Zombie
The song Zombie written by Dolores O Riordan effectively describes the post colonial
theory, in its subsections; issues on power dynamics, economic issues, and political
issues to portray that people s conscience cannot be silenced. O Riordan composed
Zombie after the bomb blast in Cheshire Ireland during 1993, which killed two innocent
children. The bomb was caused by the Irish Republican Army, most commonly known as
the IRA which is a militant group that formed in 1916. O Riordan recorded the song in
an effort to stop the war between the IRA and British. Since the 1600s the British have
ruled Ireland, and they have used Ireland for their own economic needs. British used
the Irish slave trade to torture the Irish and generate cheap labour. The harsh standards
of the British lead to the formation of the IRA whom fought out for independence. Due
to the selfish economic needs of the British the IRA have had to fight for their
independence. This signifies that even though the British have ruled the Irish for
hundreds of years, the conscience of the Irish have not been silenced. This is because
the Irish have been conscience of the British ruling, however due to the power that the
British withhold; the Irish people could not do anything. In 1916 there was hope for the
Irish because the IRA would gain independence for the Irish by fighting against the
British. However the war went on for too long with no change. O Riordan sings, Same

The Stateless Nation Of O-Go-Knee
Hello everybody. This presentation is on the stateless nation of Ogoni (O go knee).
Some background information on them. They are known as the Ogoni people. Most are
christian and/or believe in their ancient traditions. They live in Ogoniland, Nigeria. The
nation is about 404 square miles. They speak the Ogoni language and their population is
about 2 million people. The group that is helping them most to become a state is MOSOP.
Ogoniland is located in River State on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea, east of Port
Harcourt. Ogoniland is divided into the 6 kingdoms of Babbe (Bab), Gokhana (Gawk
na), Ken Khana (Ken Kana), Nyo Khana (Knee o Kana), Eleme (El a may), and Tai
(Tie). As shown on the map Ken Kahna and Nyo Khana are usually referred... Show

In February of 1995, after eight months of being detained without official charges, Ken
Saro Wiwa and the other Ogoni leaders were brought before a special tribunal,
established by the military government. Independent international observers expressed
their deep doubts about the fairness of the trial in protest of the Tribunal s failure to
meet even Nigeria s own standards of fairness. On October 31, 1995, Ken Saro Wiwa
and eight other Ogoni were sentenced to death by the Special Tribunal. In March
1996, non partisan elections were held in Nigeria to fill all local government seats with
elected civilian Chairs and Councilors. It was widely reported that all persons
associated with MOSOP were prevented from participation, and those who presented
themselves were either beaten or detained and later disqualified. By June, 1998, the
maximum dictator, General Sani Abacha under whose watch thousands of Ogoni people
perished eventually died in mysterious circumstances. This ushered in a new attempt at
democratic engagement and electoral processes. The electoral process ushered in Chief

Web Crawler Analysis Paper
(King Lup Liu, 2001) Given countless motors on the Internet, it is troublesome for a
man to figure out which web search tools could serve his/her data needs. A typical
arrangement is to build a metasearch motor on top of the web indexes. After accepting
a client question, the metasearch motor sends it to those fundamental web indexes
which are liable to give back the craved archives for the inquiry. The determination
calculation utilized by a metasearch motor to figure out if a web index ought to be sent
the inquiry ordinarily settles on the choice in light of the web search tool agent, which
contains trademark data about the database of a web search tool. Be that as it may, a
hidden web index may not will to give the required data to the metasearch motor. This
paper demonstrates that the required data can be evaluated from an uncooperative web
crawlerwith great exactness. Two bits of data which license precise web crawler

of every term. In this paper, we display systems for the estimation of these two bits of

Rules 4 Creating Power Point Presentation
10 Rules for Creating Successful Power Point Presentations
I ve blogged many times on how NOT to use Power Point. Most people use it
incorrectly, and it becomes a barrier between speaker and audience. For example, they
create word slides, really speaker notes, with many bullets of text, expecting what? the
audience to read along with them? Or, they go nuts with the animation, swoops, and
flying headlines that make audiences dizzy to little purpose. Or they use cheap looking
clip art that creates a tacky image of speaker and organization in the mind of the audience.
But what about the right way to use Power Point? What does that look like? Is there any
right way? Following are 10 rules for using Power Point successfully.

New York City in Summer
Standing only at five feet high in New York City, the beautiful New York City in the
summer time rises with an amazing sunrise. The rays of the sun mix with three
different shades of bright and dark colors like red, orange, and yellow. The dark blue sky
is still filled with lingering clouds that flee from the sun as it makes its assent. The
skyline of New York Citycasts a gorgeous reflection onto the East River. New York is
one of the best known cities in United States with a total area is 468.9 square miles.
About one third of New York City is water and the rest of it is land. The city is
comprised of five boroughs and they are Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and

