Why Did Diocletian Reform The Roman Empire
Diocletian understood that ruling over a major political entity like the Roman Empire was too difficult
for one ruler. This lead to the first major political reform of the Roman Empire. Diocletian s solution
to this problem was the tetrarchy. Diocletian divide the empire into 4 territories that were all ruled by a
separate leader. The tetrarchy was to help bring the empire back to the ways of the Good Emperors
where the succession of power was peaceful. Diocletian wanted the Emperors to select their
successors from the ranks of the nobles. After Diocletian s retirement in 305 CE, his hope for a
smooth transition of power quickly turned into complete chaos. Diocletian also tried to reform the
economy of the empire to provide it with stimulation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Visigoths were being forced into the empire the Huns and there leader Attila. The Visigoth
eventually settled in the areas of Spain and Gaul were they won the right to settle. Roman had been
importing slaves, servants, and soldiers into the empire. It wasn t until the population of the Visigoths
in the Empire increased that the peaceful arrangement ended. The Romans treated the Visigoth poorly
which led to the Visigoths rebelling against Valens at the Battle of Adrianople and defeating him.
When the defeat of Valens, the Romans allowed the barbicans to form settlements in the center of the
empire. The Vandals, within three decades, had gained control over northwest Africa and the majority
of the Mediterranean. The Burgundians came into the Empire right after the Vandals and settled in
Gaul. The Franks settle in north and central Gaul.
How did these tribes take over such a mighty empire so easily? The invaders were successful because
they came in rapid succession upon badly overextend Western empire divided politically by ambitious
military commanders and weakened by decades of famine pestilence and over taxation (KOTF 184).
The Romans tried to assimilate the barbarians in to their armies. This barbarizing of the army just lead
to a further weakening of the army. By the middle of the 5th century, the power of the Roman Empire

George Seurat Essay
Impressionism takes the moment at hand and depicts it with light and color. George Seurat was
influenced by Impressionism using modern subjects and urban leisure scenes. He used color
characterizing of Impressionism but also made arrangements based on color theory. Seurat wanted to
capture all the colors that interacted to make their own appearance which differed in thought to
Impressionism of putting colors next to each other to create colors that blended optically. Seurat
helped move Impressionism into Post Impressionism by developing a systematic structured way of
painting.
Seurat was influenced by Cheverul who figured color impose its own complementary on its neighbor.

The way the sun pours down on the people, the rest of the canvas basks in the sun whereas the
shadows are a darker green hue on the lighter green grass. The way the sun is portrayed, it looks as if
it s mid afternoon. Seurat s pointillism shows the light coming from the left onto the people and
objects. The trees show the special blending effects of the colors. To the left of the painting, the use of
white creates a light and as the eye moves to the right, it blends into the color of the greens of the
trees. Here, Seurat is placing white and green next to each other. The brushwork of the painting is
dotlike with the dots varying in size and shape. These individuals dots blend together into one scene.
The painting s perspective is to the left with the people all looking that way toward the river. The
people in the front of the painting are closer to the eye. The woman in the front and that man walking
with her are the biggest figures in the picture. These sizes help balance the artwork. Lines were mostly
avoided with the use of shading for a softer effect.
Seurat s painting is one of the most reproduced paintings. Initially, pointillism was not received well
as this new painting style was like nothing else and the general public did not receive it well. A
Sunday on La Grande Jatte was the first painting to be painted entirely in pointillism which changed
the way art was viewed from Impressionism to Post

The Communication Between Two Presynaptic Neurons
A synapse is a small space at the end of a neuron. The synapses purpose is to pass information from
one neuron to another. Synapses are composed of three parts; the presynaptic end that contains
neurotransmitters, the synaptic cleft between two nerve cells and the postsynaptic ending that contains
receptors.
The communication between neurons advances through a series of steps. First, the presynaptic neuron
delivers an action potential down its axon until it loses its myelin sheath and divides into many
branches called buttons or synaptic knobs. (Zillmer, 2008, p. 105) Between the two neurons is a space
called the synaptic cleft. This is the space where neurotransmitters are sent before being received by
the postsynaptic neuron.

Global Warming And The Current Energy Source
Problem with our current energy source Today, though renewable energy sources exist, fossil fuels are
still very prominent in supplying us with the everyday energy that we need. One of the biggest
problems our world suffers today is the mistreatment of our environment, as seen by global warming
and pollution which we face today. Though there are many factors influencing pollution, the following
reasons are the most energy focused and are considered by many as the largest causes of our
environmental problems: o Exhaust from Combustion Engines o The burning of coal and other fossil
fuels to produce energy o Petroleum, the major source of energy for vehicles Transportation related
green house emissions are currently the fastest increasing contributor to the green house effect. Earth s
natural green house gases is what keeps it warm, but the effect that causes global is caused to human s
affecting and accelerating the effect through the burning of fossil fuels, hence global warming .
However, this not only affects us, but also eco systems due to the increased occurring of forest fires,
thus adding to the list of problems with our environment. As well, acid rain can be caused by the
release of emissions from factories, vehicles, etc. In turn, once again affecting our eco system in a
negative manner. Out of fossil fuels, there is no positive effect that comes with our current mass
production of energy. Oil will theoretically never run out since we

towards people just because they are not known enough. But in my eyes, everyone within the hcf
community is an equal, and should be treated like one. This means giving second chances for
improvement or change if requested, banning a famous player even though I may get hate, or even just
moving people in teamspeak evenly, to be sure no one gets upset. I strive to provide the best playing

