Disappointing Tragedy Of Suicide Squad
Disappointing Tragedy in Suicide Squad
Suicide Squad (2016) is a comic book based movie that was announced late 2014 with the
expectation of being a thrilling film. David Ayer, the director of Suicide Squad, has many years
of experience working on action based movies. Some familiar movies that he directed are: The
Fast and the Furious (2001), S.W.A.T (2003), and Fury (2014). Some of these films received
double the ratings Suicide Squad obtained. In spite of Ayer s professional history, he failed to make
an appealing movie. The Unorganized editing, negligent lovers story, and incorrect character
portrayal, are just some reasons Suicide Squad received low ratings from many trustworthy movie
critics.
In summary, Some of the most dangerous criminals that have been placed in death row get an
opportunity to shed years off their life sentences if they accept to work secretly for the
government as disposable assets. Five criminals and two volunteer heroes must work together to
save the world from supernatural villains threatening to destroy the world. The group of villains
given the name Suicide Squad are controlled by Amanda Waller a ruthless government official
that runs a prison facility called Belle Reve. A nano bomb is implanted into the criminal s necks;
the bomb can be detonated at any instance of attempted insubordination. The task force is placed

Summary Of News From America By John Underhill
John Underhill promotes two values in his story News from America . John Underhill promotes
the belief in God and the Bible and he also criticizes the belief in God and the Bible. At this time
in history, the beliefs were strong in the faith of God. John Underhill s beliefs were strongly
tested between him and his men in this fight. While John Underhill was a career fighter and
leader in several battles, he really seems to struggle with his faith and if he should trust his faith or
should he just forget it and do what he sees fit. One of the values that John Underhill promotes is
the belief in God. Another example of their belief in God is when they are attacking the Fort and he

thirsty that they were wanting God s help. For some of the soldiers, they were wanting to die
because they thought that God was refusing to help them. John and the other soldiers John and
the other soldiers were waiting by the Pequot River for their Pinnaces sail. John writes that they
were in fear because they did not see their sails. The fear was that the Lord had betrayed them
since they belief in that it was up to God to what happens to them. John Underhill had his value

and their Indian allies were killing the women and children. He writes It may be demanded,
Why should you be so furious (as some have said) should not Christians have more mercy and
compassion? (78). John Underhill uses the Bible to defend their actions of the killings of women
and children during the battle with David s war. He also writes We had sufficient light from the
word of God for our proceedings (78). He uses this statement to also help to justify their actions

Frederick Douglass And Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels
Both authors Frederick Douglass and Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels focus on the topic of
freedom. Both authors argue that they are being oppressed. However, this is where the
similarities end. Engels and Marx believed that capitalism was a social system used by the
proletariats to oppress the bourgeoisie, and that the only way to be free was to fight back
against the system. On the other hand, Frederick Douglass focuses more on his individual story
and his struggle for freedom, while he tries to appeal to his audience from an ethical point of
view. Frederick Douglass biography revolves around the idea of freedom. After seeing a
traumatizing incident as a child, Douglass slowly begins to realize that he is not a free human
being, but is a slave owned by other people. He is surrounded by a society that devalues him and
people like him, and systematically worked to keep them ignorant and submissive. In this
society, it is made clear that no slave is special, and everyone is replaceable. Rather than accept
this, Douglass struggles to maintain what little autonomy he was allowed to have. When his one
of his masters, Thomas Auld, bans his mistress, Sophia, from teaching Douglass how to read,
Douglass learned from the young boys on the street. His biography shows him transforming from
an ignorant child into his older, more learned self. Douglass sees the idea of slaves in a country
that is as passionate as about its revolution as America hypocritical; in fact, this is the basis

My Background In Public Safety
Case Study My background in public safety is as a Firefighter/EMT for the City of Philadelphia
since April 1997. During that time, I became a Haz Mat technician in 2003, afterword, in 2005, I
qualified as a Technical Recuse Specialist Technician and then spent the next seven years with
Squad 47 namely, a combination technical rescue/Haz Mat unit, that also responds as an engine
company. Currently I am the aide to a deputy chief, who has command of Division One in a
municipality that has two divisions.
One of the problems that needs attention; when working with multi agencies in our city, is the
coordination of the transport of patients in a mass causality incident (MCI), and integrating police
transport into the incident response plans. For example, the derailment of Amtrak passenger train ...

To illustrate the lack of coordination, the injured were disproportionately transported to local
hospitals, over utilizing some hospitals while others were underutilized. This is an undesirable
occurrence in a mass casualty situation, diminishing the care for both the accident victims, and the
current hospital patients. In other words, directing an influx of patients to correspond with hospital
capacity is essential during an MCI. As soon as, an MCI is determined, all hospitals are notified by
the FCC (911 call center). In turn, each hospital reports back on how many patients they can handle,
both trauma and non trauma. As soon as the EMS triage branch supervisor receives this information
he/she can then disperse the various patients to different trauma or non trauma centers, depending

Great Debaters Discussion Questions
In the film The Great Debaters, the true story of a college debate team in Texas highlights the
importance of public speaking. In numerous instances, if a topic makes a large group
uncomfortable this topic goes untouched. However, in this film, the debate team bravely brings on
those topics that are close to their hearts, even though society does not want to talk about these
issues. The most prominent example of uneasy topics is when James Farmer Jr., in the middle of a
Harvard debate, with a predominantly white audience, goes to talk about the lynching of people of
color. While this was a topic purposely not brought up due to making people uncomfortable, by
Farmer doing this it started the discussion. Obviously, one man saying lynching is inhumane does
not solve the problem. However, one voice can start a discussion. Discussions lead to... Show more

Public speaking is the spark that leads to the realization of the need for change. When the world
becomes so conditioned to not talk about the uncomfortable issues, it becomes easy to forget
how harmful they truly are. However, public speaking is that opportunity to hold up that mirror
to society, and command a change to be made. All of the great social shifts were fueled by the
speeches of those who cared. The famous of all being the famous I Have a Dream speech, which
still is quoted today. In order for change to take place, an individual must speak up in some sort of
public forum to identify the problem.
As a passionate person, in my own public speaking experiences, it is extremely easy to let my
emotions overpower my logic. Whether this be negative feelings making me too hotheaded to
focus, or too passionate and rambling, my own emotions get in my way of public speaking.
However, in this film, the character Samantha Brooke was an excellent way to represent people like

Tale Of The Shoe Internal Conflict
The Tale of the Shoe :
The Tale of a Struggle Within
The passage from Emma Donoghue s, The Tale of the Shoe, advances the idea that the struggle
between good and evil does not have to be presented through physical entities that it can be
developed through an internal conflict, which is shown through the use of agency and sensory
experience.
In the well known Cinderella story the antagonists are the evil stepmother and her two daughters,
an external force that attempts to cause suffering for and to control Cinderella. Donoghue s
version of the story argues that this perception of evil is not the only one that exists that evil can
come from an inner source. This is expressed via the manipulation of agency. Although the story
is told in third person limited, the agency of other forces seeps into the narrative. The antagonists
take the form of voices. The voices become a character of their own they have the ability to ask
questions and scold the narrator, They asked why I was still alive (Donoghue 2). These voices
force the protagonist to perform the traditional chores that Cinderella does, Nobody made me do the
things...The shrill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pain is caused by the evil within her and this restricts her. This restriction is seen with her
speech, Every word that came out of my mouth limped away like a toad (Donoghue 1). The fact
that the story opens with a line about the sensation of feeling or touch, Till she came it was all
cold (Donoghue 1) foreshadows that the she who comes will right all the wrongs with the
protagonists touch or senses. The evil within the narrator can only be solved with the help of the
woman, who evokes the good part of the senses. Sensory experience is re established as helpful
with the sight of beauty and goodness, from the woman from the fire, Her eyes had flames in their
centers, and her eyebrows were silvered with ash (Donoghue

