation industries to be badly affected as the changes will lead to
flight delays and bumper flights due to mid air turbulence. Thus Emirates does take this factor into
serious considerations and started carrying out its Go Green plan in 2011 to reduce emition of
greenhouse gases. Airplanes can cause an increase in greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2)
thus Emirates carry out its flight operations using Biofuel. Though its expensive, usage of Biofuels for
its engines does save for a better environment. Emirates also carried out a Recycling plan in 2009 by
recycling its jets of those that are old and out of

Why We Called Total War
The assassination brought many countries involved. WW I thus erupted in 1914. Every people of
Europe got involved, helping their country to win the war. Many new advanced weapons were created
during WWI. Air plans, poison gas, throwers, machine guns, armored tanks, and submarines were
used in war. WWI also had created political chaos, leading to the society in many changes. The Great
War, it is so called total war. The reason why it called total war is because the war involved many
nations, and also, every civilian were involved, too. Due to the eruption of the Great War is the first

Working in factories, driving big trunks or ambulances, and others joins the front lines to help injured
soldiers. Since this war engulfed many nations, they confronted the impact of food shortages. Most
soldiers had endured with starvation. Meanwhile other workers and peasants endured low wages that
could barely buy food because of the black market. The deterioration kept rising, and soldiers were
starting to be embittered and so the civilians, too. Eventually, the oppressive of resentful led to
rebellions that Europe falls into turmoil. In 1919 1920, the Peace of Paris, the series of treaties was
assigned. Despite this war ends quite baffling, the impact was tremendous. The war had changed the
social order, the treaties separated countries and created new countries, and because of the First War,
war furthered the development of mass society meaning that it leveled social classes...standardized
political thinking through wartime propaganda, and extended many political rights to women
(textbook 4th Ed, pg 869). Regarding WWI brought new techniques, not only things such as, radio
transmission, cinema, and air transport, but also artificial arms and weapons were introduced.

The Effects Of Bilingualism On Children And Adults Essay
Language, in its simplest form, provides humans a way to communicate with each other to express
needs, desires, and emotions in general. Without even thinking about it, speech is a tool that we use
every day at work or in casual conversation, and that our lives would be completely different without.
Humans learn a first language (L1) around the age of 1, and there is a sort of innateness for it to be
acquired our brains are ready for it. However, acquiring a second language can often times be a
different, and more difficult process for anyone who attempts to do so. But while it may be
challenging, the benefits of bilingualism are seemingly endless as it enables one to communicate with
a whole new group of people as well as helps in brain development in children and adults. It truly
opens up a door of possibility. So what is it about the process of learning a new language that makes it
so different? Our native language is the language that we first begin using and developing around the
age of 1 year old. In addition, if an L2 is learned during infancy then it is also considered a mother
tongue. Acquisition normally takes place during infancy and early childhood, at a time in which the
child is maturing physically and mentally, and is simultaneously acquiring many other skills and much
other knowledge of the world about him/her (Mace Matluck 697). When learning our first language, it
is not by any means an isolated task in comparison to when learning an L2 where there is

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Public Transportation
Public transportation is a system of transportation that the government offer for people who cannot use
private transportation. Previously, the primary motivation behind public transportation was to give low
income people a method for transportation with sensible costs. However, nowadays some private
companies changed this principle by using public transportation as a trade. Numerous individuals
believe that public transportation is essential for them and it make their lives easier, particularly
individuals who live in the urban communities. On the other hand, others believe that public
transportation has many disadvantages and it is not safe or comfortable for them. Public transportation

Cross Cultural Conflict in Organisations
Executive Summary
The purpose of this presentation is to identify the problems faced by Western managers telling eastern
managers that improvement in their business is needed. The case which the presentation is based on is
about cross cultural management and organisational strategy and improvement.
A delegate of an Australian consulting firm is given the task of heading up a pilot study in the
organisations Taiwanese and Indian offices with the aim of identifying the reasons for their slow
market growth and offering recommendations as to how to improve their performance.
The presentation on the case focuses on questions one and two of the designated case study questions.