Loneliness In Catcher In The Rye
In the beginning of The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger brings up the motif of loneliness and depression
which Holden reveals to the reader while at Pencey Prep. For example while writing a essay for
Stradlater, he reflects on how after Allie, Holden s brother died, Holden slept in the garage, the night
he died and [he] broke all the god damn window. (39). This reaction to inflict pain on himself is
evidence that the loss triggered severe emotional disturbances. Holden isolates himself after a tragic
event proving Allie s death is the cause for his loneliness. Also, while alone in his dorm at Pencey
writing a composition for Stradlater his roommate, Holden couldn t think of a room or a house to

After Holden arrives in New York and takes a cab to his hotel, he damn near gave my kid sister
Phoebe a buzz, though. I certainly felt like talking to her on the phone. Somebody with sense and all,
(66). Holden wants to talk to Phoebe as he has been isolated from her and feels because she is
someone who he has a strong connection with, that she will make him less depressed shown by him
saying that she had sense. Also while Holden is in his hotel room in New York, after his prostitute
leaves, he felt depressed, then he began talking, sort of out loud, to Allie, (98). Allie s death made
Holden isolated form someone who was close to him. Him attempting to talk to Allie shows how his
loneliness and depression was caused by his isolation because he wants to try to reconnect with Allie
to end his loneliness. While on his way to a bar from the hotel, Holden describes New York as making
him feel lonesome and depressed and how he wished [he] could go home and shoot the bull with old
Phoebe, (81). Holden feels lonely and depressed in New York because of his isolation from Phoebe,
someone he loves. This is proved by how he describes that he wishes he could go home and talk with
her for a while. After getting to New York, Holden s feelings still follow him as he feels lonely and
depressed thinking about Phoebe and wanting to see

Summary Of The Diary Of Anne Frank
The Diary of Anne Frank, is a book of the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank
while she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.
The family was apprehended in 1944, and Anne Frank died of typhus in the Bergen Belsen
concentration camp in 1945. The diary was retrieved by Miep Gies, who gave it to Anne s father, Otto
Frank, the family s only known survivor, just after the war was over. The diary has since been
published in more than 60 languages. In August 1944, they were discovered and deported to Nazi
concentration camps. They were long thought to have been betrayed, although there are indications
that their discovery may have been accidental, that the police raid had actually targeted ration fraud
.Of the eight people, only Otto Frank survived the war. Anne died when she was 15 years old in
Bergen Belsen, from typhus. The exact date of her death is unknown, and has long been believed to be
in early March, a few weeks before the prisoners were liberated by British troops in April 1945.
However, new research in 2015 indicated that Anne may have died in February. Anne Frank was a
young Jewish girl who lived and died during the Holocaust. The Frank family hid from the Nazis for
two long years in a Secret Annex at the back of a warehouse. During that time, Anne kept a diary in
which she not only wrote about the horrors of war but the everyday problems of being a teenager.

Navajo Peacemaking

Throughout Indian Country tribes have their own courts to address legal matters. However, the Navajo
Nation has a court system that stands apart from other tribes. Howard L. Brown Esq. wrote, The
Navajo Nation s Peacemaker Division: An Integrated Community Based Dispute Resolution Forum
which was published in the American Indian Law Review 1999 2000 issue and was reprinted in the
May/July 2002 issue of Dispute Resolution Journal. As a former judicial law clerk for the Supreme
Court of the Navajo Nation, Brown gained firsthand experience with the Peacemaker Division within

violated tradition and failed to fulfill the expectation of their role as a family or community member
and how it has impacted them. Brown s description of the peacemaking process is similar to Pinto s
which is illustrated via a table comparing three model s of dispute resolution. The table clearly shows
the importance of Navajo tradition in peacemaking and how it is reflected in each step of the process
via a healing ceremony and focusing on restoring harmony to the community.[8] Pinto also includes
three pages detailing the seven steps and components of the peacemaking process. The outline format
makes the process easy to understand and reinforces many points brought up by the other two authors.
Meyer describes the peacemaking process in terms similar to Brown and Pintos, but compares the
Navajo process to other tribal resolution methods. Using the Ojibwe example of cleansing the spirits

Comparing Influences
Comparing Influences: Faulkner and Plath
In the poem Daddy by Sylvia Plath tells about a woman suffering because of the pain inflicted by her
father. The story is narrated in first person point of view by the author using aggressive tone to
describe the antagonist of the play in the narrator s thoughts. In relation to the poem, William Faulkner
s A Rose For Emily tells a story of a woman who used to be a bright young girl, but has become a
symbol of decay and a obsolete object that is a part of history. The story is told from a third person
point of view and talks about the grievances Miss Emily had to withstand from her father s death.
Both the poem and the short story tell of a woman who had a fatherly figure that acted as an
antagonist throughout the story, but both women were influenced in a different way. Though Daddy ...

In the poem Daddy , the narrator quotes that her father was a Nazi Fascist who would mistreat Jews
the same way he mistreated her. The evidence shown by the father indicates that the narrator was
mistreated when she says The boot in the face, the brute Brute heart of a brute like you (Plath, 10).
Because of her father s mistreatment, the narrator was influenced to commit suicide. In A Rose For
Emily , her father has influenced Emily by not providing self sufficiency to Emily making her co
dependent on her father so when she became older, she could not keep healthy relationships or have
developed good communication skills which ultimately led to her insanity. Examples of Miss Emily s
dependence and insanity is shown when she would continuously say that her father is not dead to the
doctors and saying that they should not dispose of the body (Faulkner, 19). In both pieces of literature,
the masculine figure in the family has influenced the characters in a way to make their life miserable

The following essay is on two films, Yojimbo (1961) directed by Akira Kurosawa A Fistful Of Dollars
(1967) directed by Sergio Leone. The film Yojimbo was plagiarized by Sergio Leone when he made A
Fistful Of Dollars and Kurosawa sued for royalties.
A Fistful Of Dollars is a 1964 spaghetti western film directed by Sergio Leone starring Clint