The whole place just gives the best feeling that I have never felt before. It was like a
spa place that it is so quiet, yet it feels so magical with candles all over the place and it
is sort of dark were you can feel so relaxed once you lay down in this very comfy bed
that is covered in white silk covers with fluffy pillows that almost feels like
marshmallows. My apartment is filled marvelous paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and
with his famous paintings of Starry Night and Sunflowers and some motivated quotes
on the wall. Having these paintings will sure describe my living experience in New
York. The painting Starry Night shows the meaning of the alluring skyline at night in
the city where it has the bright lights from each of the windows of the buildings and
how the sky is yet very dark but still see the shade of blue in the sky. Also in the
painting it shows a little wind which in New York sort of has at night time a little
breeze that can give you slight goose bumps in your arms. The other painting by
Vincent Van Gogh Sunflowers shows a meaning for me in the summertime in New
York where all the flowers bloom up and the bright sun rises up into the city. That
feeling when you get up from bed, in the summertime, with a big smile on your face and
having to see the people around you with their faces so uplifting. In the center of my
living room, I would have this crystal chandelier that is very appealing with white
crystals and small diamonds around
Road Cormac Mccarthy The Road Analysis
The book The Road Cormac McCarthy creates a darkened mood when he puts this son
and father into a destroyed world. McCarthy created this concept of a world to
intensify the meaning of the piece all together. This darkness in the world creates to
fear and the isolation for characters to realize that this is how life is from now on. The
son in this novel comes to the realization of the world due to certain events within the
novel that manipulation the view the son has on the world. An important flaw the son
has is that he does not remember the world as a peaceful place the son only remembers
the world destroyed. This type of naivetes gives the boy a minimal outlook on the past
and see the difference of the present. The father knows the difference which gives the
father the realization before The Roadbegins. The son in portions of The Road is
starving, this desolate place called the world does not give any chance of hope or
second ones. The importance of this geographical state in the book makes the father
and son rely on one another because they know the very importance of staying alive,
and the only way they can do that is to fight for one another. The Road opens with a
setting of desolation, When he woke in the woods in the dark and the cold of the night
he d reach out to touch the child sleeping beside him , which creates a concern within
the readers that are realizing the magnitude of this horrible place. (McCarthy 3) The son
in the first page of the book is mentioned
What Is Meade s Failure
After three days of battle that saw Lee s army enjoy early success, but Meade s army
still holding its ground, the ill advised assault by 12,500 Confederate troops on
Cemetery Ridge (known as Pickett s Charge) was the straw that broke the rebels back.
The Union line held while pushing the Confederates back, and the Confederates
suffered severe losses. The loss at Gettysburg represented more than a simple failure. It
represented the first major defeat of Lee on northern soil. While the losses were fairly
even, 23,055 for the north and 23,231 for the south, the losses on the Confederate side
were devastating to the Northern Army of Virginia at a time when the south could not
replace its dead soldiers effectively. What Lee hoped to do was cross
Mario Milkuliencer s Trouble With Trust
Trust can be a controversial topic for many, however the natural positive vibe that humans
receive from the word tends to override any reservations of it. According to the online
Merriam Webster Dictionary, trust requires assured reliance on the character, ability,
strength, or truth of someone or something. In today s society trustis slowly starting to
disintegrate with the lack of face to face communication within the age of electronic
communication. Because of this we have the inability to trust others as it starts to
develop into trust issues, especially among the younger generation from the lack of
physical connection among individuals. The first foundation that comes with developing
trust is reliability. Possessing reliability in someone or something is important to begin a
relationship. According, to Mario Milkuliencer in the online article Trouble With Trust
by Psychology Today there are three basic foundations. The first one is to have the
assumption that if you need a help you can turn to someone you trust. The second
foundation is to have an assumption that your closest companion will always be there for
you. The third and final foundation explains recognition that... Show more content on

Having forgiveness in someone can show that your strength can outshine the darkest
corners of the earth. Many people will boast about their physical strength but the true
strength comes from within. So when you trust someone you don t trust their toned
muscles and toned bodies on the outside, the most important muscle you trust that you
cannot perceive with your own eyes but with your own heart. With some individuals,
having the strength to fight and gain their trust in others don t give it out so easily, while
in the case of others they are more open and more likely to trust
Examples Of Inequities In Aboriginal Health
As health professionals, we must look beyond individual attributes of Indigenous
Australians to gain a greater understanding and a possible explanation of why there are
such high rates of ill health issues such as alcoholism, depression, abuse, shorter life
expectancy and higher prevalence of diseases including diabetes, heart disease and
obesity in our indigenous population. Looking at just the individual aspects and the
biomedical health model, we don t get the context of Aboriginal health. This is why we
need to explore in further detail what events could have created such inequities in
Aboriginal health. Other details that we should consider are the historical and cultural
factors such as, terra nullius , dispossession and social... Show more content on

It was this day that was the start of a long dark history of cruelty and ill treatment
towards the traditional custodians of Australia.
Under the terra nullius law, the Aboriginals lost their land, which is now known as
dispossession. To justify this dispossession, the English followed the set of beliefs that
are now identified as social Darwinism. Social Darwinism, with its powerful racially
based doctrines, ranked Indigenous Australians as inferior to Europeans and provided a
rationale for dispossession by drawing on the laws of natural selection to justify the
inevitable extinction of Indigenous Australians in the face of the arrival of the superior
white race (Psychology and Indigenous Australians, Foundations of Cultural
Competence, 2009, pp. 75). By having their land taken away from them, the
Aboriginals lost part of their spiritual connection and their sense of belonging and
identity because Aboriginal culture is based heavily on the spirits of the land. These
connections that bonded the Aboriginals to the land were never understood by the
English settlers, who only saw the land as possible income (Psychology and Indigenous
Australians, Foundations of Cultural Competence, 2009.). They also lost a lot of their
sacred areas, spiritual areas and meeting places because they were on the land that the
white people had divided and fenced of the land that these areas were on and if an
Aboriginal was trying to
The Case For Investment Into Art And The Development Of...
2.1 Art Index and Methodology The case for investment into art and the development of
art indices has been at the forefront of the evolution of investing into alternative assets.
Databases, indices, and market reports are now essential analytical tools with which art
investors can assess financial performance. Over the past few decades, researchers have
used different methodologies to calculate the financial returns on art investments, based
on public auction records.
2.1.1 General Review There are four main methodologies for producing art price
indices. Average prices, geometric means, repeat sales and hedonic regressions. The
first significant study was by Stein (1977), who analyzes the financial return of
auctioned paintings in USA and Britain for the period of 1946 68 by using the average
prices methods. Stein considered the auctioned objects each year as a random sample of
the underlying stock of art and constructs an index based on the yearly average
transaction price. Baumol (1986) and Frey and Pommerehne (1989) calculate the
geometric mean return on works that sold at least twice during the considered time frame.
Baumol constructs a data set of transaction prices of the best known art works from 1652
to 1961 in London by using geometric mean method. Revisiting Baumol s study, Frey and
Pommerehne enlarge the data set by extending the time period to 1987 and including
auction sales from European countries. However, these two methods do not enable the
construction
The Role Of Despair In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White...
In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, one of the main characters asks the
other That s all we do isn t it look at things and try new drinks? (Hemingway 476). In
Hemingway s novel, The Sun Also Rises, the characters could also claim that this was
their lives. At any point in the story they are essentially doing nothing but looking at
things and trying new drinks. Critics are right to say that the novel presents motion that
goes nowhere and that it is a novel of stasis and despair. The characters in The Sun Also
Risesoften go to new places, such as new bars with friends, or even to foreign countries,
but they never seem to do anything new. The only thing that changes about their lives is
the setting. Even when Jake was with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brett is the most obvious example of this, when she is in the cab at the beginning of
the novel and says to Jake, Oh, darling, I ve been so miserable (32). No matter what
she does she never seems truly happy. She can get distracted from her sadness, but she
does not escape it. This is shown when she is at the club with Jake and the Count, and
she says It s all gone... I don t know, I just feel terribly (70). Brett goes out and parties
and drinks with the thought that it could make her happy, but she still feels awful.
And she makes the people around her feel bad as well. For example, Cohn, despite
being a boxer, was never one to fight people, but after he had an affair with Brett, he
got into a fight with Jake, Mike, and Pedro. When he realizes what he has done he is
ashamed of himself, saying, Please don t remember it. I was crazy (197). He even asks
all the people he hurt to shake hands afterward, as sort of a repentance. Cohn is
obviously in despair, partly because he was in love with Brett and losing her to all these
other men, but also because he knows that his jealousy is turning him into something he is
How Does Lynne Ramsay Use Film Techniques Of Eva...
How has Ramsay used film techniques to illustrate Eva s point of view and emotional
state in the film? Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011) is a thriller
drama which follows Eva Khatchadourian, a widowed mother in distress due to the
massacre caused by her psychopathic son. Ramsay uses various film techniques to
portray the perspective and emotional state of Eva in the film. Through colour, sound
and music he expresses her feelings clearly to the audience. Colour was widely
explored by Ramsay to depict the extensive array of feelings of Eva. Two prominent
colours were red and yellow. Red is used as the dominant colour to depict Eva s inability
to escape from the guilt and blood caused by the actions of Kevin, her son. Although...