Attempts are relationship building lacked on the part of both parties however more should have been
done by the consultant to actively engage the host country in order to gain their trust, respect and
support.
Clashes of Eastern v Western views of strategy were experienced. These views are all but opposite in
many areas. These differences included the likes of the way they made decisions, executed plans and
analysed their results. The best example as evidenced by the case study would be that fact that the
marketing manager, when asked by the consultant, failed to produce a formal marketing plan. The
consultant took this a sign of incompetence instead of seeking to better understand the reasoning
behind the difference.
Finally, from the presentation of the case study it is recommended that when entering a foreign
country one should make sure that whoever is sent to act as an expatriate in the host country has a
high level of cross cultural literacy. The person who is given the task should be adequately trained and
qualified who has ideally been to the host country destination beforehand. In this case this was
arguably not the case and the consultant who was the expatriate consequently had trouble both
understanding the culture and dealing effectively with the managing partners reactions and actions.
From this presentation it is recommended that anyone

The Freedom Of The United States
As we all know, freedom is a very meaningful word, and it has a variety expressions and definitions. I
can define the word freedom as liberty, independence, acting spontaneously, expressing yourself with
no fears, being positive and making your own choices. All people in the entire world like to be free
with no barrier or any kind of obstacles, emotionally and physically. Human beings deserve to be free
and live their life with no struggles. The most moment I felt entirely free is when I went back home to
my country, Morocco, to visit my family after a period living in the U.S.
I personally prefer to be free from any complications, but it s a pretty difficult in our society as a
Muslim girl to be permitted to do something without control. Moreover, we are prohibited for certain
things than in the US, for example going at night to have fun with friends or having a dinner at a late
hour. Since I got married, I decided to move and live with my husband because he works and live in
the US. In the beginning, it was a little hard for me to leave my parents and live in a far country than
my homeland. However, I realized that I will have a lot of opportunities and chances in the US such as
freedom. There are a lot of situations when I feel completely at liberty while I am living in the US, but
at the same time it s rare when I could feel open and relaxed from all the troubles, for instance, work
hard to satisfy my needs and study to achieve my goals and dreams.

gaming become somewhat passé in the eyes of many. This is because the industry is now experiencing
a strong cultural shift from the real life tables to the digital domain. Online casino gaming is now big
business in the UK and throughout Europe. More numbers are now seemingly looking to opt to

Netiquette
Netiquette refers to internet etiquette. This simply means the use of good manners in online
communication such as e mail, forums, blogs, and social networking sites to name a few. It is
important to use netiquette because communication online is non verbal. Most often online
communication consists of reading something someone else has taped. This type of communication
does not allow each person to see facial expressions, body language, or her intonation. Because of
this, messages can often be misinterpreted. By following netiquette, online communication becomes
clearer. Especially in business and career related online communications netiquette should be used to
ensure that correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation are put in place to project professionalism.
Netiquette also includes the use of emoticons such as   and others to explain an emoticon. In e

The Characteristics Of Emperor Akbar The Great And The...
As one of the most heavily documented areas of Indian painting, Mughal illustrations have left a
prominent mark in the history of illustrated and illuminated manuscripts. Combining various
characteristics from Persian, Indian and European influences, Mughal artists in conjunction with the
royal biographer, Abu l Fazl, created extraordinary bodies of work. Amongst the thousands of
illustrated manuscripts of the Mughal Empire, the Akbarnama, also known as the Book of Akbar , is
one of the most significant collections of its time. The piece documents the history of Akbar s reign
through various illustrations, such as The Court of Humayun in Exile, a folio from the first
manuscript, made in India, c. 1586 87. Without a doubt, the legacy left by the Mughal Empire has
fueled the acceptance and greater understanding of illustration to this day. From Emperor Babur to
Akbar the Great, the Mughal Empire s constant encouragement of Mughal drawing and painting,
solidifies and validates illustration as a worthy form of visual language. Emperor Babur s experience
as a philosopher and lover of nature, the style s cultural awareness of those who have come before,
and Akbar s extraordinary influence as a ruler, has greatly impacted the artistic and cultural life of
India.
Now, there is no doubt that Akbar the Great, born in 1542, is one of the largest influences on Indian
culture and art. As he took the position as emperor, he took the kingdom s skilled artists, craftsmen

needed. In true Kuya Bogie style, they created a tale of Josh as the hero saving the queen (his mother)
from the evil COMPUTER. Their story is basically the projection of what the child was feeling he was
fighting against the computer, which symbolized his mom s work,. Work , which was engulfing his
mom in its world where he was practically left out of the picture.
Often in Filipino families, the grandparents are the ones who are showering their grandchildren with
material things to the point of spoiling them. I usually see this scenario in my class. Lola or lolo is the
one attending the Parent Teacher Conference because the parents are just too busy with their work.
One student told me that his lola pays for all their trips abroad. She is the one feeling sad when her
grandson does not do well in school. How about mommy? Where is she? I asked. Always on the
phone. Since a lot of Filipino women are joining the workforce, the children often find themselves in
the care of their grandparents. There are pros and cons in this set up. The good thing is the children are
not just left with the yayas or in other countries the daycare. They are placed in the hands of family,
which is great. But this leaves the parents complacent with their child s well being. They feel