The premise behind A Fistful Of Dollars is a cowboy arrives at a Mexican town and immediately is

also the likelihood that it needs to appeal to its current audience, hence, American s Versus the

What Were The Causes And Effects Of The South African War
The South African war was fought between the Boers and the British, from October 12 1899 to May
31 1902. At the time South Africa was a British colony and the Boer s hostility towards them grew as
the British started to push the Boers towards a less fertile area of land. At first it was minor fighting
and conflict but soon thereafter it evolved into a full scale war. The Boers were tremendously
outnumbered and the British had a clear advantage with numbers and power, however, the British
were seen to be overconfident and underestimating the Boers. The Boer s failure to surrender to the
British lead to the British introducing the death camps, playing on the morale of the Boers, and in turn
the hardships of their people lead to the Boer s surrender. After the horrific war it gave opportunity to
the Boers to unite, which they did and the birth of Afrikaans nationalism.
The Boers were well prepared and struck the British hard, winning a few important battles during
early stages of the war. The British brought in large numbers of soldiers and fought back, by 1900 the
country had been annexed and the war considered over, however the Boers refused to surrender and

A Brief Note On Summative Assessment Of Unions
Summative Assessment of Unions Thesis statement For workers to create a viable union that will
represent their wishes in the best way possible, it s best they organize and lead the campaign
themselves. Introduction It is a common belief that the best organizers are the workers in a given
organization. It is emphasized that at every stage of organizing process, there should be active
participation of the workers who are seeking representation (Bronfenbrenner, 2013). It is very
essential to getting the contract that they deserve other than just winning an election. As the person

It is recommended that the number of the employees in a committee should be around 10. How do you
build majority support? After forming a committee, you need to build support for the union by talking
to other employees. This begins the public phase of your campaign. The best way to build support is
by getting the workers to sign a public petition that supports the unions key issue and goals. Most
employers will, on the other hand, launch their camping against the union at this point. How do you
choose to go union? It largely depends on where you and your co workers work. If it s private
organization, workers, make a choice through elections that are overseen by the National Labor
Relations Board. In a public sector, you can make a union either through majority sign up or a
tradition union election. What about the employer s campaign? Employers will use different
techniques as a way of preventing the union. Some techniques used are creating conflict between the
workers so as to divide the union support and to create an atmosphere of fear. The union I would
choose to help us organize and why There are so many unions that can help use, but the one that I will
go for is the CWA. When we successfully organize and get CWA representation, we will get a real
voice at workplace and job. The following are some of the benefits of joining CWA (Markowitz,

The Development Of The Autonomous Vehicle
The autonomous vehicle is a vehicle that can drive itself without having human input. These vehicles
are programmed with complex algorithms to mimic human behavior, but also operate on a level of
consistency that humans have a hard time replicating. As we move into a new era of transportation,
automotive vehicles are going to help change the way society operates. Why change a system that we
have been using for over one hundred years? In the automobiles of today, we have to get in and
manually give the car inputs. Since human error is natural, a lot can go wrong when you are moving a

One vital way in which autonomous vehicles will dramatically alter society is that they will have a
tremendous impact on police forces around the world, potentially cutting the need for them in half.
Much of the day to day work for police and law enforcement is to enforce traffic rules and responding
to accidents. Having autonomous vehicles would mean fewer police would be needed for these tasks.
According to McKinsey, their projects are trying to promote that in the future, autonomous vehicles
will free up huge amounts of parking space, reduce auto accidents and allow people to have more time
to enjoy TV shows, movies and digital media. Inside of the autonomous vehicles, the interiors will
become more like living rooms, allowing people to get more sleep while they are on their way to
work. Autonomous vehicles will allow to open up new business models and self employment
opportunities. Since we will not be required to operate the vehicles, our time in front of a computer
screen will increase. People will view thirty to forty percent more ads as commutes will become the
preferred space to work. This whole drastic change from us controlling the vehicle to a full
autonomous vehicle will change today s forms of transportation and completely boost mobility by
allowing people, including the young, old, and disabled, to get around without having to walk, without
having to know how to drive, and without having to wait for a bus or train. Operating without a driver

Women s Precarity Analysis
Consequences of Women s Precarity
The systemic, cyclical nature of precarity for women in the labour market as described above creates
significant negative consequences for individuals, families, and society. Though the consequences are
numerous, a handful are presented here for illustrative purposes of how endemic this issue is.
Low wages/income are an earmark of non standard/secondary market work. Women (along with youth
and people with lower levels of education) are most likely to be working for minimum wage
(primarily in service sector jobs) (Galarneau Fecteau, 2016). Lack of a living wage for secondary
labour market jobs factors into the precarity model and economically disadvantages women/families.
The economic inequality of women s precarity contributes to an even greater issue, their social
inequality. The labour market and neoliberalism, in conjunction with economic austerity and an
extreme decrease in social welfare initiatives (all factors in precarity), contribute to the social
exclusion of women in Canada. Social exclusion the division between the haves and the have nots is
spawned from the barriers ( socioeconomic disparities ) that prevent individuals or groups full

The Witches Of Salem Witch Trials
Joey Kimbro October 11, 2017 Honors English 3 Mrs. Tammen Salem Witchcraft Trial Theories In the
1690s The afflicted girls [whom] made the accusations were some of the most powerless members of
their society ( Part II: The Witches of Salem ). Salem Witch Trials quickly became famous and
researchers began exploring the multiple possibilities behind the trials. Although many theories were
considered, none could explain why so many were accused and hanged. Notably, ergot poisoning was
a highly considered theory for the Salem trials. Farming conditions in the western part of Salem
Village, Putnam farmland, were warm, damp, and swampy, the perfect environment for fungus to
grow. The poison from ergot would grow in rye and cereal grains. ... Show more content on

