2. PEER COUNSELING
The first person I interviewed was Jan Carlo F. Salinas, a Fourth-year student of
Manaoag National High School. When I asked him about his biggest problem in their house,
he answered, “My brother.” It is because his brother always commands him for he was
older than Jan Carlo. The only thing I can say and answer for that is that learn to do those
commands if those were for good because he still is your brother. In their school, his grades
were a problem. So, I can only say that, be patient in studying because those were the only
way to pay for your parents’ sacrifices. In the community, he mentioned pollution, so the
only thing you can do is that be responsible enough as a part of the community and you can
help by simply segregating your own wastes inside and outside your house. His friends, he
said some were selfish. Well, nobody’s perfect, so learn to let them know their own
mistakes by treating them the other way around, meaning, treat them nicely. Hope I helped
a little in your problem.
The second person was named May A. Garcia, another Fourth-year student of
Manaoag National High School. Her problem in their house was financial. Well, that’s a very
common problem that most of the people in the society experience. I can say that as long as
you pursue your life and never give up, you can cope with that problem someday and you
will be able to succeed in life. In their school, shifting was a problem. You know, as long as
you always experience shifting, you soon will not say that shifting was a problem, it is
sometimes good for it lessens time consuming for studying and at the same time, you can
save money also. In the community, undisciplined people were a problem. Well, maybe the
answer for that is to do not disturb their own lives and just focus in your own life because
sometimes involving in some of those things makes you prone to harm. In her friends, some
were unreliable. So, do not trust easily in them. Be good enough to know them first before
trusting them.
The third person I asked was Michael Jeric Wania and his problem in their house
was also about financial. Well, as what I have said to May earlier, do not let that problem
affect you and let you give up. As long as you pursue in your life, money is not a big

3. problem. The same in the school, money is a problem in supplying school needs but the
only answer is that be good enough to be patient to finish studying because that’s the key to
break those problems because after studying hard for sure there will be an opportunity to
earn money when you work. In the community, only those rich people can afford some
expensive products so he again focused on financial. Well, why do you need to buy those
expensive products if you don’t need it? So, just budget your money and buy only those you
need because expensive products that don’t have much importance for you are considered
useless if you can’t use it either. In his friends, money again is the problem because no
matter how good your bonding with each other, sometimes you really need money to treat
them snacks and others but I can say that, even you lacked money sometimes, as long as
they were your true friends, they can still appreciate simple things you do for them.
Florence Hannah Mendoza, a third-year high school student of St. Camillus College
of Manaoag, said that her biggest problem in their house was also financial and as what I
have said a while ago, you don’t need to have too much money as long as you can sustain
your basic needs and you pursue and never give up in life, it works a lot. In school,
examinations for her were a problem. Well, if you feel difficulty in taking exams it doesn’t
matter, as long as you were honest enough and you don’t cheat, that will be good. And as
what a famous person said, a single sheet of paper cannot decide our future so learn to
accept failures. In the community, pervert people were a very big problem for her because
it traumatizes victims and I can only say to her that every time you go outside, maybe let
your relatives or friends join you walking or wandering in the town to avoid being
perverted by those low-minded people. When I asked her about what is the problem to her
friends, she said that some were bad influence. The answer is that, try not to let those
friends of yours to influence you in doing bad things because you know to yourself what’s
good and bad so maybe, you can also avoid being with those kinds of friends.
Christian Jonas Mangonon, a third-year student of Manaoag National High School,
was the last person I’ve interviewed and he said that his biggest problem in their house
was cleaning. I can only say that, you do not need to clean all the time if you know how to
settle things at your own. If you can arrange your things properly and orderly, cleaning is
not a problem, right? In school, homeworks were a problem for him. Well, homeworks

4. were a part of studying in school, so be responsible enough to do those assigned tasks to
finish studying successfully. In the community, dirts were another problem. By cleaning
and maintaining cleanliness inside your house, you can contribute a lot for your community
and maybe some people who can see you cleaning may also do that and in time, your
community will be clean also. About his friends, some were plastics he said. Well, that’s
very common. Some people are good to you when they need something from you. I can only
say that the change starts in you. Try to avoid being with those friends because in time, it
may cause bad influence in you.