He implements music in contrast to the mood of Eva to express to the audience her
emotional state. A wide array of blues music were often utilised to contrast Eva s
mood. Ham N Eggs by Lonnie Donegan was used when Eva was driving to the jail
from work. Her mood highly contrasts with the uplifting tone of the music as she has
just visited her son in jail. Music was also used to give hints as to the actions of Eva.
As Eva was frantically searching Kevin s room, the song In My Room by The Beach
Boys began playing. The blues song contained lyrics such as, There s a world where I
can go and tell my secrets to In my room, in my room. In this world I lock out all my
worries and my fears. The lyrics show that Eva was searching for any clues to help her
discern the actions and attitude of Kevin. She found nothing to help her determine
Kevin s attitude which was ironic to lyrics. Another example of ironic use of music
was during Eva s work Christmas party where Colin asks her to dance. Eva shyly
rejects the dance and Colin whispers an insult to her. The cheerful song Last Christmas
by Wham! is gradually increased in volume to rival Eva s hurt feelings. Ramsay s
recurring use of music in aims of ironically contrasting Eva s melancholic state, is clearly
expressed to the
Reflection On Critical Reflection
Introduction Critical reflection is the process of probing our thoughts, feelings, and
experiences in order to understand how they fit in with the ideas, concepts, and theories
that are presented by others (Ryerson University, 2016). On the other hand, reflective
practice is the cornerstone of critical analysis to construct meaning. As Brookfield
(1998) stated, critically reflective practice is a process of inquiry involving practitioners
in trying to discover, and research, the assumptions that frame how they work (p.197). In
this paper, I will shed light on my personal critical reflection practice, how it helped me
succeed in my higher educationstudies, and how critical reflection benefited me as a
student and an individual.
Critical Reflective Practice
In my workplace, critical reflection is not practiced formally nor is it visible. I think it is
due to the ever changing nature of management, unstable work environment, and lack of
time. However, I have practiced critical reflection in my higher education studies and in
this paper I will focus on that. Critical reflection is mainly structured around inquiry and
my undergraduate program was developed around problem based learning. In addition,
both individual and collective reflection activities were incorporated into the courses to
assist us (learners) to practice our critical reflection. At first, I found it really hard to
grasp the concept, but soon I realized that critical reflection is the process of

In 2009, we lost one of the greatest entertainers in music history, however his music
still lives on, inspiring and touching people s heart. I have always been a fan of
Michael Jackson, and the reason why I picked this song is because it presents a strong
message. Not only did
Jackson make a powerful statement with his lyrics, he also made one with his choice of
rhythm and beats. The guitars and drums that were used, give the song a dramatic rock
vibe. According to music critics Jackson s album Thriller seemed to be inspired by a
mixture of several genres which previously were never combined ( thrilleralbum). It is

The second verse talks about making the right choice to just go away instead of
shedding blood, and trying to be a tough guy. The third verse simply describes that even
if one chooses to walk away, it is better to be alive than to risk it. The fourth verse in my
opinion talks about the consequences of fighting and that if one chooses to be violent,
chances are that they will get hurt.
As mentioned earlier the chorus defines to just walk away although No One wants To Be
Defeated. It is better to go because in the end It Doesn t Matter Who is Wrong Or Right.
Jackson uses very powerful words and explains that it is always best to look out for
yourself instead of proving yourself to others. It is not worth the struggle (songfacts).
As I was analyzing the song, I was listening for specific sounds and noises that would
symbolize the meaning of the song. I heard a police siren which could symbolize that if
you get involved with gangs and violence, you will end up in jail. I also heard a
snapping sound and deep breathing sounds. The breathing sounds could represent the
sound of someone running away and catching a breath. I could detect sounds as if
someone was getting punched and sounds of blades which could represent a fight. While
searching for different meanings of the song I came across an interesting

Because of this, smoker will still feel pleasure from smoking, just feeling less. But it
would help them to quit real cigarette. The studies were based on a survey of more than
1,500 smokers in December 2012, which was then followed up on a year later. The first

Orleans. Blanche, the deceptive picture of purity, is giving an unexpected visit to her
sister, Stella, and brother in law, Stanley, who immediately demonstrate some doubts
about her staying with them. Throughout the tragic story, Tennessee Williams

However, it is not until Stanley starts to uncover things from her past and that she starts
confessing to Mitch, her love interest, that the signs of her insanity are demonstrated. In
fact, in the beginning she knows that she is lying, such as not letting them know about
why they fired her from the school or telling Mitch her real age. However, as she talks
about her love interest and she starts hallucinating the polka dot music and the shot, the
reader is let know that she is mentally unstable. It is even argued that the crying Mexican
woman was most likely something part of her imagination, as she is the only one that
seems to acknowledge her. Furthermore, in order for Stanley to investigate Blanche
something must have ticked him off, and something did, the beautiful expensive dresses
that she carried in her suitcase. Stanley wanted to see how she got all that money and
why did she not share it with him and Stella. However, as previously explained he found
a lot more than that. Stanley knew she was struggling with a mental illness; in fact, he
was the one that admitted her to the institution, but he was also the one that pushed her to
the point of breakage. A Streetcar Named Desireby Tennessee Williams follows the