Evidence points out, ...one of the afflicted girls [was a doctor s servant], and probably [had eaten]
Putnam grain, since the doctor had no grain of his own; the Putnams [had] a huge amount of farmland,
so many people [received] the Putnam grain (Nekrosius s Students). Ergot seems to be reasonable,
especially since the Putnam s farmland made up the vast majority of Salem Village. At one point,
ergot could isolate and infiltrate the crop, then by the next year, there would be no sign of ergot. To
identify whether the crop is infested or not, the rye would spew out yellow colored mucus, but no one
in Salem had any knowledge on the poison. Evidently, ergot poisoning also explains the sudden end to
the trials. In 1692, a year after the trials began, there was a drought, so many crops were not able to
grow and ergot poison could not spread. However, ergot poisoning was not the only theory suggested.
Chiefly, encephalitis was considered to be another theory that explained the Salem trials. Encephalitis
left people in coma like trances and even dead. Symptoms included inflammation of the brain,
headaches, fever, confusion, seizures, loss of hearing, and no control over eye muscles. Carlson

The Self Standards Model Of Dissonance
The self standards model of dissonance seeks to bring together a groups of prior explanations for the
phenonon of cognitive dissonce. Describe Stone and Cooper s model of cognitive dissonance and

standards model as an explanttion of dissonance. Disscuss the way in which we could use the self

Third, that majority of people will be motivated to reduce dissonance though self justification and

attitudes towards Global Warming.
The Self Standard Model
The SSM seeks to bring together prior explanations for the phenomenon on cognitive dissonance. The
SSM attempts to integrate the various perspectives by first recognizing the assessment of behaviour is
flexible and influenced by the behavioural environment (Stone, 2003). The SSM was proposed to
synthesize the major contemporary cognitive dissonance theories proposed around the assumption that
the role of the self in arousal and reduction is a function of self attribution, made assessable through
discrepant behaviour (Stone Cooper, 2001). The SSM provides that self esteem motivates individuals
to uphold normative standards of behaviour. Applying SSM provides a comprehensive model of how
and why cognitions about the self influence the dissonance process (Stone Cooper, 2001).
The first element of SSM assumes that self attributions operate as expectancy, causing more
dissonance in those with higher self esteem (Stone Cooper, 2001). It is emphasised in the SSM that

The Joint Commission focuses on certain goals each year. For patient safety and positive outcomes,
hospitals are required to follow certain standards. National Patient Safety Goals were established in

The Mall Of New Jersey
This first time I remember walking through the mall in New Jersey I was a little girl holding my
mother s hand. This mall is a dismal place, with one level and one major department store on each
end. The elongated brown brick walls made me feel like I am walking into a dungeon, into the land of
the abyss. It was not a joyous place for a child to visit. On one occasion, my mother brought me an ice
cream cone and with one lick it was on the floor. I never saw my mother so mad before; she picked up
the ice cream and demanded I receive another one. Little did I know that this dark dreary space was

it was too far and second we had a downtown to shop. While I was away at school they remodeled the
mall and expanded the space into a mega palace to include four levels of bright lights, white walls,
shining floors, glass elevator and a skylight. The mall added a movie theater, bookstore, hair salons,
restaurants, food court, computer stores, post office, and fitness center, just to name a few minor
changes. I was speechless, walking around the same mall as I did as a child with amazing like Charlie

David being a skeptic doubted a lot of concepts, one of these concepts was the concept of personal
identity. Hume believed that there is no such thing as a personal identity that resembles the core of

bundles of different properties and perceptions, and it is impossible to picture someone without these
properties, same way it is impossible to picture the sun without light. Hume argues that the reason
why most people believe that personal identity is unchangeable is the misinterpretation of self
awareness, Hume believes that humans could never be truly aware of themselves, but through
experience using their senses and imagination they might think that they are truly aware of
themselves, but they are only aware of their surroundings. Therefore, it would be sound to conclude

Principle of Management
Introduction
My business club intends to hold a debate competition at the end of the month. I am been selected and
the title has given as, Managers today should use the democratic style of leadership rather than
automatic style.
Before I start this title, I decide to determine both of the style.
Democratic Style
Democratic style is a platform to create a team to participate in the decision making process. When an
enterprise is making decision, they usually use democratic style in many parts of the business.
Therefore, everyone has the opportunity to dedicate ideas to the decision. There are two types of
democratic decision making: 1) Persuasive Democratic Management

This management style is mainly exists in the enterprises.
As a business the main goal as a whole should be to gain a profit. Democratic leadership can produce
high quality and high quantity work for long periods of time. When using this management style, there
is one people making the decision and there is no confusion when during the conception. This also
leads to decisions being made more effective and more efficiency. Employees will love this
management style in business because they feel involved and a part of the process. Their performance
may be rather than in an authoritarian setting, while give them the power to do the work could lead to
some rely on other to bear the brunt of the work on the project. Also, it depending on what type of
work, employees may feel like the work is being pushed down on them because as a manager you don
t want to do it. Furthermore, when employees are making decisions, this can improve their sense of
worth, self esteem and motivates them to perform better. Decision making process may create
advantages such as diverse input, the establishment of emotional attachment with the extra effort of
employees. This style of leadership is ideal for a leader who hopes to make employees understand the
problem that may affect them, and who want the staffs involve in problem solving and decision
making.
Democratic leadership works well for leaders who have the ability of flexibility and adaptation.

