2016). A disease or disorder is defined as rare in the U.S when it affects fewer than 200,000
Americans at any given time (Eurordis 2016). Some of these rare diseases come with even more
rare and controversial decisions. The FDA just made its most controversial drug approval of the
year (Fortune 2016). This injectable drug is called eteplirsen by Sarepta Therapeutics and it is an
