Life In Missoula, Montana
Life in Reno, Nevada vs. LIfe in Missoula, Montana I have been living in Reno for my entire life. I ve
grown accustomed to everything it has to offer, and I am comfortable in Reno. But in June, when my
life switches from suburban life to a lush, green, 20 acre property, I am going to notice that Reno and
Missoula have similarities, but my life will be very, very different. Let s start with the size of the
towns. In Reno, the population is 245,255 people and counting. Reno is 106 square miles, giving it a
population density of 2,313 people per square mile. In Missoula, on the other hand, has 72,364 people.

In Reno, I see sagebrush as far as the eye can see. Blue mountains in some of the background, brown
mountains in other parts. The weather is incredibly unpredictable, but I usually expect dry, hot
summers and snowy (but not too snowy), chilly winters. In Montana, especially in the summer, you
can look around from our property and see green grass, tall pine trees, a beautiful fork of Nine Mile
Creek, and a big blue sky. I can expect more mellow, humid summers and freezing cold, snowy
winters. In Reno, my animal sightings usually include bunnies, birds, and the occasional deer or
coyote. In Montana, you can see bears, elk, antelope, and even moose, right from our house. Overall,
the summer climate in Montana is usually more desirable, though some people may prefer the winters

Charles Darwin Social Influence
One of the most influential thinkers in science, Charles Darwin was a man with an immense devotion
to pursuing the relationship between himself and the world around him.
In his article on the legacy of Darwin, Burghardt (2009) praised not only Darwin s genuine interest in
culture, human psychology, and all aspects of natural history, but also his behavioral observations and
interpretations of the animals and peoples of the areas he visited (p.103). His inclination to find reason
through observational and exploratory research cemented his contributions to the knowledge of human
development. Darwin s theories are still at the forefront of psychological research, lecture, and debate,
and are the basis for many different areas of study within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darwin (1860) never attempted to find a clear location of animal instinct but rather, compared
instincts to malleable, habitual experiences carried across individuals of similar species (p.207). He
concluded that natural selection could play a role in the gradual development of instincts, and
theorized that variations of competing behaviors among different animals result of this phenomenon.
In, The Organism and its Behavior, Krout (1933), relays Darwin s attitudes of instinct, who spoke of
instincts as chains of reflexes but treated them as mental faculties , which impel animals to perform
certain actions (p. 87). Today s ethologists take Darwin s approach to instinct, and emphasize the role
of experience in shaping human behavior. Fear, a trait observed by Darwin in various species of birds,
is certainly an instinctive quality, as may be seen in nestling birds, though it is strengthened by
experience, and by the sight of fear of the same enemy in other animals. But fear of man is slowly
acquired (Darwin, 1860). The natural world, according the Darwin, has a direct effect on the
everchanging traits of an organism, whether habitual or instinctive. The constant shift of
environmental factors influences humans and nonhumans to form habits, and potentially, instincts.
This comparative approach has opened the doors to new ideas about behavior in humans

Women s Suffrage By Susan B. Anthony Silver Dollar
It s sobering to realize that it s only been 95 years since the first woman legally cast her ballot in an
American presidential election. March is Women s History Month and before it s over for 2015, I d
like to propose that we launch an effort to memorialize the immense contributions of the American
women s suffrage leaders by adding their likeness to at least one of our pieces of currency.
The Susan B. Anthony silver dollar had a short but awkward run from 1979 1981 and again in 1999
before production halted. In recent months, there have been discussions about replacing President
Jackson on the $20 bill with someone else. Why not the three leading women who devoted their lives
to the rights of women voters and changed the course of American history without ever casting a legal
ballot of their own?
In the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol stands a striking, white sculpture of three incredible women. It is the
first sculpture in the Capitol sculpted by a woman (Adelaide Johnson), of women (Susan B. Anthony,
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott) and for women. The sculpture gives the appearance of
being unfinished or incomplete as a way of illustrating that the contributions of women to American
government are still taking place and will never be finished. Today, women have a voice in our
government because of the sacrifices and courageous efforts of those first Women s Suffrage
crusaders. They challenged convention, changed history and lived by the conviction of Susan B.

Analysis Of The Minister s Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne
The short story The Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne follows the minister Mr. Hooper
whose simple change in appearance alters the very nature of his existence in society till his death.
While his decision to begin to wear a black veil over his face ostracizes him from society, it also turns
him into a more influential clergyman. With the symbolism of the black veil, Hawthorne makes a
statement on the involvement of society in personal matters and the black veil that is present over the
heart of every man, making the point that everyone is guilty of being sinful.
The Minister s Black Veil was first published in 1832 and was written during the American Romantic
time period. Romanticism was a time period where emotion and ... Show more content on

Hooper for his reason for donning the black veil: no attempts were made...to discover the secret which
[the veil] was supposed to hide (6). Hawthorne portrays society s obsession with that which they do
not know for sure or cannot understand. Hawthorne portrays the townspeople in this way to convey
how people can often be involved in matters not concerning them so much so that they often pass
judgements that may not be just. In Mr. Hooper s case, the townspeople are so invested in analyzing
his black veil that they allow themselves to be affected by his veil so much that they fear him and his
veil, and they even avoid him, all the while not considering how they might be wrong as they are not
entirely different from Mr. Hooper. Symbolism is very prominent throughout the entire short story.
The color black typically symbolizes evil, darkness, and sin. The black veil which conceals the
minister s features, with its negative connotation, is representative of sin. The fact that it is a veil,
which traditionally has a purpose is to conceal one s face, implies that the minister s black veil
symbolizes secret sin. Hawthorne uses this symbolism to imply that man is inherently sinful; if a
minister could potentially guilty of sin, so can others. For the townspeople, the black veil has various
possible meanings. While many townspeople guess at its significance‒some of the townspeople