Dinner Dandruff Figurative Language
Being an Adult is Dirty Work
Ever wonder why an author writes a certain way? It s because of style. Not what the
author wears but their choice of words, the placement of those words, imagery,
organization, and figurative language. Dinner Dandruff written by Robert Fulghum is a
humorous essay that was written because the author wants to show the gross things
that come with becoming an adult. It has plenty of examples of diction, imagery, and
figurative language. An author s choice of words can showcase their type of style. The
article Dinner Dandruff states That stuff in the bottom of the strainer is toxic waste
deadly poison a danger to health. In Dinner Dandruff the author uses many words with
a negative connotation to show that the stuff is disgusting. The words toxic, deadly,
and danger used in the sentence above are a few examples of his use of negative
connotation. The article also states ... the stuff in the sink strainer was lethal and septic.
The use of the words lethal and septic also have a negative connotation. These words
help Fulghum portray the tone of his article. Robert Fulghum uses multiple pieces of
imagery. The article states To top that, I saw her reach into the wet garbage bag and fish
around in there looking for a lost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One form of figurative language that he uses is a hyperbole. The article states ... and
pick up that lethal gunk and drop it into the garbage. The sentence is an extreme
exaggeration because there is no way that the stuff in the sink is lethal. It is just food that
he thinks is gross. Another type of figurative language is personification. The article
states Even worse, I knew that the stuff could congeal and mush up and mutate into
something living that would crawl out of the sink during the night and get loose in the
house. Fulghum makes it seem that the food could actually do things like crawling. It s
entirely impossible for the food to

The leader is responsible for selecting mentors for the induction process from the staff

skills, expertise and knowledge to coordinate the induction effectively. The observations
and notes taken from the induction process states where the new staff is standing and
now what skills and abilities should be focused for further development.
Thus the progression should continue to give the new staff a chance to enhance their
qualifications and skill where they lack.

Causes Of The American Revolutionary War
The American Revolution also known as the American Revolutionary war and war of
independence. This war arose from conflict in 1776 between the residents of Great
Britain and the colonial Government, which represented British Crown. The
Intolerable Acts where one of the events that led to war. The Intolerable Acts, also
called Coercive Acts started in 1774 when these harsh laws were passed by the British
Parlements. These Acts were just meant to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea
party and other protests. The Intolerable acts were all bad but they did bring everyone
together. They brought everyone together so the colonists joined in a group and fought
the british because enough is enough and as one we had a great victory. (Appleby 119)
Another incident that occurred leading up to the war was the boston massacre. The
boston massacre happened on March 5, 1770 with a small argument between british
private Hugh White and a few colonists outside the custom house in Boston on King
Street. The argument began to escalate as more colonists gathered and began to harass
and throw sticks and snowballs at private white. Soon there was over 50 colonists at the
scene. Local British officer, Captain Thomas Preston, sent a number of soldiers to the
custom house to maintain order. After a few seconds the sight of british soldiers armed
with bayonets just aggravated the crowd further. They began to shout at the soldiers,
daring them to fire. Captain Preston later arrived and tried to
Bob Dylan Impact on Society
Bob Dylan: An Impact on American Society in the 1960 s
Amy Blanton Professor Porter History 22
April 10, 2001
1 The 1960s was a decade of liberation for music, public opinion, dance, invention, and
the binds of racism. From this generation spawned some of the greatest musical artists of
all time one in particular, Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan is considered to be the greatest
influence on popular culture of all time. However, Bob Dylan was not born an idol his
legacy was a result of his surroundings. Throughout Bob Dylan s life, starting with his
childhood, he has been somehow affected by various historical events, such as the after
shocks of the world wars, improvement of television and radio in society, Kennedy s

Bob Dylan, was becoming an increasingly popular musician. Despite Dylan s goal to
become a famous rock n roll star, he soon became known as a folk singer. Most of his
influences were from country, folk, and rhythm and blues. One of his biggest role
models was folk musician Woody Guthrie Bob even adopted Guthrie s Okie accent. That
was the tradition of folk music borrowing from other artists. Dylan
4 borrowed from just about every blues or folk performer he ever saw; the music
belonged to no one. 12 In 1961, Dylan s dreams were becoming a reality he was finally
going to become a star. Columbia Records offered Dylan a contract, and in March of
1962, he released his first album, Bob Dylan, and his second, The Freewheelin Bob
Dylan, in 1963. It was around this time that Bob started writing his protest songs (also
called finger pointing songs sincere expressions of frustration towards leaders who
opposed change13), in response to the beginning of the civil rights movement. There are
several catalysts that led up to the civil rights movement. The integration of major league
baseball in 1947 and Truman s proposal to integrate the armed forces were both pawns in
starting the movement. Also, the integration of schools in 1954 was a major event in
history; the Supreme Court ruled that separate but equal in schools was no longer
tolerable. In the next year, an event took place that would change the course of the
movement. On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa

When demand is strong and rising (e.g. during the upturn phase of the economic cycle),
a business will have more pricing power than when demand is much weaker and falling
(e.g. during a recession).
Often a market may be affected by a demand side shock which takes away the pricing
power of suppliers. The airline industry in the wake of the terrorist attacks in 2001 could
be considered as an example of this.
Summary of the main factors affecting a firm s pricing power

Influence on Pricing Policy
In order to make a profit, a business should ensure that its products are priced above
their average cost. In the short term, it may be acceptable to price below AC if this
price exceeds marginal cost so that the sale still produces a positive contribution to fixed
costs.
If the business is a monopolist, then it has price setting power. At the other extreme, if a
firm operates under conditions of perfect competition, it has no choice and must accept
the market price. The reality is usually somewhere in between. In such cases the chosen
price needs to be considered relative to those of close competitors and with one eye to
the likely reaction of rival firms when a business changes its pricing strategy.
Judgment Papers
Judgment Paper To be a leader, one must have many qualities. Most people believe that
leaders have qualities that determine if they are a good or bad leader, such as being
smart, punctual, sociable, and charismatic. These traits are all very important to a
leader, but the novel, Judgment, by Noel M. Tichy and Warren G. Bennis explain that
the most important quality to a leader is their ability to make good decisions. Tichy and
Bennis write Judgment to clarify what is really important in a leader and what leadership
really means. Judgment is extremely important in a leader. Tichy and Bennis make sure
to emphasize that leaders MUST make good judgment calls because in business, the only

Tichy and Bennis explain that there are three different domains that leaders must
essentially make decisions on. The first and most important domain is people
judgment calls. It is the most important because it has the most potential of being fatal
if a wrong judgment call is made. Also, if the wrong people are chosen for a team, then
there is a high possibility for the strategy not to be executed and for crises to be
handled poorly. So, the first and foremost actions that need to be done are to figure out
who should and should not be on the team. A good leader needs to know how to
choose team members because they are responsible in recognize[ing] the need,
fram[ing] the issue, and mobiliz[ing] and align[ing] the parties who can provide the
information and advice needed to make a good call (Tichy and Bennis 88). This is
extremely difficult because the leader must evaluate each person based on what they
know. Also, people are not objects and so a leader may become attached and that will
impair the leader s judgment and will lead to failure.
A good scenario for people judgment calls would be A. G. Lafley who worked for P
G. Lafley came into P G with a plan. He wanted to make sure the company changed for
the better. But to make this change, he did what I believe is one of the hardest aspects
of the people judgment calls. He had more than half of the top thirty executives leave or
do another project because they were not as good as they
The Rules of Islamic Laws Essay
There are certain Rules Which Create Prohibition, Approvals or Disapprovals in Islam.

