play Hamlet which classify them in the group of many great stories such as The Spanish

In her short story, The Lottery, Shirley Jackson uses conformity and rebellion to convey the main
theme, which is that blindly following tradition can have negative consequences. The village
members show this through their actions while carrying out this lottery that they have done for
generations. One character, Tessie, is the outlier who is a rebellion compared to the other
villagers. Her character s actions contrast the other villagers, and make what they are doing seem
much more irrational. It also shows how the majority refuses to hear what one who deviates from
the norm has to say. This allows them to remain in a bubble and continue to live out the same
customs year after year.
The villagers conform to these traditions for the sole reason that it s been done for so many years
before them. Long enough that they do not even remember certain aspects of it, like the tuneless

generation that clings without question to practices that may not continue to be beneficial for
the community. The black box from which the slips of paper are drawn represents the villagers

Introduction There are many different theories out there of why people commit the crimes they
do. In fact there are several theories that are apart of the different aspects of those theories. For
hundreds of years people have been trying to figure out what causes people to engage in deviant

faces even though it s been years since I ve read that book. My tale is a modern adaptation of
Cendrillon, where the character is not weak willed or naive. The main focus is on justice and on
her relationship with her step siblings and her Prince which is much more than superficial

The Fellowship of the Ring has really been a great book to read. It entices the reader and
immerses them into the world of Middle Earth. While the book is action packed, it delivers a
strong message of Frodo s best qualities; his persistence, loyalty, and bravery. The Fellowship of
the Ring is a book that I would recommend to everybody I know. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the

In 1970, the Chaparral Region of Southern California suffered immense devastation from wildfires
that burned for several days, burning more than half a million acres of land, destroying over 700