Three Day Diet Analysis
Growing up I have always given my dad a hard time for his weight until about four years ago when he
pulled out his wedding tux and I tried it on and could not fit in it. I am currently six foot four inches
and weight approximately one hundred and fifty pounds so you can share my amazement when I
found out that I couldn t fit into my two hundred and fifty pound father s tux. My dad got married
when he was twenty two and I just turned twenty two, so I believe that it is about time to start being
more a wear of what I eat. Being that I am currently underweight, I haven t had to discipline myself
when it comes to eating too much. My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My lunches will be foods that give me two ounces of grains, one cup of vegetables, and one cup of
dairy. My afternoon break is a perfect time for my afternoon snack that will consist of one ounce of
grain, a half cup of vegetables, a half cup of dairy, and two ounces of protein foods. My last meal of
the day should contain two ounces of grains, one cup of vegetables, one cup of fruits, and two ounces
of protein foods. Seeing the meal plans makes me feel like this diet is going to be something I am able
to do.
I am a very active person, I think this is a contributing factor for my weight problem, and a proper diet
like the meal plans provided by Super Tracker will give me the nutrients my body needs to drive
through my work days with less fatigue and exhaustion. For as long as I remember my work days have
consisted of my waking up, working, coming home and hitting the sack as soon as possible. With a
proper diet, I have hopes of not only having more energy for work, but also for after work activities.
There are so many things that I just cannot accomplish on my limited days off work. It would be ideal
if I could take care of stuff during the work week as well. I guess in order for me to take care of
things, I must first take care of myself by giving my body what it needs to be healthy and strong.

Essay on Abstinence-Only Sex Education does work.
Abstinence only Sex Education does work.
Teenage sexual activity has sparked an outcry within the nation. With such activity comes a high
price. Studies have shown that there has been a significant rise in the number of children with sexually
transmitted diseases (STDs), emotional and psychological problems, and out of wedlock childbearing.
Sex has always been discussed publically by the media, television shows, music and occasionally by
parents and teachers in educational context. Teens hear them, and as the saying goes, monkey see,
monkey do , they are tempted to experiment with it. Therefore, it is important for every teenager to be
aware of the outcome associated with premature sex. If students are educated about the impact of ...

Programs that encourage abstinence have become a vital part of school systems in the US. These
programs are usually referred to as abstinence only or value based programs while other programs are
called as safer sex, comprehensive, secular or abstinence plus programs which on the contrary
promote the usage of effective contraception. Although abstinence only and safer sex programs
disagree with one another, their core values and stand on the aims of sex education is to help teens
develop problem solving skills and the skill of good decision making. They believe that adolescents
will be better prepared to act responsibly in the heat of the moment (Silva). Most programs that have
been currently implemented in the US have seen a delay in the initiation of sex among teens which
proves to be a positive and desirable outcome (Silva).
Statistics from recent studies suggest that only 13% of U.S. teens have ever had sex by the age of 15.
But by the age of 19, seven in ten teens of both sexes have had sex. Between 1995 and 2006 2008, the
percentage of teens aged 15 17 who had ever engaged in sexual intercourse declined from 38% to
28%. Among teens aged 18 19, it declined from 68% in 1995 to 60% in 2006 2008. The pregnancy
rate among young women has declined steadily from 117 pregnancies per 1,000 women aged 15 19 in
1990 to 70 per 1,000 in 2005. However in 2006, the rate increased for the first time in more than a

Winston Salem Religion
I. Overview Earlier in the semester, we had the opportunity to attend the Interfaith Winston Salem
tour. In just a few hours, we got a glimpse of the incredible amount of religious diversity present in
Winston Salem. Over the past ten years, Forsyth County has become increasingly diverse as
businesses flock to the triad, bringing people from all over the country and the world into one
community. This population boom has changed the religious landscape of Winston Salem. As different
religions continue to come together, it becomes increasingly necessary for people to understand their
neighbors in order to create a cohesive society. Therefore, we propose that the academic study of

relationship would allow high school teachers to learn about teaching religion objectively while also
giving them background knowledge and a mentor to contact if questions should arise. In order to
alleviate parental concerns, educators should be transparent about course material. Also, teachers
should be informed of the laws that delineate the appropriate way to teach religion in public high

Australia needed allies due to the changing situations in a global context. Australia traditionally had
connections with Britain in terms of trade, defence, aid and strategical ties. However, this all changed
due to circumstances such as defence, economy and trade. This led to concerns of economic
prosperity, defence and remaining a Western country. As a result, Australia was forced to form allies
when these situations arise. Australia has ties with the United States in relation to defence, with China

Due to the strong assertion and aggression of China recently relating to issues with the South China

Eating Disorders Among Female Athletes
Eating Disorders Among Collegiate Female Student Athletes
Eating disorders (e.g., anorexia nervosa, bulimia) are not rare in today s society. They have become
increasingly common among young women. Research indicates that there is a link between the media
s representation of the perfect body as well as ideals of attractiveness with dissatisfaction of body
image and eating disorders (Ferguson, Munoz, Garza, Galindo, 2013). In this current literature review,
I will focus on the impact of eating disorders among female collegiate student athletes with an
emphasis on how sports can play an influential role in the development of eating disorders. Female
collegiate student athletes are at risk of developing eating disorders not only because of societal
pressures on women to be thin, but also due to sport specific pressures to change their body weight,
size or shape. Factors that contribute to sport culture and pressure on female athletes include
performance anxiety, revealing uniforms, and coaches influences on their athletes (Coker Cranney
Reel, 2015). Sports can be a way to pursue a passion and promote health, but unfortunately the
pressures that coincide with sports often become extreme. The pressure to be the best can cause
student athletes to resort to harmful measures such as playing through injuries due to fear of losing a
starting position on their team. Similarly, athletes are more likely to fall into disordered eating habits
because they believe it might help