The Trade Activities Between Mainland China And Taiwan
Sunflower Movement in Taiwan The interaction of the trade activities between Mainland China and
Taiwan always successfully draws attention from the global, but this time the fuel is directly presented
in the manifesto of the Sunflower Movement 堅持,直到島嶼天光. The campaign of the occupation
lays the advantages as well as the disadvantages of the CSSTA under the sun stark naked;
unfortunately, the pact is already passed. The forced adoption by the KMT highlights the Ma
government s arbitrary abuse of the power and infringement of the human right, leading to the
constitutional crisis of the retrogression in democracy. It meanwhile stimulates civilians to ponder the
rebirth of democracy. (堅持,直到島嶼天光, see footnote , translation mine). People ... Show more

Mori readily points out what our government is doing is simply transforming Taiwan into another
Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of the People s Public China; everyone, to some extent,
knows what special means here. Accordingly, people gathered together, most of whom were students,
and were defending their homeland on March 18th, 2014. By occupying the legislature for over
twenty days, every one demonstrates the insistence on protecting the nation as well as the exploding
poll and is being, no more, silent to politics. There are, of course, incidents involving blood, but the
blood isn t the slaughter s blood; it comes from Taiwanese who are desperately withstanding the
injustice. The band, 滅火器Fire EX, sings for the Sunflower Movement, Dawn is near. We are braver
than before... Let s singing it out loud until the rays of hope [shine] upon everyone on this island...
Once the sun reaches the mountain, [t]hen it s time to go home (Island s sunrise). This song, within
simple words in Taiwanese, pictures the people never giving up, the police maintaining the order, and
others who devote themselves to protecting their home. As a consequence, no matter what comments
there are at the end of the entire event, this movement has shown the government their negligence to
what is truly in Taiwaneses mind, and it has also resulted in

Death Of A Salesman And The American Dream
The United States in the mid twentieth century was a time of change. In the 1960 s the civil rights and
women s rights were in their embryonic stages. All of these ideas coming together created the illusion
of The American Dream. Back then; the American dream was equated with freedom and material
prosperity, two concepts that ring true today. The definition of the American dream changes as society
in the United States changes, and the connotation and reality of the American Dream is disheartening.
Two literary compositions give a realistic outlook on what the American Dream really is. In Death of a
Salesman and The American Dream, Arthur Miller and Edward Albee masterfully relay the true nature
and ideologies of The American Dream. In theory, the American Dream is the idea that every person
residing in the United States of America should live a richer and fuller life, regardless of the class one
is born in. It is not a dream about cars, high wages, and a picket fence. The idea, for it to work, is
supposed to be that every man and woman in this beautiful country has the ability to gain the highest
class in their ability regardless of their previous background. The ability to achieve such high success
is based on academic success and hard work. In current times, it seems the American Dream has
become a pursuit of material objects. Citizens of the United States work countless hours to be able to
afford bigger cars, better homes, and the newest technologies. On the surface,

Comparing Dracula And The Dearg-Due By Bram Stoker
Dracula still maintains a strong connection to modern day readers through its similarities to female
vampire myths from Europe, most of them including the male characters dominating the females. The
Dearg Due, an Irish vampire, is an example of a creature similar to those in Stoker s novel. According
to Kim, an author on Got Ireland, the Dearg Due is a legendary beauty, with blood red lips and pale
blonde hair, however, before turning into a monster, she had been given to a cruel man and suffered
terrible mental and physical abuse at the hands of her new husband. 1 As a mortal, she had no
influence on her life, and was married off to a abominable man just so her power hungry father could
earn more money and a higher social status. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stoker s character Dracula may have extraordinary powers, but he also has many weaknesses, leaving
him with a vulnerable aspect. Van Helsing explains that there are ways to defeat the Count such as: the
garlic that we know of... this symbol, my crucifix... [and] the branch of wild rose on his coffin (Stoker
256, XVIII).2 Dracula is powerless when faced by these objects, giving Van Helsing and his group the
chance to destroy him. These items are able to block off a vampire s powers and protect citizens from
the attacks. Similarly, the Baobhan Sith, a banshee like vampire from the Scottish Highlands, also has
weaknesses. They like to prey on unsuspecting travelers, mostly men, who wish for female company.
As stated on Real Unexplained Mysteries, in a myth about the Baobhan Sith, it is stated that they will
dance with men and then start to shriek uncontrollably... and suddenly attack, but in the story, one man
gets lucky and is able to run away between two of the horses... to seek refuge between as they were all
wearing iron horseshoes. 3 The Baobhan Sith are afraid of iron and are unable to get past it. Both
creatures, Count Dracula and the Baobhan Sith, are powerful, but also have weaknesses that prevent
them from hurting people. These features make the characters more authentic and allow the