Medea Reflection
The common event made me think differently of Medea. This was through having different
actors/actresses reading the same part of the play where Medea speaks to Jason. By having
different actors/actresses reading the same scene from Medea, it allowed me to see what the
purpose of the play was as well as the personal lesson it taught me. The purpose of this play was to
see the emotions of Medeaand to validate her reason for murdering her two kids. The personal
lesson it taught me was to stick up for yourself no matter how bad your situation/circumstance is.
Also, this presentation allowed me to also appreciate the character Medea. Initially, I thought
Medea was evil, strange, and cold hearted, but after the common event, I learned that Medea

Advantages Of Low Cost Strategy
My first and most important goal in undertaking this research assignment is to source, dissect and
analyse the low cost strategy model of Ryanair and how they succeed in using this strategy.
Ryanair, founded in 1985 by a man named Christopher Ryan has grown significantly throughout the
years. It has grown to be the largest airline in Europe in terms of numbers of passengers. This is of
course, down to their low cost strategy. Ryanair s strategy is in no doubt a low cost strategy and
in my opinion, if Ryanair could have the chance to fly passengers for free at a profit they
certainly would! However, this low cost strategy does come at a price. Ryanair are a cheap and
efficient but most certainly no frills airline. Their consumer market ... Show more content on

persistent in implementing the low cost model of Southwest Airlines and set out a long term goal
for Ryanair to achieve. His philosophy was and remains to be, reduce cost in all operations,
eliminate non value added operations and provide the lowest possible air fare to the customer .
His use of standardization was vital in achieving the low cost strategy. Providing a basic uniform
routine for the workers minimised work time and kept the cost downto a minimum allowing them
to offer lower prices. The success of Michael O Leary s low cost strategy can clearly be seen in the
statement, Ryanair are the leading carrier in Europe with every increasing profits.

Self-Torture In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
The mind is an exceptionally fragile thing, when off kilter it can fabricate many ideas and
feelings. Many writers believe that there is no death more poetic than that of a beautiful young
woman leaving behind her grieving lover. In the 1845 poem, The Raven, Edgar Allan Poe explores
the psychological madness that comes with trying to escape the curse of time. Poe uses repetition
to uncover character instability, illustrate self torture, and the loss of self that is fearfully avoided
and yet eagerly sought for.
Poe is well known for his suspenseful stories, but attention is seldom drawn to the psychological
nature of them. In, Philosophy of Composition, Poe made it clear that he wanted to have an effect
of beauty correlating with unhappiness. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Computer Field And Technical Education Programs
The lack of qualified employees in computer and technology fields is a perplexing issue for the
United States as it strives to stay competitive in a global economy. According to an article by the
Bureau of National Affairs, two of the top three toughest jobs to fill are technology related (Bureau
of National Affairs, 2012, p. 6). Although there are many theories as to why more students are not
choosing to major in some type of computer field, resolutions to this problem are slow in
developing. Could a solution be emerging from career and technical educationprograms? In 2012
Microsoft Corporation sponsored a study that estimated the U.S. creates 120,000 new computer
science jobs each year. Colleges and universities, however, are only graduating 49,000 students
per year with degrees to fill those positions. This gap has companies scrambling to find qualified
personnel and many are turning to foreign workers using the H1 B Visa program (Beach, 2013,
p. 3). With 7.9 million Americans unemployed, this is not a popular choice and creates a
potential image problem for companies (United States Department of Labor, 2015). Once
considered a dumping ground for students who could not handle a typical high school curriculum,
career and technical education has progressed over the last 30 years. Now, students from a variety
of academic levels enroll in CTE programs (Hoachlander, 2008, p. 25). Additionally, pathways once
considered specific to a certain gender are being

Appalachia is the leading agents of their society. During the documentary, we follow four
different people, and we see their leading agents, which are their parents and families. Shawn s
mother sells pills, Jeremy follows his father in law down into the mines to provide for his
fledgling family, Courtney s mom is a high school dropout and Erica s mom has been in and out

Crime, Deviance, Social Order And Social Control
Different Definitions of: Crime, Deviance, Social order and Social control Crime is defined by
the Oxford dictionary as an action or omission which constitutes an offence and is punishable by
law. (Dictionary, 2015) Whereas deviance is failing to conform to the expectations held by
society without necessarily breaking any laws. Criminal behaviour differs to deviant behaviour
as a person can be deviant without committing a crime and vice versa, a person can be criminal
without being deviant. For example, speeding is a criminal offense but is not considered
abnormal or deviant behaviour as it is committed by the majority of people in society at some
point. Likewise, if a man dresses as a woman in public they are considered to be deviating from
society but are not breaking any laws and therefore are not criminal. This means that behaviour
can be legal, without necessarily being acceptable in society. However, what is considered
acceptable in society can change overtime as well as the removal and creation of certain laws.
For example, over 50 years ago, homosexuality would have been stigmatised as well as illegal
whereas nowadays it is legal and perfectly accepted by the majority in society although some
homophobia does still exists. Social order is the totality of structured human interrelationships in a
society or a part of it. (Webster, 2015) These are the expectations of norms held by society that
pressure people to behave in a certain way which keeps the peace within

Natural Selection Lab Report
The sixth lab I completed in Biology 101 taught me how autotrophs (self feeders) and heterotrophs
(other feeders) make organic food molecules by using photosynthesis. Photosynthesis uses the
energy from the sun and it is captured and stored in the chemical bonds of organic molecules. The
sunlight consists of different wavelengths of light. In plant chloroplasts, they have different
pigments that capture different wavelengths of light. Light capturing pigments in green plants are
called chlorophylls and these absorb all the colors of light except green, which is mostly reflected.
To separate molecules from each other according to their solubility in a particular solvent is done
by the process of chromatography. This basically means that polar... Show more content on

Ecology is the branch of biology that studies the interactions of organisms with each other, and with

Wonder Woman is a 2017 American fantasy and science fiction film based on the DC comics and

setting for Wonder Woman was during World War I, and on an island called Themyscira at the

very first scenes of the movie has action. This scene is when the island Themyscirais invaded by
Germans who are pursuing an unknown pilot and stumbled upon the island. At the beginning many

The European Court Of Justice Delivered A Judgment On...
In September 2014, the European Court of Justice delivered a judgment on Groupement des
Cartes Bancaires v. European Commission. This case was initially decided on by the
commission, and then appealed to the General Court of the European Union. When the General
Court dismissed the appeal, it appealed to the European Court of Justice (ECJ). After hearing the
opinion given by Advocate General N. Wahl (AG Wahl), the ECJ made a decision to quash the
General Court s decision. The case represented the first appeal the ECJ had overturned regarding
the restriction of competition by object of the measures at issue. It will be shown that this case is
the leading authority on the dichotomy of by effect and by object restrictions of competition.

Philosophical Basis of Education
INTRODUCTION
In this unit we will discuss the inter dependence of philosophy and education. After discussing the
impact of philosophy on education and vice versa, we will describe briefly the different schools of
philosophy viz. Naturalism, Idealism and Pragmatism, and their implications for education in
curriculum, role of the teacher and the nature of discipline. While explaining the ideas advocated by
different schools of philosophy on above concepts, this unit will also incorporate the views of both
Western as well as Indian thinkers.