Zeitoun Book Report
Sitting in english class, you are handed this book called Zeitoun. Weeks go by, and you just finished
the book; but then your teacher has some news about the book. News that would alter the way you feel
about the book. Zeitoun, by Dave Eggers, is a book about this family who gives you their opinion and
the inside story on what it was like for their family when Hurricane Katrina hit New
Orleans. Zeitoun, who is the father, goes through imprisonment for unknown reasons until later he was
convicted of looting, his family evacuating New Orleans while he stayed behind, and the aftermath of
the storm hitting the area forcefully. Even though he had to go through all of this, Eggers portrays
Zeitoun as this unbreakable super hero that is willing to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eggers did a fantastic job of showing this. Taking the way he wrote could lead to clues that he actually
did try to incorporate the way Zeitoun treated his wife and family. Eggers really did not fully show
that Zeitoun was an unbreakable superhero. He shows how Zeitoun and Kathy disagree on things and
how they argue.(Nashe) When Zeitoun and Kathy went on that walk to this huge rock, Kathy said
multiple times how she wanted to turn back around and forget about what they promised. Zeitoun
would not let her turn around. He would say that they had come to far to turn back. This could allude
to the abuse he put Kathy under. The rock could be the goal, and Zeitoun would want to stay together
and prove that they had a strong marriage and a strong will to grow together. Kathy turning around
could act like her wanting to give up everything they went through and for the both of them to start off
brand new; but Zeitoun won. They walked to the rock, but even though Kathy kept up the strong act
for a while, it did not last. Eggers also showed he was stubborn and that he put a lot of effort into his
work. Zeitoun eventually became a workaholic, partly because of the fact he was imprisoned. After
the storm though, Eggers shows how both of them are broken.(Nashe) Without indirectly adding these
little hints, it is easy to say that Eggers probably did not know about the abuse; but since there are the
tiny hint, it is possible to say that Eggers might have known about some of it. He might not have
known all the details, but he perhaps knew a little something. He does not have the right to come out
and just say that Kathy was abused because he used what the family gave to him. If they gave him the
information, he should have said something, but if they did not give him the information he can not
just accuse Zeitoun. The fact that Eggers and the filmmaker, Jonathan Demme, said Our primary

History 101 Pass The Popcorn Please Analysis
In History 101: Pass the Popcorn, Please Elaine Minamide disputes whether or not we should use
movies to teach difficult or boring curriculum. However, Depending on the student and the quality of
the movie this could be advantageous or damaging to the learning process. Minamide goes on to
question the historical accuracy of films and the story shrouding the actual history behind it. She
argues that while showing a film may get students excited are they actually going to learn anything of
value from the film. Reading Les Miserables is far different from watching the movie, so is showing
the movie even worth the class time? Of course students are going to be more enthusiastic to hear that

By all means, use them, but as dessert, not the main course. This is so unbelievably true, if you want
to show a film in class that s fine but do your students a favor and teach the curriculum first. If it is
Ender s Game don t watch the mediocre movie and then read the book, the movie just doesn t do the
book justice. If you are about to start a lesson on ocean currents explain them to your pupils before
you let Bill Nye the science guy tell them. The point is a teacher is paid to teach not to pop a DVD
into the TV and hope that students take something from it. Knowledge is one of the most important
things in life, without it how would you know what you want to do in life, what you want to be when
you grow up? If we are just given movies and don t read novels like To Kill a Mockingbird or 1989
how are we to know if we want to be writers, do we just become film makers? There are so many
wonderful things to experience in the classroom that putting on a movie to entertain is just tragic,
students would be enraptured if the used their imaginations while reading any of the classic novels
that are required reading in high school; the extravagant lifestyle and ostentatious parties that Gatsby
threw, the humiliation that Hester underwent, the peculiar friendship of Lenny and George. These are

Servant Leader As A Servant
Definition:
Most people define a servant leader as being a servant first. (Crippen, 2004; Grisaffe, VanMeter,
Chonko, 2016; Gyeongchun, 2014; Jit, Sharma, Kawatra, 2016; Parris Peachey, 2013; Russell Stone,

Servant leaders are motivated by the need to serve the followers (Blanchard, 2001; Chanhoo,

VanMeter, Chonko, 2016; Gyeongchun, 2014; Jit, Sharma, Kawatra, 2016; Liden et al., 2014; Parris

Place emphasis on the development of followers rather than their own gratification (Jit, Sharma,
Kawatra, 2016; Liden et al., 2014; Parris Peachey, 2013; Rubio Sanchez, Bosco, Melchar, 2013; Wong

Furthermore, servant leaders feel a moral responsibility to bring success to the organization, the
subordinates, the customers and other stakeholders (Jit, Sharma, Kawatra, 2016; Rubio Sanchez,
Bosco, Melchar, 2013; Spears, 2004; Spiro, 2010; Waterman, 2011).
Overall, Parris and Peachy clearly exemplify that servant leaders are distinguished by both their
primary motivation to serve (what they do) and their self construction (who they are), and from this
conscious choice of doing and being they aspire to lead (Parris Peachey, 2013, p. 379).