African Americans In The Help By Kathryn Stockett
One of the most inspirational and well known activists for blacks none as Rosa Parks once said I have
never been what you would call just an integrationist. I know I ve been called that... Integrating that
bus wouldn t mean more equality. Even when there was segregation, there was plenty of integration in
the South, but it was for the benefit and convenience of the white person, not us ( Parks ). This quote
is from a time when the color of peoples skin was more important than who the people really were and
a time where most blacks were treated terribly, the 1960s. For years, many authors have tried to write
books that captured just how poorly African Americans were treated. The Help by Kathryn Stockett is
one of the few books written by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The entire book was written to show the relationship between black maids and their white bosses.
Racism is shown throughout the entire book from many different people. One example of racism is
when a worker knocks on the door of a white woman s house to ask for water and where to go to the
bathroom. The door was answered by a black maid named Minny but the fear in his voice is obvious
when he says Beg a pardon, he say, but where... He stand there a minute, look down at his feet. Where
might I go to make water? (Stocket 23) Something as simple as using the bathroom was a big problem
for black workers because they knew if a white person were to catch them, they would be punished.
Just because of the color of their skin, black people were treated poorly and could not even use the
same bathroom. Another example of racism and discrimination is when a white woman, Miss Hilly
tells everyone that Minny is a stealing maid who cannot be trusted. Because it is the words of a white
woman against a black, everyone turns their back on Minny and she struggles to find a job. This is
shown when Minny says She telling everbody in town I m stealing! That s why I can t get no work!
That witch done turned me into the Smart Mouthed Criminal Maid a Hinds County (24). Whites had
so much control over the African Americans that if they did not like someone, they could say anything

HIPAA VIALATION
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 made it illegal to gain
access to personal medical information for any reasons other than health care delivery, operations, and
reimbursements (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 166). HIPAA legislation mandated strict controls on the
transfer of personally identifiable health data between two entities, provisions for disclosure of
protected information, and criminal penalties for violation (Clayton 2001). HIPAA also has privacy
requirements that govern disclosure of patient protected health information (PHI) placed in the
medical record by physicians, nurses, and other health care providers (Buck, 2011). Always remember

Single payer health plan places the financing with one entity usually the government. One major
advantage of this system is that all Americans and lawful residents would be entitled to benefits
regardless of individual or family income (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572). Private insurance plans and
government entitlement programs (Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, and the Federal Employee Health
Benefits Program) would no longer be necessary under a single payer system, although the for some
private insurance will remain for those desiring coverage beyond what a basic government plan might
offer (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572). Health care providers would be reimbursed on a fee for service
scale (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572). Hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutional facilities would
be given an annual prospective budget to provide all required care (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572).
Single payer system has to offer two things that are important are having coverage for all individuals
in the United States and the money spent on health care was budgeted. There is other ways that have
been tried or discussed and they would be piecemeal, managed competition, play or pay, and
employee mandate, although those do not necessarily provide coverage to all individuals. There are
down sides to a universal plan that would be change,

Online Shopping Disadvantages
Many of people do their shopping online because it is convenient, cost effective, and offers more
selection of products rather than going into a physical brick and mortar store. Seemingly, the only
downside is the shipping time, but the real cost is that it is gradually killing off local businesses such
as the mom and pop shops, department stores, and also shopping malls. These physical stores provide
tax base and jobs within their communities. Online retailers largely have minimal overhead, and drive
prices down lower than what most brick and mortar stores can bare. Online sales have many economic
benefits that brick and mortar stores don t have, which has created an environment where online
entities thrive while unintentionally causing their brick and mortar counterparts to fail in many cases.
Online retail shopping has grown dramatically over the past years; more and more, people are relying
on their fingertips to do the shopping rather than using their legs. Barbara Mantel, a writer for the CQ
Research states that, online shopping has grown fourfold since 2002 and now accounts for about 10
percent of discretionary retail spending in the United States. (par. 1). If people continue shop online, it
will continue the pressure on and tension between brick and mortar and online stores, resulting in
more failures of brick and mortar stores. An example of this growth is that the number of consumers
spent shopping with their smartphones jumped 385 percent between February 2010 and February 2013
says Mantel. (par. 14). This number is proving that online retailers are gaining momentum, whereas
the mom and pop shops are declining.
Many stores are already feeling the effects of online shopping. Big department stores like Sears,
Kmart, Macy s, and J.C. Penney have filed bankruptcy. According to The Independent, about 300
retail businesses went bust just between January and June of this year. Online shopping isn t the only
reason that they re closing down, but it does play a significant role in their closing. The reason why
these stores are closing down is that they just cannot compete with online shopping because they don t
have reasonable revenue for brick and mortar stores to compete with these monstrous