Educational philosophy depends on formal philosophy because most of the major problems of
education are in fact philosophical problems. Like general philosophy, educational philosophy is
speculative, prescriptive critical or analytic.
NATURALISM AND EDUCATION
Naturalism as a philosophy of education was developed in the 18th century. It is based on the
assumpiion that nature represents the wholeness of reality. Nature, itself, is a total system that
contains and explains all existence including human beings and human nature. According to
naturalists the material and the physical world is govered by certain laws, and man, who is the
creator of the material world, must submit to it. It denies the existence of anything beyond nature,
behind nature and other than nature such as supernaturalism.
In terms of epistemology or theory of knowledge, naturalists highlight the value of scientific
knowledge. Francis Bacon emphasizes the inductive method for acquiring the scientific knowledge
through specific observation, accumulation and generalisation. He also lays emphasis on the
empirical and experimental knowledge. Naturalists also lay stress on sensory training as senses are
the gateways to learning.
To naturalists, values arise from the human beings interaction with the environment. Instincts.
drives and impulses need to be expressed rather than repressed. According to them, there is no
absolute good or evil in the world. Values of life are created by

Assess the View That Social Class Differences in...
Assess the view that social class differences in educational achievement are the result of school
processes such as labeling. (20 marks) Labelling refers to meanings or definitions we attach to
someone or something to make sense of them and these could be negative or positive labels. For
example, in schools teachers are likely to label middle class pupils as bright and more able to
achieve in education whereas, they would see working class pupils as less able. Teacher labels can
affect a pupil s educational achievement as it will influence how they perform educationally.
However, there are other school factors which cause underachievement and these are, the self

For example, teachers may give a negative label to a working class pupil and see them as badly
behaved as a result, the pupil would accept that label and live up to it. Therefore, pupils given
negative labels may see themselves as failures and give up trying consequently, fulfilling the
original prophecy. Some sociologists would argue that streaming can affect a pupil s
educational achievement. Streaming refers to separating children into different ability groups
or classes called streams . Each group is then taught separately, according to their ability for all
subjects. In Becker s study, teachers did not see working class children as ideal pupils and were
seen as lacking ability therefore, they were placed in a lower stream. This leads to self fulfilling
prophecy as pupils except their teachers low expectations by under achieving. For example,
Douglas found that children placed in a lower stream at the age of 8 suffered a decline in their IQ
score by the age of 11. In addition, sociologists would argue that pupil subcultures affect the pupils
educational achievement. For example, the pro school subculture contains pupils who have been
placed in higher streams and are committed to school values. Theses pupils are more likely to be
middle class therefore they tend to achieve in education. However, the anti school subculture

Failure of MSCC to take care of personnel. Kovecki was not as skilled as he could have been, he

only person who could keep it running and bringing in money to MSCC. Management should have
taken more interest in Kovecki s desire to run the computer operations. If they had, MSCC
management would never have hired Gramen. This probably would have limited the severity of
this situation and may have avoided it entirely.
The hiring Dick Gramen was a huge mistake. Gramen did not have the skills required to be in this
position. He came from a different computing environment (Macintosh), also he had no experience
on the systems in use at the MSCC. He never had had any prior contact with Unitrak or with any

MSCC had the mindset of we don t look outside our cave. This was clearly eveidenced when
Unitrak s developers found themselves in financial trouble. MSCC should have begun looking at

Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin Assassination
From peasant to supreme mystic, Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin rose through the Russian hierarchy
using his captivating appearance, charm, and supernatural ability. Rasputin s quick surge of
reputation frightened many and rumors started to grow. The divided population recognized
Rasputin as either a healer and prophet or a mad monk with malintent. Questioning Rasputin s
motives and influence, government officials plotted against him. Eventually came a day that the
aristocrats assassinated Rasputin after several failed attempts. Considering the possibility of
assassination, Rasputin left behind prophecy with consequences that would soon follow. Prior to
Rasputin s assassination, extraordinary events unraveled in the realization of his power. Under
unfortunate circumstances, Rasputin was immediately born into poverty on January 21, 1869.

Rehabilitation Of The Body Is Only One Phase Of A...
rehabilitation of the body is only one phase of a continuing life. Similarly, facing a traumatic
event such as EOL adds uncertainty about the future and awareness of human s temporality. A
study of lived experience of son and daughter caregivers seemed potentially helpful to understand
EOL existential experience of the caregiver role and potential development of information that
strengthens caregiver s preparedness. Bachner et al. (2011) and Wong and Tomer (2011) discussed
the value of death acceptance as a means of coming to terms with death constructively, which
would promote preparation for good life and good death. Roth et al. (2013) suggested a benefit of
better understanding of caregiver needs would be to increase positive impacts of caregiving.
Totman et al. (2015) predicted that EOL care impacts caregivers because they are existential beings
and the impending death of their parent disrupts established routines and can impact goals, values,
beliefs, and roles. Wong and Tomer (2011) suggested research designed to explore death acceptance
would add understanding to the mechanisms and pathways to positive outcomes. Therefore, using
an existential framework to analyze adult child caregivers existential experience moves beyond a
simple mechanistic depletion model because stress may relate to conflicts between freedom,
responsibility, beliefs, religiosity, isolation, loss, and continued existence (survival). The depletion

Vocation
People of genius do not excel in any profession because they work in it, they work in it because
they exel. Such a large part of our lives is figuring out what to do with our lives. There are so
many options; often times people are lost as to where to go. In our society, many of the decisions
we make are made with money in mind. People will do almost anything for money, even if that
means being unhappy. This class, and my SI education in general has framed for me a new way of
living. That is, living happily. This does not mean that the work/job I perform is not hard. Instead, it
means, that I must find something that I enjoy doing, and find a career based around my interest.
This concept is essentially vocation. Mick McCarthy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McCarthy believes that he was partly shaped by his home environment (which was steeped in
civic responsibility ) and his educational background. His Jesuit education at SI and SCU gave
him the language to access and discover what, at a far more profound and mysterious level, I so
desired. In sum, McCarthy s discovery of vocation is a combination of mystery, history, desire
and attraction. His approach in determination of a vocation appears to largely a dialogue with
himself and God. Spohn frames his essay on vocation with Ignatian spirituality. He opens with a
description of a job seeker who wants more than just financial compensation from his life work.
He wants his job to have more meaning. In other words, this job seeker is called to the challenge
of discernment in determining a vocation. Spohn breaks down the different aspects of how
Ignatian spiritually helps one seek the right vocation for them. The first important step is prayerful
reflection. This helps one understand personal desires, special talents and the needs of the world
and helps set a foundation for seeking and choosing a path. An authentic calling goes beyond
personal fulfillment and satisfaction to a broader concern for justice which demands that the needs
of others are addressed, even if they are strangers.

PADM 450 Introduction:
The story of Captain D. Michael Abrashoff and his command of USS Benfold has now become
legendary inside and outside the Navy. Captain Abrashoff offers this tale of top down change for
anyone trying to navigate today s uncertain seas. When Captain Abrashoff took over as the
commander of USS Benfold, which is a ship that is completely armed with every cutting edge
system available, but unfortunately, the ship was like a business that has all the latest technology
but it lacked in productivity and teamwork. Knowing that that the responsibility for improving
performance rested with him as the new USS Benfold s Captain, Abrashoff realized that he had to
improve his own leadership skills before he could improve the crew aboard the ship. Within
months, Abrashoff created a crew of confident and inspired problem solvers eager to take
initiative and responsibility for their actions. The slogan on board became It s your ship, and the
USS Benfold was soon recognized far and wide as a model of naval efficiency. (Abrashoff, 2002)

