How Is Hitler A Victim Of Post-War Propaganda
The Myth dispeller
Is Hitler a victim of post war propaganda; why has the term Nazi become a term of abuse and was
Hitler really a racist?
Myth #1 Propaganda in the west
Hitler was not averse to treading on people s toes and the biggest toes he trod on are those of the Jews.
Like others before him, he stemmed the tide of European Jewry, but failed to conquer worldwide
Zionism, especially in the U.S. The legacy he left behind him and especially his final testament still
echo s today. Centuries will pass away, but out of the ruins of our towns and monuments the hatred
against those finally responsible whom we have to thank for everything, international Jewry and its
helpers, will grow.
It took only two post war decades for the Jews ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Hitler s SS, over a third originated from foreign nations, including a Muslim Handschar division,
Indians, Arabs and a Russian Vlasov RLA. This was whilst the blacks in the U.S. armed forces were
still segregated, and twenty years before the UK, who still had signs in guesthouses in the 1960 s
which read No Irish, dogs or blacks.
Hitler believed in the superiority of races and distinctions amongst them, not racism which is a dislike
of colour. The Second World War German army was the most ethnically diverse in history. Hitler
simply believed in the separation of races and the total exclusion of the Jews. The white supremacy
label then is a recent add on, designed to evoke feelings of racialism amongst a dumbed down and
largely ignorant population. Six million, Oi veh! It is all designed to mislead and misinform!
I firmly believe that in times to come, probably not in our lifetime, the west will again awake and view
Hitler as a man ahead of his time, a prophet. The Jews are a clever and manipulative race, but their
downfall, repeated throughout history, is that their genetic inheritance and a racial predisposition for
wealth, deception and control, means that they are destined to repeat the same mistakes, which led
Hitler to embark on a National Socialist

Problems Faced By The Asian City Of Beijing
Conflicts in Measuring Progress
The intention to step after the Western growth model can lead the Asian cities to the crisis (Heather,
2012). However, recently, China and India have managed to ensure the economic progress and
significant living standards improvements for their economically unstable social groups of the
population. At the same time, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) pointed out the rising inequality
which can soon undermine the very basis of these countries economies success (Heather, 2012).
Furthermore, according to the ADB, the gap between the poor and rich has not been reduced (Heather,
2012). This gap has increased and keeps rolling up. The closer analysis of the problem of poverty in
the city of Beijing gives the solid reason to claim that the Western model of economic development
should not be applied as such to the Asian context.
Beijing is one of the largest cities of China characterized with a wide gap between the rich and the
poor. According to the Chinese latest five year plan, the current purpose pursued by the government is
to ensure a more equitable economic growth at a slower pace as the strategy to narrow this gap. The
difference between the poor and rich should be narrowed in terms not only of the social and political
necessity but also with regard to the economic aspect. The growing income gap may ultimately have
the political consequences for the country. For instance, Beijing is the home for hundreds of thousands
of poor rural people

An Ethical and Global Analysis of Software Offshore Outsourcing
Introduction
Before acquiring its current negative connotation, outsourcing referred to the practice of turning over
parts of a business to a company that specialized in that activity. For instance, Cisco Systems, Brocade
Communications, and other leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) outsource their
manufacturing to Solectron Corporation, where I was a summer intern. By partnering with Solectron,
OEMs can gain access to the latest equipment, process knowledge, and manufacturing expertise
without making substantial capital investments. In essence, outsourcing to Solectron enables OEMs to
focus on their core competencies of research and development and sales ... Show more content on

Now, skilled workers are finding that education isn t enough, not when an Indian worker is just as
educated and is willing to do the same job for a fraction of the pay. A microchip designer or financial
analyst makes $7,000 a month in the United States. The same worker in India earns $1,000 a month.1
Significant cost savings, gaining access to skills not found elsewhere, and providing access to a new
market all contribute to the popularity of offshore outsourcing. Nonetheless, if software outsourcing
continues, those with less creative software jobs who update antiquated code, fix bugs, and perform
routine programming tasks2 should prepare themselves for career upheaval.
Meanwhile, in India... 3

West Palm Beach based Ocwen Financial Corp. offers a case study in how companies are cashing in

Analysis Of Disney s The Lion King
Disney s The Lion King is one of the most iconic children s films of all time. However, behind the
Hakunah Matata lies a movie laced with symbolism and mythical references. An online article from
Thinkquest.org informs that the movie s popular Elephant Graveyard represents the mythical Realm of
Hades. The article continues to delve deeper into the symbolism, stating that the three hyenas, Shenzi,
Banzai, and Ed, represent the three headed beast, Cerebus, that guards Hades
Realm. The themes and plot lines of the modern era s most famous books and movies trace back to the
Greek myths. Medicines are named after the characters of famous myths. Businesses choose the
names of their companies and products from the ancient myths, lores, and various deities. Everyday
phrases reference the centuries old stories. Today, Greek mythology can be found in modern medicine,
businesses, and language.
Names of various Greek deities and other symbols from mythology have maneuvered their way into
modern medicine. Morphine, a pain reliever administered daily to patients in hospitals around the
world, can be traced back to the mythology of the Greeks. The name of this popular narcotic is derived
from the Greek God of Sleep, Morpheus (Impact of Greek Mythology). However, this isn t the only
link modern medicine has to the ancient mythology. An online article, Medicine in Mythology and
Literature , recognizes one of the symbols used to portray the oncoming of diseases to be the

Overcoming Adversity And Obstacles In The Circuit, By...
Helen Keller once said, Although the world is full of suffering, it is also about overcoming it. Helen
Keller faced a lot of adversity and obstacles in her life. But she got through it. Everyone faces
obstacles in their lives, some more than others, but no ones life is just a sunny sea. I will be telling of
four stories that are full of amazing people, who, against all odds powered through obstacles and kept
going with their lives and competing their dreams against all odds. The Circuit To start off, I will be
talking about the story, The Circuit (written by Francisco Jimenez) Panchito, a young kid who belongs
to a family of migrant workers, struggles having to leave his homes everytime the harvest ends. This
leads him to not having many friendships, missing school very often, and not always having the
greatest sleeping quarters. The shed they were given at the new place wasn t great, but it was
something, and they were grateful for it. When Panchitos parents finally agreed that he could go to
school again, he was very happy. At this new school he met a amazing teacher willing to help him
learn to speak better english and even to play the trumpet. But unfortunately, a few when he came
home from school, he saw his family already packing to move ... Show more content on

One of the ways is shown in the narrative was when Panchito kept doing the hard labor in the fields
everyday. He never once quit because it was too hard, or complained because he wanted to go to
school. Many people in our society would complain and beg for a break, leaving other people to do
the work. Following that, not only did panchito show remarkable characteristics, his family did as
well. Once Panchitos mom found a landowner willing to take them in, she was so grateful. The shelter
they were given was a garage with termite ridden walls and a dirt floor, but they didn t whine about
the conditions, they swept up and were thankful for

Robotic Surgery Benefits Springfield Hospital
The world of robotics has dramatically expanded in the past hundred years, leading to increased
explorations into whether robots are largely beneficial or detrimental to society. There are those who
say robotics can be used to achieve the impossible, to perfect existing methods and narrow down the
potential for risk, or to make life easier. On the other hand, there are plenty of cons that are a cause for
concern when it comes to robots that are just now coming to the light, previously never having been
imagined. Both in the medical field and in the commercial delivery business, robotic technology is
typically showcased as being immensely beneficial when utilized; however, as it becomes increasingly
implemented in these fields, it is being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also offers patients greatly improved clinical outcomes with both reduced pain and a quicker
recovery period. Effectively, what Stirling is asserting is that overall, clinical outcomes for patients
have been greatly improved due to reduced pain, less scarring and blood loss, and quicker recovery
times. While Stirling provides ample persuasive evidence for his claim that DRSS is largely
successful, I would include additional substantiation. He left out invaluable statistics that are provided
on DRSS s main website daVinci Surgery, such as the fact that DRSS has been used successfully in
about 1.5 million surgeries. Furthermore, daVinci Surgery informs that their robotic surgical system is
currently the number one choice for women afflicted with gynecologic cancer, and it is also used in 4
out of 5 prostatectomy surgeries. These statistics combined with Stirling s article provide the ultimate
proof that robots have truly become integrated in the medical field with great success. Despite the
tremendous success in implementing robots in the medical field, there is a considerable risk and cause
for concern when it comes to their technical security. Medical devices are consistently released to the
public with little to no security control ingrained in the software. Because of this, they can