Wajib is defined by the jurists as a thing which has been proved by an allegorical
evidence and it s status will be equal to that of Fard .However the Hanfi Consider Fard a
thing without which one may be left outside the mode of Islam . Now the jurists have a
couple of view upon the fact that which Hukm will cause an obligation or that how a
demand will be seen as categorical. The First view is that if the demand is w.r.t to
Amar, Hukum and that if the language constitutes an Amar or an imperative sense it
constitutes and Obligation. Whereas Immam Ghalzi puts forwards his own view
stating that if the demand is followed by a punishment will be known as categorical
demand and it will create an Obligation. Now Demands are of 2 types One tell us to do
something and the second one tells us to abstain from something. Things to be done are
Obligation which has already been discussed. Whereas the things which are not to be
Done are Known as Prohibited or Haram in Arabic. In its Book Weiss says that it is the
nature of law that prescribes an obligation or permitted.
Haram is when the demand is made for omitting of acts and is expressed in binding
terms . Examples can be seen in the cases of Adultery, Riba, Intoxication and Etc. Even
Marriages with the women of Hurmat have been declared Haram and all of the
relations in that category have been clearly told by Allah in Quran . So In this way Allah

When playing video games, it induces and stimulates the brain reward center in the
brain, like which a system is created where reward is given through new discovery and

Essay on Characteristics of Dolphins
Characteristics of Dolphins
The majority of small tooth whales are called dolphins. Dolphins are mammals of the
order Cetacean and the families Plantanistidae and Delphinidae and include about 50
species (Internet 1). Most dolphin species are about 6 feet in length, the males averaging
4 to 8 inches longer than females. The longest dolphin, the bottle nose dolphin, can reach
over nine feet in length and weight up to 440 pounds. The smallest dolphin species is
the buffalo which is found in the Amazon River. The Buffalo dolphin rarely grows over
3.9 feet or weighs more than 66 pounds. A dolphin s diet consists mainly of herring,
mackerel, and sardines. Some species however, prefer squid, shrimp and other ... Show

A dolphin s normal cruising speed is about 23 to 25 mph, and if they are bow riding,
they have been known to get up to 30mph. Because dolphins are mammals (warm
blooded) their internal temperature is between 97.9o to 99of. They normally come to
the surface to breathe about every two minutes. Each breath consists of a short, almost
explosive exhalation, followed by a slightly longer inhalation. Dolphins can hold their
breath for up to several minutes and are capable of rapid and deep dives of more then
1,000 ft. Dolphins once were hunted commercially, for the small quantity of valuable oil
extracted from parts of the head and used to lubricated delicate watch mechanisms. Since
cheaper oils have now been found from other sources, dolphins are no longer hunted for
this reason. Many dolphins, however, become accidentally trapped and drowned in tuna
nets. Between the years 1959 and 1972 an estimated 4.8 million dolphins died this way
(www.thedolphinplace.com/facts.html). Because of the pressure from animal rights
activists and United States consumers, both domestic and international tuna canners have
refused to accept shipments from fishing fleets that do not protect dolphins. The Marine
Mammal Protection Act of 1972, amended in 1988 and 1992, was passed to prevent
The Wars During The French Revolution
Since the beginning of time, armies have attacked their neighbors with the conquered
having to endure the pillaging of their properties and goods. The goods most sought
after were things that most resembled the culture and values of the place they had
raided. These typically included religious articles, military banners or symbols, works of
art, and important written records, (Kurtz 1985, 1). These were sought after by the
conquerors because they would represent their success in battle for years and they would
be able to display them to show their dominance.
In Europe, this occurred frequently even before any of the World Wars. The Religious
wars of the sixteenth century seemed to accelerate this trend. However, due to the
deprivation caused by these wars, the wars during the eighteenth century were more
focused on destruction of enemy forces and infrastructure. The wars during the French
revolution marked a return to the old ways of looting personal goods, and it was
continued by Napoleon and his armies they brought back to France treasures from
public and private collections from Italy and the rest of Europe (Kurtz 1985, 2 3). The
rise of Napoleon marked the return of raiding and looting for the sake of demonstrating
absolute power over enemies, a practice that was unfortunately continued by Adolf Hitler
and the Nazis during their reign of terror and destruction during the 1930sand 1940s.
The Nazi war machine wreaked havoc on Europe during World War II. Numerous nations

Abstract
One of the key priorities of governments internationally is to ensure that they will be able
to develop the necessary mechanisms for the increase of their countries competitiveness
in the international community. In this case, the increase of competitiveness is related
with the increase of the power of the country to intervene in political issues of high
importance; it is also related with the improvement of the country s position in the global
market. Information technology is commonly used as a tool of the achievement of the
above targets
(Xu et al., 2009, p.18); current study focuses on the potential role of information system
as a tool for achieving competitive advantage; reference is made to the

From another point of view, Rocheleau et al. (2002) noted that the development of
information systems in modern organizations is differentiated in accordance with the
organizational needs and structure (Stair et al. 2009, p.14); the resources available for
the realization of the relevant projects are also expected to be taken into consideration
when having to design and establish a specific information technology system (Shah et
al., 2009,
p.144). In this context, it is assumed that differences are likely to appear between the
information systems used in the private sector and those involved in activities of the
public sector. Regarding this issue, Rocheleau et al. (2002) state that there are important
differences between public and private information systems; competition forces
businesses to use information technology (IT) as a weapon to gain competitive
advantage (Rocheleau et al., 2002, p.379); on the other hand, the empirical research
developed by Rocheleau et al. (2002) led to the conclusion that organizations in the
public sector are likely to appreciate the value of IT systems as much as the private
organizations do (Lytras et al., 2009, p.31); however, the latter have been found to be
willing to invest significant amount of money on the training of the staff on the IT
systems. The examination

The Harley Owners Group or HOG is a factory sponsored motorcycle enthusiast club
established in 1983. Its main aim was to negate the influence of outlaw bike gangs as
the face of the Harley Davidson brand and enhance the lifestyle experience of a Harley
Davidson owner. This was the roadmap of the firm s broad philosophy of getting close

Posse 2 was described as the border to border ride from Texas to North Dakota passing
through the legendary, Road to Nowhere . The registration limit for this ride was
increased to 400 to accommodate the increasing interest in the Posse Ride, while at the
same time preserving the exclusivity of the ride. Though many members did not
approve of the route for the 2nd ride, they were actively interested in coming for it
because it was the ride and not the route which mattered for them. This very aptly
epitomises the entire concept of the Posse Ride. The Posse rides thus went a long way
in addressing the issues of customer loyalty faced by the firm.
Analysis of the Posse Riders
The riders of the Posse ride are an integral part of the whole concept and their attitudes
and perception regarding the ride is what builds the brand community for Harley. This
ride has been intended as a learning process for the riders as they are passionate about
their Harleys and riding them. The ride will cement not only their initial perception about
the brand but will also build new linkages.

