2. IDENTITY
I am a hard worker. My core values are
always to be honest. I create content hoping
at the end of the day, and I make a
difference in someone's life. I want to be
true to myself and my viewers in the work I
showcase. I take pride in everything I do, and
I want to make sure every detail is met. I
have created a lot sport highlight films. I
have been a scorekeeper during live games
at multiple Universities.
3. PROFESSION
Photographers
Before even getting a job, I already
have a significant amount of camera
equipment. I will always be ready with
having extra batteries and extra
storage for the content I need to
collect."Originality — The ability to
come up with unusual or clever ideas
about a given topic or situation, or to
develop creative ways to solve a
problem." (2020) Making sure my
viewers enjoy the images is my focus.
Being able to capture compelling
photos during a game is very intense,
needs a lot of attention.
Film and Video Editors
Before creating a highlight video, I
always write out a plan. I need to able
to know how the video will start and
how the video will end. During the
sporting event, I like to capture extra
footage just in case, and it gives me
more footage to work with. I enjoy
including different effects in the video,
and before I start filming, I already have
the music picked out. My goal is to
make the viewers feel like they were
there. I want to get the players and fans
hyped for the next game.
Technical
Directors/Managers
I created my own Sports Broadcast
show in college, called "Bison Sports
Talk." I started from the bottom I must
find a Host and two Co-Hosts. Crew
members would hold the cameras and
get different angles. I had to set up
multiple interviews with either coaches
or players. Creating scripts and
reviewing it with my host and co-hosts
was a process. During live games, being
a Technical Director takes focus and an
on-going mind. I have created game
graphics: welcome and scoreboards.
4. CAREER GOALS
(5months-Graduation)
In five months, I will be moving
to Charlotte, NC, deciding to take
a big leap in life. Before deciding
Charlotte, I looked at all the
major cities that have most of the
professional teams, and Charlotte
seems to be the only one to have
NFL, MiLB, NBA, and NCAA I
university all in the same area.
That gives multiple options when
I graduate the next year.
(5yrs-10yrs)
I want to be either settle down
ultimately into doing
film/photography work. A
possibility is to travel with the
teams and more access to
game events; pre-season and
post-season. I want to create a
new social media page that
contains all my videos and
photos, that the social media
platform is well known.
(15yrs-20yrs)
My skills continue to grow that
I can teach others how I do my
job. My camera equipment
continues to grow. I own all
the top-level equipment. I
want editing skills for videos
and photos to get better than
ever. Continuing to create
content for fans and teams
and moving up to a leadership
position.
6. PROMISE
I will bring new and creative content ideas to
the table; no idea will be repeated.
7. CREDENTIALS
During the 2020
season, I worked
home games for the
XFL Tampa Bay
Vipers. I handed out
credentials to Media
crew and XFL
League personals.
Assistant with the
end of game fan
events.
Yearly in FL, they had a
tournament for DI, DII, and DII
universities' softball times. The
SPRING games, this year, I was
involved, and I was a live stream
sports scorekeeper. Responsible
for daily operations of the live
stream and online scoreboard for
parents and other teams. Had to
start live stream video feed for
up to 5 live streams. I had to use
a tablet and laptop, track the
start, stop, and score for up to 5
softball games at one time—used
FloScoreboard software.
At one of my colleges, I was
a Technical Director for all
sports games, and we used a
tricaster switcher. Being a
part of the BBN studio, I have
been able to create my own
Sports Broadcast, and I
handled the twitter page. I
have created a couple of
hype/promo videos for
teams. Created graphics for
live games. Such as welcome,
scoreboards, and timeouts.
8. CREDENTIALS
I was able to attend
Daytona 500 Media Day
(Feb 12, 2020). During the
media day, I was able to
interact with the racers.
Ask them questions about
their previous races or the
upcoming race. I was able
to get photos and film
each racer.
A few basketball games at
Rollins College during live
basketball games, I had to
cut the highlight film.
During halftime and after
the game, I had to provide a
shot sheet to the
announcers.
9. COMPETITION
Jame Ballerstein (current Full Sail University Student)
https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamesballerstein/
His LinkedIn page is
more up to date, more
appealing to future
hirers.
Mine isn't that great; I
don't have any of my
videos from YouTube
linked to it.
His "about" is more
detailed with
information about him
and what he enjoys
doing. He includes his
goals with his career.
My "about" section isn't
as formal. I need more
details.
He has a little more experience
than me. He has "Production
Assistant" and "Associate
Producer." Also, he does freelance
work that brings income to me.
He has two certifications from
Lynda.com
Even though I create videos for a
team, I don't get paid for it. I
need to work on getting some
certifications so that I can be
more creditable to future hirers.
James has three
recommendations
written on his LinkedIn
page, his current and
previous supervisors.
I need to ask for
recommendations
from my previous
supervisors.
10. COMPETITION
Emily Markus (Producer/Editor at NFL Network)
https://www.linkedin.com/in/emilymarkus/
Emily has 23 job
experiences on LinkedIn. I
like how she attaches
images or links to blogs she
has created before.
I did not know you can do
that. I am starting to get
the idea that LinkedIn is
another online portfolio.
Emily has a few
endorsements in her
"skills" section that
gives her more
creditable. Also, with
her recommendation,
she has from a previous
supervisor.
I need to do a better
job at networking. I
need to advise myself
more.
Emily’s “about” is more
in-depth with details.
She talks a lot about her
accomplishments and
what she enjoys doing.
Emily's LinkedIn
profile picture
looks professional.
You can see it was
taken at an event
she was at.
I need to pick a
better headshot. I
need more light in
the background.
11. BRAND POSITION
I am different because I am young, new, and creative. I have created
over 40+ graphics and ten sports highlight films. I'm interested in
Baseball, Football, Softball, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, and Lacrosse; I
don't limit myself to one sport. I am willing to learn new software, new
techniques to improve my content and skills. I am available all the
time, and I am eager to put myself out there.
12. NETWORKING & MARKETING
After moving to Charlotte, in 2021, I will attend as many sporting events in
the area (NFL, NBA, MiLB, and UNCC D1). I want to create a twitter page that
talks about Charlotte athletics as a whole city. I know I will be starting
small, but people in the area might find it and follow the page and look to
my page for updates. I will have to stay up to date with everything that is
going on and follow other pages to get noticed. I will update my LinkedIn
account with all my photos and videos I have created. I will start to connect
with people and send them my digital portfolio.
13. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Right now, one of the biggest things that are holding me back is finishing school at Full Sail University
and receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Sportscasting. I need to learn more software:
• "Adobe Systems Adobe Photoshop" (2020)
• "Adobe Systems Adobe Photoshop Lightroom" (2020)
• "SmugMug Flickr" (2020)
• "Video creation and editing software — Apple Final Cut Pro; Side Effects Houdini; The Associated Press
ENPS" (2020)
I need to practice more. To reach my career goal, I need to start applying for internships at the stadiums to
begin to get to know certain people. I need to fix up my portfolio and resume. I need to start working on
earning certifications. I will try my best to stay connected with my program director Gus Ramsey, even if I
am online. I receive advice from him and his opinion on specific internships I decided to apply to. I have
ten months before graduation, so I have plenty of time to work and improve my skills.
14. ELEVATOR PITCH
Alexis B-M Reyes
You know how most sports lack in weekly highlight videos?
Well, what I do is create hype videos created from footage
captured during live games. I add a few edits and music to it.
In fact, I created a couple for college teams, and each video
received over 1,000+ views when I posted it on a social media
platform.