The Vanished Settlements Summary
In chapter 5, The Vanished Settlements , John Viele reveals information about the 21 year span of life
on the Keys. The Civil War, living conditions, mosquitoes, fresh water, and isolation are some of the
main hardships that many of the settlers had to experience, but only a few could endure the setbacks
and live prosperous lives, as well as their families. Henry Geiger, Temple Pent, and Happy Jack were
the most prosperous men during the hard times of the Key West, and through others around them, their
stories can now live on. Viele tells us only a few families remained living in the Keys after the Indian
raids and the Second Seminole War. About 20 homes that were documented on the 1850 census, which
together, held about 40 settlers. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author says he sleeps on a cot and had to use a stool to keep his legs form going through it. He
draws up a picture of Henry s home. The illustration shows that Henry was very luxurious. Henry
made his living through the hauling and selling of wood, tanning deer, and growing vegetables and
fruits, Viele says. Henry had managed the mosquitoes and lived a very successful life. Captain Temple
Pent, was self educated, a skilled seaman, and pilot. Viele informs us, Pent was at sea at an early age
of his life. At the age 16 he began to tend to a piece of land, better known today as Coconut Grove.
After Florida was bought by the US, he became a citizen and had a family. Because of his reputation
at sea, Commodore Porter offered Pent to serve as a squadron official. Pent moved his family to Key
Vacas when the Seminole became violent, and eventually fled to Key West. Records show that Pent
was appointed Inspector of Elections in 1836 and held leadership in a 100 population community. In
1860s, he was the Florida lighthouse keeper and lived there till his death in 1868. Viele shows that
Pent had a lot of political success.
Happy Jack had a plantation that grew various fruits and excellent sweet potatoes , as a 1856 surveyor
notes. Viele tells us that Happy Jack s story is very blurry and comes from two different sources, one a
writer whose article appeared in a Putnam s Monthly paper and the other is a friend. Happy Jack was
one of the members of a happy go lucky band.

Andy Goldsworthy Analysis
In the second half of the twentieth century, artistic movements made pushes in order to move beyond
the traditional gallery space, changing the terrain of displaying and making art. An artist s body of
work no longer needed to reside inside of a gallery or art collection, and artists became free to explore
other ways of creating and displaying work. In this vein, Andy Goldsworthy works sculpturally with
natural media, and leaves the sculptures within a particular environment, often expecting his work to
decay quickly. Many times, the only evidence of any art he makes is the photographs taken during the
process. By more traditional standards, art of this nature is entirely contradictory. What is the point of
pieces of visual art that cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goldsworthy had constructed a dome made out of sticks at the edge of a tide pool during low tide,
right next to a river meeting an ocean. This is described further by Jeffrey L. Kosky in his book Arts of
Wonder. There Goldsworthy has gathered driftwood into a dome, with a hole at its top, an echo of the
vortex around which a whirlpool might spin or an eddy might form... before being released into the
rushing flow. (156). After finishing constructing the piece, Goldsworthy steps back to view his piece
and is confronted by a man walking by, who asks after some conversation, What do you expect will
happen?... Will it stay intact? , to which Goldsworthy responds, No it won t, absolutely not. (cite) The
tide begins to pull in, and some of the outer shell of sticks begin to float away. Shortly after though,
the entire piece is picked up at once by the tide, and begins to float above where it was built. After
this, the piece slowly floats away, down the river and away from the camera. Goldsworthy then

Legalizing Recreational Drugs
In 1826, a group of Americans sought out to ban all alcoholic beverages; they were successful and had
a law made under the 18th amendment. However under the 21st amendment it was repealed. So, the
question comes up, should all recreational drugs be banned today? I feel that recreational drugs today
(not for medical use) should not be banned.
I envision a world where drugs and even alcohol are legal. In my eyes the world does not appear
different. I feel that even now when drugs (also again including alcohol) are banned, so many people
do them illegally that it would not be that big of a difference if they are legalized. Consequently, if
they are legalized drug and alcohol abuse might go up and due to that reason there should still be some

`` The Ecstasy Of Influence `` By Jonathan Allen Lethem
New ideas come from everywhere whether they are from people, places, books, animals, or even come
from something as meaningless as silence; however, we don t just get new ideas out of the blue, we
have to be inspired and influenced by those elements to create new art. Unlike Plato s Ion, which
states that God speaks through the artists, Lethem s The Ecstasy of Influence: A plagiarism; projects
that inspiration comes from the influence of our surroundings which is the key to creation.
Jonathan Allen Lethem, a modern American essayists, writes the article in which he talks about how
some artists see plagiarism as a wrong doing or stealing. Lethem disagrees with those artists point of
view. He writes, most artists are converted to art by art itself. Finding one s voice isn t just an
emptying and purifying oneself of the words of others but an adopting and embracing of filiations,
communities, and discourses (Lethem 87). This means that there is an inspiration behind every artist s
work. The inspiration could come from something as simple as expanding another artists works. It is
normal for an artist to be inspired by other artists, and then invents a work of art that is similar to
his/her inspiration. For instance, Lethem gives an example of how South Park, the TV show, was
inspired by Rankin/Bass and Charlie Brown Christmas specials. Most of the time, plagiarism could
lead to a great work of creativity.
Today, almost all work of art, whether they are movies, books,

Myrtle Wilson Character Analysis
Myrtle Wilson is a superficial woman, who despite being fortuneless and living in the Valley Of Ashes
herself, judges others based on their appearances. On Myrtle s way to see her sister, Myrtle encounters
Tom Buchanan. Tom is a wealthy man, Myrtle sees him on the train, and the first thing that catches
her sight is his dress suit . Clothes say a lot about an individual. They can make an impression on
others because clothes reflect the traits and personality of a person. In this instance, Tom s suit is too
formal for a train ride. His attire catches Myrtle s attention, to her, his clothing represents his wealth
and high class. Myrtle is intrigued by Tom s expensive suit. Myrtle s husband had to borrow a suit for

Myrtle further examines Tom s appearance and goes on to acknowledge his white shirt front . The
color white represents purity, success and nobleness but can also be associated with hollowness,
coldness, superficiality and ruthlessness. In this case, his shirt represents his appearance while front
means façade. Tom appears as wealthy, pure and desirable to Myrtle when in fact, he has on a façade
and is hollow, selfish and superficial instead. Myrtle cannot distinguish between the two and is
captivated by the way he lives and carries himself. When Mrs. McKee compliments Myrtle on her
dress, she condescendingly shrugs it off and offers her the dress as she has got to get another one
tomorrow . Myrtle implies that the dress is of value to her and since she is very rich, she can just get
one whenever she wants. She cares greatly about her own physical appearance and gives clothes a lot
of importance. Myrtle puts up a façade as well, and wants people to judge her based on her appearance
just as she judges them on theirs, thus implying her

Comparing Macbeth And Great Expectations
There are more than enough examples from Macbeth and Great Expectations to prove that subversion
of gender roles, a term that describes someone acting in a way that is not expected from those of their
said gender, is evident in both writing pieces. There are a number of connections between the women
of the play and novel; this can be seen in their stern, powerful and leader like and always changing
personalities that a number of female characters share. For instance, Miss Havisham s burning hatred
for men that she implemented into Estella s mind, to Lady Macbeth s level of ambition to have her
husband become king. Others include similarities in levels of knowledge, even though they were
considered commoners on a part of the social ladder where a lack of knowledge is expected, and
examples of how they use their high levels of knowledge to their advantage. This can also be
considered evidence of subversion of gender roles; women at the time were not expected to be
knowledgeable by society as they are now. Other connections would be based on the topic of visual
appearance overall, with connections to how they portray themselves to other characters and the
reader throughout. The women of these two works show an exceptionable amount of power, control
and capability of holding a family together a number of times throughout the novel and the play. A
leading factor in this is their personalities they spoke their mind, and were not afraid of the
consequences. which happen to be

Installing Windows Server 2012 Machine
GOAL
The main purpose of this lab is to install and configure services such as Active Directory, DNS and
DHCP on the Windows Server 2012 machine. Also the DNS and DHCP services were monitored with
the help of a monitoring system like OpsviewAtom and Windows Performance Monitor. The role of
DHCP is to make sure that clients (Windows 7) can obtain an IP address whereas that of DNS is to
make sure that they can access websites within the domain.
The steps regarding AD, DNS and DHCP were a refresher as it was covered in a previous class. The
installation and configuration of Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and Performance monitor was
new which needed some research and understanding.
PROCEDURAL AND INFORMATIONAL DOCUMENTATION
The first activity of the lab is to install Windows Server 2012 Datacenter. The steps involve using
VMWare s Vsphere and the .iso image of windows server that is already been installed. The steps for
setting up the OS on the VM are pretty straightforward. After the CD/DVD has been inserted the
installation process is followed and then Server can now be used.
The second activity involved the installation of DHCP on the Windows Server machine. This is done
by Add the DHCP Server feature Option from within the Server Manager, Add Roles and Features.
After the installation is completed, the scope of the subnet is to be defined. Within the scope, the
allocated range of IP addresses is entered along with certain reservations (Windows 7 client)
exceptions.

Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper

suggests that the human nature is originally bad, and there are evidences in the history that suggest
human evilness as well.

themselves in a civilized society without adults. However, as there is no supervisor or any adults,

Hybrid Energy Systems ( Hres )
Hybrid Energy system (HRES) combines two or more renewable energy sources used together to
provide increased system efficiency as well as greater balance in energy supply. It becomes popular to
remote area for power generation due to advances in renewable energy technologies and subsequent
rise in prices of petroleum products. Hybrid energy system is an excellent solution for electrification
of remote rural areas where the grid extension is difficult and not economical. [29] Such system
incorporates a combination of one or several renewable energy sources such as solar photovoltaic,
wind energy, micro hydro and may be conventional generators for backup. Hybrid energy system has
found much wider dimension than individual stand alone renewable/conventional systems for rural
remote electrification. It is a known fact that the application of hybrid energy system based rural
remote area electrification will offer a quick, economic and reliable answer to the rural household s
need for power, especially, for those of light duty appliances. However, the planning of rural remote
area electrification is not always easy and a proper mix can be arrived at only after a careful technical,

Privacy Act Pros And Cons
When this act was made effective in October of 2001, many people came out and criticized it. They
claimed that the act infringed on some of their rights and their privacy.
According to Pizzo (2015), the most criticized was the act s section 215 of Title II, which gave the FBI
access to the personal records of US citizens, including medical, financial, telephone, and library
records. To obtain records, the FBI would issue a national security letter (NSL), which demanded the
handover of relevant communication records and included a gag order to preemptively prohibit
discussing the receipt of the NSL and challenging the NSL in court. The ACLU charged that section
215 and its gag order violated the First Amendment s protection of free speech.

Essay on Cells and their parts
Cells are some of the smallest organisms around. All living things consist of cells, and yet they are
invisible to the naked eye. Cells are the basic structural and functional units of life. Cells are made up
of many different parts which allow them to function properly.
All cells are separated from their surrounding by a cell membrane. The cell membrane regulates what
enters and leaves the cell and also aids in the protection and support of the cell. A cell membrane is
similar to the walls surrounding your house.
In plants the cell membrane is surrounded by a cell wall. The cell wall is outside the cell membrane,
and its purpose is to help the membrane protect and support the cell. Since the cell wall is very porous,

important structures. This area is basically the main place where you will find structures that help the

Mitochondrion is an importance structure that lies in the cytoplasm area. Mitochondrion is the plural
word for mitochondria, which is the key organelle that converts energy from one form to another.
Mitochondria changes the chemical energy stored in food into compounds that are more convenient

Ribosomes are the structures in which proteins are made. Cells that are active in protein synthesis are
often crowded with ribosomes. Ribosomes are composed of RNA and protein. Some ribosomes are
attached to the membranes, and some are free in the cytoplasm. Ribosomes are among the smallest of
organelles. They are no larger than 25 nanometers in diameter. A nanometer is equal to one billionth of

Invasives Vs Non-Invasives
Invasives versus non invasives: Not all alien species are invasive. Many, such as honeybees, may be
considered beneficial to the environment and the economy. If a species hasn t had any record of
introduction to new habitats, it is nearly impossible to tell whether it will be dangerous or not. The
cane toad was introduced to Australia under the mistaken impression that it would only eat the insects
they hoped it would. Garlic mustard was introduced as an herb. The best practice is to simply import
as few new non native species as possible. This also includes tightening all pathways of introduction
to prevent new introductions. Community outreach: A website will be created by the local CISMA

Muscular Christianity Is Viewed As Courage And Confidence
Muscular Christianity is viewed as courage and confidence one can have. It is seen through a
particular setting such as in a sport like a football. It allows people to have faith and hope in
themselves that they can achieve in something no matter how much criticism they endure. According
to Putney s God s in the Gym Muscular Christianity is an idea that lets people honor or celebrate their
bodies. Many hoped that physical experience might increase release from body rejecting and social
limitations. Although sports were denied in some religions due its belief that it would take away
peoples devotions of their spiritual being, some people were in favor of it. Although Muscular
Christianity was a concept that people had by praying to God to be better at a sport, this idea is
currently dying down. There are some contemporary examples that show Muscular Christianity still
exists today but without religiously relying on and the use of God. People that play popular sports
such as football players, female champions, the still growing YMCA, and the striving athletes in the
Olympic games all have faith in themselves and do not need God. They all have shown great
achievement in their field with the help of Muscular Christianity without the need of God s faith.
However, the movie Chariots of Fire shows an immense amount of Muscular Christianity but is not
considered a contemporary example of it due to the religion limitations portrayed.

Film Industry Research Paper
The moving picture was created from a desire to expand our perceptions. The motion picture industry
was a necessary born from a simple format. With the advent of photography between 1816 and 1818
by Frenchman Joseph Niepce, there was a desire for movement which made cinema inevitable. The
first known images were fuzzy images on mental plates. Louis Daguerre also noted as pioneer of
photography; inception of film followed 50 years later. Hollywood, the modern well oiled machine it
is today started with soundless films with no story or plot. The first phase of films only focused on
movement. Overtime, directors grew a desire to create stories, not just random action. Storytelling
began in the early 1900s. In 1903 Edwin Porters created The Great Train Robbery , one of the first
feature action films. Porter told a story of a robbery, chase and inevitable capture of the bad guys.
What short films are today, they were the feature films of yesterday. It was average that a film would
be 5 8 minutes. With the advancement of technology films did get longer, but directecdtors could only
produce one reelers. Filmmakers had to cram an entire movie on one short reel of film. With the
adaption of telling stories, movies goers were mesmerized with the magic and form of film. Only a

The Quintessential American Woman Essay
The Quintessential American Woman
The American woman is a mystery that has yet to be solved. She is an ever changing poem that sparks
interest in those who are unaccustomed to her mysterious ways. The American women fascinated
many authors, including Henry James. To express his enthrallment, James employed his literary talent
to create Daisy Miller. Daisy exudes the vast depth of the entity of the American woman, which
originally captured James attention. John Hay, a contemporary observer of American manners and
mores stated of the American woman, Her conduct is without blemish, according to the rural
American standard, and she knows no other (qtd. in Fogel 52). James s Daisy Miller depicts the
innocence of the American woman, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She parades about without a chaperone, and flaunts her friendships to men, thereby presenting herself
to others as a tramp. Evidence for this is found in the novella wherein Winterbourne ponders, Was she
simply a pretty girl from New York State...or was she also a designing, an audacious, an unscrupulous
young person (James 57). Daisy seems pure and innocent, but her behavior is so unrefined leaving her
open to suspicions of crudity. As Daisy can be said to personify the American woman, such qualities
of innocence and crudity can be said to apply to the American woman as well. Daisy s purity is further
explored in her dealings with the few expatriate Americans that she encounters in Europe. The
characteristics of the expatriates consist of familiarity with American social behavior, although
European social behavior is favored. This adds to the contrast between the American and European
social standard. Mrs. Walker, an American expatriate, is a perfect example of the difference between
the standards of America and Europe. After sympathizing with Daisy s behavioral ignorance, Mrs.
Walker attempts to help Daisy from further ruining her fast developing reputation. Daisy s refusal to
accept advice creates additional isolation from the social society in Europe for her. In a compilation of
commentary on Daisy Miller, Albert Mordell writes, One of the most successful touches in the story is

Compare and Contrast How the Main Protagonists Experience...
Compare and contrast how the main protagonists experience being outsiders within their respective
societies. The experience of being outsiders is explored by William Shakespeare in Othello , Emily
Bronte in Wuthering Heights and Robert Browning in his Dramatic Monologues. Shakespeare
explores the theme of alienation through a character considered an outsider by the society in which he
lives in. Similarly Emily Bronte explores Heathcliff and the obstacles he faces at Wuthering Heights.
Browning s Dramatic Monologues illustrate the minds of psychotic lovers who are all possessive and

position in the society. While some are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator in The Last Ride Together is also rejected by his mistress but in contrast his acceptance
of this makes him dissimilar to the Duke and Heathcliff. In this poem Browning portrays human
success and the limitations people face. Although the lover s life has been meant for fails , he has
accepted his fate with his mistress and so accepts his failure of not being able to get her as part of his
success. Othello on the other hand has major success in wooing Desdemona which could suggest that
the rejection and success these characters receive could reflect the extent to which they are seen as
outsiders. Porphyria s lover is depicted as an outsider like the Duke but the narrator in this poem is far
more psychotic. Browning s use of language indicates that Porphyria is from a higher class than her
lover gay feast , dripping cloak and shawl , soiled gloves paints an image of a wealthy and
independent woman. There is a clear issue of class and wealth in both of these Browning poems and it
seems to be the root of the problems faced by the lovers. In Wuthering Heights money and power is
also a major issue which causes the unfortunate events endured by the protagonist. When Heathcliff