  • 2. Song, Zombie, by Dolores O’Riordan, American Mind and... Zombie The song Zombie written by Dolores O Riordan effectively describes the post colonial theory, in its subsections; issues on power dynamics, economic issues, and political issues to portray that people s conscience cannot be silenced. O Riordan composed Zombie after the bomb blast in Cheshire Ireland during 1993, which killed two innocent children. The bomb was caused by the Irish Republican Army, most commonly known as the IRA which is a militant group that formed in 1916. O Riordan recorded the song in an effort to stop the war between the IRA and British. Since the 1600s the British have ruled Ireland, and they have used Ireland for their own economic needs. British used the Irish slave trade to torture the Irish and generate cheap labour. The harsh standards of the British lead to the formation of the IRA whom fought out for independence. Due to the selfish economic needs of the British the IRA have had to fight for their independence. This signifies that even though the British have ruled the Irish for hundreds of years, the conscience of the Irish have not been silenced. This is because the Irish have been conscience of the British ruling, however due to the power that the British withhold; the Irish people could not do anything. In 1916 there was hope for the Irish because the IRA would gain independence for the Irish by fighting against the British. However the war went on for too long with no change. O Riordan sings, Same old theme since

Most are christian and/or believe in their ancient traditions. They live in Ogoniland, Nigeria. The nation is about 404 square miles. They speak the Ogoni language and their population is about 2 million people. The group that is helping them most to become a state is MOSOP. Ogoniland is located in River State on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea, east of Port Harcourt. Ogoniland is divided into the 6 kingdoms of Babbe (Bab), Gokhana (Gawk na), Ken Khana (Ken Kana), Nyo Khana (Knee o Kana), Eleme (El a may), and Tai (Tie). In February of 1995, after eight months of being detained without official charges, Ken Saro Wiwa and the other Ogoni leaders were brought before a special tribunal, established by the military government. Independent international observers expressed their deep doubts about the fairness of the trial in protest of the Tribunal s failure to meet even Nigeria s own standards of fairness. On October 31, 1995, Ken Saro Wiwa and eight other Ogoni were sentenced to death by the Special Tribunal. In March 1996, non partisan elections were held in Nigeria to fill all local government seats with elected civilian Chairs and Councilors. It was widely reported that all persons associated with MOSOP were prevented from participation, and those who presented themselves were either beaten or detained and later disqualified. By June, 1998, the maximum dictator, General Sani Abacha under whose watch thousands of Ogoni people perished eventually died in mysterious circumstances. This ushered in a new attempt at democratic engagement and electoral processes. The electoral process ushered in Chief Olusegun Obasanjo ( olu se gun ob a san jo), himself a former prisoner on death row under

A typical arrangement is to build a metasearch motor on top of the web indexes. After accepting a client question, the metasearch motor sends it to those fundamental web indexes which are liable to give back the craved archives for the inquiry. The determination calculation utilized by a metasearch motor to figure out if a web index ought to be sent the inquiry ordinarily settles on the choice in light of the web search tool agent, which contains trademark data about the database of a web search tool. Be that as it may, a hidden web index may not will to give the required data to the metasearch motor. This paper demonstrates that the required data can be evaluated from an uncooperative web crawlerwith great exactness. Two bits of data which license precise web crawler determination are the quantity of reports filed by the web index and the greatest weight of every term. In this paper, we display systems for the estimation of these two bits of data. (Reference scholar.google.co.in) (Ryen W. White, 2008) Any given Web internet searcher may give higher quality results than others for certain questions. Thusly, it is to clients greatest advantage to use different web crawlers. In this paper, we propose and assess a system that boosts clients hunt viable ness by guiding them to the motor that yields the best
  • 5. Rules 4 Creating Power Point Presentation 10 Rules for Creating Successful Power Point Presentations I ve blogged many times on how NOT to use Power Point. Most people use it incorrectly, and it becomes a barrier between speaker and audience. For example, they create word slides, really speaker notes, with many bullets of text, expecting what? the audience to read along with them? Or, they go nuts with the animation, swoops, and flying headlines that make audiences dizzy to little purpose. Or they use cheap looking clip art that creates a tacky image of speaker and organization in the mind of the audience. But what about the right way to use Power Point? What does that look like? Is there any right way? Following are 10 rules for using Power Point successfully. 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you use a word processor, such as Word, you just keep typing. The rays of the sun mix with three different shades of bright and dark colors like red, orange, and yellow. The dark blue sky is still filled with lingering clouds that flee from the sun as it makes its assent. The skyline of New York Citycasts a gorgeous reflection onto the East River. New York is one of the best known cities in United States with a total area is 468.9 square miles. About one third of New York City is water and the rest of it is land. It was like a spa place that it is so quiet, yet it feels so magical with candles all over the place and it is sort of dark were you can feel so relaxed once you lay down in this very comfy bed that is covered in white silk covers with fluffy pillows that almost feels like marshmallows. My apartment is filled marvelous paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and with his famous paintings of Starry Night and Sunflowers and some motivated quotes on the wall. Having these paintings will sure describe my living experience in New York. The painting Starry Night shows the meaning of the alluring skyline at night in the city where it has the bright lights from each of the windows of the buildings and how the sky is yet very dark but still see the shade of blue in the sky. Also in the painting it shows a little wind which in New York sort of has at night time a little breeze that can give you slight goose bumps in your arms. The other painting by Vincent Van Gogh Sunflowers shows a meaning for me in the summertime in New York where all the flowers bloom up and the bright sun rises up into the city. That feeling when you get up from bed, in the summertime, with a big smile on your face and having to see the people around you with their faces so uplifting. In the center of my living room, I would have this crystal chandelier that is very appealing with white crystals and small diamonds around
  • 7. Road Cormac Mccarthy The Road Analysis The book The Road Cormac McCarthy creates a darkened mood when he puts this son and father into a destroyed world. McCarthy created this concept of a world to intensify the meaning of the piece all together. This darkness in the world creates to fear and the isolation for characters to realize that this is how life is from now on. The son in this novel comes to the realization of the world due to certain events within the novel that manipulation the view the son has on the world. An important flaw the son has is that he does not remember the world as a peaceful place the son only remembers the world destroyed. This type of naivetes gives the boy a minimal outlook on the past and see the difference of the present. The father knows the difference which gives the father the realization before The Roadbegins. The son in portions of The Road is starving, this desolate place called the world does not give any chance of hope or second ones. The importance of this geographical state in the book makes the father and son rely on one another because they know the very importance of staying alive, and the only way they can do that is to fight for one another. The Road opens with a setting of desolation, When he woke in the woods in the dark and the cold of the night he d reach out to touch the child sleeping beside him , which creates a concern within the readers that are realizing the magnitude of this horrible place. (McCarthy 3) The son in the first page of the book is mentioned