Many of the character s in Austen s Mansfield Park are overly interested in the idea of improving
themselves, and through this Austen gives the reader an insight into each characters wealth and
estate. By doing this Austen is allowing the reader an understanding of her characters social
position and therefore an assumption into their ideas. The patriarchal structure of society
allocates a distinct relationship between the inequality prevalent between male and females,
placing women in a secondary and submissive position within society allows men to remain
dominant and in control of the very society women exist in. an example of this in Austen s
Mansfield park can be seen in the character of Sir Thomas as the head of the family he is
responsible for guiding and protecting his family, this role which he plays is portrayed within the
novel as a necessity. His position within the family allows him to form the female members in a
way in which he believes to be proper, virtuous and morally correct. By placing this character in
her novel Austen is alluding to Wollstonecraft s idea of women being reared t suit the needs and
attitudes of the society around them, in order for them to gain a comfortable place in society
through the prospect of marriage.
When Sir Thomas Bertram is absent from the domestic home it soon becomes clear that Austen has
calculated this absence to highlight the reliance upon men within society in general.

organizations also need to change and adapt very quickly. With success hinging on the ability of
the institution to analyze, predict and adjust in order to meet the market demands and

explained by Kotter would be critical (Leading Change, pg 35). To influence anyone or any

The example of Southwest Airlines and the success of founder, Herb Kelleher illustrates how
leadership being involved in all aspects of the organization and leading by example can drive an
organization to very high levels while the example of the California Electronics firm, though it
appeared they were doing everything right failed miserably and eventually went bankrupt (IKM,
pgs 38 40). I believe the two types of individuals Kotter speaks of as killers of successful change
are not unlike many we have all worked with and around. While Kotter does a great job of
bringing to light something we probably all knew but had never really defined, Buss is bold
enough to borderline categorize these actions as misbehavior (IKM, pg 208). I have worked
around many as Kotter described, snakes and big egos and as I think about the outright damage
caused by these personality types Kotter could have gone farther in his assessment but he does
advocate dealing with the problem at an early stage vs. being relegated to curse ourselves later for
not dealing with the issue (Leading Change, pg 61). Based on my own personal observations while
the snake is busy spreading rumors, talking behind backs and perpetuating mistrust after the damage
is done, the big ego loves to constantly withhold valuable information cause crisis situations and fly
in to save the day. In efforts to build strong teams both texts discuss the need

What restorative justice is a sentencing philosophy and practice that emphasizes an offender taking
responsibility to repair the harm done to the victim and the surrounding community (Alarid,pg.

and the community in terms of healing, reconciliation, and forgiveness, instead of focusing on the
punishment. Restorative justicealso tries to help build up the community life with the victim and the
victims family and peers, with the offenders and his/hers family and peers discussing the situation

the harm done? What needs to happen to repair the harm?

Military Ethics And The Military
Military ethics encompass a wide range of things. In the contemporary world, military ethics
include all facets of military behavior, from issuing regular reviews on juniors to relations of those
in the military with civilians to matters related to war. Currently, the world has witnessed
technological advancements in various sectors including the military. Indeed, battles between
different nations have become dominated by highly advanced weaponry especially when developed
nations are involved. It is these developments that have raised concerns over the use of highly
sophisticated and deadly weapons. Military ethics dictate how certain weapons should be used and
circumstances under which the military can use lethal force. Different nations... Show more content

Military ethics, therefore, serve to ensure that only weapons that are universally accepted are
used in war (Gale, 2016). One fundamental principle of just war customs refers to efforts to make
war as compassionate as probable even for the military personnel. The Geneva resolution
principles require that soldiers who lay down their arms during battles be eligible for benevolent
confinement by their imprisoners. The captors are needed to provide them with food, medical care,
and housing. Underlying these ethics is the commonly shared belief that fighter is an impermanent
status overriding an essential common humanity of rivals. Humanitarian concerns over soldiers in
the traditional military morals is demonstrated by attempts to do away with weapons considered to
be inhumane. Such efforts began when the medieval church banned the crossbow since it was
perceived to be too accurate and lethal over long distances. Current world leaders and military
leaders have categorized blinding lasers, hollow point bullets, and the asphyxiating gas as unethical
classes of technology that should not be employed in war. Besides dictating how the military as a
whole should conduct itself, military ethics govern how military personnel should behave. Rules of
conduct provide guidelines to those in the military on standards of behavioral ethics. Those found
culpable of violating the ethics are liable for prosecution under the uniform code of military justice.

In May of 1992, actress and playwright Anna Deavere Smith was commissioned to write a one
woman performance piece about the experiences, feelings, and tensions that contributed to and
were exacerbated by the 1992 Los Angeles riots.[1] For her work, Smith interviewed over 200
residents of Los Angeles during the time of the riot. Her script consists entirely of the actual words
of members of the Los Angelescommunity as they reflect on their experiences surrounding the
Los Angeles riots. As Smith described in the introduction to her play, Twilight, which she later
published as a book, I am first looking for the humanness inside the problems, or the crises. [2]
She strived to maintain a wide variety of perspectives, interviewing people from all walks of
life: white, black, Korean, Latino, poor, rich, police officers and gang members alike. Anna
Deavere Smith s play was widely received as a brilliant work of theater. One New York Times
reviewer, David Richards, praised her performance saying, She does people s souls. [3] Anna
Deavere Smith s play Twilight helps illuminate the thoughts and feelings of many diverse
perspectives behind the racial tensions, the perceived police brutality, and the lack of leadership for
greatly needed urban renewal. Combined with historical research, Twilight provides a meaningful
examination of the underlying causes of the Los Angeles riots. A longer historical view also reveals
the larger class tensions and the massive fluctuation of ethnic

False Interpretation In Revelation Chapter 12
The beginning of Revelation chapter 12 states that a great sign or wonder appeared in heaven.
This sign was the image of woman clothed with sun, the moon was under her feet and she had
twelve stars on her head. Over the many years since the Apostle John described this sign there
has been many false teachings about who this woman is. One of the erroneous teachings is that
the woman is the Church. Matthew Poole in his commentary on Revelation chapter 12 stated I
find all valuable interpreters agreeing, that this woman represented the church, well enough
compared to a woman. This interpretation neglects that further down in the chapter that the
woman is described as pregnant and at the point of giving birth. The church is described in 2
Corinthians chapter 11 verse 2 as the chaste virgin beginning presented to Christ not as one who
is giving birth to Christ. Another example of false interpretation is applying it to be symbolic of
all goddesses in multiple cultural contexts. Tina Pippin proposes such an interpretation in her
work Revelation/Apocalypse of John where she states She has been interpreted as many things:
the image of Israel, of Mary, of Ishtar, of Inanna, of Isis, and more recently of Our Lady of
Guadalupe (a merger of Mary with the Aztec goddess Coatlaxopeuh). The diversity of this
goddess images fits easily into a variety of culture contexts as a symbol of power One final

Foor this you simply have to take a look at the processed data table and graph. There is a clear
specific trend, visibly recognizable as well as mathematically (a trend line indicates it), that is,
as the molar concentration (solute) of salt increased in the solution where potatoes were placed,
the mass of potatoes decreased. Now, from the molar concentrations of salt solute that we tested
(0.0M, 0.2M, 0.4M, 0.6M, 0.8M, 1.0M) we cannot decipher with certainty and accuracy what is
the molar concentration of potato cells. However, we can estimate, and judging by the a
decrease in percent mass from 21.10% grams (0.0M) to 12.13% (0.2M) and followed by a
constant decrease in percent change in mass, it can be said that the salt concentration of a potato
cell is between 0.0M and 0.2M. This is because these molar concentrations are the one that show
the decrease in mass of the potato. When there s a decrease in mass, this practically means that
the water inside the cells is leaving because of diffusion to areas of lower concentration. 13. Is a

Data, Information, And Knowledge And How They Are...
Students Name: Marsil Hana
1.Describe the terms Data, Information, and Knowledge and how they are related to each other.
Data: is a collection of facts and studies, it can be thought of as a description of the world. For
example, when I say I have brown hair, hazel eyes and live in Chicago, those are all data.
Information: information is much more refined data, because it evolved to the point where it can
be useful and helpful to study a certain case or form of analysis.
Knowledge: it is basically what we know, maybe insights and facts that we ve learned in our life,
or some experience that we applied to data and information.
In my opinion, they are related to each other because everything started from facts and our
knowledge on specific topics and facts, and it all evolved to information and helpful data.
2.Describe 5 components of the database system and why they are important part of the system?
1 Data: it s very important because most companies and organizations generate, store and process
large amounts of data.
2 Hardware: it s also an important component because we store our data in the storage devices like
CD, DVD, floppy disk, and all the important parts like the processor and memory.