Critical Analysis Of Slaughterhouse-Five
Slaughterhouse Five is Kurt Vonnegut s commentary on war. While the main focus is the bombing of
Dresden during World War II, the book isn t really about Dresden; Vonnegut merely uses this specific
battle as a method to express his strong sentiment against war in general. In the early part of the novel,
Vonnegut narrates his visit to Bernard O Hare s home. O Hare s wife, Mary suddenly launches into an
angry outburst after mumbling to herself for a time, and Vonnegut says She [Mary O Hare] had been
talking to herself, so what she said was a fragment of a much larger conversation (Vonnegut 18).
Likewise, Vonnegut s reference to the Children s Crusade and his use of it as the alternative title for
the book is a fragment of a much larger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The introduction of such themes is significant because it plays an important role in situating the reader
and providing historical context. In including the excerpt from the book, which is a study of crowd
psychology, Vonnegut is borrowing wholesale from a history text. This text seeps into the voice of the
narrator and subliminally impacts how the reader interprets the narrative. This is a method of
foreshadowing the ideas that come later in the book in various forms and priming the reader to think
in a certain way. Using this historical text also lends credibility to Vonnegut s writing, since the book
he cites is often cited as the best book ever written about market psychology. Historically, the Children
s Crusade resulted from the glamorization of war in children s eyes, as evidenced in the next part of
the intertext: History in her solemn page...pathway of blood and tears. Romance, on the other hand,
dilates upon their piety and heroism, and portrays, in her most glowing and impassioned hues, their
virtue and magnanimity, the imperishable honor they acquired for themselves, and the great services
they rendered to Christianity. (Vonnegut 20). The romantic representation of war is contrasted with the
true historical representation of war by use of the phrase on the other hand , implying that the
historical and romantic portrayals of war cannot possibly coexist. A major theme in the book is the
lack of glamor and dignity in war. Vonnegut uses this intertext to

The Two Components Of Blood Pressure
1. The two constituents of blood pressure are systolic pressure and diastolic pressure; the highest and
lowest pressure readings during ventricular systole and diastole, respectively. Pulse pressure is the
difference between these two readings and represents the blood being pushed into the aorta from the
left ventricle. However, a blood pressure value can be given as an average pressure in the arteries
which forces the flow of blood from the heart. This value is the mean arterial pressure (MAP). Cardiac
output (CO) and Total Peripheral Resistance (TPR) are the physiological determinants of MAP. CO is
the volume of blood pumped by one ventricle in a given period of time (Silverthorn, 2007). It is
determined by the heart rate (HR), which is the number of beats per minute, and the stroke volume
(SV), which is the volume of blood pumped by a ventricle during a contraction. Venous return is the
volume of blood with returns to the heart via the vena cava. With reference to the Frank Starling
relationship, if CO increases, venous return should also increase, however changes in vasoconstriction
can affect the venous return, thus effecting MAP. According to Poiseuille s Law, the radius of the
arterioles directly impacts the resistance of blood flow to peripheral circulation, which is termed TPR.
Blood volume also impacts the MAP. A larger blood volume will exert more pressure on the arterioles
and therefore increase blood pressure. Furthermore, the kidneys can filter the blood

The Ancient Roman Civilization

great leaders that sustained the great civilization for ages. The Romans encountered many wars and
battles, they didn t win all of their battles; however, they ve learned through their failures to improve
upon the progress of their society. In 264 BC to 146 BC the Romans were involved in a prolonged war
with the Carthaginians, known as the Punic War. (Chris Scarre, 24 25) The word Punic comes from
the Latin derivation of the word Punicus which translates to Carthaginian , referring to the
Carthaginian s Phoenician ancestors. (Keith Sidwell, 16) The Punic war was broken into 3 parts: The
first Punic war (264 241 B.C.), the second Punic war (218 201 B.C.), and the third Punic war (149 146
B.C.) Wars around this era wasn t based on ideals, it was strictly for territory. The Romans fought for
control over the lands all throughout Europe, North Africa, and parts of Middle East. Around this time
the Carthaginians were the biggest threat to the Romans. It wasn t only because they had land, but also
the competitions of trade/economic stand point. This was the final spark for the Romans to part take in
the destruction of Cartage Civilization at the end of the third Punic war. The Romans managed to win

High School Dropouts Is An Issue Today s Society
The purpose of this proposal is to let people know that high school dropouts is an issue in today s
society. At the present time, every year 1.2 million students drop out of high school. The average age
that students dropout is between sixteen and twenty four years. Students drop out because of either
personal factors, family factors, and community factors or all of the above. Drop out students should
be encouraged to finish high school because non graduates fail to succeed in life. First of all, High
school dropouts is an issue occurring since a very long time ago because it has been proven that many
students are unsuccessful after dropping out of high school. As mentioned before, every year over 1.2
million students drop out of high school. As Richmond mentions, an estimated 1 million students will
fail to graduate this year, a loss of 5,500 students for every day on the academic calendar (Richmond
1). This is a big quantity of students who will have no education guidance into their future. Texas is
one of the top three states with higher dropout rates along with California and Florida. Also, there is
no rate difference between genders just that boys and girls dropout for different reasons. Although,
people will say that this issue does not affect them particularly, these dropout students will affect our
economy in the future. As Lynch states, The financial ramifications of dropping out of high school

Multiple Signs Of Infection, Retinal Vascular Sheathing...
Our patient presented with multiple signs of infection, which can t initially be pinpointed to one
disease alone. The three important signs to initially address and understand the science behind are
perivasculitis, retinal vascular sheathing and retinal hemorrhages. All three medical definitions appear
straightforward and all very similar, but the combination of the three leads to a serious diagnosis and
urgency for this patient.
Perivasculitis is an inflammation of a sheath surrounding the tissue 1. In class we discussed the
differences between perivasculitis and periflabitis. Perivasculitis should be white because of the
inflammation and the white blood cells then spilling out. The Prefix peri means around, or on the
outside of the tissue. Retinal vascular sheathing is sheathing or cuffing of blood vessels and vitreous
cells . The swelling or cuffing of blood vessels in the retinal layer is a serious condition and is often
associated with vasculitis. Finally, a retinal hemorrhage is abnormal bleeding of the vessels in the
retina 2. Retinal hemorrhages can be caused for a variety of reasons such as injuries like forceful
blows or accidents and falls, as well as adverse health conditions. We know that the loss of vision can
be largely attributed to the excess debris that is currently located in the eye, the debris being blood that
is leaking out. Our case states that he has no previous trauma however, proving that there is an ulterior

Reaction Paper About Tattoos In Society
On December 29, 2016, I got my first tattoo. Located on my upper thigh, it was a private message to
myself to keep fighting no matter how hard life is. Just this week, on December 4, 2017, I got a
second tattoo. This one, more publicly located on my collar bone, was simply a cluster of snowflakes.
Immediately, I was bombarded with the question, Why snowflakes? I couldn t give a meaningful
answer as I could with my first tattoo, so I would simply reply with, I like snow. This response was
not well received, as people could not understand why I would put something that permanent on my
body just because I like it. Social interactions like these are all too common for tattooed people, and
especially so for women. It is these interactions, and those between family members, employers, and
more, that Beverly Yuen Thompson explores in her book. She first dives into the history of tattoos,
explaining how they came to be and why they are, to this day, stigmatized. She questions how heavily
tattooed women interact with others on a daily basis, be it strangers, friends, or family. Her main point
is that tattoos should not be considered any differently than any other body modifications, such as
plastic surgery, and that the public should learn the proper etiquette to promote harmony between
tattooed persons and non tattooed persons. For her book, Thompson conducted a study consisting of
interviewing several heavily tattooed women. She defines someone as heavily tattooed when

Essay On Depreciation
Depreciation of Fixed Assets
Depreciation
A business may acquire fixed assets such as land, buildings, machinery, office equipment, delivery
equipment and natural resources (e.g. a piece if mining land)to help in the process of its operations to
earn revenue in order to make a profit. Such assets, by their very nature, provide benefits to the
business for more than one financial year or period. In fact, when a business buys a fixed asset at a
certain cost (say $10,000), it is actually buying a bundle of service benefits that will be provided by
that fixed asset over a period of time in the future (say 10 years).
Take, for example, when a wholesaler buys a delivery van, it is in effect buying transporting services
for his goods that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calculation of Depreciation
It is very difficult to come to the true value of the service benefits provided by a fixed asset that is
used up or consumed during an accounting period. Depreciation is at best an estimate, depending on
which method we use. It is only after the fixed asset is sold off that we can know for certain how
much depreciation should actually have been.
Depreciation can be calculated by one of the following methods: 1. The Straight Line or Fixed
Instalment method; 2. The Reducing Balance or Diminishing Balance method; and 3. The Revaluation
method.
Straight Line or Fixed Instalment Method
By this method, the fixed asset is assumed to depreciate at equal amount for every year of its expected
lifetime. The cost of the asset is spread evenly over its lifetime.
Reducing Balance or Diminishing Balance Method
By this method, the asset is supposed to depreciate at a fixed percentage of its depreciated value (or
book value) at the beginning of each year. The amount set aside for depreciation will diminish with
every successive period since the value of the asset at the beginning of every successive period tends
to diminish.
The main advantage of this method is that in the Profit and Loss Account, the amount of overall
expenses charged for the use of a fixed asset would be more or less constant throughout the asset s
lifetime. This is because depreciation is only one of the expenses involved. Other