The Movie The Golden Eagle
The moment did become better. South of us, soaring high in the sky appeared an eagle. Not a bald
eagle, but perhaps a golden and it appeared to be closing in on our location as it dropped in altitude.
Mesmerized, eyes locked in on the free bird, it ensued on a flight pattern directly at our position. The
closer it moved in, the swifter it soared. Suddenly, the realization set in that it was too late to lunge for
a camera. The bird rapidly appeared in such proximity the details of the underside wings were sharply
in focus. Holly claims the bird s flight pattern locked in on her, and I believe her. For a brief moment,
an uncomfortable feeling besieged me as I couldn t understand the bird s intentions of being that close
in flight. An actual goose bump or two appeared while a mild chill jettisoned down my back. It was
captivating and eerie at the same time. The golden eagle flew directly over Holly swooshing past and
soaring out over the ravine. If either Holly or I had hastily searched for a camera, we would have
missed the amazing display of soaring free. As with Tim, Holly and I would also have missed the
spectacle if we d chosen to pursue the glacier. Locating Tim against the blended landscape became
easier as he neared our location. Only a few minutes out, I developed an eagerness to hear a report of
what he d seen, and to what distance he managed to the glacier. His return marked a 45 minute
absence and he mentioned the ice still remained roughly an hour from his reach.

The surveys were numerically coded and only able to be accessed by the researchers. The survey itself
included thirty questions that were broken down into three categories about education level, shift
length, age, and experience. The categories were compassion satisfaction, compassion fatigue, and
burn out. Once the surveys were received by the researchers, the information gathered was entered
into the Statistical Package for the Social Science. Each category from the survey was then computed
into statistics. Out of the 1,000 surveys mailed out, a total of 278 participated. The limitations of the
study were a small sample size, low response rate, and the variables were measured at one given time.
The results of this study were primarily women, white, married, and worked 12 hour shifts. The mean
age of the participants were 44 years old. The years of working as a nurse ranged anywhere from 1
year to 48 years and the largest number of nurses held a bachelor s degree, although it ranged from a
diploma to doctorate degrees. This study found that nurses who held higher levels of education, such
as master or doctorate degrees, had higher satisfaction in the workplace compared to those who held
lower level degrees, such as associates and bachelors. There was no clinical significance in the
number of years as a nurse and compassion fatigue, although there was a higher level of satisfaction as
a nurse who had been working longer than those who did not

HANDLING OPEN INCIDENTS EFFECTIVELY IN IT SERVICES MANAGEMENT
ABSTRACT
The main objective of IT Service Management (ITSM) is to ensure that all business processes and
resources are optimized and implemented using the best practices defined in ITIL (Information
Technology Infrastructure Library) to meet the organizational goals. ITIL defines Incident
Management process to manage and restore the normal service operations from the disruptions
minimizing the impact to the business. This study focusses on improving the performance of an
organization by the effective management of open incidents. The research proposes generating reports
from incident management tool and increasing the rate of resolving the incidents through a systematic

Organizations are concerned with the effective implementation of incident management since any
service incident could cause a huge loss and a setback to business continuity.
Organizations looking for quick wins have taken up ITSM and have not seen the positive outcomes of
its implementation as they are confused on how to implement it. This is due to the fact that ITIL doesn
t provide the guidelines of how to implement the management standards and it is up to a business how
they perceive it and implement as per their needs and requirements (Pollard Cater Steel 2009).
The main objective of this study is to provide a strategy for optimizing and improving the IT services
incident management. For the effective implementation of incident management process, reducing the
number of open incidents is one of the most advisable approach but has not quite been effectively
implemented by existing work. This research provides a methodology of systematically handling the
incidents addressed by the users to be handled by the respective IT support staff and to generate
reports for keeping a record of the open incidents which serve as a basis for the management to assess
the performance of the incident management tool, look for solutions of most frequently occurring
incidents and develop strategies to reduce the number of incidents.
II. BACKGROUND TO INCIDENT MANAGEMENT
Incidents are the service disruptions that

College Is The Best For College Essay
High school students who are just getting ready to graduate have two choices, either start working or
go to college. Many of those students who want to go to college have to choose what college they
want to go to. Deciding which college to go to can be a hard choice, since going to college is a big
decision to make. Students know that going to college is going to be harder than high school. The
atmosphere is different, and many students are on their own after they make that college choice. Being
hundreds of miles away from home can put stress on the student. Once they feel this stress, grades and
the confidence of the student go down. From the Education Partnerships Inc., they state The best
preparation for college is still a solid high opportunity to develop academic and study skills that can
help assure college success (1). These students need help by trying to figure out a solution that can
best fit their needs. For students to get a higher education they need to accommodate special learning
skills that will enlighten the students mind into getting a degree they want. High school students who
learn how to collaborate with these particular skills will end up going to a college of their choice, get a
better GPA, and have a higher paying job as a reward for the hard work that they showed. High school
students who are juniors or seniors are told that college or real life is right around the corner, and don t
take those last few months for granted. Many opportunities are

Tim Burton Mood Analysis
How Tim Burton uses techniques to help set the mood.
There is a misconception that directing is easy and simple. Tim Burton uses cinematic techniques in
his movies to set a specific a atmosphere and mood. Mood can make or break an entire story if a story
is meant to be all happy and cheery and they make the mood is not there to compliment it ruins the
story, and how Tim Burton set up the moods of his movies always complimented the story. Tim
Burton Gives his films a dark and eerie feel by using the cinematic techniques sound, editing, and
lighting.
Sound is a very important part of a movie as it can set the mood in the situation; Tim Burton used
diegetic sounds perfectly in Charlie in the Chocolate Factory to set that dark eerie mood. At the
beginning of the movie where you see all the machines that are used to make chocolate, a the
machines are working it is playing a low pitched song while the viewer hears the machines press down
on the chocolate to mold the chocolate. The sounds the machines make combined with the music
makes the scene s mood a lot less more cheery like yeah chocolate but also gave an mysterious feel
about it. Another example is when the group is greeted by wax puppets singing an upbeat song, ...