was fast, clean, and delicious. Since they had trouble maintaining quality among earlier franchisee,
they made sure to put in protections from franchisee abusing their name and their business. The
implications of their decisions were that they did not like change, and so they rejected all of Ray s
ideas. Those ideas included designs that alter the building furnace, adding a basement, a coke cola
sponsorship, request for additional revenue, attempting to renegotiate their franchise fee percentage,
and the use of powder milkshake. The one thing they could have done differently was to be more
willing to consider a change to improve their business. They did not identify with the state of their

Clint Eastwood s _Letters from Iwo Jima_ Essay
In 2006, a film directed by Clint Eastwood was released in theatres around the world titled Letters
from Iwo Jima. Unlike most war movies that are produced for the American public, this film entirely
captures the World War II battle of Iwo Jima from the perspective of the enemy. For a rare change,
Letters from Iwo Jima shows the cultural aspect and daily life the Japanese soldiers experienced
during the war. Although the film was given many positive reviews and was noted as one of the best
films of 2006, it still received mixed emotions from both the Japanese and American public. One of
the main ideas of the film focuses on the idea that good and evil exist on both sides, and that although
we share different ideas, thoughts, traditions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Japanese soldiers went into battle knowing that they would be killed and they would not make it
off the island. One of the most shameful acts for a Japanese soldier to do is surrender, and it was very
common for the soldiers to commit suicide before turning themselves in to the enemy. To commit
suicide and avoid capture of the enemy was considered noble and heroic in the Japanese military. In a
way, the soldiers were brainwashed into doing anything for the emperor of Japan and were told over
and over how glorious it is to die on the battlefield for their country. During the film, one Japanese
soldier points out that Japan will win the war due to the fact that the Americans show too much
sympathy and emotion for human life, and do not have the same desire and will that the Japanese
have. One of the main themes presented in Letters from Iwo Jima is the idea that good and evil always
exist on both sides. Much of the time, war films tend to show favor to one country, leaving the
audience close minded to what happens to the other side. One of the main characters followed in the
film is the Japanese Commander of Iwo Jima, General Kuribayashi. Unlike any other Japanese
Commander, Kuribayashi was very familiar with the American people and spent a good deal of time
visiting the United States prior to the war. Despite the strict and abusive tactics used by the Japanese
Generals to the lower ranking soldiers, Kuribayashi can best be

Biological Diversity and the Ways It Can Be Destroyed,...
For my topic I chose to explore biological diversity and ways that it can be destroyed, restored, and
maintained. In class, we were taught that diversity is the number of distinct species of animals, insects,
plants, etc. that are living in a particular area. We found out that diversity is greater in the tropics and
less towards the poles. This is called the Latitude Diversity Gradient and could be due to one or more
of three theories. They are the cradle hypothesis that says the area where species tend to be born is in
the tropical latitudes, the museum hypothesis that says the tropical latitudes provide a better habitat for
species that go extinct in other latitudes, and the destination hypothesis that says species migrate to the

Another example is that species are adapting to the stresses of living in the city, such as high
population density and high heavy metal concentrations in the soil. The last example that was given
was the house mouse and the Norway rat. These are both non native species brought to New York that
are developing a resistance to the warfarin used to try to kill them. (Taking a Walk on New York s
Wild Side) This last example also shows us that introducing non native species can increase diversity.
The problem with that is sometimes those species become invasive species and can have negative
effects on the diversity in an area. This can also happen with non native plants and insects species as
well. Methods of restoring biological diversity were addressed in this lecture too. The presenter said
that the best way to maintain biological diversity is to keep natural area large and undisturbed because
a larger space equals more diversity in species. While there are many projects that are working to
restoring land to wild habitat, this option is not always possible. When building new parks, panels of
experts put a lot of thought into what species would do well if introduced to the area. This includes
animals, plants, birds, trees, insects, etc. They then introduce those species to the park when it is
finished. Many companies are working towards putting green roofs on their company buildings. This