The Treasure Within the Money Pit on Oak Island
The Treasure Within There is a mystery that brings together the Holy Grail, a band of pirates, William

People have thrown millions of life savings hoping to get their hands on the treasure in the Oak Island
Money Pit, and all have met with failure. This pit has withstood two centuries of people trying to
discover the treasure within. I am certain there is treasure located in the Money Pit on Oak Island. Oak
Island is located off the shores of Nova Scotia, along Canada s Atlantic Coast. It is one of three

native forest and shrubbery cover most of its interior. It s about 200 meters from the shore of Nova

Persuasive Essay On Obamacare
Obamacare is one of the most talked about and debated issues of the century. Republicans want it
repealed. Democrats want it to thrive. It s effectiveness is not determined by politics, but by positive
results. The vision of Obamacare is to provide healthcare for all Americans. The legislation provides
the tools and framework to allow this ambitious goal of Obamacare to be met. Now, three years after
its start date, it s clear these goals are well on the way to being achieved. Obviously, in a free society,
there will be those who disagree and will not sign up for healthcare for various reasons. Despite these
people who disagree, the vast majority of Americans are now insured. Obamacare is effective because
it expands overall health benefits, provides coverage for millions, and helps the economy, allowing
Americans to be healthier, live longer, and out of medical debt. The primary purpose of Obamacare is
to provide access to healthcare to all Americans. Since it was implemented three years ago, it has

record producer within the music industry. Different producers make use of studio technology in
different ways, often depending on the style of music that they are producing, their preferred method
of production and the band s preference of sound.
The development of recording technology has run parallel to a reorientation in popular music
production. The goal of getting a good sound is no different now than it was when the first recordings
were made, but the idea of what a good sound is and how it should be achieved are radically different.

He would use quite a lot of compression on Kurt Cobain s vocals so that he could control his
dynamics, and would also do some double tracking.
Vig would record the guitars in a very different way, with a great emphasis on the use of distortion. On
the track Breed , Cobain used a Rat distortion pedal which was direct injected . The signal was split
and run into an amp and the direct injection was run to the board to create a fuzzy white noise kind of
sound (Butch Vig, from R. Buskin: Butch Vig. Talking Garbage. [online] available from:

Working with the band Garbage promoted a different take on producing for Butch Vig. Instead of
simply producing the band, he was also a member of it. Samplers played a huge part in Vig s work in
Garbage, unlike with Nirvana, where recording was based primarily on live instruments. I got bored
spending so many years recording really fast, straightforward punk records, so that s why we didn t
want to approach the Garbage record from the angle of a band playing live. Instead it was like We can
record 47 guitars on this song, mix it down to a stereo sample, then run it backwards, record another
20 guitars and process them so that they sound like a percussion instrument. . (Butch Vig, from R.

Mob Mentality In The Ox-Bow Incident
The Ox Bow Incident delves into a very specific, yet prevalent aspect of human nature: mob
mentality. When the posse is formed and the deputy joins in, he decides to abide by decisions of the
majority. This complete submission to the demands of the crowd eliminates the presence of a real
governing body, handing over the rule to the mob. This is further amplified by the amount of despair
and anger over the whole situation; in these times, reason and justice seem to be far less appealing
than immediate action. It is easy to succumb to this mob mentality. When one is faced head on with an
issue, they have to take sides. Society has always been in a rather polarized state when it comes to
opinions. It is hard to be neutral in a world where time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an opinion occurs often enough, you naturally assume it as truth and carry on, usually without
thinking for yourself. Ultimately, you become part of the mob. When people are part of a mob, they
tend to lose self awareness. Groups tend to generate a sense of emotional excitement, which leads to
the provocation of behaviors that a person would not typically engage in if alone. Take a concert for
instance. It s pretty unlikely one would stand up and cheer if they were the only one doing it; it would
not feel normal. If everyone else did, of course they would too. Mob mentality makes behaviors that
otherwise would not be seen as acceptable suddenly acceptable. The larger the group, the higher the
loss of self awareness occurs. There is a kind of anonymity that comes with being part of a large
group. Also, many people would not hold themselves accountable for violent behavior when part of a
mob, because they perceive the action as the group s doing, and thus don t take any personal
responsibility for it. With all this comes a total erasure of social inhibitions, as well as a total erasure
of basic ethics and morals. These people seem to trade these things for what is supposed to be normal

Lena Horne
Singer/actress Lena Horne s primary occupation was nightclub entertaining, a profession she pursued
successfully around the world for more than 60 years, from the 1930s to the 1990s. In conjunction
with her club work, she also maintained a recording career that stretched from 1936 to 2000 and
brought her three Grammys, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1989; she appeared in 16
feature films and several shorts between 1938 and 1978; she performed occasionally on Broadway,
including in her own Tony winning one woman show, Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music in 1981
1982; and she sang and acted on radio and television. Adding to the challenge of maintaining such a
career was her position as an African American facing discrimination ... Show more content on

Jones owed his job a clerk in the county coroner s office to political patronage. It did not bring in
much money, and in 1938, when Horne was approached by an agent with an offer to co star in a low
budget all black movie musical with a mere ten day shooting schedule in Hollywood, she accepted.
The film was The Duke Is Tops, released in July 1938. Later in the year, Horne was asked to take on a
more time consuming project, a part in a new mounting of producer Lew Leslie s all black musical
revue Blackbirds. Again, she accepted in the name of increasing the family income, spending months
in rehearsals and out of town tryouts before Lew Leslie s Blackbirds of 1939 opened on Broadway on
February 11, 1939. One of Horne s numbers was You re So Indifferent, written by Sammy Fain and
Mitchell Parish, a song she would keep in her repertoire. The show ran only nine performances,
closing February 18.
Horne returned to Pittsburgh, where she temporarily separated from her husband, then reconciled with
him. She began taking singing engagements in the homes of wealthy families in the area. She also
became pregnant again, and her son, Edwin Fletcher ( Teddy ) Jones, was born in February 1940. That
fall, she made a final separation from her husband (they were formally divorced in June 1944) and
moved to New York to restart her career. In December, she accepted an offer to join the

Investigating the Relationship between Cell Size and Rate of Diffusion
Ban Madi
11 Dp Biology SL
Research Question: How does the size of the cell affect its efficiency in exchanging substances
through several ways, like diffusion?
Aim: To plan and carry out an investigation to show the relationship between volume/Cm3, surface
area, and diffusion using agar cubes measured in time/s; and to demonstrate, using diffusion, why the
size of cells is limited, keeping the room temperature and pressure constant.
Hypothesis: I expect to find that when the surface area to volume of a cell reaches a certain level,
diffusion alone won t be able to supply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conclusion:
The experiment proved my hypothesis correct that as the size of the Agar cube grows larger; the
diffusion rate will be slower therefore taking up more time. The cubes were put into hydrochloric acid
and left by, in order to exchange materials through diffusion, as a sample of cells in real life. As we
can see the cube with the largest surface area and volume has the smallest surface area to volume
ratio. If the surface area to volume ratio gets too small, then the substances won t be able to enter the
cell fast enough to fuel the reactions, because the surface area controls the rate of the exchange of
materials while as the volume grows larger it will need more materials to enter and exit, in a more
quicker rate, therefore waste products will start to accumulate within the cell as they will be produced
faster than they can be excreted. In addition, the cells will not be able to lose heat fast enough and so
may overheat. This was concluded from the experiment, where as the Agar cube dimension were
larger, the rate of diffusion was much smaller from the Agar cube with the smaller dimension, where
the last had a larger V: SA ratio than the larger cube.
Errors and Improvements:

Destiny Case
Internet Security Protocols Internet security protocols use many different methods to protect your
computer from dangers across the internet. Because there are so many methods to do this with, there
are also many protocols concerning internet security. Internet protocols as a group are often referred to
as TCP or IP. TCP stands for Transmission Control Protocol and IP stands for Internet Protocol.
Internet Protocol will deal only with packets but Transmission Control Protocols allows more than one
host to connect and exchange the data they see fit to share. Transmission Control Protocols not only
make sure that your data gets delivered but that the packets sent by you will be delivered in the order
that the user sends them.
Kerberos is the first internet security protocol to be discussed. It is a computer network authentication
protocol. This security protocol allows nodes that have to communicate through a non secure network
to prove their identities to the other user/s. It was designed mainly to be used for in client to server
situations. It is an effective model for client to server usage because it provides authentication for, and
from, both sides. Kerberos uses Symmetric key cryptography as a basis for its security. Throughout
the authentication process it could use public key cryptography instead of the Symmetric Key
Cryptography. In the AAA protocol, the A s stand for Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting.