What Is Meade s Failure After three days of battle that saw Lee s army enjoy early success, but Meade s army still holding its ground, the ill advised assault by 12,500 Confederate troops on Cemetery Ridge (known as Pickett s Charge) was the straw that broke the rebels back. The Union line held while pushing the Confederates back, and the Confederates suffered severe losses. The loss at Gettysburg represented more than a simple failure. It represented the first major defeat of Lee on northern soil. While the losses were fairly even, 23,055 for the north and 23,231 for the south, the losses on the Confederate side were devastating to the Northern Army of Virginia at a time when the south could not replace its dead soldiers effectively. What Lee hoped to do was cross
  • 9. Mario Milkuliencer s Trouble With Trust Trust can be a controversial topic for many, however the natural positive vibe that humans receive from the word tends to override any reservations of it. According to the online Merriam Webster Dictionary, trust requires assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. In today s society trustis slowly starting to disintegrate with the lack of face to face communication within the age of electronic communication. Because of this we have the inability to trust others as it starts to develop into trust issues, especially among the younger generation from the lack of physical connection among individuals. The first foundation that comes with developing trust is reliability. Possessing reliability in someone or something is important to begin a relationship. According, to Mario Milkuliencer in the online article Trouble With Trust by Psychology Today there are three basic foundations. The first one is to have the assumption that if you need a help you can turn to someone you trust. The second foundation is to have an assumption that your closest companion will always be there for you. The third and final foundation explains recognition that... • 10. Examples Of Inequities In Aboriginal Health As health professionals, we must look beyond individual attributes of Indigenous Australians to gain a greater understanding and a possible explanation of why there are such high rates of ill health issues such as alcoholism, depression, abuse, shorter life expectancy and higher prevalence of diseases including diabetes, heart disease and obesity in our indigenous population. Looking at just the individual aspects and the biomedical health model, we don t get the context of Aboriginal health. This is why we need to explore in further detail what events could have created such inequities in Aboriginal health. Other details that we should consider are the historical and cultural factors such as, terra nullius , dispossession and social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was this day that was the start of a long dark history of cruelty and ill treatment towards the traditional custodians of Australia. Under the terra nullius law, the Aboriginals lost their land, which is now known as dispossession. To justify this dispossession, the English followed the set of beliefs that are now identified as social Darwinism. Social Darwinism, with its powerful racially based doctrines, ranked Indigenous Australians as inferior to Europeans and provided a rationale for dispossession by drawing on the laws of natural selection to justify the inevitable extinction of Indigenous Australians in the face of the arrival of the superior white race (Psychology and Indigenous Australians, Foundations of Cultural Competence, 2009, pp. 75). By having their land taken away from them, the Aboriginals lost part of their spiritual connection and their sense of belonging and identity because Aboriginal culture is based heavily on the spirits of the land. These connections that bonded the Aboriginals to the land were never understood by the English settlers, who only saw the land as possible income (Psychology and Indigenous Australians, Foundations of Cultural Competence, 2009.). They also lost a lot of their sacred areas, spiritual areas and meeting places because they were on the land that the white people had divided and fenced of the land that these areas were on and if an Aboriginal was trying to
  • 11. The Case For Investment Into Art And The Development Of... 2.1 Art Index and Methodology The case for investment into art and the development of art indices has been at the forefront of the evolution of investing into alternative assets. Databases, indices, and market reports are now essential analytical tools with which art investors can assess financial performance. Over the past few decades, researchers have used different methodologies to calculate the financial returns on art investments, based on public auction records. 2.1.1 General Review There are four main methodologies for producing art price indices. Average prices, geometric means, repeat sales and hedonic regressions. The first significant study was by Stein (1977), who analyzes the financial return of auctioned paintings in USA and Britain for the period of 1946 68 by using the average prices methods. Stein considered the auctioned objects each year as a random sample of the underlying stock of art and constructs an index based on the yearly average transaction price. Baumol (1986) and Frey and Pommerehne (1989) calculate the geometric mean return on works that sold at least twice during the considered time frame. Baumol constructs a data set of transaction prices of the best known art works from 1652 to 1961 in London by using geometric mean method. Revisiting Baumol s study, Frey and Pommerehne enlarge the data set by extending the time period to 1987 and including auction sales from European countries. However, these two methods do not enable the construction
  • 12. The Role Of Despair In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White... In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, one of the main characters asks the other That s all we do isn t it look at things and try new drinks? (Hemingway 476). In Hemingway s novel, The Sun Also Rises, the characters could also claim that this was their lives. At any point in the story they are essentially doing nothing but looking at things and trying new drinks. Critics are right to say that the novel presents motion that goes nowhere and that it is a novel of stasis and despair. The characters in The Sun Also Risesoften go to new places, such as new bars with friends, or even to foreign countries, but they never seem to do anything new. The only thing that changes about their lives is the setting. Even when Jake was with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brett is the most obvious example of this, when she is in the cab at the beginning of the novel and says to Jake, Oh, darling, I ve been so miserable (32). No matter what she does she never seems truly happy. She can get distracted from her sadness, but she does not escape it. This is shown when she is at the club with Jake and the Count, and she says It s all gone... I don t know, I just feel terribly (70). Brett goes out and parties and drinks with the thought that it could make her happy, but she still feels awful. And she makes the people around her feel bad as well. For example, Cohn, despite being a boxer, was never one to fight people, but after he had an affair with Brett, he got into a fight with Jake, Mike, and Pedro. When he realizes what he has done he is ashamed of himself, saying, Please don t remember it. I was crazy (197). He even asks all the people he hurt to shake hands afterward, as sort of a repentance. Cohn is obviously in despair, partly because he was in love with Brett and losing her to all these other men, but also because he knows that his jealousy is turning him into something he is
  • 13. How Does Lynne Ramsay Use Film Techniques Of Eva... How has Ramsay used film techniques to illustrate Eva s point of view and emotional state in the film? Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011) is a thriller drama which follows Eva Khatchadourian, a widowed mother in distress due to the massacre caused by her psychopathic son. Ramsay uses various film techniques to portray the perspective and emotional state of Eva in the film. Through colour, sound and music he expresses her feelings clearly to the audience. Colour was widely explored by Ramsay to depict the extensive array of feelings of Eva. Two prominent colours were red and yellow. Red is used as the dominant colour to depict Eva s inability to escape from the guilt and blood caused by the actions of Kevin, her son. Although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He implements music in contrast to the mood of Eva to express to the audience her emotional state. A wide array of blues music were often utilised to contrast Eva s mood. Ham N Eggs by Lonnie Donegan was used when Eva was driving to the jail from work. Her mood highly contrasts with the uplifting tone of the music as she has just visited her son in jail. Music was also used to give hints as to the actions of Eva. As Eva was frantically searching Kevin s room, the song In My Room by The Beach Boys began playing. The blues song contained lyrics such as, There s a world where I can go and tell my secrets to In my room, in my room. In this world I lock out all my worries and my fears. The lyrics show that Eva was searching for any clues to help her discern the actions and attitude of Kevin. She found nothing to help her determine Kevin s attitude which was ironic to lyrics. Another example of ironic use of music was during Eva s work Christmas party where Colin asks her to dance. Eva shyly rejects the dance and Colin whispers an insult to her. • 14. Reflection On Critical Reflection Introduction Critical reflection is the process of probing our thoughts, feelings, and experiences in order to understand how they fit in with the ideas, concepts, and theories that are presented by others (Ryerson University, 2016). On the other hand, reflective practice is the cornerstone of critical analysis to construct meaning. As Brookfield (1998) stated, critically reflective practice is a process of inquiry involving practitioners in trying to discover, and research, the assumptions that frame how they work (p.197). In this paper, I will shed light on my personal critical reflection practice, how it helped me succeed in my higher educationstudies, and how critical reflection benefited me as a student and an individual. Critical Reflective Practice In my workplace, critical reflection is not practiced formally nor is it visible. I think it is due to the ever changing nature of management, unstable work environment, and lack of time. However, I have practiced critical reflection in my higher education studies and in this paper I will focus on that. Critical reflection is mainly structured around inquiry and my undergraduate program was developed around problem based learning. In addition, both individual and collective reflection activities were incorporated into the courses to assist us (learners) to practice our critical reflection. At first, I found it really hard to grasp the concept, but soon I realized that critical reflection is the process of