Tim Burton uses lighting in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Nightmare Before Christmas.
Most of the scenes in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Wonka is seen in most scenes with full
lighting, but when he has his flashbacks the lighting shows half his face. The camera angle also allows
for the full effect by portraying his face from a lower vantage point. It gives an eerie feeling around
Wonka and his mysterious background. The lighting in The Nightmare Before Christmas is dark and
shadowy, meant to feel like a real nightmare. In the beginning in the Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory, after Willy opens the first door that lead to almost a land with no dark, everything is edible

Globalization The Nfl
Realization/Opportunity from the Failed Attempt After 16 years, the NFL has been investigating the
past failure, and looking at new and different avenues in order to realize its objective, to globalize the
league international. This is put into better terms by Richard Sandomir from The New York Times, he
stated, But N.F.L. Europa, born 16 years ago as the World League of American Football, lost money,
ran through television partners, narrowed its trans Atlantic focus largely to Germany and finally was
shuttered yesterday. The NFL s strategy will shift to playing regular season games overseas.

As a result, all players would have to have immigration clearance to play there. Currently, NFL
players only need a valid passport to participate on a visa granted for one time sporting events.
Permanent London players, playing a full home game schedule, would have to secure working visas,
which are much harder to acquire. Further, players with criminal records, like Michael Vick, may be
denied entry altogether. Therefore, teams may be forced to leave some of their best players behind
when they travel to play in London. It is also questionable whether the NFL could impose its rule that
a player has to be out of high school for at least three years before they can be eligible for the NFL
draft. That rule could run into conflict with existing laws in the U.K. and other places in the European
Union. Finally, many of these issues would affect wages and working conditions of the players raising
potential conflicts with the collective bargaining agreement between the league and its players (Dosh,

An Analysis Of Ehrenreich s Bait And Switch
According to The New York Times, the average person born in the later years of the baby boom held
around 10.5 jobs between the age of 18 and 40, which is much more than what the previous
generations held. The job one obtains after graduation would probably not be the last job of his/her
lifetime, that is in today s corporate race, a job becomes more of a pit stop one to stay in until either
the employer or employee feels dissatisfied rather than a final destination. Given this condition, a
person must constantly show their worth and perform better than others to stay employed, but it seems
that the situation is not that simple; many stumble over transitions between jobs, falling off tracks just
the slightest and finding themselves unable to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to journalists Katty Kay and Claire Shipman in The Atlantic article The Confidence Gap ,
confidence is a belief in one s ability to succeed, a belief that stimulates action (Kay and Shipman
151). As important it is to be knowledgeable with a warehouse full of experiences, if one only keeps
the knowledge to him/herself, this knowledge will not have the chance to be applied, or let alone
appreciated. This would clearly be more difficult for introverts and women than for extroverts and
men, but we must overcome this barrier to have a successful career. Due to both nature and nurture,
women tend to internalize their failures and mistakes, falsely blaming themselves for being
incompetent, resorting to being even more careful and shy in taking actions, which stops them from
taking risks that might be the key to stand out and succeed. To overcome the lack of confidence, we
need to swallow our doubts, stop thinking so much and just act (Kay and Shipman 153). Confidence is
the language needed to deliver our skills, and at the end of the day, confidence can also be self
perpetuating, and having confidence could help us better recover from failures and be a better person

Biological Theories Of Criminology
Lombroso believed that the characteristics of the criminal are outside the immediate control of the
individual, such as biological, psychological and sociological (Ellwood 1912, 717; White and Haines
2008, 33; 37). Biological characteristics are divided into three types of somatoypes, Endomorph,
Mesomorph and Ectomorph (Shoemaker 2013, 68). Endomorph is the excessive, soft body weight and
an extroverted personality (Shoemaker 2013, 68). Mesomorph is an athletically built and muscular
structure and aggressive behaviour (Shoemaker 2013, 68). Ectomorph, can be described as thin and
delicate and having an introverted personality who are not likely to commit crime (Shoemaker 2013,
68). Furthermore, around the 20th century, phrenology was the most ... Show more content on

Classicism and Positivism have both positively and negatively impacted on contemporary
understandings of criminology and criminal justice practices. Currently, both theories are viewed in
combination with each other rather than individually (Fishbein 1990, 27). If considered alone they do
not offer a complete assessment of the contributions to criminal behaviour (Fishbein 1990, 27). In the
past, biological factors were largely rejected as a result of unscientific findings and the inability to
posit rational explanations (Fishbein 1990, 27). The viewpoint by criminologists was either nature
(biological) or nurture (sociological, environmental) (Fishbein 1990, 29). Whereas, the viewpoint is
now nature plus nurture and findings are now supported by science and posit rational explanations
(Fishbein 1990, 29). In relation to the characteristics of criminals, there continues to be criminal
stereotypes based on physical and sociological characteristics, especially race and class (Gatti and
Verde 2012, 20). In relation to punishment, the 18th century English system agreed with Beccaria s
view on punishment as it was said to provide effective deterrence and reflect the status quo (Draper
2000, 183). However, they did not agree with the same methods of punishment, unlike the 20th
century (Draper 2000,

Movie Theatre Shooting
The topic we will be discussing in our paper is the Aurora Colorado Movie theatre shooting. First we
will go over the events that happened in that movie theatre that day. Then we will discuss the security
personal that the movie theatre had before the incident occurred. In addition we will go fourth with
discussing how the police, hospital and other emergency personals responded to the tragic event. Did
movie theatres change their way of security since this event? Then we will compare this event to
homeland security and explain their connection. The Department of Homeland Security is constantly
learning new things and changing procedures and protocols as needed to create a safe and secure
nation. This event was important because the Department of Homeland Security took into
consideration maybe their needs to be more security in movie theatres. Before this event movie
theatres were one of the last places you think a tragic shooting incident would occur.
A few questions we wish to answer by the time we finish our research on this paper are the following:
Did this event have a big enough impact on our society to initiate the change of gun laws?
Have movie theatres since this event changed security protocols or enhanced security in general?
On July 20, 2012 in Aurora, Colorado, twelve innocent people were killed and about 70 others were
injured. This shooting happened at the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises at the Century 16
movie theater in Aurora, Colorado.