Everyone goes through rites of passages like, walking, talking, and making mistakes. It s all a part of
growing up. Martin and Dachena go through rites of passages in some similar and some different
ways. Martin s grandpa comes into town because it s almost time for him to pass down the medicine
bag to his grandson Martin. His rite of passage is him receiving this medicine bag and becoming one
of the tribe. Dachena s rite of passage is a coming of age ritual. She has a big ceremony all about her

  • 2. How Is Hitler A Victim Of Post-War Propaganda The Myth dispeller Is Hitler a victim of post war propaganda; why has the term Nazi become a term of abuse and was Hitler really a racist? Myth #1 Propaganda in the west Hitler was not averse to treading on people s toes and the biggest toes he trod on are those of the Jews. Like others before him, he stemmed the tide of European Jewry, but failed to conquer worldwide Zionism, especially in the U.S. The legacy he left behind him and especially his final testament still echo s today. Centuries will pass away, but out of the ruins of our towns and monuments the hatred against those finally responsible whom we have to thank for everything, international Jewry and its helpers, will grow. It took only two post war decades for the Jews ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Hitler s SS, over a third originated from foreign nations, including a Muslim Handschar division, Indians, Arabs and a Russian Vlasov RLA. This was whilst the blacks in the U.S. armed forces were still segregated, and twenty years before the UK, who still had signs in guesthouses in the 1960 s which read No Irish, dogs or blacks. Hitler believed in the superiority of races and distinctions amongst them, not racism which is a dislike of colour. The Second World War German army was the most ethnically diverse in history. Hitler simply believed in the separation of races and the total exclusion of the Jews. The white supremacy label then is a recent add on, designed to evoke feelings of racialism amongst a dumbed down and largely ignorant population. Six million, Oi veh! It is all designed to mislead and misinform! I firmly believe that in times to come, probably not in our lifetime, the west will again awake and view Hitler as a man ahead of his time, a prophet. The Jews are a clever and manipulative race, but their downfall, repeated throughout history, is that their genetic inheritance and a racial predisposition for wealth, deception and control, means that they are destined to repeat the same mistakes, which led Hitler to embark on a National Socialist ... • 3. Problems Faced By The Asian City Of Beijing Conflicts in Measuring Progress The intention to step after the Western growth model can lead the Asian cities to the crisis (Heather, 2012). However, recently, China and India have managed to ensure the economic progress and significant living standards improvements for their economically unstable social groups of the population. At the same time, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) pointed out the rising inequality which can soon undermine the very basis of these countries economies success (Heather, 2012). Furthermore, according to the ADB, the gap between the poor and rich has not been reduced (Heather, 2012). This gap has increased and keeps rolling up. The closer analysis of the problem of poverty in the city of Beijing gives the solid reason to claim that the Western model of economic development should not be applied as such to the Asian context. Beijing is one of the largest cities of China characterized with a wide gap between the rich and the poor. According to the Chinese latest five year plan, the current purpose pursued by the government is to ensure a more equitable economic growth at a slower pace as the strategy to narrow this gap. The difference between the poor and rich should be narrowed in terms not only of the social and political necessity but also with regard to the economic aspect. The growing income gap may ultimately have the political consequences for the country. For instance, Beijing is the home for hundreds of thousands of poor rural people ... An Ethical and Global Analysis of Software Offshore Outsourcing Introduction Before acquiring its current negative connotation, outsourcing referred to the practice of turning over parts of a business to a company that specialized in that activity. For instance, Cisco Systems, Brocade Communications, and other leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) outsource their manufacturing to Solectron Corporation, where I was a summer intern. By partnering with Solectron, OEMs can gain access to the latest equipment, process knowledge, and manufacturing expertise without making substantial capital investments. The same worker in India earns $1,000 a month.1 Significant cost savings, gaining access to skills not found elsewhere, and providing access to a new market all contribute to the popularity of offshore outsourcing. However, behind the Hakunah Matata lies a movie laced with symbolism and mythical references. An online article from Thinkquest.org informs that the movie s popular Elephant Graveyard represents the mythical Realm of Hades. The article continues to delve deeper into the symbolism, stating that the three hyenas, Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed, represent the three headed beast, Cerebus, that guards Hades Realm. The themes and plot lines of the modern era s most famous books and movies trace back to the Greek myths. Medicines are named after the characters of famous myths. Businesses choose the names of their companies and products from the ancient myths, lores, and various deities. Everyday phrases reference the centuries old stories. Helen Keller faced a lot of adversity and obstacles in her life. But she got through it. Everyone faces obstacles in their lives, some more than others, but no ones life is just a sunny sea. I will be telling of four stories that are full of amazing people, who, against all odds powered through obstacles and kept going with their lives and competing their dreams against all odds. The Circuit To start off, I will be talking about the story, The Circuit (written by Francisco Jimenez) Panchito, a young kid who belongs to a family of migrant workers, struggles having to leave his homes everytime the harvest ends. This leads him to not having many friendships, missing school very often, and not always having the greatest sleeping quarters. There are those who say robotics can be used to achieve the impossible, to perfect existing methods and narrow down the potential for risk, or to make life easier. On the other hand, there are plenty of cons that are a cause for concern when it comes to robots that are just now coming to the light, previously never having been imagined. He left out invaluable statistics that are provided on DRSS s main website daVinci Surgery, such as the fact that DRSS has been used successfully in about 1.5 million surgeries. The Civil War, living conditions, mosquitoes, fresh water, and isolation are some of the main hardships that many of the settlers had to experience, but only a few could endure the setbacks and live prosperous lives, as well as their families. Henry Geiger, Temple Pent, and Happy Jack were the most prosperous men during the hard times of the Key West, and through others around them, their stories can now live on. Captain Temple Pent, was self educated, a skilled seaman, and pilot. Viele informs us, Pent was at sea at an early age of his life. At the age 16 he began to tend to a piece of land, better known today as Coconut Grove. After Florida was bought by the US, he became a citizen and had a family. Because of his reputation at sea, Commodore Porter offered Pent to serve as a squadron official. Pent moved his family to Key Vacas when the Seminole became violent, and eventually fled to Key West. Andy Goldsworthy Analysis In the second half of the twentieth century, artistic movements made pushes in order to move beyond the traditional gallery space, changing the terrain of displaying and making art. An artist s body of work no longer needed to reside inside of a gallery or art collection, and artists became free to explore other ways of creating and displaying work. In this vein, Andy Goldsworthy works sculpturally with natural media, and leaves the sculptures within a particular environment, often expecting his work to decay quickly. Many times, the only evidence of any art he makes is the photographs taken during the process. By more traditional standards, art of this nature is entirely contradictory. I feel that recreational drugs today (not for medical use) should not be banned. I envision a world where drugs and even alcohol are legal. In my eyes the world does not appear different. • 12. `` The Ecstasy Of Influence `` By Jonathan Allen Lethem New ideas come from everywhere whether they are from people, places, books, animals, or even come from something as meaningless as silence; however, we don t just get new ideas out of the blue, we have to be inspired and influenced by those elements to create new art. Unlike Plato s Ion, which states that God speaks through the artists, Lethem s The Ecstasy of Influence: A plagiarism; projects that inspiration comes from the influence of our surroundings which is the key to creation. Jonathan Allen Lethem, a modern American essayists, writes the article in which he talks about how some artists see plagiarism as a wrong doing or stealing. Lethem disagrees with those artists point of view. He writes, most artists are converted to art by art itself. Finding one s voice isn t just an emptying and purifying oneself of the words of others but an adopting and embracing of filiations, communities, and discourses (Lethem 87). This means that there is an inspiration behind every artist s work. The inspiration could come from something as simple as expanding another artists works. It is normal for an artist to be inspired by other artists, and then invents a work of art that is similar to his/her inspiration. For instance, Lethem gives an example of how South Park, the TV show, was inspired by Rankin/Bass and Charlie Brown Christmas specials. Most of the time, plagiarism could lead to a great work of creativity. Today, almost all work of art, whether they are movies, books, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing Macbeth And Great Expectations There are more than enough examples from Macbeth and Great Expectations to prove that subversion of gender roles, a term that describes someone acting in a way that is not expected from those of their said gender, is evident in both writing pieces. There are a number of connections between the women of the play and novel; this can be seen in their stern, powerful and leader like and always changing personalities that a number of female characters share. For instance, Miss Havisham s burning hatred for men that she implemented into Estella s mind, to Lady Macbeth s level of ambition to have her husband become king. Others include similarities in levels of knowledge, even though they were considered commoners on a part of the social ladder where a lack of knowledge is expected, and examples of how they use their high levels of knowledge to their