The organization that I would like to pursue once I have completed my degree is
with Seven Counties. They are based in Louisville, Kentucky and offer many
services to aid children and families in need. I believe in what they stand for and
their vision for the community. Seven counties believe that every life matters and,

Program. I believe in their values but, I like the fact that the agency I chose works
with a broader range of issues. Another agency I researched was Communicare

same services as Seven Counties. Seven counties collaborates with many outside
resources to better serve the community. They provide services in seven different
counties around Kentucky. They have services that adhere to children and families

While an undergraduate at The Ohio State University I was very active in school
clubs and recreational sports. I was the Vice President of the Portuguese Club and
was a member of the Promotions team for the local radio station. I volunteered at a
dog shelter and with foster boys living in a group home. I was also a trip leader in
university and led a group of seven university students to Atlanta, GA to work with
teenagers in a low performing school. This involved handling the budget and activities

of First They Killed My Father, and Kamala Markandaya, author of Nectar In A
Sieve, chronicled the devastating effects of starvation in Cambodia and India. Both
Ung and Markandaya illustrate the daily struggles of not having access to food
through vivid descriptions of what it takes to not die.
Ung writes about how her family worked to survive. They roamed the fields for

However, Markandaya differs from Ung some of the time. Markandaya and her
family were in such a desperate time that, some time from sheer rebellion we ate
grass. This is similar to how Ung would eat horrendous foods like animal hides,

They both gave vivid depictions to show the hardships they encountered while trying
to survive. Ung would not have eaten insects if she had not faced starvation. This is
similar to Markandaya because she knows that eating grass gives her stomach

The petition was presented to the Assembly after only one month. This cause
became obvious that it wasn t only for the Indian s right to vote but for their
survival as a community in Natal. The majority of Indians had just stayed in South
Africa after their time as slaves on plantations or in mines ended. These men were
