When I was younger, I grew up with four grandparents who I could spend time with. As I started
to grow older, my grandparents started to deteriorate. My grandmother developed Alzheimer s,
and more specifically dementia. I remember one day at my beach house when I was talking to

Have you ever felt alone? Did you feel separated from the rest of society? As human beings,
everyone has experienced this at some point in their lives. There are many factors to take into
account when trying to figuring out why people seem to feel so marginalized or alienated. A
group of people who feel they are marginalized is immigrants. The experience of entering a new
and unknown country is difficult and can make the experience a struggle for different reasons.

The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital was founded in 1910 by Annie Taylor Dee and her eight
children as a tribute to their husband and father, who had passed away in an accident. The hospital
was ready for occupancy on December 29, 1910. Unfortunately, by 1914 the Dee family could no
longer provide the funding needed to operate the hospital. Financial appeals to keep the hospital
open were made to the Weber County Commissioners and medical staff, but to no avail. The

Taylor decided to write a letter to Elder David O. McKay, a member of the quorum of twelve