advantage. This can also be considered evidence of subversion of gender roles; women at the time were not expected to be knowledgeable by society as they are now. Other connections would be based on the topic of visual appearance overall, with connections to how they portray themselves to other characters and the reader throughout. The women of these two works show an exceptionable amount of power, control and capability of holding a family together a number of times throughout the novel and the play. • 20. Privacy Act Pros And Cons When this act was made effective in October of 2001, many people came out and criticized it. They claimed that the act infringed on some of their rights and their privacy. According to Pizzo (2015), the most criticized was the act s section 215 of Title II, which gave the FBI access to the personal records of US citizens, including medical, financial, telephone, and library records. To obtain records, the FBI would issue a national security letter (NSL), which demanded the handover of relevant communication records and included a gag order to preemptively prohibit discussing the receipt of the NSL and challenging the NSL in court. The ACLU charged that section 215 and its gag order violated the First Amendment s protection of free speech. Cells are the basic structural and functional units of life. Cells are made up of many different parts which allow them to function properly. All cells are separated from their surrounding by a cell membrane. The cell membrane regulates what enters and leaves the cell and also aids in the protection and support of the cell. A cell membrane is similar to the walls surrounding your house. In plants the cell membrane is surrounded by a cell wall. The cell wall is outside the cell membrane, and its purpose is to help the membrane protect and support the cell. Since the cell wall is very porous, water, oxygen, ... Mitochondria changes the chemical energy stored in food into compounds that are more convenient for the cell to use. The mitochondrion contains two special membranes. The outer membrane surrounds the organelle, and the inner membrane has many folds that increase the surface area of the mitochondrion. Ribosomes are the structures in which proteins are made. Cells that are active in protein synthesis are often crowded with ribosomes. Ribosomes are composed of RNA and protein. The cane toad was introduced to Australia under the mistaken impression that it would only eat the insects they hoped it would. Garlic mustard was introduced as an herb. It is seen through a particular setting such as in a sport like a football. It allows people to have faith and hope in themselves that they can achieve in something no matter how much criticism they endure. According to Putney s God s in the Gym Muscular Christianity is an idea that lets people honor or celebrate their bodies. Many hoped that physical experience might increase release from body rejecting and social limitations. Although sports were denied in some religions due its belief that it would take away peoples devotions of their spiritual being, some people were in favor of it. Although Muscular Christianity was a concept that people had by praying to God to be better at a sport, this idea is currently dying down. There are some contemporary examples that show Muscular Christianity still exists today but without religiously relying on and the use of God. People that play popular sports such as football players, female champions, the still growing YMCA, and the striving athletes in the Olympic games all have faith in themselves and do not need God. They all have shown great achievement in their field with the help of Muscular Christianity without the need of God s faith. However, the movie Chariots of Fire shows an immense amount of Muscular Christianity but is not considered a contemporary example of it due to the religion limitations portrayed. Daisy seems pure and innocent, but her behavior is so unrefined leaving her open to suspicions of crudity. As Daisy can be said to personify the American woman, such qualities of innocence and crudity can be said to apply to the American woman as well. Daisy s purity is further explored in her dealings with the few expatriate Americans that she encounters in Europe. The characteristics of the expatriates consist of familiarity with American social behavior, although European social behavior is favored. This adds to the contrast between the American and European social standard. Mrs. Walker, an American expatriate, is a perfect example of the difference between the standards of America and Europe. After sympathizing with Daisy s behavioral ignorance, Mrs. Walker attempts to help Daisy from further ruining her fast developing reputation. Daisy s refusal to accept advice creates additional isolation from the social society in Europe for her. While the main focus is the bombing of Dresden during World War II, the book isn t really about Dresden; Vonnegut merely uses this specific battle as a method to express his strong sentiment against war in general. In the early part of the novel, Vonnegut narrates his visit to Bernard O Hare s home. O Hare s wife, Mary suddenly launches into an angry outburst after mumbling to herself for a time, and Vonnegut says She [Mary O Hare] had been talking to herself, so what she said was a fragment of a much larger conversation (Vonnegut 18). In including the excerpt from the book, which is a study of crowd psychology, Vonnegut is borrowing wholesale from a history text. This text seeps into the voice of the narrator and subliminally impacts how the reader interprets the narrative. This is a method of foreshadowing the ideas that come later in the book in various forms and priming the reader to think in a certain way. Using this historical text also lends credibility to Vonnegut s writing, since the book he cites is often cited as the best book ever written about market psychology. Historically, the Children s Crusade resulted from the glamorization of war in children s eyes, as evidenced in the next part of the intertext: History in her solemn page...pathway of blood and tears. Romance, on the other hand, dilates upon their piety and heroism, and portrays, in her most glowing and impassioned hues, their virtue and magnanimity, the imperishable honor they acquired for themselves, and the great services they rendered to Christianity. (Vonnegut 20). The romantic representation of war is contrasted with the true historical representation of war by use of the phrase on the other hand , implying that the historical and romantic portrayals of war cannot possibly coexist. • 33. The Two Components Of Blood Pressure 1. The two constituents of blood pressure are systolic pressure and diastolic pressure; the highest and lowest pressure readings during ventricular systole and diastole, respectively. Pulse pressure is the difference between these two readings and represents the blood being pushed into the aorta from the left ventricle. However, a blood pressure value can be given as an average pressure in the arteries which forces the flow of blood from the heart. This value is the mean arterial pressure (MAP). Cardiac output (CO) and Total Peripheral Resistance (TPR) are the physiological determinants of MAP. CO is the volume of blood pumped by one ventricle in a given period of time (Silverthorn, 2007). It is determined by the heart rate (HR), which is the number of beats per minute, and the stroke volume (SV), which is the volume of blood pumped by a ventricle during a contraction. Venous return is the volume of blood with returns to the heart via the vena cava. With reference to the Frank Starling relationship, if CO increases, venous return should also increase, however changes in vasoconstriction can affect the venous return, thus effecting MAP. According to Poiseuille s Law, the radius of the arterioles directly impacts the resistance of blood flow to peripheral circulation, which is termed TPR. Blood volume also impacts the MAP. A larger blood volume will exert more pressure on the arterioles and therefore increase blood pressure. Furthermore, the kidneys can filter the blood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The three important signs to initially address and understand the science behind are perivasculitis, retinal vascular sheathing and retinal hemorrhages. All three medical definitions appear straightforward and all very similar, but the combination of the three leads to a serious diagnosis and urgency for this patient. Perivasculitis is an inflammation of a sheath surrounding the tissue 1. In class we discussed the differences between perivasculitis and periflabitis. Perivasculitis should be white because of the inflammation and the white blood cells then spilling out. The Prefix peri means around, or on the outside of the tissue. Retinal vascular sheathing is sheathing or cuffing of blood vessels and vitreous cells . The swelling or cuffing of blood vessels in the retinal layer is a serious condition and is often associated with vasculitis. Just this week, on December 4, 2017, I got a second tattoo. This one, more publicly located on my collar bone, was simply a cluster of snowflakes. Immediately, I was bombarded with the question, Why snowflakes? I couldn t give a meaningful answer as I could with my first tattoo, so I would simply reply with, I like snow. This response was not well received, as people could not understand why I would put something that permanent on my body just because I like it. Social interactions like these are all too common for tattooed people, and especially so for women. It is these interactions, and those between family members, employers, and more, that Beverly Yuen Thompson explores in her book. She first dives into the history of tattoos, explaining how they came to be and why they are, to this day, stigmatized. She questions how heavily tattooed women interact with others on a daily basis, be it strangers, friends, or family. Her main point is that tattoos should not be considered any differently than any other body modifications, such as plastic surgery, and that the public should learn the proper etiquette to promote harmony between tattooed persons and non tattooed persons. Such assets, by their very nature, provide benefits to the business for more than one financial year or period. In fact, when a business buys a fixed asset at a certain cost (say $10,000), it is actually buying a bundle of service benefits that will be provided by that fixed asset over a period of time in the future (say 10 years). Calculation of Depreciation It is very difficult to come to the true value of the service benefits provided by a fixed asset that is used up or consumed during an accounting period. Depreciation is at best an estimate, depending on which method we use. It is only after the fixed asset is sold off that we can know for certain how much depreciation should actually have been. Depreciation can be calculated by one of the following methods: 1. The Straight Line or Fixed Instalment method; 2. The Reducing Balance or Diminishing Balance method; and 3. The Revaluation method. Straight Line or Fixed Instalment Method By this method, the fixed asset is assumed to depreciate at equal amount for every year of its expected lifetime. The cost of the asset