Grapefruit
Very much rich in fiber. It ranks higher as one of the best weight loss fruit. For grapefruit to be useful
in weight management, you have to be consistent in having it in your everyday diet. Grapes are natural
fat burners and are good in reducing water retention in the body. Acids found in grapefruit improve
digestion.
Melon
Watermelon is a natural cleanser, and it does not have any close rival in the market. Melons are easy
on the stomach, and that is why they can virtually be mixed with any other fruit. They are rich in
mineral and healthy fiber which is good for your weight loss program. The best detox program must
have a melon in it. Melon also gives you the feeling of being full, therefore, reducing your food
intake.
Making the Juice
Prepare about 200 grams of melon. Be careful when choosing the right melon for your weight loss
program. An overripe melon contains high sugar levels which may work against your slimming diet
goals.
Extract grape juice and add the mixture of grape juice and melon in a cup or bowl, add one cup of
water. As you mix, you can add a few ice cubes because cold drinks increase metabolic reactions
which in turn burns fat. Getting this fruit combination in your regular diet is

Narrative Essay On Baseball
During my childhood, I grew up in the town of Randolph, Massachusetts. Most of my childhood
memories came to be in this town. Throughout my childhood, I had many memories that I still vividly
remember to this day; learning how to ride a bike, graduating kindergarten and learning how to read
and write. During my childhood, there were days where I felt unstoppable, but there were also days
where everything brought me down. Even during these difficult days, there was always a place that I
looked forward going to; the baseball field. I began playing baseball when I was about 7 years old;

The field was a retreat from my stressors and problems; it started to become a place that calmed me

my day. Baseball was a very important sport to developing the type of person I am right now. After
our first win, I started to realize important lessons that would be crucial to be successful in not only
baseball, but also in the real world. One of the most important lessons I learned while playing
baseball, was that the only way to get better at something was hard work. Hard work is what got me
the grades I got in the past, and what has gotten the grades I have right now. The more games I played,
the more attached I felt to the sport, and the more lessons I learned. I felt like the field was the place
where I belonged. Another important lesson I learned from playing on the field is that not everything
is going to be the way you want it to be. I ve had to play on many fields, where most of them had
terrible conditions. I learned that I just have to deal with what is given and try my best with the

Historical Fiction And Its Importance On Society
Thesis Statement
We all understand the creative element that is in all fictional movies, including movies about historical
figures and events. Historical fiction is one of the most popular film genres. The general assumption is
that it helps people remember and understand history, giving us facts with some creative liberties. In
truth, it is changing the way we see history and thus changing our traditions and our culture. The paper
that follows should

· Explaining the importance of historical accuracy in fictional films
· Explaining the importance of these films on society
· Explain the negative impact that inaccurate historical films have on society
Historical Fiction and its Importance on Society
We constantly see portrayals of historical events and figures across all forms of entertainment,
whether it be a book, theatre or feature film. We are constantly bombarded with tales of dictators,
gladiators, great wars, lone survivors, myths and legends. We are constantly offered historical fiction
because we enjoy it. We like to see subjects that bored us in the classroom suddenly come to life and
entertain us on the big screen. We like to put a face to the legends that we have read about in literature.
It is something that we as a society use to break away from reality for a moment. The medium of film