Disadvantages Of Citizen Journalism
Introduction
In the end, the discipline of verification is what separates journalism from entertainment, propaganda,
fiction, or art.... Journalism alone is focused first on getting what happened down right. The
willingness of the journalist to be transparent about what he/she has done is at the heart of establishing
that the journalist is concerned with the truth. (Kovach, Rosenstiel 2001)
As is it a journalist s responsibility, obligation and duty to the public to tell the truth, carrying out
thorough and accurate research is a vital part for construction of news stories. Reporting credible news
will develop public trust.
Without this confidence, journalists would be unable to carry out their jobs justly and democracy will
be compromised.
Why credible research?
Accuracy must be our journalistic grail. (McLellan, 2001)
Why do journalists need to carefully research possible news stories before publishing them? Is it
important to ensure its authenticity and accuracy? The public will consume information provided in
stories. If there are pieces of poorly researched news, it could potentially cause detrimental outcomes
such as losing one s job, embarrassment, a tarnished reputation (not only for the journalist but also for

this sacrament part of the Mysterion?, a brief history of the rite, what are the essential elements and

The liturgical celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation of one penitent is one of the seven
sacraments of the Catholic Church. It is a part of the Churches mysterion, as it is a sacrament
instituted by Jesus Christ in which an individual confesses their sins made after their initial cleansing
in the Sacrament of Baptism and is given forgiveness by a priest which has been given ... Show more

Through this influence, the idea of a once only confession was also challenged. The Council of Trent
in 1551 supported this method of reconciliation by pushing the idea of individual penance to the
forefront of Christian practice. Through this, the idea of reconciliation was given greater importance to
the individual as well as the community as the focus became shifted from the forgiveness of sins to a
renewed sense of rebuilding ones relationship with God. This is the same conclusion reached by the
Vatican II in 1964 and is still predominant in Christian practice today.
While it is evident that the sacrament of reconciliation has changed over time, the underlying
meanings and core intentions behind the practice remain the same. That is, Christians who have sinned
are given a path to which they can be forgiven for their sins in order reconcile their relationship with
God and the Church. Through this, each element of the sacrament of penance is given importance, as
they directly correlate to the core beliefs behind the development of the sacrament. The three
predominant parts of the sacrament of reconciliation include the contrition, confession and the act of
penance.
The contrition is arguably the most important component as it is the initial commitment made by the
penitent to commit to their beliefs under the eyes of God and vow not only to reveal all of their secrets
to the priest,

Orson Welles career took place in the mid thirties to late eighties in the twentieth century. He began
his career at age fifteen, starting in Ireland, making his acting debut in the Gate Theater in Dublin. By
eighteen, Welles started to appear in off Broadway productions. It was then that he also launched his
radio career. By age twenty, he had presented alternate interpretations of certain well known plays and
movies. At age twenty two he was the most notable Broadway star from Mercury Theater and, because
of this, BBC radio gave him an hour each week to broadcast whatever he pleased. That s when, at age

His Mercury Theater of the Air also set high and new standards for future radio drama productions.
His directing philosophy was that his way was the best way. Welles work was solely self reliant and
dependent on his representation of guise. This style/philosophy contributed to the way modern artists
presently direct their films and movies. He began his most notable movie, Citizen Kane, with multiple
test shots and killed his own character by using a very low angle, as if the viewer was right there,
dead, with his character. Welles loved to introduce his films by starting with mysterious, bleak worlds.
His main goal was to show future directors that deeply focused camera shots, shadows, askew angles,
multiple action points, sound techniques borrowed from radio, and deeply focused shots worked in the
favor of the production.
Orson Welles didn t just impact the filming realm, but, by being an actor himself, showed that he
possessed a very strong standpoint on what an ideal actor was. Orson said that, to him, acting was like
a sculpture. It s what you take away from yourself to reveal the truth of what you re doing that makes
a performance. A performance deserves to be considered great or important. It s always entirely made
up of the actor itself and entirely achieved by what he has left in the dressing room before he came

Corruption Of The Clergy In The Canterbury Tales By...
Geoffrey Chaucer is often referred to as the father of English literature. Chaucer s work, The
Canterbury Tales, was the first major literary work done in the English. Chaucer expresses his feelings
on the corruption of the church clergy in the General Prologue through the characters such as the
Pardoner, the Prioress, and the Friar. These characters express many of the different misgivings of the
clergy in that period. The Pardoner is described to be quite the physically unattractive man, but that is
just the start. He is even uglier on the inside than he is on the outside. The Pardoner scams hard
working people out of their money by selling false relics. He advertises pig s bones as the remains of
saints, he uses a pillowcase as the veil of Mary and a sheet as the sail of Peter. The Pardoner tells the
pilgrims that he is only preaching to make money, not for the love of god. Chaucer s Pardoner
character is supposed to represent the greed and dishonesty within the clergy. The Pardoner is a man
of greed like much of the clergy in Chaucer s time. Chaucer feels like the clergy has money on their
mind more than they have God and the flock on their mind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

charitably solicitous she used to weep if she but saw a mouse caught in a trap, if it were dead or
bleeding. (Chaucer 147 149). The Prioress cares more for her little dog than for the people she is
supposed to be preaching to. Chaucer uses the Prioress s character to represent the vanity present in
most clergy, they were more concerned with their

Frog Dissection In Elementary Schools
Well we dissected frogs, in the United States, dissection of frogs became common in college biology
classes from the 1920s, and were gradually introduced at earlier stages of education. By 1988, some
75 to 80 percent of American high school biology students were participating in a frog dissection, with
a trend towards introduction in elementary schools. The frogs are most commonly from the genus
Rana. I learned that it s really gross on how we see frogs insides Other popular animals for high
school dissection at the time of that survey were, among vertebrates, fetal pigs, perch, and cats; and
among invertebrates, earthworms, grasshoppers, crayfish, and starfish. About six million animals are
(2016) dissected each year in United States high

for a long time because of his frail physique. Some have also sounded an alert about his continuation
on the show leading to speculations that he might leave but it does not look like this is going to
happen. Ever since a frail Mark Harmon appeared on Season 14 of NCIS, fans have been worried