I have always been a fan of Michael Jackson, and the reason why I picked this song is because it presents a strong message. Not only did Jackson make a powerful statement with his lyrics, he also made one with his choice of rhythm and beats. The guitars and drums that were used, give the song a dramatic rock vibe. According to music critics Jackson s album Thriller seemed to be inspired by a mixture of several genres which previously were never combined ( thrilleralbum). It is pretty obvious ... The third verse simply describes that even if one chooses to walk away, it is better to be alive than to risk it. The fourth verse in my opinion talks about the consequences of fighting and that if one chooses to be violent, chances are that they will get hurt. As mentioned earlier the chorus defines to just walk away although No One wants To Be Defeated. It is better to go because in the end It Doesn t Matter Who is Wrong Or Right. Jackson uses very powerful words and explains that it is always best to look out for yourself instead of proving yourself to others. It is not worth the struggle (songfacts). As I was analyzing the song, I was listening for specific sounds and noises that would symbolize the meaning of the song. I heard a police siren which could symbolize that if you get involved with gangs and violence, you will end up in jail. I also heard a snapping sound and deep breathing sounds. The breathing sounds could represent the sound of someone running away and catching a breath. I could detect sounds as if someone was getting punched and sounds of blades which could represent a fight. While searching for different meanings of the song I came across an interesting

The Intolerable Acts, also called Coercive Acts started in 1774 when these harsh laws were passed by the British Parlements. These Acts were just meant to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea party and other protests. The Intolerable acts were all bad but they did bring everyone together. They brought everyone together so the colonists joined in a group and fought the british because enough is enough and as one we had a great victory. (Appleby 119) Another incident that occurred leading up to the war was the boston massacre. The boston massacre happened on March 5, 1770 with a small argument between british private Hugh White and a few colonists outside the custom house in Boston on King Street. The argument began to escalate as more colonists gathered and began to harass and throw sticks and snowballs at private white. Soon there was over 50 colonists at the scene. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When demand is strong and rising (e.g. during the upturn phase of the economic cycle), a business will have more pricing power than when demand is much weaker and falling (e.g. during a recession). Often a market may be affected by a demand side shock which takes away the pricing power of suppliers. The airline industry in the wake of the terrorist attacks in 2001 could be considered as an example of this. Summary of the main factors affecting a firm s pricing power Category Costs Competitors Influence on Pricing Policy In order to make a profit, a business should ensure that its products are priced above their average cost. In the short term, it may be acceptable to price below AC if this price exceeds marginal cost so that the sale still produces a positive contribution to fixed costs. If the business is a monopolist, then it has price setting power. At the other extreme, if a firm operates under conditions of perfect competition, it has no choice and must accept the market price. The reality is usually somewhere in between. In such cases the chosen price needs to be considered relative to those of close competitors and with one eye to the likely reaction of rival firms when a business changes its pricing strategy.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tichy and Bennis explain that there are three different domains that leaders must essentially make decisions on. The first and most important domain is people judgment calls. It is the most important because it has the most potential of being fatal if a wrong judgment call is made. Also, if the wrong people are chosen for a team, then there is a high possibility for the strategy not to be executed and for crises to be handled poorly. So, the first and foremost actions that need to be done are to figure out who should and should not be on the team. A good leader needs to know how to choose team members because they are responsible in recognize[ing] the need, fram[ing] the issue, and mobiliz[ing] and align[ing] the parties who can provide the information and advice needed to make a good call (Tichy and Bennis 88). This is extremely difficult because the leader must evaluate each person based on what they know. The goods most sought after were things that most resembled the culture and values of the place they had raided. These typically included religious articles, military banners or symbols, works of art, and important written records, (Kurtz 1985, 1). These were sought after by the conquerors because they would represent their success in battle for years and they would be able to display them to show their dominance. In Europe, this occurred frequently even before any of the World Wars. The Religious wars of the sixteenth century seemed to accelerate this trend. However, due to the deprivation caused by these wars, the wars during the eighteenth century were more focused on destruction of enemy forces and infrastructure. The wars during the French revolution marked a return to the old ways of looting personal goods, and it was continued by Napoleon and his armies they brought back to France treasures from public and private collections from Italy and the rest of Europe (Kurtz 1985, 2 3).