One argument is that everyone should be able to choose what they do in life. People argue that
they have the right to die. According to a CNN article, titled Physician Assisted SuicideFast Fact,
one particular individual decided that death by dignity was the best choice for her and her family.
Brittany Maynard was a 29 year old women who had a brain tumor, and after countless surgeries,
the cancer kept coming back. She decided that, There is no treatment that would save my life,
and the recommended treatments would have destroyed the time I had left (Maynard, 2016).
Her and her family changed locations to Oregon, since it was one of the only states that
supported physician assisted suicide. She was able to live her remaining weeks in peace and not
have to worry about radiation treatments to try and save her. She chose to be able to end her life
when she wanted to, and that was the most peaceful option for her. In opposition to this, there is
the argument that when a right to die law comes in to play, it turns into a duty. This is explained in
Paul McHugh s Wall Street Journal Article, Dr. Death Makes a Comeback; Legalizing Physician
Assisted Suicide is Receiving Fresh Support, but Doctors Should Think Twice Before Signing on,
which said, when the state sponsored health plan in 2008 denied recommended but costly cancer
treatments and offered instead to pay for less expensive suicide drugs (McHugh, 2015). This
statement says that in Oregon, a state sponsored health plan denied costly cancer treatments
because they would rather take the cheaper route and get suicide drugs. This turns the idea that the
option of physician assisted suicide is forced. The option to either take the pill or get treatment is

Marginalization And Immigrants In The Shawl
Have you ever felt alone? Did you feel separated from the rest of society? As human beings,
everyone has experienced this at some point in their lives. There are many factors to take into
account when trying to figuring out why people seem to feel so marginalized or alienated. A
group of people who feel they are marginalized is immigrants. The experience of entering a new
and unknown country is difficult and can make the experience a struggle for different reasons.
One reason is the lack of feeling welcomed by the residents of that country. The biggest decision
immigrants face, when entering a new country, is whether they will be able to hold on to their
own culture and heritage or if they will adaptor the new culture they are being exposed to. Books
tell a story and often time authors decided to incorporate their own experiences into their novels.
Two of these authors are Cynthia Ozick and Henry Roth, both of whom have touched upon the
Jewish American Experience. Ozick created characters who handled the events from The Shawl in
different ways throughout Rosa. Henry Roth incorporates his childhood experiences and inner
thoughts in Call It Sleep through the eyes of (name of main character), the main character.
Cynthia Ozick, author of (name of book), says she has always felt like an outsider, when it comes
to being Jewish because she did not experience the Holocaust first hand. Wi that she then decided
to take a risk and create two stories that revolve around that

Huangtudi Essay
Does the film Huang tudi (Yellow Earth) offer a critique of the Communist revolution? If so
where and how? Chen Kaige and Zhang Yimou s Yellow Earth is a meaningful and controversial
film that highlights the young and old, realist and idealist, as well as the ideal utopia and bounded
bureaucracies touching on the notion of fate. Set in early 1939 in China, Yellow Earth follows the
story of Gu Qing, a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) soldier sent out among the peasants in
Northern Shaanxi to collect folksongs, to which the Communists intend to rewrite new lyrics to
help inspire soldiers and peasant followers to fight the Japanese invasion and work towards the
revolution. Gu Qing comes across a village holding a wedding procession and is... Show more

San Cong Si De epitomises the notion of the traditional female virtues in China at the time,
which Cuiqiao is tied to. In the very male oriented and traditional values of the village, Gu Qing
presented himself as a catalyst for change in the eyes of Hanhan and more particularly, Cui qiao.
Both Hanhan and Cuiqiao are attracted to the promises of the CR for a better life; especially
intriguing to Cuiqiao are the promises of better equality for women that women under the CR
can learn to read, write, and even fight. This is reflected in the scene when Cuiqiao notices Gu
Qing s ability to sew his own clothes. She tells him she is impressed by his ability, to which he
replies that women in the South (Communist camp) cut their hair, and become soldiers to fight
against the Japanese, just like men. Hanhan s character in the film appears to be subtly comical,
as well as rather silent and expressionless throughout the majority of the film. As Hanhan got
more acquainted with Gu Qing, he also got more verbal. This reflects Hanhan s possible
oppression of being unable to voice his own opinions, as well as suggesting his character being
overwhelmed by his living condition and social boundaries. He appears to be a caring brother to
Cuiqiao, but is helpless in verbally aiding his sister s pre prescribed life of forced marriage and
duties as a female. Hanhan s character becomes closer to Gu Qing, allowing him to open up We

Explain How Success Consists Of Going Failure To Failures...
Winston Churchill once said that Success consists of going failure to failures without loss of
enthusiasm . Winston s statement can be viewed as controversial because some people believe no
matter how hard ones tries one may fail. This point has merit because no matter how hard one tries
to defy gravity it will constantly be there. Except for these extreme cases successhas been seen
through history as defeating what one had failed to do before. Being able to succeed is caused by
not losing enthusiasm between failures because without an enthusiasm to keep trying one will not
want to succeed, failure can create the idea that allows one to succeed, and without failure people
would not have the passion succeed no matter what. Enthusiasm between failures allows people to
succeed because the character they gain by not quitting is what makes one want to succeed after
failure. It is true that failing something that one has worked at for any period of timeis hard to go
through. The character a person gain from failing however is that spark of persistence and
enthusiasm to continue trying. Even if one fails again that character will become even stronger and
eventually will lead that person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This point is seen anywhere in the world because of the inventions people have made. No invention
has ever worked perfectly after the first try. It was the enthusiasm in the inventors to see these
objects work perfectly that allowed them to eventually succeed, Some may say that certain
inventions are just modified older inventions, but the need for these new inventions was prompted
by someone having the enthusiasm to fix a failure in a prior invention. These ideas spurred by
realizing the source of a failure may go noticed, but without someone having the enthusiasm to see
the idea work there would never be

A Scientist, By Aldous Huxley
When thinking of a scientist, the visual that often comes to mind would be that of a curious,
patient individual slaving away in a sterile environment. Scientists are often viewed by society as
quite droll, but in reality, they must be incredibly creative and intuitive in order to make scientific
discoveries. Children around the world often dream of making remarkable scientific discoveries,
although for some, unfortunate circumstances prevent them from working in scientific laboratories.
Whether it be due to a major illness or a physical defect, many inspired adolescents are kept from
their true passion, due to the demands of the field. These individuals are often forced into much
less favorable professions, but still retain the analytical mind of a prospective scientist. However,
those lucky few who are allowed to express their scientific interests through their alternate
occupations, typically novelists, often portray idealistic societies which have been driven forward
by scientific advances. One such disgruntled novelist, Aldous Huxley, allows his creativity to
flourish through his work, spouting a myriad of technological advancements which have allowed
society to become utopian. In Brave New World, author Aldous Huxley presents the reader with a
fanciful tale of scientific conquest and social upheaval, which ultimately degrades his reputation as
a credible scientist. Aldous Huxley, unlike many of his peers, was born into a highly prominent
family of intellectuals. His