is spread evenly over its lifetime. Reducing Balance or Diminishing Balance Method By this method, the asset is supposed to depreciate at a fixed percentage of its depreciated value (or book value) at the beginning of each year. The amount set aside for depreciation will diminish with every successive period since the value of the asset at the beginning of every successive period tends to diminish. The main advantage of this method is that in the Profit and Loss Account, the amount of overall expenses charged for the use of a fixed asset would be more or less constant throughout the asset s lifetime. This is because depreciation is only one of the expenses involved. Other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This mystery is the Money Pit located on Oak Island. People have thrown millions of life savings hoping to get their hands on the treasure in the Oak Island Money Pit, and all have met with failure. This pit has withstood two centuries of people trying to discover the treasure within. I am certain there is treasure located in the Money Pit on Oak Island. Oak Island is located off the shores of Nova Scotia, along Canada s Atlantic Coast. It is one of three hundred and sixty islands around Mahone Bay. Rocks and sand skirt the perimeter of the island while native forest and shrubbery cover most of its interior. It s about 200 meters from the shore of Nova Scotia and is approximately 140 acres. The discovery of Oak Island s Money Pit begins in the summer of 1795 when a teenager named Daniel McGinnis saw strange lights on an island offshore from his parent s house. He noticed an odd circular depression roughly 13 ft. in diameter on the island s forest floor (The Last Great N. page). He also saw that a good amount of oak trees around the recession had been cut down. McGinnis decided to leave the island to ask for the help of his two friends, John Smith and Anthony Vaughan. The next day, the three teenagers began excitedly digging on the curious site. They were so excited because the unpopulated wilderness of the region provided ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Persuasive Essay On Obamacare Obamacare is one of the most talked about and debated issues of the century. Republicans want it repealed. Democrats want it to thrive. It s effectiveness is not determined by politics, but by positive results. The vision of Obamacare is to provide healthcare for all Americans. The legislation provides the tools and framework to allow this ambitious goal of Obamacare to be met. Now, three years after its start date, it s clear these goals are well on the way to being achieved. Obviously, in a free society, there will be those who disagree and will not sign up for healthcare for various reasons. Despite these people who disagree, the vast majority of Americans are now insured. Obamacare is effective because it expands overall health benefits, provides coverage for millions, and helps the economy, allowing Americans to be healthier, live longer, and out of medical debt. The primary purpose of Obamacare is to provide access to healthcare to all Americans. Since it was implemented three years ago, it has succeeded in adding many Americans to the roles of the insured. In addition, the insurance provided is not a watered down version of health care. Each person insured is guaranteed a minimum of 10 essential health benefits. The 10 essential health benefits were carefully crafted to insure that Americans receive quality health care. The 10 essential benefits are ambulatory patient services (outpatient services), emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Role Of Recording Studio Technology Essay The Role Of Recording Studio Technology Studio technology has developed drastically over the years and has become ever more vital to the record producer within the music industry. Different producers make use of studio technology in different ways, often depending on the style of music that they are producing, their preferred method of production and the band s preference of sound. The development of recording technology has run parallel to a reorientation in popular music production. The goal of getting a good sound is no different now than it was when the first recordings were made, but the idea of what a good sound is and how it should be achieved are radically different. He would use quite a lot of compression on Kurt Cobain s vocals so that he could control his dynamics, and would also do some double tracking. Vig would record the guitars in a very different way, with a great emphasis on the use of distortion. On the track Breed , Cobain used a Rat distortion pedal which was direct injected . The signal was split and run into an amp and the direct injection was run to the board to create a fuzzy white noise kind of sound (Butch Vig, from R. Buskin: Butch Vig. Talking Garbage. Instead of simply producing the band, he was also a member of it. Samplers played a huge part in Vig s work in Garbage, unlike with Nirvana, where recording was based primarily on live instruments. I got bored spending so many years recording really fast, straightforward punk records, so that s why we didn t want to approach the Garbage record from the angle of a band playing live. Instead it was like We can record 47 guitars on this song, mix it down to a stereo sample, then run it backwards, record another 20 guitars and process them so that they sound like a percussion instrument. . • 45. Mob Mentality In The Ox-Bow Incident The Ox Bow Incident delves into a very specific, yet prevalent aspect of human nature: mob mentality. When the posse is formed and the deputy joins in, he decides to abide by decisions of the majority. This complete submission to the demands of the crowd eliminates the presence of a real governing body, handing over the rule to the mob. This is further amplified by the amount of despair and anger over the whole situation; in these times, reason and justice seem to be far less appealing than immediate action. It is easy to succumb to this mob mentality. When one is faced head on with an issue, they have to take sides. Society has always been in a rather polarized state when it comes to opinions. It is hard to be neutral in a world where time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If an opinion occurs often enough, you naturally assume it as truth and carry on, usually without thinking for yourself. Ultimately, you become part of the mob. When people are part of a mob, they tend to lose self awareness. Groups tend to generate a sense of emotional excitement, which leads to the provocation of behaviors that a person would not typically engage in if alone. Take a concert for instance. It s pretty unlikely one would stand up and cheer if they were the only one doing it; it would not feel normal. If everyone else did, of course they would too. Mob mentality makes behaviors that otherwise would not be seen as acceptable suddenly acceptable. The larger the group, the higher the loss of self awareness occurs. There is a kind of anonymity that comes with being part of a large group. Also, many people would not hold themselves accountable for violent behavior when part of a mob, because they perceive the action as the group s doing, and thus don t take any personal responsibility for it. With all this comes a total erasure of social inhibitions, as well as a total erasure of basic ethics and morals. These people seem to trade these things for what is supposed to be normal and ... The film was The Duke Is Tops, released in July 1938. Later in the year, Horne was asked to take on a more time consuming project, a part in a new mounting of producer Lew Leslie s all black musical revue Blackbirds. Agar Cube Lab Report Biology Lab Report Investigating the Relationship between Cell Size and Rate of Diffusion Ban Madi 11 Dp Biology SL Research Question: How does the size of the cell affect its efficiency in exchanging substances through several ways, like diffusion? Aim: To plan and carry out an investigation to show the relationship between volume/Cm3, surface area, and diffusion using agar cubes measured in time/s; and to demonstrate, using diffusion, why the size of cells is limited, keeping the room temperature and pressure constant. Hypothesis: I expect to find that when the surface area to volume of a cell reaches a certain level, diffusion alone won t be able to supply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conclusion: The experiment proved my hypothesis correct that as the size of the Agar cube grows larger; the diffusion rate will be slower therefore taking up more time. The cubes were put into hydrochloric acid and left by, in order to exchange materials through diffusion, as a sample of cells in real life. As we can see the cube with the largest surface area and volume has the smallest surface area to volume ratio. If the surface area to volume ratio gets too small, then the substances won t be able to enter the cell fast enough to fuel the reactions, because the surface area controls the rate of the exchange of materials while as the volume grows larger it will need more materials to enter and exit, in a more quicker rate, therefore waste products will start to accumulate within the cell as they will be produced faster than they can be excreted. In addition, the cells will not be able to lose heat fast enough and so may overheat. This was concluded from the experiment, where as the Agar cube dimension were larger, the rate of diffusion was much smaller from the Agar cube with the smaller dimension, where the last had a larger V: SA ratio than the larger cube. Errors and Improvements: Error Improvement Parallax error, resulting in a misreading in volume. This is caused by reading the volume readings from an angle, thus to ... • 48. Internet Security Protocol Essay Capstone Essay 1st hour 4/10/2015 Destiny Case Internet Security Protocols Internet security protocols use many different methods to protect your computer from dangers across the internet. Because there are so many methods to do this with, there are also many protocols concerning internet security. Internet protocols as a group are often referred to as TCP or IP. TCP stands for Transmission Control Protocol and IP stands for Internet Protocol. Internet Protocol will deal only with packets but Transmission Control Protocols allows more than one host to connect and exchange the data they see fit to share. Transmission Control Protocols not only make sure that your data gets delivered but that the packets sent by you will be delivered in the order that the user sends them. Kerberos is the first internet security protocol to be discussed. It is a computer network authentication protocol. This security protocol allows nodes that have to communicate through a non secure network to prove their identities to the other user/s. It was designed mainly to be used for in client to server situations. It is an effective model for client to server usage because it provides authentication for, and from, both sides. Kerberos uses Symmetric key cryptography as a basis for its security. Throughout the authentication process it could use public key cryptography instead of the Symmetric Key Cryptography. In the AAA protocol, the A s stand for Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