Bartleby, The Scrivener, By Herman Melville
In short, Herman Melville s story Bartleby, the scrivener , tells the tale of a successful lawyer hiring a
new copyist and the challenges he faced with his new hire. Initially, the new hire, Bartleby, was
extremely driven and very efficient. He had a great work ethic, and had an extraordinary output of
writing for the head lawyer. On the third day Bartleby stunned his boss by preferring not to comply
with his boss s request. Bartleby s refusal to comply was at first directed at anything outside of his
copyist responsibilities, but gradually shifted toward refusing to do anything including his
responsibilities as a copyist. Upon further analysis into Bartleby s descent from a productive scrivener,
to utterly useless in the office. I have found a connection between the people that isolate others
because of differences, and the people that choose to stray away from normal behavior . This impacts
the isolated person, people are negatively impacted when they live in isolation and have little personal
and emotional connection with others. Without any emotional connection or contact with others,
humans lose their purpose in life, or become useless like in Bartleby in the office. Refusing to do any
work did not deter Bartleby from the office. In fact, he used the office for everything in his life such as
sleep, shaving, eating and spending all of his time. Bartleby lived in the office in complete isolation
from anyone else in the world besides his coworkers. With seemingly no

My Annual Salary For Five Years
The hospital would allow me to have a deferred sabbatical leave and I would receive eighty percent of
my annual salary for five years. Daniel did not have a job offer because there was no available
position in the whole province of Quebec. We would have to wait for an opening while we were in
California. We were not too much concerned about the fact that he did not have a job opportunity in
Quebec because we were very busy with the wedding, selling our condo and moving all our
belongings to Los Angeles. We were just trying to do one thing at the time so we would not be
overwhelmed. It was now the time for us to enjoy our trip to our new home for the year. Our Los
Angeles condo was rather small. It contained a bedroom, a narrow bathroom, a kitchen and a shared
dining/living room. It was recently renovated and everything was in the white and grey tones. The
kitchen had a white and grey granite counter top with stainless steel appliances and all the cabinets
were painted in white. The floor was the only thing that brought character to the place as it was made
of stained dark oak wood. The only closet was so tiny that I tried pushing on the walls hoping it was
hiding a secret space. I already got rid of half of my clothes just before leaving and now I was about to
get rid of the other half. I could not believe how much we were paying for renting such a small
apartment. It was cozy but too pricy for its size. At least our front door led to a beautiful garden that
had a fountain

Commodity In The Music Industry
Commodity is a word that is becoming increasingly associated with the music industry, as women are
pressured to put out a sexual image. Commodification in the music industry and society has been
present for many years. However this ubiquitous injustice has only been highlighted more recently,
due to more people speaking out about how wrong it is. I have chosen to write about this topic as I
believe is it relevant to today s society of gender equality. My topic explores all the ideas surrounding
my hypothesis of To what extent has the Female body been commodified in the music industry, from
the 1970 s to present day? Through the use of a questionnaire, my research and history timeline, I aim
to link the environment of the music industry to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clark (2000) Women, Gender, and Religion, talks about how the Ancient Greeks believe men and
women were two different species. Men are the superior and women are the inferior. Clark says {
Greek medical writers differ in their ideas about male and female bodies. The Hippocratic school
presented men and women as separate species (what we might call a two sex model), whereas
Aristotle considered women to be, Imperfect or defective men in what has been termed a one sex
model. Women lacked the firm control of bodily boundaries that men had. Women changed shape
during pregnancy, and they leaked: blood, tears, and emotion. Since woman does not bound herself,
she must be bounded. This is achieved by organization of her space, prescription of her gestures,
ordering of her rituals, imposition of headgear, attendants, and other trappings. } This describes
women as a completely different and weak species, which have no control over who they are. They
are fragmented beings. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, believed that the way to bound the female
species was by trapping

Domination Prevention. Thus Far, It Seems As Though There
Domination Prevention Thus far, it seems as though there is no possible way for the human race to
win in any kind of situation against Artificial Intelligence. It will be more intelligence, faster, and with
the right kind of body , it may decide to take the form of, it may also be stronger than us. It is true that
in the race to word domination, AI has a head start, even a running start; but, there are ways to slow it
down. No one knows for sure if AI will become bad and want to make the human race its slaves, but
there s no harm in taking every precaution necessary. How will AI hurt us? A user will knowingly
unknowingly give almost all their information to some kind of smart technology; whether it s a credit
card number, their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Could NSA get ahold of this always listening function? Will what we say in everyday life come back
to hurt us when super AI is created and they come for revenge ? One might think humankind should
just stop furthering any type of technology that is currently being created, what for, humans already
know AI will rule the population. While the latter is true, as Sam Harrison, a neuroscientist focusing
on the change in the world and how this changes human s ways of thinking, states we won t stop
updating our technology . How will the human species evolve if technology stops getting smarter?
Users want smarts phones, smarter televisions, smarter cars; the risk has always been there, but
consumer s demands must be meet by scientists who like money. AI will hurt the human population
when least expected. This is why signs and precautions must be figured out before they actually
happen. Anthropomorphize Typically, when individuals think of AI their thought process goes to such
characters as Skynet from the Terminator, IRobot, or even Ultron from the Avengers. What all these
characters had in common, was they had a recognizable face, to an extent, and most importantly, they
had a name. Humans tend to give a name to most things significant in their lives; pets, cars, and even
storms. Hurricanes, for example, the name gives no indication as to how strong or weak it is, naming
has no effect on anything, but people still do it anyways. As