History Of Mckay Dee Hospital Essay
History of McKay Dee Hospital
The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital was founded in 1910 by Annie Taylor Dee and her eight
children as a tribute to their husband and father, who had passed away in an accident. The hospital
was ready for occupancy on December 29, 1910. Unfortunately, by 1914 the Dee family could no
longer provide the funding needed to operate the hospital. Financial appeals to keep the hospital
open were made to the Weber County Commissioners and medical staff, but to no avail. The
hospital was scheduled to close on November 15, 1914. In an effort to save the hospital, Annie
Taylor decided to write a letter to Elder David O. McKay, a member of the quorum of twelve
apostles of the LDS Church, to petition for his help. Elder McKay held a meeting with members
of the first presidency and presiding bishopric where it was determined that closing the hospital
would be a calamity. A plan was formulated to save the institution by bringing the hospital into the
LDS Church Hospital System (intermountainhealthcare.org). Hospital growth and accomplishments
followed during the next thirty years. As time passed, the growth of the hospital required a new
facility be constructed. It was suggested that the hospital be called McKay Dee Hospital to honor
David O. McKay. It became an institution of healing on July 12, 1969. On November 10, 1971
The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital or The Dee opened a new facility adjacent to the McKay.

Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Australia and Climate Change
Market based policies are a proven way to limit carbon pollution and channel capital and innovation
into clean energy, helping to avert the catastrophic consequences of climate change
EDF vice president for international climate, Nathaniel Keohan
Introduction
In a contemporary political setting, it is now broadly recognized that over the 20th century, the
atmospheric concentrations of key greenhouse gases, particularly Carbon Dioxide have been
amplified by human activity. Australia can be held accountable for around 1.5% of global
greenhouse gas emissions. However, Australia is one of the largest carbon polluters per capita,
sitting around 24.4 tonnes per person.
Much policy discussion about climate change suggests that surplus carbon emissions are the result
of failure of the market. Since the ongoing costs of environmental degradation and climate change
are not internalized in pricing fossil fuel; a commonsense (and widely flavored by policy makers in
the international community) economic solution is to internalize the cost of carbon emissions. Cap
and trade emissions trading schemes have proven largely popular in the global policy making
community, as they enable market flexibility and allow for international targets to be met.
The problem with incentive based economic mechanisms is that it is optional by nature. Relevant
parties opt in to the free market mechanism, rather than being required to participate in a policy
based mechanism. The latter however,

The Wright Brothers And Their Impact On The Aviation Industry
The Wright brothers had discovered something new, flying. From what flying is today to what is
was in 1903 if they would not of discovered what they had who knows if we would have planes
today. In 1903 steam engines were about the only way around. Cars were not quite around yet so
the thought of flying was hardly a question. As two of the most famous names in the aviation
industry the Wright brothers changed the way we think of traveling and getting around not just our
country, but the world. Wilbur Wright was born on April 16, 1867, near Millville, Indiana, the
middle child in a family of five children. His father, Milton Wright, was a bishop in the Church of
the United Brethren in Christ. His mother was Susan Catherine Koerner Wright.