Essay about The Eastern Indigo Snake
The eastern indigo snake is the longest snake species native to the united states. With a habitat that
covers much of the east coast and all of florida, some of the longest eastern indigos push nearly 9.5
feet. While this fact may invoke fear in many, humans do not have much to fear. Eastern indigos are
non venomous, and only eat small animals including bird eggs. Humans are actually more deadly to
them. Even though they aren t the cutest or most sought after pet, they play an important and
irreplaceable part in their ecosystem.

The eggs are soft shelled while being granular surfaced, and oval shaped. Female Eastern Indigo
Snakes have the ability to retain live sperm for a prolonged period of time, possibly over four years,
and they later release the sperm for egg fertilization.
Distribution
Eastern Indigo Snakes are primarily found within Tropical areas. The current refuge for the Eastern
Indigo Snake species are in the peninsular Florida and southeastern Georgia areas. Eastern Indigo
Snakes are rare and of very local occurrence west of Tallahassee, Florida and in southwestern Georgia.
Given their preference towards the upland habitats, Eastern Indigo Snakes are not commonly found in
great numbers in the wetlands of the Everglades region. The Eastern indigo snakes also occur in the
Florida Keys.
Ecology
Eastern Indigo Snakes are found in the lower coastal plains along with the burrowing gopher tortoise.
They use the burrows not only for their refuge, as well as breeding and reproduction. After the eggs
hatch, the young snakes move to low wetland areas and feed on small lizards, frogs and toads. Adult
snakes feed on small mammals, birds, and snakes, with a preference for snakes. The indigo snake is
thought to be the largest predator of the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake and their is data that has
shown the rattlesnake is a preferred food item. Eastern Indigo Snakes became immune to the bites and
venom released from the rattlesnakes. Some adult indigo snakes will

Book Review: Julius Caesar s The Conquest of Gaul
[underline or italicize titles of books]
Between the years 58 B.C.E and 50 B.C.E., Gaius Julius Caesar conquered almost the whole of France
as well as Belgium, Switzerland and parts of Germany; he also found time to invade Britain twice.
Julius Caesar was a Roman statesman and general who played a critical role in the demise of the
Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. He amassed great power through clever political
alliances and military victories. Caesar recorded his conquests in great detail which provides valuable
historical text to refer to; however it must be kept in mind that it is a clear piece of propaganda. As the
saying goes, the winner gets to write history. Nonetheless, Caesar s writings are a unique firsthand
source on his conquests in Gaul and the various Gallic tribes he came up against.
Central themes evident in his memoir are war, devotion and persuasion. Caesar was clear to outline in
his commentaries how each of his campaigns was in the best interest of the republic. He depicted
himself as a loyal servant to the Roman people and therefore portrayed his actions and decisions in the
most favorable way possible. Those who would have read his work at the time would have felt
inspired and consequently considered him a hero. Caesar s books were intended to aid future
historians in telling his story accurately and [in a way

Critical Analysis on Sonnet 12, Shakespeare s Sonnets ,...
William Shakespeare wrote a group of 154 sonnets between 1592 and 1597, which were compiled and
published under the title Shakespeare s Sonnets in 1609. Our attention will focus on sonnet 12, a
remarkable and poignant poem about the relentless passing of time, the fading beauty, immortality,
death and Old Age, these subjects being typical of all Shakespeare s Sonnets.
Time is omnipresent in everyone s life, just passing and passing inexorably, relentlessly, so
unstoppable. It is a universal problem : people have always been very worried about time, trying to
gain some, or angry they have lost this precious element. Moreover, Time is Money , maxim born in
the business sector, is now an adage applied in all matter. But still, it is not ... Show more content on

In the same way, the day looks already defeated, but it tries, unlike the I , to fight, as suggest the
adjective brave , introducing a notion of combat. However, this is not the only meaning of this word,
brave being polysemic : it has almost a visual significance, evoking brightness and gallantry. Thus,
Shakespeare joins an attracting adjective to the day , to finally make it appear even more vulnerable
and pathetic, thanks to hideous night . This opposition between brave day and hideous night
emphasizes the day s weakness against the night, literally sinking in the night. This verb, sink,
represents a long action and gives us the idea that we cannot discern the limits between day and night,
we cannot point out this is day , this is night . It is something we are not aware of, we cannot see
happening, until night has completely taken the place. This domination and hopeless fight could
imply, by extension, that any struggle in life is a useless task. The violet is also under time control : it
is once at its prime state, at springtime best, being emblematic of Spring and new growth, but then
soon fades and dies. Here is presented the decaying of nature and furthermore of human, as violet is
like a human being : once at its prime, then dying. Shakespeare presents us the same kind of image in
the next line, describing sable curls, namely dark hair, having turned white due to the age. This word