  • 2. Why Did Diocletian Reform The Roman Empire Diocletian understood that ruling over a major political entity like the Roman Empire was too difficult for one ruler. This lead to the first major political reform of the Roman Empire. Diocletian s solution to this problem was the tetrarchy. Diocletian divide the empire into 4 territories that were all ruled by a separate leader. The tetrarchy was to help bring the empire back to the ways of the Good Emperors where the succession of power was peaceful. Diocletian wanted the Emperors to select their successors from the ranks of the nobles. After Diocletian s retirement in 305 CE, his hope for a smooth transition of power quickly turned into complete chaos. The trees show the special blending effects of the colors. To the left of the painting, the use of white creates a light and as the eye moves to the right, it blends into the color of the greens of the trees. The painting s perspective is to the left with the people all looking that way toward the river. The people in the front of the painting are closer to the eye. The woman in the front and that man walking with her are the biggest figures in the picture. These sizes help balance the artwork. Lines were mostly avoided with the use of shading for a softer effect. Seurat s painting is one of the most reproduced paintings. Synapses are composed of three parts; the presynaptic end that contains neurotransmitters, the synaptic cleft between two nerve cells and the postsynaptic ending that contains receptors. The communication between neurons advances through a series of steps. First, the presynaptic neuron delivers an action potential down its axon until it loses its myelin sheath and divides into many branches called buttons or synaptic knobs. Global Warming And The Current Energy Source Problem with our current energy source Today, though renewable energy sources exist, fossil fuels are still very prominent in supplying us with the everyday energy that we need. One of the biggest problems our world suffers today is the mistreatment of our environment, as seen by global warming and pollution which we face today. The family was apprehended in 1944, and Anne Frank died of typhus in the Bergen Belsen concentration camp in 1945. The diary was retrieved by Miep Gies, who gave it to Anne s father, Otto Frank, the family s only known survivor, just after the war was over. The diary has since been published in more than 60 languages. In August 1944, they were discovered and deported to Nazi concentration camps. Anne died when she was 15 years old in Bergen Belsen, from typhus. The exact date of her death is unknown, and has long been believed to be in early March, a few weeks before the prisoners were liberated by British troops in April 1945. However, new research in 2015 indicated that Anne may have died in February. Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who lived and died during the Holocaust. Women s Precarity Analysis Consequences of Women s Precarity The systemic, cyclical nature of precarity for women in the labour market as described above creates significant negative consequences for individuals, families, and society. Though the consequences are numerous, a handful are presented here for illustrative purposes of how endemic this issue is. Low wages/income are an earmark of non standard/secondary market work. Women (along with youth and people with lower levels of education) are most likely to be working for minimum wage (primarily in service sector jobs) (Galarneau Fecteau, 2016). Lack of a living wage for secondary labour market jobs factors into the precarity model and economically disadvantages women/families. The economic inequality of women s precarity contributes to an even greater issue, their social inequality. The labour market and neoliberalism, in conjunction with economic austerity and an extreme decrease in social welfare initiatives (all factors in precarity), contribute to the social exclusion of women in Canada. • 21. The Witches Of Salem Witch Trials Joey Kimbro October 11, 2017 Honors English 3 Mrs. Tammen Salem Witchcraft Trial Theories In the 1690s The afflicted girls [whom] made the accusations were some of the most powerless members of their society ( Part II: The Witches of Salem ). Salem Witch Trials quickly became famous and researchers began exploring the multiple possibilities behind the trials. Although many theories were considered, none could explain why so many were accused and hanged. Notably, ergot poisoning was a highly considered theory for the Salem trials. Farming conditions in the western part of Salem Village, Putnam farmland, were warm, damp, and swampy, the perfect environment for fungus to grow. The poison from ergot would grow in rye and cereal grains. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence points out, ...one of the afflicted girls [was a doctor s servant], and probably [had eaten] Putnam grain, since the doctor had no grain of his own; the Putnams [had] a huge amount of farmland, so many people [received] the Putnam grain (Nekrosius s Students). Ergot seems to be reasonable, especially since the Putnam s farmland made up the vast majority of Salem Village. At one point, ergot could isolate and infiltrate the crop, then by the next year, there would be no sign of ergot. To identify whether the crop is infested or not, the rye would spew out yellow colored mucus, but no one in Salem had any knowledge on the poison. Evidently, ergot poisoning also explains the sudden end to the trials. In 1692, a year after the trials began, there was a drought, so many crops were not able to grow and ergot poison could not spread. However, ergot poisoning was not the only theory suggested. Chiefly, encephalitis was considered to be another theory that explained the Salem trials. Encephalitis left people in coma like trances and even dead. Symptoms included inflammation of the brain, headaches, fever, confusion, seizures, loss of hearing, and no control over eye muscles. Carlson provides with, In 1916 physicians in Europe began to report puzzling symptoms in patients: convulsions, hyperactivity interspersed with periods of catatonic stupor, and severe eye muscle disorders (Mixon). The SSM provides that self esteem motivates individuals to uphold normative standards of behaviour. The Council of Trent in 1551 supported this method of reconciliation by pushing the idea of individual penance to the forefront of Christian practice. Through this, the idea of reconciliation was given greater importance to the individual as well as the community as the focus became shifted from the forgiveness of sins to a renewed sense of rebuilding ones relationship with God. This is the same conclusion reached by the Vatican II in 1964 and is still predominant in Christian practice today. While it is evident that the sacrament of reconciliation has changed over time, the underlying meanings and core intentions behind the practice remain the same. That is, Christians who have sinned are given a path to which they can be forgiven for their sins in order reconcile their relationship with God and the Church. Chaucer s work, The Canterbury Tales, was the first major literary work done in the English. Chaucer expresses his feelings on the corruption of the church clergy in the General Prologue through the characters such as the Pardoner, the Prioress, and the Friar. These characters express many of the different misgivings of the clergy in that period. The Pardoner is described to be quite the physically unattractive man, but that is just the start. He is even uglier on the inside than he is on the outside. The Pardoner scams hard working people out of their money by selling false relics. He advertises pig s bones as the