Disappointing Tragedy Of Suicide Squad Disappointing Tragedy in Suicide Squad Suicide Squad (2016) is a comic book based movie that was announced late 2014 with the expectation of being a thrilling film. David Ayer, the director of Suicide Squad, has many years of experience working on action based movies. Some familiar movies that he directed are: The Fast and the Furious (2001), S.W.A.T (2003), and Fury (2014). Some of these films received double the ratings Suicide Squad obtained. In spite of Ayer s professional history, he failed to make an appealing movie. The Unorganized editing, negligent lovers story, and incorrect character portrayal, are just some reasons Suicide Squad received low ratings from many trustworthy movie critics. • 6. Frederick Douglass And Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels Both authors Frederick Douglass and Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels focus on the topic of freedom. Both authors argue that they are being oppressed. However, this is where the similarities end. Engels and Marx believed that capitalism was a social system used by the proletariats to oppress the bourgeoisie, and that the only way to be free was to fight back against the system. On the other hand, Frederick Douglass focuses more on his individual story and his struggle for freedom, while he tries to appeal to his audience from an ethical point of view. Frederick Douglass biography revolves around the idea of freedom. After seeing a traumatizing incident as a child, Douglass slowly begins to realize that he is not a free human being, but is a slave owned by other people. He is surrounded by a society that devalues him and people like him, and systematically worked to keep them ignorant and submissive. In this society, it is made clear that no slave is special, and everyone is replaceable. Rather than accept this, Douglass struggles to maintain what little autonomy he was allowed to have. When his one of his masters, Thomas Auld, bans his mistress, Sophia, from teaching Douglass how to read, Douglass learned from the young boys on the street. His biography shows him transforming from an ignorant child into his older, more learned self. Douglass sees the idea of slaves in a country that is as passionate as about its revolution as America hypocritical; in fact, this is the basis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Great Debaters Discussion Questions In the film The Great Debaters, the true story of a college debate team in Texas highlights the importance of public speaking. In numerous instances, if a topic makes a large group uncomfortable this topic goes untouched. However, in this film, the debate team bravely brings on those topics that are close to their hearts, even though society does not want to talk about these issues. The most prominent example of uneasy topics is when James Farmer Jr., in the middle of a Harvard debate, with a predominantly white audience, goes to talk about the lynching of people of color. While this was a topic purposely not brought up due to making people uncomfortable, by Farmer doing this it started the discussion. • 9. Tale Of The Shoe Internal Conflict The Tale of the Shoe : The Tale of a Struggle Within The passage from Emma Donoghue s, The Tale of the Shoe, advances the idea that the struggle between good and evil does not have to be presented through physical entities that it can be developed through an internal conflict, which is shown through the use of agency and sensory experience. In the well known Cinderella story the antagonists are the evil stepmother and her two daughters, an external force that attempts to cause suffering for and to control Cinderella. Donoghue s version of the story argues that this perception of evil is not the only one that exists that evil can come from an inner source. This is expressed via the manipulation of agency. Although the story is told in third person limited, the agency of other forces seeps into the narrative. The antagonists take the form of voices. The voices become a character of their own they have the ability to ask questions and scold the narrator, They asked why I was still alive (Donoghue 2). Poe uses repetition to uncover character instability, illustrate self torture, and the loss of self that is fearfully avoided and yet eagerly sought for. • 14. Computer Field And Technical Education Programs The lack of qualified employees in computer and technology fields is a perplexing issue for the United States as it strives to stay competitive in a global economy. According to an article by the Bureau of National Affairs, two of the top three toughest jobs to fill are technology related (Bureau of National Affairs, 2012, p. 6). Although there are many theories as to why more students are not choosing to major in some type of computer field, resolutions to this problem are slow in developing. Could a solution be emerging from career and technical educationprograms? In 2012 Microsoft Corporation sponsored a study that estimated the U.S. creates 120,000 new computer science jobs each year. Colleges and universities, however, are only graduating 49,000 students per year with degrees to fill those positions. This gap has companies scrambling to find qualified personnel and many are turning to foreign workers using the H1 B Visa program (Beach, 2013, p. 3). With 7.9 million Americans unemployed, this is not a popular choice and creates a potential image problem for companies (United States Department of Labor, 2015). Once considered a dumping ground for students who could not handle a typical high school curriculum, career and technical education has progressed over the last 30 years. Now, students from a variety of academic levels enroll in CTE programs (Hoachlander, 2008, p. 25). Additionally, pathways once considered specific to a certain gender are being ... Crime, Deviance, Social Order And Social Control Different Definitions of: Crime, Deviance, Social order and Social control Crime is defined by the Oxford dictionary as an action or omission which constitutes an offence and is punishable by law. (Dictionary, 2015) Whereas deviance is failing to conform to the expectations held by society without necessarily breaking any laws. Criminal behaviour differs to deviant behaviour as a person can be deviant without committing a crime and vice versa, a person can be criminal without being deviant. For example, speeding is a criminal offense but is not considered abnormal or deviant behaviour as it is committed by the majority of people in society at some point. Likewise, if a man dresses as a woman in public they are considered to be deviating from society but are not breaking any laws and therefore are not criminal. This means that behaviour can be legal, without necessarily being acceptable in society. However, what is considered acceptable in society can change overtime as well as the removal and creation of certain laws. For example, over 50 years ago, homosexuality would have been stigmatised as well as illegal whereas nowadays it is legal and perfectly accepted by the majority in society although some homophobia does still exists. Social order is the totality of structured human interrelationships in a society or a part of it. It is based on the assumpiion that nature represents the wholeness of reality. Nature, itself, is a total system that contains and explains all existence including human beings and human nature. According to naturalists the material and the physical world is govered by certain laws, and man, who is the creator of the material world, must submit to it. It denies the existence of anything beyond nature, behind nature and other than nature such as supernaturalism. In terms of epistemology or theory of knowledge, naturalists highlight the value of scientific knowledge. Francis Bacon emphasizes the inductive method for acquiring the scientific knowledge through specific observation, accumulation and generalisation. He also lays emphasis on the empirical and experimental knowledge. Naturalists also lay stress on sensory training as senses are the gateways to learning. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, teachers may give a negative label to a working class pupil and see them as badly behaved as a result, the pupil would accept that label and live up to it. Therefore, pupils given negative labels may see themselves as failures and give up trying consequently, fulfilling the original prophecy. Some sociologists would argue that streaming can affect a pupil s educational achievement. Streaming refers to separating children into different ability groups or classes called streams . Each group is then taught separately, according to their ability for all subjects. In Becker s study, teachers did not see working class children as ideal pupils and were seen as lacking ability therefore, they were placed in a lower stream. This leads to self fulfilling prophecy as pupils except their teachers low expectations by under achieving. For example, Douglas found that children placed in a lower stream at the age of 8 suffered a decline in their IQ score by the age of 11. In addition, sociologists would argue that pupil subcultures affect the pupils educational achievement. They have had personnel acquire information systems that did not meet the requirements of MSCC. The cost of these nonfunctioning systems has been in excess of $277,000.00 dollars. Kovecki was not as skilled as he could have been, he was the only person within the MSCC who knew the Unitrak system. On top of that, he was the only person who could keep it running and bringing in money to MSCC. Management should have taken more interest in Kovecki s desire to run the computer operations. If they had, MSCC management would never have hired Gramen. This probably would have limited the severity of this situation and may have avoided it entirely. The hiring Dick Gramen was a huge mistake. Gramen did not have the skills required to be in this position. He came from a different computing environment (Macintosh), also he had no experience on the systems in use at the MSCC. He never had had any prior contact with Unitrak or with any trade associations. MSCC had the mindset of we don t look outside our cave. This was clearly eveidenced when Unitrak s developers found themselves in financial trouble. MSCC should have begun looking at their options because they were already having problems with UNITRAK. Management should never wait until problems arise to have a contingency plan in place. Unitrak was a bad choice for information system, but not planning ahead is even worse perhaps inexcuseable. Similarly, facing a traumatic event such as EOL adds uncertainty about the future and awareness of human s temporality. A study of lived experience of son and daughter caregivers seemed potentially helpful to understand EOL existential experience of the caregiver role and potential development of information that strengthens caregiver s preparedness. Bachner et al. (2011) and Wong and Tomer (2011) discussed the value of death acceptance as a means of coming to terms with death constructively, which would promote preparation for good life and good death. Roth et al. (2013) suggested a benefit of better understanding of caregiver needs would be to increase positive impacts of caregiving. Totman et al. (2015) predicted that EOL care impacts caregivers because they are existential beings and the impending death of their parent disrupts established routines and can impact goals, values, beliefs, and roles. Wong and Tomer (2011) suggested research designed to explore death acceptance would add understanding to the mechanisms and pathways to positive outcomes. Therefore, using an existential framework to analyze adult child caregivers existential experience moves beyond a simple mechanistic depletion model because stress may relate to conflicts between freedom, responsibility, beliefs, religiosity, isolation, loss, and continued existence (survival). There are so many options; often times people are lost as to where to go. In our society, many of the decisions we make are made with money in mind. People will do almost anything for money, even if that means being unhappy. This class, and my SI education in general has framed for me a new way of living. That is, living happily. He wants his job to have more meaning. In other words, this job seeker is called to the challenge of discernment in determining a vocation. Spohn breaks down the different aspects of how Ignatian spiritually helps one seek the right vocation for them. The first important step is prayerful reflection. This helps one understand personal desires, special talents and the needs of the world and helps set a foundation for seeking and choosing a path. Many of the character s in Austen s Mansfield Park are overly interested in the idea of improving themselves, and through this Austen gives the reader an insight into each characters wealth and estate. By doing this Austen is allowing the reader an understanding of her characters social position and therefore an assumption into their ideas. The patriarchal structure of society allocates a distinct relationship between the inequality prevalent between male and females, placing women in a secondary and submissive position within society allows men to remain dominant and in control of the very society women exist in. an example of this in Austen s Mansfield