  • 3. Life In Missoula, Montana Life in Reno, Nevada vs. LIfe in Missoula, Montana I have been living in Reno for my entire life. I ve grown accustomed to everything it has to offer, and I am comfortable in Reno. But in June, when my life switches from suburban life to a lush, green, 20 acre property, I am going to notice that Reno and Missoula have similarities, but my life will be very, very different. Let s start with the size of the towns. In Reno, the population is 245,255 people and counting. Reno is 106 square miles, giving it a population density of 2,313 people per square mile. In Missoula, on the other hand, has 72,364 people. Missoula is 30 square miles, giving it a population density of 2,412 people per square mile. I will be going to Frenchtown High School ... The weather is incredibly unpredictable, but I usually expect dry, hot summers and snowy (but not too snowy), chilly winters. In Montana, especially in the summer, you can look around from our property and see green grass, tall pine trees, a beautiful fork of Nine Mile Creek, and a big blue sky. I can expect more mellow, humid summers and freezing cold, snowy winters. In Reno, my animal sightings usually include bunnies, birds, and the occasional deer or coyote. In Montana, you can see bears, elk, antelope, and even moose, right from our house. Overall, the summer climate in Montana is usually more desirable, though some people may prefer the winters in ... • 4. Charles Darwin Social Influence One of the most influential thinkers in science, Charles Darwin was a man with an immense devotion to pursuing the relationship between himself and the world around him. In his article on the legacy of Darwin, Burghardt (2009) praised not only Darwin s genuine interest in culture, human psychology, and all aspects of natural history, but also his behavioral observations and interpretations of the animals and peoples of the areas he visited (p.103). His inclination to find reason through observational and exploratory research cemented his contributions to the knowledge of human development. Darwin s theories are still at the forefront of psychological research, lecture, and debate, and are the basis for many different areas of study within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Darwin (1860) never attempted to find a clear location of animal instinct but rather, compared instincts to malleable, habitual experiences carried across individuals of similar species (p.207). He concluded that natural selection could play a role in the gradual development of instincts, and theorized that variations of competing behaviors among different animals result of this phenomenon. In, The Organism and its Behavior, Krout (1933), relays Darwin s attitudes of instinct, who spoke of instincts as chains of reflexes but treated them as mental faculties , which impel animals to perform certain actions (p. 87). Today s ethologists take Darwin s approach to instinct, and emphasize the role of experience in shaping human behavior. Fear, a trait observed by Darwin in various species of birds, is certainly an instinctive quality, as may be seen in nestling birds, though it is strengthened by experience, and by the sight of fear of the same enemy in other animals. But fear of man is slowly acquired (Darwin, 1860). The natural world, according the Darwin, has a direct effect on the everchanging traits of an organism, whether habitual or instinctive. The constant shift of environmental factors influences humans and nonhumans to form habits, and potentially, instincts. This comparative approach has opened the doors to new ideas about behavior in humans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Women s Suffrage By Susan B. Anthony Silver Dollar It s sobering to realize that it s only been 95 years since the first woman legally cast her ballot in an American presidential election. March is Women s History Month and before it s over for 2015, I d like to propose that we launch an effort to memorialize the immense contributions of the American women s suffrage leaders by adding their likeness to at least one of our pieces of currency. The Susan B. Anthony silver dollar had a short but awkward run from 1979 1981 and again in 1999 before production halted. In recent months, there have been discussions about replacing President Jackson on the $20 bill with someone else. Why not the three leading women who devoted their lives to the rights of women voters and changed the course of American history without ever casting a legal ballot of their own? In the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol stands a striking, white sculpture of three incredible women. It is the first sculpture in the Capitol sculpted by a woman (Adelaide Johnson), of women (Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott) and for women. The sculpture gives the appearance of being unfinished or incomplete as a way of illustrating that the contributions of women to American government are still taking place and will never be finished. Today, women have a voice in our government because of the sacrifices and courageous efforts of those first Women s Suffrage crusaders. They challenged convention, changed history and lived by the conviction of Susan B. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of The Minister s Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne The short story The Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne follows the minister Mr. Hooper whose simple change in appearance alters the very nature of his existence in society till his death. While his decision to begin to wear a black veil over his face ostracizes him from society, it also turns him into a more influential clergyman. With the symbolism of the black veil, Hawthorne makes a statement on the involvement of society in personal matters and the black veil that is present over the heart of every man, making the point that everyone is guilty of being sinful. The Minister s Black Veil was first published in 1832 and was written during the American Romantic time period. Romanticism was a time period where emotion and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hooper for his reason for donning the black veil: no attempts were made...to discover the secret which [the veil] was supposed to hide (6). Hawthorne portrays society s obsession with that which they do not know for sure or cannot understand. Hawthorne portrays the townspeople in this way to convey how people can often be involved in matters not concerning them so much so that they often pass judgements that may not be just. In Mr. Hooper s case, the townspeople are so invested in analyzing his black veil that they allow themselves to be affected by his veil so much that they fear him and his veil, and they even avoid him, all the while not considering how they might be wrong as they are not entirely different from Mr. Hooper. Symbolism is very prominent throughout the entire short story. The color black typically symbolizes evil, darkness, and sin. The black veil which conceals the minister s features, with its negative connotation, is representative of sin. The fact that it is a veil, which traditionally has a purpose is to conceal one s face, implies that the minister s black veil symbolizes secret sin. Hawthorne uses this symbolism to imply that man is inherently sinful; if a minister could potentially guilty of sin, so can others. For the townspeople, the black veil has various possible meanings. With such activity comes a high price. Studies have shown that there has been a significant rise in the number of children with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), emotional and psychological problems, and out of wedlock childbearing. Sex has always been discussed publically by the media, television shows, music and occasionally by parents and