  • 2. Sacrifice In Charles Dickens A Tale Of Two Cites Charles Dickens novel A Tale of Two Cites had multiple themes, motifs, symbols, and allusions built around one or more characters, including the theme of no sacrifice, no victory. Sacrifices were used all throughout the book whether it was to help a revolutionary mob overthrow the king and queen or to say the husband of the person you love. Either way, they helped moved the plot along in a unique way the only Charles Dickens was able to master. Charles Darnay was one of the few characters to make a sacrifice but he sacrificed various things like his family name. Obviously, Charles was one of the last people who wanted to be an Evremonde due to the cruel things his family did, including to his father in law. However, he could have been apart of his family and be super rich. Thankfully for him, he ditched his family, found Lucie, and had a father in law that would not hate him for what his family did. Later on, he decided to make another sacrifice by telling Manette about his family, the family that he had said should all be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for the revolution to have been successfully, a few powerful leaders, like the king and queen of France, were going to have to be killed in order to prove the red caps point. Not only were powerfully people killed but so was anyone who could possible be a threat to the revolution. After capturing these people and putting them in jail, they would got to a trial where they were most likely found guilty and then were killed. However, the red caps also had to make sacrifices of their own like to starve themselves due to the expensive goods. This was explained when the wine casket bust out into the streets and flooded them. The people were literally starved and had an unquenchable thirst for blood, leading to the revolution. • 3. The Importance Of Leadership And An Organization Leadership is both practical skills and research areas concerning the capability of an organisation or individual to guide or lead other individuals, organisations or teams. It is a process of influencing people socially where a person can register the support and aid of other individuals for the accomplishment of common tasks (Kvalnes, 2014). This is when the interpersonal skills come into use. Proper communication among all the hierarchies of the organisation is very important to achieve the desired goals (Korde, Eckert, Nielsen Lazo Giffen, 2011). Leadership is very important in any organisation to function smoothly. The goal of big and small businesses is to maintain the satisfaction of their customers and clients. All successful businesses and organisations need leaders who are effective (Tracy, 2014). Leaders in professional teams require various essential skills that have a direct relation with how they cooperate with the other workers and lead the teams to attain the targets and achieve high returns on investment. The leaders help in communication and formulation of new, effective strategic decisions to reach the target or the desired goals. • 4. Comparing Two Magazines Essay Comparing Two Magazines For my compare and contrast essay, I have decided to compare two magazines in the financial and business world of entrepreneurs. The name of the first magazine is Small business opportunities and the second magazine is Entrepreneurs Be your own boss The theme of the first magazine is to highlight, how and what type of businesses to start and make money without putting in much of the hard work. The very first page of the magazine shows an absolute image of the man and women dressed up with lots of money and a road of success. The magazine rapidity claims Sure ways to make money . It seems like editor is personally involved in guaranteeing the success of the business with highlighting text displaying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cover page is much simpler yet attractive without any graphics simply saying Low cost businesses you can start today . The very first page is well displayed; it contains popular franchise information. The magazine takes a step by step approach to guide an individual with general topics like How to start up and build a business . It seems like editor has no bias towards the information presented. The emphasis of this magazine is on the presenting more information about a product rather then just giving the monitory figures. The color and layout of the magazine is very simple and professional. Editor shows concern of misleading ads and puts emphasis on starting small. Towards the middle of the magazine in which he presents a simple but very well laid out table of the popular franchises, with topics like demographics, startup cost and brief introduction of the provider. In the last part of the magazine editor has put together a list of other sources and publication to inform and pursue readers to research more rather have them jump to conclusion by just looking at inflated figures. In conclusion, I have found that both of these magazines are very different and appeals to different class of people. The first magazine is not for the startup businessman but for somebody who can sense a foe or real business offer. The second magazine is a starting point for new entrepreneurs who want to start small but need a peek into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to much effect of human activity, global temperature is rising at a fast rate per year, which leads to serious changes in climate and weather. This results in aviation industries to be badly affected as the changes will lead to flight delays and bumper flights due to mid air turbulence. Thus Emirates does take this factor into serious considerations and started carrying out its Go Green plan in 2011 to reduce emition of greenhouse gases. Airplanes can cause an increase in greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) thus Emirates carry out its flight operations using Biofuel. Though its expensive, usage of Biofuels for its engines does save for a better environment. Without even thinking about it, speech is a tool that we use every day at work or in casual conversation, and that our lives would be completely different without. Humans learn a first language (L1) around the age of 1, and there is a sort of innateness for it to be acquired our brains are ready for it. However, acquiring a second language can often times be a different, and more difficult process for anyone who attempts to do so. It truly opens up a door of possibility. So what is it about the process of learning a new language that makes it so different? Our native language is the language that we first begin using and developing around the age of 1 year old. In addition, if an L2 is learned during infancy then it is also considered a mother tongue. Acquisition normally takes place during infancy and early childhood, at a time in which the child is maturing physically and mentally, and is simultaneously acquiring many other skills and much other knowledge of the world about him/her (Mace Matluck 697). Private insurance plans and government entitlement programs (Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, and the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program) would no longer be necessary under a single payer system, although the for some private insurance will remain for those desiring coverage beyond what a basic government plan might offer (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572). Health care providers would be reimbursed on a fee for service scale (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572). Hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutional facilities would be given an annual prospective budget to provide all required care (Shi ump; Singh, 2008, p. 572). Single payer system has to offer two things that are important are having coverage for all individuals in the United States and the money spent on health care was budgeted. • 27. Online Shopping Disadvantages Many of people do their shopping online because it is convenient, cost effective, and offers more selection of products rather than going into a physical brick and mortar store. Seemingly, the only downside is the shipping time, but the real cost is that it is gradually killing off local businesses such as the mom and pop shops, department stores, and also shopping malls. These physical stores provide tax base and jobs within their communities. Online retailers largely have minimal overhead, and drive prices down lower than what most brick and mortar stores can bare. Online sales have many economic benefits that brick and mortar stores don t have, which has created an environment where online entities thrive while unintentionally causing their brick and mortar counterparts to fail in many cases. Online retail shopping has grown dramatically over the past years; more and more, people are relying on their fingertips to do the shopping rather than using their legs. Barbara Mantel, a writer for the CQ Research states that, online shopping has grown fourfold since 2002 and now accounts for about 10 percent of discretionary retail spending in the United States. (par. 1). If people continue shop online, it will continue the pressure on and tension between brick and mortar and online stores, resulting in more failures of brick and mortar stores. An example of this growth is that the number of consumers spent shopping with their smartphones jumped 385 percent between February 2010 and February 2013 says Mantel. (par. 14). This number is proving that online retailers are gaining momentum, whereas the mom and pop shops are declining. Many stores are already feeling the effects of online shopping. Big department stores like Sears, Kmart, Macy s, and J.C. Penney have filed bankruptcy. According to The Independent, about 300 retail businesses went bust just between January and June of this year. Online shopping isn t the only reason that they re closing down, but it does play a significant role in their closing. The reason why these stores are closing down is that they just cannot compete with online shopping because they don t have reasonable revenue for brick and mortar stores to compete with these monstrous ... • 29. Clint Eastwood s _Letters from Iwo Jima_ Essay In 2006, a film directed by Clint Eastwood was released in theatres around the world titled Letters from Iwo Jima. Unlike most war movies that are produced for the American public, this film entirely captures the World War II battle of Iwo Jima from the perspective of the enemy. For a rare change, Letters from Iwo Jima shows the cultural aspect and daily life the Japanese soldiers experienced during the war. Although the film was given many positive reviews and was noted as one of the best films of 2006, it still received mixed emotions from both the Japanese and American public. One of the main ideas of the film focuses on the idea that good and evil exist on both sides, and that although we share different ideas, thoughts, traditions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Japanese soldiers went into battle knowing that they would be killed and they would not make it off the island. One of the most shameful acts for a Japanese soldier to do is surrender, and it was very common for the soldiers to commit suicide before turning themselves in to the enemy. To commit suicide and avoid capture of the enemy was considered noble and heroic in the Japanese military. In a way, the soldiers were brainwashed into doing anything for the emperor of Japan and were told over and over how glorious it is to die on the battlefield for their country. During the film, one Japanese soldier points out that Japan will win the war due to the fact that the Americans show too much sympathy and emotion for human life, and do not have the same desire and will that the Japanese have. One of the main themes presented in Letters from Iwo Jima is the idea that good and evil always exist on both sides. Much of the time, war films tend to show favor to one country, leaving the audience close minded to what happens to the other side. One of the main characters followed in the film is the Japanese Commander of Iwo Jima, General Kuribayashi. Unlike any other Japanese Commander, Kuribayashi was very familiar with the American people and spent a good deal of time visiting the United States prior to the war. • 31. Biological Diversity and the Ways It Can Be Destroyed,... For my topic I chose to explore biological diversity and ways that it can be destroyed, restored, and maintained. In class, we were taught that diversity is the number of distinct species of animals, insects, plants, etc. that are living in a particular area. We found out that diversity is greater in the tropics and less towards the poles. This is called the Latitude Diversity Gradient and could be due to one or more of three theories. They are the cradle hypothesis that says the area where species tend to be born is in the tropical latitudes, the museum hypothesis that says the tropical latitudes provide a better habitat for species that go extinct in other latitudes, and the destination hypothesis that says species migrate to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example is that species are adapting to the stresses of living in the city, such as high population density and high heavy metal concentrations in the soil. The last example that was given was the house mouse and the Norway rat. These are both non native species brought to New York that are developing a resistance to the warfarin used to try to kill them. (Taking a Walk on New York s Wild Side) This last example also shows us that introducing non native species can increase diversity. The problem with that is sometimes those species become invasive species and can have negative effects on the diversity in an area. This can also happen with non native plants and insects species as well. Methods of restoring biological diversity were addressed in this lecture too. The presenter said that the best way to maintain biological diversity is to keep natural area large and undisturbed because a larger space equals more diversity in species. While there are many projects that are working to restoring land to wild habitat, this option is not always possible. When building new parks, panels of experts put a lot of thought into what species would do well if introduced to the area. This includes animals, plants, birds, trees, insects, etc. They then introduce those species to the park when it is finished. Many companies are working towards putting green roofs on their company buildings. This would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout my childhood, I had many memories that I still vividly remember to this day; learning how to ride a bike, graduating kindergarten and learning how to read and write. During my childhood, there were days where I felt unstoppable, but there were also days where everything brought me down. Even during these difficult days, there was always a place that I looked forward going to; the baseball field. After our first win, I started to realize important lessons that would be crucial to be successful in not only baseball, but also in the real world. One of the most important lessons I learned while playing baseball, was that the only way to get better at something was hard work.