remains of saints, he uses a pillowcase as the veil of Mary and a sheet as the sail of Peter. The Pardoner tells the pilgrims that he is only preaching to make money, not for the love of god. Chaucer s Pardoner character is supposed to represent the greed and dishonesty within the clergy. • 42. Bartleby, The Scrivener, By Herman Melville In short, Herman Melville s story Bartleby, the scrivener , tells the tale of a successful lawyer hiring a new copyist and the challenges he faced with his new hire. Initially, the new hire, Bartleby, was extremely driven and very efficient. He had a great work ethic, and had an extraordinary output of writing for the head lawyer. On the third day Bartleby stunned his boss by preferring not to comply with his boss s request. Bartleby s refusal to comply was at first directed at anything outside of his copyist responsibilities, but gradually shifted toward refusing to do anything including his responsibilities as a copyist. Upon further analysis into Bartleby s descent from a productive scrivener, to utterly useless in the office. I have found a connection between the people that isolate others because of differences, and the people that choose to stray away from normal behavior . This impacts the isolated person, people are negatively impacted when they live in isolation and have little personal and emotional connection with others. Without any emotional connection or contact with others, humans lose their purpose in life, or become useless like in Bartleby in the office. Refusing to do any work did not deter Bartleby from the office. In fact, he used the office for everything in his life such as sleep, shaving, eating and spending all of his time. Bartleby lived in the office in complete isolation from anyone else in the world besides his coworkers. With seemingly no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. My Annual Salary For Five Years The hospital would allow me to have a deferred sabbatical leave and I would receive eighty percent of my annual salary for five years. Daniel did not have a job offer because there was no available position in the whole province of Quebec. We would have to wait for an opening while we were in California. We were not too much concerned about the fact that he did not have a job opportunity in Quebec because we were very busy with the wedding, selling our condo and moving all our belongings to Los Angeles. We were just trying to do one thing at the time so we would not be overwhelmed. It was now the time for us to enjoy our trip to our new home for the year. Our Los Angeles condo was rather small. It contained a bedroom, a narrow bathroom, a kitchen and a shared dining/living room. It was recently renovated and everything was in the white and grey tones. The kitchen had a white and grey granite counter top with stainless steel appliances and all the cabinets were painted in white. The floor was the only thing that brought character to the place as it was made of stained dark oak wood. The only closet was so tiny that I tried pushing on the walls hoping it was hiding a secret space. I already got rid of half of my clothes just before leaving and now I was about to get rid of the other half. I could not believe how much we were paying for renting such a small apartment. It was cozy but too pricy for its size. At least our front door led to a beautiful garden that had a fountain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Commodity In The Music Industry Commodity is a word that is becoming increasingly associated with the music industry, as women are pressured to put out a sexual image. Commodification in the music industry and society has been present for many years. However this ubiquitous injustice has only been highlighted more recently, due to more people speaking out about how wrong it is. I have chosen to write about this topic as I believe is it relevant to today s society of gender equality. My topic explores all the ideas surrounding my hypothesis of To what extent has the Female body been commodified in the music industry, from the 1970 s to present day? Through the use of a questionnaire, my research and history timeline, I aim to link the environment of the music industry to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clark (2000) Women, Gender, and Religion, talks about how the Ancient Greeks believe men and women were two different species. Men are the superior and women are the inferior. Clark says { Greek medical writers differ in their ideas about male and female bodies. The Hippocratic school presented men and women as separate species (what we might call a two sex model), whereas Aristotle considered women to be, Imperfect or defective men in what has been termed a one sex model. Women lacked the firm control of bodily boundaries that men had. Women changed shape during pregnancy, and they leaked: blood, tears, and emotion. Since woman does not bound herself, she must be bounded. This is achieved by organization of her space, prescription of her gestures, ordering of her rituals, imposition of headgear, attendants, and other trappings. } This describes women as a completely different and weak species, which have no control over who they are. They are fragmented beings. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, believed that the way to bound the female species was by trapping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Domination Prevention. Thus Far, It Seems As Though There Domination Prevention Thus far, it seems as though there is no possible way for the human race to win in any kind of situation against Artificial Intelligence. It will be more intelligence, faster, and with the right kind of body , it may decide to take the form of, it may also be stronger than us. It is true that in the race to word domination, AI has a head start, even a running start; but, there are ways to slow it down. No one knows for sure if AI will become bad and want to make the human race its slaves, but there s no harm in taking every precaution necessary. How will AI hurt us? A user will knowingly unknowingly give almost all their information to some kind of smart technology; whether it s a credit card number, their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Could NSA get ahold of this always listening function? Will what we say in everyday life come back to hurt us when super AI is created and they come for revenge ? One might think humankind should just stop furthering any type of technology that is currently being created, what for, humans already know AI will rule the population. While the latter is true, as Sam Harrison, a neuroscientist focusing on the change in the world and how this changes human s ways of thinking, states we won t stop updating our technology . How will the human species evolve if technology stops getting smarter? Users want smarts phones, smarter televisions, smarter cars; the risk has always been there, but consumer s demands must be meet by scientists who like money. AI will hurt the human population when least expected. This is why signs and precautions must be figured out before they actually happen. Anthropomorphize Typically, when individuals think of AI their thought process goes to such characters as Skynet from the Terminator, IRobot, or even Ultron from the Avengers. What all these characters had in common, was they had a recognizable face, to an extent, and most importantly, they had a name. Humans tend to give a name to most things significant in their lives; pets, cars, and even storms. Hurricanes, for example, the name gives no indication as to how strong or weak it is, naming has no effect on anything, but people still do it anyways. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