teachers in educational context. They believe that adolescents will be better prepared to act responsibly in the heat of the moment (Silva). Most programs that have been currently implemented in the US have seen a delay in the initiation of sex among teens which proves to be a positive and desirable outcome (Silva). Statistics from recent studies suggest that only 13% of U.S. teens have ever had sex by the age of 15. But by the age of 19, seven in ten teens of both sexes have had sex. Tony Abbot has gone so far as to say Australia is a strong ally of Japan (Schreer, 2016 pg. 37) which creates a tense situation between the Australian and US relationship. • 14. Eating Disorders Among Female Athletes Eating Disorders Among Collegiate Female Student Athletes Eating disorders (e.g., anorexia nervosa, bulimia) are not rare in today s society. They have become increasingly common among young women. Research indicates that there is a link between the media s representation of the perfect body as well as ideals of attractiveness with dissatisfaction of body image and eating disorders (Ferguson, Munoz, Garza, Galindo, 2013). In this current literature review, I will focus on the impact of eating disorders among female collegiate student athletes with an emphasis on how sports can play an influential role in the development of eating disorders. Female collegiate student athletes are at risk of developing eating disorders not only because of societal pressures on women to be thin, but also due to sport specific pressures to change their body weight, size or shape. Factors that contribute to sport culture and pressure on female athletes include performance anxiety, revealing uniforms, and coaches influences on their athletes (Coker Cranney Reel, 2015). Sports can be a way to pursue a passion and promote health, but unfortunately the pressures that coincide with sports often become extreme. The pressure to be the best can cause student athletes to resort to harmful measures such as playing through injuries due to fear of losing a starting position on their team. He shows how Zeitoun and Kathy disagree on things and how they argue.(Nashe) When Zeitoun and Kathy went on that walk to this huge rock, Kathy said multiple times how she wanted to turn back around and forget about what they promised. Zeitoun would not let her turn around. He would say that they had come to far to turn back. This could allude to the abuse he put Kathy under. The rock could be the goal, and Zeitoun would want to stay together and prove that they had a strong marriage and a strong will to grow together. Kathy turning around could act like her wanting to give up everything they went through and for the both of them to start off brand new; but Zeitoun won. They walked to the rock, but even though Kathy kept up the strong act for a while, it did not last. Eggers also showed he was stubborn and that he put a lot of effort into his work. Zeitoun eventually became a workaholic, partly because of the fact he was imprisoned. After the storm though, Eggers shows how both of them are broken.(Nashe) Without indirectly adding these little hints, it is easy to say that Eggers probably did not know about the abuse; but since there are the tiny hint, it is possible to say that Eggers might have known about some of it. He might not have known all the details, but he perhaps knew a little something. He does not have the right to come out and just say that Kathy was abused because he used what the family gave to him. If we are just given movies and don t read novels like To Kill a Mockingbird or 1989 how are we to know if we want to be writers, do we just become film makers? There are so many wonderful things to experience in the classroom that putting on a movie to entertain is just tragic, students would be enraptured if the used their imaginations while reading any of the classic novels that are required reading in high school; the extravagant lifestyle and ostentatious parties that Gatsby threw, the humiliation that Hester underwent, the peculiar friendship of Lenny and George. • 18. The Movie The Golden Eagle The moment did become better. South of us, soaring high in the sky appeared an eagle. Not a bald eagle, but perhaps a golden and it appeared to be closing in on our location as it dropped in altitude. Mesmerized, eyes locked in on the free bird, it ensued on a flight pattern directly at our position. The closer it moved in, the swifter it soared. Suddenly, the realization set in that it was too late to lunge for a camera. The bird rapidly appeared in such proximity the details of the underside wings were sharply in focus. Holly claims the bird s flight pattern locked in on her, and I believe her. For a brief moment, an uncomfortable feeling besieged me as I couldn t understand the bird s intentions of being that close in flight. An actual goose bump or two appeared while a mild chill jettisoned down my back. It was captivating and eerie at the same time. The golden eagle flew directly over Holly swooshing past and soaring out over the ravine. If either Holly or I had hastily searched for a camera, we would have missed the amazing display of soaring free. As with Tim, Holly and I would also have missed the spectacle if we d chosen to pursue the glacier. Locating Tim against the blended landscape became easier as he neared our location. Only a few minutes out, I developed an eagerness to hear a report of what he d seen, and to what distance he managed to the glacier. His return marked a 45 minute absence and he mentioned the ice still remained roughly an hour from his reach. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This would clearly be more difficult for introverts and women than for extroverts and men, but we must overcome this barrier to have a successful career. Due to both nature and nurture, women tend to internalize their failures and mistakes, falsely blaming themselves for being incompetent, resorting to being even more careful and shy in taking actions, which stops them from taking risks that might be the key to stand out and succeed. In the past, biological factors were largely rejected as a result of unscientific findings and the inability to posit rational explanations (Fishbein 1990, 27). Julius Caesar was a Roman statesman and general who played a critical role in the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. He amassed great power through clever political alliances and military victories. Caesar recorded his conquests in great detail which provides valuable historical text to refer to; however it must be kept in mind that it is a clear piece of propaganda. As the saying goes, the winner gets to write history. Nonetheless, Caesar s writings are a unique firsthand source on his conquests in Gaul and the various Gallic tribes he came up against. Central themes evident in his memoir are war, devotion and persuasion. Caesar was clear to outline in his commentaries how each of his campaigns was in the best interest of the republic. He depicted himself as a loyal servant to the Roman people and therefore portrayed his actions and decisions in the most favorable way possible. However, this is not the only meaning of this word, brave being polysemic : it has almost a visual significance, evoking brightness and gallantry. Thus, Shakespeare joins an attracting adjective to the day , to finally make it appear even more vulnerable and pathetic, thanks to hideous night . This opposition between brave day and hideous night emphasizes the day s weakness against the night, literally sinking in the night. This verb, sink, represents a long action and gives us the idea that we cannot discern the limits between day and night, we cannot point out this is day , this is night . It is something we are not aware of, we cannot see happening, until night has completely taken the place.