park can be seen in the character of Sir Thomas as the head of the family he is responsible for guiding and protecting his family, this role which he plays is portrayed within the novel as a necessity. His position within the family allows him to form the female members in a way in which he believes to be proper, virtuous and morally correct. By placing this character in her novel Austen is alluding to Wollstonecraft s idea of women being reared t suit the needs and attitudes of the society around them, in order for them to gain a comfortable place in society through the prospect of marriage. Military ethics, therefore, serve to ensure that only weapons that are universally accepted are used in war (Gale, 2016). One fundamental principle of just war customs refers to efforts to make war as compassionate as probable even for the military personnel. The Geneva resolution principles require that soldiers who lay down their arms during battles be eligible for benevolent confinement by their imprisoners. The captors are needed to provide them with food, medical care, and housing. Underlying these ethics is the commonly shared belief that fighter is an impermanent status overriding an essential common humanity of rivals. Humanitarian concerns over soldiers in the traditional military morals is demonstrated by attempts to do away with weapons considered to be inhumane. Such efforts began when the medieval church banned the crossbow since it was perceived to be too accurate and lethal over long distances. Current world leaders and military leaders have categorized blinding lasers, hollow point bullets, and the asphyxiating gas as unethical classes of technology that should not be employed in war. This sign was the image of woman clothed with sun, the moon was under her feet and she had twelve stars on her head. Over the many years since the Apostle John described this sign there has been many false teachings about who this woman is. One of the erroneous teachings is that the woman is the Church. Matthew Poole in his commentary on Revelation chapter 12 stated I find all valuable interpreters agreeing, that this woman represented the church, well enough compared to a woman. This interpretation neglects that further down in the chapter that the woman is described as pregnant and at the point of giving birth. The church is described in 2 Corinthians chapter 11 verse 2 as the chaste virgin beginning presented to Christ not as one who is giving birth to Christ. Another example of false interpretation is applying it to be symbolic of all goddesses in multiple cultural contexts. Tina Pippin proposes such an interpretation in her work Revelation/Apocalypse of John where she states She has been interpreted as many things: the image of Israel, of Mary, of Ishtar, of Inanna, of Isis, and more recently of Our Lady of Guadalupe (a merger of Mary with the Aztec goddess Coatlaxopeuh). Now, from the molar concentrations of salt solute that we tested (0.0M, 0.2M, 0.4M, 0.6M, 0.8M, 1.0M) we cannot decipher with certainty and accuracy what is the molar concentration of potato cells. However, we can estimate, and judging by the a decrease in percent mass from 21.10% grams (0.0M) to 12.13% (0.2M) and followed by a constant decrease in percent change in mass, it can be said that the salt concentration of a potato cell is between 0.0M and 0.2M. As human beings, everyone has experienced this at some point in their lives. There are many factors to take into account when trying to figuring out why people seem to feel so marginalized or alienated. A group of people who feel they are marginalized is immigrants. The experience of entering a new and unknown country is difficult and can make the experience a struggle for different reasons. One reason is the lack of feeling welcomed by the residents of that country. The biggest decision immigrants face, when entering a new country, is whether they will be able to hold on to their own culture and heritage or if they will adaptor the new culture they are being exposed to. Books tell a story and often time authors decided to incorporate their own experiences into their novels. Two of these authors are Cynthia Ozick and Henry Roth, both of whom have touched upon the Jewish American Experience. Ozick created characters who handled the events from The Shawl in different ways throughout Rosa. • 45. Huangtudi Essay Does the film Huang tudi (Yellow Earth) offer a critique of the Communist revolution? If so where and how? Chen Kaige and Zhang Yimou s Yellow Earth is a meaningful and controversial film that highlights the young and old, realist and idealist, as well as the ideal utopia and bounded bureaucracies touching on the notion of fate. Set in early 1939 in China, Yellow Earth follows the story of Gu Qing, a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) soldier sent out among the peasants in Northern Shaanxi to collect folksongs, to which the Communists intend to rewrite new lyrics to help inspire soldiers and peasant followers to fight the Japanese invasion and work towards the revolution. Gu Qing comes across a village holding a wedding procession and is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... San Cong Si De epitomises the notion of the traditional female virtues in China at the time, which Cuiqiao is tied to. In the very male oriented and traditional values of the village, Gu Qing presented himself as a catalyst for change in the eyes of Hanhan and more particularly, Cui qiao. Both Hanhan and Cuiqiao are attracted to the promises of the CR for a better life; especially intriguing to Cuiqiao are the promises of better equality for women that women under the CR can learn to read, write, and even fight. This is reflected in the scene when Cuiqiao notices Gu Qing s ability to sew his own clothes. She tells him she is impressed by his ability, to which he replies that women in the South (Communist camp) cut their hair, and become soldiers to fight against the Japanese, just like men. Hanhan s character in the film appears to be subtly comical, as well as rather silent and expressionless throughout the majority of the film. As Hanhan got more acquainted with Gu Qing, he also got more verbal. This reflects Hanhan s possible oppression of being unable to voice his own opinions, as well as suggesting his character being overwhelmed by his living condition and social boundaries. He appears to be a caring brother to Cuiqiao, but is helpless in verbally aiding his sister s pre prescribed life of forced marriage and duties as a female. Hanhan s character becomes closer to Gu Qing, allowing him to open up We see scenes of Hanhan and Gu Qing being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Explain How Success Consists Of Going Failure To Failures... Winston Churchill once said that Success consists of going failure to failures without loss of enthusiasm . Winston s statement can be viewed as controversial because some people believe no matter how hard ones tries one may fail. This point has merit because no matter how hard one tries to defy gravity it will constantly be there. Except for these extreme cases successhas been seen through history as defeating what one had failed to do before. Being able to succeed is caused by not losing enthusiasm between failures because without an enthusiasm to keep trying one will not want to succeed, failure can create the idea that allows one to succeed, and without failure people would not have the passion succeed no matter what. Enthusiasm between failures allows people to succeed because the character they gain by not quitting is what makes one want to succeed after failure. It is true that failing something that one has worked at for any period of timeis hard to go through. The character a person gain from failing however is that spark of persistence and enthusiasm to continue trying. Even if one fails again that character will become even stronger and eventually will lead that person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This point is seen anywhere in the world because of the inventions people have made. No invention has ever worked perfectly after the first try. It was the enthusiasm in the inventors to see these objects work perfectly that allowed them to eventually succeed, Some may say that certain inventions are just modified older inventions, but the need for these new inventions was prompted by someone having the enthusiasm to fix a failure in a prior invention. These ideas spurred by realizing the source of a failure may go noticed, but without someone having the enthusiasm to see the idea work there would never be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. A Scientist, By Aldous Huxley When thinking of a scientist, the visual that often comes to mind would be that of a curious, patient individual slaving away in a sterile environment. Scientists are often viewed by society as quite droll, but in reality, they must be incredibly creative and intuitive in order to make scientific discoveries. Children around the world often dream of making remarkable scientific discoveries, although for some, unfortunate circumstances prevent them from working in scientific laboratories. Whether it be due to a major illness or a physical defect, many inspired adolescents are kept from their true passion, due to the demands of the field. These individuals are often forced into much less favorable professions, but still retain the analytical mind of a prospective scientist. However, those lucky few who are allowed to express their scientific interests through their alternate occupations, typically novelists, often portray idealistic societies which have been driven forward by scientific advances. One such disgruntled novelist, Aldous Huxley, allows his creativity to flourish through his work, spouting a myriad of technological advancements which have allowed society to become utopian. In Brave New World, author Aldous Huxley presents the reader with a fanciful tale of scientific conquest and social upheaval, which ultimately degrades his reputation as a credible scientist. Aldous Huxley, unlike many of his peers, was born into a highly prominent family of intellectuals. His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. History Of Mckay Dee Hospital Essay History of McKay Dee Hospital The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital was founded in 1910 by Annie Taylor Dee and her eight children as a tribute to their husband and father, who had passed away in an accident. The hospital was ready for occupancy on December 29, 1910. Unfortunately, by 1914 the Dee family could no longer provide the funding needed to operate the hospital. Financial appeals to keep the hospital open were made to the Weber County Commissioners and medical staff, but to no avail. The hospital was scheduled to close on November 15, 1914. In an effort to save the hospital, Annie Taylor decided to write a letter to Elder David O. McKay, a member of the quorum of twelve apostles of the LDS Church, to petition for his help. Elder McKay held a meeting with members of the first presidency and presiding bishopric where it was determined that closing the hospital would be a calamity. A plan was formulated to save the institution by bringing the hospital into the LDS Church Hospital System (intermountainhealthcare.org). Hospital growth and accomplishments followed during the next thirty years. As time passed, the growth of the hospital required a new facility be constructed. It was suggested that the hospital be called McKay Dee Hospital to honor David O. McKay. It became an institution of healing on July 12, 1969. On November 10, 1971 The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital or The Dee opened a new facility adjacent to the McKay. These structures served the community ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Australia and Climate Change Market based policies are a proven way to limit carbon pollution and channel capital and innovation into clean energy, helping to avert the catastrophic consequences of climate change EDF vice president for international climate, Nathaniel Keohan Introduction In a contemporary political setting, it is now broadly recognized that over the 20th century, the atmospheric concentrations of key greenhouse gases, particularly Carbon Dioxide have been amplified by human activity. Australia can be held accountable for around 1.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. However, Australia is one of the largest carbon polluters per capita, sitting around 24.4 tonnes per person. Much policy discussion about climate change suggests that surplus carbon emissions are the result of failure of the market. Since the ongoing costs of environmental degradation and climate change are not internalized in pricing fossil fuel; a commonsense (and widely flavored by policy makers in the international community) economic solution is to internalize the cost of carbon emissions. Cap and trade emissions trading schemes have proven largely popular in the global policy making community, as they enable market flexibility and allow for international targets to be met. The problem with incentive based economic mechanisms is that it is optional by nature. Relevant parties opt in to the free market mechanism, rather than being required to participate in a policy based mechanism. The latter however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
